We've been coming here for several years and it's never disappointing. I think it's the best food I've ever tasted. The pasta del la sol is excellent. Tonight we had the spinach, crab & artichoke dip...awesome and they had chicken Marsala was to die for. All and all we absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. The ambiance is also very nice. It feels like an upscale restaurant in a corner bar or neighborhood drinking establishment without the upscale prices. Because it's tapas try several apps and dishes and split with your party. You can't order bad, everything is excellent. You can't go wrong. Truly the best place to eat not only in Ottawa but in Chicagoland.

Cute small restaurant/small in Ottawa Illinois. My friend and I are from Chicago and we love restaurants with great food. I mean who doesn't right? But this place was exceptional with their bloody Mary's and their toasted ravioli! We ordered their hamburger as well but could have went through with out it. Wasn't anything special but wasn't bad. They have a Patio which was great because we were freezing inside. Wasn't greeted by the bartender until after 10 minutes of sitting and there were about 4 girls working. But the rest of our experience with service after that was great. This place gets a 4 store from us because of the first touch of service and because the hamburger wasn't all that great. Oh the sweet potatoes were awesome but was not a fan of the garlic and rosemary seasonings. Sweet potatoes have an awesome flavor with out all the creativity. All in all good experience!

We are in town for a couple of days and decided to stop by here on our first night. First thing that caught my eye was the list of uniquely named mixed drinks they had. I tried Dexter (Bloody Mary)..very clever! The waitress we had was sweet as ever. They have fruit infused liquor like pineapple or orange infused vodka, which you see at the bar. Interesting concept. Seems this place is big on Tapas and their mixed drinks. Appetizers were southwestern egg rolls..For dinner I had the "big burger" instead of the 3 mini sliders and my fiancé had the chicken breast (pasta & chicken). My burger was cooked medium..very flavorful and the Spanish cheese was different. Very mild flavor but fit well for the burger. Overall, I love the charm of this small corner bar/cafe. Definitely a must visit if you visit Ottawa.

We are not from Ottawa but came down earlier in the summer to try out some restaurants as a venue for our son's rehearsal dinner as his wedding was going to be held at Starved Rock. We were so pleased with our decision! We could not have picked a better location. Rich and staff did a wonderful job with the set up and service for 38 people. The food was absolutely delicious! Our pre-selected entree choices were Pasta Del Sol, Chicken Picatta and Salmon with Avocado (my personal favorite). Everything went so smoothly, even with me calling with a few last minute additions. It was a great start to a perfect weekend! We will definitely return!

Very pleased with my weekend stop at Corner 230! A wedding brought us to the area and we were looking for a good place for lunch (Yelp wins again). This corner bar boasts a nice food menu, extensive cocktail list, and good beer options, including seasonal specials. The food menu features a wide variety of options (very impressive for a bar!), including appetizer/tapas, sandwiches, wraps, and smaller lunch plates. I ordered a 1/2 salad and the Calamari (coated with the sweet & spicy Bang Bang sauce). My dining partner opted for a wrap (came with fries, which were fresh and crunchy - yum). Both options were tasty and service was extremely friendly and speedy. I love the casual vibe here, too - you could come in to relax but still enjoy a solid meal. Would definitely return if ever back in the area!

I love it when i travel to remote places and find an absolutely fantastic place to eat. This is one of those places. OMG the food is great. Totally coming back.

I absolutely love this place! My boyfriend and I were so pleasantly surprised at how perfect this place is. We ordered the Caprese Dip to start and it was so tasty we both couldn't stop eating it. The mozzarella was so fresh! I ordered the Pesto Pasta for dinner, and that was delicious! The chicken was juicy, the tomatoes were a great compliment to the pesto sauce. It's probably one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. My boyfriend ordered the chicken tacos for dinner, which he ate before I could even try a bite! He's picky about his tacos to, but he loved this. Also need to shout out our waitress, Lori, she really made our night! She was inviting, and very accommodating. 5/5 stars and next time I'm in town, I will definitely be stopping by! This place and our waitress really are gems!

Loved their guacamole with pita chips so much I cant remember what else I ate! Delicious. I'd go back for just that. Outdoor seating was comfortable and well shaded. Our only complaint? There was only one menu on our table and we weren't provided a drink menu until after we order our Cokes.

I really wanted to enjoy my dinner here more. Positives... Food was good and prices were reasonable. It was a perfect night to sit outside, but the tables were full. Sweet potato fries were as good as everyone said. I really enjoyed the pasta de la sol, and husband said his chicken tacos were tasty. He would have been happier with one more, but price was right. Negatives... We ate here on a Thursday night at 6p. The dining room was closed, so we ate next to the bar. The noise was pretty bad, clearly the regulars were in full force. We were unable to have a conversation, and toward the end of our meal, the drunks at the next table were so loud I just wanted to leave. I'd give it a try one more time, if I could get a table in the dining room or outside. I only had one drink off the menu, the "señorita"was unremarkable.

We were traveling and went into the store by accident, it's nice and warm restaurant, not big menu but enough to feed people. I think the restaurant it's very local, the food is like homemade style. If you are looking for fine diner then pass it, but if you want to relax and enjoy a simple but tasty meal with friends and talking, this place might be a good idea!

I love the "tapas" menu. We tried the spinach crab artichoke dip (IT WAS AH-MAZING). I had a white wine sangria, which was alright. My significant had the mini brisket sliders. They were crazy good with homemade bbq sauce!!!! I had chicken parm with rigatoni. Sauce was homemade and it was pretty fabulous! I highly reccomend. Their food is really unique for what you typically find around the area. Ps, the atmosphere was super laid-back and friendly. I loved it!!!! Only a few tables and bar seating. Outdoor seating is nice in the warmer months though.

We were in town for the night after a day of hiking around Starved Rock and were looking for a nice dinner. Random... Matthiessen State Park is definitely the way to go. We went after spending a few hours at Starved Rock and regretted spending our whole day at Matthiessen. Anyways... we're from Chicago and the first thing that is shocking and awesome about this place is the prices. Specialty cocktails were $6. For dinner we got 2 appetizers, 2 main dishes and a drink and it was $45. We're so used to that costing about $100 in Chicago that the prices alone deserved 4 stars. Back to what really matters, the food and drink. The drinks are pretty good, nothing special, but probably the best cocktail list you're going to see in a 50 mile radius. They had about 12 cocktails, but unfortunately just one containing whiskey. Also, very little whiskey, rye selection. Would have loved to see some Midwest distillery options here. So the food... we got the crab, spinach and artichoke dip. Damn good, would get it again. We got the bang bang ceviche, also really damn good and we'd get that again. For the main dishes, chicken tacos & chicken picatta. We both loved our dishes... I will say, lots of chicken dishes, very little beef choices. Overall, a great spot in Ottawa that we'd return to. Also, great service!

Excellent meal during our Starved Rock trip! Exceeded expectations on all levels. We ordered the pear & roquefort salad, grilled calamari salad, and the scallops. Everything was devoured and my husband and I fought over the last of the lemon butter sauce that the scallops came in! Delicious!

We were passing through on i80 and started looking for places on yelp. The menu looked interesting and the reviews looked good. We were pleasantly surprised by the choices on the menu and the taste of everything. We had : garlic Spanish hummus, sweet potato fries, chicken skewers and corner wings with sweet and spicy sauce. It was finished off with a turtle brownie a la mode. Everything was outstanding! The service was just as good.

We just got up and left this place because we sat for 15 minutes, had several servers walk past and no one even acknowledged we were there. We were not offered water or were not told they would be back in a minute. I am very disappointed and will not be returning.

This is an alright place for lunch. Few friends and i came here for lunch after hiking at Starved Rock. We were starving and this was one of the few places that had many stars on Yelp. It was a Saturday afternoon and it was rather quiet..it's a bar also. Service was decent. Staff was nice. I ordered the buffalo chicken salad which was okay. Didn't need much of the salad dressing since the buffalo sauce was all over the salad. Not many chicken pieces..wish there was avocado and other yummy stuff added to this salad though. Just an average salad for $8.75. This could be more like $7 or less. My husband ordered their chipotle corn chowder soup which was okay. Tastes pretty good. He also had the seafood bowtie pasta which I thought was decent. He said it was a bit too saucy and salty for his liking. Our friend ordered their chipotle chicken wrap..she didn't have much chicken in her wrap. The fries were really good though. My other friend ordered a turkey sandwich which was just okay. Overall, food decent and plenty of room to eat for a Saturday afternoon.

This place was great, however it is under construction (they must be adding on) but don't let that deter you! Because the food is great and the service in engaging. We came around 4 and I think we were still on the lunch menu. Michelle was our waitress and she makes a mean Margarita. We ordered the chorizo dip with homemade pitas, the pesto chicken skewers and the Spanish grilled chicken sandwich. It was all amazing, and the french fries are addictive. It's a great spot if you're in Ottawa.

Location is nice, waitress friendly, toasted ravioli was ok... But my wrap was served with a long black hair... And when they apologized.... And asked if I wanted something else like an appetizer... She made it sound like it was complimentary. But charged me anyway. Not a place you will find me at in the future....

Stopped in on a business trip. Excellent, attentive, friendly service from Katie. Tried the whitefish entree and loved it. The vegetables were as flavorful as the fish and helped me justify the enormous piece of red velvet cake for dessert. Will certainly come back next time I am town.

I thought I would never get to heaven but last night I was given wings. At 230 I was given a drink that even God would have kicked out stained glass windows at Notre Dame for. Casanova didn't have enough to equal this drinks beauty . I found my soul and it is no longer thirsty. Hooray for humanity. Try the Big Mike. The bartender Carrie is amazing!! Funny and friendly

Decent food place in Ottawa. The servers were friendly, prompt and accommodating. I had to return my first portobello mushroom burger because it was saturated in balsamic vinegar and couldn't taste anything but. Very eager to make it right for the customer. Everyone was extremely friendly and smiling. 3 stars because the fish taco was from frozen and not fresh. More fried dough than fish. Waaaay better tacos at the CHEESE SHOP. Same with the regular fries; from frozen and not fresh. The portobello was pretty good the 2nd time around. And the sweet potato fries tasted fresh. $18 and change for my 2 year old daughter and I to eat lunch here. No drinks ordered.

I had the sliced beef, which was excellent! Beef was cooked perfect, gravy had the right bite and my beer was cold. Very nice quaint atmosphere to sit and enjoy a nice meal.

The place was empty when I arrived which usually is a red flag. However it was 11:00 and they just opened. The staff is very kind and entertaining. The food was good. I had the Chicken Pesto Skewers, Fries and Lintel Soup. All very good. The texture of the chicken lead me to believe it was reheated? They were good but would prefer something fresh made! That is why they got a 4 and not a 5. Otherwise great place, nice atmosphere, friendly staff! Will go back!

Best sweet potato fries I've ever had. Loaded with garlic and herbs, sweet sweet perfection. Also had the Reuben while sitting on the not too crowded patio. Service with a smile and on point prices, cheap even for this city girl. They certainly have my stamp of approval.

This place has figured out the trick to frying vegetables. Ordered the portabella fries and they are hands down the best fried mushroom I have ever had. Most times you eat a fried mushroom all of the breading tears away from it with the first bite and you're left with slimy hot disappointment. Not so here. Its incredible. Same with the fried pickles. (the sauce with the fried pickles was spot on) For dinner We had the scallops and the pear/ham sandwich. all were very satisfying and beyond reasonably priced. In fact the prices were so low, i was worried what would actually show up. We were very pleased with our food. Service was friendly, although the waitress did need to be prompted to clear our plates and brought us the check before asking if we wanted anything else, which would normally be negligible but I wanted some coffee. I would definitely recommend going here. We stopped in on a road trip and picked it based off of the high yelp scores. it was about 2 miles away from I-80 and totally worth the detour to get to versus eating at some chain right off the highway. I am sad we will not be going back, and the only reason for that is we don't live anywhere near Ottowa.

Drinks were great and strong. Priced around $6 on up for fancy mixed drinks. We wanted to stay and eat there, but it was too loud inside. The wait for eating outside was long, so we left after our drinks. The waitress apologized for the noise. She was nice. I really wanted to try the food, but I was screaming my conversations to my friends on either side of me and that's just ridiculous for a restaurant.

Had a really good experience celebrating our anniversary there tonight. The staff was very nice - my husband had went in and reserved a table for us and gave them flowers and my favorite candy to put on the table for when we came in. When he arrived with me I was very surprised - the staff was very nice and they all came by at some point and wished us a happy anniversary. We both ordered drinks and they were very tasty. I had the "Miranda" and it was REALLY good! The drinks were reasonably priced too. We ordered the Irish Hamburger Nachos, Toasted Ravioli, and Mini Brisket sliders with sweet potato fries. The ravioli were soooooo good (the marinara sauce was super tasty too) and the nachos were really tasty too. You actually got a good portion for it being a tapas restaurant and it was priced well. We didn't care much for the brisket sliders or the sweet potato fries though. The service was decent and the ambiance was nice too. Would be a good place to go in the summer since they have outdoor seating too. They do accept credit cards.

Awesome place in a nice small town. Great service, great food. The sweet potato fries are amazingly unique! Definitely stop by if you are hungry and around the area.

This is a tiny place in Ottawa on the corner of Madison st. 230 Madison st. To be precise...thus the name of corner 230. My husband and I went here for my birthday dinner based on the Yelp reviews and I had to say you were all spot on !! For starters we shared calamari and pickle chips...The calamari were both the rings and the little squidlets. We got ours bang bang style...a zingy cheeseish sauce covered a cone of deliciousness. The picked chips were a bit heavy on the reading..but the Spanish sick sauce that accompanies them made up for it plenty !! Now on to dinner...may I recommend, if you like seafood, the seafood pasta. It was amazingly good..with well cooked pieces of all sorts of seafood yummies and pasta..and that wine sauce..OMG. My husband, who is a big old steak guy, had the stuffed chicken breast..I didn't hear a word from him as he devoured his food..other than a big satisfied sigh and and an ummmm at the end. For all this and eight drinks..wine and beer (hey it was my birthday..don't judge) ;) it was 85.00. The waitress was wonderful and attentive..the place is very small, so if going in a weekend I would recommend a reservation...also a bit too nice for my kids...leave them at home and enjoy yourself. All in all..we will be back to try more yummy tapas...calamari will be a repeat...and have some drinks. They also have a good looking lunch menu.
(5)Michelle R.
Try their pasta dishes. They're amazing. I got the Pasta De La Sol (penne pasta with mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, basil, and a delicious creamy garlic sauce - so good!!). My husband got the Bowtie Pasta dish (which had penne pasta with sausage, a few other ingredients I can't remember, and a creamy marinara sauce). His was also very good. Will definitely be coming here every time we are in the area, our dishes were that good. And the portions were a good size, as I could barely finish mine.

Corner 230 is trying but doesn't hit the mark. C230 has some of the best new and hippest food in town but their bartenders couldn't make a drink to save their life. For a cocktail bar restaurant this has always had me leaving C230 disappointed. I've been to C230 a handful of times and every time I go, the drinks are over sweetened or disproportionately liquored. Want to ask them to make a cocktail off the menu? Don't even bother, these bartenders wouldn't even know how to make Moscow Mule. The old fashion I ordered, terrible. The Vince Vaughn cocktail on their menu, forgettable. The only drink I've had here that was decent was one that they served during the holiday's which was called the Snowflake. Also, No Beers On Tap. I'm sorry, come again? Yep, not only are their cocktails subpar, but they don't have tap beer to make up for it. Enjoy the $5 bottled beer, but hey at least you're in C230. I thought maybe this was only happening to me but then I've noticed over time that the people I go with only order simple mixed cocktails (whiskey coke, vodka spirit, rum & coke, gin and tonic) because those drinks are much harder to mess up. True story: I was at a wedding one weekend and people at the wedding brought up that we might go to C230 before the reception - it set 4 people off into a tirade rant about how bad the drinks are. Similarly, I was at a outing in Ottawa, where a friend made me a cocktail and said, "it's not Chicago good, but at least it's better than C230." Most people got the joke instantly. When it's a regular understood joke to say you're not as bad as a bartender at C230, then it might be time to change things. On a brighter note, their food is very good. Salads are very gourmet. The table service is very inconsistent because the waitstaff is overworked. You can tell the servers want to be more attentive but they can't be, they're spread too thin. I've never received good full service here. At my most recent visit we were not given waters upon being seated (we seated ourselves), plus we were never given table napkins or silver ware. Besides the napkin used as a coaster for my cocktail, I had to approach the bar and get the napkins for our table. Adding to the inconsistent service attention, we waited a long time to get our check once asked and then waited a longer amount of time for it to be returned to our table after paying. I don't blame the wait staff at all for the service. I blame the owner or the manager of C230. They are clearly in need more waitstaff, new bartenders and probably a more efficient restaurant management style to make the service improve considerably. When it comes to C230, the best approach to take may be a twist on their own motto: Eat. Laugh about the drink your bartender tried to make. Repeat.

This place is fantastic. Came to Ottawa for work, and this place was recommended for lunch. I had the Grilled Spanish Chicken Sandwich, and I highly recommend it. Free WiFi.

Had the sangria -yum! My husband had the sangria w ginger beer and oj - super yum! The sweet potato fries were wonderful. My husband's chicken was great and I had the whitefish. Great sauce on it and yummy veggies. Took our 2 yo son and he loved the fries and my fish! Will be back!
