This Wendy's is one of very few locations in the burbs with a Coke Freestyle! COKE FREESTYLE! How I love thee! Let me count the ways! There are 106 ways in which I love you. I made my friends Coke Freestyle believers last night. We were at Wendy's for quite awhile...playing music, playing scrabble with letter we got in our kids meals (we are super cool) and stalking the Coke Freestyle machine. I think we tried almost every flavor and closely watched what everyone else got, as well. Aside from this Wendy's location having a Coke Freestyle it's a nice Wendy's. I grew up in Glenview and I feel like it's been in the same spot since forever so it must do well. Clean location, friendly workers (don't try to steal napkins & straws though or they get nasty! we witnessed them yelling at an old lady who was stealing the goods! lol). Food is standard Wendy's fare, yummy, cheap, fattening good stuff.

Dave Thomas struck me as a genuinely good guy and his chain of Wendy's restaurants used to be my favorite. But since Dave Thomas passed away I've notived changes in the attitude and quality of the service that make me never want to eat there again. On my recent stop at this particular Wendys in Niles, I had to wait at the counter while employees looked at me from the back without any kind of response. When someone finally did arrive to take my order, she was still talking to another employee in Spanish, joking and not at all paying attention. She made me repeat my order more than once and generally made the whole experience frustrating. The place was clean, except for some of the guests, but the service was pretty bad.

I've been a periodic customer of this Wendy's for years. On the plus side: The restaurant is typically kept clean. Their combo meals allow you to choose the side dish--you're not limited to french fries. Other sides include: baked potato, chili, yogurt and cesar or garden salad. The small fountain drink is quite large and refillable for free (no self-service). This location has ample parking and the bathroom is acceptable. They use an automatic faucet that emits only cold water. There are no paper towels--only an electric hand dryer. On the minus side: The store's layout is deficient for ordering. During busy times, the process is inordinately slow. Many times there is only one order taker. The restaurant is cold in the winter. They utilize air-lock door systems, so I believe it's the result of a cost savings effort. They recently eliminated Coke Zero and I can't seem to get low fat honey mustard dressing anymore. The staff has no idea why.

They are one of a few places that had the fancy coke freestyle, not that it is filled with every flavor it's supposed to. Today it had no diet varieties at all. The void us as you would expect from any Wendy's, however the cashier often had the problem of not being able to do simple math to figure out how many drinks you're multi person order need. Too bad finding this place on yelp is so hard even when you're in the store itself.
