About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.

I have previous experiences with Apple's Bakery and they were good about three years ago. I went there last Friday, and I could not believe how rude and lifeless the older woman was who waited on me. I went in to buy some treats for my nephew and his family. Here are the results: Cinnamon rolls tasted like dish soap; sugar cookies were burned -- not just lightly burned -- they were BURNED -- and covered up with way too much frosting so I guess you wouldn't notice when you bit into the hard cookie under the frosting; the cupcake was nasty and that was from a four year old and four year old's do not criticize sugar normally; and the pumpkin pie was not as good as what you can buy at Kroger's in their bakery. So, I will not be venturing back to Apple's Bakery in the future. I will go to the true and completely delectable bakery in the Heights -- Trefzger's where you can still get good baked goods. And I have to add, I was at a charity event in the last few months and sat at the table with the woman who owns this place -- if she thought any more of herself -- no one else would have fit in the room. Very rude and very inconsiderate of others. Not on my list of places to visit ever again.

I've been upset about my holiday cookie tray from Apples, but am just now going online to vent my frustrations. I ordered their small holiday cookie tray ($30 I believe.)I was looking forward to some of my favorites that I'd enjoyed before. I realized it would be a holiday variety, so I wasn't that disappointed that I didn't recognize any of the cookies. My initial visual reaction was YUCK! Nothing even remotely attractive or enticing in the whole tray. I brought it out on Christmas eve, and everyone just picked at it, trying to find a tasty treat. There really wasn't one good cookie in the bunch! I didn't make any excuses. Told my guests where they were from. I didn't want anyone to think I'd made anything so bad. Without exception, each cookie tried was heavy and tasteless. I took the rest to work and they wouldn't eat them either! Won't ever make that mistake again.

I'm giving it 2 stars because the baked desserts are pretty good and it is a bakery. However if you are planning to have lunch there plan to leave hungry. The portions are pretty small for the prices and its nothing really special. I guess I can give it one more star for the nice homey decor on the inside.

YUM. Made from scratch cookies, pies, and soups. The staff really make you feel at home when you walk in. They usually know your name after one or two visits, and they cater, too! The cakes are awesome and Mary's fudge is to die for (sadly, only available a Christmas, I think). They have internet wi-fi and a great atmosphere whether for a baby shower, bridge game, or studying. One of the hidden treasures in peoria!

This is a nice bakery. There is one section with good natural light and bistro tables. Another section is more of a living room style with couches and a kids' play table area. You can get deli items, bakery, lunch and coffee. The staff was friendly and easy to converse with. I'm looking forward to my chocolate truffle and dutch apple pie.

Wow - sounds like old Becca has a personal axe to grind. First of all let me start with the products at Apples. They are amazing!! I have sent gifts all over the country and each person who has received them has raved over the baked goods. I serve their products at parties and holidays - everyone loves them. I eat their cookies whenever possible because they are so much better than any I have ever tasted. As for the owner, Mary is a strong and confident entrepreneur who is kind and supports this community more than most people ever know. Yelp is a forum to discuss products and places. It shouldn't be used by ignorant people who want to slam someone they obviously do not know personally.

After seeing a yummy looking treat on a local TV news show, I dropped by to pick up some goodies. I'd been to Apple's only once before a few years ago. What I didn't like about the place then is still what I don't like about the place now. I disagree with Ann A. who says the staff really makes you feel at home. The staff made me feel like I was a bother. I wanted to get some cookies. I picked a few from one side of the case and the lady asked, impatiently, if I wanted any more from that side of the case. I said I didn't think so. I picked out some from the other side of the case but decided I wanted a few chocolate chip. Oh, NO. The chocolate chip were from the first side. She huffed, and got the cookies out. Then she walked off and left a younger woman to finish assisting me. The cookies were fine. I love the snicker doodles. But they are not so fine that I'll go out of my way to go there again where I'm treated like an inconvenience. By the way - it was late Friday afternoon and I was the only person in the shop at the time.

I am a fan of Apples and have been for a while. I went there hoping to get their awesome chocolate chip cookies and they were sold out which was a bummer since I live in Chicago. However, they now ship cookies so I may try that! Macadamian cookies are a great second cookie choice!

I have been there a few times with friends and although the place looks nice once inside, the pastries are definitely quite greasy and full of unneeded calories. It is a real disappointment and if you really want top notch quality bakery products, Trefzger's is way better, so is the Great Harvest Bread. Don't waste your appetite at Apple's....

Very happy with this place and I can't wait to go back. The food I had (described below) was fantastic and the staff was very friendly. Stop by if you can! Veggie Hummus Wrap - Not a huge fan of wraps, but this one is helping to sway me more in that direction. The veggies were fresh and a good combination. Plus, the hummus kind of helped fill in the gaps between the veggies and give it a meatier feel. Blueberry Scone - pretty delicious, it included blueberries, a little bit of lemon, walnuts and cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top. Worth getting again! Meltaway Cookie - It's a big sugar cookie that pretty much melts/falls apart in your mouth...Delicious!

Lots of space and had a nice team event there but can get a bit slow at breakfast. Server tried to make each breakfast before taking the next order. Love the half off treats on the way home from work, though not rung up correctly often.

I went to Apple's Bakery for lunch and got their 1/2 soup and 1/2 sandwich combo for $8.25 (more expensive than Panera bread) and all I got was a 1/2 sandwich (on a small sandwich bread you can get at your grocery store) and 1/2 a cup of soup!! seriously....1/2 cup of soup???!! (at least Panera gives you a full cup of soup). You can get a lot better tasting food and bigger portion at Panera bread across the street. Their taste is ordinary at best. The chicken salad tasted like it just came out of the can. Don't waste your money here and go to Panera or Avanti's for better food and better deal. You will leave hungry if you eat lunch here.
