I haven't been here in years so of course I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it looks now. It seems that they did do some remodeling and tidying up here. The staff is still laid back and relaxed, not really caring if they have a line a mile long, take their time. But it doesn't matter, the food is good and thats what counts. Of course I consider this fast food so I can't really say its an exciting restaurant, but you get the point. I do like the fried clams, although they look like only breading, they pack a nice punch, they are nice and tender inside so of course they are good for me. I really don't like fast food joints, since my palate has taken on a whole new meaning but of course I will say, its not bad at all. Its not the type of place you take a date too, but of course, some of you think Red Lobster is a five star so I shouldn't say you wouldn't. Parking is ample and I did like the fact that I didn't have to search for a parking spot so thats always a good sign. Needless to say, try them out and judge for yourself.

Yeah, it's fried food but it's damn good fried food. You can tell that the oil used is fresh. My fish was perfectly breaded, the meat was white and fresh. Loved my fries and green beans as well. The hush puppies are lighter, but somehow better too. You wait a bit for the food but it's no big deal because you are getting good, fresh food!

I love the food! It's all so yum yum because it's fried, duh! My last meal on earth would be Long John Silver's. I know I know it's not the best seafood but I have history with this place. Ever since I was a little girl I eat with my dad here and I always get the fish and shrimp platter! Once in a while I would get a strawberry milkshake. Oh oh also the fish taco is pretty good. Place is clean, bathroom is clean...staff are clean! Service is fast and if you wait it's because they're making it hot and fresh for you. (For those who remembered this joint before the makeover...everywhere aspect of customer service was horrible). I've noticed that the prices have gone up a bit. Corp thing. Yet, 7.99 for 2 fish, 8 pieces of shrimp, fries, 2 hushpuppies, and cole slaw is not so bad. I have been coming for over 15 years and will continue to so so until I die.

Ok my don't like to review fast food places so much anymore unless they really suck because they generally give you the same product anywhere you go. No different here, except the place was exceptionally cleaner than other LJS's I've been to in the area, plus our food order was large and extremely accurate, not to mention relatively quick. Plus they gave up the little crunchies...you know, the crunchies at the bottom of the box that come with your chicken planks? There's some LJS's that don't give to you at all anymore OR they will even charge you for them. WTF is that? Even better, they were merged with a A&W, and they offered free refills even on A&W root beer, something that several other locations like this that I've been to in the past will charge you for. AND the service wass was great...very friendly!

This review is for both Long John SIlvers AND A&W Root Beer restaurant A&W gets a one star only for the Cheese Curds First: LJS: Really nothing to complain about. They are the same as when I was a kid over 20 years ago. I do like their new crispy fish! It really makes a great next day fish fillet sandwich with a slice of cheese! You really cant do that with their traditional battered...which is still great as ever. Never been a fan of hush puppies...too greasy for me. I do however LOVE those little buttery lobster bites! YUM!!!!!!!!!! Also like the breaded clam strips. I recall when they used to serve deep fried oysters! All in all LJS rates a 9/10 Now for A&W Root Beer: I have fond memories of the one in Wisconsin Dells...dont know if its there anymore. The waitresses usd to skate out to the cars and hang the trays off the side of the windows! And Im not even 45 and this used to happen! This A&W however is the meh at best. I ordered a cheeseburger and for over $2 its no more than a Wendys 99cent dble cheeseburger. The fries are BLAND and BORING. The cheese curds the first time I ordered were TERRIBLE overcooked and dried out..I couldnt believe this place hadnt heard of CULVERS curds. Ok so the second time I tried them, they were fresh hot tastey and as good as Culvers...with one exception..Culvers gives ya two types of cheese curd...YELLOW & WHITE....A&W only served the white. The service was crappy....very ghettoish for this part of Oaklawn..I thought I was ordering food from 26th & California..."yall dont need ketchup does ya" as a heavily tatted arm served me my food... there was only me...how could there have even been a "yall"...*sigh...welfare to work at its finest I guess... The worst was the ROOT BEER! Dear GOD...we all know how great A&W RB is...so you would figure getting it from the fountain would be all sweet and root beer syrupy goodness right? WRONG....watered down mess. STAY AWAY.

Sometimes... especially sometimes when your lady hormones are making you mental, you need a little fast food and a little frosty diet root beer. I happened to be out here on my way to yet another far out suburban branch of my bank, and also because it is my fate to be sucked into the black hole vortex that is suburbia. It's tragic but I'm beginning to accept my doom. At least my doom can involve cheese fries. PS- this is a Long John Silver/A&W combo joint

I like this Long John Silver's / A&W eatery. I mostly come here for the A&W side, but I've had the fish, too. I had my first ever root beer float in one of their huge A&W mugs here, and it was great. Sometimes your root beer float gets made by the stingy manager (90% root beer / 10% ice cream) and sometimes your root beer float gets made by that cool guy who yells, "THANK YOU!" when you ring the bell (50% root beer / 50% ice cream). The burgers are really good, which surprised me. Usually, I don't care much for fast food burgers. These burgers lean more toward something you would make at home vs that McDonald's soy patty taste. Also, they sometimes have promotions like free burgers or coupons, but it's not advertised--you just have to drop in and find out. I haven't been there lately, but it's nice to know that the next time I'm craving a root beer float or burger, this place'll be there.

First of all, lovely people who are polite to a fault work here. That's a good thing. Why only three stars then, you ask? Well, the dining space was filthy. Although smartly decorated, it seemed that many surfaces hadn't been wiped down all day and the floor hadn't been swept up. Sadly, the juxtaposition of the lovely staff with the filthy environment causes me to settle on a three star rating.
