Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

As a Chicago native who has at times lived away from Chi-town for too long, I highly value my deep-dish pizza. OK, obsessed with deep-dish pizza would be fair. When I moved back home a while back, checking out the current state of the Chicago pizza world became a priority. I will refrain from dissing the competition in this review, however, I can now confidently award Nancy's as the current reining champion "most authentic Chicago stuffed pizza." Gorgeous hand-made crust, just thick enough, with that perfect crispy-chewy texture. Is it a little burnt on the edges here and there? Hell-yea, it's real! Fresh tomato sauce with a few chunks of tomato and plenty of garlic? Hell-yea! Loaded with ingredients like sausage, spinach, mushrooms and stringy melted four-cheese blend? Hell-yea! Any other comments are really superfluous. Atmosphere is your basic neighborhood Italian place. Our waitress was a grand-daughter of Nancy herself and kept everything on track. Prices are fair. So there it is. If you want a great Chicago deep-dish pizza, this is the place.

We were working down the street for a few weeks and when the job ended I wanted to buy the crew pizza. I remembered Nancy's from several years ago and called in a $100 order for pick up at 11:30am. The pizza guy had the pizza ready a few minutes early and asked me if we wanted drinks. I thanked him for asking since I forgot to order anything to drink. So I said I wanted a couple 6 packs of pop and asked how much $$$. He said forget it and hoped we enjoyed our lunch. I don't know why I stopped going there because the pizza was great. Everyone on the crew loved it. I went back a few weeks later and again great pizza, pan and thin. Great sauce, cheese and flavor. As good as Geno's and Lou's for pan pizza comparison. I can't comment on the rest of the menu or the service since all we got was pizza to go. Good stuff!

I have heard of Nancy's Pizza for quite some time but today was my first opportunity to try it as I was hungry and really wanted deep dish pizza. I saw prior yelp reviews and met the owner previously at a chamber of commerce event so my expectations were high going in. The restaurant was in a small strip mall and if I was not diligently on the look out for it I would have driven past it. Apparently even my gps didn't know where it was. The restaurant was a nice small cozy place with the red and white checkered tablecloths- it was right out of a movie. I picked up my large deep dish spinach pizza from the owner Fred and chatted with him for a few minutes. It was apparent his customers knew him well. Now the smell of the pizza in my car was driving me nuts and my dog was looking interested too but I did manage to contain myself and restrain my pooch from munching it prior to getting home. The pizza was hot and sliced all the way through. Its always annoying when they only cut it partially or don't cut it at all. After the first bight I was in pizza nirvana. No joke, texture, flavor and balance were in perfect harmony. The crust was thicker than I anticipated but nice and crunchy. The cheese was stringy and it had lots of spinach. The sauce was slightly spicy and the flavors alleviated any need for hot peppers, oregano or Parmesan. I used to be a fan of Giordano's and Edwardo's but I'm not sure I can even palate that after this experience. If there is such an experience as a pizza orgasm this is definitely it. Hmm now I will have to try their deep dish with sausage and their thin crust pizza... yes I'm full from eating half the pizza and still dreaming of eating more. As if this wasn't enough the menu has coupons, $2 off, free pizzas , free soda or 2- 12inch thin crust pizzas for $15=O. Its a nine mile drive for me well worth it. P.S. After reheating the deep dish pizza two days later the crust was still crispy.

This place is top notch. I've been going here for over 20 years and I have never had a bad experience. The pizza is very good, but I usually go for the Chicken Parmesan Dinner which is out of this world. My wife usually gets the fettuccine alfredo with shrimp and she loves it. I am a huge fan of baked clams and I have to say that I have never tried a baked clam anywhere that is better than Nancy's. If you like baked clams, do yourself a favor and get an order. You'll be glad you did.

I'm in "Chicago" on business (staying at a shitty airport hotel isn't really Chicago to me) and all I wanted was to try this whole Chicago deep dish pizza kind of thing. Of course, I went straight to yelp and it directed me to Nancy's. A couple reasons they get 5-stars: 1. The deep dish pizza was awesome. I don't think I'm a convert from New York style but it was damn good. Like, I may crave deep dish at times from now on good. 2. I ordered food online and after an hour called to see where it was... apparently they didn't get the order via online. When I placed it over the phone they found out I was waaaaaaaay out of delivery range. Instead of just saying sorry, can't help you, the guy rushed my order to me and had it delivered. Amazing service. Amazing.

Have not been to Nancy's in a while so I decided to go back. To be honest I was a little disappointed especially considering the solid reviews. This is stuffed pizza with two crusts which is different than the deep dish at Lou's and Gino's East. I just felt the pizza was a little bland and the sauce was too sweet and lacked character. The double crust was doughy and thick and I just discarding much of it. Normally the crust is my favorite part. For stuffed crust I liked Eduardo's better but Lou's and Ginos East are much better all around. I guess if you are from out of town and are not accustomed to the other choices Nancy's is fine but I see no reason to go back personally. Maybe I should just go there for pasta instead. In terms of the restaurant and service, pretty low key and dated environment.

Nancy's Pizza is a classic Italian diner with that "old school" feeling. To me, it is very similar to La Villa in Chicago but it is a smaller dining area. The waitress was very hospitable and friendly. I had the tomato cream vodka-infused sauce and gnocchi which was heavenly to the taste!!!!! My family had pizza. Again, it's your standard independent Italian neighborhood restaurant. I enjoyed it because they served good pizza and comfort food. If you order pasta, it comes with free all you can eat salad bar (can't complain about that!) I would definitely come back for some more!
(5)Irene P.
Growing up in Chicago, I KNOW what a stuffed pizza is supposed to both look and taste like! My fiance and I recently, (well two years ago, but time sure does fly!) moved to Austin, TX, where the best pizza comes from the Costco food court! I had no idea how much I'd really missed Pizza untill I walked into Nancy's! The minute you walk in, the smell of freshly baking pizza and simmering sauce with real garlic, (the way it should be!) accost your sences. It smells like a pizza place should smell! With it's rustic ambiance and fantastic salad bar complete with wilted spinach and brocoli sauted with garlic, can keep you buisy while your pizza is made from scratch! We ordered the Nancy's special stuffed pizza with extra garlic and spinach! Amazing!!! Our server happened toi be the owner, Nancy's (duh!) grandaughter. I spent all night trying to convince her to open one up in Austin!!! They can definately give Costco a run for their money ; )

I am a native chicagoan who once had the misfortune of pointing at the Nancy's Pizza (broadway) menu and saying " haha, and I bet that's Nancy".. Well, it was Nancy.. anyway.. I had to pick the Chucky Cheese sausage off of this pizza before I could eat it, the sauce was somewhat similar to Nancys and crust was obviously mass produced.. I think this pizza is more like a fast food profit-based pizza than I care to eat.. I wish I could say "nice try", but it is not.. You guys cut too many corners.. Now the pizza tastes like ketchup on a cracker.. Not good. Never again..

I go to Nancy's only sporadically. However, every time I go back I leave wondering what took me so long. For me it's the salad bar. It's a nice size with the best bread options above it! I usually order pasta because with the yummy breads on the salad bar, who needs pizza. Last time I ordered pasta with olive oil and garlic. It was delicious. Also like the pizza very much. For me the best days to go are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday because an order of pasta and salad bar costs around $7 or so dollars.

This is a one liner! Great food, excellent service and scrumptious pizza!
(5)kevin w.
Great deep dish Chicago style pizza. Don't let the strip shipping center location deter you
(4)Priscilla I.
I saw a Groupon for this place, and since I've been to the Nancy's in Lemont, I thought it would be similar. It's not even close. The stuffed pizza was tasteless and the buffalo wings were really bland. I'd rather drive out to Lemont than go to this place again.

Since my boyfriend lives within walking distance, we were really excited to discover this place! We usually get their thin crust pizza's because they have this coupon on the back of their take out menu that gives you 2 12" thin crust pizza's with up to 3 toppings each for only $13.99 plus tax! (which comes out to be $15.18) It's a lot of really good food for a really good price! Just today, we tried our first stuffed pizza from there and it was one of the best deep dish pizza's I've ever had! I would say it ranks just below Lou Malnati's and I am a HUGE fan of Lou's pizza! (They are also a few bucks cheaper than the Giordana's a few doors down.) We had the Nona's Special with the sausage, green peppers, mushrooms and onions and it was awesome! (There's also a $2 off coupon on the menu that can be used towards any pizza.) We usually order ahead and pick up our food, but one time we dined in and got their ribs. I would recommend just sticking to their pizzas. There also appears to be some online coupons at nancyspizza.com that might be worth checking out. Enjoy!!!

This place embodies everything that a Midwest, Chicago style, saying "melk" and "pellow" instead of "milk" and "pillow" type of joint that I love in the burbs. The walls are decked with various forms of memorabilia...softball team sponsorships, united way plaques from the 80's and who knows where they got that decor. Ambiance aside, this place has incredible pizza and pasta. I have been here numerous times and am a huge fan of the oohey-goohey lasagna with the mozz melted/toasted just right on top of a pile of meaty-cheesy-goodness. To top it off, the salad bar is really fresh and lots of veggies including breadsticks. From what I remember, their sandwiches are also worth trying. I wish that this place was closer - it would definitely be my #1 choice for delivery if they were in the city.

This place always sparked my curiosity and the reviews of this place also as well. I finally ordered delivery from this place. Simple and short here: I ordered a small pan pizza 12.50 and an order of breaded mushrooms 4.00. The pizza was good, what I expected and hoped. The mushrooms were average. Wet and juicy, I personally did not like the mushrooms. They weren't fresh. I got full with the meal. It was all for me and I had 2 pieces leftover. The pizza was cut into 4 pieces but these pieces are filling if you haven't had pan pizza before. Its lots of cheese. :) My total ended up being $21 including tax and delivery, tip was an additional $4. So $25 for all. The major comlaint I had was that the delivery took an hour, literally an hour. Their website said 30-45 min wait. When I asked the delivery man if I get a discount because it was past 45 min, he said No. Plus its kinda late to give me a discount since my debit card was already charged over the phone when I made the order. Does any pizza place still have a delivery guarantee anymore? I was so hungry it was a long hour and I was too tired to drive because I had worked all day. Ill probably order from there since its once of the few places that carries Pan Pizza but I will keep the one hour delivery wait in mind next time.
(3)Please note, this is in Niles, IL about 20 miles northwest of Chicago in the suburbs. Qype doesn't recognize it. If you want the best stuffed pizza and the best veal Marsala this is the restaurant you want to eat at!
(5)Kathy R.
Thanks go to Lindley E., whose review prompted me to try Nancy's deep dish pizza. It's among the best I've ever had (and I've tried many). I'm a sauce kind of girl, and their sauce is nearly perfect. It's a family owned restaurant, and they have a couple other locations. I realized when I looked at the menu that they also own the Nancy's in Harwood Heights, which I've been to many times. Eating here does evoke a feeling of Little Italy (the homey decor, the piped-in music, the salad bar). Many dishes on the menu looked tempting and, judging by the other patrons around me, I'd say Nancy's knows how to do Italian authentically. Next time around, I'm trying veal marsala. Nancy's deep-dish pizza: A+
(5)David P.
Best stuffed pizza in the world. The restaurant is cozy, the demographic is somewhat elderly and the wait staff is lax but you will not go wrong with the food. I really like their salad (which comes with pizza bread, no cheese and garlic bread) They have other great items like the Godfather Sandwhich.
(4)Tara M.
You want the best deep dish in the NW Burbs... head on over! I do not particularly like deep dish, but theirs is the absolute best! My husband loved it the first time I dragged him there for it and now we order our deep dish exclusively from them. The atmosphere is really comfortable, it's been there for years, my friends and I used to grab pizza there after movies, when we were in high school. I don't think they've changed their decor since they opened, but there's no need to when the food is so good! Seriously, if you like deep dish, you've got to stop in!
(5)Kristin B.
My family LOVES this place....not only is the food absolutely fantastic (especially the deep dish pizza and pasta primavera), but they have a very nice salad bar as well. The waitstaff is always extremely nice and efficient, and the place is usually pretty packed when we go, so you know that other people feel the same way that I do about Nancy's....go and you will not be disappointed!
(5)Lindley E.
Excellent deep-dish pizza -- if you like that sort of thing. I've only gotten take out from here but it is everything that the other reviewers have said...maybe more. The crust isn't sweet, the sauce is very good, and they are generous with the toppings. Definitely worth a stop if you are driving by it at night or at lunch or live nearby.
(4)Dean H.
The weather was horrible so rather than go out, we decided to order pizza for delivery. They had pretty good reviews and we were close so I figured this shouldn't be that difficult. I ordered the thin crust pizza. I have had much better crust than this. There was no flavor it was bland. There are several much better pizza's in the area than nancy's. To top it off, the delivery guy got stuck in the snow and needed to borrow a shovel. I asked him to set it on the side of the house when he was done. I saw the delivery guy drive away, so I went to check to see if he returned the shovel. It wasn't by the garage, not against the door or by the side. So I called Nancy's and they called the driver. After all of this conversation, they assured me that the shovel was there. The second time I went out to check and it was there. I am disappointed that I had to complain in order for him to come back and return it. Even after all of that, the pizza really isn't all that good and it was overpriced. Im going back to Moretti's or Sputinos, they have much better crust.
(2)Michael C.
You want Italian? Do you like a homey atmosphere? Cosey? Does it feel like you walked into "Little Italy?" Well, then you're at this Nancy's Restaurant! Their food is great, and the pizza is fabulous, especially the x-large thin crust, which really isn't thin, by the way! Just a great pizza that leaves you FULL! If you want deep dish, they have that, too. Their deep dish is layered, and almost like a stuffed pizza. Carry out is quick; delivered is fast also. They have a really ethnic Italian salad bar ( you liked pickled eggplant?? I do! ) that will remind you of your gramma's (Nonna's) house. The only thing that can be frustrating is that parking is sometimes hard to get in this strip mall due to the ethnic grocery store at the other end. Marissa and Fred (the owners) have tried everything for their customers for their parking. Just remember that there is parking behind the restaurant and on the sides. It's worth the trip! Don't forget dessert!
(5)Shannon C.
This is my favorite restaurant! It is very low key and has great food, service, and an unbeatable salad bar that includes pizza bread...can't beat that. Baked mostaccioli is one of my favories!
(5)Sandra F.
Our hands down favorite pizza place!! The stuffed pizza totally ROCKS! Great crust and the sauce has great tomato flavor, not too sweet. There is a nice little salad bar with addictive bread twists. There is always a nightly special so you can save more! Wednesday's, everything is on special! Note, this is the original Nancys. Occasionally, you will see Nancy at the restaurant! Great staff, they are always friendly. Just remember, it's a 45 minute wait for stuffed pizza - get an appetizer or call ahead if you're in a hurry. They also do a great job for parties...
(5)Gin G.
So close to home and our favorite "go to" for pizza had closed!!! So we tried this place. Did dine in once n carry out twice. First time was carry out. Was good. Just thin crust sausage n thin veggie. Wanted to dine in to try their stuffed cuz it looked so good sitting at the others' tables when we were picking up our thin crust order. Stuffed was good but I found the crust's edges a bit too crunchy n hard. Kids ordered spaghetti n meatballs. Meatballs were good! But the spaghetti was not. Sauce tasted a bit too "chef boy ar dee" to me. How does an Italian restaurant not make good spaghetti? Maybe they're just known for their pizza. Salad bar for $4 can be added to your meal. It was small with some sad looking veggies. Maybe it was just a off day for the salad bar. The third was Stuffed carry out. Doesn't travel well. Might just have to bite the bullet n drive a bit farther to grab Lou Malnati's.
(2)Kristy A.
Nancy's was pretty standard as far as pizza went. Onion rings were okay. Kinda soggy, pizza wasn't bad but the cheese was kind of rubbery and the wings were dry. Not really an awesome place. We are from out of town and will be coming to Chicago quite a bit this year and sadly Nancys won't be getting anymore of our business.
(3)MoMo K.
The pizza is good! Well worth it on Mondays when it's half off. The service is super slow though, we came in on Monday night and it was dead. The waiters were just mingling among themselves the entire time and did not care for our table. It was my first time in a restaurant where I was brought a Pizza to my table and after that the next time the waiter came without me getting up was to give me my check. The pan pizza is like a deep dish pizza, it's actually pretty good. I wouldn't say it's better then Pequods or Giordano's though. I would come here again on Mondays because it's so cheap, but I wouldn't bring your friend from out-of-state whose never tried deep dish pizza here. I didn't want to try the stuffed pizza, it looked like it was WAAAYYY too much cheese in the pictures. I can't handle that. Overall, food was 4/5, service was 1/5. You can have group dinners here. Free wifi, easy parking.
(3)Nellie G.
There is nothing really spectacular about this pizza. It almost tasted like straight from the freezer pizza. I hate writing bad reviews, but it is what it is.
(2)Mo M.
Great food all around. I've tried a variety of items off their menu and nothing has come short of excellent. Pizzas thin and stuffed are great, especially Mondays when they're half off. Salad bar is always stocked and fresh if you're ever dining in. Service is great as you definitely get the family restaurant vibes. Overall, great place!
(5)Sara R.
Just moved to the area and decided to try out this Nancy's considering I use to go to one in the city. I absolutely loved their pizza. They had patty sausage on the stuffed pizza I bought and the crust was definitely made a buttercrust style. I love it and I extremely recommend them. The owner is very nice as well.
(4)Eric V.
I've lived so close to this place for months and now I'm kicking myself for not coming here sooner! Monday 1/2 price any pizza and that was some serious stuff, haven't had good pizza like that since I lived on the south side. I normally don't eat mozzarella sticks, but it was absolutely amazing and piping hot fresh. Definitely going back!
(5)Jon N.
I'm a Chicago native of 30 years who has worked in pizza places. Nancy's has become my favorite Chicago pizza. I love their pies and their restaurants have a cool feel to them and good pricing. The staff at Golf Rd. has been friendly to me and took time to make sure what I was ordering would be best for my family. But honestly, even if everyone was a jerk I would eat here and you should too.
(5)Sherry S.
Went there for dinner on Saturday night. Had the stuffed pizza which was awesome. It was the best pizza I had in a long time and the crust was really great and the sauce was really good too. People in there were really nice and friendly and service was good too. Would definitely be going back there again to try the other types of pizza. They also have nightly specials and lunch specials too. They are well known for the stuffed pizza but every type of pizza I saw being served thin and pan looked good also.
(5)Sajid A.
Speaking to anyone on the phone is like torture for them. Every time I call to place an order they are so curt and can't wait to get off the phone. Forget about asking for recommendations. As far as the pizza it's pretty bland compared to giordanos but I've only tried limited items there
(3)Marylou T.
Came here with my boyfriend yesterday for the first time! I got the chicken parmigiana which came with salad bar and spaghetti! Salad bar was great! Veggies were fresh and dressing was very tasty! When our meals came out I was shocked by the size! It was a huge portion of chicken on the plate smothered with delicious melted cheese and sauce! And surprisingly the spaghetti was very flavorful, when I get this at Olive Garden the pasta is very bland!! Over all I was very pleased with my meal! We'll be back for sure!
(5)Natalia B.
They have a great stuffed pizza. A pizza that makes you want to come back to this place every week no matter how far you live. They have a special on mondays for half off pizza. Paying $14 for x-large pizza with two toppings sounds great to me. Their pasta portions are kind of small but really good as well. Chicken parmigiana is delicious as well. Customer service is great.
(5)Kathie T.
My husband and I love Nancy's and have been ordering or eating in for over 10 years! If U like extra thin crust, they have it. You must request extra thin. Their Italian Sausage sandwich is outstanding and pepper cooked the true Italian way. A lot of places don't cook them right. Lasagna is so outstanding, only my Mom's is a tad bit better. It is large and has lots of melted mozzarella. Also love the stuffed artichokes and Mozzarella Caprese Salad. Brought my girlfriend here about 5 years ago. She is a professional cook and kitchen director in a private facility. She so loved the food she goes with her family now. If she is pleased you know it has to be good as she truly is one of the fussiest people I know when it comes to food. Also love the salad bar and the assortment of breads. The hot sugar bread is to die for and the bread with onions, olive oil and Italian spices ARE OUTSTANDING TO ME! If you never had it, try it. Fred the owner is always very accommodating and pleasant. Give it a try I bet you go back! Kathie

We've been going to Nancys for over 30 years. Great pizza, just how you ask them to make it. It's like going to your Italian grammas house for dinner. The owners --Marisa, and Fred, couldn't be nicer, and Ivan keeps our glasses full w/o even a word from us. He's a such an efficient part of Nancys team. When my mother was alive we had many birthday parties there and they treated us like family. Just a warm feeling to be there. I love their veal dishes, God father sandwiches, their pepper steak, their garlic shrimp, their chicken dishes, the best fries I've ever had--and if something doesn't turn out as you like it, they will MAKE it right. VERY accomodating people. The oldies are playing very softly in the backround and if you're lucky, you get a glimpse of the real Nancy. The original Nancy. Say hello to her, make her smile. Mang every one...mang! oh and don't forget the cannoli-- It is out of this world, ....so good you'll cry.!
(5)chrissy w.
I ordered a pizza online, 4 out of 5 toppings in the pizza were missing. When I discovered the error and called the restaurant the lady who answered was VERY RUDE. When I asked to speak to a manager she informed me that she was the owner! Once the pizza order was fixed, the pizza was not very good.
(1)Andre B.
I've lived in Chicago for 35 years and this is by far the best thin crust pizza out there! The make it the way it should be! The salad bar is also always fresh.
(5)Joseph M.
Nancy's pizza is definitely the most amazing pizza around . The management staff and servers are friendly courteous and meet your every need I requested delivery of pizzas for my son's graduation party and not only were they hot delicious and on time but many compliments were given I highly recommend Nancy's pizza on Golf Road for the best pizza in the Chicagoland area everyone needs to try it
(5)Alex J.
Enjoyed the Eggplant parmigiana last night. Always tasty and a wonderful family owned Restaurant. It's nice to have accountability and owners who care about their establishment enough to be there daily. No corporate managers who act paralyzed to make decisions. Three cheers for Nancy's and their attention to service.
(5)Elyse R.
It's such a shame that I have to give them one star. My sandwich was very good. However, the delivery driver was very very rude. I used grub hub and instructed for the driver to call me when they got here. Currently in my building we aren't allowed to let deliveries in. We have to meet them at the front. After informing me that he had other orders after I told him I was meeting him. He insisted on me hurrying up and then shoved my food at me. Good food... Terrible service. Will not be ordering from here again.
(1)Abraham S.
We have been here several times. The food and service is always great. It's a relaxed atmosphere with oldies sings always playing in the background. I highly recommend Nancy's for a great pizza lunch or dinner.
(5)Nicole B.
Bleh not sure what has happened to this pizza place. The dough has no taste left to it. Used to be one of our favorites and after our last couple orders of not so good pizza I think we are officially moving on.
(2)Steve M.
Fred, Lucy,Gina, Still the best after all these years, Friday night, any fish item $9.95 including soup and salad bar, AMAZING!!!. Best food for the price in the area, worth the trip no matter were you live.
(5)Brian L.
I ordered a carryout from this restaurant some time ago. A Nancy's Deep Dish Pizza and an appetizer. I probably should not compare myself to the people who sit inside and actually eat, but seeing how I live in the apartments nearby I figured that eating it at home would make little to no difference. First of all the pizza was beyond oily and salty. I don't know if it was the excessive amounts of cheese or the way the crust was made. But eating that "small" pizza made a mess on a desk that makes a child's tantrum look clean. Secondly, the appetizer I bought was much too hard to even bite into. While the insides were quite tasty, the fact that I have to feel my teeth being scrapped against pieces of rocks made my experience quite unpleasant. Finally: This is a decent place to go if you are craving something a little more "Chicago-style", but if you are craving actual pizza or finger food; look elsewhere
(3)John S.
The best Chicago stuffed pizza well worth the wait. I no longer live in the area so when I come back for a visit this is a must. They have never let me down

I am sad to write this post because we love Nancy's pizza, but I am not sure we will ever order from them again. Since moving to the area, Nancy's has become our Friday night dinner spot. Whenever we order, the person on the phone is always in a hurry to get off the phone and we have to tell him that we will be paying with a credit card. The guy is always annoyed that he has to process the card. One time on the phone, my husband called him on his curt tone and the guy apologized. Then, last week, the guy on the phone forgot to put my husband on hold and this is what he heard, "F*****g guy again with the F*****g credit card! Every time!" If is it so hard to process a credit card, then don't offer that as a form of payment. I'm disappointed in the way that we were treated and don't want to support a business like this.

Stuffed crust Nancy's special takes a little over 30 min, but it is well worth the wait. Best thing I've eaten in Chicago, I miss it already!

Very rude and disrespectful service. My kids had won a certificate from school. The certificate had NO restrictions written at all. At the pick up time, he shouted at me stating that he has to make money so no coupon allowed. Completely agree that you gotta make money but you are getting free school marketing and tax credit. At the end he insulted me in front of 20-25 customers and took $10. Charity to school was just a show off.

Been buying stuffed pizza here for years! The pizza at this location never disappoints.

We visited from out of town and this was my first experience with deep dish or stuffed pizza. I thought it was very good and it was half off Monday which was an added bonus!! The sauce is very good, just like my grandma used to make!!

Tried Nancys because our Giordanos closed :( That'll never happen again. Worst pizza ever - not the Nancy's I remember from my teenage years. Absolutely tasteless. Had high hopes because when we opened the pizza box, it looked phenomenal! Woe is me. What is this world coming to... Our pizza world is in shambles. Don't waste your $$$. So incredibly disappointed.

What is a great pizza? One you come back for time and again. Nancys falls into that category. Like Mikey said, Try it you'll like it. Try the salad bar and daily specials.

Stuffed pizza was not good. Crust was not cooked and very disappointed. I consider pizza a treat and it is not cheap so when spending 80 dollars on 3 pizzas and have them be bland, and undercooked, it stinks. Will not go back.

I placed my order online an went to the restaurant to pick it up. I knew something was fishy when the entire place was empty at 12:30pm. I ordered "the award winning" Fettuccine alredo, cheesy garlic bread, and tiramisu. The pasta is just awful, as bland as could be. The alfredo sauce tastes nothing like cheese. I could not finish eating this dish. I filled up on the cheesy garlic bread which was barely decent since it was real tough. The tiramisu is embarrasing, it's almost like a cheesecake. Layer of whip cream over a some kind of creamy filliing over lady finger cookies. The filling tastes sort of like tiramisu but has a waxy texture. The lady fingers are hard and a bit burnt. Even the soda I bought was warm. I havent tried their other choices and I don't plan on it

Whenever I am in the area to visit my dad's family, I often times find myself enjoying Nancy's delectable food with my grandparents either as take-out or at the actual restaurant. As many have mentioned, the salad bar is out of this world. I like that it's in a more traditional family style than the typical American salad bar; that is why the cuts of veggies are thicker than is customary at a pedestrian establishment. One of the reasons my grandpa comes here is because what they do is in the Italian familial vein. Food is to be savored and enjoyed, and not everyone eats salad in the way most of us view it here in the States. Don't just take it from me; take it from the words, and happy stomach, of my Full-Blooded Italian (FBI) grandpa! ;-)

This place is horrible . I ordered online picked up the pizza and realize the ingredients were missing ! I called to explain and the manager told me I had to give the old pizza back when I received the new one . Who takes back a pizza??

To be honest, I was somewhat surprised to see how many good reviews this place got, but I guess it all depends on what you order. My mother and I went here for dinner tonight because I was really craving Italian food. Fettucini Alfredo is one of my favorites, and I remembered that the Nancy's in Bolingbrook had great Fettucini Alfredo, so I figured this Nancy's would, too. We were originally going to use a buy one get one free coupon I had, but upon entering, we discovered that their special of the day was veal dishes for $9.99, including soup, salad bar, and side of pasta. The salad bar was nice enough. Not extensive by any means, but still a salad bar, nonetheless, which you don't see often anymore. The minestrone soup was... well, ok, as long as you don't have your heart set upon authentic minestrone soup. It was more like vegetable soup: no minestrone pasta to be seen. On to the main course... I decided on the veal parmesan, and since it was served with a "side of pasta", I asked if fettucini alfredo was an option. She told me that it would be $5.00 extra since he would have to "defrost an entire serving of pasta", but she suggested that it would only be a couple of dollars if I just got a side of alfredo sauce and had the spaghetti or mostaccioli that It came with. Ok, that was fine. We got our meals, and the veal dish wasn't bad, although I would never pay the menu price of $16.95. As for the so-called "alfredo sauce? Well, I can honestly say that this "alfredo" sauce did not, in any way, resemble any alfredo sauce I have ever tasted. It had a TON of basil in it... BIG pieces of basil, and that's all you could taste. Alfredo sauce is supposed to be thick and rich. This was thin, watery, and tasteless, aside from the overwhelming taste of basil. When my mother mentioned this to the waitress and said that it was not at all worth the $3.00 that we were charged for it, she told the manager. The manager came to the table and said that he would not take this off the bill because the chef had to take time to make it. I said to him, "Have you tasted it?" to which he replied, "Want me to taste it? I will right now (tastes it). It's delicious!" My mother asked him what happened to the customer always being right, to which he replied, "You're NOT right!" and with that, he stormed off. It became pretty obvious why this place was almost empty at 7pm on a Saturday night. I cannot recall EVER receiving such poor customer service in an eating establishment, or anywhere else, for that matter. Had he been a little more accommodating, there was a chance that we would have given this place another try (making sure to stay far away from the alfredo sauce). I still have a 50% off coupon, and they also have some decent specials, including 6.95 pasta dishes, which I may have brought my kids in for. However, instead of accommodating us so that perhaps we would come back, along with my 3 kids (easily a $50.00 bill, even on their $6.95 pasta night), he chose to make a big stink about a $3.00 charge for a completely unsatisfactory product, thus ruining any chance for repeat business from us. Good business practice? I think not.

How do you screw up pizza? I've never had such a bland, flavorless, incredibly dissatisfying pizza in my life. I will never order from this, or any other related, restaurant with the Nancy's logo on it. Such incredibly crap-tactic pizza. I'm still dumbfounded on how they could screw up such a simple meal. How? Please? How?!?

Tried this place on a whim because of the overall positive reviews. I was in the mood for a submarine, but at 10 PM, nothing in the area was open. I ordered the "Panino Alla Rosa Sandwich" which consists of Italian Salami, Ham, Provolone Cheese & the typical trimmings on french bread. Needless to say I wasn't impressed at all. The French bread wasn't soft as I was hoping, and I had to take some pretty ferocious bites in order to get through it. The salami was a bit hard (too hard) and the edges of the provolone were dried out (meaning the cheese either wasn't properly wrapped or it was the dried out end/top slice). The overall taste was super bland. It honestly didn't taste like much of anything. Wouldn't recommend. My Mom ordered "The Godfather Sandwich" which consists of Italian Roast Beef and Mozzerella Cheese on Garlic Bread. She didn't care for it, and it was just meh to me. It had more flavor than my sandwich, that's for sure, but I didn't really like the spicy italian sausage taste of the beef. Lastly, our table also ordered a deep dish pizza (thank Goodness) and we all enjoyed that much more. They aren't cheap on the ingredients, that's for sure. The mozzarella is REAL mozzarella and is super ooey gooey when you slice into it. It's also really saucy on top, which is great.. since I've my share of dry deep dish pizzas (gross). Taste-wise, I'd compare it to Lou Malnati's. It has that sweetness to it like Lou Malnati's and isn't as bland as Giordano's. I really liked it. Will I go back? Sure, for the pizza. Just not the sandwiches.

Its been 3 1/2 years since I first reviewed this place, and it hasn't changed much - except that it seems to have improved a bit. The Stuffed Pizza is still fabulous, and a bit less expensive than the "Big 3" Chicago Style places. A "Large" 4 item combo is about $22. The menu of non-pizza items is extensive, and a real deal. No prices have gone up since my last review, and the daily deals are still a real steal - the Veal dishes are still only $10 on Saturday ($17 otherwise) and are first rate. The Linguine with clam sauce has real clams - in shells and on top (as well as others mixed in). It is still a neighborhood place that is a favorite of the over 50 set, and the staff is both friendly and very efficient. Well worth the time it takes me to get there.

Decided to give it another try. Much better service and food was great. Hope the service remains consistent moving forward.

We came here because of a groupon and hell who doesn't like pizza? The place is cozy, cute, and charming. Unfortunately, we were in a time crunch and didn't have the extra 45min to wait for the stuffed pizza. Oh yes we will be back for that! Instead we opted for our other carb friendly fav- pasta! I had gotten the fettuccine alfredo, which by the way was delicious! It had bits of basil in the sauce and came in a giant bowl. One pasta dish can serve two people easily. Their pasta dishes come with either soup or the salad bar. Yes, the salad bar doesn't have the biggest selection. However, they have 6 or 5 different breads you can try. Please try their breads since they were all so tasty and just perfect! The service was wonderful! The waitress was friendly and very helpful with suggestions. Great place, good food and great service...must come back!

OMG!!!! we grew up in the area and thought that Nancy's closed years ago. So we were SO HAPPY to see that the restaurant is still there and that the stuffed pizza is EXACTLY like we remembered from years ago. Thin crispy dough crust and bottom, big sausage chunks, tons of melted mozz cheese, crushed tomatoes on top-DELISH!!! What a great stuffed pizza is supposed to be. great price/value too for the quality! We will be here very time we come back to Chicago!

It was our first time there, so we decided to get the pizza. Their menus claim that they'd received an award for their stuffed pizza, but we got the thin crust instead. So you know, their pizza sausage is all pork, and they put big chunks of it on the pie (very nice). The pizza was very good. Comparable to some other places I could think of, but definitely stands out far above frozen or takeout/delivery quality pizzas. My only complaint about it would be that the slices towards the outside didn't have much cheese, so all the toppings slid off as soon as I bit into them. (I prefer my pizzas to stay together when I eat them). The atmosphere is friendly and really has a genuine, Italian feel. It also gives off the feeling of being family-owned and run. Crust = very crunchy Cost = $$ (we only got a 14" pizza with 4 toppings and it cost a total of $21) I would definitely go there again and would also recommend it to you to try. To get there, you"re better off driving west on Golf, thus making a right turn into the parking lot. Lot is shared with the rest of the stores, but it doesn't appear to be a real busy strip of stores, so parking should be find.

The Pizza here is excellent not that fast food junk. Their sausage is so unique tasting and not overly greasy and salty like others. Foccacia bread is great too. Very friendly owner who runs 50% of coupons often and 50% off on Mondays. Next to countryside pub down the road from us, this is next best pizza in town!

First of all, Nancy's does not serve Chicago style deep dish pizza, but rather Chicago style stuffed pizza: invented by Nancy's and also served at places like Giordano's, stuffed pizza is deep dish pizza with an extra thin layer of dough between the cheese and sauce. Stuffed pizza should never be used interchangeably for deep dish pizza, the style of pizza served at Lou Malnati's and Gino's East. Second of all, I like deep dish a lot more than stuffed, and I like Chicago style ultra-thin crust pizza better than deep dish. Because of this, I am giving Nancy's a slightly critical rating of three stars, despite being my favorite stuffed pizza. First you have the crust, an average stuffed pizza crust, crunchy and slightly oily/buttery; not the best but not the worst. Despite this, it still has the unneeded chewy, flavorless second layer. Next you have the toppings, a fairly good sausage with the flavor you'd expect from deep dish/stuffed pizza, but lacking the touch in Lou's or Gino's sausage. Next you have the cheese, the same milky and gooey mozzarella slices that cover all deep dish/stuffed. Lastly, we have the sauce, classic chunky, tomatoey flavor, but with an excessive sweetness. To sum it all up, Nancy's serves up some pretty good pizza, my favorite stuffed, despite my dislike of the style.

Good food and Service. Salad bar is awesome!

I've lived in Chicago my entire life & just recently moved to the la area. Out of all the pizza places I've ever tried, this is by far the best pizza I've ever eaten. Both the regular pizzas & especially the deep dish pizzas are AMAZING. Go here (:

We dined in and the place is small and not fancy. We tried the pizza and a seafood linguine with white sauce. We took the special Pizza and added whole basil leafs. It was very good we will be returning soon.

This was my first time here. I had the linguine & white clam sauce which was excellent! I thought it might be a cream sauce but that didn't really matter much to me. I also opted for the salad bar which I also enjoyed very much. I loved that the broccoli was blanched. Very sweet & tasty. I was surprised that they had as good of a salad bar as they did. I guess I didn't have high expectations. I did find that some of the veggies (celery, carrots & cucumbers) were cut in such large pieces. They would've been excellent for dipping. 4" long celery stalks. 1/4"-1/2" thickness on carrots & cucumbers-all just a little large for my taste. We did order the tiramisu....fail. In every sense of the word. It tasted like it came from the frozen food section of Aldi's. In fact, I think my bf did get a bite that was still on the crisp side. For this, I give it 3 stars. I'll definitely go back. Don't get me wrong! As a matter of fact, I believe for now, they have a special on Tues, Thurs & Sun - half price on their pasta dishes. Maybe other entrees. I'm not sure. I'd definitely have the linguine & clam sauce again. Actually, I will since I have leftovers!

I'm a huge pizza fan. I could literally scarf it daily, if my middle-aged expanding gut allowed. It doesn't. Nancy's serves one of the best stuffed crust, deep dish pizzas in Chicagoville. The reason I love it, is because of their sauce. It's a bit sweet, but also slightly herbaceous and savory, while retaining a bit of acidity. It would also be perfect over pasta, now that I think of it. I'd put it up there against Lou Malnati's and Original Gino's East. Though Nancy's crust isn't as greasy (or interesting) as Lou & Gino's ;). Last night we had the 4 cheese with pepperoni. My eyes rolled back in my head, when I tasted it's deliciousness. It came to the table so hot and fresh, that huge long strings of gooey melted cheese had to be cut away, to free each slice from the stuffed crust mother ship. Second reason I'm a fan is because their prices are better than other pizza joints in Chicagoland. Family-style cheaper. Third reason I'm a fan is speed. Our appetizers hit the table in less than 5 minutes, and our stuffed-crust pizza came in less than 35 minutes. The menu says you should be prepared to wait 45 minutes. Perhaps ours was faster because we were there for an early dinner, before 6:00 pm. Lesson: The early bird gets served ultra fast. Decor is old-school dark wood Italian eatery. Nothing spectacular or disappointing. A little older and worn, but clean. Ambiance is friendly, not too loud, a little subdued, with forgettable muzak in the background. Don't go expecting urban hipness. You can't be hip and in a pizza coma anyway. And order the stuffed-pizza, because you'll need the carbs to survive our harsh Chicagoville winters.
