Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

In the small town if Oregon, IL Alfono's is a gem of a restaurant! Great pizza and pasta and a very family friendly atmosphere. Don't miss eating here is you're in the area.

Came here for a rehearsal dinner for my friend's wedding this past weekend. The staff wasn't very interactive, but I suppose that could be a positive and a negative since the food was already preordered before all of us got there. They served us pizza, mustachole, and Fedachinie Alfredo. Sorry for the spelling. The food was what I expected it to be.. Okay. The building is kind of small, yet accommodating. I would come back. I think I may just be spoiled by all of the Italian restaurants in Chicago, so this place gets an okay rating.

Good food in a small town. My favorite menu items include toasted ravioli, eggplant Parmesan, and portabella mushroom ravioli. Their pizza isn't bad either.

After reading the reviews stopped and picked up med thin crust sausage. Was great! Sauce slightly sweeter than I prefer but great sausage, crust, cheese! Even good cold.

Went there with the future family and thought the food was great, 2nd time I went I actually looked at the menu and saw their prices, WOW! A great place to get good food at a very reasonable price. I'm a fan! Service is a little slow to check in with you but get their attention and they're hoping. Only ate pizza before this place :o)

My rehearsal dinner was held here this past weekend and it could not have been better! We had two pastas and I heard rave after rave about them as our guests were leaving. My in-laws are from another town and were so impressed by the restaurant, the friendly staff, and the great prices. Very very highly recommended!!!

I was visiting the nearby Rochelle Railroad Park and was looking for some food to try in the area. I found Alfano's on Yelp and decided this was the place to try. We ordered the Beer Nuggets to start out. There were very good. They had great flavor and were light and airy. The dipping sauce was also very good. It had a good tomato flavor. We then had the pizza for the main meal. We decided to order the football size. Wow! this thing is big. There was enough pizza for the five of us plus leftovers. I thought the pizza was very good. There was a lot to the pizza. We chose the thing crust which was a little thicker than the usual thin crust in Chicago. The crust was perfectly cooked. The sauce had a nice tangy sweet flavor and just the right amount of spices. The sausage was tasted really good. The only thing I wish is that the pizza had a little more sausage. Though, there was a good amount of cheese. The people were nice, but we did have to wait longer than usual for the server to take our order. It wasn't busy when we arrived so I thought this was unusual. As we finished dinner it really started to get busy and many of the locals were showing up. I would probably give the place another try if I was back in the area.

Its seems like the quality of the food has really gone down hill years ago it was much better. I had to wait 1 1/2 hours to get a pizza I could of just bought frozen from Walmart. Not to mention its kinda pricy Maybe I just came on A bad day.....

This place is fantastic! I moved to this quaint little town early November and have ordered from Alfano's 4 times (moving is the pits and who has the energy to cook a meal?) The food is delivered promptly (usually within 30 min!) and is hot...not to mention absolutely scrumptious. I have had the spaghetti and lasagna, both delicious. The house dressing is a sicilian and is a marvelous blend. Their italian sausage and meat balls are worth the small extra price. Give them a try...you won't be disappointed.

Mmmmm.....Alfano's. Best pizza around. Below average beer selection. Oh, get the beer nuggets as an appetizer. You won't be disappointed. Did I mention that the pizza is great?

My family and I stay at White Pines Park every year around Chirstmas. We stop at Alfano's every time we're there. They haven't disappointed yet!

Good pizza and good price. I was pleasantly surprised and definitely would come back here if in the area.

The Alfano brothers have created a local empire and it would seem that their food reflects the success of their restaurants. They've established an authentic taste with their classic pizzas and have explored the lesser known realms of dishes like (my personal favorite) the spaghetti pizza. Alfano's is a delicious spot for pizza and pasta that is always a frequented stop for both locals and newcomers alike.

Pizza ... You have to get the pizza! It's not like any chain I know and has great crust, sauce and toppings. They also have a gluten free crust that it pretty good too, which is rare in a small town pizza restaurant. If you are in the Oregon area, should strongly consider stopping by.

This place by far has one of the best pizzas I have ever had. My absolute #1 favorite is Lino's pizza in Rockford. But, I think Alfano's cheese and sausage pizza tastes really close to Lino's and they are a little bit cheaper too. This place is absolutely amazing and is a real treasure to Oregon, IL. Definitely, worth the trip to Oregon if you are staying elsewhere. Great town too!

I'm not a huge pizza fan so I won't say anything about it. However, I can say their pasta is yummy. It's like every other Italian restaurants pasta though. The insides kinda outdated.

Absolutely the last meal I want to have before I die! I grew up on Alfano's and now for the rest of my life, everything else will be unfairly judged against them. It is the best pizza in the world and everyone I have ever introduced to it has agreed. More than once I have heard someone utter that they couldn't believe pizza could taste like this! Regular, Pan, Stuffed (my fave) there is no bad decision. And I'm not even going to get into the rest of the menu!!! Too much for one post. Don't go anywhere else if you have the choice. Say hi to Joe for me.

Another good dinner at Alfano's last night!

Had a large group passing through late at night and needed a break from the weather. We got a table for 15+. The food was amazing. The Pizza and other Italian entrees were hot and tasty. If I lived closer, I would go here once a week., its that good!

This place starts with the service and the sauce. The family atmosphere, where you're treated as family, makes the level of service top notch. The sauce is amazing. This isn't a crappy, watery Olive Garden sauce. This is robust sauce is made from scratch, and it shows. This is my favorite Italian restaurant in North Central Illinois.

Pretty good for a pizza restaurant. Don't be put off by looks of the pizza. All of the toppings are under the cheese, so it looks kind if bland when it arrives. But the cheese is the best part. I don't know if its seasonings in the cheese, or if its just a compilation of amazing cheeses, but its really good cheese.

Just had a great meal and great service at this place tonight... Definitely try the beef ravioli.

I've never had an issue with this place until now... the service could have been better yesterday. The thing is... our waitress wasn't the issue. She went out of her way to do a good job for us. My issue was the break down in organization and an inability to adapt to a busy situation. Went here yesterday for dinner. There must have been something going on nearby because this place was packed at about 6 P.M. on a Sunday. We walked in and asked how long it would be for pizza and were told 30 minutes, so we decided to stay. There were five of us and I could see a few open tables, but it still took almost 10 minutes to get seated and we were the only ones waiting. There were three waitresses running around between all the tables, so I understand them not being able to seat us promptly. What I do not get is why someone higher up the food chain did not recognize this and have someone from the back help out the front sooner (as we eventually saw later). We were finally seated and ordered... one order of spaghetti, one half and half order (lasagna and spaghetti), and one extra-large sausage pizza. In about 30 minutes we see all three items come up ready to be taken to the dinning room. Our waitress grabs the two pasta dishes and brings them to our table. She heads back for the pizza when an older waitress come up yells at her that the sausage and cheese pizza is hers! She grabs it and takes to a big table in the other dinning room. Our waitress tried to talk to the kitchen and clarify this to the other waitress that it went with our order, which was already half delivered, but the other waitress wouldn't have anything to do with that. Our waitress walked over and apologized, that there was some sort of mix up (but we all saw what happened along with everyone on our side of the dining room. Now, we're waiting another 20 - 25 minutes before we actually get "our" pizza, which by this time the others in our party have already eaten their pasta. If they had waited for us to all be able to eat together, they'd have been eating cold pasta. So we come to dine together and it just doesn't happen. It gets worse... When we do get a pizza from the kitchen, it is not exactly what we ordered. It was a large extra sausage pizza. If I had wanted that, I would have ordered it that way. The waitress isn't sure of what happened and gave us the line that we could hear the back kitchen tell her, "Tell them we made this smaller to quickly get it out to them." Which is ridiculous as I worked in pizza kitchens growing up... the cook time doesn't vary that greatly between a 14 inch and 16 inch pizza. And, we wanted regular sausage on our 16-inch pizza, not extra sausage on a 14-inch pizza. She says what she was told and apologizes for the mistake. I can tell you what actually happened... the large party in the other room got our pizza and we got what was supposed to be their pizza. So because someone forgot to make their pizza, we get the shaft instead. We could all remember the older waitress yelling into the back about a large extra sausage pizza prior to our food coming up. What I took from this experience is that the other waitress who yelled at our waitress was more concerned with her tip then making sure things were right. Towards the end of the meal for those of us who got pizza (as the others eating pasta were done long before that), our waitress said the incorrect pizza was no charge, which didn't make this whole fiasco feel any better. I would have rather received what we ACTUALLY ordered and been able to eat with our whole group at the same time. There needs to be a better system for this place when it is busy as we could constantly see confusion at the window with people not knowing what was for their tables.
