Great service with really pleasant people. Got a salad and a cookie (delicious). Also, the woman making the coffee drinks was nice enough to give me a sample of a drink she made too much of after I asked what it was. Just a nice cafe atmosphere that I will be back to during my lunch break while traveling. It's great to find reliable places like this while on the road for work.

Wonderful little place in they historic section of Pekin. The pastries are fresh, cookies and muffins are top shelf. Great selection of coffees. I had a double espresso for under two dollars. I highly recommend this place.

Great cafe. Nice art and atmosphere. Great food. Make sure to try the cafe mocha.

Cannot believe the way I have witnessed the owners treating their staff. Completely unacceptable. I will never spend my money here ever again! I also witnessed the owner get an attitude with a costumer because they asked for some cream in their Italian soda?! Rude rude rude.

Wonder service. Very fast!! Our waitress was beautiful, and friendly. We could see the owner the whole time we were here-- actively participating (which is rare for me to see) came out in like 3 min. I ordered a build your own breakfast sandwich, and my father had an omelette. Both were DELICIOUS. I wish I was local so I could stop in my often. They also offer free wifi.

Food was ok- nothing spectacular but edible. I liked the coffee selection. I asked for a to-go cup for my coffee and when I went to get a refill in my to-go cup and all the coffee was dumped already. Might be a good idea to let people know that you're about to dump the coffee right after they ask for it to go cup. I wasn't too pleased with this and then the guy behind the counter offered me an iced coffee instead. I said sure, that would be great - all I needed was a little caffeine fix for a road trip. I didn't care if it was hot coffee or iced coffee. Then they proceeded to ring me up for the iced coffee! Instead of offering me a free refill of iced coffee, they were going to charge me in addition to the bottomless cup I had already purchased, another amount for an iced coffee! I declined. if the service wasn't poor, it would've been a much higher rating. They also mopped the bathrooms that we were sitting next to with a very pungent cleaner that actually made us cough. While not impressive, I would go back, but I would make sure that I got all of my coffee upfront.

Great service and wonderful sandwiches. I had the turkey club and loaded baked potato soup. Wife had the same. Kids had the BLT, ham and cheese, and Italian panini. All of the sandwiches were great. The soup was a bit thick but tastes good. Mocha cafe was ok (a bit more mocha than cafe). Priced reasonably.

Well trained staff! Great food, can get busy at times but that just goes to show what they have to offer! I Recommend the chicken club or Reuben sandwhich always on point..and they have a drink selection that will blow your mind..highly recommend stopping in for breakfast or lunch sometime!

Until recently I would have considered CJ's a staple of Pekin. The friendly staff, food and drinks assured lots of repeat cliental. It wasn't unusual to find me working in the windowed seat 3 or 4 times a week. Unfortunately, the business changed hands in the summer of 2013 and it's not the same place. Don't get me wrong I gave it a fair chance after the new ownership. I extended more grace to them than I would have given any other business because I loved the place. Here's what I've witnessed under the new regime. * Customers ignored. * Food prepared wrong. * Lethargic service. * Wait staff cut in half. * Argumentative ownership. I can only hope someone can buy this business for a steal before it's reputation is tarnished too badly.

Great Cafe for Coffee, Panini's and Free Wifi in Pekin, IL! I randomly found while doing business on the road in Pekin. Great find if you're looking for a great cafe and panini. The ambiance and environment is unique and is enjoyable and has that "main street" in an old town charm that is always nice to hang out at and to get some work done on the laptop. Grab a mocha latte, and chicken pesto panini, you won't be disappointed, especially when the bill comes, as everything is reasonably priced (or am I just used to being in an expensive city?) The staff rocks!!! The owner and staff are great people who seem to really love their job and it shows as I was compelled enough to write this for them. The owner is great and full of energy. I stayed here for almost 5 hours straight working at a table and got to meet the owner. She is great, full of energy, as I learned when she began to close up shop and start prepping for her wedding she is catering tonight. So if you like the food here, check out her catering, it smells amazing right now.

The coffee's not great here but I love the atmosphere and small town charm of it all. I'm from out of town and it's obvious and I've gotten a lot of funny looks from both customers and employees, but I kinda like that. I like it a lot.

I love their panini sandwiches! Their # 1 selling sandwich is the Turkey Club Panini, followed by the Ham and Cheese (watch out for the peppers!) and Italian. If you're looking for something light, try the Chicken Broccoli Pita. All the other sandwiches are delicious too though I've never tried the BLT or the lunch wrap. Honestly you can't really go too wrong in the sandwich department. I don't particularly like CJ's grilled cheese, egg salad, or peanut butter and jelly as they are too bland. Their soups are very good overall and usually if you ask for a sample they will give you a little bit to try (at least when I worked there they did!). Their #1 salad is the Parmesan Peppercorn Chicken Salad which is very filling and good. Their quiche is delicious as well=) It's a nice little locally owned place. The coffee was locally roasted when I was working there so that was a bonus as well. Espresso drinks really depend on who is making it (if they are a good barista or not). However, the best selling drink for the summer was the frescante (which you really can't mess up) and is basically a Starbuck's frappacino.

I came across this place while driving downtown Pekin one day. I told my wife we should stop in sometime. What a treat! Great coffee and atmosphere. The muffins were excellent and so were the sandwhiches (we went back for lunch a few weeks later). Great place.
