This place is great. Everything is good. It hidden strip mall... But worth finding it.

This place is a hidden gem tucked away in a very easy to miss strip mall off Butterfield in North Aurora. In fact the only reason I found it was because I was daydreaming and missed my turn on to Kirk. I'm very happy I did stumble across Tecalitlan though, they have very good Mexican food and the menu has a lot of interesting, authentic choices. I recommend one of the guisado's (spicy stewed beef or pork) or the house special birria (tender and flavorful goat). The tacos are great too, they're really generous with the meat and the sauces and tasty. The staff is very friendly too and it seems to be family owned and operated.

We got lost looking for a different Yelp recommendation, and pulled into this parking lot to turn around. "Screw it," we said, "let's just eat here." I'm glad we did. The staff was supremely friendly and welcoming, service was attentive but not overbearing, and (most importantly) the food was excellent. I had the combination with a taco, tostada, and chile relleno and the wife had steak tacos. It was thumbs up all around. The pico de gallo was a real treat, too. Next time, we are totally gonna eat at this place on purpose.

My neighbor and another friend had been telling me about this place in a strip mall a mile or so away. I had seen it and thought it was take out only, but they do have seating. We go out for Mexican about once a week and pretty much have stopped going anywhere else. This is really authentic and based on the family recipes of the owner. Some of the waitstaff are granddaughters and as friendly as they come. We like the chips and salsa, but my wife likes her sauces mild, so they bring out a red sauce that she loves. I like a little more of a kick and they have a couple of creamy green sauces with a lot of flavor and character, including one made from pureed jalapeno! Add a small side of guacamole for less than a buck! The tacos are a great lunch for us. 2 tacos each and a bottle of Coca Cola de Mexico costs less $10. Dinner selections are plentiful and affordable. Try the carne asada and you can't go wrong with the burrito. It has a lunch counter atmosphere and limited bar. Authentic, affordable and muy bueno!

Simple and delicious.. Great tacos and even better pico. The kids loved their food and kept talking about how much they wanted to go back. Highly recommend it if your looking for a quick easy bite. And don't worry good beer selection and a great margarita!

Small quaint, but great food. The Pico de gailo they give with chips are excellent. I've been here several times and the great service and food are consistent and reasonably priced. Give them a try!

Very friendly atmosphere with some very yummy food! $8 for a huge platter of 3 tacos with rice and beans. They have a $3.50 kids menu too which is so refreshing. It's a great value and kind of an untapped neighborhood gem. Glad to find a North Aurora eatery worth returning to.

Decent Mexican food, a bit more authentic than some of the places we have visited in the area. Price is average. Nice size menu, would love if they had a menu posted online. I was kinda irked that I had to venture there one night to get a menu to order but now we have one for the future. Only had goat on the weekends, would have liked to have tried when I was there. I think the address is slightly off, my menu lists in at 200 Butterfield, but close enough.

Small, quaint place that has delicious Mexican food! The menu is pretty basic but so far we haven't had a bad meal. The guacamole is so fresh and tasty. I had the shrimp al a diablo last night and was blown away! The shrimp were huge and the sauce had a lot of flavor followed by a great spicy heat level. The staff is always friendly, and the decor is minimal, but the food...Oh the food!! We are glad they opened, since we are nearby down the street. Don't listen to the haters, Fair prices and fresh, great tasting food which comes quickly! Give it a try.

This business takes the place of Bonito Mexico, RIP. At first I was skeptical because I liked BM so much, but Tecalitlan has proven herself. I usually order the Burrito Ranchero Carne Asada. This is probably one of the least authentic items on the menu but it is powerfully addictive. It is a steak burrito packed full of all the standard ingredients but then it is smothered in ranchero sauce and cheese. It is big enough for two meals but so hard to resist eating the whole thing. They offer plenty of more authentic food too. I was pleased to see that like BM, they have Tacos Arabe. They also have a birreria stew. And the mom, who is usually cooking, makes her own corn tortillas. Note: This is their second location. The first restaurant is in downtown Aurora.

I originally tried this restaurant because of their participation in the Restaurant.com program, but this is the one place that has kept me coming back. Everything, from the homemade tortillas to the homemade flan, is amazing. Now I will say that my wife and I are vegetarian so we can't comment on the quality of the meat, but what we have eaten we love. I am so glad that we have access to such a great Mexican restaurant.

So delicious! I had the Birria and it was prepared in the Jalisco style and was quite tasty. Great service and good variety. I will be going back and would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic and well prepared Mexican food.
