Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

A nice little spot. Very accommodating and friendly service along with delicious food. Have a wide selection of lunch specials - perfect for a work lunch. I ordered the Steak Tacos - great flavor and the meat wasn't your typical tough, chewy steak. It was really delicious. Looking forward to going back!

My wife and I have eaten here twice and have not been disappointed yet! Excellent food.
(5)Karin O.
Friendly dining at its best! Mole was particularly fantastic on the ground beef enchiladas - but the sleeper hit was the simple yet delicious cheese quesadillas. Margaritas with real lime juice (the pitcher was a good deal!) 2nd day open today, I'm excited to go back!

We tried Las Fuentes for the first time and we found a jewel of a restaurant! The salsa was delicious! The guacamole was very good, although I would have preferred a little more spice. Added the salsa and it was perfect. My husband had home made tamales and I had shrimp tacos. Beautiful spices on both dishes. We will definately go back.

In the last few months since they have been open, I have been here at least once a week. Their whole menu is phenomenal, but if you are on a budget, their lunch menu is truly out of this world. The prices are insanely cheap and the food is as fresh as can be. Also, it is consistently prepared and I haven't had a single issue yet. The staff is super friendly and even let my fiancee and I eat on their outdoor patio with our dog. The place is huge and I doubt there will ever be a wait. I simple can't stress enough how good this place is. Its really hard to find places that will serve consistently good food at a fair price, but this place has it down pat.

"Food was fantastic. My husband had steak and shrimp fajitas meat was very tender and flavorful. I had the shrimp tacos, the shrimp had a garlic and lemon flavor which had a pleasant taste with beans and rice. I always enjoy my meal here. Fantastic food with great service.

In a building that used to be chammps and "Crazy Jaws" which lasted only a couple months, this real estate is going south of the border, but unlike crazy jaws this one might last. Sharing a parking lot with a car dealership this restaurant fills a void Morton Grove really needed some good mexican food. Really roomy inside it does still look like a sports bar, well maybe a mexican sports bar. I had a strawberry margarita and it was prbly one of the best margaritas i had in my life!! I also had the Tinga Poblana which was really good, it a mix of steak with chorizo served with beans and rice and my fav plantains! Gotta go back and try more stuff including the flan. Overall great place, kinda empty but dont mind as long as the food and margaritas are good!
(4)Arcelia P.
Had dinner there last night and it was an OK place. Had the fish tacos and while the flavor was good, they were a too salty for my taste and I like salty. Service was good, drinks were good, salsa was OK. Needs a little more time to get it right.

My husband loves Mexican food, I am Mexican so I don't exactly crave it and am usually disappointed with what I get and how much it costs, lol. I had the enchiladas with mole (one of each: chicken, chorizo and ground beef), the husband had the steak enchiladas with salsa verde and the kiddo had the chicken quesadillas. The food was flavorful, the meat was juicy, the mole was terrific and I really liked that they let me try all the meat combinations. I've been to many Mexican restaurants and have had many, many Mexican meals and this is the first time I have left a restaurant feeling like I actually had Mexican food.
(5)Diablo L.
Very spacious, had the steak enchiladas with mole' sauce , very good, quick service, nice bar area also....
(4)Gigi Y.
Service was very good, but food lacked lots of flavor. Was not wowed by any dish here. I will not be returning due to the flavorless food.
(2)Michelle K.
All I have to say is this place was NOT good! There was no flavor to the food at all! The portions are large but the prices are really expensive for Mexican food. My husband and I barely touched our entrees and the waitress had to be clueless cause when we told her that we didn't want it to go, she just came back with our bill. We just paid the bill and left! DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!
(1)Tony R.
the bar is nice went there sat nite bartender was terrific kind nice but then the owner came in looks like a bum starts verbally abusing bartender in front of everyone.what a jerk my wife was shocked i wanted to grab him by his greasy hair but i just took my wifes advice and just left.we just go there for great margaritas the lady serves us but not anymore.when the bartender leaves he will lose alot of customers. the food is very weak the only think hes got going is the nice pleasant bar tender what a jerk.

I've had this restaurant bookmarked for a few weeks now because of the great Yelp reviews. Now that I've dined here, I'm wondering if I got the address wrong. For starters, the chips were stale and sent back twice. The soda water was flat, luckily the bartender offered to open a new bottle for us. We waited over 30 minutes for our meals to arrive. Not sure why it took that long since our food looked gross and we believe was microwaved. Microwaved! If I wanted my food microwaved, I wouldn't go out to eat and shell out money for it. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas which was frozen vegetables layered with tons of oil. Gross. The beans & rice looked equally awful. To top it off, each place cost $10-$14. Nothing worse than spending over $30 for greasy, microwaved food. I hate writing bad Yelp reviews and rarely come across a highly rated Yelp restaurant only to discover the opposite. Perhaps, the daily cook called off or we went there on the wrong night?

I am excited to have an authentic Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. The food was delicious!! Presentation A+ and the Service was just SUPERB!! My family and I have been there several times since they open and this will be one of my regular restaurants. The owner and the rest of the staff are courteous, flexible, knowledgeable and make you feel as if you are the honored guest for dinner in their place. I cannot wait to return this weekend!!!!
(5)D J.
Services was great. We went there for a Thursday Lunch. Was delighted to see they have Chilaquiles. They weren't as outstanding as I've had in Mexico City. But they were the best I've had in this area. My husband got a combo plate with 1/2 Carne Asada. Very tender, moist and flavorful. He said the taco meat was also tasty. Looking forward to going back there soon and trying more of their dishes.
(4)Donna R.
This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. Used to eat at the one on Halstead when we lived in the city. Welcome to the burbs, Las Fuentes! Glad you're here!
(5)willma g.
The food was pretty good. I ordered the vegetarian enchilada and I thought they tasted pretty good, very unique and something I thought was really nice to eat for a vegetarian... I went with a large group so I thought the service was a little slow. The salsa was tasty! Fried Ice Cream wasn't very good, was a true Fried Ice Cream... OVer all great experience!!!

pitcher of Margaritas sucked, bartender coud not care less.

Last night I went to this restaurant with my daughter. The much older waitress - Snia O -had an attitude right from the start. The food was descent but the service was horrible. The two men sitting behind us actually paid for their drinks and left because of the service. I should not have even left a tip : (
(1)JK K.
once seated, took almost 20 minutes for a server to approach our table and asked what we wanted to drink - ordered lemonade, no ice and was served HOT lemonade....it was watered down urine...my girlfriend ordered water, which was probably the safest thing served....there were no napkins or silverware on our table, but the appetizer plates were there....dirty ones!!!! - chips and salsa were served, 30 minutes after we sat down....waitress finally took our order....food served an hour later....very bland - taco bell does better.....not once did the waitress come back and asked us if everything was ok - not once were our drinks refilled....when we asked for the check we were given the "hang on" brush off.....and the bill wasn't given to us, it was thrown at us......so little miss waitress that provided us with horrible service on 8/15/2014, all that in a nutshell explains the $1 tip we left for you....as well as the note we wrote on the receipt about the poor service....never again....
(1)David K.
Great mexican restaurant, i had a dish where the steak and chicken and cheese was served on a stone bowl. It was amazing, i use to think this particular location was cursed since prior restaurants all closed down but i am certain that las fuentes will be around for good.
(5)Patricia A.
Excellent food and service! Have been there three times and all three visits was a great experience!
(5)Debra S.
I am not from the local area, but my boyfriend and I have recently been frequenting this establishment. Unfortunately, their food has not proved to be their strong suit. We have sent our plates back to the kitchen on more than one occasion. So we find ourselves mostly visiting the bar for a cocktail, chips and salsa (which in my opinion has been the best thing on the menu) and some conversation. As a manager in the hotel/restaurant industry for the last 25 yrs I recognize and appreciate great service. This is the main reason we even find ourselves returning, because Hilda, the bartender, not only serves up a mean and delicious margarita, but she does so with a smile each and every time. Whether you're a regular or a newby Hilda and her team always make you feel happy and welcome. Just a side note about the owner which I've been reading about in previous posts. He does come in off the streets looking all disheveled and without even taking off his coat he walks around with a sour look on his face, pointing fingers, and barking out orders. Then I've noticed that out of the blue the owner starts seating Customers himself instead of allowing his available staff to do this. I honestly thought he was a car porter or an outside worker popping in on break. However, the manager appears to be a well groomed and friendly guy who has a professional appearance and well suited for the front of the house. Perhaps the owner should spend more time in the back of the house ensuring a better food selection and quality and have a bit more faith that he has hired good, hard working people and allow them to do the jobs they were hired to do. From an outsider looking in, his service staff seem to represent the restaurant very well. Honestly, if it weren't for Hilda and her great customer service we would be taking our business elsewhere as there are plenty of Mexican restaurants to chose from.

Went for the first time last week to have lunch with friends. They did a wonderful job on decorating. The place looks great. However, I was not at all impressed with the food. There are a ton of items to order off of the menu. I (along with several others) chose the steak quesadillas. When my food arrived, it looked like they had taken tacos and cut them in half. I'm used to having quesadillas cut into triangles and a little bit crispy. They were very stingy with the meat and they seemed to have some melted cheese in them. The presentation had a lot of be desired. The "quesadillas" had a thin, unripe tomato slice and some shredded lettuce thrown in the middle of the plate. We had to request guacamole and sour cream. Plus, my food was very salty. I did not send my food back because people had to get back to work. I want this place to succeed. Maybe we were there on a bad day when they were short staffed or something.
(2)Kevin S.
Since its been open we find ourselves hear at least 2x per week and still love it. margaritas are great and have found the dishes we love the most (for me churassco tipico las fuentes and for her steak enchiladas with spicy red sauce). Service is great, atmosphere is wonderful and keeps getting better. Still highly recommend
(5)Abelina K.
Not the best but clean and cozy. I ordered a margarita and a nice steak it was more than 50 dollars. Perfect for a date.
(3)Mary T.
Went there a few months ago, on a week night - late evening, just wanted to grab a drink and some chips and salsa. The restaurant was practically vacant (again, it was probably 10pm-ish), so I wasn't really sure how popular the place was - I had never been there before. Last night, I went there for dinner with a friend. It was a Sat night around 8pm and the place was definitely booming. But still plenty of parking. Service was speedy and friendly. We were given waters and chips and salsa to start off with. I asked the waitress for a recommendation, telling her that I really liked mole sauce, and she recommended the chicken enchiladas with mole - which I got. Chips were crunchy and the salsa had a good flavor, though not as much heat as I would have liked. The enchiladas were perfect - the mole was not overly sweet and you could definitely tastes the smokiness to it. I would have definitely ate a bowl of it. Haha. Large portions so I had enough for left overs today, which I lapped up. Next time I'm there, hopefully I can try a margarita!
(4)Lance R.
It has a good location. It's a standard type of mexican restuarant with standard Americanized mexican food. Good quality for a decent price. Could bring an office here or kids or come out with friends to drink. Nice wait staff and good bar with a decent selection of tequila. They have an outdoor seating area that is probably nice at night when traffic dies down but during the day it is on a busy street and not conducive to conversation. It should be full during lunches but is not. I don't know why since have lunch specials under $10.00 with chips and salsa they bring to you. I'll show pictures of my taco plate and the chips for reference.

This place is a vegetarian's dream. Their rice and beans are vegetarian. Plus, you can choose from a wide selection of non-meat appetizers and entrees. Of course, there are plenty of meaty items to choose from, too. The prices are good (margaritas are about ten bucks and meals are comparable to Outback prices or Chili's). There is a kids menu (and the staff is so sweet to kids). The bathrooms are clean and updated and the overall decor/ambience is fun and appealing to the eyes. There are large televisions in the bar area and the main seating area so you can watch soccer or baseball or football or whatever. Also, there is the option to sit outside on the patio (under a roof) or in the sun (there are umbrellas). I've been to this place three times (we live in Morton Grove) and will go back again for sure - date night or with the kids. I recommend the Nachos Azteca for an appetizer!

Update: We have been going regularly and I am disappointed to say that the great service has gone down the tubes. The last 3 times the service sucked. The first of those times one of our orders was enchiladas with beef filling. There were suppose to be 3. Only 2 were filled with meat. We brought this to the servers attention and he said the manager would have to do something about it. Well we never saw a manager and when the bill arrived there was no adjustment at all in the price. So that was the first bad experience. The next 2 we had to keep hunting down the servers for water or anything also. Plus it took forever to get the check and then we had to wait for the servers both times to return with the credit card and receipt. We have made the choice not to go back for almost 2 months now. Their loss.
(2)Alex K.
Still loving this place. Here every Monday for 25% off 1/2 pitcher to full on M/T. The decor is spot on for every season. Francisco is the man and Edwin is always on his A game. Overall, an excellent restaurant. Great quality food at comfortable prices. You better believe my cinco de mayo will be here, Las Fuentes. ALWAYS MY FIESTA HEAVEN! GREAT MUSIC TO DANCE TO!
(5)Elaine M.
Service is great and the food is very good. I've been here too many times to count and I've never had a bad experience. Their house margaritas are my favorite and they offer several vegetarian options which are wonderful! I would very highly recommend Las Fuentes.
(5)Tina P.
Great Mexican food and friendly, attentive staff! Only losing 1 star because the signature margaritas are pretty expensive! I love the tilapia tacos. They have a great kick to them! The fried ice cream is the best I've had!
(4)Calin D.
My endless search for spicy Mexican continues. This go around, I tried Las Fuentes near Dempster/58 in Morton Grove. The chips were nice and sturdy, and the guacamole wasn't bad. The fish tacos were well more than enough to eat, and pretty good! The place was very busy and the server quick, but good at his job. The bus staff was also good. There are a lot of televisions for games, gigantic areas for families and events, and lots and lots of seating to be had inside and out. Not a bad choice if you have a big family or event you'd like to hold - call ahead!
(3)J F.
Food was good, drinks just ok. I ordered the combo 3 which is non meat and thought it was soooo good! Our party of 7 all enjoyed their food. I got a Strawberry Daiquiri and it wasn't anything special. Definately had better. Friend had a margarita and also it was just ok. Sercice was ok. Nothing amazing but fine. Definately would return for the food!
(4)Marilyn R.
Had the Churrascos "Las Fuentes" and it was wonderful!!! Came with sautéed plantains and black beans ....steak was cooked to perfection! Las Fuentes is a dependable neighborhood staple. Love it!!!
(5)Conor H.
Really good steak tacs. The music was great too so while I ate I felt like salsa dancing. Place was pretty empty, but then again I was there at 330
(4)Penny L.
Great for location. The interior is nice. I think the lights should be more dim during the evening. It was too bright. Needed to be more intimate. Price point is good if you plan to share dishes, up to four people per plate to make appetizer portions. May not be reasonable for a young family. Don't forget the soft tortillas on the side. Next time I'll ask for cilantro and onions on the side. Sangria was good. Service very good. The food was good. Local sports on tv well appreciated. Will comment on food in tips section. Would try again.
(3)Pam D.
Loved the hibiscus margarita. We both ordered steak based specials. The steak was lean, flavorful, but a bit tough. We pretty much liked all the fixings that came with the meal as well. The place is large and cheerful and very Mexican. I loved the candle lit alter next to the entrance. It added a touch of cool to the whole experience. It is a bit pricey, but we will be back for sure!!! I want to try their mole!
(4)Tobin h.
Great service. Great food. Great experience. I'd say a touch pricey but the quality and cleanliness justifies the price tag. They really get it here from top to bottom. Salsa was awesome! This is a destination restaurant for simple lunches all the way up to complex celebrations. Just a fabulous place!
(4)Amy K.
A great place with a large menu and reasonable prices. The outdoor patio is beautiful in the summer months. I've tried several items on the menu ranging from seafood to carne asada and was pleased with both. The salsa that is served before the meal is very flavorful and not too spicy. My husband loves spicy salsa and they bring some upon request. The space is big, so it's a great option for large groups.
(4)Maja K.
I really love this place. The chicken soup is a full meal and is so very delicious. I get it every time. The restaurant is exceptionally clean and comfortable--I don't remember the last time I sat in a booth that was not worn or sticky. And the staff is genuinely friendly and attentive. Very cool place.
(5)Melanie B.
Finally! A good Mexican restaurant near me. I'm kinda mad I waited so long to try this place. I brought my parents here a couple months ago for lunch and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. My boyfriend did find a chicken bone in his shredded chicken, but that just shows that they donor themselves. Management was quick to apologize and compensated for it... no harm done. Not a big deal. This time around my boyfriend and I came for an early Cinco de Mayo. I tried their special margarita and it's excellent. I got a combo meal... yum! Well definitely come back here whenever we want Mexican food!
(4)Foodie A.
Checked in for Cinco De Mayo with my friends. It was excellent! We drank the Las Fuentas Special Margaritas. Yum It was very pleasant.
(5)kavan s.
Just went here for dinner for the first time. Now open sign is still up. But they have been here 3 years he said. Never new that. It used to be a champs. I don't remember what year but I remember going with my father once. But this is a good place. The staff was very friendly. And the food was great and very reasonably priced. It was a tad spicy but I all mexican is and I should of guessed that. But it was great and I will definitely go back.
(5)Jim K.
What a pleasant surprise! Fantastic Mexican cuisine that's not run of the mill. We grew up in the area and remember this place as Champs. Some friends brought us here and we were bowled over. We started with shrimp nachos and margaritas for apps. Highly recommended! I had Tinga Puebla and my wife had Mole Chicken. Both were amazing. Not expected at all. The Tinga was a pulled pork dish with almost a vindaloo flavor. My mouth is still watering. I've always been a fan of Wholly Frijole in Lincolnwood for original Mexican cuisine but there's definitely a new chef in town. Service and price was good too.
(5)Kirsten V.
This place is SO OVERPRICED it's laughable. $32 for a TINY half pitcher of margaritas? They weren't that good. The guacamole was great, the black bean soup was bland. I ordered a Oaxacan tamale appetizer that was so sweet, it seemed like a dessert. My husband's enchiladas con mole were ok. Our friend ordered a chicken dish that didn't even remotely resemble the description on the menu. This was our second try of this place. Pretty sure it'll be our last.
(2)Josue J.
First of all, I'm Mexican, and I will never eat better Mexican food, than I can have my moms, so it is very hard for me to give any Mexican restaurant more than 3 stars. That being said, this place is good and the staff is very good. My kids had steak tacos and quesadillas, which were very good. I had the enchiladas, and again they are. Or like moms, but very respectable. My only compliant was the queso fundido con chorizo, they did not give enough chorizo, but everything was very good. They sat us in the back because we had 8 kids under the age of 9 and the place is very spacey. It didn't seem like the staff minded the kids at all. I would come back again if we were in the mood for Mexican food, and moms not home, lol.
(4)Vince C.
Overpriced and not good. The menu is overly complicated in its attempt to provide authentic Mexican dishes and modernized versions of the standard go-to combo plates. The failure is in be execution: the chicken is dry, the enchiladas are drowning in what should otherwise be just a drizzle of crema, the tortilla chips are stale and it is expensive. Dinner with 4 kids and to adults NO alcohol and NO dessert was $120 (I tipped $20 on $89). As a side note they have an awesome TV set up and I thought we should go have a few drinks and watch a game during dinner but they had a bunch of strange things like recorded Blackhawks game and swimming. When I requested anything it was met with sarcastic "Uh OK sure" so I just decided to use my misery to save others!
(1)Christina G.
Don't let the outside fool you. Yes it's ugly but they have good authentic food. Very nice service & delicious margaritas! (My favorite is Hibiscus) TV's everywhere for any game you wish to see,You can't ask for more!
(4)Dave V.
So the plan was to stop at Tommy's for a couple brews before heading to our destination but we couldn't get a parking spot so we went next door to Las Fuentes. Walking in, the decor and atmosphere was definitely that of a friendly Mexican cuisine establishment and seemed very family friendly, which surprised us 'cuz we just thought it was a bar. We sat at the bar and they brought us chips and salsa for free, which is nice and i almost expect at n authentic Mexican restaurant like this. The drinks seemed to be very fairly priced. $4 a beer for my coronas which is about right and $5 for my buddy's rum n coke which she poured strong (the way we like it). The only negative i have to say about this place off hand was that the service was very slow and inattentive. It took a bit long to order my second drink and way too long for me to try to close out only because she wasn't looking. They seemed way over staffed but it was a Friday going into the dinner hours so i assume they were expecting a lot of people shortly. That all said, i will definitely come by sometime to give the food a try and hopefully raise the stars up from 3.
(3)Sue V.
This place rocks! Friendly, accommodating staff, delicious food, good size portions and not too expensive! What more can you ask for?
(5)Tania K.
This was my first time here with a friend. We were looking for a place around that opened later than 10pm. We had the NICEST waiter!! He was so friendly and did not rush us one bit, which makes you feel so relaxed and welcome. The menu selection was huge. They even have a vegeterian list on the menu. Food was delicious. The rice and beans were the best I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. I also had a lime margarita on the rocks and was very well made. Drink prices were very reasonable. Food was a bit on the expensive side, but so worth it. I would return here anytime. Highly satisfied and highly recommend! Definitely a five star restaurant.
(5)Susan C.
This was my first visit to Las Fuentes and was very pleased with EVERYTHING! The chips and fresh salsa were amazingly delicious. Hubby & I both ordered steak tacos and they were so tasty! Loved the accompanying beans and rice too. I had a pina colada which was divine but maybe could have been put in a BIGGER glass.....just my thoughts on that. And, instead of canned sodas, how about putting in a fountain so refills could be had for free? Will return for sure.
(4)Jessica P.
Quick Review: 2 chicken tamale ($12.95): comes with beans & rice...portions are big & food is tasty! Costs: $10-$20... Atmosphere: spacious and great place to watch sports games...many tv's throughout the restaurant...ALSO.. .. you can listen to the sports games in the washrooms as well...(just in case you need to take a longer time in the washroom.. or you don't want to miss a minute of the game, but really need to go).. :) Great place to come with groups.. :) I would come here again if I'm craving Mexican food and want to watch a game..
(4)Karen K.
I was a little skeptical from reading some of the less than 4 star reviews on this restaurant but I actually had a great time here. The restaurant was huge and very clean and there were lots of TVs everywhere which is good for watching los Bulls :) Starter: typical to most mexican restaurants there were chips and salsa. The salsa was very good and spicy and I enjoyed every bite of it Entree: Tamales Verdes de Pollo $12.95 I enjoyed this dish a lot! I have been looking for a good tamale place and I think I shall frequent this place to get my tamale fix. The chicken was very flavorful and very tender. I liked the salsa that covered the tamales. I didn't feel like the salsa was overwhelming like other places have it. The dish comes with rice and beans and the beans were also very flavorful and delicious. The rice was just ok to me I tasted some of my friend's Enchiladas with mole and it was pretty amazing! THeir mole sauce was addicting and I found myself stealing from my friend's dish when she wasn't looking (just kidding.. she totally knew i took some.. right Christine?). My friend commented that most enchilada dishes she's had at other restaurants were greasy but this dish wasn't. Other yelpers have commented on their mole here and I have to agree, it's pretty amazing. Next time I am definitely getting a mole dish. Dessert: mexican fried ice cream The dish was pretty big for ice cream. I've never had fried ice cream the way they had presented it. The fried coating was a little stale and I wasn't sure I really enjoyed it. They drizzled honey on top which at first was little overwhelming but after a couple bites I found myself looking for the light honey taste. Pretty good dish but the stale coating was little bit of a turn off. The staff is very welcoming and our waiter was very nice, The food is on the pricier side when it comes to mexican food but I would come back frequently. The food here is great and I'm so glad I tried this place!
(4)Lisa A.
It was the husband's idea to come here and he doesn't usually like Mexican food, but he was curious since it was once a sports bar and heard they served good food. We came on a Saturday night and I noted whether we sat outdoor or indoor there were plenty of servers and we had great service throughout the meal and prompt refill of our soft drinks! The chips were hardy and crisp and the salsa delicious for starters. I got to try the other dishes around the table and still think my dish was the best dish this dinner: Camarones in Mole Poblano--5 very large Tiger shrimp in mole sauce. I must say this is the second best mole I have had (the 1st being Frontera Grill by Rick Bayless) the Enchilades with mole was very tasty the tamales with salsa verde was okay (I've had better) the Beef Burrito had plenty of meat and cheese and the sides of beans and rice were plentiful. Dessert: Hands down, some of the best flan I have had. Don't order the tres leches cake...the milk could not cover up the dry taste of the cake. I will definitely come back for more of the Shrimp & Flan!

Wonderful little gem in Morton Grove! I would highly recommend this place for anyone. The mango guacamole is delicious along with my veggie tacos, the salsa and chips very tasty. The service is very friendly and the atmosphere just super! You must try this place for yourself!! This is our 2nd time here and it's better than the first. The entire family loves it.
(5)Donna C.
This place is a MAJOR RIP OFF. I ordered a combination plate of a quesadilla, tostada, and mini burrito which came out to 12.95 but when I chose to add steak to it I got charged another 10$. 32 bucks for a plate of average Mexican food??? The portion wasn't even all that great. To make things worse they put in the tip for you.... Left with my wallet lighter and my stomach unpleasantly dissatisfied.

Every visit has been FANTASTIC! Homemade flavors & preparation. Nice surroundings & friendly atmosphere. Please give this your patronage. This location has had so many varieties of restaurants in this space but this one deserves to remain & flourish.
(5)Bina P.
This place has innovative dishes and an extensive menu. The service is great! The servers are accommodating & friendly! The food comes out fast! For a lunch, we asked to be in and out in 30 and we were! And dinner on a Saturday night, was orders made right and quick! Everyone liked their meals. The place has nice decor and is very spacious. This place is not worth passing up if you want authentic Mexican food in a fun atmosphere!
(4)Anna S.
Tasty food ! Top.notched chimichungas and the cecina asada was delicious! Sangria could've been a bit stronger and less onions in the guacamole ! Service was good and attentive.
(4)Eily O.
I was craving Mexican and based on my last experience I decided to stop in. Yipes this will be my last time! We decided to sit at the bar and eat. Oddly there were dirty dishes occupying half of the seats but nobody was there. I assume the people just left no big deal. Mind you there are a handful of people in the entire restaurant because it was later. We order and the seasoned chicken with rice, beans and tortillas after one bite was determined to be taken home for my dog-It was so bad I am not sure if she will eat it. Margaritas where awful a mix poured straight into a glass-entertain me and pretend you are making a legit margarita. Here was the kicker we had to stare at the filthy plates the Entire time we sat there right next to us!! I did mention the place was empty. Also the other end of the bar had 60ish dirty glasses that also were on display. Finally the view straight ahead of us was piled garbage and filthy bar behind the bar. If the bar is this nasty, (see pictures) I am frightened to imagine what the kitchen looks like. The chips and salsa were the only positive thing I could mention. Nasty!!!!
(1)Jenny O.
This place is great!! The food is awesome- the steak tacos are my favorite. Their drinks are delicious!! The hibiscus margarita is unique and full of flavor. I love the outdoor seating area; it's the only place with one nearby!! Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys a great Mexican meal, drink, and environment!
(5)Rachel S.
Really? $4.25 for a single steak taco??? That's just crazy I'm sorry! The staff was friendly and that's the only reason why I feel bad to only give then three stars. The food was good not great. The whole $4.25 for a small little taco just completely changed how I felt about the place. I probably will not be back.
(3)Erica B.
this place is huge. it has a big menu and is never super crowded. service is friendly. their chips and salsa are great, and their margaritas are really great. (im no margarita expert, but i really enjoyed the one i had on both occasions) they have alot of vegetarian options and when i asked for no dairy as well, I was easily accomodated with a plate of enchiladas, rice and beans with a non dairy sauce (the one listed on the menu was creamy); the food was pretty good - and they gave me my own seperate rice and beans that were vegetarian friendly as well. Its nice to have a place in my neighborhood that accomodates three families when they go out with kids, and have vegetarians/vegans in the group as well.
(3)Chris G.
I think the other reviews on here already capture it pretty well, but I wanted to point out two things that need to be mentioned: they are open pretty late compared to comparable restaurants in the area (11:30 on Friday/Saturday), and they have a fairly extensive vegetarian menu. It's not often that I can go out for Mexican and have 7-8 menu options that all sound appealing. The atmosphere is pleasant and the servers were attentive even though we sat down near the end of the evening. Las Fuentes might be a little pricy, but we will definitely be returning.
(4)Corey S.
Good for family or families. Wi Fi is good. Nice tequila brands. & good selection of beers. Salsa is good, not spicy, and with favor. Quick service relatively. Walked inon a Saturday night with 7 people. And thankfully no Meraichi band. Brought kid friendly food. Honors its coupons.
(4)Elaine M.
Las Fuentes now has a kid's menu! Smaller portions of the same great food such as quesadillas, burritos and tacos -served with refried beans and rice. Service is excellent every time we come here. Thanks for listening to your customers. Keep up the good work!
(5)Vesna M.
My family and I absolutely adore this restaurant! We come here to eat at least once a month. The staff is super friendly, and the food is even better. Its not very expensive, they have a lot of variety of food, I always order something different every time we go . The margarita's are wonderful and very tasty! I also love the chips and salsa. Very family friendly!
(5)Stephen B.
RIP OFF ALERT!!!!!! I don't mind paying extra for a 16 ounce margarita when it's actually 16 ounces. It looked small...so I filled my companion's twelve ounce coke can with water to test. Yep. The "16 ounce" glass holds 12 ounces. Even better, both the server and manager shrugged their shoulders when I pointed it out. The food is actually ok, the guacamole bland beyond belief, but the rest was as expected for a Mexican restaurant at this price point. If you don't mind the egregious rip off, not bad. I'm offended at the lie, and even more offended that they didn't do anything when I called them on it.
(1)steven k.
I want to have a birthday lunch here, but when I go on their website to look at the menu all I get is a blank screen for all 5 locations. I've tried using Internet Explorer & Google. What's the secret?
(2)Alex J.
Awful. Need I say more. Check your bill before you pay. We were overcharged for margaritas and staff including management played games trying to double talk and act like they do not understand English. Never again. Bartender was trying to hustle a payment for what wAs not ordered. Manager that appeared to be 18 years old with no people or management skills played dumb. Sorry folks your customers are educated and have brains try the games elsewhere. Save your money, go elsewhere!!!
(1)Andrea Nagle R.
Good food. Reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere. Love the out door seating. Prompt courteous service. My husband got the pork shoulder dish and said it was the most authentic he has had.
(5)Bruce R.
Pretty darn good authentic Mexican food. Walked into the place for the first time and was impressed by the plaza-like feel of the place. The service was friendly and fast. The chips and fresh salsa kept coming while we waited for what turned out to be a great meal. The tamale uchepos appetizer was delicious. The carne asada was outstanding. Tampiquena for one of us churrasco tipico for the other; both steaks cooked perfectly. No room for dessert. I can't wait to get back. For those of you who think this place is too expensive; Taco Bell is right down the street; Buenos Suerte!
(4)t c.
Great food and service. We had 3 kids and we sat in the booth. We ordered sopes appetizer. Very tasty. For entree, we had fried red snapper which was good. Then carne asada was good too. They had a lot of tvs, the place was very lively and well decorated. We will return.
(4)Aj N.
We loved the food 3 reasons Fresh, taste and not too pricy, we needed a good fine dine Mexican joint in Morton Grove so I am glad this place opened up I will definitely come back specially for Nachos and guacamole.
(4)Kal P.
Had lunch great food but shitty service!!! Seriously horrible service.... Felt like they were not Interested in serving.... In one hour of being there for lunch we never got a refill for water!!!!!
(4)Julia M.
This place is AMAZING! Highly recommended! It's about time Morton Grove had an awesome new restaurant that is always slamming. Great margaritas, especially the hibiscus. All of the wait staff and hosts are friendly and take care of you quickly, no matter how busy. I am a regular here and can safely say that these are the best enchiladas around.
(5)Jasin A.
Went last night with my fiancé and enjoyed it. The fajitas were amazing. There chips and salsa we're delicious. The service was ok could've been quicker. I recommend this place if you like Mexican food.
(4)El V.
Excellent food and friendly quick service! Great guacamole, salsas, burritos and tacos. I was very pleased when my fiancé and I went on a pretty busy afternoon and had such an attentive server. I definitely recommend this place!
(5)Julie J.
I cannot in good conscious recommend this place to anyone. The last time I was there I watched a waiter put bar fruit into four glasses with his hands, pour the liquor from the plastic jug into each glass, put glasses on a tray to deliver, walk away, return putting the tray on the bar, then take the fruit from the glasses with his hands placing the pieces on the bar. Then another waiter picked up the fruit from the bar and putting it back into the tray for the bar fruit. Gross! Haven't been able to stomach the thought of returning.

Big restaurant space.former sports bar so lots of tvs. Not too cutesy. It was a nice evening so we sat on the patio. The menu offerings sounded great but what we had was dull: Polo manchateles...grilled chicken breastfeeding sliced with mole and fried plantains. Supposed to have pineapple according to the menu but not sure why they forgot it. It needed a little sweetness. Okay but overpriced at $17.95 it should have been better tasting. My husband had chicken enchiladas w salsa verde Boring. But it was $14.95. Pricy for average food. Upside it has outdoor patio. Downside is food sounds great but is boring lacking flavor andoverpriced

Came here or lunch the other day (12:30pm), and there were only 2 other cars in the parking lot. I soon found out why. Two reasons: 1. This place is EXPENSIVE, and you should see the dinner menu. Wow!. 2. The food here is just plain not good. Strange, made up concoctions that don't resemble any Mexican food I have ever eaten. Chicken enchiladas, tasteless. Vegetable enchiladas had a salsa verde that was actually sweet. Argh! The corn enchilada itself was so soggy, I had to move it to the side. Now, on the other hand, the table salsa is excellent My credentials for this critique. 45 years in San Antonio and Dallas, and several trips to Mexico. This restaurant doesn't even come close to real Mexican food.
(2)Yvonne W.
Came here for the first time today due to my Mexican food craving. I ordered the steak tostada and it was DELICIOUS! Very favorable and a hefty portion for the price. The staff is very friendly friendly and attentive. Chips and salsa are served once seated which was very good...pretty spicy though. Will definitely come here again!
(5)kim s.
By far the best Mexican restaurant in the area! We has to try uncle dans that opened recently in old orchard and it does not come close to this place! Very fair prices and always great service !!!
(5)Quitosky O.
I love Mexican food and always go to Burrito house on Milwaukee and Ballard. I saw this just opened so gave it a try and one word: EXPENSIVE!!! You are paying for them to keep the nice place, not the food. I had the taco dinner - 3 tacos with rice and beans and the bill was $16.95. It is indeed very nice inside because it used to be a nice sports bar, but expensive to dine in and the food was not that great. Taqueria Los Comales on Milwaukee is better and Burrito House is the best when it comes to food around Morton grove and Niles. Well now I know not to go there anymore

Tried this place out for dinner last night and was extremely disappointed. The inside looks really nice but I question the cleanliness of the place and freshness of the food. The waiter came over to us (after a long time of waiting) and had a dirty dish towel in his hands. Gross. They have NO soda and NO beer on tap so I had water and my husband had a can of Diet Coke. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer which came out of the kitchen in roughly 45 seconds. If that is not an indication that it was just sitting in the fridge, I don't know what is. So they sit this huge plate of guac down and leave us with like 3 chips. Really? We had to ask for more which then took awhile to arrive. For dinner, I had the chimichangas with shredded chicken. The bottom of the tortillas were burnt and I really don't know what the difference was between what they served me and what an enchilada would be. The shredded chicken had little to no flavor and the beans and rice were just average. My husband ordered a second Diet Coke to go with dinner and that never showed up. The waiter didn't even ask us how everything was. I wish we could have tipped the guy who kept refilling our waters instead of the actual waiter, because he was a bumbling fool. He tried to give us a coupon for $1.50 off an appetizer for our next visit and I told him there wouldn't be a next time. Long story short, don't try this place. I would rather eat at Taco Bell and save my money.
(1)Bill W.
THE worse dining experience I've had in a long time. Service was atrocious! About two hours after placing our order we found out it had not been started yet. Other's were walking in from outside with the same complaint. Manager walking form table to table addressing unhappy customers. Will NEVER return to this place.
(1)Sidra Z.
Having experienced excellent Mexican elsewhere, this restaurant was a total disappointment for me. I ordered flautas, and they were so undercooked they were mushy. I compared them to Mexican twinkles. The rice portion was super small. I sent the mush back as it was in edible. The owners offered a half sized soup portion, which was a nice offer, but then stated they were charging me half of the price, but actually charged more than half. A full sized portion is $8.95, thus half would be approximately $4.50, but they charged me $4.95. Then the owners acted as though they were doing me a favor removing the uneaten entree from the bill! Won't return!
(1)Caroline A.
Great for families and for friends. Delicious! Be sure to try an entrée off of the specials list. They are exceptionally good. The margaritas are fantastic.
(4)Kay R.
Great authentic Mexican food! We had tamales and a sope sampler to start and then shared the vegetable chimichangas off the vegetarian menu. The only thing better than the food itself was the sauces. We particularly liked the mole and salsa verde. We enjoyed our dinner on their really nice, large, outdoor patio! We will definitely be back here!
(5)Joe M.
Food was fantastic. My husband had steak and shrimp fajitas meat was very tender and flavorful. I had the shrimp tacos, the shrimp had a garlic and lemon flavor which had a pleasant taste with beans and rice. I always enjoy my meal here. Fantastic food with pleasant atmosphere.
(5)Rob P.
Great nachos Aztecas! Like the guacamole and they will use it on their dishes without charging extra! It has the potential to be a great restaurant in the area! Good service and food! Please check it out. Brought the family here the next day and tried the chicken mole. They use chicken tender pieces grilled and placed in mole but the mole is incredible! Very flavorful Oaxacan style mole! The house margueritas were sweet, but tasty. My daughters had tacos and they had a lot of steak in them.

After a day of car shopping, a margarita and some Mexican food was the best part of my day. This place was delicious ... DEE-licious. Don't come here with a calorie counter ... its over for you sweet heart ... enjoy the ride. - Started off with Fuentes Margarita - Just get the house margarita. This one was tasty but it was $9 and there was nothing that distinguishing about it. - Shrimp Quesadillas for App - Not alot of shrimp in this, but we were craving the cheese. The cheese was perfect because we were starving. Dinner was absolutely wonderful. You judge the quality of a Mexican restaurant by their Mole sauce. I ordered : Camarones in Mole Poblano: Black tiger shrimp lightly covered with nut-thickened mole poblano sauce and served with Mexican rice and mixed salad. The Mole wasn't too sweet but really smokey and just perfect and exceeded all expectations. The dish wasn't too heavy but satisfying. I'd love to go back just to eat it again. Keep on rocking Las Fuentes!

HORRIBLE and SAD experience that I had to witness on saturday. I have come to this restaurant a couple times before and my experience there was never bad till november 30th. There was a short guy that usually isn't there with weird hair who I believe He happens to be the owner. He started talking at the bartender and started yelling and screaming at her, to the point were the poor lady was crying behind the bar. He didn't even seem to be sad or like he felt bad at all. What kind of place is this where the owner wants to publicly humiliate his servers. Not only does he look unproffessional , he acts unproffessional. NEVER AGAIN AM I EVER COMING BACK OR RECOMMENDING ANYONE TO GO.
(1)Sylvia M.
LOVE this place! Been here a few times with our 2 year old daughter. The staff is always super friendly and accommodating. The food is awesome and service has always been super quick. Love the enchiladas as a meal and the sangria to drink! My daughter enjoys their chicken fingers (and of course the tortilla chips!). We love going here when we're limited on time because the food always comes out fast and tastes great! Definitely recommend!
(5)Anthony C.
First time eating here. Not very crowded but it was on a weeknight, during a storm, and early in the evening. The remodel is nicely done. The space is large and clean. They also have a nice sized outdoor patio for alfresco dining on a warm summer night. The salsa was very good as was the service. My wife had the steak fajitas which were very good and I had a combo platter of a flauta, enchilada and chili relleno which was also good. The rice and beans were average but everything else was well prepared and tasty. Only negatives were the multiple TV screens throughout the space and no beers on tap which is always a dissapointment. But we'll be back.
(4)Michael S.
Brand new place with new owners! So far so great!
(4)Wiliam S.
I will give the food a C. The bar gets an F. I went there today for lunch. It was deserted. That should have been my first clue. I ordered a margarita and instead of mixing the drink, the bartender reached for a large jug under the bar and poured my drink. I don't know if there was really Triple Sec in the drink. What came through the most was the sour mix. I'm sure there was tequila in the drink, but I could barely taste it. The food was on a par with Taco Bell or maybe not as good. I did not expect a place on a par with a Rick Bayless operation, but this was very ordinary. It was certainly a one time only.
(2)Roma L.
Where do I begin? It was saturday evening and wanted somewhere to eat and watch the game. Came in and first of all the place doesn't have a good flow and we were very confused as to where to wait to get seated. We were standing there and staff were just walking passed us not even asking if we needed anything or even greet us. Maybe 5 minutes til this young lady approached us (she seemed a little dozed off.. wasnt very confident and you can definitely tell she just was a mess) grr.. anyways we were seated.. the seats of the booth were wet so as the table. Hmm.. a guy comes to place utensils, plates and drinking glasses which he basically threw on the table. So then we ordered food and once we placed our order it took maybe 45 minutes? Good thing we werent that hungry anyways. So food came out and food was OK. Nothing really great about it. Don't know if I would come back especially after a really long wait from our experience.

i had been to this restaurant several times with no real complaints except for slow service at the bar. The experience I had last Saturday night was unbelievable. I have worked in the service industry for over 35 years as a server, manager and Restaurant owner. With that being said I can tell you I eat out at least 6 meals a week and have been in over a 1000 restaurants in my lifetime. I have never never had a worse experience with customer service in my life. Let me tell you what happened. As always, we sit at the bar and it takes about 5 minutes for one of the bartenders to acknowledge us. It's about a 20 seat bar with 5 people at the bar, including the two of us. We share a dinner special of two shrimp tacos and 1/2 of a skirt steak. We split everything and halfway through my taco I find a hair wrapped around a piece of shrimp, GROSS!!! I spit it into a napkin and give it to the bartender to show the manager. This is when it gets unbelievable. The manager comes out and apologizes, but has a smirk on his face and is laughing while telling me that no one in the kitchen has light colored hair, in a nice matter I said most likely that because the hair was wrapped around the shrimp a couple of times that it likely came from the purveyor. Again, laughing shaking his head he was insinuating that it was my hair..He tells me that he will discount my meal and leaves. When I get my check I see that he discounted $4 from a $20 dinner. I asked the bartender to get the manager and once again with a smirk on his face and laughing explains that he can't do anything more. We banter back and forth feeling as if I am getting nowhere when I tell him it is going to cost him more in future business than $4 because I am going to tell everyone through social media , the owner and the health department how poorly he handled the situation That's when to my total amazement he tells me that HE IS THE OWNER. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! I will never return to this restaurant only because of the way he handled the situation, and if I were you I wouldn't eat there either, unless you don't mind paying for hair in your food. Worst experience from a manager ever. He definitely doesn't belong in the restaurant industry, He gives all of us in the industry a bad name.

Father's Day Dinner. Carne asada was good. Sope combo was great. Guacamole was good. Margarita's were average. Service was excellent. Really nice to my kids. Relatively busy. Hope it sticks around.
(4)Chris G.
All I can say is very disappointed. For them to display fine Mexican food I was at least expecting homemade salsa. What came tasted like it was straight out of a can. I ordered the steak fajitas, pretty standard, the rice was bland and overcooked. The steak was actually pretty tasty, the problem was finding it amongst all the peppers and onions. Now comes the worst part. The only time I saw the server was when I ordered and paid the bill. The runner/bus boy was more than eager to clear off my table though, without even asking if I was done. I would suggest looking for somewhere else as I've ate at many Mexican restaurants that were much better without the added price of "fine Mexican dining."
(2)Melissa K.
We have been there now twice and the food was great! Service is fast and very friendly. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you order. My husband and finally found a great place to eat in the neighborhood.
(4)Sean K.
I wasn't expecting much from the outside and it didnt look busy but since I had no other place to wait for my car to be fixed a half a block away, I thought I'd just get some chips and a drink. Inside, they actually had a good crowd but it wasnt too loud. The menu had some good choices so I went with the shrimp tacos. The tacos and salsa were very fresh, the chips tasted homemade, came to the table warm, food was hot (right off the stove),not too spicy, and reasonably priced, especially the sides. It's not gourmet and i could do without the colored rice but it was in all good food, very clean restaurant, and very attentive service so I'd definitely recommend and return.
(5)Steve W.
Saturday night last minute decision ... Great choice. Service was very attentive ... Food came out fast ... Definitely above average tasting, especially for this area. I will be coming back. Just need a little more flavor in the carne asada. Still deserves a recommendation.
(5)francisco c.
Went in to order out, so I can support local business. It took the hostess at least 10 minutes to input order due the constant distraction from waiters. Food was very tasteless and quite expensive and I am Mexican. Won't go back... Sorry.
(1)Eric R.
Wasn't to impressed with the food it was pretty blan. The waiter was ok and the bartender was great. The facility was clean and suggest this place for big groups
(3)Jerry B.
Went to Las Fuentes for first time for lunch. Had flautas and vegetable enchiladas. The enchilada has an excellent salad on top. Flautas were very crisp and tasty. Also had an order of fried plantains. Good service and everything was served promptly. Tasteful remodel from Crazy Jaws in same location. Beer list was short, but had all the popular Mexican beers. Booths tables were a little small, so take a table if you're not real big. Hope it is successful as this location has not been good for previous restaurants. Definitely would return especially to use the patio in warmer weather.
(5)Ryan N.
Went here with my family for lunch. Our normal is Lalos in Glenview so we decided to give this place a try since it's closer to our house in Morton Grove. The food was great. My dad doesn't normally like skirt steak, but he and I liked the steak here. It's very tender and full of flavor. Mine came with a garlic sauce but they put it on the side without me asking. It was good, but thankfully it was on the side because it allowed me to enjoy the steak plain which needed no improvement. My dish came with plantains, cheese, rice, leeks, black beans and steak (I can't remember the name but it has Las Fuentes in it) and everything was great either on their own or eaten together. The tortilla chips were so good, freshly made and warm each time they came out. The salsa could use some improvement but was good enough. The margarita was delicious and comes in 12 or 16 oz or can come by the pitcher. Service was great. Prices are more than one would expect but the portions are large so you get what you pay for. Will definitely be stopping by here again.
(5)Valerie O.
Terrible service. Took way to long to get our food and then it was not even warm. Could have been a lot better.
(2)LeeLee S.
Good, fresh, fine mexican food. Not a taco/burrito stand. Between Yolo (restaurant in skokie) and las fuentes these 2 are the best options in the area. I would give 5 stars if it was just a little more inexpensive.
(4)
