Georgie V's is a rare breakfast/brunch spot that's more than just a diner option, which is pretty common up in the north burbs. The food is different and really interesting, it goes way beyond bacon and eggs. They have great scrambles, and interesting options like breakfast pita, breakfast quesadillas, and churro french toast. It's a small, inviting environment, and you get your own pot of coffee so you can pour it when you like instead of waiting for wait staff to circulate. The only issue I have is with the owner, a usually-gruff guy who turns his back on you at the host stand, stomps to your table, and flings the menus down before turning and walking away, often without a word. The servers here are great, for the most part, so his constant stormy presence stands out.

George has sold the business to a new owner. It's just not the same experience, looks like most the staff is gone too. :-( Wish he told us so we could say good-bye. George was like a Hawk on top of everything and didn't miss a thing and the previous servers were outstanding. Everyone was always hopping fast and "with it". The new owner seems a bit oblivious and clueless, service is extremely slow (waited 15-20 minutes for someone to greet me at my table at take my order this week) and the food took longer than expected. I think this owner is going to be left wondering where all the business went. This will no longer be my top go-to place anymore, but more of a last resort.

Great 6 egg - white omlette! The veggies I chose were fresh and cooked lightly. The egg whites were a little fluffy for my taste, but cooked beautifully. Spouse's 3 egg omlette was flat (he likes it that way) and delicious. The gluten-free pancakes were tasty for such a thing. Highly recommend this place!

I lived downtown Chicago for many years, but now I live in the Northshore. By far, these are my favorite pankcakes. Any time there is a special occasion for the family or a holiday, this is our restaurant of choice. The wait staff is very friendly and welcoming. They are very family oriented, they are patient with kids, the service is phenomenal, and the pancakes are best around. You will never go wrong here.

This time, we knew what to order. And it was perfect. Well, maybe not the gluten free pancakes, but I blame the gluten free, not the restaurant. Perfect everything.

The churro French toast and Dutch Frittata were both unusual and excellent. Very pleasant surprises!

The Best breakfast place in the area! Immaculate, prompt and friendly service. Absolutely everything is delicious! Best omelettes, waffles, French toast and pancakes around and Real cream for your coffee!

When we got in, we were greeted by a very friendly server. She recommended that we tried to corn beef hash skillet. FYI, the corn beef hash is restaurant home-made, which makes it pretty special. Let me tell you, i was not disappointed at all! It had so much flavor and the food came out really fast! To be honest, 1 order was enough for two people because it comes with pancakes already.. Btw, good and fluffy pancakes. Since we didn't know we were going to be full we had also ordered the churro french toast with ice cream...OMG.. so unhealthy, but so damn good...seriously...where can you find churro french toast??? That's the first time I seen that lol, It went so well with the vanilla ice cream... SO GOOD. I hope i don't get diabetes. Anywho altogether a great experience... Awesome food Attentive and Awesome server Fast service for a busy afternoon

I had the banana bread french toast and my husband had an omelet. Pretty good food and good service. But it is on the expensive side. Good for a special treat

I was a regular to Georgie V's for YEARS until the new owners took over, the place has gone down hill in less than a month. He is VERY rude to the customers and the food quality is not what it use to be. Need to find another breakfast spot in the area, but Georgie V's will NOT be it. I'd be surprised if that place is open in a year with this new owner...so clueless! Think twice before you spend your money here!

Breakfast, Labor Day 2015. We were seated by the new owner, Angelo who was cordial and welcoming. We were served by Donna, a 28 year veteran of the restaurant. She was attentive to every detail, including making a recommendation on the wide range of teas offered. My coffee was fresh, hot and the carafe, always a nice touch. I had the freshly made corned beef hash with poached eggs. Both were perfect. My wife had the Belgium Waffle with sausage links. A tasty and generous size order. We have enjoyed this restaurant for over 15 years, and the new owner appears to have continued the tradition. We'll be back.

This was a pleasant surprise. My wife and i was visiting the Botanical Garden that day, and decided to have breakfast/brunch before going there. It was in a small northbrook plaza close to the garden. They serve the regular brunch food like pancakes, omelets, etc, but we thought it tasted pretty good. Especially their pancake was very rich and filled with flavor. Definitely worth a try.

If I could give this place a ZERO i would have - The owner BTW is not a Georgie but a BIG GEORGE -he is the most insulting... he is the owner of a restaurant and has no customer service. I have been coming here for over 10 years - not always happy but like to support our neighborhood spots. A few times over the years he has been mean to me and also to other customers. Last year I stopped coming for a few months because he would give me a credit for a bad lox plate- I complained that the lox was grainy and George came over to the table and said no it is not - Did you ever hear of an owner not being sympathetic. He charged me for the awful old fish that I did not eat,.Stopped coming for over a year and then decided I would try again , Saturday morning was the last TIME I will ever walk into that neighborhood coffee shop, Again THE OWNER became insulting when we could not wait for a table.I had my young grandchildren with me who were already falling apart because they were hungry- we gave our name they said 15 minutes and we waited 5 until the babies started to cry - we walked over to the hostess and said we were sorry we had to leave - Out of NOWHERE comes BIG GEORGE and told us go leave your table is ready now , so I said great thank you , he then said but YOU CAN NOT HAVE IT GO AND LEAVE . Is he kidding - DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE

Everything is not for everyone. I don't like to be negative and try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but the breakfast that my family had today was horrible. Our sever was not pleasant until I made a comment about her disposition which she immediately attempted to correct but was a little too late. We ordered steak, eggs, bacon, caliente skillet, pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, and hot chocolate; the hot chocolate was the best and I give it 2.5/5. I did not even eat my steak because it was simply horrible; the waitress noticed that we did not eat the food and told the owner but apparently it fell on deaf ears. It was really a bad experience, they even sent an order of strawberry crepes to our table erroneously which the server noticed after about 2 minutes after which she picked it up and took it to the customer that actually ordered it.....MAJOR FAIL!!!

This is a nice little breakfast place and great location. We arrived early and the restaurant was completely empty so we were sat quickly. After exploring the pretty large menu, I decided to settle with the apple raisin oatmeal. My boyfriend ordered the classic egg benedict...he was not even that hungry and ate every bit pretty fast so I assume it was good! My oatmeal was tasty and filling too. I think I would have to try more on their menu but overall it's good nothing extraordinary.

This place is fantastic! I found it through yelp and thought I would give it a try. We have been several times and even though it is always packed, I've never waited more than 10 minutes for a seat. We even went on a Saturday morning and waited just a few minutes. The service is quick and the food comes out fast. The menu has such a wide variety and both things I've had there, I've loved. I had the churro French toast, and it is absolutely amazing. I've also had the Tijuana eggs Benedict. If you like a spicy meal, this is perfect. The owner was incredibly friendly and I enjoyed the experience.

Good breakfast, fast and friendly service. Good for a hearty breakfast. We had eggs , bacon and hash browns. Coffee was good , freshly brewed .

The service was great here. Sat down right away at 1030am on Saturday We ordered the veggie skillet, veggie omelet, berry pancakes and Denver omelette. All were great with great portions. Pancakes are great! Very very delicious. Hash browns are not good.

  • Wei G.

I had veggie egg omelet and Belgium waffle. The portions were huge and the food was delicious. I craved some belgium waffle and this place made it perfect. The veggie omelet was perfect fluffiness and the veggies are fresh. Price is a bit high but you do get a lot of food. So the value is is good.

Closest thing to a real New Jersey diner in the Chicago northern suburbs! We moved here from Jersey a couple years ago and it's been tough to find a few neighborhood places we can just go to and grab a quick bite. This place is just that. It's owned and run by Greeks, (I would guess 95% of all NJ diners are Greek owned) and for whatever reason, they just know how to do it the best. Food is always fast and good, and staff is great. I would say it's a little nicer than jersey diners, and it may not have all the dishes they do back home, but this place is great.

Great breakfast stop. The eggs Benedict was great! The banana nut bread French toast was okay. The only problem was, we had a group of eight and the cashier couldn't split the ticket 3 ways.

  • Gene X.

So this place rocks! I found two breakfast spots in the area on Yelp with similar ratings but Georgie's is far, far superior. I hate being a food snob but this place is miles above, with light, fluffy eggs, well prepared hash browns, and great service to compliment it all. Definitely will come back - the Denver omelette I had here was delicious and just enough cheese in it. I had the pancakes as a side and it was all a ton of food so I was stuffed. Will be coming here as much as I can for breakfast while I am out here for Pinball Expo.

Overall good value. My eggs were not cooked how I ordered them. And pancakes were small. Omlette looked really good.

Really folks, I have been going to this restaurant for 10 years and have been big fan. Today was a whole different story. Ordered the usual veggie egg white omelette with mozzarella cheese. My omelette arrives. Looks beautiful. I take a bite and in addition to the mozzarella there was Feta. I do not like Feta. I asked to return it. Server said there is no Feta in this omelette. He then took it back, brought the same omelette out saying once again there is no Feta in that omelette. Well then I don't like it. The owner came to the table and asked me what is the problem. I explained best I could, and he sad..there was no Feta. Not ONCE did I receive an apology. They were rude, and he was insinuating that I was wrong. I have a message.. Ever hear of customer service and that regardless, the customer is always right????! Never will I go back. I expect to be treated like a guest. If I don't like my food, I deserve an apology. Three different times they came back to the table telling ME the customer, that I was wrong. What restaurant owner tells a customer that they are wrong? Crazy...they lost a loyal customer.

My favorite brunch place in north shore. What more can I say. I used to go to walker brothers, egg harbor etc but this place is the best I have tried in the north surburb area. Loved the skillet dish, churros French toast and basically everything I tried!

  • James B.

Sat down and was immediately told by the waiter that I couldn't have my Starbucks coffee at the table for "insurance reasons". Are you kidding me you cheap idiot? Your coffee sucks and so does your food. Lost my appetite and left. What a dump. My second and last time here bro. See ya.

Great pancakes! This place reminds me of a diner we had back home! It gets packed for breakfast! Great service and atmosphere! The food was amazing! I had the egg sandwich.. It rocked! My husband got pancakes! SO GOOD! I'll have to get a plate of those myself next time! This place rocks! We will return!

My husband and I visited for breakfast one day after church. The location was a little hard to find, but it is in a little strip type mall, hidden slightly in a corridor. The breakfast was great. My husband ordered an omelet and I ordered the regular french toast, which was made with real french bread and had a custard like consistency. Our waitress was SUPER nice and was so accommodating. To our surprise, we got the opportunity to actually meet Georgie. He gave us a free order of their famous cornflake french toast.....it was like eating dessert for breakfast. The restaurant is so wonderful, and worth our hour drive.

  • Richard B.

Seriously nice service and good "diner" breakfast. We enjoyed our Omelet and Fratata. The omelet was huge. The Fratata was not a favorite since it was not the consistency that you would expect. The flavor was good. This little spot obviously attracts locals and regulars. Coffee is served in a table top pot, so none of the silliness of waiting for a refill. We took home a lot of food.

Rick's breakfast pita with chorizo, spinach and mushroom, jalapeno cheese on a wheat pita is what we get every time and it never disappoints!

Georgie V's has the finest quality breakfast menu on the North Shore. They have fresh eggs on Tuesday and Friday. They have a 10 egg white omelette known as Elieen's Omelette and a even bigger 14 egg white omelette known as George's Monster Omelette. They also have very good churro toast and pancakes.

  • Andrew L.

Excellent breakfast menu. First time here. We'd come back if we weren't moving. If you like German pancakes order them first thing when you sit down, they take 45 minutes. A bit noisy, but no foreground music at least.

I was here for lunch exactly 6 weeks ago. I took my mom here after her haircut. she always gets pancakes and I always get an omelette (egg white) when we go to a place where you can get breakfast. We've been here before. The food is always good. Service is quick, even if it's not always with a smile. But it's efficient. Mom got a dutch pancake this time. She had berries on it (raspberries) and powdered sugar. She liked it. Hey, what's not to like? I got my omelette with their wheat pita. It's more like a crisp flat bread, but I like it. The whole thing was easy peasy, which is nice when you are taking an aging mother out for lunch and errands. As I write this, tears are welling up... it was the last lunch out we had together since she passed. I know it's weird to share this info... but you just never know when good times with be the last.

The only thing decent about this restaurant was the service. The waitress was nice and as attentive as possible. The food, however, was atrocious. The eggs were rubbery, the pancakes were hard, the french toast was tough, which was weird, the bacon seemed like it was microwaved, and the hash browns were soft on the outside instead of crunchy like they should be. Also, the orange juice was the real cheap stuff. All in all, a disappointment.

Great breakfast but a little pricey. Ricks pita is a unique signature dish and quality is consistently top shelf. It's a little tough to find but perhaps intentionally for the locals.

Georgie V's has been a staple in my life since childhood. In fact, I remember sitting in one of its booths and eating pancakes on my first day of kindergarten (last millennium)! Georgie V's serves hands down the best brunch food anywhere near the North Shore. Its omelettes have always been the best I've ever had, and its burgers are delicious too. The service is friendly and quick, and Georgie V is always around to make sure his restaurant is running smoothly. My only complaint is the coffee, which is expensive and subpar.

Best omelets ever! That is really all you need to know. They'll cost you between $10-15, but they are outrageously good. There are other menu items, but why bother? My only suggestion for Georgie would be to make better hash browns!!! Overall it's one of the best breakfast spots in Chicago.

I am not a big breakfast person but this was closeby and we were looking for a place to accomodate our large party. Parking is ample... service is okay but the food takes a while to come out (and they messed up on one of our orders so one person waited a while.. that person was me). Their omelettes are indeed huge... big enough for two people. I didn't think it was terribly tasty though... so I wasn't that impressed. I liked their soup the most.. cream of spinach which had pieces of spinach in it. And that was $4 per bowl... so thumbs up on that. The skillet is what I had.. it wasn't what I was expecting. Served in a metal pan instead of a skillet... and when I say metal pan, you definitely don't cook in that pan.. just decorative. The chorizo was good but the eggs were not. They messed up on my side of toast instead of pancakes... so again, service is just meh. Reasonably priced.

This place is one of the best breakfast places around. Love their food, and we come here often. However, their coffee is awful. I enjoy a great cup of coffee with my breakfast, but after I leave I have to go get coffee somewhere else. (one cup costs 2.25$). Wished they would get some better quality coffee!!! Hint hint!

  • michael w.

I CAN NOT believe that I have not reviewed this place yet. This is our absolute favorite place to get breakfast. Don't think, just go, you will NOT be disappointed. Warning: the omelettes are HUGE (meaning that WAY too big for one person) Think football. Everything is good, no losers I have found. What are you waiting for?!

    (5)
  • Mike P.

Solid breakfast joint with big portions. Omelets are 2 inches thick. Skillets come in a small stainless steel bucket. Somehow, none of this is gross. In fact, the food is quite fantastic. Delivered hot and fresh by very friendly servers. A great place for kids, as well. Love coffee? they set you up with your own pot when you order so no waiting, no worries. Sleepy little Northbrook has a real gem on it's hands here.

Anyone who gives this place less than four stars is an asshole. I grew up down the street from Georgie V's, and over the past 10+ years, it has become a staple for my family. The food is great - whether you're in the mood for breakfast or lunch, it's all good. The owner and his family are lovely, and are present in the restaurant all the time. Perhaps the best thing about this place is the consistency. You always know what you're going to get, and it's always great. Sometimes, on a Saturday or Sunday morning, you may have to wait. Oh my. It is a diner, people. And one of the best. Sadly, I live in the city now, so I don't get to frequent Georgie's as much as I'd like, but I always look forward to it when I'm in the burbs.

wow the fluffiest and tastiest french toast i have ever eaten!!!!!!!

  • Blair R.

Confession, I have been to Georgie V's about three times in the past week. It's definitely the best brunch place in the area and I miss it when I am not home. The restaurant does a great job catering to its clientele and has tons and tons of options, including breakfast and lunch. My sisters love the omelets; I love the frittata and omelets scrambled style. It's a diner but not greasy, which makes it even more amazing. And it's consistent. It's always the same and always good.

  • Tricia D.

Meh. For some reason, when I go eat in Northbrook, I have expectations higher than I would in other burbs like say, Niles. So when we hit GV's for brunch, I expected more. The Migas omelette had chorizo, salsa, cheese, and was served atop a tortilla. The chips on top were stale. FAIL. The blueberry waffle was alright, but the accompanying blueberry sauce that it came with was artificial. Service was okay. Skip.

  • Mihir K.

Food was decent but the coffee was like piss! No good for a brunch/breakfast joint. Come on guys, I would be a regular if the coffee was better.

Finally! A nice restaurant in Northbrook. I cannot believe I never found it sooner after living here so long. This is a great little place. Good food, GOOD portions, good pricing. Everytime we go, we bring home enough food for another meal, which I love. Friendly and caring waiters every time we've went. My girlfriend and I try to make it out here at least once a week. The Berry Blast pancakes are just MMMMM!!! They sure blasted it with fruits and berries :D The Sante Fe omelette was very big and very delicious!

Ordered the Sabroso Burrito. I'm pretty sure they subbed green peppers for jalapenos--yuck! And worse, the salsa was awful and clearly jarred or canned. I swear I got fresh salsa here during my last visit a year or two ago. Probably won't return for a long time after this disappointing visit.

  • Thomas T.

The food is good and the decor is clean and comfortable. The prices are on the high side especially for any kind of juice for breakfast - $3.95 for an orange juice. The French Toast is made with French bread and is very good. The sausage patties are more like ground pork chops - quite good, and the service is very good. Overall a good place to stop.

    (4)
  • Gerald A.

Service is acceptable, food is acceptable, prices are a bit high for what you get. Breakfast for two should be in the range of $13-18 plus tip, not the $22 plus tip that you get here. I usually favor local eateries to chains, but I'd like an IHOP to open in the vacant storefront across the street from them, so that they have to compete.

    (2)
  • Daniel L.

Enjoyed this place. Food seemed slow to arrive, but not exuberantly. My breakfast burrito was huge, not too cheesy with a good balance of all veggies and meat. My wife's gluten free banana pancakes (which I tasted) were some of the best, we've tried anywhere and almost could not be identified as gluten free. My wife is able to accept light sickness from cross handled food, but her pancakes did not make her slightly sick which means they must have been careful about cross-contamination.

There is nothing fantastic about this place. It's bigger and cleaner than I expected it to be upon walking in, but that is really unfortunately the only compliment I can give to Georgie V's. After getting the menu, we notice that though the selection is a little larger than standard, the prices here are also higher for a typical diner. I ordered the 2x2x2 which is basically 2 eggs, 2 bacon or sausage and 2 pancakes under the "egg" section and that cost about $7, without hashbrowns, fruit or toast. The bacon was thin and the pancakes were gross tasting. They had this like fake vanilla taste or something in the batter- I was not a fan. My husband ordered the breakfast wrap, and he liked it even though it was close to $10 just for the wrap and a sad little fruit cup, again with no hashbrowns or toast. We also ordered the coffee and it was pretty tasteless. I mean, really, one of the worst cups of coffee I had in a long time. Sad to say , but the coffee in the vending machine in the hospital that I had a couple months back was tastier than this, which is ridiculous for a diner. This place is pretty average, but there is no reason to come out here unless you are in the area and are in the mood for just a regular breakfast.

Georgie V's is a wonderful place to go if you're feeling omeletty. They make the perfect omelettes- generous with portions and the meat/veggies that give omelets their wonderful flavor. The Eileen was... just way too much. After coveting it on the menu for a long time, my friend and I tried it together. What a disappointment! It said "featured on ABC." Well, ABC- it may be all white and full of veggies but the taste is ... lacking. I'd go with the California. I give the other omelets 5 starzz. The owner is pretty friendly, the coffee is really good, nice cozy atmosphere. Overall, a 4.5 star experience.

In a strip mall by Sunset Foods. If you are facing Sunset Foods, it's on the right side behind the brick wall. It's hard to locate from the street, while you are driving if you've never been here before... Came by on a Thursday early afternoon for brunch. We waited for about 5-10mins before getting seated. I'm a big French Toast person.... but the French Toast that I ordered was "just ok" ...really... the bread was a bit flat and it lacked a little something... Omelet was pretty decent. As I've read in the other reviews, the omelets were huge! We did have left overs... Service was also "just ok"... the server did bring me things that I asked for eventually... I may come back again if I have to be in the area, since a good brunch place is hard to find around this neck of the woods...If I'm back again, I may want to try a different omelet and perhaps their waffles?

We had breakfast at this place before heading back home. This place was pretty busy when we arrived but we got seated within minutes. They had quite a bit on there menu for breakfast like German pancakes & danish pancakes.I got the bacon & cheese omelet and it was real good. This thing was loaded with cheese & bacon and they did not skimp on it. My dad got the German pancake which was gigantic and tasted great also. The coffee was good and they came around often for refills. The prices were a little higher than some places but they served a great breakfast.

My coworkers and I like to play the "Whose meal looks the best?" game when we come here for lunch. We always have the hardest time deciding what to get because everything always looks so good. They apparently have this really huge, egg white omelette that everyone raves about. Our personal favorite is the chicken salad plate. It comes with a TON of fruit. I mean, a huge pile of fresh fruit - peaches, strawberries, pineapple, kiwi. The chicken salad as walnuts, apple pieces, with mayo...It's sooo good. For their carb fill, my coworkers always order it with two pieces of toast. I've also gotten the breakfast wrap with chorizo...delish. We always come with a big group and we've NEVER had to wait for a table. That's pretty impressive for downtown Northbrook during lunch time. Also, they never give us grief when we want to split the bill 6 ways. Awesome. We love this place!

Stay Away!!! I ordered a jalapano omelette and got a green pepper instead. When I complained to the owner he instited that the peppers were jalapanos and would not take it back. Thanks to YELP for the forum to rat this guy out. No I won't go back and try it again.

I have never experienced a blatant form of racism in my life until today! We arrived at Georgie V's restaurant and requested a table for two. The ambience was nice and the crowd was energetic but I wish I could give a more positive review about the food, however we never even got a chance to be seated to enjoy a meal. The hostess completely ignored us and sat people who came in after us to a table. When we asked why others who just arrived were seated before us, the hostess response was that we both had to be present in order to be seated. Really were we invisible. My husbands response was "if that is the case why did you seat a man while his wife was parking the car and not present.? The hostess informed us that there are other tables we can wait for and the next available table she would give to us. She failed to acknowledge that she completely ignored our presence and sat two parties who came in after us based on the fact that we were the only minorities in the restaurant. I would NEVER go there again no matter how good people claim it is. Mi recommend you take a lesson on diversity

Great option for a no frills diner style brunch if you're in the suburbs. Pros: strip mall parking, friendly service, selection of brunch items Cons: not super imaginative entree options, average hash browns, no coffee drinks Got there early 1045, so didn't have a wait. Crowded by the time we left. Decent brunch spot but not worth making a special trip especially if you live in the city. I went with the eileen omelette, which was huge. Bring your appetite. They don't skimp on portion sizes here!

Since moving to Northbrook, Georgie V's has become a routine part of our weekend. The food is always delicious. I have yet to try a menu item I did not like (try the new skillets). Perhaps the service isn't as efficient as it could be, but we also don't dine there for a McDonald's-like experience. We choose Georgie V's for the quality food and the personal service that make small, locally-owned restaurants so wonderful. Recently, my daughter and I were part of a Girl Scout cookie sale in front of Georgie V's. Georgie and several members of the staff came outside to greet us, encourage us and move our table into the sun where it was warmer. You aren't going to find neighborly commitment like that from Walker Brothers.

Great diner food at a great diner price. The veggie frittata was tasty. The service was a bit slow but that's to be expected I guess...

Overpriced, but only walkable breakfast place in downtown North brook. Excellent wait staff, assuming they noticed that you got sat.

Awesome breakfast/brunch place!!!!!!!!! If you haven't been here and you live in Northbrook or close to it, you're missing out. The food could be considered to be a bit pricey for breakfast food, but it's the best. I've heard a lot of people say you can't really mess up breakfast, and while I agree, you can certainly make it memorable by having classics on the menu but also adding some interesting twists to it, which Georgie's has definitely done. The omelette's are huge and awesome. They have a couple that are served with a tortilla and stuffed with various Mexican ingredients. They also have portabello mushroom cups stuffed with an omelet mixture of goodness that includes veggies and cheese. YUM! The breakfast burrito is a big winner for me as well. The best thing there......the corned beef hash, You have to get it. Always crispy on the outside and hot and moist on the inside. Always full of flavor. You can get it as a side or as a breakfast w/ eggs. DO NOT PASS UP THE HASH! Great service, cozy suburban environment. Thanks Georgie V's. I hope you are around for quite a while.

My husband and I (and a small crowd) waited 10-15 minutes to be shown to a table. I understand that there were people waiting to pay their bills but come on! Get another body up front to seat people while you work register. It's not like they were jam packed with people. Another patron noitced at least five empty tables...I counted eight. Surely a server could have seated us, and three or four other parties during that time. My husband is refusing to go back after this display of mismanagement. The coffee was pretty good this time. Pancakes a little gummy but tasty. Corned beef hash looked sad-like it was fried up earier in the morning and thrown back into the oven to crisp up...but it was good, just not enough.

The food was fantastic. The only thing keeping this from a five was their inability to make adjustments to certain combinations. A member of my party wanted potato pancakes versus hashbrowns. It was otherwise wonderful. I had the Blue Cheese and artichoke omlett. It was delicious as were the side of pancakes. Yes, they were small, but yes, they were a side item. The food and service was quick, but fresh, and the cost was certainly reasonable.

Fresh ingredients, best omelette on the northshore, baked to perfection, fresh fruit is not great. George is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Cares about his customers, always a winner

Wow this place may give Egg Harbor a run for it's money! Great food, service, and prices! I definitely recommend the Portabello mushroom cap omelette concoction - with andouille sausage it has a great spicy flavor. Huge portions and I don't know how they make the food not greasy. This has been one of the few breakfast joints where my potatoes are light and crispy and not swimming in a sea of oil. Will definitely be back again!

I love a good, simple breakfast place, and this one does not disappoint. And from the crowds I've seen on weekends, I'm not the only one who enjoys the food here. I generally stick to breakfast items like omelettes (I'm boring and order the ham & cheese) and pancakes, but you can also order lunch here. Not much else to say... but if you're in Northbrook for whatever reason, check this place out.

This is not a review based on the food so much as it is based on the service we experienced. My parents have been loyal customers since the opening of the restaurant, and they know Georgie V. quite well. On a recent visit, my wife asked for a glass of hot water, as she does at pretty much every establishment. We were told by the waitress that there would be a $2.50 charge for it. When asked why, we were told that everything costs Georgie V., the electricity to heat the water and the person who cleans the cup. Does this mean we should also pay for the toilet paper and the seats (don't they cost money too). We argued with Georgie to no avail. He attempted to explain how people bring their own tea bags, or use the free lemon and sugar to make their own hot-lemonade. Well, that's their issue...this man knows we're not asking for anything more than a cup of hot water to drink. Living in California, where the water is LESS plentiful and more expensive, we have yet to be charged for a cup (hot or cold).

I kind of call this place my mom's and my little secret. We come here for brunch every now and then, and the food is FANTASTIC. They've got everything from omelettes, pancakes, wraps, sandwiches, and burgers. There are a lotta delicious "healthy" options too, which is what I usually go for. The service is great, and the owners are friendly! It is a cute and bright place! It has that beach-house feel. Be prepared for a small wait right around lunchtime.

First thing I need on a Saturday or Sunday morning is coffee, and at Georgie V's they bring you your very own pot of Kona coffee almost as soon as you are seated. Ahhhh.... never cold, never scalding, never weak, never burnt, never bitter. Service is prompt and efficient by a professional waitstaff - and they work hard, so tip them 20% you deadbeat! The breakfast menu has a good offering of basics (including a tasty eggs benedict), crepes, and giant pancake creations, but I think their omelettes are the biggest draw. There are probably about 20 different varieties - sometimes I'm in the mood for the Migas (with tortilla chips and chorizo) or their Greek Kayana (tomato, onion & feta). With one exception, I have been very, very pleased with everything I have ordered - the one exception was an omelette with avocado... heat from the cooking turned the avocado from creamy to bitter. On the weekend, expect to wait... especially if you show up between 11 and noon on Sunday. Typical weekend wait times are around 15-20 minutes and I've never had to wait over 40 minutes. If you have a large party (6 or more) call ahead.

Georgie V's owner, Georgie V, is a great guy, willing to share his paper or soduku with you if the restaurant has run out. The place has a varied menu with breakfast and lunch dishes, not really brunch. Good and varied omelets, stuffed french toast, mexican churro toast with cinnamon and fried bananas, ground sirloin burgers, interesting salads and sandwhiches, and my favorite, a Shrimp Club on Whole Wheat with garlic mayonnaise, and fries on the side; get some extra mayonnaise for dipping (I dip the sandwhich and the fries, very healthy). Good Coffee. Warning-really noisy with screaming North Shore kids common on weekends.

Very nice breakfast. Omlette was tasty. Pancakes verry small but also tasty. It was a bit pricy! A Northbrook thing. About 20% higher than it should be! Coffee is worth the trip.

The best omelettes I've tasted. If you want to be healthy have the Eileen's special. The portabello mushroom with sausage omelette was incredible. This is one of those secret places I would keep to myself but I feel I need to share, because it's so good.

Very good pancakes, high quality omelettes & excellent personal service. A must try.. at par with walker bros. Though not a chain, which makes that little difference.

Top quality ingredients are what this place is all about. Mainly breakfast but they also have lunch menu. Apple pancake, churro toast, and huevos mexicanos are my favs. The owner, George, is a great guy. Service is great. Worst part is trying to get a table when they are busy on the weekends.

A very good breakfast place. I enjoy the fluffy egg white omelets and the hash brown potatoes that go with them. There are is a vast selection of breakfast items (pancakes, omelets, egg dishes, and waffles). The service is fast and efficient. If you don't want to wait on a weekend day, its probably best to get there before 11 AM.

My parents discovered Georgie V's a couple years ago, and have been going ever since. I love their pancakes and they always listen to how you want your food cooked. My mom often gets their veggie frittata and my dad gets this 4 waffle sampler with different toppings. George the owner is so kind and friendly-he even offered my parents travel tips before they went to Greece. We love it here!

i really love this place for breakfast AND lunch, which is hard to find. i'm not big on the pancakes, waffles, french toast kind of breakfast, so i usually go for their omelettes if it's before noon. they're huge so you can take half home and i really like that they offer a choice of fruit or hash browns. my favorite lunch item is their Tuscan salad that has lots of green and kalamata olives, shredded mozzarella cheese, and artichokes with toasted pitas around the sides...add a scoop of tune and use a little bit of the tomato balsamic vinaigrette and you're set!
