Who knew such a place existed? Fresh Mediterranean style food served a variety of ways. You can create your own plate, have it served as a pizza or even as wraps and salads. if you're looking for tasty, healthy and affordable, this is a good place to stop. This location is quite large with plenty of parking outside as it's located in a large strip mall complex. The staff was friendly and the food fresh and tasty. As some food is made to order, you can sit down and they will bring it to your table. So in a way you get the best of both worlds - fresh food without having to stand around and wait for it. grab a drink, have a seat and it will be out shortly. hot and fresh! If you're a fan of Chipoltle, Panera, etc. (i.e. upscale fast food) you will love this place.

My wife had a strong urge to eat some Mediterranean style food, and she decided to go to Roti. Horror of horrors, we did not have any kind of discount card, Groupon, nor anything to ease the pain of paying money! She said that I can shove my complaints up my wazoo and join the everyday people just this one time. OK, I will do it once - but I am not submissive, Mr. Grey! (shady comment) So, we took a drive over to Roti at the "Willow Festival" grouping of stores [it's not exactly a strip mall, nor is it a shopping center] and ordered our meals. I chose a rice plate and added chicken, couscous, hummus, and vegetables. I also got a mixed drink: I mixed diet Coke with regular Coke in their dispensing machine. They had run out of pita bread at the counter when we showed up, but they produced another batch and brought it to us a few minutes later. The offering was OK, but nothing particularly memorable. Everything tasted fine, the counter servers were nice, the portions and presentation were OK, but there was nothing that just popped out to impress me one way or another. Mrs B, who initiated this journey, seemed to enjoy herself much more than I. [I think she enjoyed seeing me squirm for having to pay full price.] The place is clean and well managed; and the restrooms were A-OK. PS: As we left the area, I noticed a window shade store that said they sell 50 different shades.

Roti is always a good, affordable, healthy eat! If you are looking for Mediterranean food in the north suburbs Roti is a good spot to stop by. There's plenty of parking outside as its in a giant strip mall. It's affordable, it's tasty, it's healthy. There's a variety of food combinations you can make, because you create your own plate. You can add meats, vegetables, rice, salads, to any plate. Their hummu is delicious, and the packaging has the calories on it. They have sauces that you can choose from on the side that are delicious. My favorite is the dill sauce, it's so good. You can get extra pita bread that they make in house all day long as they serve them in almost every meal. They have meals for children, flatbread pizza, catering for a party or the office, cookies, and Mediterranean treats. The restaurant is nicely decorated, the bathrooms are clean, the workers are nice. Great little spot in a strip mall for a filling healthy meal!

H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E This place used to be delish when it first opened! Far from authentic Mediterranean food- and today I had a horrible experience! I ordered a plate- rice, 1/2 chicken 1/2 beef and a side of eggplant salad and tomato salad was charged 50 cents for onions- this did include two sauces and a pita so I wasn't too upset- After picking at my plate (everything was either tasteless or overlooked (meat) The only thing I liked was my pita sauce and eggplant Went up again to order a small side of eggplant (when the young lady went to fill my plate I said "less than half will do" went to the register and was charged a whopping 6.50 for a pita and scoop of eggplant ( an entire plate is 7.50) when I asked why it was so much the girl at the register said she could fill up my plate- I explained I had already asked for only a small portion- And then was scoffed at as she swiped my plastic purse! Needless to say I will not return here, unfortunate as I work around the corner!

Awesome food, even better service. They were so pleasant and wanted to make sure we were happy with our meal. Truly impressed with how above and beyond the staff went for us. Will definitely be back. I had the sandwich. Chicken was tender and flavorful. Sauce was yummy and they listened to my instruction regarding quantity. Give it a shot. Very convenient quick lunch place.

Reviews on this place are pretty mixed, but honestly I have no idea why. Totally solid Lebanese food with healthy portions and a good price. Near as I can tell Northbrook doesn't have anything resembling good restaurants, so imagine my joy at finding one in this food desert of a suburb. I had the chicken roti rice plate and mah boo had steak. The spices on the roti were right on. We tried samples of the steak and kebab style chicken as well, and all were delish. The sumac onions, couscous, eggplant and Jerusalem salad were all well spiced and fresh. Staff was awesomely friendly and helpful and really energetic. I chatted up one server and she told me how the food was never day old, always fresh that day and she knew that because she was in charge of all the prep. The place was a clean and comfortable lunch stop. Yeah, kind of a chain-y feel, but so? As long as the food is good I don't give a damn how they decorate the place, and the food was good. As far as I can tell, this place and Mizrahi Grill off Lake Cook are the only places worth eating at in Northbrook.

I visited this Roti location for the very first time last evening. The food was alright. I have tasted the items when they were made better, but there was nothing wrong with the items per say. The staff was very friendly and easy to talk to. My one largest complaint was about hygiene. I always like to wash my hands before a meal. I entered the women's bathroom before my meal and they were out of soap. There was only one sink and one soap dispenser, so there was no available soap for me to wash my hands. I rinsed my hands in warm water. While this may have been sufficient, since I didn't just use the bathroom, I am disgusted to think that employees can not wash their hands before returning to work. Not only is this not sanitary, but it violates health codes. If I hadn't already purchased my food, I probably would have walked out and gone to an establishment where they provide their employees and customers the soap they need to stay sanitary and healthy.
(1)George J.
This place was a huge disappointment. The food was ok at best and very over priced for the quality. My friend and I ordered the same thing yet the prices were different mine was about $2 more absolutely no reason for it. The service was good from most of the employees but the people serving seemed like they were in a hurry and there was no one else in line. There's way too many awesome Mediterranean spots in this city to waste time and money at places like this. Nothing was special about it. Don't waste your time Yelp other places that are truly Mediterranean/middle eastern food spots.
(2)J M.
Great place to go for a quick bite. Very similarly looking and priced to Chipotle. The portions are large for the price. Staff quite helpful.
(5)AJ M.
Pretty much a chipolte style pita inn. There's not that many locations but sure does have a chain feel. Workers were really kind. I love that they have a lot of sides to choose from. Wish I tried a non chicken dish but I didn't want to wait, but the meat is pretty good. The pita was fresh had a different texture but it worked. I also like how they have a lot of sauces, the red pepper one was amazing. Overall tasty food, but nothing stood out, a little too bland.
(3)K T.
I've eaten here about 1/2 a dozen times and actually liked their food especially the meats and the different sides and think they're a little better than Pita Inn. However, the food always seemed to come out lukewarm, aside from the pita bread if you happen to catch it fresh. One time I found hair on my food (definitely not mine) and was so disgusted I never went back.
(1)Brian C.
This location won't let me place a carry out order by phone. So I have to wait for 10 minutes every time I order anything that has salmon in it, when I could've called ahead. So pretty poor customer service is say.
(1)E S.
Went there today. Quality has gone down. The portions are smaller too. The pita is delicious, but the chicken is mediocre, the tomato cucumber is still good, but the olive mix and the eggplant is yuck. I'll stick with naf naf.
(3)Azy P.
I have no idea what possessed me to come here when Pita Inn is such a short drive away. Look, if you're gonna call yourself a "Mediterranean" grill then falafel is one of the things you just have to get right. They came up woefully short. No idea what it was they served me but that was no falafel, no way. And no pita chips for their hummus. Whassup with that? The 2 stars is for the good service and the ok roti chicken. My meal was at least fresh and filing if not satisfying. Certainly not enough to draw me back.
(2)Alan B.
The food is just ok...the meat is pretty dry and tasteless. Everything else seems fine but I'm not in love with their food. People are always nice and fast with my order. I'll still go there once in a while just because I'm in the area but nothing special.
(3)Carole G.
My friend and I had a horrible and tasteless meal last night. Big disappointment! Sure, the portions were huge but we threw most of our dinner away. He had a salad and I a plate that was supposed to have hot chicken and hot rice among other things. Everything on my plate was cold. The chicken dry. Hummus poured on top of the rice. His salad seemed to be unremarkable and just blah.We drank our sodas and felt deceived, hungry and resolved not to return to any of their suburban locations. A waste of time and money.

I am a huge Roti fan so when I was in Northbrook and saw one, I was super excited!! Since this was the first time I was at this location, I decided to get something different than my usual salad with chicken. I got a sandwich with pita bread and chicken. The only bad thing that happened during my visit is that there was no pita ready so I had to wait for 5 minutes or so. No biggie?! My sandwich was unbelievable! So yummy! I got pretty much everything on it. It was great. I also got some cookies which I have never had before. They were good, but I have had better.
(5)Chris M.
The Sultan Sandwich, SAY NO MORE!!! Order it when you go here, it's under the "Favorites" menu. The salads are good too, very fresh ingredients. No qualms about the food whatsoever. A couple errors in ordering and design layout though. 1) (-.98 stars) I can't stand places that you have to repeat your order multiple times, especially at the cashier!!! Label it for the cashier so she doesn't have to ask!! They need to make that system work a bit better. Luckily, my order wasn't very large, but I'm currently building onto my family :-) and that is just plain annoying!!! 2) (-.02 stars) Come on someone back me up on this one from left field........the exit door to this place is SO ODDLY PLACED!! It's in the opposite corner to where you order food and most of the dining area. It's just a little weird guys, I'm not an architect but it just looks out of place.
(4)Jill E.
Food is average. Had some dry falafel that was disappointing.
(3)Paul V.
Great place and great food. I have eaten here 3 times this week. I work in the area. It is close. The atmosphere is great. Makes you feel a little like a fast food more then a grill, but not bad. The staff is great. I have worked in the restaurant business for 5 years and fast food for 2. This is a well trained staff. I mentioned I am going to be a regular, and they told me that if they remember, just ask for the usual. That is service. Everybody makes you feel welcomed. The food is great. I eat a LOT daily. Mostly junk food. This place fills me up. My usual is the Sandwich. If you order everything on it, the textures and variety of flavor is an amazing experience. Catch the Pita and Hummus at the right time, and you have a great, warm, fresh pita with decent hummus. I am definitely going to keep coming back.
(5)Greg R.
Roti fills a great need for me, when I'm craving some food with a Mediterranean slant, and want it pretty quick. My go-to is a steak roti sandwich in a pita pocket. With some hot sauce, cabbage slaw, cheese and olives; it is a great quick lunchtime choice that is a little different from the usual fare. Also, their falafel are some of my favorite around - nice and moist in the middle, with some good flavor packed in.
(4)Allison M.
Of the gamut of places in the style of Chipotle, this is definitely my favorite. You get your choice of rice bowl, salad, or sandwich, and your choice of protein-- chicken, lamb, salmon, or falafel. Then you fill it up with all kinds of salads and sauces (go for the red pepper!), and you've got a filling, flavorful, affordable, fresh, and delicious lunch! I love falafel, and I love it even more when I can surround it with cabbage, hummus, jerusalem salad, eggplant, and all kinds of other roasted and raw vegetables. This is fast food for the modern age-- health-conscious, vegetarian-friendly, and innovative!
(5)Arshad A.
Awesome food! Great service! This is a place I come to quite often. The employees are extremely courteous. The place is kept very clean. I recommend this place
(5)Vedran A.
After seeing many positive reviews I decided to jump in. The result, average Mediterranean food. The meat is descent but not great. I was expecting more here in terms substance and texture but the food was flat. I ordered the kabob salad with everything and it was ok. The steak sandwich pita was a little better but lacked proper bite. This place is definitely a better option than other fast food type places but not by that much. If you go to a real Mediterranean place, you'll never come here again.
(2)Stacey T.
Since I rated this as a first timer I wanted to update now as a MANY-timer!! Still a go-to place for a quick and healthy meal, and I really appreciate the Roti app which gives you points for purchases! I've since tried all of the meat toppings plus the falafel (which i think is very yummy), and you can't really go wrong with any of them. The staff is always very friendly and helpful.
(5)Heidi M.
Really enjoyed my lunch here. It's like the Panera or Chipotle of Middle Eastern food. Quick, easy, affordable, and quite tasty. I really enjoyed the chicken and the side dishes!!
(4)Erica G.
I go here for lunch all the time, the food is amazing! I usually go for the plates, but last time I was there I got the chopped salad and was very happy with my decision
(5)Elizabeth S.
I wish I could take Roti with me to California!!! it was a great way to bring Mediterranean food in an unconventional way. I'm always looking for fast and healthy options during my lunch hour and the options are always limited. Mediterranean food is always served in sit down restaurants and cannot fit in a lunch hour time frame. I was astonished to see that Roti satisfied my love for Mediterranean food. The only minor thing that I would pick at would be about the food would be the rice plate. They put a limit of 3 sides. I wish it could be more than 3. I love all their sides!!! Few tips: 1. Your first check in and every 3 check-ins on Foursquare gets you free falafels! 2. If you come here more than once, download their Roti app to submit receipts to get points for free food and drinks. Super easy to use- just take a picture of your receipt and submit. 3. At the register, you can ask for as many sauce sides as you want. My personal faves are the yogurt sauce and the hot sauce (for all you spicy food lovers out there).
(5)Ania R.
This place used to be good but idk what happened. It seems like the chicken is different and I'm just not a fan anymore.
(2)Christina G.
I came here to grab dinner with a friend after work for the first time this week. The food is good, and I liked that it was Chipotle-style, with an assembly line to make up a quick plate of food. I went with a Mediterranean plate, which is the rice, a meat, 3 sides, and some pita bread. I worried I'd leave hungry, but I was stuffed due to the large portion. The chicken was really tasty and I really liked their cucumber dill sauce too. Really, everything was very tasty, especially the couscous. The only reason I knocked a star off was because of the price. A plate and a drink was over $10. My friend added baklava, and she was into $13ish for her meal. To me, that's a little steep for a quick dinner without a waiter.
(4)Yanyao N.
Sometimes, I don't want to fuss with waiters telling lame jokes ("I see you REALLY didn't like the food" in response to a clean plate, told multiple times over the course of a meal - really?!) and opt for the (mostly) socialization awkwardness free dining experience of quick-serve. Today, J took me to try Roti. I'm totally down with the Chipotle assembly line, so the same thing replaced with Mediterranean flavors works for me. I had the steak roti on flatbread with spicy sauce (of course) and piled on the veggies. Red cabbage slaw (so crunchy and flavorful!), cous cous, tomato and cucumber salad, sumac onions...mmm! I love vegetables so much! These are some truly great options. Spanish egglant, you're on my radar! You can have as few or as many of the free veggies as you want, but being the Roti n00b, I overstuffed my wrap and it literally split apart and I ended up eating quite a bit of my fillings with a fork and making a mess. Lesson learned. Next time, maybe opt for a salad or fewer toppings (or bring a bib). The lemon chicken soup is nice and tangy, but a little too thick for my taste. The only minor issue we had was no one helped us for a while at the check-out register. Eventually, we were spotted by a manager who apologized for the wait and comped our drinks and brought us pitas on the house. A most excellent save!

I'm sorry to report, just ate there earlier tonight and we got sick from something. This was our second time at Roti and we came back because as another poster mentioned, it's basically a Mediterranean version of Chipolte. I enjoyed the different cuisine and the kabob chicken was tasty. Not sure I'll be back. Interestingly, a post by another reviewer Preacher A., summarized our experience both pros and cons spot on. Please refer to his review - well written. I'm bummed because I really wanted to love this place. I'm sticking to Pita Inn.
(2)Pastor Andy G.
2 Words: "Food Poisoned" We won't be returning there again. For those who might not get sick, what to expect: It's basically a Mediterranean version of Chipotle. Same setup with the serving similar atmosphere, just different type of food. Pros: -It's a new experience if you haven't been there before. -A fair amount of selections to choose from -Very kind employees -Menu helps newbies understand how to order -good-tasting food -claims of fresh, hormone-free chicken (same as with Chipotle) -lots of parking Cons: -Not much seating room and unless you pull them together, the tables barely fit 3 people (you'll also have to get rid of the round trays). -We got sick from something -Loud..difficult to hear friends next to or across from you. -crowded seating area
(2)Tricia D.
Service was quick and efficient, but the food was less than impressive. I enjoyed the steak roti on my mediterranean plate. That was the best part of the whole meal; it's just that there wasn't a whole lot of it. Definitely less than a serving of meat. The eggplant was sour and acidic. The hummus was a-ok, but the baba ghanouj was like mealy mush, and the rice was super bland. I also added a large order of falafels to my meal, but it was like fried, starchy, chickpea mush. FYI kids eat free with purchase of adult meals on weekdays. I'll be saving my $12 for a lunch elsewhere next time.
(1)Patrick L.
$7.50 for a single small chicken skewer plate? An Armenian place down the road (Siunik) offers a similar plate but with more chicken and larger sides, all more flavorful at that. Chicken kabobs here at Roti were all white meat, but were dry. One would usually relate all-white chicken meat to dryness, but the Armenian place makes 'em to order, slightly less than well done, keeping them juicy. Roti makes them ahead of time allowing them to sit and dry out. Tomato cucumber salad was very disappointing -- the tomatoes weren't very ripe, they were soft and mushy. Why bother using these low quality tomatoes at all? I would have removed this side from the menu before sacrificing quality. Hummus wasn't bad. Not hard to mess up. Roti rice looked pretty, but didn't have much flavor. Cous cous was cold and meh. Definitely felt overpriced for the amount and quality of food. Pretty facilities and pretty packaging and bags for food, though. Will I return? Probably not.
(1)Mark F.
Don't feel like Mediterranean food is too outside of your tasty food box. Well, maybe it is but I can assure you that it'll be a delicious adventure. In the lunch environment dominated by sandwich places and $8-10 meals, Roti offers up delicious lunch options for only $5. Yup, $5. I didn't fat finger the number. Sure, I've gone the route of the $8-10 Roti meal and I've enjoyed it. But why empty your wallet when you don't have to? Whether it's the wrap or the Sultan plate, I always leave fatter and happier. There are a lot of lunch options in that plaza. But if you get there a hair before the lunch crowd begins to pour in, it'll be an easy-to-enjoy experience. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Give it a go. I bet you'll like it.
(4)Pari P.
Take the customer friendly and efficient format of Chipotle and combine it with the ingredients and spices from Mediterranean cuisine and you have Roti. Think cumin, coriander, kababs, pita, and baba ghannoush and you have the makings of the next big food chain. The format is as simple as one-two-three. Step one: pick the base. Step two: pick the meat. Step three: pick the fillers (i.e. vegetables, sauce, etc.). Although you may not be a fan for this style of food chains, you can't deny that the food is fresh and tastes great. This is the type of healthier food that I can appreciate. I'm no health nut but I try to eat better when I can without sacrificing flavor. At Roti, you have a meal that is filling and full of flavor without the added fat. Did I mention that kids eat free here? Eating fresh and counting calories? Whoa, this doesn't sound like me. Does this mean that I am going to stop eating buffalo wings and Chinese buffets? Probably not but at least I have a new favorite food chain that's different than the usual burger and fries.
(4)Valencia W.
I had never heard of Roti before until I had gone to the Midwest. I was told that I was missing something special and that there aren't that many of them as they are very hard to franchise. I was wondering about this "Roti" place until my colleague said its like a "Mediterranean Chipotle". I heard Chipotle and was sold. When I got there I was a little confused on how the setup went so I was looking at everyone's plate figuring out what was best for me. I originally wanted a salad but then cheated and got a wrap. Absolutely delicious. I got everything including the Feta cheese on the wrap and its making me wonder if they want to bring one close to my house. It would be great - I could actually decide between Roti and Chipotle. I love this place, it would be great if there was one closer to me.
(5)Joyce C.
This place is alright. It's clean, reasonably priced and definitely Chipotle-esque so if you want your food in a hurry, this is a good option. The food is pretty boring- no where near as tasty as a real Mediterranean place but this would work in a pinch. We went on a weeknight and the place was pretty empty. It's large, bright and family friendly. I ordered the salad and my husband ordered the steak wrap. I liked the fact that you can customize with a lot of different vegetarian and meat options. However, both entrees were average and nothing special. We also ordered hummus and it was a little tart (too much lemon) but not bad. I would come back but there are better options in the area.
(3)Dave V.
healthy and pretty good. I had the double chicken kabob, tomato/cucumber salad, rice, mixed green salad, and pita. The chicken itself is lean white meat so its healthy. I thought the chicken and rice was a little dry but i expected that due to them not cooking it in fats and oils. figure about 10 bucks a plate depending how hungry you are. Id go here again.
(4)Marjorie B.
BIG FAN. I met a friend for lunch and I always stop in if I need to pick up lunch. I love the wraps and the salads. The staff is always friendly! The place is always packed!! I highly recommend the Roti Chicken wrap.
(5)Cassie S.
This review makes me so sad. When Roti first opened at Willow Festival, I was thrilled. I loved the downtown locations and was happy for one that was convenient to the non-work parts of my life. Unfortunately, the quality here has gone significantly downhill. The falafal was still delightful, but as for the rest... The Mediterranean plate now comes with rice + 3 sides. The rice is very meh - not much flavor at all. The salads aren't nearly as good as they used to be - it was pretty evident that my salad today featured canned tomatoes. The bread was not at all warm. And mostly the service was just terribly apathetic. I got baba gannoush for one of my sides and mixed greens for another and the guy behind the counter just threw the salad on top of the baba gannoush. Not useful. There aren't a ton of other med options in the area, particularly ones with healthy options. So I'll probably give Roti another chance. Besides which, I really do like the falafal. But I will certainly lower my expectations in the future.
(2)Alex G.
This place rocks, wish they were in Scottsdale where I live. It's like the Mediterranean version of Chipotle -- but even better quality and healthier.
(4)Sarah C.
After scoping out yelp for a quick bite to eat, my husband and I decided on Roti. Mediterranean isn't a typical style of food I enjoy but I was willing to give it a shot. Right away I thought this restaurant was very similar to Chipotle. (I like chipotle, so that's not a bad thing). Quick and easy, my only thought would be I wish they had more appetizers. But regardless, the food was quite tasty. My husband and I both did chicken sandwiches. Mine was roti, roasted chicken, mild sauce, couscous and cucumber salad. It was DELICIOUS. My husband has roti, chicken kabob, medium red pepper sauce, couscous and cucumber salad. He enjoyed that as well. BIGGEST COMPLAINT: open more locations!
(5)Chris W.
This place was a huge 'find'. Looking for a healthy alternative, this place is great. I need you guys in Orlando, FL - NOW!!
(5)Lindsey W.
I've been several times and the food is okay, nothing too memorable. The salmon was good but incredibly overpriced especially for lunch - $10.84 for a salad with one small salmon skewer only. I think the hot bar at whole foods next door would be a better value and better tasting.
(3)alex d.
Yum! Went to Roti during a debate tournament, came back for it the next day. Very good Greek food. I got the chicken gyro both times. I feel like this place is the chipotle of greek food... I really wish they had these in California. The only reason why it loses one star is because it's not truly authentic mediterranean. The meats aren't shanked off a large stake right before serving or anything. but VERY GOOD!
(4)Amanda B.
Americanized Mediterranean in the serving line style of Chipotle! Create (they make it for you) your own pita sandwich! And other stuff! I chose the Venetian Chicken Plate, which offers a sampling of their chicken, baba ganoush, hummus, cucumber salad, and cous cous, as well as one pita pocket. It was a great way to try their variety before attempting to navigate creating my sandwich. I would definitely come back...it was delicious!
(5)Michael W.
This is like Chipotle but Mediterranean. It's not bad its just ok. I liked it but felt like it was too measured in front of your face with open kitchen. I like to see the meat piled up. I also don't like to eat meat from a steam table. I understand that they are busy and don't have time to slice to order but other great spots can make it happen. that's part of the reason I go to places like that. To watch them do what they do. Fresh sliced meat that looks good. Step it up and it will pay off.
(3)Cecil S.
I'm a huge fan of Mediterranean food, and the falafel's that are made here are delicious. I like that they incorporated the Chipotle assembly line, and if there's something you don't know, or need the menu explained, JUST ASK them! And this place is an unbelievable bargain for a nice $5 meal and they keep the restaurant nice and clean. *lose 1 star since a couple years ago, my friends mom choked on their food and vows never to come back :p
(4)Steve S.
Roti is an amazing concept - Mediterranean food, Chipotle Style. What's good about it is that it's Americanized. If I wanted real authentic middle eastern food, I'd go to a real authentic middle eastern place. My favorite is a Steak Roti on flatbread, with hot sauce and tzaziki sauce, loaded up with carmelized onions, eggplant, hummus, feta, and the cucumber/tomato relish. They lose a star for getting rid of a few good ingredients: the original flatbread, asiago cheese, and babaganoush.
(4)Grace K.
As a vegan the food here is okay. The food is pretty bland and the falafels are just okay.
(2)Kelly E.
Not bad for a quick and healthy bite. I love the build your own concept. Keep in mind, this is not authentic, but rather American-Med-Middle Eastern fusion. and it's better than fast food. I built a pita falafal with hummus, mixed greens, slaw, tomato and cucumber salad and couscous. DELISH! Also got a cup of fruit. I was stuffed!!!!!! Love the clean line atmosphere- reminded me of Chipotle. This was a refreshing lunch.
(4)Melissa D.
I really wanted to like this place. I order a combination plate with chicken, rice and salad. The food was very bland. With Middleeastern food, you expect a lot of flavors/spices popping in your mouth. This was just the opposite. The mediterranean rice pilaf I'm accustomed to is buttery with hints of paprika, saffron, onion. I can see how Roti is trying to emulate the Panda Express of Chinese food or the Chipolte of Mexican. Even though Panda and Chilpolte isn't authentic, it still tastes good. The rice in particular was very bland, like it was frozen and warmed up. Naf Naf Grill is a better tasting version of Roti with the same concept. Nothing beats the local joint by my work. The food there is very authentic.

Great food! Awesome staff! Great deal with the kids eat free after 5 pm (I hope they didn't remove this)..... Just a good deal if you eat by yourself. My family and I eat here about once a week. The staff in Northbrook are always friendly. The food is delicious! And I'm pretty sure it's very healthy. We usually get 2 chicken sandwich wraps and two kids meals and it ends up being about $15 for a family of 4.

Love everything here. The pita sandwiches and salads are so good! One of my go to lunch spots!

I don't like it. I usually LOVE Mediterranean food too. To me the food here is a watered down version of the real thing, not enough flavor where it should have it, too much when it shouldn't. I've given it several tries, and been unhappy every time. HOWEVER, my picky, picky I -won't -eat -anything -healthy, I -don't -really- like -THAT- kind- of -food husband devours it. Craves it. Dreams about coming here. To each his own. That's why I give it three stars. Great to some, not so great to others, I think it is a matter of palate. It is reasonably priced, and a better alternative than fast food. Service is very quick, and you can customize what you get. So I give them credit for that.

While I would have given a higher rating- I just can't. They have made the not so smart decision to quit carrying their awesome lemon soup. While I can appreciate the decision to not carry it during the summer, it is doesn't make sense to not have it during the colder months. My husband and I each sent management an email asking them to reconsider. Wouldn't you know it- we each received the exact same email response. A form email?? Really?? Roti- you are not a super chain. We dine frequently at Roti and by frequently I mean 2-3 times a week. The staff knows us well and spends time conversing with us. The news of the soup not returning for the cooler months was met with disappointment. What kind of management does that? Are they asking their staff for input on what the customer is requesting? I have heard the same response time and time again- management doesn't really want to hear what the staff thinks. My response to management is - it's cold out and people would like the option to have soup but since you no longer have that option- see you next summer. PS fix your "free wireless" that you advertise on your front door. It has never worked.

This place has good food at a fairly good value but they need to simplify the menu listings on the wall to make it easier for people to order. Too many dishes are basically identical to others yet have their own spot on the menu making them seem "different." The Mediterranean Plate vs. Rice Bowl is a great example - the only real difference was more rice in the round bowl vs a pita added to the oval plate - silly. It would be much better with a simply columnar choice or follow the Chipotle lead - a plate includes this, a bowl that, a sandwich this, a salad that and then price those four options. Charge an extra dollar or whatever to use a kebab instead of the Roti meats (vertical spit cooked pieces of meat sliced off like a gyros) and be done with it! On to the food review - the Roti beef today was tough and pieces cut too large. Maybe it was the new guy behind the counter that cut it (we went on a Saturday night and he was obviously being trained) but the new toughness of the meat versus what it used to be like when they first opened tells me they are cutting costs and using a different cut of beef than before. Trust me on this - I used to work at the beef council and "know my beef cuts" and something not goo d has changed here.an upgrade for the kebabs and be done with it - simplicity in ordering is always better. The ratatouille-like eggplant cold stew was slightly spicy and flavorful. The rice this time was a dissapointment - again it appears that something changed slightly - it seems the rice was drier and had much less flavor today than in the past. Can't be sure what changed becasue rice should not be the start like the meat shoud be however the lack of flavor is not acceptable. My other "beef" with this place is the weird and ridiculous way they reward their frequent customers - you can't get credit for two entrees on one card but you can split your order and pay for it in separate bills and have two Roti rewards cards. Really annoying and a slap in the face to loyal customers - all that "game" does is piss people off. Also they won't give credit for entrees purchased with a Groupon - silly again. We ended up splitting our purchases into non-entree items on one order and entrees on another in order to get the credit on the entrees. Weird pricing policy. Seeing the price related menu quality changes and weird rules we wonder if this place might be the brainchild of tight-wad accountants that don't know anything about marketing and customer satisfaction!

Nestled amidst the big box stores in a new development near The Glen and Mount Trashmore, the northern suburbs' finest golf experience, Roti is a great way to break up your lunchtime routine of the usual fast casual haunts. Structured like, yes, Chipotle, one will find a large menu board before facing an eager employee manning the assembly line. Options are salads, sandwiches (on lavash or in pita), or plates. The ordering process is a tad confusing but, from what I gather, select steak, chicken, salmon, falafel, or roasted vegetables plus any number of sauces and additional toppings. Pay $8.50. Leave happy and with tons of leftovers. After trying to few different offerings with mixed results, I've finally found my perfect balance of flavors and textures. A steak roti (way more flavorful than the largely oily dark meat chicken) with sweet Spanish eggplant, crunchy cabbage slaw, tangy Sumak onions, hummus, feta, kalamata olives, and delicious red pepper aioli. Eat half now and save half for dinner.

I REALLY wanted to like this restaurant, I really did. I was going to lunch at Potbelly's one afternoon, and decided to try this place instead. Now as soon as I walked in, I already knew how I wanted to start my Yelp review. Before I got my food, I already wanted to give this place 2 thumbs up for its style and atmosphere. The menu options were simple and to the point, a la places like Boston Market or Chipotle. You pick an entree, and you pick the sides. What I loved about the place was it's atmosphere, and a feeling of friendliness from all the staff working there. They were all very friendly and are the reason this place isn't a one star. I ended up getting the falafil plate, with a side of couscous, rice, and vegetables. I sat down and started eating when the sheer disappointment kicked in. The falafil was dry, and even with the tahini sauce was dull and unfortunate. The rice and couscous were very similar in the sense that they were both a lot like re-heated fried rice... it actually took some effort to swallow it.. It was so dry, and the couscous was even a tad crunchy, which was VERY sad. The vegetables were flavorless, I got the carrot/broccoli one (there were, like, 2 others). They tasted old, and covered in an overabundance of oil to compensate for such. Needless to say, I was not impressed, and also had a bit of a stomachache for a few hours afterwards. Which was a true shame, as deep down I really wanted to be able to give this place 4 stars, even 5... Oh well.
(2)Matt R.
Wow, what a unique place. Very mediterranean themed, and worth a trip. Basically, think of if you combined chipotle with pita inn...that's kind of of what this is. The falafal does *NOT* taste like traditional middle eastern falafel at all. it's still good, but I wanted to make that clear. Really, this place is cool, and it's really a good deal actually. The salad customization stuff is a cool thing, and I like it.
(4)David R.
Over the winter, Roti offered employees of my company 25% off lunch every Thursday. I took this opportunity to eat their salads several times. I got it nice and simple, with just cucumber, tomato, and onions atop the greens and meat (usually steak). They are very generous with the meat on the salads. Once I tried their falafel plate, and it seems like a good value at $6.75. You get about eight falafels, some greenery, a pita, and a sauce (take the red pepper, trust me), so it's a relatively light choice. I've recently been informed that Roti's cups are corn plastic. If that's true, it's just a drop in the bucket. CHANGE THE REST OF YOUR WASTEFUL PRACTICES, ROTI.
(3)Deena D.
Definitely the Mediterranean Chipotle! Glad others people thought the same from reading reviews before. Like how this place is fitting for lunch or dinner and is relatively fast. The staff was really friendly and allowed my indecisive self to try many options in their lineup. I fell in love with my falafel sample and had them stuff it in a flatbread wrap with greek salad (cuckes, tomatoes, olive oil), Tzatziki (yogurt/cucumber/dill) sauce and hummus. You can have things in a wrap or plate option. I sampled a roasted red pepper sauce that was pretty awesome too. I like how you can always order a few pieces of falafel on the side too (better than having fries -right?) Outdoor seating is always a plus too :)
(4)Patricia K.
After Roti opened and I had been there a couple times, I sort of stopped going. As you can tell from my last review, I just wasn't overly impressed and thought there were better options for lunch in the area. However, I returned with a coworker recently and found it to be really good. Maybe they worked out the kinks, maybe I'm ordering slightly different off the menu. Either way, I liked it enough to look forward to it as an option again. My boyfriend graciously drove up to Glenview to meet me for lunch today. Thanks Mike! And I thought Roti might be a good choice but I was a bit worried since it was so hit or miss a couple years ago. I'm happy to report that it was again fantastic. I find myself especially enjoying their roasted veggies and the cabbage slaw. The meat is better than I remembered but I did order a veggie roti recently and found that just as satisfying, if not even more. I am also happy to report that after being open for nearly three years, the place is probably just as clean as it was the day they opened. In fact, I had to look at the date of my first review to remember when they opened and was shocked that it has been that long. So kudos to them for keeping the place looking fresh.

We just stumbled upon this place last night as we were in the area at REI. I see some reviews already say its the Chipotle of mediterranean food or Pita Inn meets Chipotle and that's exactly what we were saying last night. Fresh food with great options for meat eaters and vegetarians dished out quickly in a chic yet fast food atmosphere. I ordered a plate and for 7.50 got three falafel, rice, my choice of three sides (for me spicy eggplant, cous cous, and roasted vegetables), and my choice of two sauces (for me hummus and this spicy stuff that cleared my sinuses out). All washed down with a bottle of Peroni beer. My beau ordered a sandwich for 6.50 with steak (which he found a bit tough) and any sides and sauces he wanted on top. (They said no limit. He got feta and tahini.) This place is great. Fast, fresh, tasty food and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
(4)Jason P.
Sometimes it pays to temper your hungry rage and figure out how the orderign process works before walking up to the counter. I walked to the menu spot and started trying to memorize all of the toppings I wanted on my falafel. There were way too many things to memorize so I just started spitting out all of them to the person putting it together before realizing this was a Chipotle like operation where it was more point and shoot. In the rush I think I probably included way too many toppings on my pita. It also did not help that I was eating it in the car. Both of these things could result in an extra star in the next visit.
(3)Lauren F.
Roti is what is it...a quick Mediterranean fix. No, it's not necessarily the most tasty or truly authentic Mediterranean like you could find in the city but it's good and it's fast. Choose from a dish, a pita, or a salad and move on down the line Chipotle style. Choose from chicken, steak, falafel, or vegetable and then pick your sauce, veggies, cous cous, etc. They get 4 stars for fast-food style Mediterranean, not authentic Mediterranean. While the calories can add up if you're not careful, Roti is definitely a healthier option than meatheads across the way.

I've been working in the restaurant business for a while now. So here's my take on the place. I went here for lunch today and sampled the steak sandwich on laffa bread and the chopped chicken sandwich. I must say, I really liked all of the flavors in my food. Well-seasoned with just the right amount of salt to bring out the flavors of the food, but without being overly salty. I can't comment about how authentic it was, since I'm asian, but I did like the flavors a lot. So, I was a bit perplexed by why people only gave this place 3 stars. I think the reason why this place gets only three stars is because: 1. All of the toppings that you put inside the sandwich is a bit confusing Customers want something simple, without making themselves feel stupid. My instincts were when their employee asked me, "What would you like in your sandwich?" was to answer, "I'll have everything" without knowing if these flavors actually tasted good together and me subconsciously trying to get my money's worth. So, for someone who doesn't know anything about Med food, this can be a little intimidating. When I got home, I loved all of the individual flavors, but everything was just a hodge-podge of flavors, it was too much. One bite would have a ton of feta, when the next had a ton of babba gannouj, and the next would be a big bit of beef. SImplify. I think it would be better if they just moved a little away from the whole "customizing" concept since, most people don't know what the best sauces are for chicken, beef or shrimp. Just restrict your customer's choices a little so they can't make the mistake of pairing the wrong ingredients together and let them have a little freedom in choosing the vegetables they put on their sandwiches. I think they'll appreciate it. In other words, simply and don't worry so much about how many crazy flavor permutations you can put on your food. 2. Focus on how they assemble the food. Like i said earlier, I loved the flavors, but one bite was all chesse, the next was all beef, the next all babba gannouj. Assemble the food so that the ingredients are uniformly dispersed throughout the food. It'll taste a lot better. 3. The assembly counter was a clusterf#ck. Really, there we pan lids stew all over the place. The assembly line had sauces that were iced down with sauce bowls and veggies, which I thought was a nice touch, but there wasn't much ice underneath the bowls to make it look nice and "cold" and it wasn't very organized. The sides of the sauce bowls had dried sauce of the sides. The sauce bowls obviously weren't changed regularly. 4. I like the idea of open kitchen, but if you do an open kitchen, the sightlines have to well planned out and also the it has to be spotless. In my opinion the kitchen could've been a little cleaner. If you want to see a clean kitchen, go to Bayless's XoCo in Chicago. It's the cleanest kitchen I've ever seen in my entire life. However, I would go back, because I loved all of the flavors. I just think that customer bad experiences here are a result of not knowing what to order and the price point. Too often, I think customers confuse food quality with quantity. I thought the quality and the flavors were good, just simplify and focus on execution.

I'm a huge Roti fan and this location does not disappoint. If you don't like what you ordered than you're probably not a fan of Mediterranean food. As other reviewers mentioned it's a similar to Chipotle. You choose exactly what you want to be stuffed into your falafil or salad. Their selections are always fresh and the servers are always kind and generous with the portions that they pack into my wrap.
(5)Rafael C.
I can see why Shaun S. said this place is like a Mediterranean Chipotle. From the decor, the ordering process and the dining area, It is set up just like one. I just wish I came out with the same satisfaction I get from a Chipotle. I ordered the falafel plate as I've been on a falafel kick for a while now. Maybe I'm just spoiled with some great falafel joints in the city but I definitely rate Roti's as my worst. It wasn't bad at all rather it was different and just not my fave. They were way less dense and crisp than I like. I will come back though as they had other good options. They aren't too expensive but not cheap either so I'll just make an occasional visit whenever my co-workers choose the place.
(2)diane p.
That's the first time I was here and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised, food was quite tasty and it wasn't expensive, $2 for add on soup... I'll definitely come for lunch once a while
(4)Rick J.
I'm curious what corporate genius makes a decision to remove a soup option just as cold weather arrives? Good food, when they stock it, fantastic staff, environment typical mid priced casual. The missing link is an upper management team which makes corporate decisions putting the customer first. Could be the writers of a book titled "A Success, in Spite of Ourselves". Food is A+ but corporate gets a big fat F for not listening to their customers.
(2)Sylv L.
I came here a couple of times and I tried to like the place since it is "healthy". But honestly, it is WAY to expensive and the food is below average. This is a wannabe Pita Inn. Just head over to Pita Inn, its cheaper and they give you so much more food for your dollar. =)

We were in the burbs - Northbrook/Glenview area I believe and were hungry. We saw this place on a plaza and thought to give them a try....especially since I really enjoy Mediterranean food. The place was not too crowded, but it was already late on a weekday. We opted for their combo plates and the guy behind the counter gave us some samples and recommended some items that were really tasty! We were surprised by the amount of food we got for the price....plus it all tasted good!! This was a happy find and there is one in the city near where I work, so when we are too lazy to cook dinner or I want to some Mediterranean for lunch - this will be a definite stop.
(4)Gerry G.
Adequate fast-food middle eastern. I do like the fact that they have Laffi bread. The place overall was a sty when I visited one night. Indicative of this is the photo I'm uploading showing as of 8PM, the bathroom cleaning sheet indicating that it apparently hadn't been touched all day. The tables weren't cleaned either.
(3)Elena A.
I tried the chicken kebab sandwich with a side of the lemon chicken mediterranean soup. Also: fountain Cherry coke, which is one of the few ways to win me over despite reservations. However, even with the allure of Cherry Coke, the place is a bit pricey for the food, especially when I compare it to the massive amount of food I could get at PIta Inn, for less money. I did like that I could customize my sandwich with whatever I wanted. The service was mixed. I walked in and went to the wrong counter (the place was empty so I walked to the registers instead of the "front") and instead of informing me that I was standing at the wrong end, one of the workers looked at me and asked "Are you ordering?". When I replied "Yes", he just looked at me like I was crazy then walked away. Then another girl came to take my order, and she politely asked me to step down as to start my sandwich. (Which is when I realized I stood at the wrong end) She was very friendly and helpful with my order, so service that was half-polite and half-rude equals a meh in my book. The soup was delicious though.
(3)Michelle M.
This place is fab. Vegetarians, you must hit this place up. It's fast. Cheap and just plain tasty. I always get the falafel sandwich. It's filling without making you feel bad about yourself. And if you order a side of hummus and pita, they give you the entire container of hummus! It's amazing! There are also pizza, plate or salads options. Everything is built by going down the line. It's pretty much the Mediterranean chipotle. I just wish they served french fries. Then i'd be set!
(5)Mike K.
If you like waiting over a half an hour for sub par food, then this is your place! Keep in mind, I waited a half an hour after I ordered online to pick my food up. They said it would be ready at 1215. I arrived at 1210 and there was a line out the door. I knew they got busy for lunch, so that's why I ordered mine and my co-workers food online to pick up. I skipped the line and walked up to the register and she told me it would just be a few minutes, I was early so I didn't think anything of it. I stood there like a jackass until about 1250. I asked the girl at the register at least 5 times to check on my order and she would yell to someone in the kitchen and then tell me they were working on it. I got my food after literally everyone in line was served. It appears that they waited to make my order until after their huge lunch line was served. And the food? It sucked. The cous cous was stuck together in like a huge ball. This place sucks. Go to Pita Inn.
(1)Emily M.
I am a definite fan of Roti. Me and my pal Christy from work go here quite often. I agree that the decor is all over the place and there should be more seating, but overall this place has good food, fast, friendly service. I always get the fallafel sandwich but you have so many options in the way of sauce, cheeses, etc. it seems like a different sandwich every time!
(4)Jessica S.
I can't exactly classify what type of food this is, but it's delicious. Let's get real here people - I'm Jewish. I've been to Israel, I've been to Greece, I know all about Mediterranean food. Roti doesn't duplicate those flavors from abroad but it definitely makes it their own in a delicious and healthy way. I used to work 5 minutes away from here in Lincolnshire where there is hardly anything nearby so we were DEEEELIGHTED when Roti came to town. I was one of their first guests that week they opened their doors and have been a loyal customer ever since. I usually stick with steak, whether it's on a platter or in a sandwich. I put all sorts of flavor into my meals, especially their caramelized onions, very spicy sauce, and hummus (which I think is delicious). But the BEST thing they have there is the falafel - small bites of heaven, not too greasy and full of flavor. My new favorite dish is the summer platter which gives you a little bit of everything and some pita to dip in your hummus and babaganoush. As for your sinful side, the desserts there are out of this world. The cookies, brownies, and "cookie brownies" are to die for. Their sangria is pretty good (I prefer red) and it comes in a pretty big serving. The customer service is outstanding. Matt, the redheaded manager, has been nothing but generous and pleasent to me and my many guests that I bring in. The restaurant and the bathroom are clean, modern, and sunny. You can see the food being made and prepared right in front of you (think Chipotle) and that gives me a reassurance that I'm getting safe and clean food. I'm now a card-carrying member of the Roti rewards club (buy 10 meals, get one free!) and an addict for life.

Fresh Mediterranean Food on the go :) I love their $5 Sultan Plate lunch special with a yummy falafal (one of the best I've had!), rice, tomato and cucumber salad, pita bread, hummus, and chicken/steak. Definitely worth it! I especially love how their chicken is so well seasoned. Everything tastes gOod, but it could be a lil overpriced off the lunch menu. I love Pita Inn just a tad more.. :)
(3)Jill D.
I got the falafel plate - six pieces of smushy falafel, some diced cucumbers/tomatoes, shredded lettuce, choice of sauce (I got hummus and chili paste) and a piece of pita bread. The pita bread was the best part of the dish. The lunch did not fill me up and I am an average eater. Bottom line: do NOT eat here. Potbelly is nearby. It's much tastier, more filling and costs less.
(2)Shaun S.
Think of it as a Mediterranean Chipotle, but with a few more sides like a soup and a few more options other than burrito or taco. If you look at the nutritional info, it's pretty decent stuff, not scarily high in sodium or fat and calories. Food was good lots of choices for extras on the sandwiches. Tempted by the Baklava, but passed knowing it would be a sugar/calorie nightmare. My only real criticism is cost. I just don't expect to spend $20 for two people without waiter service, but perhaps that's the difference between eating here with healthy choices and going to Taco Bell or McD's. We'll definitely go back though.
(3)Christiana S.
There is really a dearth of restaurants in this area, so my co-workers and I were psyched when this place opened up. Is it the most authentic meditteranean food ever? No. But it is delicious, so who cares? My favorite is the chicken roti with roasted red pepper sauce and carmelized onions. Yum! I also like the falafel, though it is a little more moist than what I'm used to. The only downside to this place is the lack of seating. It gets crowded at lunch time, and some people who don't grasp the concept of fast food feel the need to linger over their empty plates. Also, the decor is kind of schizophrenic. (Imagine exposed brick, murano glass light fixtures and paisley all in the same room.) These are obviously minor issues, however, since I now eat here at least once a week. :)
(4)Dave S.
I really enjoy Mediterranean food. Even a bad dish is really not all that bad. I would like to thank my wife for starting this addiction. If it wasn't for her, I may have never tried this very tasty and healthy cuisine. We had to make a few stops up in Northbrook one day and Lara suggested that we go here. She seemed to think that I would enjoy it. She really did build it up and I was starting to get worried abut this place disappointing me. She was absolutely right though as I certainly did enjoy it thoroughly. We walked in and I had to roll my eyes and sigh. This place just screamed fast food. I saw the long counter and I felt my hopes start to fade. I immediately thought of mass produced trays of product sitting under a heat lamp. I tried to not let my prior fast food prejudices get in the way of this meal as I stepped up to the counter to place my order. After studying the menu for a bit, I decided on the Venetian plate. It consisted of fire-grilled chicken or steak (I had the steak), a pita, baba ghannoush, cous-cous, and tomato & cucumber salad. I thought that this would be a very representational plate to order to sample a variety of their fare. As I dug in to my heaping plate of food, all of my doubts were washed away. This stuff was good actually it was very good and now that I think about it, it was extremely good. Everything was fresh, tasty and well prepared. I could not ask for more from this meal. I did have a few complaints. The staff did not seem to be really that friendly and the place had a typical fast-food, not really too comfortable dining area. These little complaints caused this place to lose a star but by no means will it deter me from coming back when I am in the area.
(4)Nery E.
This is a mediterranean fast food chain, food does not taste authentic at all. Better alternative is Pita Inn.
(1)B G.
I have been to 2 different Roti locations including this one. I like the concept of the pick what you want style and the healthy options, but I have found the food to be just so-so. I get the plate and try different ingredients, but I find most of them to be bland in flavor. The cost it a bit higher than similar fast causal restaurants. The food is prepared quickly which is good and the environment is comfortable, just wish the food had better flavors. It's worth checking out if you like Mediterranean food and you want something in the fast casual style.
(2)J T.
Roti offers a relatively simple menu of Mediterranean items that can be put into many combinations... I had a sandwich with chicken on laffa bread with a side of fallafel. The food seemed quite fresh and well prepared. The restaurant itself was clean and new. Everything was well seasoned and tasty. But the fallafel I ordered never appeared after they said they would bring it out. Eventually I had to go back to the counter and remind them I had bought a side. It was brought out without any kind of awareness or apology. Too bad...
(3)Steve P.
This place is like the Chipotle version for Middle Eastern style food, rather than pure Mediterranean. Not all Mediterranean countries are represented on their menu. Besides, this restaurant serves Roti flat bread which is more traditionally an Indian style bread. India is no where near the Mediterranean region last time I checked and I can see past the marketing strategy. I know, who cares? It's a great value, regardless. Generous healthy alternatives for both vegetarians and carnivores. The Free Wi-Fi, refill drink fountain, and self-serve environment is a definite plus. Don't go during peak lunch hours if you don't like waiting in line.
(4)Dean K.
My review is from when they were in Palatine. When they first opened I loved it. The location sucked cause of the parking. Everyone I told about this place loved it as well. But for some reason it became inconsistent and it no longer was a meal destination but if I was in the area. Unless things changed I understand that at least 1 or 2 of the owners previously worked in the Chipotle organization which might explain the comments. Also in reviewing their online menu it is much better than when they first started. It was very confusing and someone that worked there would have to explain it to help move people through the line. Now that I know they are in Northbrook I will be telling people about it.
(3)Cassandra F.
Average meal. My pick is the chopped chicken salad with the mediterranean viniagrette. The other sauces leave something to be desired but a great Chipotle or Panera style quick meal.
(3)William B.
First timer here. Probably my favorite ethnic cuisine, closer in style to Naf Naf than to Pita Inn, of which I am big fans of both. Seemed very fresh and uniquely spiced. A little out of my way, but will definitely go back if I'm in the area.
(4)George H.
Different, Fun & a NICE selection of food you just don't see anywhere! And the food is VERY tasty !! I've had just about everything on the menu and have NOT been disappointed once. The people who work there are REALLY nice as well. I make this place a regular stop, it's that good!
(5)d a.
I was there saturday and was quite impressed with the service, quality of food, and overall experience. It's a refreshing and different take and a nice departure from fast, burgers, pizza, sandwiches you usually get. I thought the ingredients were extremely tasty and fresh. The place was spotless. I had the chicken and it was my first time there and the woman was very patient explaining it all out. If I'm in the neighborhood, I'll definitely make a return visit.
(5)David B.
Thought it could be worth a try. Serving setup similar to Chipolte or Meatheads. $6.50 for a fallafel sandwich? It was fresh, you can load up on lots of fixins like hummous and other stuff. Just can't get a plain sandwich. Side orders were $3.50. Can't say the food was bad - it just seemed that the place was engineered to make the ticket larger. Won't be coming back anytime soon. Pita Inn, though further away has better food. And a better value.
(2)Zack S.
Great concept and very fresh! Good simple option when you don't feel like going out for a long dinner.

I've gone to this location a few times. The restaurant is located in a shopping center, but is not easy to find unless you either stumble on it or know where to look. It's a large place with a somewhat sterile "corporate" vibe to it and has a counter for ordering and a large number of tables. This is a fast-food, self-service restaurant and you order at the counter and then work your way down the line to get your food and pay for it. The cuisine is Middle Eastern/Mediteranean as, perhaps, re-imagined in a "corporate" kitchen somewhere. Portions are decent sized and the pita pocket with grilled chicken is recommended. You order your food at the counter and, at least for sandwiches, you then proceed down the line selecting your sauce, if any, and toppings (including cheese, roasted peppers, hummus, etc.). The food is good, though, I think it compares unfavorably to the Pita Inn. This is a good choice for healthful fast food in the Northbrook area.

Love this place! i usually get the falafel and add whatever I want in it in a pita. You have choices like couscous, yogurt/cucumber sauce, hummus, veggies and others....just however you want it. You may choose to have meat in your pita as well if you don't want the falafel. If you're not the pita type there are salads and kabobs. The orders are being taken by stations like subway or chiptole and it's fast. Try it! You won't regret it.

Its the Chipotle of Mediterranean food. Its super good for a bite if your around town. The first time I went, I had no idea they build anything else in the complex besides pin strips, wholefoods and best buy. But defiantly check it out if you like hummus and Greek food. I had the falafel, SO GOOD!

Are you stuck shopping in the area? Are you in a hurry? If you answered no to any of those questions and are craving middle eastern food, please go to Pita Inn. Your money buys more there.

Do you really like middle eastern food? Then don't come here. If you are not familiar with this cuisine, you might love it. I equate it to the Chipolte of middle eastern food. It was kind of pricey and the staff was overly firendly. I had the Venetian plate with steak. The steak was chewy and unspiced. The fallafel was soggy and gross. The hummus was ok. Baba Ganouch was not smokey, bland, with wierd chunks of egglant. The cous-cous was meh. And the highlight of my meal was the cucumber-tomato salad. I'm not from around here and it was only toward the end of my meal that I realized I was pretty close to Pita Inn and kicked myself in the rear for not going there.

We had the chicken roti ($6.50) and steak kabob ($1 more) sandwiches on whole wheat pita (glad they had that option). I thought the chicken was much better and tastier. The steak kabob was on the rare side which surprised me. You get to choose your toppings (roasted veggies are extra) so we got hummus, baba gannouj, lettuce, feta, olives. Decent, hearty, and fresh.

Delicious! My workplace catered in quite a spread a few months ago and everyone loved it (and they're a tough crowd to please!). My co-workers and I were intrigued and we met at the restaurant for lunch. I loved the variety and that everything can be personalized for a picky girl, like me! I had the chicken pita with a side of falafel. The sandwich was huge and amazingly delish! Yum! The falfel wasn't the best I've had but it was quite tasty. The portion may have been a bit on the small side but as an accompaniment, it was perfect! Everyone in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meals. It was a nice change from your typical salads and sandwiches lunches. I've been comparing it to Chipotle to my other friends because you can pick and choose all of your toppings. Why aren't there more locations in the city????

Went in expecting the worst. Surpassed my expectations, but still, Roti is not Mediterranean/Middle Eastern. 1) no lamb. 2) average hummus, but the falafel is what? Breaded dryness. The menu is complicated. The layout is very Chipotle-like. I recommend their plates - a little smaller than expected, but very good. DO NOT get their kebabs! I recommend whatever they have, Roti-style; this is a much juicier, saucier version of the dry things they call kebabs. Mmm, I liked their cucumber-tomato salad. Their over excessive, confusing selection of sauces was a bit off puting. Steer clear of their baklava - Pita Inn has much better. I would want to come back here, only to try more chicken, but Pita Inn is a yummier, cheaper place.

Concept-great....execution-terrible. The menu looks fantastic and our mouths watered with the thought of checking Roti out. Roti's food was very, very bland and horribly prepared/served. We had a steak roti, chicken roti, side of baba ghanouj, side of falafel and their soup. The steak was very dry and bland, almost burnt. The chicken was mostly dark meat, not sure if there was any white meat and still very dry and bland. The meat wasn't even freshly carved off the sheesh (rotisserie)! You would think a place who's name signifies and highlights the rotiserie would at least carve it off fresh so that the meat is as fresh as possible. Falafel was actualy quite different and tasty, the only high note. The baba ghanouj was almost worse than the meat. Bland and actually sweet! I think they seasoned it with more sugar than salt. Maybe we're just spoiled since we're in Chicago and have places like Noon o Kabob, Reza's, Pita Inn etc. Definitely not going back anytime soon.

I like this place a lot, but I also like Chipotle, so the other reviewers who call Roti the Chipotle of middle eastern food as a way to insult Roti will disagree with me. The sandwiches in whole wheat pita are tasty, they've got a lot of meat and you can pick your toppings, of which there are many. The hummus is pretty tasty, too. It's too far to go here from where I work, so I usually end up there on a Saturday afternoon before I go to Whole Foods (don't ever go to Whole Paycheck when you're hungry...) and it's a relatively heathly, reasonably priced lunch that keeps me full until dinner.

The Chipotle meets Pita Inn comment is 100% accurate. If you want authentic Mediterranean, than there are better places than Roti. A Mediterranean place with Steak instead of Lamb? I thought that was a bit unexpected. If you are nearby a Roti though and want some fresh food, that is relatively good for you and convenient, than Roti is a good place. The menu is a bit confusing though.

This place is delicious! I am vegan, and they are vegan and vegetarian friendly. I love the hummus, falafels, baba ganoush, and veggies and WHOLE WHEAT pitas! The staff is very kind and fast. They give out lots of punch cards and have discounts for students! The restaurant itself is clean and has beautiful decor. Sometimes the menu gets a little boring, and hopefully in the future they will add more options.

Not impressed with the sides, but the meat (especially the beef) here is really really good. I suggest the kabobs. You can buy an extra one for like 2.50 or something like that if you buy the kabob plate. The sides really aren't all that good, but they vary between blah and just OK. The dried Pita chips are nicely spiced. Don't expect authentic here, but not bad for a quick stop while shopping. The menu is a little daunting when first looking it over.

For sure the meditteranean version of Chipolte! I have eaten here several times now and have to say I really like it, its not amazing but pretty good. I had the chicken roti wrap with hummus, cuc/tomato salad and some hot sauce, quite tasty. The hummus is quite good but the cuc/tomato salad was a bit mushy for my taste. I would like to try the Chicken Roti wrap with Tzatiki next time instead of the hummus.

I like the chicken roti pita sandwich. The lemon rice soup is average.

I agree, Pita Inn is better, however, I thought my meal was pretty tasty. I am so glad I wasn't the only one that was reminded of Chipotle! It totally is the Mediterranean version of it... so I"ll bring on the same questions, is Chipotle authentic Mexican? Not even close! Is this the most authentic Mediterranean? No, but it was a good meal. The place was packed on a Friday night and the staff was SUPER helpful and friendly. I liked having the choices of more things to add into my falafel sandwich, and I thought some of the other meals looked good so I do plan on going back.
