Great veggie panini. Would eat there again. Absolutely.

This place makes my 4 ur old and her foodie parents happy! We have had all of their styles of pizzas...love their Italian style pizzas and their Sicilian style as well. Our favorite is definitely the grilled seafood appetizer! My daughter loves their pasta. Friendly service and the food never disappoints. Our new family favorite place.

Came here kinda on a whim. Their pizza is definitely pretty good- with a few tweaks this pizza would be awesome!! First off, it's kinda hidden in a street behind the tracks. I kinda like that- parking is plentiful and easy. When we got there on a Wed. night during prime dinner time, we were the only ones there. We got the calamari app and 2 pizzas, the lasagna and the navona, both neopolitan style. The calamari was cooked well and not over done, but the marinara sauce was a bit blandish. The crusts on the pizza are what they were supposed to be... super thin, bubbled up, chewy and burnt around some of the edges... yum!! The quality of the ingredients however, were pretty standard I would say. If they used more quality cheeses (which the parmesan that you have to ask for that they keep behind the counter is def yum) and more quality meats/toppings, this place would definitely be a no-miss kinda place. The lasagna pizza was pretty good, but you needed to have a little extra oomph to it, and the parmesan helped. The navona pizza, which is a creamy bacon/potato/onion concoction, turned out to be tasty but the texture was a little odd. The cream was super thin, so the middle of the pizza was soggy as heck, the bacon wasn't crispy and the potatoes turned out to be fries. Overall it tasted better than the lasagna I think, but that recipe needs to be fixed in order to not have such a runny pie. Overall I'm glad that we stopped by, it's definitely the closest thing we have in our neighborhood to neopolitan style pizzas and actually better than some of the places that claim to have that style pizza in the city. Hopefully they will perfect their pizzas just a tad and if so, we will be here often!!

Grigliata is the best around, hands down.

We love this pizza. The ingredients are always fresh and great tasting and that makes for an amazing pizza. The thin-crust is always done lightly brown and crispy, but not dry. The above combination makes Panino's our favorite pizza.

I don't know where these other people have been eating their Italian food, but I would in no way say that about this place. There are plenty of great italian places in the Park Ridge/Edison Park area that I would more quickly trust for good italian than this place... HOWEVER, their sandwiches and salads are delicious and their pizza's A-Okay. Thus far, I've had their Greek Salad, Candied Walnut Salad, and a few others, as well as a few of their sandwiches including the Grilled Chicken sandwich that compelled me to finally write a review. Hands down, best salads and sandwiches in town. I work in the area and their are over 20 resturants in walking distance, and given the amount of lunches and dinners I've had in the passed two years working here, I've tried them all. For a good salad I definitely go to Panino's. Best salads I've ever had? Prob not, BUT they're up there for a quick bite kind of place. I think the only REAL complaint or concern that I have with this place is their menu. It's enormous. SO enormous, in fact, that they can't POSSIBLY have all of the ingredients (fresh at least) in their kitchen. For instance, the pizza, salads, sandwiches, they prob have the typical Italian setup, and that part is DEFINITELY working for them. The burger, gyro, burrito, pot roast sanwiches on the other hand...? how many people are really ordering this stuff to keep it fresh? ON top of all that they have the Dinner Entres which includes a ton of BBQ stuff and then ON TOP OF THAT all their pasta dishes....and SEAFOOD dishes..... I have only had one or two of their pasta dishes, and I was definitely unimpressed. It was kind of bland or "stock" to me. I think this place is great over all, but I don't think I'll be going their any time soon for a great Italian dinner. I used to enjoy their pizza a lot more too before one of their current (and my former) employees told me about their High butter-fat cheese for their pizzas...I know a lot of cheaper pizza places do this...but I definitely didn't need ot know about it.

Four stars for a great BYOB place that is casual yet has surprisingly great apps, pasta and Artisian pizza. Highly recommend eating in vs just ordering a pizzas for delivery. At times kitchen timing is strange (everything comes out at the same time) but the food makes up for that.

Used Paninos for the St. Paul of the Cross- Mens Club Bags Tournament. They delivered on time (for 90 people), on target on how much food I needed and the food was awesome.

Absolutely loved this place. We went in for lunch on a Wednesday and ordered a thin crust Margherita and it was delicious. We wanted to try the Artisan Pizza but they only serve it after a certain hour. Booo! Other than that I think the service was great and the prices were fair. The server could not be more attentive to us. Next time I'll stop by after 4:00 pm so that I can try the Artisan Pizza.

Slow Slow Slow......Hour and Half to get order delivered at 2pm in the afternoon. Pizza is average...no better or worth the wait. Order elsewhere you have many choices.

they got some idiot running the credit card machine.....................would never order from this place again, rude and yelling on the phone trying to resolve an issue they messed up on.

Maybe their dinner is better... But my lunch experience hasn't been all that good. Since I work at a building next to it, it's just right down stairs to get to this restaurant, so it's convenient, but their lunch menu wasn't good for take-out. I think the dine-in lunch is available, but the lunch special is only available for dining in. I much prefer Gumba Jones across the street.

Without a doubt Panino's Pizzeria is the WORST PIZZA! Order 5 large Pizza's for a party and they were inedible. The crust was so tough you couldn't chew through it. When I called and complained the manager said there is nothing they can do about it because "A pizza is a pizza". Really? Can you imagine a manager making such a ridiculous comment. The only thing worse than their food is their customer service. They serve dog food at this place. Stay Away!

I am providing two reviews, one gluten free review and one review from a non-gluten free perspective. From a Gluten Free, I would give it 3 stars. While they have several GF choices they are not knowledgable about ingredients in some of their fishers or salad dressings. While I was waiting for our waitress to take our order, I overheard another customer asking about the salad dressing and whether they were GF. The waitstaff did not know. When I ordered I made the same request, I asked if they could check. I was told they don't make it there so they could not tell me what was in the dressings. This is not just a GF issue but an allergy issue. I did order the potato gnocchi and it was delicious. I also ordered the Grigliata which is GF and very good. The rest of my group ordered different dishes and they loved everything. We only found this place because we ordered online from Grub hub and they have an Evanston location. We then discovered they have other locations which are closer to our friends and family. We loved finding this place in Park Ridge.

We ordered the grandma pizzas for 2 it was over $50. This was for 2, 14 inch pizzas. That alone blew my mind. When they arrived the wee nothing special as far as I was concerned. We both had two slices of our separate pizzas and kinda just shrugged. It was nothing to write home about.

This place was delicious. The staff was super friendly. Lots of choices on the menu. I had the Grigliata (grilled seafood) Appetizer as my meal. It was awesome. I could not believe the size and how generous they were with the seafood. It had a delicious grilled taste. The rapini and white beans accompanied it so well. I was extremely happy with my decision. My fiancé had the mostaccioli with meat sauce and it was delicious. Great sauce. Perfect seasoning. Even the fresh made bread was very good. We can not wait to come back for the pizza. It looks so awesome. Nice little place too. We'll be back

Absolute terrible place!!!! If you like going to places that have insane rules about what time you can order certain food than this is a place for you! We have gone twice the first time was for sandwiches; we wanted to sit down and have sandwiches so we order our drinks she comes back and ask what we would like we tell her sandwiches and she said its after 4pm you can't order them in the restaurant after 4 you can only order those for pick up or delivery... So obviously they can still certainly make them they just have insane rules. So yesterday we walked over and by walked were talking a couple miles for their artisan pizza we wanted a late lunch around 2:30 so we again order our drinks she comes back we go to order their artisan lasagna pizza... Oh no you can't order it before 4pm so we told her to give us a minute and we left NEVER GOING BACK!!!! You've lost several customers now! I wish there was an option for zero stars because you've earned just that. Did I mention the place is tiny we've tried to go at dinner time you can get a table it's not like it's some amazing place that you wait months for reservations for your a damn pizza place get over yourselves!!! The whole reason we went early to get the pizza was so we could sit down and eat esp since you won't even deliver that pizza because of your insane rules!! Your all insane your rules are insane! Did I mention during this yesterday all of there staff was sitting on their asses and not one got up and apologized they continued to act like we didn't exist!!!! So if you choose tis place be very mindful of the time and know going in that what you want will probably be in available until two more hours or you missed that time and will have to plan ahead and go tomorrow!

I have only experience their carryout but I will not order Italian from anywhere else. I have tried half dozen of their entrees and not had a bad experience. The portions are enough for 2 meals so don't let the price fool you. It is well worth it. Their delivery has arrived earlier than expected every time and the delivery personal are always pleasant. Everything from their main courses to their soup to the salads are very good. Perfect for single person to have dinner and some leftovers for lunch. I highly recommend the Chicken Parmesan and the Fettucine Alfredo. I can't wait to try the pizza but everything else is so good I have not gotten there yet.

  • Lauren H.

Great for carry out or delivery. The pizza is fantastic and the beef sandwiches are yummy! I've now tried three of the pizza styles and liked them all and found them all 'authentic'. I cannot recommend dining in though as the service is not very good.

This place is a true hidden gem! The Neapolitan artisan pizza is the star of the show. The pizza is as good as any of the top places in Chicago and he atmosphere is quaint and casual.

  • Linda N.

Was able to stop in for dinner and was surprised at how small the place was as my prior experience has been with their HUGE to go menu. Dinner was ribs, baked potato and cream chix soup. The bowl of soup that comes with dinner is easily a lunch on its own w/ bread, very tasty, fresh soup - that for a cream soup - was not pasty or gloopy (not real word?). The half slab ribs were a better experience than a recent "BBQ" place I recently reviewed (which thankfully didnt sour me on trying ribs elsewhere). Partner at eggplant parm and said it was the best ever had and broccoli cheddar soup phenomenal! I work nearby so may get to check out the lunch menu. Be forewarned if you're a customer that has ordered to go, their dine in dinner menu is much smaller!

Been here 6 or 7 times loved it everytime. Every dish I've ever had has been great this is hand downs the best Italian place in Rark Ridge and surrounding area. Food is great and prices are very reasonable. Really like the artisan pizza, if you like mushrooms the crimini mushrooms they use are really tasty. Calamari is always fresh and always cooked perfectly. (pretty sure I've had it everytime). Mussels are Huge some of biggest tastiest mussels I've ever had and priced really reasonably. Last time tried spinach stuffed gnocchi, (gnocchi tartufo) in a creamy white wine garlic sauce, delicious!!!! Love the food hope you guys stay in Park Ridge for years to come. Try this place you won't be dissapointed!!

Hidden gem just behind Uptown. This place is casual and serves delicious food. I especially like their Neapolitan style pizzas for dinner and the sandwiches for lunch. Very friendly place- great for lunch or a casual dinner. Always been tasty and friendly and I must have been there 10 times.

We ordered pizza last week from Panino's and it was delicious. Tonight we placed an order at 5:53 and received our freezing pizza at 7:10 That is way too long to wait for a cold pizza that cost $25.00 I called and complained and they said they would send out another pizza. Pizza arrives at 8:15 colder than the first one if that is possible, but this one was not cooked. You should quit working in the restaurant industry if you can't keep up with Saturday night demands. I will never order from them You suck!

  • Jayson J.

Very good deep dish pizza. It reminded me of Peqoud's or Burt's, but I believe I liked the sauce more at Paninos. Delivery took about one hour on a Friday night and pizza was hot and delicious. The salad and wings were the only reason I wouldn't rate this as five stars...they were both rather blah. The place seems to be the family go to pizzeria if we do not feel like Giordano's by O'Hare.

We ordered take out, so I can't speak to the service or the ambiance of the restaurant. We asked for the pizza to be ready at a certain time, so we could pick it up and head a couple blocks away for one of Park Ridge's concerts in the park. We ended up choosing one of their artisan neopolitan pizzas, specifically, the parma pizza. It had proscuitto and arugula on it, which is my favorite. It was cooked perfectly and the flavors were great. My only criticism is that they didn't cut the pizza. Unfortunately, we didn't notice it until we got to the park and set up shop, so my husband had to walk back and ask for utensils (we didn't bring any since we were eating pizza). They told us they don't cut the artisan pizzas unless you specifically ask for it, so note that for the future. Overall, I did really like the pizza. It fed 2 of us easily. I'd say the artisan pizza is very comparable to the wood fired pizzas from Affresco. Both are great. We'll definitely be ordering from Panino's again.

The food here is always excellent, but I couldn't give it five stars on this particular visit because we had a friend with us from out of town and we had told her about how great their sandwiches or panini were and we were all surprised when we sat down to order and were told you cannot have a sandwich for dinner in the dining room. The name of this restaurant is Panino yet we cannot order a sandwich!?!? We tried talking to the manager but he said it is a policy in place. They were strict about their policy and we were forced to order to go. The dining room was empty as it was 8 pm on a Sunday. It just doesn't make sense that you can order to go but not allow one person to order in the dining room. The food was still great and the bread is always fresh, but don't plan to dine in and order light.

A great little pizza joint. The pizza is good especially the thin crust Classico. I love their side salad (not on the menu -ask for it) and their Italian dressing. This place is not fancy, but the pizza is good, the service is great, it is clean and usually not too busy, just a nice mixture of mostly locals.

    (4)
  • Lisa G.

The best Pizza in the area! We just had a Margarita Pizza and a Sausage, ricotta & fresh basil pizza. Both thin crust and both delivered fast and hot. Next time we are going to come in and try the extra thin crust!

Our experience is with their poor preformance for take out meals. We have given them the benifit of doubt but they have consistanly shorted or given the wrong items. It is a hassle to arrive home looking forward a meal and and not getting what was ordered.

Holy carp, has this place gone downhill, just in the past month or so! All three of my last three orders have been wrong. The first one was just barely on time against the hour estimate (technically two minutes late, but I'm not that person... unless you screw up again) and the driver forgot THE thing that made the artisan pizza an artisan pizza: the arugula. Then I had to sit there and wait 20 minutes for the arugula to show up, while the pizza sat in my oven, getting sadder and sadder. I contacted Panino's and was given a credit on my account. So I tried it again. This time, while they delivered quickly, they brought Coke instead of Diet Coke (and the receipt said regular, so it wasn't the driver's fault). I was disappointed, but it could have been my fault, I suppose, for not asking them to read back my order. But, should I have to do that?! So, because it may have been my fault, I tried them again. Tonight, my pizza arrived 12 minutes late against an hour promise. And, while this time the receipt said Diet Coke, the driver didn't have it, and it wasn't even in the car. I was so disappointed and angry that I sent the driver away with the order. I called Panino's to let them know, and I got apologies. I'm sure the owner or whomever will contact me again, but am I expected to subject myself to the "What's going to be wrong this time" game again? I hope for the business's sake they get their act together. I LOVED the artisan pizzas, everything was yummy (except the mozzarella sticks, which are sad), and they always delivered in half the promise time or less (I'm a mile straight down NW Hwy). But I can't deal with this repeated quality issue. If you don't care what you get, when you get it, then give them a whirl. UPDATE: I just received an e-mail from someone at Panino's (don't know if it was the "Gino" who signed the prior note, because this was unsigned). I replied to the e-mail where they notified me of the credit for the first problem, so they might understand why I was so upset. Not remotely handled professionally. Here's the e-mail (starting with what I wrote, so you can see exactly what he was responding to. On Apr 26, 2013, at 7:17 PM, [redacted] wrote: I placed my second order since this issue, and it was 12 minutes late (on an hour promise) and the driver didn't have the Diet Coke in my order. Quick delivery, good service, average pizza. We ordered a thin crust and it was more like cardboard. Nothing special, definitely something better in the neighborhood.

A hidden gem. For reals. Probably some of the best pizza crust I've had in a while. A little chew, a few burnt spots. A real winner. I felt the quality of the toppings were decent but not great. With a few tweaks, this pizza could go from a really good neighborhood spot to gourmet. We had the calamari which was decent. Cooked well. I would probably skip this to make room for more pizza next time. The lasagna pizza with meatballs and ricotta was good but a tad bland. Great crust though, like I mentioned before. The Navona pizza with potato, bacon, onion, and cream was a winner from a taste standpoint. The only issues I had was that the cream, while tasty, was a bit heavy handed and make the crust soggy. The potatoes also seemed to be french fries. Really enjoyed it though. Overall, We'd definitely come back. Great crust and the service was great too.

Ordered cheesy beef and bosco sticks, both were perfect. I'm big on italian beefs and this one is definitely up there. I placed the order for delivery through grubhub and received my food in less than 30min(I'm about a mile away). Pretty much every place I order from takes an hour but I was very surprised at the speed. Also the food was very hot and fresh.

This place is such a gem. We've had multiple dinners delivered to us and each time we've been impressed. We tried the Lenny D's Misto di Mare pizza and it was amazing. Imagine baked clams and calamari on a pizza. We've also created our own pizzas using GrubHub and the results always come out good--try prosciutto on a pizza, it's fantastic. They're prompt and accurate. I never knew this place existed but I'm glad to have found them.

Amazing food. Both the artisan and regular thin pizzas were great and desserts too. Staff was very friendly. Great casual atmosphere - BYOB.

Very very good. Their Pizza is excellent, for me it's the best that delivers to my house on the northwestern tip of Chicago. Which is saying something considering the area is pretty saturated with non-chain competent pizza joints. Yet, their entree's hold their own. Their pasta sauce (gravy) is above average, and gets the seal of approval of my neighbor, who happens to be a very discerning italian cook (who makes great sauce in her own right). Egg Plant Parm and the Saltimboca are my go to's when I'm not in the mood for pizza. The bread they bake in house is great too, it's not hard crust artisan per se, but it's great for sopping (I think it's a variation on their pizza crust actually). As far as the service, I've always had good results, no complaints there.

This review is based on the (wood-buring) pizza alone, which was ordered to-go. The ingredients tasted good, but I found the crust way too thick and thus way too chewy for authentic Italian pizza. I mean, it was like pulling teeth to get a bite off. My jaw was hurting after!

I just had the most incredibly AMAZING pizza ever from this place! I want to scream it to the world! I had a Sicilian Deep Dish w/Gorgonzola, Fresh Garlic, and Sausage. It was HEAVENLY. The flavors were so perfect together!! The crust was fluffy and DELICIOUS as hell. I am definitely ordering this again. I think this was even better than Lou Malnatis, although I do love Lou's as well. I just think this flavor combination along with their sauce and crust is to die for. Say it with me: "Sicilian Deep Dish w/Gorgonzola, Fresh Garlic, and Sausage."

The pros: Panino's food was very good. The fried mozzarella was fantastic, and my main dish was a huge portion of rigatoni, sausage, mushrooms and peas in a tomato cream sauce. Yummy. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and personable. I like that in a waiter. I'd go back just to see him. The rest of the service was also very friendly. It's off the beaten path (so it's not overly crowded) and you can tell it's a well-run family-owned establishment. The cons: We had to wait way too long for our food. We came in Halloween night, when there were literally no other people in there, and it took an hour to get our food. With a tired 2-year-old, that was brutal. We finally had to leave mid-meal, drive a half-hour home and eat the rest at home. Major bummer. No fountain soda. I'm sorry, but I really dislike restaurants that don't have fountain soda. I always feel compelled to drink just one can, or know I have to pay for another. What can I say? I'm a midwesterner, and I like my soda all-you-can-drink for $2.50. Prices were a bit higher than I wanted to pay on a run-of-the mill Monday night.

Love this place, food is amazing and the price is reasonable. The staff behind the counter can be slow and awkward but its never affected my visit. 4 Square told me I was there 20 times last month so I figured I'd better share my experience here.

A co-worker and I go to Panino's at least once a week and love this place:) The owner is the best and she is so sweet to every customer that comes through the door. She make everyone feel welcome. The cream of chicken soup is to die for as is the thin crust pizza. Wish I lived closer but I guess I'll have to made due with lunch.

My favorite pizza place, imagine my delight when I moved to Park Ridge from Evanston and discovered there was a Panino's in Park Ridge! Nice location and incredibly friendly staff! I hope more people discover this place. My favorite thin crust pizza around, but try the new Artesian pizzas for a more authentic Italian style pizza. They're available for dine-in or carryout only. I promise, you will not be disappointed!

Extensive menu...and everything I've tried is excellent! Pizza is one of the best in Park Ridge. Pasta dishes are unique and homemade. Even the italian roasted 1/2 chicken was outstanding. Good specials, and GREAT SERVICE.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
