Went to Shooters for dinner last night. Never had been before. If you are going for the first time here is a piece of advice....get the deep fried ribs and order as many of them as you can eat!!! They were AMAZING! They slow cook their ribs like most places do, but the deep fried ribs they coat in some sort of brown sugar rub and drop them in the deep fryer. What is on your plate is nothing short of heaven on a rib bone. The best ribs I've ever had. Unbelievable. We also had an order of Wings for an appetizer. They were very good juicy chicken wings and the sauce was hot, but not crazy hot... exactly what I'm looking for in a hot wing. The only thing keeping me from giving this place 5 stars was that the service was a little slow considering the restaurant wasn't very full. I will say though, the food was well worth the wait. The other thing was that I was a bit disappointed with was the sides I had ordered with my ribs. The sweet n sour cole slaw was not too bad, but I didn't feel like it had much flavor. And the potato salad was, for lack of a better term, "fluffy. It was like a really fluffy mayo based potato salad, but my serving was almost all "fluff" and no actual potatoes, and again was very bland tasting. But the friend I ate with ordered fries and onion rings, which i also tried, and they were both delicious. Overall though, this place was great. Fun atmosphere and AMAZING deep fried ribs. Will definitely be frequenting this place!

Don't take much stock from the reviewers who can't spell. We went here twice during a weekend, and I admit I only had: deep fried sugar ribs, deep fried sugar wings, and onion rings. If you don't like those things, well, I apologize for your outlook on life. Maybe you were not raised with love, I don't know. Because when I ate here, I gave thanks to the good Lord who bless us here in America with such nice things as Shooters' Deep Fried Ribs. I may die that much sooner from all the ribs I ate, but that's okay. I couldn't imagine enjoying myself more if I stood in line at that place in the city.

I travel for a work and the people at this place made it feel like home. Most people in the area showed a good bit of animosity to this Texan when I lived here last year. Not at this place. Nice little neighborhood bar in O'fallon. Service is fantastic and the food is off the fing Hook. I think I ate everything in the menu within a mouth and its all good.I have nothing bad to say about the place. The people that go there seem to be more on the classy side which is kind of a shock to me. Sweet smoked wings are a must eat. The best in the world!! Way better then Smokey Bones down the street. It's also a great place to watch games.
(5)Mike A.
Service can be slow sometimes but the food is worth the wait. Anything they sweet smoke is good. Deep fried ribs are a must try. I typically get the brisket with onion rings. Best onion rings I've ever had. Parking can be a problem also.
(5)Jon B.
It is way loud in here. Tons of tv's for watching the game. Piggy wings: tasty, but tough on the outside. Could be a meal by the selves. Fried pickles: average, nothing to write home about. Brisket: awesome, very tasty. Try it with the St Louis sauce. Onion rings are just awesome. Yum yum yum!

This is a great place to catch the game and some deep fried ribs. I have had many different types of ribs, but this was the first time for deep fried. I will definitely put this on my place to visit when I am in town. They have a good selection of beers and just about every seat has a good view of a couple tv. It can be a little loud, but that is part of the fun when your game is on.
(4)Nick L.
Great food, great value, relaxed environment and plenty of space. Lots of food for the price. Have been several times and never had a bad experience. Would definitely recommend.

Deep fried Ribs. Need I say more? Ok fine... So the waitresses are slow. Bartenders usually are too. This is the place to go if your an over 30 single woman in the O'Fallon area. It wasn't too far from my house at the time. Walking distance actually. I came here a few times after work and it always had slow service and the ratio of guys to girls was like 10 to 1. I liked coming here to watch a few minutes of sports and have a beer. The lighting sucks. I have to say you really don't know what someone looks like until your 5 feet from them. Too late. Now you have to say hi. Their deep fried ribs are honestly the highlight of this place. I had never had anything quite like it.
(3)Bruce R.
Great beer selection, 18 on tap & countless in btls. BBQ is great & taste & price too. Plenty of TVs for sports, w/o the sports bar feel. Worth a stop in.
(5)Don D.
Great food and service. This is a great place to spend an evening. The service was excellent and the employees were friendly and professional.
(5)Trisha D.
LOVE this place!!! I love BBQ and it is amazing having such an awesome BBQ joint nearby. The service was amazing and so was the food! If you come here you will not be disappointed!! Great night life too!
(5)Drew T.
The Cons: I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here, but the service is my only real knock on this joint. The ribs could have been a little more fall-off-the-bone, however, were saved by a great selection of sauces (nearly finished off a bottle of the Carolina by myself!). The Pros: Great selection of delicious deep fried, grilled, slow roasted and smoked goodies. Starters like Jambalaya stuffed chicken wings to deep fried ribs. Entrées that will have you leaving your table clutching a doggie bag due to portion size. Sides, which complement each and every delicious bite of slow cooked protein. There's also plenty of beers on draft to wash it all down with and HD TVs to distract you while you wait for your server to stop ignoring you. Overall: Food great, service bad. My advice: Let someone else hire the servers. I'm not saying that you have to hire college grads, but if they don't feel comfortable walking up to a table with two people without a pad of paper, they may not be server material. Keep up the good work on the quality of the food and coming up with innovative, delicious bqq treats and I might be able to ignore the lack of service. Ignore your feedback like your servers do their customers and this trend may change.
(4)Quyen S.
Decent food and ok prices.. A bit loud. Brisket a bit dry, shrimp app oily.. Wish there were more option with chicken. My husband likes to eat here. I always get the choose where we eat so when I gets to choose he likes to come here
(3)Kevin S.
Excellent BBQ. Excellent service from friendly, attractive servers. Excellent beer selection. 14 huge LED HD TV's. Always a good crowd. Fair prices.

Still sitting here at shooters an hour after arriving and ordering with still no food, many empty cups, and having to request my salad a second time. A full hour later. One of my fellow diners ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer. It only took about 15-20 min before those came out...and there was definitely nothing special about them. We joked that they struggled with opening the bag and jar of salsa. At 45 min, the server came out and said there are "just a few" tables ahead of us. This is not a "quick lunch" kind of place and although I understand that it gets busy, it's ridiculous that they don't plan for a big lunch rush. It's like there is only one person cooking and two servers in the entire place. Oh yay, our food is here. Maybe it'll be gourmet. Or then again, maybe it'll just be edible.

Great place to watch a cards game. It gets loud and crazy especially on the weekends. In a place that gets this packed service is going to be a problem. It's in old downtown ofallon so parking is also going to be a challenge. Very "local" place. Get the smoked wings with the dry rub. Unique and good.

Because I love BBQ so much, you would think I would be thrilled to have this place so close to home. Unfortunately, I am not thrilled. When Shooters first opened, their food was really good. But lately quality has really dropped. Don't get me wrong, there is still some decent food on the menu, but overall this place is in decline. My most recent trip I had ribs. They were just plain bad. They were tough, fatty, and tasted weird. The only redeeming quality of this place right now is the atmosphere and the bar. Please improve your food Shooters.

Let me start out that this is a hard review to write. I really wanted to like Shooters, but there were too many little things that just didn't add up. My first trip in here was for lunch the other day. We found a table and waited for a server to come by as I looked at the menu. The menu looked like a typical BBQ place and I decided to play it safe with a pulled pork sandwich. With the sandwiches you get two sides. I opted for the baked bean and the red potato salad. Our food took a little longer than I would have expected given how many people were in the place, but it was not excessive. When my sandwich arrived I was a bit disappointed as it was the fattiest bunch of pulled pork I've ever had. There was also a large chunk of cartilage or something in my sandwich that I unfortunately found while eating. Aside from the amount of fat and the cartilage like substance, the pulled pork was pretty good. Next were the baked beans. Here I was a bit disappointed again. The beans themselves reminded me of Van Camp's Pork and Beans, the sauce was good and there were nice bits of pork in them, but I was expecting a heartier bean. While I enjoyed the red potato salad, the potatoes were undercooked in my opinion. When we were finished and ready to pay, our waitress was MIA. After we found her she gave us our checks but quickly left again. Fast forward another ten minutes or so and we have our bills back after she ran our credit cards. At this time I realized she charged my card against another person in our party's bill. When I was handed my bill, it was correctly done for my meal, without a beverage (I had water) and after my card was ran I had a drink (sweet tea) on my bill. I should have made her correct the error, but at this point being able to get back to work without a further delay was worth more to me and getting the $1.99 off my tab. I don't know why I want to like Shooters, but I do. Normally I would cut my losses and not return, but I will be back and I hope to write an update that is a result of a much better dining experience.

Food is excellent - Portions Big - Great Onion Rings and love the Potato Salad. Service is a bit slow when place is crowded but overall a good meal and a excellent value. I give it a 4.5 stars. Good eats. Also coming soon down the street Peel, can't wait.

We've always enjoyed the awesome vood and service at Shooter's but recently both have taken a hit. The last few times quality of our food wasn't up to par and just as importantly, the service was very bad. Last week, our server took 10 minutes to take our order and the food took 50 minutes to get to us. I could understand it if it was crazy busy, but there were only a dozen or so patrons there. To top it off, the waitress became rude and very defensive when I had the timerity to complain. She looked shocked and quickly said, "well, it isn't MY fault!" This is the 3rd time that we had issues with the food and had to wait nearly an hour for our food so we won't be going ba k for quite a while. Its a pitty sincd it had been a favorite place of ours...

Came here for Sunday Funday football with a few buddies. Admittedly, it was a good 30 minutes away from my place. We spent the whole afternoon and part of the evening sidled up at the bar, throwing back a few drinks and food. I had the barbecue ribs, which were fall of the bone tender, and the spicy sausage. My buddies ate their weight in wings, which they enjoyed. Then again, they're regulars and I was a first timer. Will I be back? Maybe. It's a bit far and out of the way for me, but appreciated the opportunity!
(4)Jennifer M.
Stopped here because of a recommendation from my dad's friend. Seems to be a good place for a sports bar - lots of TVs to watch the action. Ordered the beef brisket sandwich and found it to be much drier and chewier than I like. Shared the ribs and found those to be great. If I come back I'd skippy the brisket and stick with the ribs.
(4)T B.
Can no one make brisket in the midwest? Another restaurant where the brisket is dry, dry, dry, no flavor, tasted like it was just baked in the oven. No smoke flavor and tough!
(1)Anastasia D.
Wow, this place can get packed on a Friday night. We were lucky to find a place to sit. The selection of drinks is standard for the O'Fallon area and the service is more of the same. I cannot for the life of me figure out why this place is so popular.
(3)Shaun M.
What can I say this place is great for everything!! The deep fried ribs are the best thing since sliced bread and if you haven't tried the fried corn and green beans you should. This place is great to just hang out for a drink and watch the game on their many big screens or take the family out for a impressive dinner. I think its hard to mix a bar/restaurant atmosphere together but this place has it down pat that's for sure. I would recommend this place for anyone and I have had about everything on the menu and its all great food but the ribs are hard not to order every time because they are for sure my favorite.
(5)Amy V.
The Carolina wings were awesome! My husband loved his ribs. We tried all the BBQ sauces and it was hard to pick a favorite! The service was very friendly, too.
(5)Ally C.
Neat bar - its in the old hardware store in downtown. Great service - friendly & fast server. Good food. Definitely recommend a cheeseburger or the Pulled Pork Nachos - both delicious! Only complaint....they were out of French fries!! WTF?!?!?!? Server told us that the truck hadn't come in yet with the fries which means they are frozen and not homemade, which is also disappointing. Try it out if you're looking for some good and decently priced bar food or a neat bar to hang out at.

Very nice place. Huge bar with a really good assortment of drinks, beer and wine included. The menu is smaller with a heavy bbq section. I was a bit worried since I've never been to a bbq place in which the serving size matched the price, but I was pleasantly surprised by the portion for the price. The pulled pork is served dry with sauces at the table, and the sandwich was very good sized. The fries were shoestring cut and wonderful. The wife didn't like the green beans, but the sausage sandwich she got was very good. If you're looking for good bbq and Goff prices for it, I would put shooters up near the top on the east side. Better than the chain places by a mile.
(4)Chris B.
I have gone here A LOT since it has opened, but unfortunately I think Shooter is getting complacent with his early success. I find myself sending plates back for being cold and my favorite plate of pulled pork is coming with more and more fat on the plate. The fries used to be crispy, but are now soggy and gross. I would also like to see the beer selections stop changing like the wind. Talk to the customers and carry what is wanted. The servers outside of Sierra are a joke. Slow and absolutely no concern for customer service. I hope Shooter brings it back to what it used to be.
(3)Eric D.
Used to like this place but it has really gone down hill, particularly the service. Most recent visit will likely be our last. Place was only about 1/3rd full and it still took over 30 min to get our food. When it finally arrived, my sandwich was cold and one of our orders was missing the chicken breast. When we told the waitress, she came back with what appeared to be a leftover chicken breast from the previous night that was microwaved--dry, tough and not much flavor. No apologies from anyone for the slow service, cold food or order mix-up and pretty much indifferent attitude from our server. Really hate it when you find a good local place, it gains some popularity and success, and then it takes it all for granted.
(2)Stuart F.
The barbeque was pretty good and they had multiple sauces to choose from.
(3)Denise M.
I can't say the service is always great, but the food is good and the beer is cold. I enjoy the atmosphere, and always have a great time.
(4)Shingo M.
I had the opportunity to have the 6oz pulled pork sandwich (comes in 6oz or 8oz portion), potato salad, and onion rings. The pulled pork sandwich was very well flavored however, it was just a little dry. The potato salad is made with red potatoes which is different, but good. The onion rings were awesome! They seemed hand cut, the batter was seasoned well and it is served with a horseradish which pairs well. I also tried the baked beans which were awesome . they had just enough heat to balance the sweet and savory elements. The burgers are great as well. They had that handmade, rustic look and were full of flavor not to mention perfectly cooked. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the service was not great considering my family and I were the only ones there (went went at 3pm on a Tuesday). I will definitely be going back because the food is really good and prices are fair. It is worth the experience!
(4)Stephan G.
I took my wife out to Shooter's last night after reading so many good reviews here on Yelp. Shooter's is by far, in my opinion, the best BBQ I have ever had before! We started with the medium chicken wings as an appetizer. THE BEST!!! I ordered the half rack of ribs and was simply amazed how delicious they were! Shooter's staff was great and the restaurant was very clean. It was quite busy and loud, but we were expecting that from other reviews. There were families with children dining here and next time we go, we are taking our children with us. The only complaint I have is there was no drink menu available. They have a board above the bar with beers on tap and white and red wines available, however there was an incredibly well stocked cooler with tons of different beer bottles available and unless I was to get up from my table and walk to the bar, I had no idea what all was stocked in the cooler. Shooter's is a "must-go" for BBQ! We will definitely return!
(5)Dennis Y.
Lives up to the well deserved reputation. Really nice break from the chain sports bars. Simple menu but delicious and well prepared. A slice of sports bar Americana in a small town. I visit the area on business and I will come back on my next trip.
(4)Josh L.
My favorite local BBQ on the Illinois side of the river. I play pool league out of here on Monday nights. The Pool table is a great table.
(5)Katie F.
We had a great time at this little sports bar right outside of St. Louis. The food is delicious and very cheap (2 beers and 2 entrees + salads for $25) - great combination of bar and bbq. There appeared to be only 2 waitresses covering the entire busy dining area - but you never would have known with the friendly and prompt service!
(4)Karen R.
(In the effort of full disclosure, I don't eat red meat, so my food review of a BBQ place is a little skewed.) Shooter's is the newest addition to downtown O'Fallon. It is first and foremost a bar, just one that happens to have lunch and dinner. The building is really nice, in a row of historic buildings on First St. They have put a lot of work into it, and it's big, open and clean. There are t.v.'s EVERYWHERE; this is no doubt a sports bar. There is one pool table and a few video sports games (Golden Tee and the like.) I've only been here at lunch time, so I'm not sure of the nighttime crowd. The food is BBQ. The menu is small: various barbecued meats offered at plates or sandwiches, burgers, chicken wings. There are a few apps and salads as well. Everything I've had there has been pretty good, but like I said, I don't eat red meat, so I am not the best judge of barbecue. Their roasted corn side is quite good, with lots of garlic and spices. The staff is very friendly and the prices are VERY reasonable.

Only complaint....they were out of French fries!! WTF?!?!?!? Server told us that the truck hadn't come in yet with the fries which means they are frozen and not homemade, which is also disappointing. Try it out if you're looking for some good and decently priced bar food or a neat bar to hang out at.

Service can be slow sometimes but the food is worth the wait. Anything they sweet smoke is good. Deep fried ribs are a must try. I typically get the brisket with onion rings. Best onion rings I've ever had. Parking can be a problem also.

The barbeque was pretty good and they had multiple sauces to choose from.

I can't say the service is always great, but the food is good and the beer is cold. I enjoy the atmosphere, and always have a great time.

My favorite local BBQ on the Illinois side of the river. I play pool league out of here on Monday nights. The Pool table is a great table.

Lives up to the well deserved reputation. Really nice break from the chain sports bars. Simple menu but delicious and well prepared. A slice of sports bar Americana in a small town. I visit the area on business and I will come back on my next trip.
