The servers were helpful, it was a very busy morning when we came to eat and we didn't feel to neglected. Sadly the quality wasn't there, we often eat at First Watch and expected the food and flavors to be on par. No such luck.

While the Egg & I is clearly a breakfast/brunch type place the food is clearly top notch and the chefs have a complete grasp on properly cooking of their menu item; it's clearly some of the best local talent around. This was my third visit here and I plan to keep coming at least monthly. The servers here are the best I've seen in a long time; very polite and professional to anyone who comes in the door. So far, we've come in on a weekday, at mid-morning after 10:30am. The "downshift" between breakfast and lunch crowd, it was fairly packed still; with the wait staff busing the tables but with smiles on their faces (a rarity in most modern restaurants). On the breakfast menu, they have 8 different varieties of the Eggs Benedict: (7 in their own Benedict column and the Cambridge Skillet which is a heavier version of an Egg's Benedict). They have a wonderful "tomato hollandaise sauce"; that's is a unique twist on the traditional hollandaise sauce to provide more flavor to the Benedicts choices on the menu. So far I've had the traditional EB, the Parisian Benedict, and the Cambridge Skillet; all were perfect every single time I couldn't ask for better service or quality from the staff and cooks. I love the "Key West Sunrise Cooler" (A mixture of lemonade, orange juice and Sprite® with a splash of grenadine) is a nice morning pick me up with a free refill included. They have all Coke Products for beverages.

Had the corn beef hash. Awesome! Served very hot. Take your time eating this. Had my eggs basted & they were perfect. They have Apple Butter for my English Muffin...wow. The Jalapeño sauce is great alternative to Tabasco. Check this place out!

Eggs, eggs, and more eggs....

I took my nephew here for breakfast. The hours are similar to First Watch. They close at 2:30p everyday. It took a while to get a waitress. they were starting to get a little busy. I was disappointed that the OJ was $3 for a 16oz glass. that is the large. my nephew drank 2 glasses. i almost made him drink water. but i couldn't do that to my buddy. I ordered a bacon mushroom omelette. it was ok. i got gravy instead of hollandaise sauce. i really liked the food itself. my nephew liked the food but said it would not be a place he would return by choice. overall, the service was slow. i think my nephew got it right. if i am in the area and want to eat then i may go there. it is not a place that i would go out of my way to eat.

Sweet Potato Waffle Eggspress: spicy pecans, cinnamon butter, caramel and Chantilly cream. This was absolutely amazing but only for a limited time. Unfortunately it's no longer on the menu but they still have a lot of good choices. It's a must try place to go!

IN SHORT: A great addition to the O'Fallon/Shiloh area, and well worth the wait for breakfast or lunch. Service is quick and food comes up fast, so don't worry if there's a crowd- tables clear quickly! Many great choices for herbivores, too. THE FULL STORY: I don't usually review chains, but since The Egg & I is something of a novelty in our area, it's worth a quick review. As the name implies, the Egg & I is a breakfast destination that specializes in egg dishes. Their food is quite good, and the portions are generous, so if you like breakfast, this is a superior choice to most of the available options in the area. What you'll find at the Egg & I is a large collection of breakfast dishes that include a variety of options you tend not to find at other restaurants. You can get an omelette, pancakes or a plate of eggs, sure. But you can also get one of several varieties of eggs benedict, frittatas or specialty french toast. There are also lots of skillets that give you way too much food all fried up together. If that's not enough, I recommend the ranch potatoes with sour cream - a nice skillet of starch that makes a wonderful companion to one of their oversized pancakes. I have not tried lunch at The Egg & I, but if their expertise with breakfast is any indication, lunch is probably also quite good. What you'll be most likely to hear about The Egg & I is that it's very crowded and that the waits (especially on weekends) are long. This is certainly true. But the servers move quickly, and tables get cleared a lot faster than you might expect. The food is also quite worth the wait.

The service is awesome....but the food ; not so much. I have been in there twice. I was in there a few weeks after they opened. I order one thing on the menu. I was told that they din't have any. Ordered something else. Was told they were out of that too. This was 9am...how are you out of two menu items at that time???? Finally ordered something that they had , wasn't impressed at all. Went in there again last week.....same thing. I don't know if I will be trying the "3rd time the charm or not"........
(2)Jeff B.
Just tried "The Egg & I" for the third time today. The wait has been horrible during lunchtime (30 minutes to get a seat, 20 to 25 after seated to get your food), so keep that in mind if you have an hour lunch. The food is good, but not great - sometime plates can be bland, and the portion sizes seemed a little small for the average price of $9 a plate.
(2)David H.
Average food that is WAY overpriced. I am amazed when I hear people like this place. First time I was there I ordered the Sante Fe Huevos with chorizo. Well it came without the chorizo and had to argue with the waitress that it wasn't in there. Took about 20 min before she brought a side of chorizo, by that time the dish was cold. Save your money, go to IHOP, it's better.

We took a party of 6 here at about 9:30 on a Sunday and our timing was perfect. There was a table immediately available for us and we were seated quickly. The restaurant probably started to get busy around 10-10:30, but even then people didn't seem to have long waits for a table. Kids meals are just under $5 each and were enough for my kids (4 and 6), but would probably be on the smaller end for kids around 10-12. The adult entrees were all around the $8-10 and were very generously portioned. I ordered the eggs and corn beef hash and it was very good. Not the best I've had, but in my experience the best hash comes from greasy little hole in the wall places. :) Definitely worth a stop if you're looking for a nice breakfast and I'd definitely put the food above the alternatives of IHOP and Denny's. Shiloh/O'Fallon is dominated by chains, but this is still a welcome addition. Our server was pleasant, though could have been a smidge quicker with the coffee refills. The menu is large and offers many options. They also offered a military discount, which was also very nice. With the discount we paid just under $60 for 4 adults, 2 children to eat to the point of being stuffed. Worth a look if you're in the area.

I was there on opening day and I was very pleased. The wait staff was good, the food was good, and the coffee was great. I had the Mexican Omelet because it had chorizo and I love chorizo. It came out fast and it was everything I hoped it would be - fluffy eggs, good chorizo flavor, and lots of cheese. I will be back because there are many, many menu items I want to try.
(5)Lisa S.
Love this place! The food is great and staff are very friendly. They are still new so there are a few quirks to be worked out.
(4)Mackenzie B.
Went here yesterday morning for breakfast. It was busy and there was a 15 minute wait, but I was happy to see that this new business was attracting so much attention. They had self-serve coffee to drink while you waited to be seated. My mom and I both ended up ordering the Crab Cake Benedict which included an english muffin, hash browns, then the 2 crab cakes topped with a tomato slice, poached egg and lots of hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise was good which is a really good thing because MANY of their dishes incorporate them. I also had a side of bacon. Everything was good - except neither my mom or I liked the tomato added to the benedicts. It overpowered the crab flavor and I simply don't want anything messing with crab! :) Reasonable price and good service. This is a great addition to O'Fallon and I will be back many times I'm sure. It is locally owned by a family so none of the chain junk here, and their menu is extensive... they had some pancakes that really peaked my interest
(4)Mark M.
I have to give them a 4 for several reasons. We came in and was seated quickly. The server came over in about 2 min. She didn't know the menu & we sure didn't, it was our first time here. It took 45 min to get our food. The food was hot I was told I could add taco shells in place of my bread. I ask for 2 extra ones. I was charged 0.39 cents for each one. Not the end of the world just unhappy with wrong information. There was 4 of us & our bill was $29.67. For drinks & breakfast. I will go back.
(4)Bill C.
5 stars on the food, 3 stars on the coffee, 3 stars on the value. Finally went here with some friends. Very busy on a Saturday. After we got seated around 9:15 the waiting area really filled up. My potatoes and crab cake eggs Benedict were perfect. 2 others at our table had the midwestern classic: biscuits and gravy. One liked it, the other wasn't a fan of the gravy. My wife's veggie omelet was perfect. Seems to be a minor "upgrade" trick going on when you order coffee. They ask you some question like, "Do you want the Signature Blend?" and almost everyone says yes not knowing if there is a lesser brand available (is there?) or too embarassed to ask. Then you get hit with an almost $3 charge for the coffee which is above average but no top-of-the-line grade in my book. Especially when you consider it costs more than a comparably sized Starbucks! Still, this place does breakfast right. At over $25 per couple (2 entrees, 2 coffees, 1 juice) plus tip - it better!
(4)Katherine F.
This place is very "hit or miss" for me. Sometimes the wait is VERY long, even once you sit down...we have even walked out before, after waiting for 45 minutes for our food. Then, other times, it's great, quick, and easy. Their food is always delicious, especially the Parisian Benedict...but sometimes it's just not worth the wait and SLOW service
(3)Janice B.
I would echo all the positive things said about the food and also cheer peppermint hot chocolate on the menu. Nice touch. Also, there was a crying toddler in the restaurant. The management was really watching everything that went on. I felt they waited JUST the right amount of time before discreetly going over and saying something that cause the dad to take the crying kid outside. She didn't rush over as soon as she started crying, but she didn't wait until our experience was ruined either; just right. Kudos to mgmt because this is a tricky, sensitive thing to do.
(4)Karen R.
Everyone that works there is very friendly, the owners are great. The food is solid breakfast fare, much better than the other options in town.
(4)Troy P.
Trying the ranch potatoes, good breakfast, especially for someone that is allergic to eggs. :) The family was very happy with their meal choices...i was along for the ride. We'll be back.
(4)Sue Z.
I held off for a while thinking it would be crowded and, hey, breakfast is breakfast. I should have gone sooner. Breakfast is not breakfast; this place does it right. I have been there quite a few times, and I had a good experience each time. My wait was reasonable. The place was packed , but our coffee was delivered quickly. I love that they give a carafe to serve yourself. Why doesn't everyone? I double love that they offer hazelnut coffee. All of my choices have been spot on. The same is so with my fellow diners. The menu has choices simply not available at most restaurants that serve breakfast, which is exactly why I keep going here. Sadly, they removed my favorite food: coconut, pineapple pancakes. I ask for them every time hoping they will return soon. I encourage you to do the same. Do not be put off when you see you get only one pancake. This pancake is the size of a lineman's head. The place might be pricey for breakfast, but I think it is worth it.
(5)Julia H.
Worth the wait!!! Had to wait about 20 minutes but it was worth it! They have definitely fixed the issues from prior posts! Service was excellent and food came out quick! Really fresh and high quality ingredients!!! Fresh squeezed OJ, bacon was perfectly crisped, can't say enough! Finally a non-chain restaurant!!!
(5)Jaime G.
Reminds me of First Watch, which is my favorite breakfast place of all time. The wait is insane on the weekend, but that's to be expected. I love the free coffee while you wait and the food was brought out quick. I love the healthier options that come with fruit instead of potatoes, but I'm sure they would sub anything if you asked. My husband likes the benedict choices, and my daughter loved the pancakes with sausage (and a side of bacon--she's a meat eater, haha). Will miss this when we live in Florida!
(4)Katelyn K.
This place was a favorite for my husband and I before we moved! The staff were always very friendly and the food was great. We will definitely come back if we are in the area!
(5)Aaron L.
Very good breakfast. The eggs, bacon, and ranch potatoes were excellent. Our waitress was very nice also. This place is expensive, but excellent place to eat for the most important meal of the day.
(4)gary h.
Great Food The bold coffee is great! I will be back
(5)Nix G.
My first visit today. Thankfully a quiet Monday morning beween breakfast and lunch. I'm sure during peak hours this place is packed. The Hazelnut coffee was delicious, no cream or sugar needed. I'm a huge fan of eggs benedict and so many places get it horribly wrong. But when you have "Egg" in the name of your establishment and a section of the menu dedicated to benedicts clearly you know what you are doing. I had the artichoke florentine with tomato hollandaise. It was fantastic and the eggs were perfectly poached. The waffles and french toast were great too. Oh and the ranch potatoes also very good. We will be back
(5)Cari H.
Healthy to Greasy, and most everything in between. We've eaten here twice and will definitely come back. We haven't had to wait long, but also haven't gone on a weekend. (9am on Wednesday seems busy, but not slammed) On our first visit, I ordered the healthy wrap with egg whites, spinach inside the tomato-wrap. The egg whites and veggies were good, but I wasn't crazy about the flavor of the wrap itself. I'm not too upset since it seems this area has a lack of healthy options for breakfast and The Egg and I has several options. Not to sound too crazy, I also had a side of bacon! (it was crispy and well-cooked) Hubby had the biscuits and gravy and ate every bite. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and VERY pulpy. Our hostess was outgoing and made a little joke about us not leaving hungry and our server was friendly, although I got an impression that she wanted us to hurry up. She was never rude... just in a rush and came by to take our order about 30 seconds after handing us the extensive menu. We asked for a couple more minutes and after a perfectly-timed 2:00, she was back with a smile on her face. The second visit was just as good, still busy, still spotty service, but I love breakfast so much, I didn't care. I would say... if you're in a hurry... this ain't the place to go. This is a place for a leisurely breakfast or brunch.
(4)Kimmie K.
I always get the Crabcakes Eggs Benedict! It's always amazing & delicious, every single time! The wait staff is always friendly and nice too! I always take my out of town guests here, so they can experience the greatness!!
(5)Michael C.
I came in from out of town that weekend. This is far the BEST egg white frittata entrée I have ever had in my entire life! This place takes down IHOP in a heartbeat! I am glad to see that this place used healthier choice wheat bread than some ordinary wonder bread. Our young waiter on Saturday morning at 9am November 9, 2013 was excellent. We had great services overall. Once I am back in town I will be sure to have breakfast there asap! Please keep up the great services and work!
(5)P. L. D.
The people are soo friendly and personable. The owners comes around to every table every single time we go and we've been several times. They really care if you are having a good time. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The FOOD is delicious and large portions. Don't even attempt to eat the entire pancake! That's right, pancake, singular. They serve one pancake instead of two. But it's the size of a plate and they are amazing! The coffee is sooo good and they keep it coming. They even have a little coffee stand at the front so you can sample before you're seated. And it's a very clean place. It makes IHOP and Cracker Barrel look like they cover their utensils in mud! :D This is our, hands down, favorite place for breakfast.
(5)Michal H.
I'd give less stars if I could. This place is about 50/50 for service and quality of food. I've never been terribly displeased until my last visit. My waiter was more interested in talking to his friends than bringing out my food. When the food arrived the eggs were rubbery and cold. Gravy tasted like it came from a can. My wife's waffle was cold. Overall a terrible experience. I won't go back.
(1)Charlotte K.
Good impression on my first visit. Had the Greek Frittata, which also came with toast and potatoes. Everything tasted very good, and the price wasn't too bad.
(4)Dan H.
Not impressed with my first visit. I ordered the breakfast burrito. I was not much bigger than the McDonalds breakfast burrito surrounded by a quarter head of lettuce. It said it was three eggs . From the size it may have had two small eggs. The potatoes that came with it were cold. Not sure if hey get another try.
(1)Steven M.
My new favorite place for breakfast. Great food! Staff is friendly and prompt. Place is kept clean and has a great atmosphere. I love the menu selection... if you like eggs then you'll love this place!
(5)Jen R.
I'm choosing 2 stars cause it's "Meh. I've experienced better". Which is the truth! Three stars is "A-OK" and I didn't walk out thinking that. I was very excited to try this restaurant. My husband and I went during a weekday at 11AM. We got seated and served right away. The food also came quickly and was hot. I just didn't love it. The prices. . . well I ordered a small OJ based on the price and it sure was SMALL! Wow. Totally overpriced. I don't care if it's fresh squeezed (didn't taste that way to me), I have an expectation of the size and it fell way short. I actually forced myself not to drink it till the food came, otherwise it would have been long gone. I got the breakfast croissant. I guess I didn't really read the description. Diced ham it said. Yeah - they put diced ham in a huge fluff of eggs. I could barely taste the ham. I think it would be way better if there was sliced ham layered on top of the eggs. The sandwich was a good size, but it was basically bread and egg. I didn't finish it cause I started to get kind of sick of eating big mouthfuls of egg. I couldn't taste the ham. I like the croissant at burger king better! The ranch potatoes are ok. I prefer hash browns. My husband got the sunrise chile rellenos. He liked it well enough. We paid just over $24 for breakfast for 2. I think that's a bit steep for breakfast. Breakfast is generally not expensive to make. Especially when you barely put any ham on the sandwich!! Ha. I'll stick with Good Ol' Days which is closer to me, or Denny's. I like to feel like I'm getting a good value for my money.
(2)Randee C.
Holy cow that was amazing food!! We are breakfast snobs who LOVE to eat. This was the BEST breakfast we've had!! Everything was beyond delicious, beautiful and everyone who worked there was super friendly! We will be back....tomorrow ;). I just can't believe it took so long for us to try it!
(5)Amanda Y.
Our plan was to eat at our hotel, but the kitchen caught on fire, the fire trucks came and that clearly wasn't going to happen. Since this was across the street we gave it a try and got there shortly after they opened. Eggs-cellant! I had the Hiker's Benedict and it was wonderful! Asparagus was crisp and the Hollandaise was lemony! My husband had a skillet and liked his. Daughter had strawberry/banana waffle...yummy! Son had biscuits and gravy and said it was ok, but he was grumpy so what does he know! The server was wonderful and we were in and out in about 35 minutes! Everyone was very nice and I would totally go there again!
(5)Dena A.
This was the 2nd time I've eaten at The Egg and I. Both times I've been disappointed by their service. The first time I attributed it to being a busy Saturday morning. Today, at 11 a.m., it was not at all crowded, yet we usually had to ask for things twice. The menu wildly varies from the old standards like iHop and Denny's, but the quality wasn't any better. Their prices are reasonable. I doubt that we'll return.
(3)Steven B.
Simply the best omelette I have ever eaten!!! I would definitely recommend the egg and eye to anyone who likes omelettes or eggs in general.
(5)Amber K.
Every time we go here there's a long wait. Every one raves about this place so I had to try it. The first time I went I ordered the huevos rancheros. I did not like it. I went here again and ordered the french toast. I still did not like it. It's pretty bland and so not worth the wait. Not sure what the hype is about.
(1)Kimmy N.
To me this is a typical Denny's and ihop place. Maybe one star up but there's nothing that fantastic about this place but overpriced breakfast. Of course I would come back if I wanted a decent sit down breakfast. I would choose this place over dirty Denny's and ihop. 1 star off for overpriced breakfast 2 stars off for the owner being stuck up and rude.
(3)Nick L.
Awesome place! The best breakfast I've ever had anyplace. Excellent service. Only downside is there is typically long wait times for a table. Worth the wait if you want great breakfast though. Highly recommended.
(5)Jerry K.
Little pricey for breakfast, but so is IHOP. Over all the food was good and the service was excellent on a very busy morning.
(4)Rene D.
Yum! Hubby had corned beef hash n eggs I had Vera Cruz chicken & avo omelet. Delishious! We had a nice conversation with people next to us which r regulars. Great service too. Till next time
(5)Ryan R.
Food was quite poor in quality and portions. I ordered the Belgian Waffles Eggspress. The waffle tasted like paper and the sausage had some plastic covering on it that I had to pull off. I also noticed that they seem to water down their syrup which for a breakfast guy like me is blasphemy. After all that you will pay much more than other places. Unacceptable for what you pay. Service was good however.
(2)Tina K.
Overall, a very nice place to have breakfast. Atmosphere was pleasant and our server was awesome. My husband had the Greek Frittata. It was very good and was a decent size portion. I had the Parisian Benedict. Unfortunately, mine was just alright. It was lukewarm and the hollandaise sauce was a little watery and bland. Prices are a little high for breakfast but not ridiculously so. We would come back again.
(4)Megan S.
Great selection of breakfast foods! My husband and I frequent this place quite a bit. We love brunch, and there are not too many spots where we live. They have a very friendly staff as well. They have seasonal specials on food and coffee, and everything is quite tasty. They are accommodating for special requests as well. Great place for breakfast!
(5)Tina S.
Went here this morning with some friends after they finished the Top of the Mornin run. They needed some carbs and I was just hungry. We did have a 20 minute wait. Once we were seated our waitress was quick to grab our drink orders. I was impressed with the amount of food items on the menu, considering they are only open for breakfast and lunch. They had some great gluten free options and a light menu. I ordered from the light menu, a egg white frittata with chicken, tomatoes, spinach and cheddar, and a English muffin. When the waitress brought my order I was surprised to find a bowl of fresh fruit also,....bonus. My friends got the blueberry pancakes, French toast, and a scrambler. I love that we got a carafe of coffee, it always bothers me to have to wave down my waitress when I need coffee. Great experience, good food and yes it was worth the wait.
(4)Elizabeth W.
I had not been to the Egg and I for a couple of years. The food is excellent. I had the bacon spinach omelette with hollandaise sauce. It was well prepared and well cooked without being overdone or dried out. Everything was hot and fresh. The wait staff was friendly. My one little complaint is the hostess is set off to the side where you can't really see her when you first walk in. The register is immediately in front of the door when you walk in so we went to the cashier for seating. It wasn't until the people who came in after us were seated ahead of us that we realized where we were supposed to go. The prices are not too bad about eight to $10 for the entrée. And coffee for two or three dollars. Decor is really cute and very attractively done. Can't wait to go back!
(4)Terry S.
Love this place. I've been to Egg & I's far and wide, and this one is right up there with the rest of them. A five-star breakfast!
(5)Kevin W.
This is a very good place to have breakfast. I'm not a very big fan of the Decore and there is always a wait on the weekend mornings. But, the food is very good and the coffee is strong. We went there Sunday and my wife got the biscuits and gravy and I got the Santa Fe Huevous. The staff is very friendly and there are whole lot of people working which means that your wait time is only about 15 minutes at the most.
(4)Kevin H.
Timing and Wait: I arrived ~ 9am - the restaurant at this point was near full. In past occurrences of trying to get in, you WILL wait if you arrive at peak hours. So a 3 rating for Timing and Wait. Quality and Appearance: The place is immaculate, very warm and cozy atmosphere. Little things like quality of plates and glasses and even a lace napkin ( I guess that's the term) for the fruit cup. So a 4 rating for Quality and Appearance. Food Quality and Cost: The food was awesome, top quality and best yet. I ordered the Vera Cruz Omelette - it was best tasting ever. The Rainforest coffee was the best tasting "Restaurant Coffee" I've had - ever. My two boys loved the Biscuits and Gravy and Waffle and Eggs. The cost for all of us (two adults and one Child) was ~ $37. So a 5 rating for Food and 3 for Cost - meaning kinda-high. Staff and Speed of Service: The staff is great, friendly polite and ensure customer quality is top-notch. Several different team members brought food to my table - so this clearly indicates a dedication to customer service. So a 5 rating for Staff and Speed of Service. Overall Rating is 4.5.
(4)Garrett S.
I tried this spot when on travel for work. It's awesome, we ended up coming here 4 of 6 mornings. My favoritea were the Denver Jack Scramble, Mexican Omelette, and Green Chili Chicken Hash while the Breakfast Burrito was also solid (should have gotten chorizo, not pork sausage). Staff is great. On a Sunday morning while waiting for a table to be cleared (after being helped immediately after walking in the door) 2 or 3 staff members asked us if we needed to be seated. I've honestly never seen a team so on the ball. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The iced coffee is OK (that's all I drank past water). They will make anything with egg whites, which is a plus if you like lighter fare. I will be back in a few weeks for sure and each time I return for work! When it's my turn to pick the breakfast spot for my crew this will always be my choice.
(5)Shelby S.
The ambience of this place was spot on! Food comes in very large portions that are great for an afternoon snack. I have two problems that took a star off each. My child needs a booster seat, when the greeter handed us one, it looked like it had just been taken out of the washer. It was dripping wet. The second is the small stall in the women's restroom is broken. I brought it up to management and he shrugged it off. Not cool. Be warned.
(3)Kelly B.
The food was very good. Beautifully plated. Our waiter Mike was very sweet. Get the French toast it's very good!
(5)Ashley F.
I've been to the Egg and I a few times for breakfast and it's usually pretty good. This time I went for lunch with coworkers and it was terrible. The server was odd, seemed distracted, and slow getting drinks, checking in, etc. Our food took forever. We had ordered a couple clubs, a wrap, and an omelette. Nothing too crazy to "cook" which was the cause for concern after 40 minutes with no food. Finally the food came out, to which a manager blamed the mishap on lack of toothpicks for the clubs. Maybe make them without toothpicks?? The sandwiches looked like they had been ran over by a bus. The potatoes and toast were COLD--yuck--because the staff was fretting about the toothpick situation. The manager informed us the "cook would pay for the club." It was comped, which I guess was something. Do they really make their cooks pay for the food? The whole experience was not good. It'll be awhile if I decide to go back.
(2)Michael W.
Went to see what it was all about. One look at the menu and shocked to see nothing cheaper then nine bucks for.breakfast, even bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast was 8.99. We got up and left for IHOP..
(2)Little J.
Liked their fresh oj.good service just the food was very slow.overall the food is alittle greasy and salty for my taste.but its just me.i always order the same thing.lol
(3)Cheryl D.
This is my 3rd time eating at an Egg & I - and it gets better every time. Food, service and cleanliness are way above average. I would highly recommend eating here
(5)John B.
More than a few reviews talk about the wait for food. So, we chose 930am on a good weather Sunday--busy time. Our wait was only 10 mins for a table. Although the entry area is cramped with the register (how about letting the servers run the bill?), they have free coffee while you wait. After ordering, we only had to wait 10 mins for our food (I checked my watch) and it was piping hot food. When I mentioned surprise as to how fast it was, the server told me they had a new kitchen manager and it was running much better. We chose the Athena scramble ($7.99) and (seasonal) Pumpkin Pecan Cinnamon waffle combo ($9.79). My scramble was hearty and healthy and -- as a southerner -- I declare the grits as "more than suitable"! The waffle was a bit too close to a cinnamon roll waffle than pumpkin, more of a sweet tooth item than a seasonal pumpkin waffle. The waiter stopped by often and the manager stopped by to ask if we were doing okay. $24.99 for two people (coffee & juice), before the 10% military discount at the register. Tomorrow, the menu is getting a big change with about 15 items coming off, replaced with new ones. This is a good place to eat breakfast.

Ok our first time here & your reviews on here let me down BIG TIME! Service was horrible. Horrible. The manager was horrible, she needs to be canned quickly. I ordered the Deluxe Sandwich. Our food took 30min to get to the table, my sandwich was COLD! I thought it was the tomatoes...NOPE the ham! So another 15min later I receive a hot sandwich. The coffee was the only good thing I experienced here. The table next to us food also was cold and the manager blew them off. So I'm sure they lost some good paying customers today.

I will always give this place 5 stars because it is simply the best brunch in the area. We have eaten here many times, and the food has never been sent back. I usually order the special, or the athena scramble. I love the ranch potatoes (good even when cold). The mountain man special is my favorite. The service is slower - it is run more in the style of a mom and pop business. I love the tea carafes and my mom says the blueberry pancake was a dream.

The Egg and I go hand and hand like Peas and Carrots. I love Eggs. I eat eggs almost daily. And I am very picky how I like my eggs. I went here with co-workers and I took pictures of our food. I was also able to try all their dishes and there wasn't a bad thing there. And 6 different Egg Benedicts? Oh Egg and I. You have my heart. I will be back for many, many more cups of Brasilian coffee. The servers were a little slower than I usually like, but it was their 2nd day. You got to give them a break. I did meet the manager, Cathy. She's such a doll. Beginner, I would start with the Cambridge Skillet: Diced ham, bacon and hollandaise sauce on a bed of ranch potatoes with melted cheese and two eggs any style. Served with an English muffin. It was beyond amazing.

The food tastes like paper. For a restaurant that has the word "Egg" in it, and they don't have real eggs, I think is a bridge too far. They use egg substitute, and when confronted about this issue, the manager proceeded to lie about the eggs, saying they were real. My dad delivers food for Denny's restaurant, I know egg beaters when I see it. Not only was the food terrible, but the manager went out of his way to insult my intelligence. Never again.

Very very good food. Very busy on weekends do plan for extra time. Owners are local and Hugh supporters of my daughter when she was battling cancer. She lost her battle with cancer this year at 26 and they always had a nice word to say to me. Just a great place to eat and meet.

I came here on a weekday morning, it was really early so it wasn't that busy at all. The servers and the hostess were really great, they were all very nice and friendly. Really great service here! Also there is a 10% military discount! I ordered the Viva La France which had french toast, eggs and sausage for about $8.00. I was a little surprised with the portion especially in regard to the cost. As for the flavors, it's honestly just really basic American breakfast food so nothing flashy or unique about it. Maybe the other options, which they do have quite a lot of, would have been better but I mean who messes up the basics, right? The only thing that I really really enjoyed was their hot suace. It was incredible! It made the food redeemable. I will have to go back just to grab myself a bottle, which cost about $3.00.

The place was packed, but we were seated within 10 minutes. Service was a bit slow, but cheery. The menu is expansive and a great alternative to the norm. We ordered the Mexican omelet, chicken and green chili hash, and triple berry crepes. Everything was delicious and portions were huge. The crepes could have been a bit thinner. The kids menu has a large variety and my kids enjoyed the junior omelet and fruit. Fresh ingredients and multiple blends of coffee to choose from. Great pick.

The egg and I is one of our regular breakfast locations. It is certainly not a mom-and-pop breakfast place that serves some type of amazing breakfast cuisine; however, it is better than most other places in the area that serves breakfast. The food is slightly overpriced considering it's typically eggs and potatoes but overall the service is good they have a fair selection of different meals and they do provide a military discount.

This was our first time at this chain. Family of 7 left today very, very satisfied. Corned Beef Hash, Benedict's, Scramble's, and Skillet's were all extremely tasty. Service (Kevin) was excellent for brunch. This could become a brunch staple for our family. Also enjoyed the jalapeño hot sauce!

I've come here several times for breakfast and never been disappointed. It's next door to my favorite bar (Global Brew) and a subpar Italian restaurant (Bella Milano). It is how I would envision an upscale Denny's. I've never been here for lunch, but their breakfast is very vegetarian friendly without sacrificing flavor. I usually go for the Athena Scramble, but today I ventured off into frittata land. Although I couldn't see anything Greek about my entree, I was satisfied...and could only eat half of it. Most of their menu portions are more than substantial.

Went there for the first time today. Pleasant atmosphere and staff. Had egg whites, bacon and a waffle. Food was good but just a little expensive in my opinion...$10.10 after taxes. Would eat there again and try something more adventurous.

The stuffed French toast is yummy! And the waitress is super nice. It's so important for brunch.

Friends had told me the service was slow so we have never been there. I however was seated after ten minutes and it was the breakfast rush. Regardless of being quickly seated, my meal was sub-par. The Viva La France French toast was nothing more than an unpleasant tasting mush. The scrambled eggs were terribly overcooked and dry. I will not return.

I think the Athena scramble is fantastic! Eggs, feta, asparagus, tomatoes and mushrooms!!!!! The taters are good too. The seasoning makes them so flavorful.

On my recent day off I stopped into The Egg & I for breakfast around 8 am. I was promptly greeted and seated upon arrival. The menu has a tremendous selection of dishes made with eggs and a few that don't like pancakes and waffles. First of all the service was excellent. My waitress was very friendly and helpful. I chose the bacon and cheese omelet. The omelet was HUGE! It was very fluffy and covered in cheese. It was served with ranch potatoes and 4 large pieces of wheat toast. The ranch potatoes were awesome! I was also excited to see that they offered a bold coffee option. The coffee was delicious. This has to be the best breakfast I've had in a long time. I will definitely be back.

They offer a Military Discount. There are many vegetarian and gluten free options. You don't HAVE to order eggs. You don't HAVE to order toast or english muffin with your breakfast. They offer fresh fruit, tomato slices etc. instead. FINALLY someplace is getting with the program! Everything is customizable: adding jalapeños, avocado and artichoke hearts to your dish? No problem. They have multiple coffee flavors to choose from. When you order herbal tea they give you TWO bags. Snap! My mom loves this place. My husband loves this place, and I love this place too. Thank you YELP!

Everything we ordered was good! I had corned beef hash - it was great! I also had a pancake it was nice and big. The kids meals seemed to be a good value. Coffee was very good! I loved the menu options and would go back.

I have left a review here once before for the pancakes. They are great. I recently tried a few new items. We tried the stuffed french toast and for me this just had way to much going on, its one of those things that sound great on the menu but really isn't in person. I wouldn't try this again. I was dissapointed with there french toast, it wasn't all that, i could make better at home I think. The biscuits and gravy are pretty good, they have flavor the sausuage is a bit spicy. The ranch potatoes are fantastic! For the prices i think i would rather go elsewhere, it is quite expensive for breakfast being closer to the $10 a plate for breakfast. I will come back to try a few other things though. The service is great.

Love this place for breakfast. Service is great and the food is good. More pricey than I usually do for breakfast, but the quality holds up to the cost.
