First off, I've gotta say that I love all the Chipotle snobs who put this place down. There are three places that I know of like this that are like a Mexican version of Subway - Chipotle, Q'doba and Moe's. Basically you order burritos, tacos, quesadillas, etc and customize them to your liking. The problem in all three of these places is blandness. None of them have very flavorful meat. Q'doba rises above the others because they have really good queso, and out of the three, I've found their meat to have the most flavor (my favorite is the shredded beef). I've never gone into this location when it was busy, but the people there have always been pretty friendly and the burritos are made well. They usually give a fair amount of meat relative to the beans/rice. The price is about on par with the other places - a huge burrito will be somewhere between $7-$10 - more if you add any sides. I think they're worth a shot even if you really like one of the other two places.

I love their Mexican Gumbo! I'm a veggie and I would say this is the best dish I've found.

Pretty certain that the food here is always good and the staff is friendly. I really like going here, it's convenient when I need to go to Schnucks for groceries

The rice in both our dishes was so over cooked that it formed a single white glob in our burritos. I tried the smothered for a change but was unimpressed. Chips were good though! I'll be switching to chipotle after this meal...

Very fresh Mexican food and the staff is always friendly. The owner stops in all the time and will serve your food or clean off your table. These guys work hard and it is obvious that they care alot for their customers. NICE outdoor sitting area on the west side of the building which is perfect during lunch.

Before I begin I would like to state that I am more of a Chipotle fan. This being said I have no bias against Qdoba. I was in Peoria for an appointment at one, and not wanting to be hungry during I swung into Qdoba for a quick lunch. If you've been to Qdoba before, they are all about the same. Big menu boards with burrito combinations, Subway style topping tables for you to select from, and a fountain soda machine to serve yourself from. I went in at lunchtime and as I expected it was very busy. Under these circumstances I was not annoyed by the long wait in line. The first guy in the burrito assembly line was an obvious vet. He mentally took down the first few toppings for your burrito and passed the info down the line. Things were great until it came time for the salsa. There were about 4 employees standing around staring and a line was backing up. Out of nowhere a female employee appeared and got things going again. It was weird, because it wasn't for a lack of stock that the line stopped. The same employee also had the vision to man a second register, thus increasing the speed of the line. It is an ok place for a quick burrito, but unlike my fellow native Peorians, I do not see what makes it so "addictive."

very limited menu. many things on there I do not like. not a fan of mango and most dishes have it in there. employees not very helpful in deciding what to have as far as suggesting goes. do not recommend!

I loooove Qdoba's food!!! This review only refers to the manager, Becky, and her interaction with her staff, Shantel. Shantel rang up my purchase at the register. AFTER Shantel rang me up, I decided I wanted to purchase the $30 Qdoba gift card and get the free entree as a bonus. Shantel had to cancel the transaction and needed management approval. Shantel asked the manager, Becky, to come over to complete the void. Becky came over and said to Shantel quite sternly, "what did you do!" Shantel replied that she needed to void the transaction because I wanted to purchase a gift card and use it to purchase my 2 entrees. Becky never greeted me, addressed me or acknowledged me. Instead, she reprimanded Shantel in front of me for having to void the transaction, BUT it was not Shantel's error. I decided to purchase the gift cards AFTER Shantel rang me up! So, Becky voided the transaction with a sour puss face and told me I could not use the free entree voucher until January. Becky gave me the gift card but NEVER gave me the free entree voucher, which I did not realize until I was already on my way back to Chicago. Let me just say that I was VERY shocked to witness Becky chastise Shantel in front of me for having to void a transaction. Becky did not know the details and that it was my fault, NOT Shantel's error. It was uncomfortable for me to witness that and I could see that it was also uncomfortable AND embarassing for Shantel. Becky's behavior as a manager is UNACCEPTABLE and is an example of poor management skills. In addition, Becky's lack of communication with me exhibits VERY poor customer service skills. I was sooooo shocked that Becky NEVER said hello, hi or boo to me when she did come over to do the void. She seemed more concerned with reprimanding Shantel for having to void the transaction. Furthermore, Becky, NOT Shantel, forgot to give me my free entree voucher for purchasing the $30 gift card, but when I later called Qdoba to inform Becky she forgot to give me the voucher, she blamed it on Shantel by stating "oh, she forgot to give it to you?" Really??!! NO! YOU forgot to give it to me! Becky stated she will mail the voucher to me since I was already on my way back to Chicago. I did enjoy my food, but felt compelled to review what I witnessed.

A former coworker once told me that the he absolutely despised Qdoba, and always preferred Chipotle any day. I never really saw a huuuge difference. That is, until I had all Chipotle/no Qdoba for about three months. Enter the Q today for lunch. They've got some pre-determined burrito combos and a few extra things to sell, some of them on a "budget" price point. I opted for the Street Tacos, three small double-corn-tortilla'ed tacos with shredded pork, red onion and cilantro. The pork was juicey, but pretty flavorless at the same time. The spicy habanero salsa was pure hot, but again lacking flavor. I'm still giving three stars for a few reasons. The chile ancho pinto beans on the side were poppin'! Smoky and delicious, it was the grace-saver for an otherwise boring and uninspiring meal. Also, I know there are better options out there, and I now know never to stray from my tried and true favorites. Not saying it's better than Chipotle, but from here on out, I know how to roll.

Chipotle, I am so sorry. I will never cheat on you with your inbred, backwoods cousin again...It made me feel so dirty... Will you ever forgive me?

Craving the flavors of my adopted home, Southern California, I stopped by this quick service Mexican place with my younger sisters. I had the tortilla soup and both my sisters ordered cheese quesidillas. The tortilla soup was a very small portion, and not the salty, spicy flavor that I expected. More of a tomato base. Not spectacular. The quesidillas were good and a generous portion. Next time I'll try the tacos or a burrito and skip the soup.

If you like a burrito that will fill you up, than stop by. You have options on how they prepare your food in front of you, fresh ingredients, they cook the meat right there. Wish the salsa had a little more spice seemed a little bland for me. They have a good selection and you can get a combo for those that want to try little something different. Vegetarian and meat lovers are also avaliable. Good staff and they help you if its your first time to decide on something good.

Tasty and inexpensive, but I wish they had other sides besides chips and salsa.

Let me start by saying that part of the reason that I disliked this restaurant is because I really do not like salty shredded beef (usually sirloin) in my mexican food. I like ground beef. I know, I know...that isn't truly Mexican! However, if I wanted TRUE Mexican food, I wouldn't be eating at some chain in the first place, no? Since I don't like the meat offerings, I ordered a cheese quesadilla. It was the blandest thing I've eaten. I make better cheese quesadillas at home with kraft shredded cheese. I also ordered their chips/queso. The queso had a funk to it. I can't quite put my finger on it, except to say that it was gross. Ick.

A definite upgrade from Taco Bell without getting away from nicely Americanized "fresh-Mex" food. I have enjoyed everything I have tried here and the staff at this location has been very friendly thus far.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
