We've heard people raving about this place and decided to give it a shot. We went in for Sunday dinner. We ordered the Saganaki app, it was brought out on a hot dish, no fire. At other restaurants they light it up in front of you. It was ok. For dinner, we had the Roast Leg of Lamb. The lamb was a bit dry and barely warm, tasted like it was reheated in the microwave. The peas and green beans tasted like they were out of a can. I'm pretty sure they were as they were discolored and really mushy. I was really hoping for some good greek food and left disappointed. I can say that we will not be returning to this restaurant.

Authentic Greek food without going downtown. Lunch is a total ripoff simply because they don't have a lunch menu so you pay dinner prices for dinner portions. I guess those Greeks need the money anyway. :)

Great service and great food! I will be back for more. Have the Saganaki! My wife and I really enjoyed it and they accommodated out baby in a stroller.

Great food good service nice decor. Went on a Monday night not busy. Had grilled octopus and goat stew. Very enjoyable. Stuffed grape leaves tasty. Moussaka tasted unique and was excellent. Recommend this restaurant strongly.

If in the mood for a taste of Greece... This is the place! My favorite is the grilled octopus. Taramosalata and the lentils soup - only on Thursday thou- is really good. Coffee greek style was tasty and interesting. Worth trying it again. Their wine selection is also good.

I really liked the outdoor patio area which was built for Chicago weather and allows one to enjoy the summertime. Their soup was pleasantly the "level" of lemon I like in a avgolemono soup. This is nitpicking, but we got saganaki the waiter really didn't actually let it "cook" very long, personally I like it crispy and boiling. To note: one of my favorite cuisines is Greek so I've been to many Greek restaurants and why in mention these notes. My father had to return his pork souvlaki because the pork was undercooked. Which we ended up having to find a different waiter to return it because it was a good while before ours returned. I did enjoy the free dessert, I got for checking in because of yelp.

No reason this is anything but 5 stars. Although the moussaka doesn't really stand out, the organic chicken, lamb with artichokes, and souvlaki pita were phenomenal--and I see that emphatically. We started with the dip sampler and that tasted fresh and great. The Greek sausage was very good, but definitely on the pricier side for the portion. Try the lemon rice soup if you'd like to see how it should be made. They have a great selection of wine and even offer Hillas Greek Beer...not my favorite, but good. When I go again, I'm definitely ordering more things with confidence. All the food coming out to the tables looked great and the service was top notch. Will definitely be back.

The Greeks are very ethnocentric people. They think they are gods gift to earth. They are like the French but less expressive about it. However they make some damn good food and Mykonos is a gorgeous island so I shall forgive them the flaw. This place has nothing special as far as decor goes but its simple, charming and very Greek. Blue and white galore! In the summer they even have a semi open patio. Its a very relaxing and nice area to eat. As far as the food goes, it is exceptional. Anything you order is better than what Yaya made at home. The lamb, the chicken, the saganaki, the mousaka, the spanakopita. Everything! I have come here a few times and I shall continue to come. It is worth checking out. No plates where broken while the visit and the review took place. Not very greek right? Disappointing!

Excellent grilled octopus, good traditional Greek menu, tomatoes are always ripe on the salads, will return when in the area.

This original Greek place is a must try. From their fried cheese with a splash of brandy on it.springing up to a flame of delicousness. The gyro is the best I've ever HAD. It's made with lamb, steak, and it's just amazing you must order. Their Greek fries are to die for, so crispy smothered in feta. Their Lemon soup is highly recommended and served daily. Prices are a little more than average,BUT the food is made with higher quality ingredients. No disappointments.

The saganaki piece was decent but didn't have any flavor. Was very bland. Never had a piece like that at any other Greek restaurants. Really like the way it looks and the servers were friendly. Gyros was different, I really didn't like it but I'm sure there are many who love it. The bread basket at the beginning of the meal was perfect.

  • Foodie A.

Mediocre to say the least. Way way over priced and the size for the price was small. Why is the microwaved lamb $25 a plate? Three people at my table ordered the same lamb dishes. All three plates were a different proportion size. Very strange. The waiter was very nice but refused to serve the wine our table wanted. Prolly because it was less expensive then the one he brought. We paid $25 a bottle. Someone ordered lemon Chicken with lemon sauce and rice. There was no lemon sauce and the rice was cold. Very disappointed. Cucumber salad was good, hot feta app was delicious and baklava was good. One fact is that the waiters have no idea what is in the food. The service was slow. Prolly will not return. Valet people were very inconsiderate. We over heard another table complaining about the food as well. It was packed. They only have valet. Place is loud as A rock concert.

This is definitely one of my favorite Greek restaurants! :) The food, service, and atmosphere are all great! My favorite menu items are the taramosalata, skordalia, saganaki, dolmades, and the chicken kabobs. My husband always gets a lamb dish and has LOVED every single one! Oh, their bread is sooo yummy as well! I eat so much of it, I end up getting full! Doh! I love that there is free valet, we are always greeted with a warm welcome, and the servers are attentive, but not overly attentive. If you go during the warmer months, definitely sit out on the patio...it is lovely...I feel like I'm on vacation! :)

Mykonos was always a family favorite from the time they first opened. I can't tell you how many wonderful times and meals our family and friends have all shared there. Over the years however we've ventured out to many other Greek restaurants just for a change of pace. For the past two years my husband and I have, for the most part, moved out of state. We just returned for a visit and wanted some really good Greek food. The first place we tried was Psistaria in Lincolnwood. It was good and really busy but last night we had the chance to go to back to Mykonos and sit out on the patio. Everything we had was really, really delicious. The one thing that stood out the most?..........the Organic Grecian Chicken! Thank you to the reviewer who raved about it and took a picture of his plate before diving in. His (or her?) review is what got me to try it - it has to be the best chicken I've ever tasted. They marinate it, grill it and it comes to you all de-boned. It was as juicy and tender and flavorful as could be. I'm not over-exaggerating either. I make greek chicken and it's good but it never has that tangy, lemony taste, mine is actually pretty boring. I don't know how they do it but I am so sorry we are now moving out of state permanently because I won't be able to get this until when and if I return. Out of everything we all ordered, the only minor negative was the saganaki. For fire codes, I'm sure, they cannot light it on fire at the table anymore since they've put a roof over the patio and it doesn't have a fire sprinkler system.. That didn't bother me, I've seen enough saganaki lit at tableside to last me a lifetime but the cheese they used was kind of solid and chewy - it was very hot when they brought it out and it tasted good but it wasn't soft or melted at all. Other than that, we all loved it and the rest of our party who isn't moving out of state will all be back for sure! Thank you Mykonos! ps: Please open up a restaurant just like this in Naples, FL ASAP!!!! You would make a fortune - there is NO competition whatsoever there.

Its great every time we go. I have yet to have bad service or bad food. The lamb is excellent and the combo plate is a great way to try things if don't know what you want. The outside garden is nice and these folks even park your car, wow! I have been going here for close to 30 years and today I was thinking back on all the good times I have had here and all the people I have brought here. I also tried to think of a time when I was disappointed, and as picky as I can be and as easy as it can be to be inconsistent and could not think of once, they are fantastic!!

I don't usually write a review while I'm still waiting for my food to arrive but since it might take awhile this gives me something to do while I wait. The food here is always so delicious. This is definitely my favorite Greek restaurant outside of Greektown. And the service is generally good, albeit not uber friendly. However, our waiter, after delivering our salad, apparently forgot we were here. He promised to come right back but it took at least 15 minutes before he came back. 45 minutes has passed since we ordered our main course. Initially, I thought it was the waiter's fault but after watching the interaction with the owner/manager (what else was there to do?) I now feel that it may be a management issue. But let me add this one last thought-the food is still delicious!

  • A. T. T.

My boyfriend and I tried to go to the restaurant and the valet refused to park our car, even though they did a family and another couple after turning us away. We went in and told the manager about our experience, and he could not have been less interested. I I will never patronize this restaurant again, and it's a shame because I have gone there before with large crowds, and family members and was never treated like this. I don't know if the problem is that we are an interracial couple or somebody just felt like being a jerk, but considering the manager obviously does not care about his customers if he will let the valet parking people treat them this way, they certainly don't need my money or my business and they will never get it again.

We've come to this restaurant dozens of times, intimate dinners and groups of 40. Food and service have been consistently excellent. They do not have a bad day. My husband is Greek and his family has used this restaurant for years. But it was our 1st time seating outdoors. Reminded me of a patio in a Greek island. They have blocked out outside noises and made this a beautiful place to dine. Today, we had lunch for 3. Shared everything, and it was amazing. The skordolia, hodiatiki Salata, and chicken kabobs were perfect. Priced right too!

All Greek restaurants even on Halsted pale in comparison to the quality and consistency of this place. If you're Greek and your grandma is still alive and living in Greece, when she visits bring her here, she'll want to abandon her home in Greece because she will empirically know this place is the real deal. When she is done licking the plate she will kiss you on the lips (crying) thanking you for giving her a reason to move here because of Mykonos Restaurant. The organic Greek chicken is a 1/2 chicken cooked ON the bone served OFF the bone. Greatest idea since sliced bread. (Ruined my desire to eat chix anywhere else, a dish that is normally bo-ri-ing) Baklava, saginaki, tiramusalata, any lamb dish, all amazing, and their giant Lima bean dish (Gigantes) should be illegal. Fish and all other "common Greek" dishes are absolutely insane. Best Greek restaurant in 30,000 miles.

Wasnt planning on going here but was in the mood for Greek and the Niles Greek Fest was so crowded. Looked up Greek food and Niles and this place came up. It was an unexpected treat. Free Valet parking too. It was nice outside and we sat outside on the patio. I was pleasantly surprised there werent any flies etc. Food was great. Avgolemono soup, saganaki, salmon and the chicken dimitri special. They were all delicious. Great prices. Place got very crowded but not overbearing. Service was great too. I will definitely be back..

Horrible Mother's Day experience! I have eaten at Mykonos in the past for lunch and was very impressed by their food and service. I know what authentic Greek food should taste like and honestly the last time I was here their chicken souvlaki was probably the best I have had outside of Plaka, Greece and that's saying something. I'd been looking forward to coming back (and had I written this a month ago it would have been 3-4 stars) So when my Greek wife said she wanted Greek food for Mother's Day I made reservations for 4. Unfortunately, Opa! Estiatorio moved out of our neighborhood and is now quite a hike, so I thought why not give them a shot. I knew things were going downhill fast when we arrived for a 6 o'clock reservation (after skipping the complimentary valet parking - very small lot here) at 5:45 and the gentleman at the front said he couldn't find the reservation. I had to point it out to him. He crossed it off and we waited another 25 minutes to be seated. The table was not ready (no silverware, water, etc...). The Busboy eventually brought us water and knives and spoons (no forks - which seemed odd). Another 20 minutes passed before we even saw a waiter. Since we had plenty of time to pursue the menu we were able to order right away. 15 minutes the complimentary bread came to the table and a few minutes later the beverages we ordered. I had ordered a mixed drink that was served in a tall glass to make it appear that it was a double - (apparently to apologize for the wait) I can assure you it was served in a tall glass to "water down" the alcohol not because it was weaker than a single in a short glass. So, that's over an hour from the time we arrived to our first morsel of food and beverage. It was at least another 20 minutes before my wife's salad arrived and along with our fried calamari appetizer. Her lemon soup never did! The waited offered to comp me a drink, which also never arrived. It had to have been after 8:00 before the meals arrived. Honestly, by this time I was so fed up I was no longer even hungry, besides we still had to ask for forks! One member of our party did not get their order and had ordered plain spaghetti - which when it did arrive, had red sauce and had to be exchanged (luckily it was an easy and quick fix). I had ordered the chicken kabob which I expected to be the dinner plate of the souvlaki. Wrong! First I asked for no peas - guess what was on my plate? Second, even though the kabob is more expensive it had less meat than the souvlaki I had recently had for lunch AND parts were charred - not color from being on the grill, but CHARCOAL - solid as a rock charcoal - the meat inside was juicy but you couldn't taste the flavors because the outside was so badly burned. And even the rice was cold and clumpy - how do you mess up rice?! My wife (remember Mother's Day) said the gyro meat was like leather. Luckily, she was happy with the rest of her meal and will have leftovers for a few days. Typically, if you do a FourSquare check in here you get free desert - I didn't even bother because 1). it should have been comped for the 3 hour experience. 2). I just wanted to get home and get some real food. After dropping over $100 for 4 people (including one appetizer and beverages), on the way out I had to wait (surprise) to see speak to someone about my disappointment. All the hostess could say was she was sorry, but, it was Mother's Day. I told her that's no excuse to let standards slip. Then she actually blamed it on the rain. She said they were all set with their reservations but then it started raining and they had a ton of walk-ins and they got slammed. Ummm, really - apparently water falling from the sky makes people want Greek food? That's when I told her it wasn't just the service but the food quality as well, I could have gone down the road to "The Works" (a Greek fast food place) spent a quarter what I just did and received better food. She apologized again and I did too - Sorry, that I won't be back and walked out the door close to 3 hours from when I arrived! Happy Mother's Day!

great service.... I was somewhat reluctant going to Mykonos given the reviews were mostly negative revolving around service. I am happy to report that the service was wonderful. Never ending bread, water, updates on food delivery, perfect salad, even offered more pepperchinis and anchovies when he saw we liked both. Food was really good too. Avgo lemono (spelling?) was terrific and the lamb I had in the same sauce was great too. In the bad weather when you don't want to drive down to Greek Isles in the city, this is a great option. Oh and the live music was a pleasant surprise. Close your eyes and it felt very authentic.

Not mind-blowing but solid, satisfying Greek. Their taramosalata is very tasty, and their avgolemono (egg lemon soup) is pretty good. Their gyros is good but not as good as DENGEO'S!

My family came here for my Mom's birthday a couple months ago. And my birthday, a couple months before that. And mom's birthday last year. And for random occasions throughout the years. I honestly don't remember a time when coming to this place for an occasion wasn't an option. I feel like it's been open forever. Or at least, in the twenty-six years of my existence. (I honestly have no idea when this place opened.) And I don't think I've eaten Greek food anywhere else (so this may be a biased review as I have nothing to compare it to). Greek food isn't really my thing, but I enjoy it here. The fact that we almost always sit outdoors in the [covered] terrace with the vines and fire-decorated waterfall also adds to the experience. You're bound to forget where you are when you're sitting for dinner (then you get really sad when you step outside into the crowded parking lot and Niles traffic). So the food: the bread is always delicious and the saganaki is amazing (I love seeing the flames go WHOOSH! on top of the cheese). Those are pretty much the two things we always have with every meal. Then it varies. On my birthday, I had a salad with greens, olives, feta, and a couple other things. It was good (and huge!), but I didn't take the leftovers home. The last time I went, I ordered Spaghetti a la Tomata (one of the cheapest things on the menu) and it was delicious! Even the leftovers at lunch the next day were great. I also sampled my sister's whitefish dinner (yum) and a couple combination appetizer plates with squid and octopus -- which surprisingly tasted amazing with the lemon/vinaigrette thing they put on top if it. For desert, I've sampled the crème caramel or Galaktoboureko (can't remember which I had -- they seem similar -- maybe I had both) and Loukoumades. I was sick the day I tried the crème caramel/Galaktoboureko so it wasn't that appetizing to me. The Loukoumades were delicious -- they tasted (and looked) like a honey-coated Greek donut puff -- YUM. The only downside to this place? Parking here kind of sucks. By that, I mean there is never anywhere to park except for one spot behind the building that is miraculously always available. Otherwise, they have valet parking -- which is what most people tend to use (my family is weird and doesn't like to use valet parking). There is also only one way to enter the lot and one way to exit (unless you navigate out through the alleys behind the buildings), and the traffic on Golf isn't very kind. But, I guess it's worth it because this is a good place to eat on occasion.

My daughter and I went here for lunch. The décor is fresh and bright with theur blues and bright white reminding me of Greece, Around the perimeter is a raised seating area which we particularly like. The food was tasty and came out pretty quickly. .We tried several appetizers since they had a number that sounded so good. The only one that disappointed a bit was the eggplant spread - I always get that at Greek restaurants and theirs was only mediocre. Of course the saganaki was delish. Our entrees were also good. Staff very friendly and attentive even though they had a large party from a funeral that afternoon. Nice, free parking lot. Wheelchair accessible. Clean bathroom.

If you have a reservation, it's pretty much meaningless. You will sit and wait and starve and no one will care. Oh, and valet is mandatory, which is definitely not ideal in the suburbs. Extremely disappointed.

I'd rate Mykonos a 3.5. I feel that a 3 is too low and a 4 might be too high. I've been to Mykonos several times over the years. It's quick, it's easy and it's local. I usually flip a coin and it's either Periyali down the block or Mykonos. I would give both the same rating. When I come to Mykonos, I always order the cold trio for an appetizer and substitute the Tzatziki with Melitzanosalata. All of the spreads are delicious and I'd highly recommend. I also usually order a cup of egg lemon soup, which is wonderful. The kabobs are pretty standard - as is their Pastitsio and Moussaka. Not a big fan of their Gyro, but that's just me. When available, I love to get their lamb with noodles. The lamb is super soft and tasty and the pasta is great. The prices are a bit high though, and the servers could be friendlier. I've actually avoided Mykonos before because of the servers. Overall though, Mykonos has pretty good food. I wouldn't really rave about it, but it's a good local bite for Greek food when you don't want to drive all the way to Greek Town. I will continue going.

Here we are... a day after I had an abysmal dinner the night before at a Greek restaurant down the road on Milwaukee Ave... I had to cleanse my palette for a good Greek meal aftertaste since the other joint just blew bad. So, location - great, parking with free valet - a nice touch esp for the seniors and those with special needs, wait staff attentive, bussing staff very good, décor indoor and outside was nice, menu selection and pricing, a little on the more than average side - but earned worthy of saying OK.... What can I say, every time I come here, I am left trying something new and complimenting the consistently great taste that the food has. Eqq Lemon soup was - Excellent and on par with what eqq lemon should taste like. The combinations I had last night were excellent as well, cold appetizer sampler was a hit for both new greek food eaters and for us the seasoned old salts.... Dinners we ordered were fantastic. I cannot chide this place in the least bit.... service, quality of ingredients, preparation and time to table - all get 1st place. I cannot wait to go back again next month.

After all the mixed reviews i was not sure that I wanted to order from here but I gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised with the friendly voice of a young girl who took my order Informative and polite. The braised lamb with rice pilaf and greek potatoes were out of this world. The meat was so tender, it fell off the bone so easily and the taste was so delicious. My father finished the entire meal, which is very rare for him. I also had the greek salad and was so fresh and delicious, the big half loaf of absolutely fresh bread was outstanding. So YES, needless to say I am impressed with Mykonos, and was my first time here but NOT my last. Keep up the great work Mykonos staff !!!!!

More like 3.5. Nice outdoor seating. Greek restaurants are never cheap even when cost of plate is. This is a reliable stand bye if you need your Greek Food fix. Chicken Ala Dimitri, Grilled Pork Chops, and Salad with Goat Cheese N Figs are recommended. The owner of another Greek place ( half mile away) could learn a lot from the owner here. He is always smiling, friendly, coming to tables, shaking hands, and thanking customers. He is old. Tired. and Worn out. But that is the right way to do business and thats why he still does it.

So we were in the neighborhood and wanted to pick up a quick bite. We called in a order for one Greek Salad and one spanakopita entrée. When we picked it up, we were shocked that the total was $23.00. The spanakopita was barely big enough for two people to share, and came with two small potato wedges, wow. The Greek salad was small too, and the lettuce looked like ice berg lettuce, and if it was romain lettuce, mostly stalks were used because it was hardly green. The tomatoes in there were barely cut, it was like you were eating tomato halves and so you had to cut them yourself. The only other thing in the salad were three little hot peppers, a few olives, not even four, and that was it. No cucumbers even. To top it off, they had the dressing inside the salad, so when we picked it up, by the time we got home, the salad was all limp and turning brown already. For $23 we feel like we were robbed! If you want good greek food and do not want to break the bank, go to Hubs in Chicago. For $23, you can get two entrees, like a half chicken with rice, potatoes, and then another gyros platter entrée with generous amount of gyros, pita bread, two soups all for under $20 and the food is delicious. Do not get ripped off by this place! I feel like we deserve a refund or credit! You get zero bang for your buck! As a side note, I am half Greek, so being of the heritage, I know what Greek food should taste like, and be prepared. And this place just does not cut it. It is a rip-off. This is a classic example of "Greedy Greek" syndrome, trying to get as much money as possible out of someone while providing less than adequate goods or services in return, trying to cut corners and costs so they can maximize their profit. Happy to say I did not inherit this from my Greek side.

We (table for 4) entered the beautiful ambience restaurant at 9 30 pm and it was not as busy except for 3 other tables. The guy at the door greeted us with a grumpy nod and seated us. There were 2 vegetarians on our table and except for Hummus n another entree, there are no veggie options. The kebabs were good but arrived late. Asked for hot sauce and it took 18 min to arrive as one bottle was doing rounds. The veg entree did not taste good and we expressed our displeasure but waiter never cared to know. To get the check, pay and everything took abt 20 min. A weird thing we noticed was, he bought the used plates from another table and was abt to place it on ours so that he could take away our plates in one go. But owing to our stares he did not proceed. That was really annoying ! We left. The waiter, the guy at the door no one greeted! And we know we are not going back !!!

After trying two Greek restaurants in Chicago, I had almost given up trying to find a dish I really enjoyed. Then I tried the Chicken a la Macedonia at Mykonos. All I can say is wow! My dinner partner let me try some of the items on her combo plate, too, and those were also of far superior quality to anything we were served in Chicago. My faith is restored and I will try something else next time. Service was also just fine; the waiter was attentive and stopped by frequently to make sure we wanted for nothing. The valet parking is the icing on the cake.

I've been to Mykonos twice now (minimum for me to write a review). Forrest Gump would say they should offer a box of chocolates because "you never know what you're gonna get" in terms of good food. Their lemon rice soup is among the best I've ever had. Gyro appetizer is pretty hard to mess up, and very good tzatsiki (sp). Athenian chicken is adequate. Braised lamb has a weak tomato sauce. Green beans - delicious. My wife had a sea food dish that she thought was unremarkable. The baklava - very good. My family visited there last weekend and spent $118 for the meals described above one glass of wine and one baklava - I found that to be slightly pricy. Service was good. Complimentary valet parking. I love Greek food. I'm going to have to keep looking for a place close to home for a good place to sit down and get it.

Great food! Even better atmosphere. We came all the way from Colorado to enjoy this great restaurant. We will be sure to return when we come back in a few months. Simply amazing!

I came here for dinner the other night with my family. The place was pretty packed and it seemed as though there were a lot of locals and return folks. It was a cold night and we all had on coats and scarves. There were 6 of us and they sat us at a booth that was a bit crowded, considering all of our winter gear. They also didn't offer to take it. We sat down and they came out with bread and butter with cheese; we asked for olive oil and we mixed the cheese and oil, so yummy. I do wish the bread was a bit warm. I ordered the Greek spaghetti. It was buttery & cheesy. We also got the flaming cheese which was great to see them make. The hummus as delish also, but I did think it was bit ridiculous that there were only 4 small pieces of pita bread with the amount of hummus and if you wanted more, you had to pay. We ordered a few more dishes but I have to say, nothing was amazing. They were mediocre dishes. My cousin ordered Chicken a la Macedonia, and we was not impressed at all. Sadly none of us ended up eating it. The portions of food were large. One other person got the chicken a la dimitri- chicken was nice and tender but again, a simple dish. Can't remember the other dishes but nothing stood out. The service was great and the wait staff was friendly.

Friend received a $25 gift certificate at Christmastime. He brought a party of 7 to the restaurant on Saturday. The Host saw the certificate and said "We don't honor those anymore'. Really? you know that that's basically theft. Scummy practice means no business from me, my friend or any Northside Greek Food Loving eaters.

I recently went here after not going for a few years. I went in the early evening. The atmosphere and decor is great. The food is Ok...I love Greek food! I grew up on the stuff. But the price was a little bit high for what I got. I ordered the Souvlaki. It comes on two kabobs and rice and potatoes...The Souvlaki were tiny about 5 pieces of meat per kabob and the size of a quarter. They were places on this huge white plate with the sides on a separate plate. Which probably made it look even smaller...The pork was tasty but the sides were not. The tomato sauce was bland like it just came out of the can. The worst part was this dish was $15. I could have gone to a local Greek fast food place and got the same for half the price. The only redeeming quality was the Greek soup I had with dinner was quite good!

Thought I'd give this place a second try, tried it first several years ago. Came last week on my birthday for lunch with one other person. Go inside: no one is there. Go to outside seating area, two people stare at me (no greeting) and I ask if they are open. Outside seating is nice. Service is slow and server is unfriendly and seldomly came to our table. It is lunch time and only 4-5 tables occupied. Athenian chicken was dry. My combo dish was below average. Our leftovers were packed for 15 mins before server came by. I had to tell the busboy to get our server. When he finally shows up, he asked if we wanted dessert, when I already had cash in hand & was waiting for him to pay the bill. I should have made the drive to Greek Town instead where food/service is top notch

My family and I were seated in their covered outdoor space by a combined fire display/fountain. There were lots of plants in the room. We were given fresh bread, which was tasty and had sesame seeds on it. I ordered the a la carte gyros plate for lunch, and it was good. The meat was not dried-out, the tzatziki was good, and overally, a perfectly good gyros plate. The saganaki was also good, though I wish they set it on fire at our table :) Prices were so-so given the area, but I'd come back when I'm craving greek food.

We have patronized Mykonos for years, but I am sad to report that our history has ended after noting its steady decline, and our most recent visit. About our most recent visit; the food was just okay by Greek standard, though considering its high price, which is ridiculous for ala carte Greek food entree selections, it was unsatisfactory by any standard. Our waiter was either rude, indifferent, or clinically depressed. After we waited nearly ten minutes before he came to our table, he did not welcome us, and after we were served our beverages and meals, he did not check to offer refills, nor to inquire if our food was satisfactory, nor to ask if we required anything else, or thank us for our business and his undeserved tip. After I dropped $100 to serve three for just so-so food (without drinks) and unwelcoming, terrible service, I can assure you that I will go elsewhere, where my money will be much better spent, at establishments that serve noteworthy food and value their patrons.

Not the experience it used to be when I was younger. We had some lamb chops that came much different than they were described. The table had faded posters of greece under the glass top. How much would it cost to replace posters? They also charge a premium price on all their dishes. Best of luck going forward. Angelo

I love Mykonos!!! My parents took me here as a kid and I still go there to this day. I went last night because I had to take my mom to a doctor down the street and it was delish! I admit the server could have been a bit more pleasant, but he was pretty attentive regardless. The busboys were great too. My water was never empty and empty plates didn't clutter the table. I just had some appetizers while I was waiting for my mom. I love their saganaki. It probably is one of the best I've had as the flavor isn't too strong or salty like a lot of places. I also had some taramisolata and grilled octopus yummmmm!!!! Also, I must say they are pretty accommodating. Last year I had a family dinner on a Saturday night for nearly 40 people. The owner helped me put an order together, helped with the amount of appetizers, amd even found a way to sit us all in a big u shape. They obviously had to think ahead where they would out their other tables, as it was pretty busy! I definitely suggest giving them a shot if your haven't yet!

Hands down, the best greek food in the burbs. get the saganoki cheese, you'll love it! wait staff is generally good, but last time I went there it was a new guy who wasn't listening to me, and as a result got my order wrong. good thing the food is so good, i'll be back.

The lamb was horrible. I think this is one of those places that has come a long way on its reputation but won't get much father in the near future. The pricing was rediculous. Olive Garder would have been better in all aspects and half the price! I started this review over a year ago and never finished it until now. Being that I remember how horrible it was almost a year later should say something to management. Being that they are only already at three stars tells me management is either not looking at online reviews or could care less. Unfortuneately, they are damaging and they do surve a purpose.

After a long week and still hurting from the Blackhawks loss, I thought a trip to Mykonos with the 'rents was in order. My pain was assuaged with the combo plate: moussaka, pasticio, dolmades, and sliced gyro meat. Everything hit the spot, especially the moussaka. The eggplant was tender and flavorful and the bechamel was awesome.

Was not impressed at all! Saganaki was pretty good but nothing special. Had the braised lamb and the potato was the best part of the dish. Dad had the combo plate and the gyros kinda resembled McDonalds ground beef. Service wasn't special either, one waiter seemed to be serving the entire restaurant. Oh and the rest rooms smelled and there wasn't even running water for me to wash my hands! Thank God for hand sanitizer! Definitely will not return here ever again.

My local favorite place for awesome Greek food, or more specifically LAMB. They have baked, braised, and broiled lamb. My favorite is the braised lamb with rice pilaf and lemon butter potatoes. The taste is amazing, and comes with Greek Parmesan cheese (comes in a cool metal holder). This is one of those restaurant where you can order "flaming cheese" which is just regular cheese doused with a shot of rum, lit on fire (which creates a decent fireball) and then extinguished with lemon. Although the novelty is quite fun, the cheese that you are left with is not the greatest. They do however have another cheese appetizer that doesn't come with flames but the taste is definitely "on fire". The Feta Piccante is one of the best tasting cheese dishes I've ever had. It has a great tang, with the sharpness of the feta, but then balanced with the olive oil and tomatoes. It can be a bit pricey ranging from around $15-30 per person, but simple romance is found inside there all the time.

Mykonos is located on the north side of Golf Road a bit west of Milwaukee Avenue. Their building is free-standing with ample off-street parking. Valet parking is available at your discretion. We met friends here for our maiden voyage. The restaurant has an attractive decor and is not too large. On a Monday evening the restaurant was not filled to capacity. Our waiter was attentive and personable. I ordered souvlaki ($12.95), which came with rice, tomato sauce, onions, baked potato slice and tomato slices. The presentation was nice, the pork was seasoned well and quite tender. My only "complaint" if any, would be the portion size seemed a bit small, but I like to eat! My wife and friends enjoyed their meals very much. After dinner the waiter brought a dessert on the house. I can't remember what it was called, but it looked like donut holes drizzled in honey and nuts. The dough was more dense and chewy than a donut hole and fabulous. We had a pleasant meal and evening thanks to Mykonos. Give it a try!

My family and I went there for Mother's day. This was our first experience ever going to a Greek restaurant. When we went inside, I was very impressed with the interior of the restaurant. The colors were white and blue and the decor was very cute. We were greeted right away and seated almost right away. The people who greeted us were prompt, friendly and professional. When we were seated, our waiter greeted us within a few minutes of being seated. He was very friendly. We told him that today was our first time coming and experiencing a Greek restaurant, so we appreciated any recommendations. He was very helpful and made several great recommendations. We started out with two appetizers: the Saganaki (delicious) and the baby octopus. That was the first time we had tried octopus cooked like that, so we weren't too sure what to expect with that. The octopus wasn't our favorite, but it wasn't bad either. The tomatoes that came with that dish were delicious. My mom got the BBQ Baby Lamb with peas (which were AMAZING). I got the Aegean Sea food pasta. That food was also very good. The shrimp were big and delicious; the scallops were exquisite. The sauce was amazing. The price was pretty standard for a nice dine-in restaurant. Overall we had an amazing experience. Our waiter was excellent. The food was delicious. The price was decent. We will definitely be back! :)

You don't have to go Downtown Chicago, or anywhere else, this is great greek food and the best soup you will ever have. We have eaten here three times since being in the area, and every time it is outstanding. We have been here for lunch once and twice for dinner, every time very good. There can be a wait and parking is tight. Service can be a bit slow, but the staff is nice and the food makes up. We have tried three other greek restaurants, we come back here every time.

I have eaten at Mykonos since 1988 and it is, and will always be one of my favorite restaurants in the area. They have real authentic family chefs that use top notch imported ingredients like cheese, oil, and spices. They also use and cook with some of the best produce for their salads and side dishes all year long. Their bread is also one of the best around. My favorite are their baked lamb dishes or their combination plate in which you can never go wrong. You can often pick your own sides too which makes it very flexible. If you like Greek food and great service, I highly recommend it.

If you can't get to Greek town, this is the next best thing! Granted, I'm not Greek, but I enjoy Greek food and I thought this was top notch. We were there on New Year's Eve and the place was jumping. I definitely heard the waitstaff speaking Greek and looking around there seemed to be a good mix of couples and families dining. My husband and I both ordered the Combination plate, which was huge and it looked like it came out of a Greek Grandma's kitchen. It looked authentic and it was just divine. We fed our little son off of our plate. The bread was great too. For appetizers we got the Sauganaki and the Garlic spread, which are both to-die-for! After our son ate I was able to walk around with him and show him the (gas) fireplace, which he thought was very interesting. The waiter was a little aloof, but I didn't find it offensive. I think he did have a lot to think about on a busy night. Overall the service was prompt: nothing to complain about. I'm definitely going back with out-of-town family so that they can have a Greek experience without having to drive into the city.

I have been here about a dozen times in the last ten years and really liked the place, but the food was not good my last couple of times. I was just there on a business lunch and was embarrassed to have recommended the place. Our orders ranged from appetizers to salad to gyros. The zucchini app which used to be great was a squishy mess. The gyros is overly seasoned with what seemed more like Indian spices. Previous reviewer must be right about ownership change. Even the waiter we got seemed like he could care less about taking our order. If you want real Greek food don't bother with this place.

The decor is lovely- the patio is technically outdoors, but it's sheltered by a surrounding wall and a tarp, and best of all, some sort of trellis and beautiful climbing vines. I think we picked the perfect day to go, because it was a cool summer night and not too humid. Make sure to wear bug spray though, because I once got eaten alive there. There's also this sorta awesome waterfall/fountain with fire flickering across the top. It's not like 5-star-hotel worthy but they definitely do try. The only annoying part is that the manager was not very nice to us on the way in. We were 20 minutes late for our reservation, but had called ahead to let them know. My dad (who speaks semi-poor English) had told him that we had a reservation, but I wanted to double check to see if a table was ready. He snapped back at me, "Well, you guys are 30 minutes late!" ... uh... sorry? Otherwise, the food was good- not the best Greek food I've ever had, but definitely worth it if you're looking to stay in the suburbs. My family, who has mostly never had Greek food before, absolutely loved it. All in all, a successful night.

Nice atmosphere, good service, food is great! We've been here a few times, and I can honestly say that we've never had anything bad! The first time we went, my daughter was only 2 yrs old, we didn't want to order her a full meal because she wouldn't eat it. The waiter asked us if she'd eat gyros and we said she would so he brought us a bread plate will a few strips for her (which they did not charge us for) along with our dinners. The deserts are spectacular! I cannot pronounce what we had, but it's a Greek version of flan... SO YUMMY! Since then, we've had our kids share meals when they are there with us and it's always gone great. The servers are patient with explaining anything you're unsure of, as to what's on the menu, the owner comes around during dinner and asks how your meal was. I really enjoy Mykonos!

We always get amazing service here. Add to that great food, including octopus that isn't rubbery or fishy, but rather delicious, with the right amount of salt and flavor, and awesome outdoor seating and we have a winner.

So, me and my boyfriend come here almost once per week. This has been his place for years, so I have to admit to being a "hanger on" if you will. I have never eaten so much Greek food as I have in the past year and all from here, and I have to say that I have never been disappointed. The dishes are consistent and having gone their quite often there is still plenty of food for me to try that I have not yet had. My favorite dish is the Neframia (spelling). It is roast lamb and the skin is crispy and salty and delicious.

  • Kristina K.

The garden patio is very lovely, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. We had grilled octopus which was tasteless, a gyros plate that had overlooked dark crispy gyros. Both plates were very small portions. The best thing we had was the zucchini with garlic sauce which was very good. They have managed to make Greek food pretty tasteless while being very salty. Next time we will get on the expressway and to to Greek Islands...

So i was really in the mood for Greek Food, and I was in the area with my girlfriend so we stopped in. We were seated promptly, and our server came right to our table with some bread, and thats when I got a weird vibe. As the server (an older greek gentleman) placed the bread on the table he turned to walk away and kind of said over his shoulder, "You didnt want appetizers or something did you?" So I turned to ask my girlfriend if she did infact want the appetizer we were talking about and he was already walking away.. so I kind of shouted back that we would like the Saganaki.. After about 5 minutes, he came back to our table with it, lite it, and seemingly just dropped it on the table and turned away and again, said over his shoulder, "Are you ready to order?" So we ordered, and my girlfriend had some questions about the potatoes - and he seemed generally annoyed with her questions - she had two. 1) How are the potatoes prepared with this dish? 2) What are greek fries? Simple questions - the guy generally seemed to just not want to serve us. Our meal came, we ate and sat around for awhile awaiting for someone to come take my girlfriends dish to be wrapped to take home, and bring our check. Finally we got our check, and the food wrapped - I gave the server my credit card, and he came back and literally just tossed it on the table and said, "Here- Thanks." and walked away. Now, dont get me wrong - the food was decent, not GREAT, but decent. However, my girlfriend and i both felt sick after leaving, but I attributed that to the fact that neither of us had really eaten that day until we go there at about 3:00pm... and probably ate a little quicker then we should have. Either way, I will not be returning. I am disappointed in myself and should have just made the trip to Greek town.. Next time!

If you looking for Greek food in the near northwester suburbs, Mykonos is a solid choice. The food is above average, and they do an excellent Athenian chicken- the know how to char grill here. The sides are generally well done, and I prefer their sort-of Americanized tasting saganaki to most of the ones I have had in Greek Town. As far as the service or the place being bought out by "poles" , I have to really disagree with some of the previous reviews. I have been coming here with my family for years and the waiters are exceptionally welcoming and a very friendly, capable group. Some of the same guys have been serving me for at least 8 years. Also, even though it is located in a rather dreary part of Niles/Glenview, the outdoor garden is comfortable and perfect for a date. The inside dining area is fairly nice as well, with some well done (if you believe that's possible) wall sized photos of Greece. Knowing this area well, it's a good choice.

This was one of the restaurants we came across by searching the GPS database in our car (in this case, for "GREEK"). The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The decor looks distinctly Greek, and the music sounds the same. Our waiter didn't even need a pad for our orders, which got a bit complicated at one point. Yet, everything came out perfectly. They were adamant about no substitutions, but quite accommodating about leaving oils and dressings on the side. Low-fat, low-carb choices were put together with some thought and give-and-take by the waiter. My mom ended up with a veggie combo of Greek village salad, steamed greens, and a delicious green bean dish. The yogurt dessert (OK, it was full fat but home-made and wonderful) with walnuts and honey was awesome! My only complaint would be that our waiter was rather cool at first, and spoke very quickly, though he mostly made up for it with his suggestions for Greek coffee. And he warned up when we started chatting about how to prepare such wonderful Greek cuisine. This one made it into our address book, to be saved for the next trip to the area. The previous reviews talking about poor food quality were not substantiated by our experience, though I do note that the most recent one was nearly three months ago. If we patronized the restaurant on a "good day," so much the better.

This place is by far the best Greek restaurant Ive had in the burbs and outside of Greek Town. Everything that I've ever ordered here has always been very good. My wife and I have celebrated our birthdays here on separate occasions and our guests loved the food. Just don't expect your waiter to sing to you; I'll get to that later. On some occasions, we have even driven an hour just to eat here for dinner with friends. Whenever we have a chance, we always try to sit outside the patio that is covered in luscious grape vines and flowers. You almost feel like you were in the Mediteranean. I recommend my favorite dish, Roast leg of Lamb, covered in tomato sauce, which comes with Rice Pilaf, potatoes, string, peas or Sphegetti. The lamb is so succulent, it melts in your mouth, and the sauce just bursts out with flavors. If you are unsure what to order, try the Combination Plate which has a sampling of gyros, Dolmades, Moussaka, Pastitsio, greek potatoes, rice and vegetables. The don't really have a lunch menu so don't expect a cheap lunch as you will be ordering off the same dinner menu, but the food is really top notch. I have to admit, the wait staff is hit or miss; at times we get a friendly waiter, but most of the time, the wait staff is not that friendly or attentive. For these reasons, Im deducting one star. This place can get really busy for dinner on the weekends, especially Friday and parking can get full with an hour wait.

I used to live in the Chicago area and did frequent Mykonos based upon their location to my home. That being said, there are much better Greek Restaurants in Chicago and the Northwest Suburbs. The food was pretty good; however, the owners were not accommodating. As much money as I spent at their restaurant over the course of two years, I could have been treated more professionally and made to feel welcome. Loyal customers are hard to find.

My family has been going to Mykonos for a few years. Two years ago, I decided to take my husband (before he was my husband) - we never came back after then. We were seated promptly, no complaints there. It took a while for the waiter to come and take our order. I ordered a salad and my husband ordered meat. When my salad arrived, some of the lettuce was still dirty. I mean chunks of dirt. I complained to the waiter who brought me another salad. No apology. His excuse was "You know, we wash it here, but sometimes the dirt just doesn't come off" - something to that extent. We paid our bill and we never came back. I told my friend (who's Greek) the story and she said that the restaurant got bought out by the the Poles and the food has been going downhill from then. If you want some authentic Greek food, I recommend GreekTown - it's right off of I94 and lots of choices for your tastebuds.

I am a huge fan of Greek food, so I love this place. I am not Greek, though, so I can't testify as to whether the food is completely authentic or not, but it tastes pretty darn good. I have Greek friends who come here and like it. The saganaki, taramosalata, skordalia, and crema caramele are divine. The wait staff is extremely nice, too. I'm not sure whether I'd dine in next time, I think that I'd rather do take-out now that I know it's an option.

The first time I tried this restaurant, I did carry out. The food was good. Recently, my co-workers and I decided to hit this place up for a lunch. The food was not bad but we were all very disappointed with the service. The waitstaff was quite slow and not attentive at all. The busboys, on the other hand, were wonderful. I might go back, but not for lunch. And if I did go back, I would make sure i'm not doing anything after dinner as I might be there all night.

The saganaki was really good... but then again, have you really ever had bad saganaki??? Other than that, not too much else to say. The food was OK.... not sure if it was the food at Mykonos, or maybe I'm just not a huge fan of Greek food.... Service was alright.

The food was average at best. The service was terrible. Our waiter was just plain mean. He overcharged us and when we politely pointed it out, he snatched the check out of my wife's hands and stormed away angrily. I won't go back here. There are plenty of better Greek restaurants in the Chicago area.

Food is pretty bad ... Waiters that hate their jobs and are very apathetic ... Takes long time to order and when you do the food is not great ... I live in Niles, I'm Greek and and i wish there was another Greek restaurant close by that we could actually go to... this is why i visit this once a year only in emergencies...

This place has great food. I've been there twice, and got lamb both times. the lamb loin was so tender and flavorful, and the braised lamb was very tender, fall off of the bone. i just wish the meat portions were a little bigger. besides that, one of my favorite places to eat in niles, and its much better than the other greek resturant down the street.

I can't think of a single good thing to say about this restaurant except that after telling us that we couldn't get 2 separate checks, our waiter did give us a tape with our separate charges on it. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The first thing I noticed was the eerie blue lighting on one side of the restaurant -- like a park restroom. The restaurant was completely full and our dining companions had chosen it based on a prior experience there which gave us a false impression that we would get a good meal here. First came stale sesame Greek bread accompanied by little wrapped pats of melting butter. eek. My $13.95 Greek half chicken was tough and gamy -- I left most of it. It was accompanied by a plate of way over cooked white rice, canned grayish peas, and an awful tasting potato wedge. I must add that I've never had a bad potato in a Greek restaurant before. My husband's, so called, swordfish kabob was not a kabob at all. At $19.95 it was a paltry serving, also accompanied by overcooked rice and two half slices of pink tomato. Our companions said they enjoyed their lamb, but it looked completely unappetizing covered in a pale yellow "sauce". For dessert we got a large piece of mediocre baklava. Way overpriced for the quality of the food. We'd never go back.

New to the area and thought we would give it a shot. I should have checked Yelp first. An older Greek man was our server and we asked about the lunch specials and he said the "whole menu" was a lunch special. Right. My husband ordered Gyros and Fries and got charged for the dinner plate of Gyros. He paid $12 instead of $5 because the waiter said he got more meat than the lunch special. What? BTW - no fries in sight. The waiter seemed annoyed that our appetizer plates were in front of us when he brought out the meal. I am sorry - but are we supposed to bus our table? He should remove the used plates and then set our new plates in front of us. Weird. My MIL and I both ordered salads that arrived on dishes that were crusted with food on the bottom. My husbands water glass had a lipstick smear on it. When we questioned the waiter he gave us some lame excuse about the dirty dishes - no apology. He seemed totally annoyed with us. If I would have discovered that filthy plate before I handed it to him to take away after our meal -I would have not taken one bite. No excuse for not cleaning your dishes. Gross. Gross. Gross. We won't be coming back.

My husband and I have had a number of meals at this restaurant in the last year. Most of the meals have been fine and it is easier for us to get to this restaurant than to go to Greek Town. the lamb dishes are always pretty good, but the accompanying vegetables (usually canned peas) are always overcooked and mushy. The saganaki is good and is one of our favorites. One annoying thing that we have noticed is that Greek diners get much better service. The last time we were at this restaurant on a night when the place was not busy, we waited almost 10 minutes before a waiter approached our table. Meanwhile, a party of 3 Greek diners were seated after us at the table behind us and the waiter (who turned out also to be our waiter) was all over them. Turns out they hadn't been to the restaurant for 5 years, but still they were treated like royalty. Quite honestly this pissed me off enough that I do not know that we will go to this place again for a long time.

We were told by Greek friends that this is the only Greek restaurant that does not use frozen food and that appears to be true. Had thier combination plate and the Dolmades were better than I've had in Greek Town. My wife had the Greek style 1/2 chicken and shrimp and said both were excellent. The Baklava was also excellent, not too sweet and a very good size portion. The place has a reputation of filling quickly. We arrived at 5:30 PM and only a few tables were taken. By 6:15 it was pretty much filled. There can be waits I am told. Would rate it at 5 stars on the food but the service while efficient was cool. Would certainly go back. mykonosgreekrestaurant.c…
