Their food and service was amazing! We stopped here on our way back from a trip where we drove using the 'side roads" rather than the interstates and are so glad we did! All their pasta is made fresh daily on site and the quality shows in the taste and tenderness! My daughter ate the butter and cheese spaghetti and the light flavor really brought out the freshness of the pasta. I had the Ravioli Trio (2 large raviolis each of meat, cheese and mushroom) baked with a meat sauce - DELISH! I am drooling right now thinking of it! My wife, who was set to drive the next leg and didn't want to face a carbo-crash had their turkey burger and she said it was perfectly cooked and had a lot of flavor. Go there and you won't go wrong! Also, don't be afraid of taking the back roads and bypass the expressways - see America, not just the ribbons of asphalt!

Place is decent place to eat if you have no other options in Italian food. Our waitress was a little slow keeping out glasses filled. Ordered eggplant parmigiana and it was okay. Sauce tasted somewhat watery and fettucini was more al dente than what I prefer. Wife ordered mediterranean pasta and feta cheese was supposed to be in the dish, but was not. Their soups, chicken noodle and ministrone are both homemaded (one of the good parts of the restaurant)! Nice quiet restaurant for the most part, just wish the food was actually more italian tasting than what it is.

Menu offers a lot of choices thus was hard to decide since this was our first visit. Been trying to watch my weight so got the seafood trio which was outstanding. Wife got the Bruschetta fettuccine and was also awesome. Salad bar, that came with the meal, was also good with a lot of choices. You know how tell yourself you are going to only have a small salad to save room for your meal, and next thing you know your salad plate is full. Service was good but generally slow.

Really good service but the food is not always great. I recommend the sunday buffet, they have wonderful fried chicken and a good size salad bar. Plenty of seating area so it's good for big crowds. Sometimes the food during the week is flavorless and the bread sticks are rock hard and cold. But I would most defiantly try this place on a Sunday at lunch time.

Fine dining restaurant.....steaks, seafood, many pasta dishes, salads, lunch buffet and Sunday brunch buffet....great prices for a very nice setting...Italian piped in music....good wait staff...fancy desserts. They serve a full array of alcoholic drinks. We go there quite often and love all of their foods...daily specials...elegant setting on the lake.

I have been here a few times several years ago when visiting family across the state line just over in Clinton, IN and returned yesterday to celebrate my dad's 54th Birthday. Considering that I work in restaurants, I pick up on everything, everywhere, always; and although the place isn't perfect, it's solid... given especially that its kind of in the middle of, well, nowhere. My family are regulars and very lovable people but have never worked in a restaurant before and do the whole "Give me the check!" "No, give me the check!" "You better give the check to me..." from the second they walk in the door, so I don't know how the waitstaff reacts when they see us coming. One thing that should be noted is that we are an hour ahead so we arrived at kind of an awkward time on a Sunday evening with no reservation when they were technically open between their Brunch service and dinner, but maybe shouldn't have been. They seemed to be in transition and not fully prepared for guests yet. The service was a bit slow, but understandably so. Slow, but not poor by any means. They were gracious in letting us sit in a small private area at an 8 top table for only 5 of us, which was very appreciated and added a lot to the experience. Granted there was absolutely no one in the restaurant from the time we arrived and until very shortly before we left at a little after 5 pm IL time, which seems totally reasonable in theory, but in November it was already pitch black dark by the time we departed. As far as ambiance, well, I mean, there are lots of plastic grapes. But whatever, its kitschy. Billy Joel meets rural Illinois. Our server was a little slow getting drinks but he was probably preoccupied with back of house tasks as well during this time. I was extremely impressed with the wine list. I wasn't expecting much more than a House Chianti but they had an extremely well priced, wide selection of Italian wine. My boyfriend and I shared a delicious bottle of Valopolicella for only $17 that was more than reasonable. I saw at least one bottle for $12 and I think they were asking $68 for their best reserve. I would return for the wine selection alone. They also had an albeit modest looking full bar as well. The meal started with some pretty tasty complimentary breadsticks with olive oil and parmesan, a nice touch. Because we were having a very early dinner, we eschewed appetizers but they had a decent selection of Italian standards like bruschetta or calamari. Our meals also came with an option of a house salad, soup, or a trip to the salad bar. I originally opted for a cup of Minestrone but they were out at the moment so I chose the salad bar which was very well stocked and fresh but could use some labels. I noticed that the house salad which my grandma and Aunt opted for pretty much could be made from all salad bar ingredients but there were much more options available including a bruschetta with small shrimp. There was also a list of other salad options you could choose for an additional price. I would have liked to see a caprese option listed but it's hard to really get a good caprese when tomatoes are out of season so I can't really fault them. As far as my entree goes, well, this is where the experience trailed off a bit. I ordered the Shrimp Diavolo - described as jumbo shrimp and pasta in a light garlic butter sauce tossed with basil. The shrimp were large, flavorful, and well cooked; but the sauce was just pure butter with a few garlic cloves and a light dusting of basil chiffonade that added basically nothing to the overall flavor profile - disappointing. If I would have known I was ordering a full on butter bomb I would have ordered something with alfredo sauce instead. Some fresh shaved parmesan might have helped save the dish but none was offered to me beyond the grated parm served with the breadsticks which is not really the same. Some crack pepper on the table would have been nice also. I had some major food envy though looking around the table. My dad had a perfect medium rare steak for his birthday dinner, my grandma had ribs (an odd choice for an Italian joint but tasty looking regardless) and some delicious looking fried "stuffed" shrimp, and my aunt had the mixed grill, although the accompanying veggies that looked like something off an elementary school lunch room tray. My boyfriend's Veal Parm was a bit chewy but the sauce was spot on in texture and flavor. A lot of Italian joints in the area go overly sweet, and though this sauce had sweetness it wasn't like candy on your pasta. I think the Chicken Parm would have probably been just about perfect. One of the issues this place has is that the menu is so large its impossible to execute every dish perfectly, which is something that could be easily fixed. They just need to trim the fat a bit, so to speak. The meal ended with a slice of tiramisu and a candle for my dad which was another very nice compliment to an overall nice experience.

The restaurant is needing a cleaner and fresh look. The food was ok but nothing great. The tomato sauce was flavorful, only very scarce on the chicken Parmesan. The herbs in the bottle of olive oil were gross and had not been changed forever. Our waitress had hair hanging in her face and flying all over. We were not offered a wine list so I ordered house wine and was not impressed, and they were out of two beers. Overall, not impressed in this tired, old eatery.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
