I live down the corner and LOVE this place! For less than 8.00 I can get a great reuben with soup in less than 10 minutes. Love the old school waitresses. Reminds me of those old restaurants I would go to as a kid. The owner (or some old man who is always there) asks how was the food, and is so sweet! My favorite go to place for lunch!

I love the Corner of Coziness so much. It is exactly what I want in a diner. Roomy booths, flowing coffee, solid breakfast choices, and fantastic people watching opportunities abound. And, oh, the wait staff--my favorite part. I meet my pops and stepmum here once a month on Saturday mornings. We almost always sit in the same booth where we have the same crazy-efficient, always friendly, tiny, lovely waitress. She recognizes us and says a cheerful hello but never bombards us with small talk when we are catching up and chatting. I nearly always get the same thing: eggs, amazing hashbrowns, and rye toast (unless I'm no-carbing it for the weekend so I can fit my butt back into my skirt come Monday morning). Dad gets a Greek salad with what he says is the perfect Greek dressing. Stepmum gets the eggs benedict and says it's quite delish. We all have coffee. We are happy as clams. Prices are outrageously reasonable for breakfast these days. The restaurant is bright and cheery. There are regulars that hang out and add to the atmosphere. And if you are entertained by the typical crabby cashier who is most likely the owner, she is there too for you, scowling and huffing, and throwing a pen in your direction so you can sign the receipt. I'm looking forward to my next visit, CC!

I ate here for the first time yesterday, so I had no knowledge of their previous setup or menu. The menu was typical for a diner. I loved that the coffee was flowing non-stop! However, my order was messed up. The waitress was really quick to fix it, but in doing that, I felt like my new order wasn't prepared very well. (It was an omelet that wasn't cooked as well, and I found a hair. Gross!) While the waitress was very pleasant and thorough, I'd call the food bland even for a diner. I would only return for coffee.

I love this place. Service is friendly, food is good, and it doesn't break the bank. Gives me that kind of Seinfeld feel (kinda).. definitely reminds me of an older diner though. Don't come here expecting a gourmet meal. But if you want a place to walk to, sit in a booth, and have a simple, no-hassle breakfast/lunch then this is the place for you!

Food was decent. Stay away from the Orange juice, definitely not freshly squeezed as it states. Your better off heading to Delias across the street if you don't mind waiting a bit.

Great new menu and new look. Staff is attentive and the food and presentation was amazing.

It was ok, could've been way better. Our server was great but the food was sub-par and incomplete, almost as if the kitchen is robotic and not reading the servers tickets, definitely not worth the 22, but again our server was a great guy. May skipped out on it but if I'm starving in the AM I'll drag myself in.

My husband and I came here for breakfast on July 4. They weren't too busy but maybe we were early..it was around 10am when we got there. This is a typical diner owned by a family. Nothing spectacular about the setting. They have a good amount of options on their menu which is pretty nice for breakfast. I had the popeye skillet which I thought was pretty good. They gave me 3 eggs on top which is more than normal. I enjoyed my skillet. My husband ordered their chicken rice soup and the hungryman special. He thought his food was okay, which is probably why I gave this place a 3 stars. His food came with a side of pancakes and toast..mine came with a side of toast as well. Lots of food. Price is average.. I would come back. Their credit card system is slower, so if you are in hurry pay with cash.

I grew up on this place. It was my favorite place as a kid and much of the staff os still there all these years later. The food there is good. Especially their cream of chicken soup with rice. The best. The menu can be overwhelming and has more stuff on it than you could possibly imagine. But I'd say stick to the breakfasts abd the sandwiches. That's what they do best and anything else they make could take too long. Sunday is a crazy day. So don't go unless it's early or you like waiting in line. Any other time this place is totally worth it.

Love the Farmer's skillet and the service. A place you'll be remembered the second time you come in and you'll want to come back to over and over again.

My husband and I go there weekly. We love the products and that everyone knows us and our order by now. Great place!

Horrible! After visiting the Cozy Corner for a great patty melt, I decided to try breakfast. The omelette was burned, and the toast was cold. The "chopped steak" was nothing more than old ground meat. Very bad service, and the booth was so small, I could hardly sit with my legs under the table. I will not be back.

I have never been less inclined to take a second bite of my meal. I would rather see suburban sprawl do its 'worst' and replace this real estate with a Baby Gap (or some other vapid enterprise) than eat here again.

Old style diner feel that I got today eating breakfast around 10 in the morning. I was surprised at how empty the place was but gradually got busier. The food was decent, nothing special. I got chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns for $8.75. The meal was worth the money.

  • Matt M.

The hungry man really gets the job done for an A+ on price-point, service, and freshness. Each piece of the two eggs, toast, two bacon, two sausage, two pancakes was freshly made, tasted home made, and was second to none. If they had 24 hour service they would single handedly shut down Denny's nearby. Not a ton of seating but the views of downtown oak park are great. Great location. Parking is a bit of a pain but its downtown oak park and thats the way it is.

I'm a fan again! I guess it's true what they say about absence making the heart grow fonder . . . Or, it might be letting time pass by so they can get their act together. Whatever it was, my last visit to Cozy Corner was great . The service was friendly and timely. I even tried something new and liked it.

A pretty good spot for getting something quick. Had a waffle that was light and airy and tasted just the same. Got scrambled eggs and hashbrowns that were actually tasty, although not out of the ordinary. Was very glad the server was okay with me moving mid-order, considering some guy in the neighbouring seating area hacked and coughed rather unpleasantly. I think I would find more enjoyment out of Cozy Corner Coffee Shop when I am incredibly hungry and my options are limited. Not bad for a brief snack or catching up with a friend or two, though.

Got the veal cutlet and really wish I didn't. The breading was wet and had zero seasoning. I removed some of the breading and pushed the veal with my fork and this gross liquid came out like I was pushing on a sponge. I think the veal probably was purchased frozen in a patty similar to salisbury steak and not pounded from a veal steak. The liquid? Maybe they breaded and deep-fried the thing while it was still frozen or partially frozen. It was gross but I muscled through it, with plenty of salt to add some little flavor, because I was staving. Won't be back here.

Walked in here after some apartment hunting in the area, excited to have a diner experience. The woman serving us was friendly to every other table around us, but was incredibly brisk with us when she came to take our drink order. She huffed away after one of us ordered a milkshake and, at that point, we'd had enough and decided to go across the street. Worse yet, it didn't even end there. She charged after us outside and had the audacity to call us rude for not telling her we didn't want the milkshake after all. I doubt I would ever go back here.

I love the fact the Cozy Corner has been in our neighborhood forever - and you can always get a seat there - but there's a reason for that...it's just not good...it's not good at all - however if you stick to the basics like scrambled eggs and toast - you'll be fine.

  • Bobby D.

A LOT better than that other place I went to. The service was pretty awkward at times, But still friendly. Like the soup came after my lunch. Which was a bit uncoordinated. And a rather big bowl, As opposed to a cup, Which is the norm in most restaurants when usually combined with the entree, As a multiple choice bonus. The Cozy Club wasn't bad at all. The cream of chicken soup was just OK, Nothing to brag about though. And the big PLUS, Is the plastic menu usually given at restaurant, A one piece though. Which has entrees for carry out, Which is VERY convienient.

I don't understand why this restaurant was practically empty at 2:00 p.m. today. I moved away from Oak Park 33 years ago and the last time I was back was 14 years ago and it is so sad to see how much has changed, and not for the better, but the Cozy Corner Cafe is still there! I used to work on the Mall back in the day (the late 1970s) and would often treat myself to a Patty Melt and fries from the Cozy Corner for lunch on Saturdays. I've never found a restaurant to make them as good as this place. The rye bread is always crispy grilled and buttery and the inside is perfect melty goodness. The fries are perfect too, crisp and yet perfectly tender and fried. Cozy Corner's patty melts were my favorite go to comfort food and today I was not dissapointed. For 6.95 I was served a piping hot bowl of chicken rice soup and a huge patty melt, fries and a pickle and it was just as delicious today as it was over thirty years ago. I can't touch a meal like this for under $13.00 in San Francisco, near where I now live. Skip the other burger joints and overpriced hyped bistros and go check this place out. The menu is HUGE and just like I remembered it. Finally, not only is the food really yummy, but the service is excellent too. I am talking old fashioned diner professionalism where your coffee cup is never allowed to be empty unless you are done, and your water glass is kept filled icy clean water.

Not the best place for a home cooked meal.

  • Rhonda G.

I've been here a few times and although their is always a minor mistake with my food I keep going back because the service is great. The waitresses are always friendly and quick and they seem to really know the guests which is hard to find these days. One of few places around here that offer turkey sausage so kudos for that. However, please show my turkey sausage the same love as their pork sausage friends...turkey sausage is best served hot m'kay?

  • Brent D.

My girlfriend and I love this place. It's the best Saturday or Sunday morning place to go in the area. The coffee never gets low, and the food is good, with large portions. The pricing is very reasonable. We always have the same waitress, and she's very friendly. She will joke with you a and make you feel welcome if they aren't busy. I recommend eating the Farmer's Skillet, that's our favorite! fyi, I've never been here for a meal other than breakfast.

Came here to meet a friend on a beautiful day. We walked in and asked the hostess if we could sit outside and she just huffed at yes, "Mfph...yes..." We sat outside for 15 minutes and no one ever came to say hello or take an order. We walked across the street to the other Cozy (Cosi) and received much more respectful service. Please don't have outdoor tables if you're not going to serve at them. We were looking forward to meeting here. A bum experience. We won't be back.

The Cozy Corner was ok. We went here this weekend for a quick breakfast. The prices were fair. There could have been more staff, but it was fine given the traffic. The coffee was good and hot for a cold day. They didn't have splenda though. They need to have a carafe of coffee at the table so you can fill your own. I had the crepes and they were not bad, but not fantastic. The restaurant was very cold, but to be fair, it was 7 degrees outside. I might go back.

Food nothing to write home about. Otherwise it's a quant diner that looks like its right out of Seinfeld.

Great breakfast menu, amazingly friendly and folksy staff make this spot the perfect choice.

A friendly neighborhood place where everyone knows your name! Sure, the food isn't the best around, but honestly, for us regulars, it does not matter because each time is an experience in itself! Of course you have to try this place out! I won't give the full 5 stars because the soup is always too salty, but, hey, it is what it is.

We have been coming to Cozy for a few years, ever since my son was a baby and it amazes me how the same waitress and bus-person always know us and know our son, which is very nice. Cozy is a small neighborhood diner. It can get very crowded, especially on the weekends. The restaurant is a little dated but clean for the most part. Tables are usually clean and set-up nicely. One thing I don't care much for is the dirty, grimy menus and sometimes the coffee cups have lipstick on them. You might also find a dirty water glass, and take care to wipe down you silverware. The food is good, not outstanding but it is good. Plates are served hot and the coffee cups are refilled promptly. Sometimes the coffee is good, and sometimes it is downright nasty. I usually order their diet cold plate which I like very much. Fresh fruit, coleslaw, cottage cheese, a scoop of chicken salad on a bed of lettuce with hard boiled egg and tomato wedges. I think the price range is about $7.95 for the plate, which is good for all the food you get. My fiancee usually gets the big breakfast, I think it's Hungry Man's Special which is your average pancakes, eggs, potatoes, meat and toast My kid usually gets his bagel with cream cheese and a bowl of cereal Last time we were there (Saturday, October 01, 2011) there were two servers for a very crowded restaurant. There is one waitress who has been there for years and I always see new faces there, but this lady, the one who has been there for a long time seemed to be the only person handling customers that day although another server was there. She promptly took our order and within 10 minutes or less our food was served. Everything was good except the lipstick on the coffee cup grossed us out. I don't think I have ever paid over $30 for a meal there, maybe $25 at most, including tip. Prices are very, very fair for the food you get. Another thing you might not like is that this is a family restaurant so you may have tables with screaming kids; which is something I don't really care for but can overlook since I have a child myself. Lots of senior citizens frequent the place as well. Despite the bad reviews Cozy is getting on Yelp, I think they are OK. They could use some improvements as far as clean cups and glasses and menus that don't have gunk on them and maybe some fresh paint on the walls, but for the most part, Cozy is alright in my book.

3.5 stars Definitely more corner than cozy! My mom insisted on showing off their new Trader Joe's this morning. She balked when I said they opened at 9am, so off we went. Low and behold we pulled into an empty parking lot with 30 minutes to kill. Since she promised me breakfast we left the car and mosied on over to CC. My parent's love diners and are regulars at CC; they go so often they're now friendly with the owner Georgia. One time they hid behind their menus when she walked into another restaurant up the street we happened to be eating at; they didn't want her to think they were cheating on her. Service was attentive and friendly, waters and coffee never dipped below half a cup. My mom got her usual omelet with toast and fruit on the side. I got the silver dollar pancakes and a side of hash browns with cheese. I probably could've managed with just the potatoes, I got a dinner plate with heaping pile of potatoes on it. I don't know how many pancakes I got, I think I got at least 10; they were served with a side of hot syrup. Bottom line: The food was good, not great; the service good and the prices reasonable.

Great place to go for reasonably priced diner food. And, it's one of the shrinking number of places in downtown OP that's been there as long as I can remember. Come on Oak Parkers, don't let this place turn into a chain restaurant or more condos! The two-egg breakfast comes with potatoes and toast (even though it doesn't say so on the menu) and it's under 5 bucks. Our waitress was very attentive, with the perfect amount of diner waitress sass (Me: "Do you have sourdough toast?" Her: "We're not that classy"). Coffee is decent, and my cup was never empty.

  • Brandon B.

Nice COZY diner feel, with well priced food, great location, and nice service. The breakfast platter I ordered was a little bland, but nothing that a little pepper couldn't cure. BIt of a sterile generic decor but this place isn't trying to be anything other than a home-y diner with decent food, which it does quite well.

  • Jacob D.

If you're looking for crappy diner food Cozy Corner might be for you. Or if you have an ounce of self respect and actually want an enjoyable breakfast, please skip this "restaurant." Though the waitress was friendly enough, she was slow and smelled of cigarettes. The food was not very good and the coffee was stale. After my breakfast (2 eggs, toast and coffee) I felt terrible. Do yourself a favor and go down to Wishbone on Roosevelt for some real food, or check out the brand new Original Pancake House on Madison.

The service here sucked big time! This past Saturday morning, my friend, gf and I waited a good 10 minutes before anybody came over to us to aske for drinks and even introduce themselves to us. A family next to us had some trouble with the waitress and they got into a huge argument. The waitress tells them to leave! WTF!? Then a few minutes later, the same waitress comes to our table and asks us if we had a problem. Where did she learn her customer service because clearly she had NONE! You don't ask people if they have a problem, you ask them if everything's okay or if they need anything. If we weren't so damn hungry, we would've left! It turns out that this waitress is also the manager! Holy cow! I'm surprised she still has customers with her rotten attitude! The only reason we ended up here is because Grandma Sally's was closed due to the power outage. Even though the food was good, the service was horrible and it made me not even want to eat the food. I have been living in Oak Park for about 9 years now and have never been to this place and will DEFINITELY NOT RETURN!

Ok diner. Sucked in by corner cafe charm. Seems there is a small, quiet regular senior morning crowd here, not much room or welcome for newcomers. They seem old and tired. Asked for hot sauce, got none, guess the lady kitty-corner from me had priority. 2x2x2 was french toast, links, bacon, eggs, diner coffee. Unremarkable, unfortunate. Delia's Kitchen across the way seemed more interesting, should've taken a look first.

Went here for Sunday brunch. Prices are reasonable but the food is just bland. No flavor to the Western Omelet, Hasbrowns or Chicken Philly Wrap. Coke even tasted like nothing. Restaurant is none too clean either. Nasty looking menus with grime all over them, dirty water glasses. I don't drink coffee, but people I was with declared it the worst cup of coffee they ever had.

Overall, this place is OK, not great though. Both times we were there (for breakfast), it was crowded and none of the waiters acknowledged us, so we stood waiting by the door (this seems to be the norm???). The food was just OK. The building is old and the restaurant has not been renovated, and reading other reviews, we agree that it's not the cleanest place..... Very fast-paced and loud, not a relaxing place to sit around and chit-chat. Both times we were there the waitress was very nice..... and cracking jokes, a plus so we gave this place a 3.

Met a friend for coffee and brunch last week. I had the "Cozy Benedict" which is an eggs benedict with avocado, tomato and canadian bacon. You can't beat it for $7! It was tasty. They also have good coffee and fill you up frequently. A great old school diner.

Service is bad but it's a nice location. The food is mediocre and about what you'd expect from an old greek corner diner. Prices are fair.

  • Zeldin Q.

Waitress was really nice. Treated us like regulars. Hon this, hon that, smiles, and pats on the shoulder. Salad sat atop quite a bit of water. Tuna tasted freshly made. Corned beef hash and hash browns could use more time on the grill. Eggs cooked perfectly. Overall a pleasant experience. Old-school coffee shop type place, with old-school prices and old-school service. I'll go back.

This is a classic all American style diner. It looks like the painting "Boulavard of Broken Dreams" was inspired by this place. The food is really good with huge portions and the prices are very reasonable. A place that all ages can find something they like. They are very friendly also.

Simple place, perfect for breakfast and making this diner-raised East Coast kid feel at home. The menu is a bit scattered and the quality of service varies wildly, but can't beat it for an egg sandwich and some alone time in a window booth.
