I want to give this place 6 stars :D Seriously, get an Aztec. Why? Because it's a brownie. Topped with frozen custard. And then that sublime combo is topped with hot fudge. Think they're finished? Nah, throw some cinnamon on it (and that's really the artist's touch). Cherry on top and *then* they're done topping the thing. Favorite dessert, hands down!!!

Found this place on yelp after another place was closed. SO great and delicious! It's a cute throwback place. You don't actually go inside. It's either walk up or drive thru which is pretty cool. Really great customer service; girl was explaining how things worked since I had never been there before. To be fair, I was also the only one there so I'm not sure how fast service is there during their peak hours, but it was pretty fast service! Prices are good. I just wish they carried more than 3 flavors of custard at a time. BUT, their mix-ins- there are A LOT of them! I got heath bar and omg it was BIG chunks of heath and it was so good! If I'm back in the area, I will be definitely coming back for more!

I drove by on my way to to Tighthead Brewery and had to stop on the way back! Its bright and there were a lot of cars around. My husband works in the area and did not know Greg's was around. We joined the lines and it didn't take much time at all. They have so many selections to choose from that it could take awhile for you to decide what you wanted. They offer three mini sundaes which were the perfect size. We got a mini turtle sundae and The Elvis sundae. There is plenty of seating all around the area that can accomodate large crowds.. I wish i lived closer!
(4)Effie D.
Cute local spot. We almost missed it since its hidden toward the back, but the large sign caught our attention. They have plenty of benches and even some picnic tables outside. Lots of selections. We ordered the turtle split which comes with chocolate custard (we asked for vanilla), pecans, banana, whipped cream, caramel, hot fudge and a cherry on top. Pretty good. Will come back if we're in area again.
(4)Susan S.
Good treat on a warm day, warning lot of ice cream the banana split will feed 3. My favorite is the turtle sundae.
(4)Benjamin L.
Love this place. Getting into it is a but challenging but worth it. Limited seating but who cares this custard is top notch. I noticed a dairy queen small one down the road, no one was there, everyone was at Gregs, like they should be. Go away corporate you suck. GREG, you rule. Bad ass place.
(5)Adam C.
Tried Greg's Custard today for the first time. Just amazing is all I can say. I'm afraid I'll end up skipping meals so I can just eat custard from Greg's for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Forget all other ice cream, yogurt, or smoothie places. If it's not Greg's, it's garbage.
(5)jim s.
the custard and waffle cone were pretty good but the service was great! it was so great to see high school aged kids really hustling and acting like they cared about giving good fast service.....
(4)Michael K.
Having heard good things about this custard stand, we took the kids for a treat. They have an unbelievable amount of different sundaes on their menu! I didn't count but there is at least 20 to choose from. We ended up getting the kids just simple small cones. Holy Cow! There small cone is huge! I can't imagine what a large looks like! I ordered a caramel coffee malt...Heaven! Good thing we don't live nearby or they would get all my money!
(4)William S.
Awesome! Only downside is it's walk up only with only a few benches to sit on outside.
(4)Mary Jane T.
We happened upon Gregs after a Yelp search for dessert. Thank you, Yelp, for not steering us wrong. The hot fudge sundae was a great end to Portillos.
(5)Ryan E.
This place has changed my life. It seems like the only thing people eat nowadays is froyo so I've gotten accustomed to it. I saw this place pop up a bit ago and decided to stop in and give the custard a chance - I was blown away. It's like I lost 5 years of my life eating that froyo garbage - but I assure you I'm making it up now with Greg's Frozen Custard on the map.
(5)Mr H.
Between Highland Park and Mundelein, I honestly think you pass 20 ice cream/gelato/custard shops. Greg's is worth the drive. Nostalgic and delicious.
(4)Jon A.
Custard. I've had my share of frozen custard between Milwaukee and Chicago, and this place is just another stand ... nothing spectacular. I have the Elvis Sundae. Nothing special. IMHO, head to Tasty Freeze in Grayslake or even Shirl's in Waukegan for better service, better prices, and a place to sit down. One has to drive around Auto Zone to get there - I missed the entrance three times. Not cool. I think I talked to the owner there as well and he was a little disturbed that I was taking pictures of my sundae and posting them to Twitter and Instagram ... sad times ... I probably won't go back again ... unless I wanted something just to satisfy my sweet tooth. Sorry, Greg's Frozen Custard. Try harder next time.
(2)Rose J.
I used to be a HUGE fan of Greg's custard (read my previous review). I recently visited a few days ago and I was sorely disappointed at the quality of their custard ice cream. It's not as thick or as rich as it used to be. In fact, it tasted like regular soft-serve ice cream. It did NOT have the signature custardy flavor, at all! OREO CHEESECAKE CUSTARD: strong flavor of artificial cheesecake flavoring...made it taste like coconut ice cream with oreo bits. No one liked this one and it was thrown out VANILLA CUSTARD: their regular vanilla custard ice cream tasted like regular soft-serve ice cream. In fact, when I gave my ice cream to my mom, she asked if it was McDonald's ice cream?! I used to love this place b/c their quality was amazing. I'm not sure if there has been a change in management or change in the way they make their ice cream, but it's definitely not what it used to be. IMPORTANT: they need to change their entry lane into the store b/c you cannot legally turn left into their plaza. You have to do a U-turn and then turn left into their plaza. It's very inconvenient. Before, we used to just turn in to Burger King's parking lot and walk to their store. I hope they fix that issue b/c it's VERY dangerous, especially on such a busy street!
(2)Jenny K.
Whenever I have a craving for ice cream or custard, Greg's is one of the first places I think of! I've gotten the strawberry shortcake, turtle sundae, and have tried my sister's butterfinger. All 3 were great and I love the creaminess of the custard! Also, the mini's are the perfect size. Not too big but not too small and you can easily share with another person. Definitely coming back :)
(5)Nanci G.
Good ice cream good price... I tried the small turtle Sunday really good. My husband tried the banana split with fruit on top not syrup everything we order was good
(5)Pam D.
Good frozen custard. I had a banana split. I haven't had one of those in probably 30 years. Hubby had pineapple upside down custard. We were both happy with out choices and would stop in again if we are ever in the area.
(4)Amy A.
Cute place. You'll have to enter through the AutoZone parking lot to get to Greg's Today, as usual, a sweet staffer was there. She was quick and filled the cup up. Why a cup? becuase custard melts crazy fast. So eat it there and in a cup. A cone gurantees a hot mess. custardlist.com/stands/G… That is the link to the daily specials. Today was the yummy Chocolate Toffee in a cup for about $2.50. I will be coming back b/c the Kahlua one is supposedly the best. So i gave four stars since they are very good, but i can't name anything spectacular. But on a summer night, i love sitting on a curb near the stand and listen to their 50's music while trying one of their malts, which had been my previous go-to.
(4)Belinda O.
Just left this place. Beautiful menu with lots of sundaes to choose from. The taste wasn't too amazing. It was just as delicious as culvers frozen custard. Which is still pretty darn delicious!
(4)Michael N.
If you blink, you'll miss it. It would have to be a pretty long blink, and you'd be driving, so you probably wouldn't want to have your eyes closed for that long either. Come to think of it, get one of those medical tools that holds your eyes open like if you were getting Lasik eye surgery. Or you could just look up the address and you won't miss it. Greg's is tucked in between Autozone and a storage facility (I think?). It is really packed in there off 45. You know what else is packed? The amount of frozen custard they put in your cone or cup! Greg's takes "one scoop" to a.....HO......NUVVA.....LEVOOO (a-whole-nother level). I'm kind of a plain jane, so I just get one scoop of chocolate in a cone...but its so good. My family members usually get the turtle sundae and I just drool looking at it. I would go to Greg's over any other frozen custard shop, (I'm looking at your Culvers!). Yay for another awesome Mundelein restaurant!
(5)Ashley S.
It's frozen custard. What else do you want to know? It's wet, cold, creamy, delicious, refreshing, thick............ it's frozen custard people! The place is cute, they have picnic tables outside and the staff is friendly. The prices are a little high, but nothing above Culvers or a frozen custard shop. I'd go back.
(5)Moe T.
Greg's serves up great custard. Love these little spots that do what they do best
(4)Angelique D.
Personally, I would have given Greg's a 5 star rating, but my family wasn't as happy with their choices as I was. Kahlua custard with brownie mix in and hot fudge volcano cup was delicious! Hubby was missing bacon on his Elvis sundae. Kids liked, but didn't love their choices. The list of prepacked pint flavors was impressive and very tempting.
(4)Shannon S.
Yum! I have to admit that the first time I tried Greg's Custard I wasn't impressed as I had custard in Sycamore, IL. from Ollie's. However, fast forward and with 3 kids in tow we love this place. Greg's is simple, delicious, refreshing, and a place you have to try. During the summer it's nice to sit out on their benches and enjoy or stay in your car with the A/C. Either way it is a treat worth every penny and drop.
(5)Neichel C.
Been coming here since it opened. I don't live in town anymore but every time I come to visit my family I have to go at least a few times. Everything is amazing but my personal favor is the raspberry sundae. This time I added bananas. Yum.
(5)Maxwell G.
When I order, i paid for my food, waited 7 minutes didn't get it they forgot.... When I got it, it was ok tasting when needing something sweet, the music was better then the food. I have had Culvers and had more in depth taste. I would suggest Oscars in Brookfield WI better food better service.
(2)Cecily P.
WOW. I've been hearing about Greg's for years, and always wondered if it would live up to the hype when I finally got my butt over there. Well, all I can say is that it absolutely did. I've never been much of a frozen custard eater, but man, was this stuff good. I had the cantaloupe (flavour of the day), which honestly tasted like the fruit had been mashed up and creamed and swirled into the cone. Not overly sweet, nor too heavy, which pleasantly surprised me. My companion had a caramel/Heath sundae, which was rich and fantastic. The menu is quite extensive, and you can mix and match your own flavours if you like. And who would have thought it would be such a hot spot at 9 PM on a Thursday night in the 'burbs? Delicious - I'm hooked for the summer. Sorry, waistline! Only drawbacks to this place are a lack of seating when it's busy, and the service is slow when there are a lot of people. Also, the 9 o'clock closing time can be a real bummer on beautiful summer nights!
(4)Mike D.
If you haven't had it, you need to try it. This is the real deal my friend, no friggin gummys, just the good eats.
(4)Sy S.
Greg's is a perfect place to end a warm summer night with the family. Great service, nice people, and the best custard around without a doubt.
(5)Harley P.
Great place. It's a crime they are not open in the winter. Note to you newbies, don't walk up to the window until you're ready to order. The rest of us are in a hurry, because it's delicious!!! MOVE IT CHESTER!
(4)Kim B.
I'm confused as to why Greg's is so popular. I've tried frozen custard at many places in the Midwest and Greg's is at the bottom of my list. If you're looking for the best, make the drive up to Kopp's in Wisconsin. If you're looking for something closer, try Andy's frozen custard in Evanston. Compare either of these with Greg's and I'm sure many reviewers will change their mind about good frozen custard.
(2)Danny B.
This place is the bomb! Just wish it was open year around! Can't wait until the summer! i wish this place sold custard throughout the year!
(5)Alex S.
Are you one of those people who has to take a picture of everything they eat? Before anyone touches or takes a bite of their dish, you have to get a nice 8 megapixel shot on your iphone 4S with which you then proceed to post on instagram using the Low-Fi filter . . . admittedly, that might be me, kind of. So what really ticked me off about this place is that it was so good I was all but finished before I realized I'd forgotten to take a picture! Sigh . . . first world problems right? I have not always been the biggest fan of frozen custard; it's kind of the awkward family middle child who is kind of like ice cream and kind of like frozen yogurt but in the end, really hasn't carved out a substantial niche for itself in the arena of frozen desserts. I'm convinced that half the people who offer frozen custard probably don't even know what it actually is. Greg's definitely does. The custard I had in my sundae was straight up vanilla, which tasted absolutely amazing. You could clearly feel the denser and creamier consistency and the vanilla flavor was very very defined. However, where Greg's hits a home run is in the multitude of options at your disposal. Like frozen yogurt, the experience of eating custard is fully brought out in the toppings you choose and how those extras harmonize with the custard. I ordered the Elvis Sundae which had peanut butter sauce and bananas. The Elvis combo is by and large my favorite combo for anything be it a sandwich or smoothie so while I was fairly certain I would enjoy this little brew, I was curious to see how the individual elements would work with the custard. I must say that my expectations were vastly exceeded, owing mainly to how the peanut butter sauce brought together the entire sundae. Eating the custard and sauce together was already an arousing experience in itself but with the added bananas . . . absolutely inspiring. What I really appreciated was that they didn't overload on the sauce; I feel like frozen custard stands/places I've frequented in the past tend to over-sauce on hot fudge, caramel, peanut butter sauce, etc. probably to cover up either the lack of flavor or the watered-down consistency in the custard; in the end, you're left annoyed with an overwhelming ratio of sauce to custard. From my own order to my friend's cups, I think it's safe to say that the people at Greg's have the measurements ballparked fairly well. My only tiny little problem was the apparent lack of a garbage can. The majority of us searched high and low but in the end, we all came up empty. Maybe we're all just really incompetent at the skill of garbage can finding but in the end, I shouldn't have to be well versed in that particular skill . . . This review feels a little insufficient just because I've only had one sundae out of what feels like a thousand choices. However, from the comments my friends made to what I've experienced for myself, this place really knows how to do frozen custard right and just may be on the brink of helping this frozen dessert break through in this ice cream/gelato/frozen yogurt dominated scene.
(5)Lisa C.
Went here for the first time. Loved it! Definitely recommend the turtle sundae! Big portions so a small one is definitely enough! Definitely recommend this place
(5)Meghan H.
This place is great - a true hidden gem! I got a single scoop of their chocolate custard and it was so delicious and creamy (it was a 7oz cup all for only $2.80)!!! Great local business!
(4)Taylor M.
I went here last night after seeing a sign that they were open for business on March 31st. We looked up the special of the day and it was mint chocolate. I was expecting the green stuff with chocolate chips but I was wrong. It was so much better than that! It was literally chocolate custard with mint flavoring. Like a frozen thin mint girl scout cookie. To make things better, they had a thin mint sundae! It had hot fudge and Oreos on top. Super yummy on my tummy! My friend ordered the Aztec sundae which was vanilla custard with fudge, cinnamon, and brownie crumbles. Of course I stole a bite... Or ten :). It was amazing as well. I love the atmosphere of Greg's. It's is like an old school drive in and they play oldies music outside while you enjoy your custard! I cannot wait for many more summer nights at Greg's savoring the frozen custard!
(5)Stacy S.
After living in St. Louis for 5 years, it was engrained in me best frozen custard = Ted Drewes. So, when my friend told me Greg's has the best frozen custard and was BETTER than Ted Drewes...I was skeptical. Wow, was I wrong. I went to Greg's for the first time last Friday night and there was a line even though it was ~50 degrees outside! It was well worth the wait. I got the Aztec which had brownie, fudge, and topped with cinnamon. Sooooo Yummy! I have to say, Greg's IS by far the BEST frozen custard I have had. I was overwhelmed with the selection of flavors and toppings. Several benches surrounded the stand and it looked like a great place to hang out on summer nights. My only thing is it is a 30-40 minute drive from me. I wish it was closer, but definitely worth the drive! A note to Greg's: you need to open more locations!!!
(5)Ali R.
Yummmm! You can't go wrong with any sundae, however, I love selecting the flavor of the day and making my own! Each day they offer a new flavor which is a testament to how fresh their frozen custard is. Their most popular sundaes (turtle, drumstick) are offered in a mini size which if I lived closer, would be my choice. But since I was ready for full on goodness, I elected the Aztec sundae - cinnamon, hot fudge, and brownie...simply delicious. They don't have much seating but the beats will keep you swaying as your digging into your delicious frozen custard!
(5)Levent T.
Thick and creamy custard. Cool rock-n-roll music playing throughout the lot. Not many shady spots to chill on a hot day because zero indoor seating.
(4)Gregory B.
Okay, I'm alone in this, but my custard is always vanilla with nothing added and this is the least flavorful vanilla I've ever had. Nothing wrong with the texture and consistency. Maybe this place is rated so highly by folks who like other flavors and for the fact that Chicago suburbs are a custard desert.
(3)Craig S.
My kids absolutely love this place, and the owners are great people (they always chat up the customers and look for ways to improve their product or service)! I especially love the mint chip shake, it has Baskin-Robbins beat any day. I wish it was open year round, I miss me some Greg's right now when it's 0 degrees!
(5)Cara D.
Seriously delicious. Totally worth the drive. There is no outdoor seating, so if you are still craving it even though its 30 degrees outside, just turn up the heat in your car and get to lickin'! I love this place, they make their own custard, their flavors are amazing. It is an American institution as far as I am concerned. Check it out!
(5)Val A.
One word: DELICIOUS! I'm obsessed with their chocolate shake, so I'd recommend getting that. You also can't go wrong with whatever the flavor of the day is. Actually, you can't go wrong with anything! Go now and eat some before they close for winter!
(5)Brent K.
This place is like heaven without the angels! Greg makes me very, very happy :)
(5)Kim M.
I absolutely love this place. It never disappoints and always tastes fresh and delicious. We stock up on pints the week before they close for winter so we can enjoy it all winter long. My favorites are the turtle sundae, drumstick sundae and lucky charm shake.
(5)Ann N.
Creamy goodness. They only create two flavors per day, but keep some in their freezer to share. Lots of combinations and add-ins! Creativity is their specialty. They have great 50's & 60's music playing. The seating area needs an update, the grass mowed more frequently because in the evenings the grass seemed full of little critters (which creeped me out!). They get marked down one star for being open seasonally and the unkempt grass. I'd suggest adding some handicap-friendly seating. Great ice cream. Making the Custard is a disappearing craft and Custard stores are few & far between. Get it while it lasts. Delicious fun for all ages.
(4)andrea m.
Oh my effing god. I am so sad I never knew about this place sooner, but I'm so excited that I know about it now! I don't know if I've ever had frozen custard before, but this shit is good. It's way better than any ice cream and the texture is perfect. I'm lactose intolerant and this place hasn't upset my stomach, either, which is awesome. I had the s'more sundae and I think it's probably the thing thing I've ever eaten in my entire life. Go here, just don't get in my way.
(5)Tyler K.
You know this place is good when of 34 reviews, it has a five star rating. I had a double scoop in a cup of pistachio and chocolate custard. And it was quick and delicious. I'm happy!
(5)Randy S.
Stressed spelled backwards is desserts, and that is one thing you will not be is stressed when greeted by the great staff of Gregs Frozen Custard. On my journey to Gregs I ordered the wonderful large Lucky Charms shake. This was a real winner for the money. I finished it faster than I should have Berrrr.., but I was sitting pretty after that shake and very HAPPy. Gregs+Frozen Custard+wonderful staff= No Worries and no stress. 5 Stars!
(5)Maria N.
If you want to taste the best frozen custard this side of the Wisconsin border, here's your place. Incredable. I have never seen such an array of flavors ever, and one is more yummy than the next. It's a seasonal spot ( wish it was open year round ) A must , I can't eat anything else, the Mango will blow you away, so will the ameretto. You haven't lived till you have had Greg's frozen custard, trust me.
(5)Maya A.
If Jesus was still alive, he'd get his frozen fix here. Be prepared to stare at the menu for 20 mins- so many delicious choices it's hard to decide!
(5)rin b.
OMG! That's all I have to say. The thirty minute drive's worth it for authentic custard. You can buy pints, sundaes, and more. Very friendly! And their flavors of the day are online! How awesome is that? You won't feel bad eating in the car because everyone else is doing the same! Lol. Definitely go!
(5)Patrick C.
This is a great business and a credit to Greg and his staff. I was there recently and had the thin mint sundae - chocolate mint frozen custard with oreos and fudge. Top quality custard made fresh daily. Highly recommended. Also fun drive up atmosphere with 50's music. Also for lunch they have different hot dogs on the menu.
(5)Jon C.
Long time stalker and for my first review Greg's has a special place in my heart and stomach. Coming home to IL, this is always a must. It was the summer of 2000, my little brother just came into the world and I was a young lad trying this strange new food after being brought by my mother. To me this was a surprise, from a woman who never eats dessert (not counting fruit) she enthused about this place. Walking up unsure of what I want, my overbearing but loving mother ordered vanilla custard in a cup. Ever since then I've been hooked. Great price for unbelievable custard. You can see it freshly made through the window, coming out in long ribbons out of the machine. You can never go wrong with plain custard, but ever since I first had a turtle brownie sundae, I've always ordered off that huge menu. They have different flavors of the day which you can get fresh, or if you're craving for one of those specialties you can always order a pint of it (though to be honest a pint never lasts that long in my household). The outside has plenty of parking in the back, though I wish there were more places to sit and eat especially on those nice summer night, and though it is a pain turning into the place, the custard and service more than makes up for any small gripes that I have.
(5)Jeff N.
Only regret of moving from Buffalo Grove to downtown was that there is no Greg's or even anything remotely like a Greg's in the city. Consitently the best custard in Chicagoland. Starts with great custard. All the toppings are fresh and tasty. Sundae's big enough to split. Lots of oldie music piped in. Counter staff always nice. They even have great hot dogs for godsake! If you are in the area you must stop in. If you spoil your dinner, TOO BAD!! p.s. Hey Cecily P! You say 'WOW' but only give 4 stars. What's the problem here?
(5)Toshi I.
BETTER THAN ICE CREAM any day!!!! My bro treated us to dessert and I had the frozen pistachio and had I not had a full meal at Journey's End a few blocks away, I would have gone for a whole sundae. There's something about the consistency of frozen custard. These flavors were not too sweet and much creamier than ice creams. I cannot believe there are no reviews for this place. Proud to be the FIRST!!!! Went back and had the brownie chocolate on my most recent trip back to Chicago. YUMMY!
(5)A. L.
Delicious. Found this place during a recent trip thanks to Yelp and went 3 times in 2 days. The caramel apple cider shake....oh man. I had 2 in one day. Friendly staff, and simple menu consisting of about 2 dozen shakes/sundaes, and then regular scoops. Vanilla and chocolate always on offer and they have a calendar telling you what the flavor of the day will be that day. I saw pistachio, caramel, snickers, mint, pumpkin and others on the calendar for various days. The custard was thick and tasty and they made an excellent shake. We also had a dreamcicle shake with vanilla and orange soda (awesome) and a strawberry shortcake sundae with strawberries, shortcake and custard. One of the my favorites. They close seasonally though, and this year they close on Nov 23.
(5)Ellie S.
This place is wonderful. On any given day (during the season when the place is open) you can choose vanilla, chocolate or the flavor of the day. Then you get the choice of about a million toppings as well as sauces and whip cream to put on a make your own sundae. You can also choose from the huge variety of sundaes they have already created or just enjoy a scoop on a cone or in a bowl. The frozen custard is fresh and the toppings are too. This is my favorite place for a cold treat on a nice day. There is no indoor seating here. You just drive up and park and either get it to go or even better sit down at one of the tables or benches outside. There are actually quite a few (mostly shaded) spots for such a small place. You can also buy already packaged frozen custard in a variety of flavors to go.
(5)Gen T.
This is the best "ice cream" (actually, it's custard but it's the best of any frozen cream I've found). I've loved absolutely everything I've gotten here. My favorite is the volcano cup which is like a blizzard - your choice of mix in - but it also has your choice of topping. I especially like the oreo cookie mixin with hot fudge on top. I can say with confidence however that anything you get here you will not be disappointed. The service is always incredible, there's rarely a wait, they're open fairly late on weekends, the music they play outside is pleasant. Definitely recommend this place.
(5)Mike J.
Excellent home-made frozen custard. You can't go wrong with the Butterfinger Extra Thick!
(5)Marissa B.
This is a great place to go if you like toppings. The volcano is basically filled with toppings - it's great because I am a caramel lover. I've heard from others that the hot fudge has an odd taste, but I've always been a happy customer.
(5)Andrew S.
Great custard. Much better than ice cream.
(4)Travis N.
This place is one of my favorite stops when the weather starts to turn out of the winter cold. I have tried alot of things on the menu and everything is great but I have 1 that sticks out far above the rest. They have something called the Dreamsicle Shake. Remember those ice cream bars growing up with the cream center wrapped in orange popsicle? Well imagine the best bite of that popsicle but in a milk shake. Thats all I can say on the subject.
(5)khrystal I.
Some of the best frozen custard I have ever tasted! Gregs rocks!
(5)Bex F.
I looooovvveee this custard! Oh man, yes, it's that good. Lots of flavors, lots of toppings, lots of different funky sundaes....seriously, you cannot go wrong here. Well, except when you try to hit them up in the winter time when they're closed. Another reason why winter is a time of mourning.
(5)Greg G.
I love this place. How can you go wrong when you have the owner of Bill's Pub running this place. They have one flavor of the day so it is worth looking up the calendar online before you go in. I highly recommend pistachio.
(5)Kristin B.
This place is awesome! My family loves this place so much that we get 10 gallons of custard to eat @ home when Greg's closes in the winter....I kid you not...we NEED our custard all winter until Greg's opens again in the spring. Favorites: cookies and cream, anniversary cake and just plain 'ol vanilla and chocolate. Greg's is a blast from the past with oldies music playing and delicious menu items....best deal ever: hot dog w/chips for 1.50- yum!
(5)Steve W.
I try to come here at least once a week! The pistachio frozen custard is my favorite flavor, and the fluffernutter sundae is very delicious as well!
(5)dilbert z.
I'm a believer. Greg's frozen custard even beats Ted Drews in St. Louis. It's the best I have had anywhere. I would challenge those who claim gelato is king of the cold desserts to taste some Greg's frozen custard. They'll throw the gelato away. Odd that there's this fancy gelato place up in Grayslake that charges an arm and leg for a pint of grainy, icy gelato-like substance (gelato should be absolutely silky smooth), and you can get two pints of Greg's for less, and it just completely outclasses it.

Excellent frozen custard. We discovered Greg's this summer and are now regulars. My favorite is the chocolate/vanilla swirl, but strawberry and raspberry (flavors of the day) are close seconds.
