The best Thai restaurant in the area! I have been here a couple times and have enjoyed my food each time. The food is very delicious and the staff is very friendly. I used to think thai food was the same everywhere but I have had some BAD thai food. This place doesn't skimp on portions and the dishes are not drowning in grease. There are lots of thai restaurants in the area but I come here (even though I pass up about 3 other thai places) to get my thai food cravings. Highly recommended!

Been coming here for years, mostly for the lunch buffet. Buffet is limited, yet what is offered is very good. The same setup for the ten or so years I've been coming, 8 hot surface areas and a soup they offer for the lunch buffet for $8.95. They refill the buffet until 2/230pm. They can benefit from having a self-serve water dispenser or providing a water pitcher for the table as the sole server may/may not busy to come refill your water. On the other end, i've ordered take out a few times. The portions are good, the food is above average, and the price is about right.

I am Thai and I love the food here. Is this sufficient for a review? Just kidding! I guess as I am the reigning Duchess of Siam's House, it's time for me to write a review. I have been here a gazillion times and I still come back. I think that says something about the food here. I feel really sorry for all the people who had bad experiences here, because I don't want this place to get a bad rep! But I know first impressions are important. They do have a few dishes that aren't amazing (crying tiger- don't order that here!), but most of it is made how it's supposed to taste. I won't say everything is great, and perhaps some people are used to it a certain way from their usual Thai spot, but the food here is definitely authentic. The decor sucks. They really need to redecorate, but as with most Thai places, they won't do until there is a new owner. That's really just how it goes in the Thai community. If it ain't broke don't fix it. The service: there are a few different servers here. Depends on what day you go, will determine the quality of service you get. I avoid going on certain days depending on who I know will be there. Maybe because I'm Thai, they are always pleasant with me but I still see the differences in service. Back to the food: my favorites here are the seafood sukiyaki, beef boat noodles, basil chicken, crab fried rice and fried catfish salad. I especially come here for the ice cream. This is one of the few places that serve coconut ice cream the way they do in Thailand! I am not making any excuses for anything they lack. I just have my favorites dishes here and I really enjoy the food. And my reviews always focus on the food.

Do not understand all the hypes here. There are many other Thai restaurants that serve better food in Chicagoland area. The server is very unfriendly and rude. She seemed like she hates her job and i felt very uncomfortable. Most of all, my food had a hair!! So disgusting! At least they did not charge my food. However, they never apologized and said sorry. When I showed the server a hair in my food, she just said "I don't know" and took the dish away. The table was not also clean, and I had to wipe it myself. I will never go back!!!

The angel wing appetizer is nice and crispy on the outside, with tender and delicious ground meat, corn, noodles and some other veggies inside. Alongside the usual chili sweet & sour dipping sauce. Yum.. I love love how the basil chicken was actually spicy, I will ask for even spicier when I go back. Great food, Great prices.

By far the best Pad See Ew noodles I've ever had. It almost brings me to tears each time I try it, and never has it failed to live up to my expectations. Even after trying Pad See Ew at other 4+ star locations, I have to say Siam's House does it the absolute best. Also, I highly recommend the green curry and basil fried rice with chicken, as well as the crab rangoon. This is the kind of food that's perfect for takeout. I've eaten in a few times and I have to admit the ambiance is a little lacking, but the food and service makes up for that many times over. Really, the only complaint I have is that they do not do delivery; if they did, I'd be ordering all the time.

The difference between a good reviewer and not so good one is the judging part. I often saw on Facebook, friends who had a bad experience would write in their status..oh so and so is so gonna get yelped. Yelp has become a verb and in use gravitating towards being a mouth piece of a negative experience. It is not always the case and I want to get on my soap box and stand up for some of the Elites that truly try. There are a lot of fair and astute reviewers who actually reviewing and not just judging. Judging without reviewing is unfair. Reviewing without getting to know the details is impossible. Long ass introduction but Siam House is the type of place where people may judge from strictly surface factors. Sadly I read a lot of reviews (not just on Yelp though) recently that were really just surface based and some of the verdicts were staggering. Granted some truly deserve the one or two stars by all means. I know I had a few of those myself. There's a thread I read on Yelp on some of the most hilarious one star ROTDs that were really deserving. I get it some deserved the bashing. Yet, there are people and feelings behind all of it. However, look at Siam House's reviews... A lot of five stars!! This restaurant defies the curse because it is that damn good. For a dingy strip mall restaurants, with pink table cloth, and a lot of misspellings on the special board, this place truly rocks. I have asked people to come here and some refused as they wanted to go somewhere nicer. Yet, I haven't found a Thai restaurant this good anywhere in the US where I have traveled. Not one even comes close. I'm just sad on those two stars reviews this place is getting as well. Everything I have ever tasted there was stellar. The catfish salad was to die for. The stuffed angel wings was delicious. The pad thai.. Hands down best ever. The crab fried rice, the chicken kha mu, the pork belly cooked in soy sauce, and my beloved pad gra pow or spicy basil chicken...mhmhmh good. If you asked for spicy, watch out. You better have some Kaeopactate handy. The coconut sorbet was also just a great dessert especially if it's served with the warm rice pudding. Oh it was just so so good you feel like you're in Bangkok having fun after watching the most kick ass drag queen show and pissed that the lady with an Adam's apple looked better than you. Yep, it is in Niles but not far from O'Hare. Take a short drive and give this place a try. It is truly underrated and though those who had been there and really looked beyond the surface understand that this is diamond in the rough, I really want more people to know. Don't judge. Experience it and share your stories. Don't judge from their sorry excuse of a lunch buffet. Don't judge on their weak tea and they only had one server for the whole place. Thai food this good is hard to find. I happen to travel 500 miles to eat here. If you judge without getting to know the real deal, you will simply miss out on a chance for a remarkable chow down.

Good food. Terrible service and horrendous take out service. Quoted 40 minutes wait for take out and it ended up being 90 minutes!! Sure every place has an off night but the good ones apologize profusely and offer something for the inconvenience. Arrived 50 minutes after ordering then sat there for 40 minutes waiting and no one offered just a glass of water much less a discount on the order or a coupon for future use. Shame, shame. Pass. on this place and go to Arun's new place on N. Pulaski, Taste of Thai Town.

By far one of the best Thai restaurants in the neighborhood. In fact I would say it's among the top three thai restaurants in Chicago when it comes to food. Don't expect anything beyond good food and you won't be disappointed. It's a small hole in the wall...but the flavors are amazing. The red curry has a lovely basil aroma....the yellow curry was rich and tasted distinctly different from the red curry. I have gone back several times for their red curry.

I have not returned since chomping on some porcelain type material in the egg rolls last year. I realize mistakes happen, but that's a fatal one for a customer, regardless of how wonderful the initial dining experience was.

I think this is the best Thai food I've ever had. I've been here several times and haven't written a review on it till now. Yesterday, I came in on a Thursday night at 9pm and we were the only ones there. It took a while to get the food out but it's fresh so you know it will take some time. We ordered the Yum Neur (Beef Salad) of cucumbers, spices, lime juice, and onions. (Pretty good too and i'm sure its paleo-friendly.) Fried chicken with dipping sauce and the sauce is so good and the chicken is not greasy. Basil Chicken (mild) with fried eggs. The Basil Chicken here is so good. You can order in different levels of spicy, but I prefer mild. The deep fried eggs here are BOMB. It's not on the menu but you can ask for it. It's all for a reasonable price too! Definitely my favorite Thai place.

Had the spicy basil chicken and angel wings, both are very tasty. This came with pad Thai (good peanut sauce) and yummy Tom Yun soup. This is BYOB and cardinal liquor is next door.

This place was recommended to me by a fellow Yelper and the food is awesome! There were 4 of us and we ordered a boatload of food: Angel wings Basil chicken -- the best I've had! Gai Mai - fried chicken wings with special sauce -- a Pari P. special, and the sauce was absolutely amazing Yum pla dook - fried catfish salad -- probably one of the best plates out of the bunch Pad see ewe - wide rice noodles with beef and spinach Curry fried rice with mussels -- interesting take; I never had mussels with fried rice, but it was a good combo Pad Thai with shrimp The staff was super friendly and nice. Despite the amount of dishes we ordered, the food came out pretty quick. As mentioned above, the flavors were delightful, vibrant, and tasty. What people are knocking this place down on is its decor. The decor could use some updating, but looks are definitely deceiving! BATHROOM REVIEW -- Located near the back, the bathrooms were single bathrooms, one for woman and one for men. The men's bathroom was pretty clean and bright. Sit or squat? Sit.

Siam's House serves buffet at lunch. It has egg rolls, soup and five dishes. But if you go there after 1 pm, they don't refill the food trays unless you ask for. We went there several time, it was always like this! Too bad. We ate there on Wednesday a few times, the waitress was not very friendly. Forget about this restaurant!

Chive dumplings, this is to serve as a note to any of you bold enough to try their food. I'd forgotten about this detail and ordered everything but. Elizabeth W. (review) mentioned that an experience here can be hit or miss. It was a miss for us, my group was not impressed with their food and service. Our night was supposed to begin with a great Thai dinner at Tub Tim Thai which is Michelin rated but they close nightly at 9 pm. Due to location we opted for Siam's House. Woe were we, was it a poor choice. The decoration in here or lack thereof could be appreciated by those that remember what hospital decor consisted of in the early 1980's. I wondered if the restaurant had served as a clinic at one time. An array of lightly used primary colors in the form of flora is what the wallpaper looks of. The kind of paper suited for a washroom. The speakers which are set in the ceiling are like those primitive form, once used in elementary schools and government buildings decades ago. The tabletop was thankfully clean but the advertising accents indicating the specials were thick of sticky residue. The dining area was crampt and the short hallway to the kitchen busy with needless crap. I'll stop from proceeding due to the fact that the amount of money we spent was needlessly wasted. Not one dish exalted any praise for the technique by their chefs and every entree came out separately as if there wasn't any care. I like when appetizers arrive and then dinner arrives for all. The place was dead except for our party and with all the time we spent sitting and waiting, this was a task they could have completed. Satay meats were okay. Basil whatever, was just that. Roasted duck tasted of nothing and was probably the most hated dish. My lad nar was and still is forgettable. A truly one star experience that is getting a two star because I'm choosing to be too nice. Oh and about the service. Our server could have been nicer. Dude was a bit too sassy if you ask me. When asking for explanations of cost & offering for one entree versus another, our waiter used a blatant sarcasm which was hard to read through his thick accent. At one point I wanted to smack the guy. Five diners and we all shared a regretful feeling for the loss of wasted, earnings.

I have never tried a deep-fried egg until I visited this place. Pretty damn good if you ask me. We (the wifey and I) had ventured off into a snow storm to head here. Four wheel drive can get you anywhere these days. =) We got here, got cozy, and our server greeted us with menus and waters in hand. If you're looking for some good Thai food in the Niles area I suggest you hit this place up. Here are some of the items I recommend: Spicy Basil Chicken Chicken Curry Fried Rice I'll make sure to recommend other things once I post an updated to this review. LOL. But for now trust me on these items, they're the bombDOTcom.

The only thai food I usually eat is all the way in lincoln square, Opart thai house. I wanted something closer to my home, so I decided to try this. I ordered the pad Thai and my cousin and I shared the egg rolls and chicken satay with peanut sauce. Everything was delicious. The pad Thai was a little greasy, but still good. The waitress was friendly and the food was reasonably priced. Good food at good prices. I will be going there again.

This is another comfort place for us. We've been coming to this restaurant for almost 5 years now. It has consistently delivered, in my opinion, in terms of taste and service. It's a small and simple place, maybe only 10 tables. The service can be a tad slow but then again, there's only 1 person taking your order and waiting on the customers. Definitely come here for the food!! Our favorites include: 1. BBQ ribs - so tender, price is just right for a full slab (almost $20) 2. Pad thai - can be greasy sometimes so I tend to order the shrimp pad thai instead of beef 3. Thai grilled chicken - our favorite! I couldn't believe we didn't know about this until we asked the server what her recommendations were! We never looked back! The sauces are what makes this dish!! Definitely a must try. 4. Iced tea - so good esp during summer! 5. Pork satay - the chicken can be dry sometimes. When I tried the pork satay, this became our go-to appetizer. The peanut sauce is so creamy. My only qualm is they don't offer catering. :(

awesome place for Thai food! what to order: -Yum Pla Dook Fu - fried catfish salad, which is a specialty that you won't find at other Thai restaurants - fried chicken wings - absolutely delicious with the spicy sauce. order it with sticky rice to complete the meal - Bamee Noodles with BBQ Pork - this might not be what it is exactly called on the menu, but I order it this way in Thai and they know what I'm talking about. Make sure it's "hang" or dry, not in a broth - Som Tom - papaya salad, absolutely delicious - Nom Tok Beef - order it with sticky rice and spicy! - Pad Thai - it's good here, but really, you can get this anywhere now, it's a hole in the wall, and the typical Thai place with only one person serving all the tables, so it will take some time. patience is key here! you won't get upscale decor or 5 star service, but what you will get is good food. after all, isn't that what you came for?

Pathetic red curry.. Was told that's how it tastes in Thailand.. Would not recommend.. The waitress argues that's it's perfect and authentic

I have been enjoying the food from here for over 10 years. A friend lives nearby and we have frequently ordered from here. We tend not to stray too far from our favorites, only adding as we add guests to join us. This is a mom and pop Thai restaurant, no fancy cooking, no fancy garnishes and yes the restaurant is tattered at the edges but not dirty. What to order: Spring rolls (different than some but good avocado and cucumber wrapped in goodness, two large pieces sliced in 6 pieces each. Chicken pot stickers are always included. Beef salad, so perfect and ask for it spicy goodness,my fav. Green chicken curry is heaven. Then if you buy $30 (two appz, two entrees) they include 3 egg rolls for free. It is truly a bargain in the neighborhood. Order for pick up and enjoy a meal that night and plenty of left overs.

I love Siam House! I've been coming here for over a decade and always have been satisfied with my food. The service is pleasant and prompt. Basil duck, pad Thai, spring rolls and chicken satay are all my regular favs. I often order for pick up and they are always accurate on when my food will be ready. Simply the best Thai food I've had in this area. Definitely go in or order some to go!!!

I went here today based on the reviews. I was excited about eating some Thai food because it is one of my favorite cuisines. First I ordered a spring roll for appetizer which I have had at numerous places. It looks and taste nothing like what I had there. It is not suppose to be swimming in dark sauce and taste stale. It's supposed to be a healthier option to the egg roll. At least the waitress noticed i didn't eat but a bite if it but then she told me that is how a spring roll is supposed to look like--no it's not. I ordered pad Thai because if you mess that up I really can't recommend a place. It was alright. The shrimp were over cooked & still had their tails on. The noodles were good though and tastes okay--nothing special. A few pet peeves: when discussing a catering thing please take it somewhere where I don't have to hear it. Plus no staff should be eating food in the area where I can see you & where you made my tea. I'm sorry I chose to go there and will not be back.

I went there with my two sons, we ordered two entrees and two appetizers. It was a huge amount of food. While the menu clearly stated a $2.50 charge for sharing, I am appalled by this practice, we ordered more than we could eat, including the most expensive meal on the menu. Minus one star for charging for sharing with kids. The shrimp curry was good, but minus one star for leaving the tails on, that's just lazy. The waitress was nice and worked hard, but she was alone, the place was understaffed. I can't give them one star, the food was good, so two stars. Go there, but know to be patient, and know the deal. If I go again, it will be take out; they can't charge me for plate sharing and they can't give me slow service if I don't eat in their house..

Good Thai food but Do Order Individual dishes. DO NOT Go for their Lunch Buffet. I was not impress by their Lunch Buffet. Only 6 dishes to choose from and less vegetables and herbs when you eat the Pad Thai from their Buffet. Overall good to dine and order individual dishes which we're decent in price. Not too expensive.

Been going here for years. I actually used to take piano lessons across the street. This is the only Thai restaurant that my family likes to go to. We've been to Lai Thai, but the portions over there are more individual, while this is family style. The place has a homey feel to it with old fashioned furniture and wallpaper. I honestly haven't tried anything that I didn't like here, and my family orders A LOT of food when we dine. What I like about this place is that if you ask for a dish or ingredient to be substituted, they will gladly do it for you. There are also a few dishes that they serve off the menu, from what I've noticed. The Pad Thai used to be a little on the dry side, but on my most recent visit, it was perfect. My parents love the steamed mussels in a lemongrass basil broth and that gets devoured quickly. My dad has tried a few times to make it at home, but it never comes close! It's like comfort food. I have tried majority of the curries (red, green, panang) and they are all great. When you ask for spicy, make sure you can handle it! All their dishes are well seasoned and full of flavor. For dessert, I would recommend their Coconut Custard. Not too sweet and creamy on the inside. They have the nicest servers as well. I don't know if it's just my love for red curry, but I can eat it for leftovers for days haha!

Amazing basil chicken, Dried beef, cucumber salad, Fish cake, & Thai Iced Coffee. Service is quick & friendly & waitresses always have smiles on their faces. I have a Thai teacher & he told me their cooking is equal to his mom's Thai home cooking.

Was introduced to this place by two friends who have been going here for over 10 plus years. Now, we've been going for at least 10 years. THE EAT LIST: 1) Chive Buns - Appetizer - 3 for like $3ish - Not on regular menu. Listed on Small table special menu, behind Wine Special. Just unique soft chewy texture that's more "noodle like" not "bready" with Chives , Golden Fried and topped with Fried Garlic and soy sauce based sauce that goes nicely with the buns. Love these snacks. 2) Angel Wings - Stuffed Chicken wing with Vermicelli Noodles and other goodies. Deep fried and boneless. Different and tasty. Always wows our friends. 3) Siam House Ribs - $17 Full Slab - Our favorite Dish here - Boiled Ribs that are Charred over Charcoal - with their House Sauce that makes these ribs ROCK OUT! My wife who's a picky rib eater, orders these all the time. 4) Chicken Basil - Traditional Prep with Ground Chicken and Basil with Green and Red Peppers. Solid dish that hits the right balance of salty and spicy. Another goto dish we always order. 5) Pad Thai - Another traditional dish prepared expertly. It's the one dish I always order at every Thai restaurant I eat at and this one ranks near the top. My friends always order this when I take them back here. 6) Grilled Calamari - Delish. Nuff said. 7) Thai Fried Chicken - Not On Menu - BIG SECRET! - Must ask for. Their Sauce makes this dish. Just packs a nice punch of flavor that makes your mouth go WOW! A must Try. ATMOSPHERE: Eh. Simple.Cozy. Nothing mind blowing. SERVICE: Slow sometimes cause they usually have only one waitress/waiter on staff and yes sometimes the dishes come out slow but we've gotten to know everyone so we don't judge them too harshly and maybe more kindly and more patient with them PARKING: Strip Mall Parking. Plentiful. This restaurant isn't much to look at, but don't let it look's fool you cause the Food is Da Bomb! :p

The best pad thai! Must try the fried catfish salad, papaya salad, and chicken wings. The pad see ew has kale instead of broccoli and it is delicious! Everything is freshly made with generous portions. There is also a lunch buffet during the week.

Siam's House is the best place for Thai food in Chicago, period. I am half Thai and have been to Thailand three times and Thai food doesn't get any better than this outside of Bangkok. For the past 15 years, Siam's House continues to be my favorite restaurant in all of Chicago. Since I am a regular, I have asked the owner to make a special dish. It's their house fried chicken tossed with a special sauce. It's sweet, salty, sour, spicy - all of the flavors of Thailand in one fried juicy bite. You will not find this dish anywhere since it's the chef's creation. I call it Gai Mai (meaning new chicken in Thai). It's not on the menu but you must order it and you will seriously be amazed. I have taken two pictures of it and uploaded them for you. Even though I no longer live in the area, I still make it point to go out of my way to this restaurant because it is one of the few Thai places in the Chicagoland area that is really authentic. The interior could use some updating and the service can be slow but the food really speaks for itself. The flavors are simply amazing. Even the most common dishes such as pad thai and pad see yew are noticeably remarkable. On top of that, the portions are larger and the prices are reasonable. The dishes that I recommend are pad thai, pad see yew, roast duck over rice, panang curry, spicy basil duck, and fried chicken with papaya salad and sticky rice. These are the must haves when dining here. You'll immediately notice the taste in quality since everything is handled by the head chef and owner - no part time cooks at this establishment. After dining here, you will realize how Thai food should really taste. Welcome to Siam's House.

We have gone their for years and the food is good. It seems the owners change ever so often and prices go up and up. It's was one of the better deals in the area at one time. Environment is good, but you get little service when it is packed. You better walk out if you see all table full.

The restaurant is located in a small strip mall, nothing fancy looking. A couple of us were thinking Thai and we saw some good reviews so we decided to give it a shot. Wow were we surprised! We ordered the usual Thai staples and some other house recommendations like the fried catfish salad. I had never seen this on a Thai menu anywhere so I'm assuming it's a very authentic dish. It was extremely delicious! What I really liked about the Pad Thai was the fact the ingredients were "chunkier" than most Pad Thai's out there. They definitely didn't skimp on the tofu and shrimp. Overall the quality was higher than we had expected and we'll definitely be back!

Stopped in after seeing how well reviewed Siam's House was. Pretty disappointed after all was said and done. Very small restaurant tucked into a strip mall. Only had one table which seated more than four. Said table was an absolute mess; disgusting. After being seated and literally looking up, we noticed the active mold growth on the ceiling, sporing just next to a their running air conditioning vent. Our "clean" napkins, no surprise, had dust on them. Grease, grime, dust and mold seemed to envelope this place everywhere we looked. Their "buffet" sadly consisted of six items... Yes, six items. Two noodles dishes, ground chicken, egg rolls, steamed vegetables, and fried rice. For $9.00, you get what you pay for. Most of the food was old when we got in, but they did restock after we ate said old product. It was mainly edible, however everything seemed lackluster and very dry, aside from the oil-bathed vegetables. I wonder when the last time the Health Department paid Siam's a visit. That, or what their take is to look the other way. Our single made-to-order Fried Rice dish was proportionate to its price, but took over 20 minutes to arrive. Service left much to be desired as well. Not often do you sit down at a buffet and watch your dirty dishes pile up at your table...no clean up service AT ALL! We all stared at our leftovers plates piling up throughout our lunch. Very poorly run and staffed. Highly disappointing lunch trip to Siam's, and we will NOT be returning. Very sketchy joint, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like... P.S. Within 15 minutes, my stomach was kicking my ass... Immediate bowel dissatisfaction and regret.

I honestly am not sure why there are so many great reviews about this place. It is at best okay, my husband and I both said it would be a 6.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. The Panang needs more coconut milk or something. It is way darker than we have ever had it. And the Tom Ka soup is missing coconut milk as well. Honestly, the food was not bad, it just was not that good. The service that we received was very good. The food was ok.

My family is a regular customer of Siam's House. This place is one of the very few places to find authentic Thai food in Chicago with affordable prices. It is a bit of a drive for non-suburbans but it is worth it!

Over all this place is really good. The decor is awful, of course, but the lady who served us was very nice and helpful. Everything, (with the exception of my dish), was very good. We wanted to do a little sampling of the food having never been there, so we ordered the crab claws appetizer - a bit smelly but very tasty, tom yum soup - delicious, basil fried rice with chicken - requested spicy- very good, pad thai - your typical pad thai, and the Siam's House noodles. That was the only dish I didn't care for. On the menu it says that it's the same type of noodles as the pad thai but when I got it, it was the HUGE rice noodles that I just happen to dislike no matter how they're prepared. No big deal really, since we had so much other food. The only real downside about this place is there lack of curry dishes. One of my favorites is red curry chicken and veggies and if they had had it, I would not have gotten the crappy rice noodles! I would definitely go back and try another dish though:)

Damn! How could I have missed the chive dumplings??? I spent fifteen minutes going over the menu-it wasn't until after dinner that I saw the sticky table card with the specials. It was lost behind the card advertising trips to Thailand. Regardless, the food was fantastic. I had red panang beef, medium, though it tasted pretty mild to me. The tom yum soup was spicier, very good. I can't remember what my husband had-chicken breast in some kind of sweet chili sauce-very tasty, he loved it. Mom and kid like it bland with cashew chicken and sweet and sour chicken-thumbs up on both of those. I felt the portions were too small-blame my big, fat American appetite, I wanted more, it was soooo good. If I hadn't read the reviews of this place first, I might have walked right out. I was a little turned off by the duct-taped plastic tablecloths and peeling metal chair backs...just a bit too shabby. Service was slow but that's ok, the poor server was the only one there and she didn't stop moving for a minute, she did everything...bussed tables, took orders, refilled water, served food, worked the cash register. We made sure she was tipped well. I can't wait to go back here, maybe carryout next time.

I just moved to morton grove and was looking for a good thai restaurant. Been to 2 so far. Then read this 2010 article by Steve dolinsky and mentioned this place as one of the "honorable" thai restaurants in chicago. I ordered to go pad thai beef, pad see ew and they recommended a new dish which is beef w/ curry. The food were ok but if you're in the morton grove and niles area, I prefer to go to the one on waukegan and beckwith.

Great food. OK service. OK decor. Very reasonable prices. Only Caucasian in the busy eatery. Good sign! I will return to eat again.

Awesome place! Great food, great service, what more can you ask? I had the tom yum soup and the Thai salad with chicken (i think it was called lank....#29 on the menu.) Not as good as some home cooked Thai food I have enjoyed before (only reason it is not 5 stars!), but still awesome. From all that I know about Thai food, its pretty authentic. I asked them to make it extra spicy, but they did not comply :(. Also, I was given a fork and spoon instead of chop-sticks. But alas, the food was excellent, and that's all that really matters!

My family's been coming here for more than ten years. Even after I moved away for the past ten years, I'd always try and stop to order take-out when I come home. Now, that I am back, I've been coming here pretty regularly. We love the following dishes: Won ton soup (one of the best I've had in a long time!), angel wings, egg rolls (it's free with takeout orders), spring rolls (it comes with sauce all over, you can ask for sauce on the side. I personally like the house sauce...), roast duck over rice (delicious!), basil duck (yes, duck is one of my favorite meat!), and their green curry with pork! They give a lot of food and we've never left still hungry.

Place pretty much has been summed up by everyone else. Yes it can be cold, their are thai people there, and the food is amazing. Wear a sweater and suck it up cause the food is delicious.

If it was completely based on the food I would give their basil chicken (gotta add a fried egg on top) 5 stars hands down. Unfortunately the service is what brought it down to 3 stars for me. I placed a carryout order today for basil chicken. She quoted me 15 to 20 min which seemed like a long time for just basil chicken. I wasn't too far away when I called so I actually got there in 5. When I walked in there were no customers in there and the waitress was sitting at a table texting on her phone. She barely looked up at me to greet me. I told her that I would also like a Thai ice tea to add on to my order. She say ok and that it would be a little but longer. I looked at her a little longer and then had to say that I would actually like the drink now. She said ok but still finished her message she was reading before getting up. She made my drink and she made me a Thai ice coffee instead of the tea. When I told her it was wrong she looked at me as if I ordered it wrong. I know what I ordered and had she not been on her phone she might have heard me correctly. She makes the correct drink then goes and grabs my food. Apparently it was ready the entire time. Bad service isn't worth good food in my book...

Great food! We had the roast duck over rice with gravy, curry rice, crab dumplings, chicken satay, and pad thai with shrimp. Everything was yummy. Prices were very reasonable for dinner....about $14 per person for all that food with thai coffee. Not a bad deal at all....I'll definitely be a repeat customer.

We love Amrind's (close to Oak Park), though this place is really good as well. We loved the vegetable dumpling (non-fried) that comes with a very tasty sauce. The tom yum soup was really good (and they claim they made it veg. for us). The green curry was good though for some reason it tasted better the next day! Overall, this is going to be a new favorite place for thai food as we don't live in Oak Park anymore.

I just returned from Siam's House, and I have to say it is a house I will not be visiting any time too soon. All I have to say is that this place is frigid. This in reference to both the restaurant itself as well as the service. It is a chilly March day, as often it is in Chicago, and we ventured there per the recommendation of several fellow yelpers. We were greeted, eventually by a woman wearing a heavy winter parka, and upon being seated it was clear that the temperature in the restaurant was about equal to, if not colder than it was outside. My lunch-mate looked at the buffet which was kinda gray and unimpressive, and decided she would prefer to order from the menu, I on the other hand decided to brave the buffet. The waitress came over, and didn't say anything other than "Buffet" i nodded and my companion said that she preferred to order from the menu. She disappeared, came back threw a couple menus down then stood there with her pad waiting, again saying nothing. When asked if she could substitute wide noodles in the pad Thai the answer, unsurprisingly was "NO" That was the last we saw of the waitress except when she brought my soup (which tasted like nothing but cilantro) and when she brought the check. The food itself was decent, everything on the buffet was kinda lukewarm (possibly due to the fact that the restaurant was barely above freezing) It was also very forgettable. Maybe I am biased because I live 3 blocks from Argyle and am spoiled by fantastic Asian cuisine, but maybe it just isn't as good as everyone else seems to think it is. I will not be rushing back here anytime soon, I was sitting there wishing I had gone to the McDonald's across the street...Enough said!

Yum - we finally found some decent Thai food in the area. Tried a few others and wasn't satisfied. Decided to go there after reading reviews here. I was a little nervous but was happy to see a Hungry Hound recommendation hanging up in the restaurant. We sat and waited for our order and noticed that the place is pretty busy. We didn't see the specials board until too late - it's hidden behind the large fish tank. We liked the pad thai and house noodles. The egg rolls and crab rangoon were tasty too. The food was solidly good--not fabulous--and we'll definitely be back to try the chive dumplings.

most of my reviews say this (because i eat at a lot of thai restaurants) but with over 10+ yrs living in thailand the mixture of great service and very authentic taste, this place is probably one of the best thai restaurants. it is a bit oily but def not a dealbreaker. i make the 20+ mi drive to eat there all the time. the decor. the ambiance. all very thai. love it!

The best authentic Thai restaurant in the suburbs. It is a bit of a hike but well worth it. You have to try the grilled calamari and pla dook foo which is a fried crispy airy catfish (very few restaurants attempt to make this).

Best Thai food ever!! I still can't eat spicy food but I always attempt it. I fail miserably every time but I can't resist trying. It doesn't help when I go there with all men most times and that have competions of who is eating the most food and who is eating the most spicy food. I love their pad thai-phenomenal! Their chicken satay and angel wings are the best appetizers. Tried the fried tofu the other night-it wasn't that exciting but I didn't really expect it to be. They refill your beer immediately especially when you chug it because you are eating spicy food! Last time we went we had Crying Tiger-a spicy beef salad, Fried Catfish salad (tasty), Duck Basil(very tasty but too spicy for me), dried beef with sticky rice-awesome! We always leave full and unless the boys are dying to compete we usually have great leftovers for the next day! Definitely go there-even if you don't live near by.

Food was okay, the waiting time was EXTREMELY long!! They probably need a standardized procedure for processing orders because lots of people who came in later obviously had their food first. The waitress could have told the customers how long it will take to prepare the food instead of making them wait for almost one hour. For those who want to go, call at least one hour ahead even for dining in!

It's a sad day for me. I've been dreading writing this review, since I've been a long time patron (15+years). The consistency is gone. There may have been a cook change just this year. I've been eating the basil chicken for years, but the last few times it was different. Instead of being juicy and flavorful, there is a distinct burnt taste and dry. Overall the food is still decent, but not what I've been accustomed to all these years.

My dining companion suffers some nasal type issues.. when that happens she likes Tom Yum or Tom something soup. It's a Thai staple. Whatever it was called.. it's the best I ever had, ever. A perfect level of spicy and tasty.. very very good. Lunch was good, don't get me wrong but the soup was the star of that meal. Be sure to check out the lawyers awning across the street from the restaurant. Truth in advertising indeed

We have been looking for a great ASIA place for the last few years, guess I just found what I was looking for! My husband and I went for a Thursday night dinner, I said "let's try it, it is right in town!" The decor is nothing to write home about, it's an old strip mall and this place fits right in. But I didn't go for the decor! I went for the food! I had the Pad See Ewe, with shrimp. One word: EXCELLENT It came out fast and was fresh made! My husband had the beef with broccoli. Tender broccoli and lots of Beef! He was a happy guy! We will go back again, I think we found our newest favorite place!

Great Food, Addicted to the basil chicken. But they need to change their hours I have called several times now at anywhere between 9p and 930p and they say they closed early or you get no answer because they closed earlier. Which sucks big time.

Really great service, very kind and polite waitress. I had the curry rice and the house pad thai but it wasn't up to my expectations. The place also needs to be remodeled but they do have a buffet almost every day from 11-2 i think, so that's a plus! I would recommend it but not as my #1 thai place but rather 3rd or 4th. Still worth going into if you're in the area though! :]

This place is very hit or miss. Sometimes the service is great, other times it's pretty bad and you can't expect everyone's meals to arrive at the same time, or even close to it. The scallion pancakes/chive dumplings are excellent, and this is what keeps me coming back. Many Thai restaurants don't serve them, or only have them as a special one day a week. Siam's House has them every day! Also, their spicy sauces are actually spicy. I have been here with a few people who like their food to make them sweat, and they didn't leave disappointed. I've never eaten a bad-tasting meal here, but I have eaten cold ones because of waiting for the other food to arrive. My advice: cruise past and see how busy it is inside before committing to a meal here. If it's packed and there's only one server, you will probably be screwed and you should go elsewhere. If there aren't many people in the dining room or more than one server is working, grab a table and gorge on moist, delicious scallion pancakes until you wonder if you'll have room for the sweet, tempting pad si ew. I'll only eat here now when the place is dead, but I won't give it up because of those scallion pancakes. Sometimes I think I would do bad, bad things for them.

Went to this place based on Yelp reviews. My wife and I went on a Tuesday night and it was completely empty. I liked that they had Thai beer. My started with the shrimp roll appetizers and they were average. My wife ordered the Pad Thai and I got the garlic chicken. Pad Thai was good, but nothing fantastic. The garlic chicken was really disappointing. The chicken was okay but the dish was just that -- chicken and rice. No veggies, no color. I was really disappointed. Overall, I found this nothing more than an average strip mall Thai place.

You know it's a pretty special dish when your mother will pick you up some take out comprised of a dish she already knows how to make! That's right, my Thai mom will concede that her spicy basil chicken takes a back seat to Siam's House's. It is especially great the day after with a runny fried egg on top sprinkled with sriracha. But there is a challenger to the crown: crispy catfish with long beans in red curry sauce. Paired with sticky rice it's a fantastic textural adventure. The restaurant itself is unassuming and the staff are nice, smiley Thai folk. Take out is super quick and I can't wait to try the lunch buffet when I make my way out to the burbs some week day.

A lot of Thai people seem to like this place as "authentic" Thai, although I feel that might've changed a little bit, but don't quote me on that. What's definitely true is that "Chives Dumpling" is really awesome, especially with the sauce it comes with and I love the Spring Roles. Crab Rancoon is also great and the Papaya Salad isn't too bad, I liked it. It seems very spacious inside but from the outside you could never tell. One thing I can also say, is that during the cooler season it's best not to take the window seat, the heating just won't cover it, but in the warmer days it's a nice location because it feels like a private table. All in all, great food, nice place, only one server though.

Top-five Thai restaurants that I've been to lately, For Thai food good portion for the price. I really like the fried chicken appetizer. Basil chicken had no sauce but have plenty of flavor. Should be served with flat noodles in it. Just ask for a side of noodles. Nice to have a free appetizer included with my order. Definitely my go to place for Thai food today.

This is a homey restaurant in the middle of a European strip mall. The food is consistently good here, large portioned and reasonably priced. This is on our take-out list rotation. Their crab finger appetizers are great- they give you approx. 10 meaty claws which has a garlic sauce for about $7. The pad thai is more like a home-cooked pad thai as it's drier (less of that orangy sauce you get from other places) and has thicker rice noodles. Their crab fried rice is delicious, definitely full of crab. The curries are good. Pretty much every dish we've tried there was good, with the exception of the Yum Pia Dook Fu with Catfish Salad- we ordered it the first time we went there and boy was it hot and sour!! I cried throughout the meal because there were tons of chili and vinegar in the dish. Highly recommended if you like torture, otherwise stick to everything else.

This place may look a bit unassuming when you walk in, but it is pretty good, authentic Thai food. I love the green curry! It's flavorful, a good balance of spicy and sweet, and they give you heaps of veggies. It's a yummy lunch, and I really enjoyed it! I recommend checking it out if you're in Niles.

My family and I ate here while on vacation last week. The service was fast and food was very delicious. We ordered 4 types of appetizers and 4 main dishes to share amongst each other. The crab fried rice, chicken pad thai, and thai grilled chicken were fabulous. The sweet n sour chicken was tasty, but not what we were expecting (not like the chines version). The sum tum, satay, and spring rolls were great as well. We will be eating here again when we go back to Chicago.

This is our prefered spot for Thai food, despite the fact we pass several other (good)Thai restaurants to get there. We discovered Siam's House via the LTHForums, where it is described as among the best Thai food in Chicago. We agree! The food is excellent, especially if you are daring enough to try the less Westernized offerings. Service, however, can be a challenge. On a calm night they can be slow, and definately expect to wait when they are busy. On the other hand, the staff are very friendly, and if you can afford to wait, it's well worth it. The ambience is also minimal. Frankly, this is not a place you go for ambience, I suggest looking to the more upscale Thai places like Arun's if looking for that.

located in an unassuming strip mall in niles, Siam's house is a yummy and chill place to get some thai food. My two friends and I came on a Sunday evening. They both ordered pad thai... and I got ground basil chicken. Their dishes were average, I mean, I don't think you judge a thai restaurant on its pad thai, it's such a generic and american dish. However, my one friend asked for her pad thai to be extra spicy and it was...well... not. It might have had a HINT more spice than the regular one, but even that was questionable. So she asked for some hot sauce. My basil chicken was quite yummy and had a good amout of spice. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely up there. I'd like to come back to this restaurant and try some more dishes, possibly the papaya salad and some others. This place is definitely better than the myriad of uber Americanized thai restaurants out there, though. Give it a try!

The best Thai food in the NW suburbs!! I've been a customer for years, but not often enough during the past year. I went last night with my family after several months and remembered what we've been missing. They have the best fried chicken, chive dumplings, shrimp paste fried rice, basil chicken (very spicy please), and beef ball pad ped (extra Thai eggplant)! We ordered too much food, but it was equally good as leftovers today! Thanks Siam's House!!

Just about every Thai restaurant I've ever been to usually has half-decent to great service but this place was absolutely terrible. The waitress couldn't crack a smile at all and looked like we were inconveniencing her by dining at the establishment. Oh, I'm "so" sorry that you have to do the job you're paid to do. And for someone who speaks Thai, I don't understand how she doesn't get the question, "Is this 'red curry' the same thing as 'panang'?" I would say the food was definitely edible but by no means considered "delicious" or authentic enough. The prices on the menu looked reasonable until the food came out. Papaya salad is usually one of my favorites but this place ruined it for me; a portion barely enough to feed a single person, terrible seasoning and the dried shrimp lacked flavor. The soup, curry and noodle dish were better but still very disappointing. I wish they had asked me how my meal was when they dropped off the check because I would've had a handful of things to say but they don't seem to care. Maybe I'm just spoiled from awesome Thai food everywhere else.

This has become our go-to Thai place in the area. The appetizers we've tried are the shrimp and veggie tempura, the crab fingers, and the egg rolls. For entrees, we enjoyed the green curry, the pad thai, the pad siew, the basil beef, and one of my favorites, the crab fried rice. Cheap, good portioned and tasty.

I am an avid Thai food lover and if you want genuine, excellent Thai food this is the place to go. The atmosphere is nothing special, but I chalk that up to feeling as if you are going to someones house and having them ask if you'd like something to eat. Their Basil Chicken is amazing, and my husband will go out of his way to have the Crying Tiger with a size of sticky rice. The service is friendly and informative and the prices are very reasonable. Love this restaurant!

Best authentic Thai restaurant. Crab fried rice excellent with real crab meat. Fried chicken is the best, crispy. Yum pla dook foo is very tasty. I can eat here every week if only it is closer to me. The best Thai restaurant so far.

  • S D.

Siam's House has flavorful food that is fairly authentic. There are usually some Thai customers, and that adds to the atmosphere. The prices are right. The restaurant is dimly lit however, and not very clean. Add to this pedestrian service, and it takes away from what would otherwise be one of the better suburban Thai restaurants in Chicagoland.

Best Thai food I've had since I moved to Chicago; Of course I haven't visited the ultra-authentic places north of downtown which serve giant water beetles, fish kidney curry, etc... Tried a few of their items on their specials board as well as some old standby's: Thai Grilled Chicken $7.25 1) Most outstanding dish of the day, consisted of HALF chicken, marinated then grilled perfectly, smoky, moist and served with a spicy sour tamarind sauce and a sweet & sour sauce - excellent and great value Chive Dumplings 1) Pan-fried to perfection, crisp-bottomed, chive filled, topped with fried garlic crumbles Som Tom 1) Small portion of shredded green papaya, dried shrimp, green chilis and Chinese long beans 2) Made the mistake of eating one of those small green chilies, which dot the dish like landmines, having mistook it for a segment of Chinese long bean; My mouth has never been in so much physical pain. I was searching the menu for some dairy item/drink to take away the searing, tear-inducing misery Shrimp Pad-Thai 1) Decent rendition - the girl likes pad-thai wherever we go, although I prefer pad woon sen. Saw an adjoining table order crab fried rice, crab fingers (which consisted of bisected crab claws) and pad thai. I had to give a chuckle as the girl at that table gave the menu a long thorough read through and finally said, "I think I'll go with the pad thai." Did you really need to open the menu? If I had a nickel for every pad thai... This restaurant offers a host of fairly authentic dishes, so go OFF the menu, order the specials, and if you're REALLY adventurous, order off the translated Thai menu. YES, that's right, there's a TRANSLATED THAI MENU that you have to ask for - only downside is that there aren't any prices on that menu. Ambiance/Service: Nothing fancy, 1-server, looks family-owned/operated, exceedingly slow - but well worth it (especially when we got that truly grilled chicken); Filled with Thai patrons. Small parking lot. Conclusion: Best Thai I've had so far; Good value; Food made with care and patronized by Thai people; Menu items off the beaten path. We will definitely be back as this is now one of our favorites. Aside: Try the polish deli next door for a dizzying array of smoked meats, sausages, prepared foods, etc. See pictures above.

I love Siam's House (with a couple of exceptions). The food is number one and while service can sometimes be a little unpolished, the waitresses are always friendly and accommodating. Dishes are prepared medium spicy, which is just my taste. Particularly tasty are the panang beef and pork larb--I can lick the plate when I'm done, those are so good. That being said, the place can be cold in the winter. And one time during the summer when I went for lunch, the place was suffocatingly hot. When I asked the waiter about it, he said he didn't want to turn the A/C on because the owner didn't like it unless the place had more customers! I couldn't believe it--but he turned the A/C on anyway.

Based on my experience alone, I wanted to give Siam's House 3 stars, but I see the potential, the food I had was good. I just won't eat the lunch buffet again. I was "kidnapped" by my boss and taken to the "Thai buffet" as he said. The first thing i noticed was there was a sign on the door that said if you eat the buffet and you waste food (leave too much on your plate) then you will be charged an additional fee, which I found to be odd. We were seated, and my boss told the waitress we'd like to have the buffet w/ soup. They brought out the soup which seemed like water with cilantro, green onions, straw mushrooms and chili oil in it. It wasn't bad but tasted like spicy cilantro water, just as I suspected by how it looked. The buffet was the smallest buffet I've ever seen. It was also mostly bare. We had to actually wait for them to bring out two dishes from the back before we even had food to eat! There were eggrolls, a vegetable stir fry with tofu, spicy basil chicken, and wide rice noodles with vegetables and chicken. The dishes were tasty, but I know next time to order off the menu!

THE BEST THAI FOOD, hands down. I love this place, and I have been eating here for years. It is super authentic (There are always many Thai in and out of here for lunch and dinner) I recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai food, or anyone who is searching for a great place to eat!

I've only had the green curry here, but that's because it's so good that I can't force myself to stray away from it. For it's location, it's fantastic. A welcome oasis in the desert of fast food chains that is milwaukee avenue. The lunch buffet looks a little meager (six tins of food that don't seem to be refilled too quickly) and service seems a little slow....BUT get the green curry and be happy.

CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!!! This is a hole in the wall type of place so there's nothing fancy here. Service definitely lacks but the food and price make up for it 100%. This is one of the only thai restaurants that I've noticed actual Thai people eating at. That must mean that the food is authentic and DELICIOUS. Foods I've tried.. -lard nar: yummers. i wanna drink the gravy... -pad thai: eh...average -pad kee moa: the BEST i've had so far -spicy basil thai fried rice: really spicy but delicious -something with duck: eh...really ducky :) My huge upset about this place is their goldfish tank. It's really nasty, dirty and jammed packed with oversized goldfish. I dare not eat facing the goldfish tank or else it'll probably make me pretty sick.

I have been in love with this place for a while now. I can't speak to authenticity...but I can speak to what I like, and this is the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to. I am always bringing new people here, and they all seem to enjoy whatever they order. The prices are more than fair, the portions are generous, the flavors are FANTASTIC...what I consider to be the ideal balance of spice. Definitely stop by when in the neighborhood, but honestly this place is worth a trip.

I passed-by this restaurant one evening, and I haven't had any Thai food since I've moved to Chicago, so I decided to have my dinner there. First, I had their Tom Yum soup...wow! Very good soup....it makes me sweat, I just love spicy food. Then I had Green Curry Chicken with steam white rice...ah! after that I'm full because I finished the rice and there's no curry left in my bowl! I suddenly thought that I'm in Thailand coz people around me speak Thai and the food really tasty, it just like the food that I had during my trip to Thailand. I definitely be back to this restaurant to have other item in the menu.

Siam's House = my family's go-to place for good Thai food. I've learned to love Thai cuisine from this place. Love their spring rolls, chicken satay, spicy basil chicken, pad thai, and crab fried rice. Either buying take-out or dining in, you're sure to be satisfied. Recently my parents and I dined in and had a pleasant experience. It's a quaint space, casual, and low-key. The waitress was kind, polite, and always smiling. Service was fast and the Thai iced coffee was yummy!

I'm only giving this restaurant 4 out of 5 because the lunch buffet is always LATE!!! Highly recommend the Shrimp Pad Thai, Sea Food Noodles Deluxe that has squid, shrimps and mussels with Thai veggies. The spring rolls are also tasteful which will make vegetarians happy. I only go here to pick up food because the place is so so small and it's always packed specially during evening hours. Highly Recommended!!!

yummy thai eatery that never disappoints. the restaurant can use better decor, and a remodel though. it's a tad bit overpriced, for the portions, imo.

5 stars is for the food alone! Many Thai people have told me, its much like the food you would find in Bangkok and that many people from the Thai consulate dine here. I've been there many times and it never disappoints!!! We usually go out to eat in the city, but there is no casual Thai restaurant better than this place in the city...definitely worth the drive! I'm not here for the ambiance but its definitely the place to get your grub on! Chive dumplings yum!!!

Thai food buffet? Yes, please! Siam's has a modest selection (6-7) of dishes for the buffet, but one and a half plates of some pad thai, pad se ewe, basil chicken, fried rice, and egg rolls filled me up! It's best to go right when it opens for fresh, warm food because it takes some time for them to fill the buffet back up sometimes. Small place. No frills. Buffet is $8.95 per person. Friendly waitress. Not bad. Not bad.
