We were walking through the Shoppes at Grand Prairie and decided we would try this place for a late lunch. The Food: We ordered some miso soup and edamame for starters. The soup was actually a little better than the miso at other places in Peoria. It had a richer flavor and a depth that is usually not found in miso soup. The edamame was good and came out hot. I ordered the California and spicy tuna rolls and some salmon and tuna nigiri. The rolls were well made, firm, and tasted great. The nigiri was surprisingly large for the price and the fish tasted clean and fresh. The chef only put a very small amount of wasabe in the nigiri, which is a sure sign the fish is fresh (sometimes if fish is a little old chefs will increase the amount of wasabe to cover the fishy or off taste). My date ordered a couple of rolls that featured mainly veggies. This was the only down side to the food: the roll with asparagus in it just didn't taste right. Not because the ingredients weren't fresh, just because the flavors did not compliment each other very well. Asparagus has an overpowering flavor and is not easy to blend with other flavors. Next time we will try something else. The Staff: Overall the staff were attentive and polite, but the waiter who took over at the midway point of our meal visited our table three times before removing the spent edamame and accompanying bowls. I had to put a crumpled piece of paper on top of the shells to get him to take it away. The Atmosphere: Typical of this type of place. Very neat and clean with nicely shaded windows so there was no glare. Overall it was a very nice experience, but the star was definitely the food. I will be going back.

My friend and I each had a bento box. Chicken was hard and fried rice was dry. Quite disappointed!

Best hibachi in Peoria. Love the "yum yum" sauce and the Japanese mustard on the veggies too. The staff is very friendly and prompt. If you don't have time for the hibachi show, there is a dining room side that you can still order the hibachi food. They just prepare it in the kitchen. I'm not a sushi fan so I have no opinion on theirs. However I always see many people eating It.

Great food and service this evening. Very good tempura calimari and vegtables. The calamari was perfectly cooked melts in your mouth highly recommended! Service was excellent on the sushi side of resteraunt. Other people in my party had the avacado rolls and MT Fuji rolls both were great choices. We also had chicken fried rice. The rice was very good but the chicken was not very flavorful. I think we will try the shrimp fried rice next time.

Never order cocktails here, worst cocktails ever, they can't even make a Mojito...food is ok,we had hibachi chicken n salmon...
(2)Alex S.
Pretty good sushi. My expectations were exceeded - the tuna was very good. Our server was very polite and it was quickly prepared.
(4)Jackie H.
We had the manhattan roll, peanut roll, sagua roll. All very good rolls... The service was great...Presentation was best in town however Happy Fish is still the best in town
(3)Chad S.
Sagua Roll is awesome! Order it.

Terrible experience. My wife and I were seated at one table, ignored for awhile, then seated at another table where we were ignored for awhile more. Ultimately we walked out after an hour long wait, having been served two rounds of drinks only. Will never return. Apparently they received a low score on a recent health inspection so I'm glad we didn't end up eating there!

Great lunch special: $9 for 6 pieces of sushi, miso soup and salad, plus a california roll. Except that 6th piece of sushi is always something not fish. Like egg or this square fried pocket thing. I wish all 6 pieces were just fish. or eel or squid or something. Not egg or fried pocket.
(5)Josh K.
I saw no sign of it on the menu, but I rate them five stars because they will give you fabulous sushi in a soy paper wrap instead of the seaweed. Also, the chicken teriyaki there is excellent.
(5)Mike T.
I enjoyed the sushi here. I thought that the sushi was really fresh. There were specials being advertised and those had good prices. We ended up ordering one of those special rolls. However, I ate way too much because we ordered an extra appetizer too. Next time, we'll have to have the hibachi so I can see if it is any good.
(4)Sadiq S.
Try the las vegas sushi. The chefs at the hibachi grill are great. The prices are not too bad and the decor is nice. Not as good as sushigawa but comes a close second for best sushi in town.
(4)Andy J.
Sat in the dining area by the sushi bar. Generally good sushi, but nothing that really knocked my socks off. The "Sexy Girl" roll was very good, probably the best out of the six rolls we ordered. Food was as good if not a little better than Sushigawa, but a little more expensive as well. Good enough that I would go again after they have been open a while.
(4)Jason G.
This is the best Hibachi in town with good food and entertainment. Their bento box and Sushi rolls are amazing and are reasonably priced. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star is because their chicken is always dry. Seems like the tend to over cook it. Overall it's a great place to eat.
(4)Tawnie R.
I have to admit I'm a bit of a sushi addict... I have tried all the sushi restaurants in the Peoria area and this is hands down my favorite. I love the atmosphere and each roll is fantastic!!
(5)Angie O.
Great for lunch - got soup, salad, chicken teriyaki, an avocado roll, and gyoza all for $9 in the bento box lunch roll. Tasty, filling, good price. I'll definitely be back for lunch!
(4)Andrew R.
I've had better hibachi. Rice isn't special; lacks good flavor. "Japanese mustard" they serve is not good; avoid it. Avocado rolls aren't very good. The restaurant was empty/vacant. Your money is better spent elsewhere. You can get much much better food somewhere else.

Our visit was very enjoyable. We were greeted and seated promptly. The server we had was very attentive and friendly. Our entertainer/chef was awesome. He is quite good at his craft. Sorry chef and server; I didn't get your names. We had a variety of hibachi dishes. All were very good. I look forward to returning soon

Not too shabby! Not too shabby at all! :) I came here with a group of seven friends and some babies on a Saturday night around 5. The woman at the front said it wasn't a problem that we didn't have reservations because it was early enough, but she said it like she was annoyed by that. Strange first impression. The rest of the evening went along swimmingly. The food was really good (FABULOUS fried rice), and my steak was cooked really well. The person cooking wasn't as entertaining as some of the people I have had at other places, but he got the job done, so I guess it was ok! :) I would be back again. Especially for the fried rice! ;)
(4)Bob K.
Very good and fresh sushi. Nice upscale decor. CLEAN! Friendly waitstaff. I have been there several times and have never been disappointed.
(5)Debbie F.
The sushi is very good here, and I recommend the sexy girl roll as well as the soft shell crab roll. The nabeyaki udon soup (dinner version has more vegetables) is excellent. Service is always friendly, and the restaurant is clean, comfortable and quiet even when very busy.
(4)Jay M.
Food was great!!! The seater talked us into not doing the hibachi... The service in the table section was horrible 3 tables walked out without paying.. We waited. And waited.... After receiving our food I had to ask the manager for drinks (we had never received them after 30mins) personally I won't return
(3)Mike F.
Traveling with a girls softball team it can be difficult to find a place everyone can enjoy both atmosphere and the meal. I am glad to report that Osaka made the grade. The food was excellent and the chefs put on a great show; all had a good time. BTW I settled for the sushi, Sakura Roll, and it was very good. All in all an excellent meal with fun had by all.
(3)Peggy B.
I thought the food was very average. Cleaning supplies, etc.. are out in the waiting area - should have been my 1st clue. Service was fair, although the chef was entertaining. I would not go back.
(2)Scott L.
Stopped in while on vacation and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and creativeness of the sushi, and especially the recommended maki roll from the waitress: Sexy Boy. Not sure whether she was hinting at anything. :) The other rolls (lobster, etc) were well done and very tastefully presented - I had to snap a few pictures before devouring 'em. Wait staff was friendly and fast. My one beef is that the red wine selection is somewhat limited as when I was there, they only appear to have 2 pinot noir varieties. Otherwise the experience was very pleasant, and tasty.
(5)Denzil K.
I was in Peoria after not being there for handful of years. Things and places have changed, as well as selection of non-white food. We had a great time here with entertaining hibachi chef. The food is great there. Very nice and clean place. Will go there again next time I am in town.
(4)Dave B.
Nice hibachi place, good food and nice menu. I guess we have been to a few too many of these places because it seems like the standard "jokes" from the hibachi chef are getting pretty old. That aside, the food was great, especially the fresh cooked fried rice. We plan to go back soon to try the regular menu restaurant section.

I went to this place a few weekends ago with my family and really enjoyed it. We didn't sit around the grill because of little kids, but we did end up in a private little area were our baby could lay down and play and our small toddler couldn't bother anyone. It was neat. The table was sunk down into the ground and we sat on pillows. It was a very pleasant experience. I loved the drink I ordered (alcoholic) It was perfectly mixed and tasted wonderful. I still was able to order from the Habachi menu even if he didn't sit on that side of the restaurant. The food was WONDERFUL. I had Filet Mignon and it was soo tender it melted in my mouth. I will definitely be back. The wait staff was very pleasant. The rest of my family really enjoyed their food as well and I think my husband was very pleased with his sushi and sushimi.

After 2 visits, they are only going to score an average of 2 stars from me. The first visit was a 4 star and the second a 1 star. First time, server was friendly and offered suggestions. Food arrived after normal wait times and was fresh & tasty. The second visit, our server changed after getting our drinks and an app. The replacement couldn't speak good enough English to tell us what happened to our first server. We weren't brought waters with the mixed drinks, while eating our edamame I was brought soup & salad which I pushed to the side quite obviously. Then, about 3 mins later, while STILL eating the edamame, I was brought my salmon dinner. So now I have all my food in a 10 min window!?! Who has been eating here, Takeru Kobayashi??? So, slow down the service, if I wanted McDonalds I would go there. Also it was about 85 degrees inside so lets splurge and crank up the air shall we???

Delicious every time! Presentation is always great and there is always an explosion of flavors in every bite. I love this place and hope it sticks around for a long time. Best sushi in Peoria for sure!!!!
(5)Cara A.
Mmmmm. So yummy and good serving sizes on the hibachi.

Osaka Hibachi Grill and Sushi Bar is one of the newer Asian restaurants to the Peoria area. The decor and look of the place is very nice and the staff was very friendly. The hibachi grill chef was quite entertaining and the chef had personally told me that the quality of the food will be even better next time I come in...... cause they were getting a different supplier of meat.. etc.. etc.. the current food was fair. Osaka would be a great place to go to in large groups and/or take a date..etc etc. The look of the place is what does it for me but the food doesn't wow me but I've had a lot of Asian cuisine everywhere so that's not fair to the average diner to go off my review. One thing suggest to order is the salmon tartar which was fantastic and something different for me to try. So I say go try Osaka you could end up being a fan...

I came to this place about a month after it opened and was pleased. We sat in the sushi bar part and I thought it provided a nice atmosphere. I got green tea to drink and the vegetable tempura meal which came with salad and miso soup (yum). I thought it all tasted pretty good. My husband had a chicken dish (doesn't like tons of seafood) that was pretty good. I think we will be back..I'd like to try a few different things and get a better idea about this place. So far, I give it four stars.
(4)Michael S.
Pretty standard Hibachi grill. We had sushi as an appetizer; it was room temperature which threw me off a little bit. The edamame was average, but the pot stickers were very good. The chef was very talented and had the usual Hibachi grill jokes. The food exactly what you'd expect and I do not have any complaints. Most Hibachi grills I have been to have two sauces, one for meat and one for veggies, seafood and chicken. Osaka had three: meat, seafood, veggies and chicken (I think that was the break down).
(3)Camilla B.
Love this place! Everything is amazing! Sushi is small and really fresh! Also love the filet mignon hibachi! Just tryed the bento box and it was really good! Recommended!

Bottom line: won't be back. First impression was a still wet table that had clearly been wiped down with a less-than-clean rag. There was a lovely eau de mildew wafting up. Mmm, delicious. Immediately after that, someone started pounding on a drum. Why? I don't know. Someone's birthday? Apparently that necessitates walking through the entire restaurant pounding on a gigantic (SERIOUSLY IT WAS BIG) drum. Next we hear what I swear I thought must've been some exotic caged monkey being agitated, but it turns out it was just the annoying horn on the cart they take to the hibachi tables. HONK HONK SQUEAKY SQUEAKY HONK HONK HONK. Then, a minute later, the cart heads back into the kitchen, honking all the way. Naturally, this happened repeatedly throughout the evening. It's like being at the circus, except you're paying thirty bucks a head for food! Just what I've always wanted! The service was okay, though I watched one guy grumpily get up from his table and go to the bar to get a refill for his beer, after he got tired of waiting. The sushi was... man, Yelp really hits the mark describing two stars as "meh." The sushi was 100% pure meh. I got a chirashi bowl, which was okay. The fish was fresh and tasty, but they SERIOUSLY PUT KANIKAMA IN IT. What the hell, guys? Krab is for rolls, where if you don't pay very close attention, you might really think it's crab. You don't put a big chunk of it in chirashi and think no one's gonna notice. Major garnish pet peeve, too, they piled shaved daikon on top of my rice, and then laid the fish on top of that. The rice and fish are supposed to mingle and cuddle and love each other. Don't put daikon between them. My husband's sushi was even less impressive. He ordered the spicy maki platter, and nothing was actually spicy, and the tuna rolls were warm and smelled off. He also ordered a spider roll, and usually when you get a spider roll, it's a bigass roll, but oh no, not here. The Osaka spider roll is a five piece roll. Total ripoff at $10. Plus they put lettuce in it. Lettuce is a crime against sushi. Stupid lettuce. Anyway. Hardly the worst sushi I've ever had, but even in Peoria, we've got better options than this.
(2)Dave M.
Sushi is good here and cheap if you going during lunch. Much better than the Kobe Steakhouse buffet I was hitting before. Plus, the woman there always seems like you upset her by showing up and wanting food. The hibachi deal at dinner maybe was a bit pricy and i'm sure it's better elsewhere, but for P-town ya wont have many choices. Staff here are pretty nice and one of the main reasons I go back.
(4)Clay U.
I have yet to have a hibachi type experience that just blows me away. The tricks are all the same and I feel forced to laugh at lame jokes and wow at a firey onion. I think the food is good and sometimes wish I could eat that without the show. This place is good for all the above. I do not know about the sushi though.
(3)K S.
Would give it 0 stars if I could...They would NOT honor their own gift cards! Not alot of brains going on at this establishment. Are you kidding me??
(1)Colby H.
Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of seafood or Eastern cuisine. But, I go here every once in awhile when the mood strikes. I like their spicy crab roll and their steak and shrimp hibachi is a good option. I do not, however, like that they are inconsistent with what they will do for their guests. I am not a fan of their salad (mainly due to the dressing that comes standard on it) or their attempt at what I assume is Miso soup. Unfortunately, both items come as the standard "appetizer" to the Hibachi experience. The first time that I visited the restaurant - and at least twice after that - I was allowed to substitute a side portion of additional rice with my Hibachi order at no additional charge. But, every time that I have been in the last three months or so, I have been told that - even though I am eliminating two items and substituting just one - they have to charge me extra for the side portion of rice. Now, I understand that being the case, if I were getting the rice AND the salad and soup, but I'm not.. and they're asking me to pay the extra $2.00 or so for the rice? Come on, guys. Rice is very inexpensive. A simple substitution should not bring on an extra $2.00 charge, especially at an establishment that is a little on the higher side of where they should be, to begin with. If you policy is going to be that the substitution is NEVER going to be allowed, then please put that in writing somewhere on the menu. But, be consistent with what you do! Don't randomly say that the substitution is allowed at no charge during one visit, and then tell me at the next visit that it's an extra $2.00.

I have been to this restaurant twice and loved it!!! It is a bit pricey-but the food was worth it. Plus- I love the skit the put on while they prepare your food. The whole atmosphere was wonderful. The only dislike I have was the dressing on the salad.
(5)Dawn S.
Great place. I love the Sexy Girl roll. What great addition to the Shoppes and the area for a fun place with great food!
(5)Yvonne I.
I love Hibachi restaurants. Theres just something about the overall experience that always makes me happy. For my 21st birthday I wanted to have a meal with a group of friends that would be memorable. I wanted to try this newer place in Peoria for a nice Hibachi dinner, but dinner was around $20, and thats a stretch for most college students. I opted for lunch instead since that was half the price of dinner. It was easy for me to make a day of reservation for my group of 10 people. Our chef was the usual cheery and fun type of guy you would expect at these type of places. The hibachi tasted really good, and one of my guests had a bento sushi box and said it was tasty as well. At the end of the meal, the chef asked if anyone was 21, and then when I raised my hand, he poured sake down my throat. It was very unexpected, but it was appropriate for it being my 21st and the pictures people took were hilarious. A great restaurant to go to, and next time I will try their sushi.
(5)Tim S.
It was ok, but overpriced. Wasn't much under $10. Sushigawa is better, just wish they were a bit more creative. Don't think I'll be back without a home equity line of credit.
(2)Kasey L.
I'm in love with this sushi bar! The food is amazing and the staff so polite it's awesome. When my friend and I first walked in we were greeted by the owner and given seats at the sushi bar. The table was clean and the two chefs in front of us, while very busy and not that great with English, they talked with us and were great fun. When we got our food it was in presentable little dishes, while not off the charts interesting, the presentation was clean, neat, and elegant.(This is what it looked like: upload.wikimedia.org/wik… = this is an example not the actual meal we ate.) Osaka has something called a Bento Box (lunch box) and is actually, I found, a pretty good price. (Around $9.) You get a good amount of selections and the teriyaki whatever-you-get will have an amazing flavor. My only complaint is their fish tank. While it has some interesting looking fish in it, the tank is bear and lackluster. I think. however, if that really is my only complaint, Osaka is on he right track. I'll be going back for more, probably even tonight. :)
