We had some time to kill in Normal so we stopped into Maggie Milleys for some lunch. The atmosphere is standard Irish pub, with lots of taps, beer mirrors, wood, etc. It wasn't very busy on a Saturday summer afternoon, I imagine it gets busier when university is in session. We shared sweet potato chips which were tasty and perfectly cooked. My fish and chips was outstanding. The fish had a thick crispy batter and you could smell and taste the Guinness. Huge portion, very nice piece of fish. My wife had a grilled cheese sandwich with spinach and tomato - it had a specific name. That was also very good, tangy Irish cheddar cheese. Fries were fresh and seemed homemade. Service was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely stop in again when coming through Normal.

If you are in uptown, want drinks, and want food, Maggie's is your place. They have a full bar, an excellent wait staff, and a fun atmosphere. But, after 9 this changes. It turns into an obnoxious college bar with bad customer service. Prior to their Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde switch, I highly recommend this places shepherd's pie and Long Ireland.

Maggie's is a great, local, Irish pub serving a great mix of townies and students. Post 9pm it is a pretty solid student bar, but everyone, old and young (and kids!) alike goes before, just like a real Irish pub. They do a lot to get it authentic - after spending a month in Ireland last year I was surprised by how much on the menu is legitimately Irish pub fare, done really well. The one thing that it gets completely wrong (maybe on purpose) is the hostess situation - no matter if you are going to for a drink at the bar, or a full meal, you need to be seated by the hostess. They practically serve as bouncers/gatekeepers, something that I loathe as you don't feel welcome to linger as you would at an Irish pub. Recommended: The potato leek soup (seriously the best I've ever had), the fish and chips, and the boxty (potato pancake) appetizer. The salads are surprisingly generous and good.

I liked the atmosphere, I was here for game 1 of the Stanley Cup, my waitress was great as was the beer. Unfortunately, I can't say that for my food, I ordered fish and chips, they were burnt, so bad, that I couldn't douse them enough with malt vinegar. I will go back at some point to try again.

When I stay at the Marriott nearby for business trips, you'll often find me here a night or two. During the week they have great drink specials with beer deals on Monday, well special on Tuesday, and whiskey specials on Wednesdays. I've eaten here a few times and the one standout dish was the duck tender salad. I've never had anything like that before and it was really tasty. The bartenders are a bit of a crapshoot in regards to friendliness and attentiveness, but I haven't had any really terrible experiences. Decor is pretty traditional for an irish pub, but definitely nicer than most of the college bars in the area. Being so close to ISU, expect lots of college kids, but you'll also get random local folks and groups of business travelers too.

To be honest, there are only a few menu items I like. I think most times, the meat is well over cooked. The veggies are some times cold. The potatoes are not very consistent with texture or taste. The fish and chips, the corned beef and cabbage and the stew are safe bets. The portion of stew leaves you hungry for more. The wait staff often seem thin on any night and you might have to yell to get a drink. However, they have a great selection of beer on tap. They have some personable people and the prices on drinks are not outrageous. I would just be careful with what you order. Enjoy a woodchuck hard cider while there.

This is a quite decent Irish Pub. We had the potato soup, which was really rich and good and the turkey sandwich, also a tasty dish. The portion size is exactly how you want it to be - not too big and not too small - just filling. The waiter serving us was fun and took very good care of us. Good place for a casual lunch or if you are in the mood for good pub food and a pint. The service from the servers is usually good. They seem to have some trouble figuring out how to get it together at the hostess stand though. If you have a party of two some of the seating choices can be a bit awkward. There are a couple of cozy semi-walled seating areas for a party of two, but there are two of those tables right next to each other so you are also cozied up right next to another couple. I highly recommend a pint of Guinness and the Shepherd's Pie.

Irish pub food at its best? Hmmmm, I am definitely into Irish food. Had the Sheppard's pie, and decided to try the Curry slathered fries. Hmm how Irish? We had a party of four and since our company was reimbursing us we had to get separate bills. Not even a hesitation! They said "Oh sure we can do that." Now this was going to be a great evening. I personally started off with a soft drink beverage but the one I choose (cherry coke I think) was not on the refill list. Which of course is okay, I just had to have one and then some water to save. Now the Sheppard's Pie was actually really good. It was toasted on top to perfection with the potatoes and the ingredients were very much Irish. I like that. Not the fake crap you can get on other places. I also had something unusual for an Irish Pub, french fries smothered in curry? (See photo I put up) I was really surprised at the Indian twist but I am totally loving it, its like a poo-tan moment I had in Canada once. You know, like wow! The Guinness was awesome and what else can I saw but bring a friend, this place is so worth it, and not expensive at all.

Pretty good food. I recommend any of the sandwiches and appetizers. Beer tap selection is usually the same with the occasional seasonal beer available. Make sure to check out the drink special for the night (located on the back of the food menu). Wait staff isn't always the greatest, especially at night when the place is busy. I will usually just go to the bar to get a drink faster. It's a better place to go to during the summer when the place isn't overrun with the college crowd.

Maggie's seems to be the "upscale" bar in Normal. It opened during my last year as a student at ISU, so I never really got to enjoy it. I wanted to return during my latest visit, so we did. We didn't eat, and I'm a little disappointed about that. I feel like we probably could've gotten a better meal here at a better price than what we got out on Veteran's at a chain... but that's my own fault. When we got there, it was jammin'. It was Friday night of homecoming weekend, and the crowd was a healthy mix of students and alumni. The drinks are more expensive than going to the Pub II or someplace comparable.... call me an old lady, I liked that my beverages were served to me in a GLASS, and not a plastic cup. I liked that I had a decent selection of beverages to choose from, not just "bud light. miller lite. jager bomb." I enjoyed a Strongbow cider while my other half sipped on whiskey. The prices are still better than being in the 'burbs or definitely the city. When I get down to ISU again (who knows when that will be?) I'll definitely have a meal at Maggie's... and enjoy another (comparatively) inexpensive Strongbow.

Maggie's eh just 'Meh' in my opinion. While it is better during the day light hours, at night It's always very loud, cramped, and the service has always been slightly less than friendly when I've been. Bartenders always seem to be pissed off on a busy night, which I can relate to, but no customer wants to be treated like that. I've had the food twice. Both times it was terrible. 4/10 Only positive think I have to say about Maggie's is they do have some great specials ($3 'Whiskey Wednesday) and a decent selection of beer. With a never ending supply of college students, I think they will do just fine. In my opinion, go to Medici if your looking for drinks in Uptown Normal (but definitely stay away from the food at both places).

I've been to Maggie's several times and here's my take: If you're looking for an evening place to have drinks with friends and play darts, I've had some pretty good times here. That's assuming you've had a drink or two somewhere else so you're chill enough to ignore the amount of time it takes you to order a beverage. Large crowds and grumpy bartenders. So, 2.5 to 3 stars. If you're looking for a nice Irish style meal I give them a 1.5 stars. That's sad considering the menu story makes you think they take a lot of pride in what they're cooking for you. But they season the food like it's going to be served to people over 100 years old (hint to the owner: the people in the photos on the wall are no longer eating your food), they use those teeny weeny frozen shrimp (they're slightly larger than sea monkeys) and they use frozen vegetables. I can salt and pepper at the table if I need to, but they really need to get a handle on better ingredients. $10 - $18 per entree should not get you peas and carrots with freezer burn. Go for the beer, darts and company. Maybe get a snack. But if you'd like a good meal, I'd go elsewhere.

My first visit to Maggie's was shortly after they opened their doors in 2004. I have been back dozens upon dozens of times and have had as many wonderful experiences. Out of all the times I've been there I can remember one negative experience that revolved around one particular bartender whom I proceeded to just avoid every other time I went there, if he was working. The owner Peter is a wonderful man who understands how a business should be run. Maggie Miley's is one of the most consistent, delightful, and satisfying businesses I have ever experienced. The food is reasonably priced, the menu carefully crafted, and perfectly executed. The bar specials are great and widely varied throughout the week. Bottled craft beers, flavored vodka drinks, whiskeys, drafts, long "Ireland" iced teas, you call its, etc etc. On Sundays there is a Bloody Mary special as well as EVERY OTHER DAILY BAR SPECIAL! Sunday nights are the best time to go! Having since moved to Denver, this is truly one of the only places that I miss frequenting and I have not found somewhere in Denver yet to replace the homelike experience and comfort level that Maggie's has impressed upon my being. If you are thinking about going here, just do it. If you are coming for dinner between 6PM and 8PM call ahead as soon as possible to reserve a table to avoid a long wait.

So I won't recap what everyone else has already written about this place in detail. What I will say is the beer (oh, God, the BEER!) is fantastic. The food is authentic and reminds me of 11 glorious days I spent in Ireland some years ago. The potato leek soup, bangers and mash, fish and chips, corned beef, brown bread...it all is highly reminiscent of the food from the pubs I spent my time in as I ate (and drank, and drank, and drank...did I mention I drank a bit in Ireland?) my way across the Gaelic countryside. Even the Guinness tastes better than other places around town. Staff is friendly and price is fair for the fare (see what I did there). Overall, definitely worth stopping in for a meal, either the solid or liquid variety.

So we called the next day to ask for a reservation and were told they don't take reservations. So, I'm not sure what they expect. Lack of common sense! Went with the wife and our college kid few hours after the st Pat's parade in town.. Waiting list was 30 mins, which was right on time, sat in a 4 top table, good service, and good food, fair prices.. Now the kicker, dropped $60 bucks on lunch and drinks for the 3 of us, then the kids college friends showed up, 7 of us all, the girls double up on chairs, and one stood at the table.. Dropped $45 bucks on rounds of drinks every 45 mins, times 3 rounds, for hour and half, then management said our two hour limit was up, they needed the table.. We looked around, 3-4 empty tables, and no line as we walked out the entrance. Couldn't figure that out, two parents buying drinks for 5 well behave your ladies, busy place lots of fun.. But major disappointment, bad call on management, maybe next time look at the bill.. left a nice tip for the poor waitress, it wasn't her fault..

They have awesome little booths and tables so it doesn't really accommodate large groups, unless you're just there to be at the bar. This is a place for adults. So hoochies need not apply.

Whiskey Wednesdays at Maggie's were by far my favorite bar special in Blormal ($3 Jameson? Unheard of in Chicago!). So, we've gone in with friends for drinks in the past and they were great! We decided to try there for dinner and drinks last weekend and it wasn't good. I thought for sure it would be great since we got drinks that were spot on and the onion rings. To start, the staff was spotty. The bartender would leave and not come back for a while. So to refill our beverages took some time. You might want to order 2 at a time and when you finish the first one, request another drink. You might get it by the time you are done with your second. The onion rings were crunchy and delicious. So a friend ordered the fish and chips. It came with the same batter and there were 3 large fish pieces. He said it was amazingly good and wasn't overly battered. Sometimes when you order fish n' chips it's mostly batter on the fish and very little fish. So next time, I'll order the fish n' chips here! I ordered the stuffed chicken. The chicken was so dry you couldn't even cut it. The "stuffing" was 4 little pieces of overly salted bread layered in between the two mini-overcooked chicken breasts. The mashed potatoes that came with it were delicious, so I was glad there was a large helping of those and the mixed vegetables. My boyfriend ordered the bangers n' mashed. It was laughable when it came to the table. It looked like a pinwheel of 6 little jimmy dean breakfast sausages surrounding a scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy. The sausage looked deep fried and over cooked to the point they were wrinkled. He could have purchased a pack of jimmy dean sausage links at the store for half the price! Very disappointed in the food...even for bar food, but I would definitely be back for drinks and onion rings! Save my money on the rest and hit a drive thru on the way there.

Maggie's is one of the few places in the University area that has a full menu, full bar and full service. All are very good. Menu standouts include the juicy, half pound burger with Irish cheddar and grilled onions and the potato leek soup. Reasonable prices, friendly service and fun Irish music. Note to Manager: this rating would be a 5 star except for your instructions for the wait staff to clean windows, glass and pictures in the area that I was eating. While it is good to know the restaurant is clean- it is unappetizing to smell ammonia and envision dust particles flying around while eating.

This pub is really nice! When we got here my friend said that it looks run down, but the inside is very clean and updated. It was Wednesday which meant $3 Whiskey Wednesdays! They were decently strong. We probably should have gotten them on the rocks, but I was trying to pace so I got whiskey cokes, 6 over an hour. They were good of course. I didn't eat too much of the food though. The onion rings were awesome! Beer battered, they were a good mix with the whiskey. The curry fries were decent, but the curry was made from a mix! We know because my friend is a vegetarian. The fries were kind of eh too. The service was good too. Our waitress was constantly checking on us. The crowd was okay, mostly older while we were there which was around dinner time. Not sure if it ramps up as the night goes on since it is next to the university. Also call ahead for reservations for a big group.

I will only give it two stars because I have had semi decent service here before. Was in town with my boyfriend the day after Christmas. We came to MM to enjoy a bloody and some potatoe leek soup. Being the day after Christmas, the place was pretty slow... we counted 5 people when we entered. So in a normal situation at a bar you can walk in, you don't have to read the small chalk written sign that says please wait to be seated. Upon entering MM we were talked down to by the host/bartender. "Normally we wait behind the stand to be seated." Upon saying this he ushered us back into the doorway to tell us "maybe I have to buy a neon sign to tell you to wait". Normally someone would say Oh hey guys let me grab some menus to seat you, since the BAR, not 5-star restaurant was empty. So as we ushered back into the doorway while he chastised us for entering the doorway, we were quiet. Not quiet because we are quiet people but because it was so shocking. So after being seated and told that the table we wanted to sit at was "reserved" in case a larger group came in just by chance we waited 5 minutes (not exaggerating it, we timed it because he were a little peeved from before) for the SAME waiter/bartender/host came to get our drink orders. This was also while my father over heard us commenting to the kitchen staff that "who did we think we were just walking in". With a new attitude he was nice, but acted like he hadn't even seated us. Needless to say we only got the bloody mary's and left AND only got these because I felt bad and didn't want to walk out like the rest of the group. Disappointing experience.. especially on slow day. Don't chastise a customer... groove with them. I'm sorry we didn't read the small chalkboard written warning to wait, but it is a bar.......

Definitely adds a twist to the place. One negative thing, the waitress we had didn't bother bringing us glasses for the two bottles of beer we ordered. One of the bottles was a Left Hand milk stout nitro, which really needs to be poured into a glass. We asked for a glass, thinking she didn't know, but then she instructed us on how to properly pour this specific beer into a glass, which means she knew it was meant to be served in a glass, but didn't bother to do that for us. A little annoying, but not a big deal.

This place is pretty solid. I've rarely had a bad meal here. The battered sausages are top notch. If you think you are a culinary tuff guy (or gal) , then get the Irish breakfast (served all day) and ask for extra blood sausage. My favorite item is the shepherd's pie. The veggies are not overdone and and the taters are super fluffy . I just wish they served it with a different side than that crappy frozen steamed broccoli/cauliflower mix. Also, not a highlight of their menu, but these guys have the best spinach salad in town, if that's your bag. As long as you steer clear of the stew (taste like Dinty Moore) then you will make out well. Also, mad props to these guys for having Matilda on tap.

For drinking, it's pretty good. Great beer selection and very good bartending. When it gets over-crowded during the fall and spring semesters, it's tough to get a bartender's attention. If you like Irish food, Maggies is the place for you. If you don't . . . the other menu choices are nothing special. I will say the Potato/Leek soup is really really good. It has a good, rich flavor, a bit of kick and isn't too heavy. If we're only out for drinks, Maggie's is a great option. If the plan is dinner, I'll go somewhere else.

Myself and some colleagues were in town for a work conference. We stopped in for lunch. We all ordered our food. 10 or 15 min. later everyone in our group got their meal except for me. I've worked in the service industry for around 15 years so I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and waited patiently. Another 10 minutes went by and I still hadn't received my meal so I finally spoke up. I was told that my food was accidentally picked up by the bartender and brought to a different table for someone else who ordered the same meal. I figured this is an honest mistake, I've made the same one a time or two in the past. But if I ever made this mistake I made sure that my customer was taken care of by addressing the problem and offering an appropriate solution to compensate for their inconvenience. Unfortunately this was not the case for me. The problem was not addressed further than letting me know about the problem. I do not know if this was just a problem with this particular server or the serving/managing staff as a whole. I will say that the food was good but I will probably not go back.

Disclosure: I'm an East Coaster who previously lived in Ireland and loves beer. Coming from out of town I'm always looking for new bars wherever I end up. Luckily for me nearly every self-respecting town in the US has an Irish bar. Even luckier for me Bloomington has quite the gem of one. With a bar crafted from the source, a founding story and quality draft and whiskey list this bar hits the nail pretty square on the head (not that I'm suggesting you use anything on your work bench after enjoying this pub). The food is standard Irish fare; I enjoyed the Shepard's Pie and look forward to the next meal - maybe the boxty. I think Maggie Miley's is rated $$$ which may be fair for a college town but I would pin it @ $$ given ~$12 entrees and good drink deals (for drinks you want to drink). My only issue, and yes I have to have one given my 4 stars, is certain aspects of the ambience. Despite the legit interior, it's a bit too polished for a true feeling Irish bar and the arcade games like big buck hunter kind of detract from what I define as a 100% pub. Nonetheless, this is a college part of town and I understand the need for such things (how else would you determine which of your friends is the most sober?). I'll be heading back and I hope this place is around for many more to come.

I still can't recommend this place enough. I've eaten here more than a few times and, Christ, I've drunken here more than anyone should have. The blackened catfish is the best dish for the non-meat eaters. The Burgers are still AMAZING for meat eaters. The potato-leek soup and a Harp or Guinness is an experience between class for the student looking for a solid meal to fill the gap between lit and history. I really can't recommend this place enough for folks in the area. My own family had a negative experience with a slow waiter my first weekend down here (but I've never had a problem since) and that's the only complaint I personally know about. The food has always been expertly prepared, delicious and amazing for me. That isn't even bringing into question the beer selection, which is amazing. I'm a beer snob and their "beer of the month" generally makes me feel small minded, not to mention other beers they have on hand. I suggest a Blackened Catfish with Boddingtons Pub Ale for a good lunch or dinner. Enoy!

If you like a chill group of fun people and good pub food, Maggie's is the place to be. It's a great little pub with good food and good service. I've never had poor service at Maggie's. I'm not a big noisy club kind of gal, this place is perfect to get a drink and get off the couch. It's never a big group of stupid drunk people, even on a Friday night.

So, let me preface by saying that I have been to MM twice. Once to eat and once to "kill some time" at the bar. Eating experience: we went there right after a late honeymoon in Scotland. I don't eat beef or pork, so my options were pretty limited. There just wasn't anything memorable for me here. My husband had the bangers and nash and liked it. He wasn't sure it was authentic, as we only had Scottish food to compare it to, but it was ok. The ambiance is ok. Drinking experience: we were there early on a Saturday night and it wasn't too crowded. It was nice enough to sit and chat. I don't ever think to go there for a meal or even for a night out. But, if I was uptown and wanted to kill some time, I would pop in there again.

Yesterday was the fourth time I've had lunch or dinner at Maggie's, and it's been a mixed bag every single visit. I don't know if their kitchen staff rotates a lot, or what, but it's been inconstant at best. Still, friends of mine speak highly of the place, so I've given it several tries. I was really starting to think they were letting the bar's quality excuse the food's quality. Yesterday was the first time I had a satisfactory meal there. As a bar, I'd give this a solid 4 or 5 stars. As a restaurant, they lose some points. The first time I went, I got their flagship Irish Beef Stew. The breadbowl was mushy and tasteless, and the stew wasn't seasoned nearly enough. In short, it was quite bland. I tried it again yesterday when a friend got it, and I was much more impressed. The second time, I got their Shepherd's Pie. The meat at the bottom was delicious, but it was completely overpowered by the mashed potatoes. It had far too many potatoes for the amount of other stuff I got. Again, this looked better yesterday. This last time, I got the Bangers & Mash. I'd had this dish before, but this time everything finally clicked. The first time I got it, the sausage was undercooked and mushy. This time, they were perfectly cooked, and the mashed potatoes & gravy were splendid. Really, the gravy was outstanding. A friend got a bowl of their Leek & Potato soup. I think that's what I'll get next time; it was very flavorful and delicious. At any rate, for the meal I got, it was still pretty expensive. That's par for the course for Uptown Normal, though, where most everything but Big Mouth's is a little overpriced and slightly unsatisfying. Still, my friends enjoyed it, and my wife wants to give it another shot in the near future, so I'm sure I'll be back again!

Really have to complement the servers today. We went with our young children (2.5 and 6 months). They are well behaved when out to eat and we make sure that we are not a distraction or noisy for other patrons. However, a toddler sized orange juice was spilled and our waitress quickly and politely cleaned everything up while we kept the kids out of the mess. She really went above and beyond to make our experience great!

Maggie's walks the walk as an Irish pub in terms of decor, menu, and drinks. My only complaint is the service. The wait staff is consistently slow and acts as though you are inconveniencing them whenever you finish your drink and ask for another. I would recommend going directly to the bar for refills. I don't want to dwell on the service though, because otherwise it is a really great pub. Maggie's is a restaurant by day and they won't seat your group before 7-8PM if you aren't planning to order food (unless it's especially slow). After the dinner crowd is gone though, it's a great pub atmosphere.

I'm not much of a drinker, so I won't comment on the bar aspect of Maggie Miley's. However, I have eaten here many times, and the food is excellent. They offer a variety of dishes, from sandwiches to shepard's pie to fish 'n chips to bangers and mash. The food can be a bit greasy, but it is very flavorful. I have never had a dish I did not like. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are large. This is a great place to enjoy some Irish food.

This is a great place. I went in and sat with some non-Jewish friends from the University. I was not hungry so just had a coke (I know, its a bar I should have had a beer but I am not old enough just yet). They servce authentic Irish food. One of my friends had an Irish breakfast with something called black pudding. He loved it and smeared it around in his eggs. I will save the gory details but it churned my kosher stomach inside out just to watch it. Another friend had bangers and mash (mashed potatoes and sausages I think) and he said they were "rocking". The place is really beautiful and when we were there 4 Irish men were sitting there talking in their accents (which I find really wonderful to hear) and it was as though I had no only been transported back to Ireland but due to the decor of the bar, back in time. Even in a pub, drinking only a coke and watching my friends eat, I had a great time. Parking is hard but that may be because of the construction. They do have a menu online you can access if you want and decide what you want to eat before you go there.

As packed as the place can be, especially once the restaurant shuts down, it's surprisingly clean. My biggest complaint is that if you're sitting at the bar, the bartenders seem to forget about you occasionally, and it can be difficult to get their attention.

I spent an hour or two here, waiting for a train, and it was the perfect place to enjoy dinner alone, reading a book, writing a few letters, eating dinner, & enjoying a beer or two. The curry sauce with a small order of fries was outstanding. I enjoyed the restaurant's version of a "french dip" and a Blue Moon. The service was fairly delayed and the staff was very young & impersonal (hee-hee, would you like another one, hee-hee?), but the setting/curry sauce made up for it.

We had some time to kill in Normal so we stopped into Maggie Milleys for some lunch. The atmosphere is standard Irish pub, with lots of taps, beer mirrors, wood, etc. It wasn't very busy on a Saturday summer afternoon, I imagine it gets busier when university is in session. We shared sweet potato chips which were tasty and perfectly cooked. My fish and chips was outstanding. The fish had a thick crispy batter and you could smell and taste the Guinness. Huge portion, very nice piece of fish. My wife had a grilled cheese sandwich with spinach and tomato - it had a specific name. That was also very good, tangy Irish cheddar cheese. Fries were fresh and seemed homemade. Service was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely stop in again when coming through Normal.

If you are in uptown, want drinks, and want food, Maggie's is your place. They have a full bar, an excellent wait staff, and a fun atmosphere. But, after 9 this changes. It turns into an obnoxious college bar with bad customer service. Prior to their Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde switch, I highly recommend this places shepherd's pie and Long Ireland.

Maggie's is a great, local, Irish pub serving a great mix of townies and students. Post 9pm it is a pretty solid student bar, but everyone, old and young (and kids!) alike goes before, just like a real Irish pub. They do a lot to get it authentic - after spending a month in Ireland last year I was surprised by how much on the menu is legitimately Irish pub fare, done really well. The one thing that it gets completely wrong (maybe on purpose) is the hostess situation - no matter if you are going to for a drink at the bar, or a full meal, you need to be seated by the hostess. They practically serve as bouncers/gatekeepers, something that I loathe as you don't feel welcome to linger as you would at an Irish pub. Recommended: The potato leek soup (seriously the best I've ever had), the fish and chips, and the boxty (potato pancake) appetizer. The salads are surprisingly generous and good.

When I stay at the Marriott nearby for business trips, you'll often find me here a night or two. During the week they have great drink specials with beer deals on Monday, well special on Tuesday, and whiskey specials on Wednesdays. I've eaten here a few times and the one standout dish was the duck tender salad. I've never had anything like that before and it was really tasty. The bartenders are a bit of a crapshoot in regards to friendliness and attentiveness, but I haven't had any really terrible experiences. Decor is pretty traditional for an irish pub, but definitely nicer than most of the college bars in the area. Being so close to ISU, expect lots of college kids, but you'll also get random local folks and groups of business travelers too.

To be honest, there are only a few menu items I like. I think most times, the meat is well over cooked. The veggies are some times cold. The potatoes are not very consistent with texture or taste. The fish and chips, the corned beef and cabbage and the stew are safe bets. The portion of stew leaves you hungry for more. The wait staff often seem thin on any night and you might have to yell to get a drink. However, they have a great selection of beer on tap. They have some personable people and the prices on drinks are not outrageous. I would just be careful with what you order. Enjoy a woodchuck hard cider while there.

This is a quite decent Irish Pub. We had the potato soup, which was really rich and good and the turkey sandwich, also a tasty dish. The portion size is exactly how you want it to be - not too big and not too small - just filling. The waiter serving us was fun and took very good care of us. Good place for a casual lunch or if you are in the mood for good pub food and a pint. The service from the servers is usually good. They seem to have some trouble figuring out how to get it together at the hostess stand though. If you have a party of two some of the seating choices can be a bit awkward. There are a couple of cozy semi-walled seating areas for a party of two, but there are two of those tables right next to each other so you are also cozied up right next to another couple. I highly recommend a pint of Guinness and the Shepherd's Pie.

Irish pub food at its best? Hmmmm, I am definitely into Irish food. Had the Sheppard's pie, and decided to try the Curry slathered fries. Hmm how Irish? We had a party of four and since our company was reimbursing us we had to get separate bills. Not even a hesitation! They said "Oh sure we can do that." Now this was going to be a great evening. I personally started off with a soft drink beverage but the one I choose (cherry coke I think) was not on the refill list. Which of course is okay, I just had to have one and then some water to save. Now the Sheppard's Pie was actually really good. It was toasted on top to perfection with the potatoes and the ingredients were very much Irish. I like that. Not the fake crap you can get on other places. I also had something unusual for an Irish Pub, french fries smothered in curry? (See photo I put up) I was really surprised at the Indian twist but I am totally loving it, its like a poo-tan moment I had in Canada once. You know, like wow! The Guinness was awesome and what else can I saw but bring a friend, this place is so worth it, and not expensive at all.

Pretty good food. I recommend any of the sandwiches and appetizers. Beer tap selection is usually the same with the occasional seasonal beer available. Make sure to check out the drink special for the night (located on the back of the food menu). Wait staff isn't always the greatest, especially at night when the place is busy. I will usually just go to the bar to get a drink faster. It's a better place to go to during the summer when the place isn't overrun with the college crowd.

Maggie's seems to be the "upscale" bar in Normal. It opened during my last year as a student at ISU, so I never really got to enjoy it. I wanted to return during my latest visit, so we did. We didn't eat, and I'm a little disappointed about that. I feel like we probably could've gotten a better meal here at a better price than what we got out on Veteran's at a chain... but that's my own fault. When we got there, it was jammin'. It was Friday night of homecoming weekend, and the crowd was a healthy mix of students and alumni. The drinks are more expensive than going to the Pub II or someplace comparable.... call me an old lady, I liked that my beverages were served to me in a GLASS, and not a plastic cup. I liked that I had a decent selection of beverages to choose from, not just "bud light. miller lite. jager bomb." I enjoyed a Strongbow cider while my other half sipped on whiskey. The prices are still better than being in the 'burbs or definitely the city. When I get down to ISU again (who knows when that will be?) I'll definitely have a meal at Maggie's... and enjoy another (comparatively) inexpensive Strongbow.

We've always had excellent food and service. It's a great lunch break when you're shopping in Uptown Normal. The boxty wedges (appetizer) is on my list of "last meal" foods. So delicious! Bangers & mash and shepherds pie are a great choice! Take a group of 4 friends and get a cozy booth for a bit of Ireland in Central Illinois.

Maggie's eh just 'Meh' in my opinion. While it is better during the day light hours, at night It's always very loud, cramped, and the service has always been slightly less than friendly when I've been. Bartenders always seem to be pissed off on a busy night, which I can relate to, but no customer wants to be treated like that. I've had the food twice. Both times it was terrible. 4/10 Only positive think I have to say about Maggie's is they do have some great specials ($3 'Whiskey Wednesday) and a decent selection of beer. With a never ending supply of college students, I think they will do just fine. In my opinion, go to Medici if your looking for drinks in Uptown Normal (but definitely stay away from the food at both places).

What's a nice bar doing in a place like this? That's how I feel about Maggie's. It is a bit out of place. It may be a bit too mainstream/nice for the ISU area in which it is located. I just don't know what to make of that. Drinks were great, and the food is good. It is a great place to meet with your parents when they come to visit at school. Maybe not so much for a night out with friends.

I've been to Maggie's several times and here's my take: If you're looking for an evening place to have drinks with friends and play darts, I've had some pretty good times here. That's assuming you've had a drink or two somewhere else so you're chill enough to ignore the amount of time it takes you to order a beverage. Large crowds and grumpy bartenders. So, 2.5 to 3 stars. If you're looking for a nice Irish style meal I give them a 1.5 stars. That's sad considering the menu story makes you think they take a lot of pride in what they're cooking for you. But they season the food like it's going to be served to people over 100 years old (hint to the owner: the people in the photos on the wall are no longer eating your food), they use those teeny weeny frozen shrimp (they're slightly larger than sea monkeys) and they use frozen vegetables. I can salt and pepper at the table if I need to, but they really need to get a handle on better ingredients. $10 - $18 per entree should not get you peas and carrots with freezer burn. Go for the beer, darts and company. Maybe get a snack. But if you'd like a good meal, I'd go elsewhere.

My first visit to Maggie's was shortly after they opened their doors in 2004. I have been back dozens upon dozens of times and have had as many wonderful experiences. Out of all the times I've been there I can remember one negative experience that revolved around one particular bartender whom I proceeded to just avoid every other time I went there, if he was working. The owner Peter is a wonderful man who understands how a business should be run. Maggie Miley's is one of the most consistent, delightful, and satisfying businesses I have ever experienced. The food is reasonably priced, the menu carefully crafted, and perfectly executed. The bar specials are great and widely varied throughout the week. Bottled craft beers, flavored vodka drinks, whiskeys, drafts, long "Ireland" iced teas, you call its, etc etc. On Sundays there is a Bloody Mary special as well as EVERY OTHER DAILY BAR SPECIAL! Sunday nights are the best time to go! Having since moved to Denver, this is truly one of the only places that I miss frequenting and I have not found somewhere in Denver yet to replace the homelike experience and comfort level that Maggie's has impressed upon my being. If you are thinking about going here, just do it. If you are coming for dinner between 6PM and 8PM call ahead as soon as possible to reserve a table to avoid a long wait.

So I won't recap what everyone else has already written about this place in detail. What I will say is the beer (oh, God, the BEER!) is fantastic. The food is authentic and reminds me of 11 glorious days I spent in Ireland some years ago. The potato leek soup, bangers and mash, fish and chips, corned beef, brown bread...it all is highly reminiscent of the food from the pubs I spent my time in as I ate (and drank, and drank, and drank...did I mention I drank a bit in Ireland?) my way across the Gaelic countryside. Even the Guinness tastes better than other places around town. Staff is friendly and price is fair for the fare (see what I did there). Overall, definitely worth stopping in for a meal, either the solid or liquid variety.

So I've never been to Normal and the valet at the Marriott mentioned this place. I agree with one of the earlier reviews - dude behind the bar needs to grow a personality and lose the 'tude. I waited 10 min before he acknowledged me and the place isn't that busy. One beer and I'm outa here never to darken this saloon's doorway again.

Not bad, if you can get in. We went the other night, were told it'd be a 45 min wait and that we should have made a reservation. So we called the next day to ask for a reservation and were told they don't take reservations. So, I'm not sure what they expect. The food itself is ok and the beer is good, but their usually quite rude about giving you a table.

Lack of common sense! Went with the wife and our college kid few hours after the st Pat's parade in town.. Waiting list was 30 mins, which was right on time, sat in a 4 top table, good service, and good food, fair prices.. Now the kicker, dropped $60 bucks on lunch and drinks for the 3 of us, then the kids college friends showed up, 7 of us all, the girls double up on chairs, and one stood at the table.. Dropped $45 bucks on rounds of drinks every 45 mins, times 3 rounds, for hour and half, then management said our two hour limit was up, they needed the table.. We looked around, 3-4 empty tables, and no line as we walked out the entrance. Couldn't figure that out, two parents buying drinks for 5 well behave your ladies, busy place lots of fun.. But major disappointment, bad call on management, maybe next time look at the bill.. left a nice tip for the poor waitress, it wasn't her fault..

Not "tolerate" it cuz you don't want your friends to know the truth, but I mean really truly enjoy? They have a great selection of Black and "you name its". My personal fave after last night is the Irish King... Guinness and King Weiss. Oh heavenly yummy-ness. Even with a hangover I still remember you fondly. The Black and Blue (moon) is my close personal second. And you must must must get an Irish Car Bomb. If you're a virgin to this concoction of deliciousness then imagine getting drunk off of chocolate milk. After too many your friends will start calling them Car-ish Bombs :-) But the food! Oh how could I forget thee. Hey salad eater... this is not a place for you. On a diet? No you're not. Here's the best I've had so far. Go early and hungry and share with friends... portions are H U G E: 1. Guinness Battered Onion Rings. nuf said. 2. Potato Leek Soup with cheese and bacon. Just get a cup. Its a big cup! the bowl should be called a vat. 3. Fish and Chips. If they had mushy peas this would be better but its still wicked authentic. 4. Bangers and Mash. really. This with a good beer (see descriptions above) is one of the most fulfilling meals on the planet. 5. Boxty. Get the one with Irish Beef Stew. 6. Paddy Melt. Best in town. Best I've ever had actually. (what every man wants to hear :-) 7. Corned Beef Sandwich. Admittedly I did not order this but 3 people at our table did. All they could say all night was.. Mmmmmm Salty meat. So it makes the cut. It is one of the coolest bars ever. Not establishment, I mean the actually physical piece of furniture referred to as a bar. Awesome and flown in from Ireland. Yep. Best for groups of 4. They have awesome little booths and tables so it doesn't really accommodate large groups, unless you're just there to be at the bar. This is a place for adults. So hoochies need not apply.

Oh my sweet Maggie Miley's. You were my favorite of the Blormal bars, within walking distance from my apartment(s). Whiskey Wednesdays at Maggie's were by far my favorite bar special in Blormal ($3 Jameson? Unheard of in Chicago!). The staff were always welcoming and well-versed in their booze selection (I judge you when your first suggestion for beer is Miller Lite) Some of my best college memories revolve around stopping in Maggie's for a Jameson & Diet coke and a couple of rounds of darts. I never knew how good I had it back then, times were easier... sigh.

They apologized 3 times because of a large group coming in - not our fault we were there first. TIP: Don't put people at a table, if you don't have plenty of time and know it's reserved for a large group.

So, we've gone in with friends for drinks in the past and they were great! We decided to try there for dinner and drinks last weekend and it wasn't good. I thought for sure it would be great since we got drinks that were spot on and the onion rings. To start, the staff was spotty. The bartender would leave and not come back for a while. So to refill our beverages took some time. You might want to order 2 at a time and when you finish the first one, request another drink. You might get it by the time you are done with your second. The onion rings were crunchy and delicious. So a friend ordered the fish and chips. It came with the same batter and there were 3 large fish pieces. He said it was amazingly good and wasn't overly battered. Sometimes when you order fish n' chips it's mostly batter on the fish and very little fish. So next time, I'll order the fish n' chips here! I ordered the stuffed chicken. The chicken was so dry you couldn't even cut it. The "stuffing" was 4 little pieces of overly salted bread layered in between the two mini-overcooked chicken breasts. The mashed potatoes that came with it were delicious, so I was glad there was a large helping of those and the mixed vegetables. My boyfriend ordered the bangers n' mashed. It was laughable when it came to the table. It looked like a pinwheel of 6 little jimmy dean breakfast sausages surrounding a scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy. The sausage looked deep fried and over cooked to the point they were wrinkled. He could have purchased a pack of jimmy dean sausage links at the store for half the price! Very disappointed in the food...even for bar food, but I would definitely be back for drinks and onion rings! Save my money on the rest and hit a drive thru on the way there.

Stopped here for lunch during a road trip to Peoria. The food was good, the draft Guinness very good. The soup and the fish and chips stood a bit above the rest. Nice atmosphere, rather casual service. None of us were blown away, but everyone agreed this was a better choice than all those chain restaurants along Veteran's.

Maggie's is one of the few places in the University area that has a full menu, full bar and full service. All are very good. Menu standouts include the juicy, half pound burger with Irish cheddar and grilled onions and the potato leek soup. Reasonable prices, friendly service and fun Irish music. Note to Manager: this rating would be a 5 star except for your instructions for the wait staff to clean windows, glass and pictures in the area that I was eating. While it is good to know the restaurant is clean- it is unappetizing to smell ammonia and envision dust particles flying around while eating.

This pub is really nice! When we got here my friend said that it looks run down, but the inside is very clean and updated. It was Wednesday which meant $3 Whiskey Wednesdays! They were decently strong. We probably should have gotten them on the rocks, but I was trying to pace so I got whiskey cokes, 6 over an hour. They were good of course. I didn't eat too much of the food though. The onion rings were awesome! Beer battered, they were a good mix with the whiskey. The curry fries were decent, but the curry was made from a mix! We know because my friend is a vegetarian. The fries were kind of eh too. The service was good too. Our waitress was constantly checking on us. The crowd was okay, mostly older while we were there which was around dinner time. Not sure if it ramps up as the night goes on since it is next to the university. Also call ahead for reservations for a big group.

I will only give it two stars because I have had semi decent service here before. Was in town with my boyfriend the day after Christmas. We came to MM to enjoy a bloody and some potatoe leek soup. Being the day after Christmas, the place was pretty slow... we counted 5 people when we entered. So in a normal situation at a bar you can walk in, you don't have to read the small chalk written sign that says please wait to be seated. Upon entering MM we were talked down to by the host/bartender. "Normally we wait behind the stand to be seated." Upon saying this he ushered us back into the doorway to tell us "maybe I have to buy a neon sign to tell you to wait". Normally someone would say Oh hey guys let me grab some menus to seat you, since the BAR, not 5-star restaurant was empty. So as we ushered back into the doorway while he chastised us for entering the doorway, we were quiet. Not quiet because we are quiet people but because it was so shocking. So after being seated and told that the table we wanted to sit at was "reserved" in case a larger group came in just by chance we waited 5 minutes (not exaggerating it, we timed it because he were a little peeved from before) for the SAME waiter/bartender/host came to get our drink orders. This was also while my father over heard us commenting to the kitchen staff that "who did we think we were just walking in". With a new attitude he was nice, but acted like he hadn't even seated us. Needless to say we only got the bloody mary's and left AND only got these because I felt bad and didn't want to walk out like the rest of the group. Disappointing experience.. especially on slow day. Don't chastise a customer... groove with them. I'm sorry we didn't read the small chalkboard written warning to wait, but it is a bar.......

I love Maggie's! Every time we eat here I always get the fish and chips. It is battered using Guinness and absolutely delicious. Their patio is wonderful in the summer but this place sure does get swamped at night and on the weekends.

Great food, cool atmosphere. Would love to see more local brews on tap, but you can't win them all. The menu's are all printed like news papers and that's pretty great. Definitely adds a twist to the place. One negative thing, the waitress we had didn't bother bringing us glasses for the two bottles of beer we ordered. One of the bottles was a Left Hand milk stout nitro, which really needs to be poured into a glass. We asked for a glass, thinking she didn't know, but then she instructed us on how to properly pour this specific beer into a glass, which means she knew it was meant to be served in a glass, but didn't bother to do that for us. A little annoying, but not a big deal.

This place is pretty solid. I've rarely had a bad meal here. The battered sausages are top notch. If you think you are a culinary tuff guy (or gal) , then get the Irish breakfast (served all day) and ask for extra blood sausage. My favorite item is the shepherd's pie. The veggies are not overdone and and the taters are super fluffy . I just wish they served it with a different side than that crappy frozen steamed broccoli/cauliflower mix. Also, not a highlight of their menu, but these guys have the best spinach salad in town, if that's your bag. As long as you steer clear of the stew (taste like Dinty Moore) then you will make out well. Also, mad props to these guys for having Matilda on tap.

For drinking, it's pretty good. Great beer selection and very good bartending. When it gets over-crowded during the fall and spring semesters, it's tough to get a bartender's attention. If you like Irish food, Maggies is the place for you. If you don't . . . the other menu choices are nothing special. I will say the Potato/Leek soup is really really good. It has a good, rich flavor, a bit of kick and isn't too heavy. If we're only out for drinks, Maggie's is a great option. If the plan is dinner, I'll go somewhere else.

Myself and some colleagues were in town for a work conference. We stopped in for lunch. We all ordered our food. 10 or 15 min. later everyone in our group got their meal except for me. I've worked in the service industry for around 15 years so I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and waited patiently. Another 10 minutes went by and I still hadn't received my meal so I finally spoke up. I was told that my food was accidentally picked up by the bartender and brought to a different table for someone else who ordered the same meal. I figured this is an honest mistake, I've made the same one a time or two in the past. But if I ever made this mistake I made sure that my customer was taken care of by addressing the problem and offering an appropriate solution to compensate for their inconvenience. Unfortunately this was not the case for me. The problem was not addressed further than letting me know about the problem. I do not know if this was just a problem with this particular server or the serving/managing staff as a whole. I will say that the food was good but I will probably not go back.

Disclosure: I'm an East Coaster who previously lived in Ireland and loves beer. Coming from out of town I'm always looking for new bars wherever I end up. Luckily for me nearly every self-respecting town in the US has an Irish bar. Even luckier for me Bloomington has quite the gem of one. With a bar crafted from the source, a founding story and quality draft and whiskey list this bar hits the nail pretty square on the head (not that I'm suggesting you use anything on your work bench after enjoying this pub). The food is standard Irish fare; I enjoyed the Shepard's Pie and look forward to the next meal - maybe the boxty. I think Maggie Miley's is rated $$$ which may be fair for a college town but I would pin it @ $$ given ~$12 entrees and good drink deals (for drinks you want to drink). My only issue, and yes I have to have one given my 4 stars, is certain aspects of the ambience. Despite the legit interior, it's a bit too polished for a true feeling Irish bar and the arcade games like big buck hunter kind of detract from what I define as a 100% pub. Nonetheless, this is a college part of town and I understand the need for such things (how else would you determine which of your friends is the most sober?). I'll be heading back and I hope this place is around for many more to come.

TWICE now I've had watered down, stinky-stale draft beer. And while the ambiance is nice at about 8pm, by 10:30 it's loud and overrun by college students. I still can't recommend this place enough. I've eaten here more than a few times and, Christ, I've drunken here more than anyone should have. The blackened catfish is the best dish for the non-meat eaters. The Burgers are still AMAZING for meat eaters. The potato-leek soup and a Harp or Guinness is an experience between class for the student looking for a solid meal to fill the gap between lit and history. I really can't recommend this place enough for folks in the area. My own family had a negative experience with a slow waiter my first weekend down here (but I've never had a problem since) and that's the only complaint I personally know about. The food has always been expertly prepared, delicious and amazing for me. That isn't even bringing into question the beer selection, which is amazing. I'm a beer snob and their "beer of the month" generally makes me feel small minded, not to mention other beers they have on hand. I suggest a Blackened Catfish with Boddingtons Pub Ale for a good lunch or dinner. Enoy!

If you like flashing lights, music that will damage your hearing, and being groped, this is not the place for you. If you like a chill group of fun people and good pub food, Maggie's is the place to be. It's a great little pub with good food and good service. I've never had poor service at Maggie's. I'm not a big noisy club kind of gal, this place is perfect to get a drink and get off the couch. It's never a big group of stupid drunk people, even on a Friday night.

So, let me preface by saying that I have been to MM twice. Once to eat and once to "kill some time" at the bar. Eating experience: we went there right after a late honeymoon in Scotland. I don't eat beef or pork, so my options were pretty limited. There just wasn't anything memorable for me here. My husband had the bangers and nash and liked it. He wasn't sure it was authentic, as we only had Scottish food to compare it to, but it was ok. The ambiance is ok. Drinking experience: we were there early on a Saturday night and it wasn't too crowded. It was nice enough to sit and chat. I don't ever think to go there for a meal or even for a night out. But, if I was uptown and wanted to kill some time, I would pop in there again.

Yesterday was the fourth time I've had lunch or dinner at Maggie's, and it's been a mixed bag every single visit. I don't know if their kitchen staff rotates a lot, or what, but it's been inconstant at best. Still, friends of mine speak highly of the place, so I've given it several tries. I was really starting to think they were letting the bar's quality excuse the food's quality. Yesterday was the first time I had a satisfactory meal there. As a bar, I'd give this a solid 4 or 5 stars. As a restaurant, they lose some points. The first time I went, I got their flagship Irish Beef Stew. The breadbowl was mushy and tasteless, and the stew wasn't seasoned nearly enough. In short, it was quite bland. I tried it again yesterday when a friend got it, and I was much more impressed. The second time, I got their Shepherd's Pie. The meat at the bottom was delicious, but it was completely overpowered by the mashed potatoes. It had far too many potatoes for the amount of other stuff I got. Again, this looked better yesterday. This last time, I got the Bangers & Mash. I'd had this dish before, but this time everything finally clicked. The first time I got it, the sausage was undercooked and mushy. This time, they were perfectly cooked, and the mashed potatoes & gravy were splendid. Really, the gravy was outstanding. A friend got a bowl of their Leek & Potato soup. I think that's what I'll get next time; it was very flavorful and delicious. At any rate, for the meal I got, it was still pretty expensive. That's par for the course for Uptown Normal, though, where most everything but Big Mouth's is a little overpriced and slightly unsatisfying. Still, my friends enjoyed it, and my wife wants to give it another shot in the near future, so I'm sure I'll be back again!

Really have to complement the servers today. We went with our young children (2.5 and 6 months). They are well behaved when out to eat and we make sure that we are not a distraction or noisy for other patrons. However, a toddler sized orange juice was spilled and our waitress quickly and politely cleaned everything up while we kept the kids out of the mess. She really went above and beyond to make our experience great!

Maggie's walks the walk as an Irish pub in terms of decor, menu, and drinks. My only complaint is the service. The wait staff is consistently slow and acts as though you are inconveniencing them whenever you finish your drink and ask for another. I would recommend going directly to the bar for refills. I don't want to dwell on the service though, because otherwise it is a really great pub. Maggie's is a restaurant by day and they won't seat your group before 7-8PM if you aren't planning to order food (unless it's especially slow). After the dinner crowd is gone though, it's a great pub atmosphere.

Good taps, oddly as German as they were Irish. Still, this was a great Irish bar because it didn't forget that it was in America. They had NFL on the TV and the music wasn't too loud so you could have a nice conversation!

I'm not much of a drinker, so I won't comment on the bar aspect of Maggie Miley's. However, I have eaten here many times, and the food is excellent. They offer a variety of dishes, from sandwiches to shepard's pie to fish 'n chips to bangers and mash. The food can be a bit greasy, but it is very flavorful. I have never had a dish I did not like. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are large. This is a great place to enjoy some Irish food.

This is a great place. I went in and sat with some non-Jewish friends from the University. I was not hungry so just had a coke (I know, its a bar I should have had a beer but I am not old enough just yet). They servce authentic Irish food. One of my friends had an Irish breakfast with something called black pudding. He loved it and smeared it around in his eggs. I will save the gory details but it churned my kosher stomach inside out just to watch it. Another friend had bangers and mash (mashed potatoes and sausages I think) and he said they were "rocking". The place is really beautiful and when we were there 4 Irish men were sitting there talking in their accents (which I find really wonderful to hear) and it was as though I had no only been transported back to Ireland but due to the decor of the bar, back in time. Even in a pub, drinking only a coke and watching my friends eat, I had a great time. Parking is hard but that may be because of the construction. They do have a menu online you can access if you want and decide what you want to eat before you go there.

This is probably my favorite bar. Great selection of beer, good mixed drink specials, and gotta love that glowing green Paddy's. As packed as the place can be, especially once the restaurant shuts down, it's surprisingly clean. My biggest complaint is that if you're sitting at the bar, the bartenders seem to forget about you occasionally, and it can be difficult to get their attention.

I spent an hour or two here, waiting for a train, and it was the perfect place to enjoy dinner alone, reading a book, writing a few letters, eating dinner, & enjoying a beer or two. The curry sauce with a small order of fries was outstanding. I enjoyed the restaurant's version of a "french dip" and a Blue Moon. The service was fairly delayed and the staff was very young & impersonal (hee-hee, would you like another one, hee-hee?), but the setting/curry sauce made up for it.

Went back to Maggie's this week. Always soooo good. Anything with Irish cheddar rocks, especially the soup and the Mick. Never had anything we didn't love, and there are always fun beers on draft. Drinks are good, but the bar can get a little loud if the college kids are watching a game. Service isn't fast, but it is usually friendly.

Maggie Miley's is what all Irish Pubs in American should aspire to be like. They have plenty of good beer on tap. They have many Irish food options. The decor is well done, the atmosphere is not overly "sports-bar." There are plenty of bar stools. Plus the prices are very average for a bar/grill place.
