We found Shaker's on Yelp when looking for somewhere to have lunch. We sat at the bar although they do have regular tables as well. They were really busy so the service was good but slow. The open kitchen at the back of the bar area was real small and couldn't turnover orders fast enough. The menu was typical bar food, nachos, burgers, wings, etc. Food wasn't bad. During the day, the place seemed pretty kid friendly. They have live entertainment throughout the week. There are slots machines and free wi-fi.

As a bar.. This place is great. Inexpensive beer, live shows etc. The food is good at best-but the bar is the attraction. I love their Thursday night Karaoke

Played pool. Great pours for drinks. Best of all was the band. How do you bring that kind of talent to Ottawa.? We had a great time and walking distance to the Hampton Inn. The band was TYNAN. Amazing brass and vocals. Wish they were in So. Cal so we could hear them more.

Whenever we finish a day of hiking at either Matthiessen State Park or Starved Rock, we always come here for drinks and something to eat. This bar has a little bit of everything, and is kid friendly. From t.v.'s to gaming machines, a jukebox to the sand volleyball outside, pool tables and even a lotto ticket machine, this is your standard bar (and a little more). One particular Sunday, we chose to sit outside and bask in the sunshine. M ordered a Bloody Mary and the Southwestern burger; I just went with a beer and a Buffalo Chicken Hoagie. It wasn't particularly busy, but the service was slow. Seeing as how we weren't in a hurry, it wasn't a deal breaker but a bit frustrating. Everything from the drinks to our food took longer to arrive than on previous visits. Finally we received our food and immediately dug in. M's burger was cooked to perfection; I even managed to get a bite and I was slightly jealous that I didn't go the burger route. However, the Buffalo Chicken Hoagie was the perfect choice that day. The chicken was moist, tender, and drenched in buffalo sauce. The lettuce and onion application were spot on; just the perfect amount of each to compliment the sandwich. The fries were thick-cut, piping hot, and had just the right amount of salt. They have beer flights and over twenty draft beers on tap. They are constantly rotating their draft beer menu, which is appreciated for those looking to try something new. Their entertainment list is quite extensive and they don't have cover charges, which is pretty cool. Unfortunately I don't think I'll ever be out here on a weekend to enjoy any bands or anything, but it would be something I'd like to experience once. The waitresses are very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is enjoyable. If I lived in the area, I would be here all the time.

We stopped in for lunch because we had restaurant.com voucher. Well, first of all it's a total sports bar. Food is definitely an after thought. The ultimate nachos were $7.50 and was nothing more than some chips from a bag with chili and cheese poured over it. Oh, btw, it was served in a small plastic basket with wax paper. We were also given plastic dorks and knives and small paper plates. The burgers we ordered were also delivers in the same plastic baskets with chips. We had to order fries separately. Or sodas were also warm bottles with ice in a cup. No refills. The burgers were very dry and overcooked. Not too appetizing. The fries were average. The real issues were service. Or waitress is pregnant and when at the table was very good. She only came over to drop things off. We even had to bring the check up to the bar ourselves. It kind of seemed like they didn't care or even want us there. Like I said, it's geared more towards alcohol drinkers not the food at all. The nice thing is when we were leaving, we played some video poker and won some money which is dispensed in cash from an ATM style machine. I don't think I'll return to this place. Didn't feel welcome and the food wasn't worth my time, let alone money.

Best burgers in the West! Waaaay West! I tried to stop about 1/2 hour prior, but Yelp told me to keep driving. So I was directed to this place that I have driven by several times without ever noticing. I accidentally parked in the employee parking spot in the front, not noticing the sign. Then I realized they were all for employees? The place was a typical sports bar, with slot/poker machines. I sat at the bar and got a drink right away. The menu's were scattered about and I chose the mushroom swiss burger. I was asked if I wanted it with potato salad. I agreed and then waited for about 15 minutes. The kitchen was open to the rest of the bar which seemed odd to me. All the food was stored in plastic bins that you would get at Home Depot. When I finally got my burger, I realized what took so long. It was thick and heavy with cheese and mushrooms dripping out of the sides. The fries that I didn't order and got charged extra for were just alright. The meat was the star attraction here! Screw 5 Guys, one at a time. Because for $6.50 this burger Rocks! The only annoyance here was the frickin bells going off every 5 inutes from the gambling machines in the background. That said! You can't beat Shakers meat!

Yes, this is a Sports Bar but as long as you come in expecting that you will enjoy yourself. The service is good and attentive, the food is what you would expect and the beer selection is great. If you want to come and enjoy some decently priced food, good beer, and friendly staff then this is the place. We are here from Saint Louis and were staying in the hotel across the street and so our expectations were low...but we were pleasantly surprised. Defiantly somewhere to come and have a few beers.

I went here for lunch and was not disappointed. I ordered mozzarella sticks and a mushroom Swiss burger. The sticks were good and the burger was a nice thick burger with plenty of mushrooms and was oozing with Swiss cheese.

Somewhat lacking in atmosphere, but a very friendly staff and what is easily the best draft beer selection in LaSalle County, make this place a worthwhile stop. Standard pub fare is quickly served and plentiful. Weekends are usually host to live music.

My brother and I were in spring valley and looking for a place in the area that was airing the UFC fights last summer. The Buffalo Wild Wings in the area was not airing the fights so I had heard the advertisement on the radio for Shakers Lounge airing the fights and we made the trip. Was more than worth it! Good prices and they even have cider beer on tap. Also my brother ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and was great. Fun atmosphere for the fights and will definitely be back when I am working in the area again and need to catch the fights.

In town on business, stopped by to watch a game, and have a drink...RUDE, RUDE and RUDE...the owner mocked me asking for Vinegar for my fish and chips...he was RUDE as well as his Day time server when I asked what the special was, she stated "Its on the board"...WOW..I was disappointed,NEVER, ever should the OWNER literally MOCK me for my condiment choice if he welcomes travelers...obviously he does not, and thats ok with me!! ....He replied with "your not from around here...we don't eat that around here", His personality was shameful. I will NOT be returning... I did find Hanks on the Hill to be warm, welcoming and they had Vinegar...IT WAS nice, servers smiled and owner never mocked my choice of condiment!!!!~ GO TO HANKS!!

I was expecting more of a restaurant than a sports bar, but the food is quite good. I got the patty melt burger with cheese fries on top and it was good. This seems like a good place to hang out in the summer with a nice outdoor area and volleyball court.

We stopped at Shakers for lunch during our shopping trip in Ottawa. It is a family friendly bar and grill. There is a stage for bands. We hear they gave some good bands on the weekends. They have a few slot machines. We sat at the bar. The bartenders were very busy and probably could have used a little help. We had the nachos supreme, wings and a cheeseburger. The nachos and wings were good. The burger was very rare. No opportunity to have it cooked more because the bartenders were too busy. Also ordered it with fries and coleslaw. Fries were never brought. They seem to do a consistently high volume of food orders. The kitchen was very small and does not meet the needs of this busy restaurant. Overall, it was a good experience. Nice beer selection. Would return if in ottawa again or maybe for a band on a weekend.

First, it's a bar. A sports bar. What do you want/get from bars? I went to watch a basketball game... I don't drink alcohol. I asked if it was ok and they were incredibly kind and gracious to me. The place was not nuts or overly loud. The food was very good bar food. After the game they had live entertainment. And I was stunned at how good they were (talented and musically capable). What a pleasant surprise! So yea, I'd recommend it. If you saw any bad reviews, the reviewer probably did not realize they were in a BAR! Ha! Oh yea, and after a two hour game, I had a crush on three different waitresses (so kind and warm was their service.)

In a town already overrun with bars, Shakers really stands out from the rest. They have a fine selection of draft beer, their prices on other drinks are reasonable, and they never charge cover for their live entertainment on the weekends. The food is good as well; I especially like the items available on the appetizer menu. If you live in Ottawa or are just visiting, this is your go-to place...

Went for dinner and it looks like it would be a good place to party at night and the food is really good! My burger was handmade, no frozen patties. Pool tables, video games, patio and volleyball pits. I saw 2 bars and don't know if they had another outside. No complaints from me

Most Friday and Saturday nights there is a live band and there is no cover charge! I have heard they have karaoke but I am not sure what night. They have a dance area, a few pool tables, dart boards and other games. There is a good amount of tables but they do fill up quickly. I have eaten here a couple of times and the food is pretty good. There is a volleyball area but I have never ventured out there to see it, but here it is nice. The staff is always friendly.

Amazing bar burgers. Cheap daily specials. Look for a great time during Volleyball season on Sunday and cheer for your favorite team. Usually you can rock out on Sat to a live band with no cover charge. Pros: Hot place to be in Ottawa. Volleyball net to play with your pals. Many dart boards and few pool tables. New video games. Great drink specials! Cons: If the party isn't here then it's on to Max or home.

This is really just an average and regular bar. There is a live band, although they apparently play before prime dinner time because when I got there at 6:30ish they were on their last song. The bar has a good selection of beer, but the food selection is a little wanting. The cooking area is open and viewable, which I liked, but the food is limited to fries, burgers, and other simple foods that can be made on a griddle. Also, my fajita was impossible to eat without silverware, which was most bothering because it was served in a basket with a paper lining that completely fell apart when I cut into the fajita. Worst of all, there was a low frequency vibration that got a bit annoying. I suspect it was from the ventilation system, but my bar stool vibrated the entire time I was there, which got pretty old. I would have to say that this this place is pretty decent, and I would probably go back, but I certainly would not go out of my way to dine here again.

I had a BLT that was loaded with bacon. I also saw the Tomato stuffed with chicken salad that looked Devine as well. The atmosphere is that of a sports bar and the TVS were very loud. So much so we had to ask that they be turned down (which was dine immediately). After that it was much more pleasant but still at a level that was louder than most restaurants. Other than that, everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks.

This bar is kid friendly booster seats and video games to keep the kiddies occupied many family's come in for dinner and the staff is very good about keeping the T.v.'s and jukebox turned down at this time to maintain a friendly environment for dinner crowd. Fast service quality food and drinks they also have 18 beers on tap, two pool tables and two dart boards with a small area set aside for a dance floor. My two favorite items on the menu are the Pork tenderloin and the Chicken fajita wrap, I also ask for the top shelf long island, (not the premixed mixer) one of the best long islands I have ever had.

Yesterday was my first time to shakers. The bar tenders were nice, and the draft beer selection was the most I've seen out here. I went since this is the only place I've heard that does karaoke in this area. There were only three of us doing karaoke, as it was SUPER dead, which is fine... but the karaoke dude didn't have any books of what selection he has. Ive just never been to a place that doesn't. He was a little tipsy and got rude when I asked if he could look up what songs he had from a particular artist. He told me he "doesn't do that for people... if he does it for me then everyone will want to do that." Did I mention there were only three people doing karaoke in the entire bar? So... I would love to say I'll never go back... but I have yet to find another spot around here that does karaoke. Usually karaoke DJ's that I've been too are super friendly, helping you find songs or whatever, especially if the place is slow.

Sometimes when you travel entering a new establishment can be daunting as to whether or not it's going to satisfy your need or simply be another disappointing adventure. Shakers definitely falls into the first category particularly if your ken is great midwestern bar food. They patty they're own burgers and serve fresh cut french fries upon request. Their only detriment is missing a traditional lager with which to make quality black & tans and snake bites, however the Oberon's makes do in a pinch. The bar staff is friendly and proficient which helps to make their sprawling area work. I only wish I could have been here during volleyball!
