Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

i never had such wonderful pizza as lou malnati's. your salads are excellent and very tasteful with your house dressing. i never had a deep dish pizza before until i came to chicago area. lou malnati's has impressed me so much that i tell everyone back in washington how wonderful my experience is.... if they say your pizza will be ready at 530 they mean it will be ready at 530. that is also very impressive to me... also, you are able to send frozen lou malnati's pizza to your friends and family. i can not wait for christmas... instead of turkey i am sending them pizza. yuuuuuuummmmy!!!!

Lou Malnati's has been an institution in my family for years. I've never had the pleasure of dining in at any of their pizzaries, but the quality of what I've taken away has consistently been the best pizza in the area. They really have all you could want in a pizza: -High quality of ingredients -Delicious recipe -Consistent quality The staff are always polite, and they always make a consistent effort to get you in and out in a timely fashion. Perhaps you can get better pizza if you venture into the city. What you get from a small hole in the wall typically tops what you get from a chain (yes, it's technically a chain.) But for what's in the vicinity, Lou Malnati's cannot be beat.

Always a good place. On a Saturday night I called for a pizza for delivery. It was going to take 1 hour. So I opted to go in and pick it up in 35 minutes.
(4)Greg M.
Really not much else to say about this place, except emphasizing the fact that this is indeed some of the best pizza in Chicago. If you highly enjoy a solid deep dish pizza check out this location or any others for that matter. The only downfall to this place is it's strictly for carry out. Not really anywhere inside the place to sit and eat. Not a big deal though, eating food like this is better at home sometimes.

I was reminded tonight of Lou Malnati's, I never reviewed the place! Woops! I rave about the place all of the time to friends and family when we eat "pizza". If I could marry a -place-, I'd marry Lou's, definitely, I love, love, love the sausage pizza and the meatball subs. I ate this place straight for 9 days, if I moved to Chicago, I'd get way fatter than I already am. Also, the delivery driver was always super nice, he was talkative and personable and he'd bring me cokes when I wouldn't order them because he knew I had likely just forgotten to ask for one. What a sweet guy and what terrific food. Mmmm, if i didn't think that the idea of having the pizza frozen and shipped would be gross then I'd do it, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be the same. Man, I'm so hungry for Lou Malnati's now, I wonder if I could talk any friends into roadtripping to Chi with me for the weekend sometime soon.

Great Staff, very helpful and the pizza is amazing!! Oh and the young lady who works there by the name of Ashlee is AWESOME!! She's very sweet! Great Job Lou's!

This place used to be so dang good but it's been somewhat inconsistent lately. We used to get pizza from here since the early 80s and back then it was top notch every single time. Baked perfectly, toppings to the edge of the deep dish crust, lots of sausage, cheese, and sauce. Couldn't beat it. There are times now when there's like 1.5 inches around the crust w/o any toppings and we're like, what? I'm not a big crust guy, I graciously offer it to my wife who is so that doesn't sit right in my book. Still, when you get one that is properly made, it's a dang good pizza. There are a bunch of shops in Chicago who make great pizza and this is one of them.
(4)Jinhee S.
love their sausage deep dish pizzas! just note that this location is only for carryout or delivery.
(4)Skazoo M.
This location has take-out and delivery only. I've done both but usually decide it is worth tipping the driver to get it delivered. Delivery runs about 45-75 minutes on a weekend night and the time they tell you on the phone is pretty accurate. My pizza has always arrived in good shape and nice & hot. Also, like most places, you can pay by credit card when ordering. Malnati's is one of the many contenders who claim to have the best Chicago-style deep dish pizza. As far as a local delivery place goes, they win... best deep dish delivery in the "far north" of Cook County. Best in all of Chicago? Doubtful... If you like meat, I recommend the sausage - the pizza has a bottom layer of crust, a full layer of sausage, a full layer of cheese, and then a full layer of sauce. A medium ($14) is plenty for 3 adults or a family of 4. Oh, and get it "uncut" - the pizza will continue to cook once it is removed from the oven and should be allowed to "rest" uncut, just like a steak. I ordered a thin crust once. Once. Not what they do best - wasn't awful, just wasn't great. I recommend pizza from Barnaby's (on Skokie Blvd) if you want thin crust. For those of you who have eaten at one of their restaurants, you might have a craving for the "Chocolate Chip Pizza" for dessert (as if you'd have room). Unfortunately, I don't think this isn't available at this location.

There is no reason this place shouldn't receive a five star rating. I've been eating here for 23 years, and is the best pizza in Chicago. The fact that I saw some low reviews is a hoax. Those people can go back to jewel and get a tombstone for all I care. The place has been there since 85. They must be doing something right. Have I had a messed up order, yeah. However they fix that with free pizza, no complaints there. Just order a chi classic (easy sausage if it's too much) , well done, and uncut. If you don't like that, stop eating pizza
(5)Seth B.
Was disappointed with this location as the quality did not compare to other Lou's I have been to. The crust was not crispy, the cheese a bit hard, and the tomato sauce was quite bland. The Buffalo Grove location is much better, will go there next time.

Northbrook Lou Malnati's is over and above excellent in customer considerationa nd service. My husband ordered a pizza for pick up, assuming my O'Hare arrival woud be right on time. When I called from the car to say we were a minimum of 20 minutes behind schedule, it was NO PROBLEM. They ended up making us a fresh pizza which was hot and read when we arrived 30 minutes late. A perfect way to end a very imperfect day of travel! Excellent Pizza! We ordered a thin crust. Have thoroughly enjoyed the deep-dish. However love the thin crust for a late nite dinner. Frequently order carryout and have been very pleased with the service and the quality of the food.
(5)Lance R.
this is second only to peaquads for deep dish pizza and probably the best I have tasted in the NorthShore. The consistency of their product is amazing. The taste sublime. I am sure there are many varied ingredients that one might order for their personal choice but none compare to the Deepdish with: pepperoni, onion, garlic, spinach, jalapeño peppers and extra sauce! Having ordered the above combination only then will you have ordered greatness!
(5)Pastor Andy G.
Ordered & paid online, just needed to pick it up. When we arrived for pick-up, the manager came out, embarrassed, and explained that they couldn't find my pizza. So if it's OK, they'll make us a fresh one and refund me the cost. We just have to wait 15-20 minutes for it to be made. So we got a fresh pizza for free. VERY nice. Parking: street (free) or lot in back. Pick-up only. Very good pizza. The people are very friendly. Free sample while we waited.
(5)Bob W.
The pizza is very good but they should offer more toppings ,like chicken. .or shrimp They only offer 1 sandwich option Delivery normally on time
(3)Maggie S.
Very yummy Chicago style deep dish.. Really enjoyed it. My European coworker complained there was not enough meat, but otherwise fantastic :)
(3)Jessica - Angela N.
Absolutely love Lou's! Every location is just about the same service/food. One of the best deep dish pizza joint in Illinois!
(5)Nelson K.
Fantastic. Only takeout, but I usually just bring it back home anyways to eat while watching the game with the family/friends. I recommend the Lou. If you want meat, just add sausages. So good.
(5)Louise M.
Deep dish Chicago pizza.... That is synonymous with yummy in my tummy. I am a pizza lover and I don't really discriminate when it comes to pizza. I love them all. I love New York style, Baltimore style, Neapolitan style, frozen Tombstone style, Minnesota style, Papa John's style that is a style of its own, and of course, Chicago style. For a chain and what people know of Chicago style pizza, I am a Lou's girl. It is pretty hard to beat except by a couple local ones like my Pizza Palace or Burt's. Lou has been the pizza of choice at work for any meeting luncheons, and some family get togethers. They hand made their pizza and you can tell them exactly how you like it. The buttercrust is just so tasty and has a little crumbly effect that's addicting. The whole sausage patty that they put on the Malnati classic is insane and ensure you get some sausage with every bite. Then the layer of cheese under the sauce... Thick and melty and salty... I also love their other signature pizza called the "Lou." It is vegetarian but it is not less tasty compared to the meat kinds. The signature look include melty yellow cheese that is a mixture of Romano, Mozarella, and Cheddar Cheese, top with Roma Tomatoes, spinach, and mushroom on a garlic butter crust. To die for! They have a full service restaurants, and also locations that are just for carry out. This one is carry out only. They're very quick and efficient handling the always busy traffic. Glad I had my fix this visit back to Chi town. It was satisfying and it's pizza like none other.
(4)Sheena A.
Every time I come to chicago I HAVE to get lou malnati and this trip is no different. This time I had a chance to go in and was shocked people came in and out the entire time we waited not to mention the pizza they had out so u can have a taste kudos for that. Because it was so busy they were a little all over the place but that is understandable. I LOVE THEM THOUGH! !!
(5)Rachel S.
Ahhhh, Lou Malnati's....I miss you so much now that we don't live in the area. We're visiting from Pennsylvania and had the amazing, never duplicated deep dish...it is so, so, so phenomenal. We also had the tiramisu, which I had never had before and it was really, really great. Highly recommend...especially if you are trying Chicago deep dish for the first time....Malnati's is the BEST deep dish. Hands down.
(5)Jonny M.
Live love love this pizza. Wish they opened in LA. Every bite brings with it the fond memories and flavors of Chicago with its perfectly textured crust, perfectly seasoned sauce and smooth creamy cheese. By far the best pizza experience a human can have. Yea, I've always been a fan.
(5)Sandie B.
This stuff is my crack. Every time I'm in Chicago I have to have it. Deep dish sausage--nothing better.
(5)Christina F.
Pizza was ready exactly time pick up was given when order was placed. I had a bit of a drive to my destination. Pizza tasted like it just came out of the oven. Nice very friendly staff. I'll be back and recommend to everyone.
(5)Erin K.
LOVE THE PIZZA! Wish they delivered week days for lunch:(:(
(5)Chris M.
Ha, wow I haven't written a review for Lou Malnati's?!?!?! What is WRONG with ME!!!! This is some of the Best Deep Dish Pizza in the World!!!! I LOVE the fresh tomatoes in the sauce... you can taste them in every bite b/c they highlight the sauce by putting it on the TOP of the pizza. I go with the Chicago Classic, which they finally gave a name to one of their most famous pizzas sold (the sausage PATTY Pizza). When you order sausage on your za here, be prepared to have a sausage bite every time. The Chicago Classic also has extra cheese and comes with butter crust....YES, you WANT Butter Crust and another one of my tips is that I always order my pizza WELL DONE from here to ensure no soupy-ness. Also, we LOVE the Lou's Salad as well. Fresh Romaine, I think it's bacon or pancetta, blue cheese mushroom, tomato & black olive. Order it with the SWEET VINAIGRETTE DRESSING it's one of my favorites of all time!!
(5)Ryan D.
Great deep dish pizza. The crust is yummy. The pizza was a bit expensive for what I thought (like $28) but it was good and weighed a ton, so it definitely isn't a skimpy pizza!
(4)kavan s.
My sister loves this place every time she visits. I like dominos more commercialized pizza. I never like the taste of tomatoes like the fresh ones they put on top of the deep dish. But their thin crust is the best here. I like the pizza is just sauce under the cheese and no tomatoes like the deep dish. And its under the cheese not on top like the deep dish. I even got the savings card. Its a lot but it all adds up and eventually you get your 20 back if you go often enough. And they even have pop and salads on the side.
(5)Jay S.
I am from New York, so I am constantly lamenting the lack of New York style pizza in the Chicagoland area. I have tried Chicago style pizza in the past and thought it to be okay. Lou Malnati's is the exception, it is very good. They don't go crazy with the cheese (by deep dish standards) and the sauce is excellent. I like the fact you can buy frozen pizzas to eat whenever you want, they taste great. This is the only deep dish pizza I recommend to others.
(4)Yael S.
Lou Malnati's pizza is just absolutely delicious. As a Chicago native, I know a good pizza from a bad one. And this? This is DEFINITELY a good pizza. The cheese deep dish pizza is so good, as is the spinach deep dish. Salads are also great. For a taste of real Chicago Deep Dish, stop by Lou Malnati's!
(5)Kayo O.
Firstly I should start by saying that I don't like cheese...so pizza is not a choice for me, especially deep dish. My co-workers ordered a for group lunch and I joined in with a grill chicken sandwich. Not the best in the world, but I shouldn't be surprise. We called the day before to place our order in. I originally wanted the lunch special that came with soup and pop, but they were unable to tell the "soup of the day" for the following day. I felt that this was a little weird, but ok. The chicken was way too thick and it wasn't seasoned at all. To be fair, I always get plain sandwiches (no veggies, no condiments). So I truly depend that the meat in my food be seasoned well by its self. Not the case here. Everyone else n my group seemed to love the pizza though. They are beloved by co-workers so I'm sure another try and update is coming up.
(3)Lolia S.
I've been wanting to go here ever since it was featured on Bobby Flay's Throwdown (Lou won but one of the judges was the Bears' mascot and there's no way he wouldn't pick Lou's)...I didn't realize how many locations they had (but it's not surprising given the fame of their pizza). We ordered some pizza for pick-up and for some reason someone decided to get the same toppings on the thick and thin crust pizza (I would never do that): pepperoni, onions, and mushrooms. I never get pepperoni on my pizza (and I'm sure I would have enjoyed the pizza more with different toppings). I didn't see the inside of the location but it looked new/nice from the outside (it's in an affluent neighborhood) on a snowy night. Both the thin crust and thick crust feature Lou's famous buttercrust. The crust is exceptional - very crunchy, sweet but not too sweet. * Thin crust w/ pepperoni, mushrooms, onions: At first I didn't like how the cheese slid right off the pepperoni layer but then it grew on me. I actually preferred the thin crust to the thick crust - the textures were better. The crust stayed crunchy. The pizza was a layer of 50% dough and 50% meat (with not that much cheese). The pepperoni was piled on about 4 slices thick throughout the pizza. * Thick crust w/ pepperoni, mushrooms, onions: The medium size weighed a ton. It's a very dense pizza. About 50% of it was a pile of mozzarella cheese and toppings (mostly cheese) and the other 50% was the crust. It had more tomato sauce than the thin crust. I liked the zesty tomatoes. I wonder how much better it would have been better had we eaten it fresh out of the oven. By the time I tried a slice, the crust was wet and soggy on the bottom and the cheese had formed a dense, chewy layer. This type of pizza is much different from what I'm used to but I understand the appeal of the crust and putting the pepperoni under the cheese makes it seem less greasy (you don't see pools of grease). Sausage fans: I heard the gluten free deep dish pizza features a 100% sausage crust!
(4)Katy S.
The best pizza I ever tasted. Wow! I will be ordering again their veggie pizza.
(5)Jay K.
I'm a big fan of Lou's. No matter which restaurant I get my fix from it's always excellent. This place is take out or delivery only. They had a thin pizza for sampling which was very good. I have never had a thin from Lou's and would consider getting one in the future. Nuff said!
(5)Michelle S.
I MISS Lou's! Living in Denver for just over a year and I'm yet to find a pizza place that will even come close to the delicious taste of this pizza. I'm down to one frozen cheese pizza in my freezer so I'll have to be coming back to restock sometime soon! Now I've been to my fair share of Lou's throughout the city but decided to review this one since it was the first one that I ever went to. You can NOT beat this pizza! The deep dish or the thin crust are both just so damn tasty-I'm really wishing I had one on the way to be delivered to my house right now. I love the sausage, it's a nice slab of it rather than crumbled. Green pepper on the thin crust rocks as well, I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with this place. In fact even the frozen ones are good! I also love their salads, my best friend and I used to have Lou's every Sunday night along with a salad or two and it would be lunch/dinner for the next few days as well. If you've never had Chicago deep dish pizza and are looking for an excellent place to try you should definitely give Lou's a shot. It's very different from other well known places in the city but I think it's the best! Can't wait to get back to Chicago so I can have a nice fresh pizza right out of their oven!
(5)Peter K.
I love Lou Malnati's. Yes, I live in New York now and I've become a convert to the NY style paper-thin crust but there is still a soft spot in my tummy for Lou Malnati's. I remember going to the Lou Malnati's in Lincolnwood when I was in grade school and thinking it was the best pizza ever. I introduced my cousins to it yesterday and they really liked it. Next time, I want to take them to the one in Lincolnwood since I think the experience is better having it there piping hot right out of the oven. The thing I like the most about Lou Malnati's is the crust. I don't know what they put in it but it's so good! While it's pretty cheesy, it doesn't overwhelm you with cheese the way that Giordano's does. The only reason why this isn't a 5 star review is because it's not a sit-down location. Lou Malnati's should open more sit-down locations. It's just not the same bringing it back home vs. eating it there.
(4)Dave V.
Never a bad experience at this location. Pickup only, not dine in. great staff, Becca is awesome!
(4)Brendan M.
Best Chicago style pizza in Chicago. I am ordering right now
(5)Harini P.
There is a reason that this place is known for it's pizza. It is phenomenal! This is not a place where you go to get appetizers. Why ruin the main event for yourself? The Lou is amazing for vegetarians but for those of you who are cadaverous, may I recommend the The Malnati Chicago Classic with pepperoni. I like to add a little more meat to this pizza and it is amazing. Their butter crust is so delicious with a bit of crunch and it holds up to the toppings that are piled on. You can never go wrong with Lou!
(4)Anhers M.
THIS REVIEW IS FOR WWW.TASTESOFCHICAGO.COM. I am very upset at you, Food Network. You made their food look so appetizing that I decided to WASTE 80 bucks on frozen pizza. I'm very disappointed in you; taking advantage of people especially those who are not fortunate enough to live or travel to Chicago any time soon. bad.
(1)Eman S.
Last night, we ordered 10 deep-dish pizzas from here and were excited because we all love Lou's. After waiting the appropriate, forever, for these pizzas (I'm not complaining about that part, but it does take a while for these bad boys to get made) we picked up our order and brought it home. Like UPS says, we should check our boxes before leaving, because they totally messed up the order. There were three of the ten pizzas done incorrectly and one wasn't even ours! They did make up for it by sending someone over with a free pizza, but still, there were three pizzas that weren't what we ordered and that included a cheese because there were people who do not like toppings. The two stars isn't just for that though. For the first time ever, I can say that the pizzas did not taste right. Something about it was off and I can't pinpoint, but they were not normal Lou's. We have leftovers in our fridge and I don't know what to do with them because I know I won't be eating them. Kind of sad, but it happens. By the way, this is not a restaurant, this is ONLY a pickup location.
(2)Vera Lynn W.
This review is for policy, not food. My friend swears by this place. Says its the best pizza ever anywhere. We decided to place an order. We like different things on our pizza, but that's usually no big deal. I wanted pepperoni and mushrooms on my half; my friend wanted sausage and green pepper. The problem? They charge full price for half ingredients. That's ridiculous. Needless to say, we did not end up ordering from here. To me, this is a ridiculous policy and I will not be ordering from here anytime soon. There are a lot of other places that are more accommodating. I would've given it just 1 star, but my friend thinks its delicious. I will never know.
(2)Gerald A.
As a carry-out only location, there is little to review. Is the food good? Yes. Did they get my order correct? Yes. Is it reasonably priced? Yes. This location is only open in the evenings, and during lunch on fri, sat, sun.
(4)Nino S.
what more can you say about lou malnatis???? it is synonymous with chicago deep dish. they are the jordan of pizza in chicago
(5)Chris G.
It's hands down the best pizza in Chicago for deep dish pizza!
(5)Georgie M.
Simply, the best Chicago style pizza, no ifs, ands or buts! When I think of Chicago pizza, I think of Ike Sewell's Uno, and Lou's What was great, is that we use to live near this Lou Malnatis in NBK and could just walk there and pickup our pies. Ugh. I laughed when I recently saw that Food Network star Booby Flay thought he could make a better Chicago pie. Sorry. That's funny! Now, we live in AZ and really miss Lou Malnatis, but we always have a few pies shipped to us around the Holidays. Really the best!
(5)Tony C.
First off i hate the pizza. Maybe it cause i am from CHICAGO and enjoy real pizza. Anwways sometimes the service isn't the best ,but u might get lucky on some nights. I just go there for anything but the pizza.
(2)Gina M.
BEST PIZZA EVER!!!! the sauce is so thick and tomatey and the layer of cheese is amazing....this is making me hungry!!! Suggestions: order your pizza *well done and *uncut...no more soggy crust! AND order the BUTTERcrust....its absolutely delicious. This is my favorite pizza in the whole world...even compared to Italy.
