We went. Second chances and all. Got seated. Got bread (almost twice) saw no wait staff for 10 minutes. Left. Never again.

30 min to get water. 35 min to get drinks. 45 min to order food. 1 hour salads came out. 1hr 15 refilled 1st drinks. 1hr 30min no tables around us have food or drinks. Worst service I have ever had. Ruined my New Years Eve.

Service is a bit slow when they have a full restaurant. Menu is small - I felt that, for the prices they're asking customers to pay, we should have a wider selection. The food I did order was pretty good, though.

Had the grilled steak sandwich and it was fantastic! The deserts were top notch too. Everyone that worked there seemed to really enjoy being there and the service was great.

We had a group of 6 for dinner, and was glad to have went to Hereford dinner. Everyone said their food was good, I tried their pizza and have to say it was good. You get to choose all the ingredients for your pizza and was glad I picked the pepperjack cheese, made a nice change of pace in pizza eating. The atmosphere was nice and they have entertainment on Saturday night, she was a real good musician/singer. Will come back when in Morris.

Made my order, waitress says, "oh, that's one of my favorites!" She then comes back and brings me the wrong entree, goes back to get mine and THEN informed me they didn't have the stuff to make the entree I ordered, but that I could eat the one she brought me. It was soaked in gravy and had stringy onions all over it. (She informed me it was the brisket, could have fooled me.) So, I respectfully refused, watched the rest of my party eat, and went home to enjoy a bologna sandwich. Super disorganized place.

Going downhill fast !! Wife's martini was terribly weak - exchanged for wine. Waitress brought back 1/4 glass of wine ... She told us the owner was bar tending and apologized. Ordered appetizers - portobello mushroom ap was supposed to come with two mushroom caps instead it came with one cut in half, The crab cake appetizer was very small and average in taste at best, the beef medallions were not in stock, and the shrimp cocktail came 30 minutes after the rest of the appetizers were brought out. The server was good, but Chapin's restaurant has diminished considerably in the quality of their food and drinks. I don't recommend this restaurant.

We went to Chapins on Thursday night for dinner. Nicely decorated and clean and the service was excellent. We each had the Filet Mignon which was delicious and cooked to perfection, the creme brulee was also very good. The cheesy Au Gratin potato and the baked potato weren't good at all and unfortunately they serve frozen vegetable which I really dislike. The Au Gratin seemed like it had been reheated several times and had the consistency of glue, my husbands baked potato was a little too firm to eat more than part of it. Not bad food, but considering only half the meal was edible, a little pricey.

My sister and I stopped in here this past Saturday for appetizers and drinks on a whim, because Gus Macker was cancelled for the day and we were bored. I'm pretty glad our plans didn't pan out, because it lead to us eating at Chapin's! The hostess was very nice, even when I asked if we could sit on the sidewalk because my sister's dog was with us. He's a pit bull, so most people are overly cautious and/or nervous around him, but everyone at Chapin's just acted as though he were any other dog, just normal (because he is). That was refreshing. Our server, Jeremy, was helpful, knowledgeable, quick, and attentive. Even when we cut our meal short to head to the river for a last minute boating adventure, he was friendly. My favorite part about the service? NO ONE, not a soul, treated us differently because we're younger....I'm used to places of this ambiance and quality acting like the younger set is cheap, crappy tippers, and uncultured, so it was SO GREAT to be treated like NORMAL. The food, omg, was fantastic. We had the Oriental Trio & fried portabella appetizers, and both were amazing. We also tried the Melon Melee' and Strawberry Champtinis...great flavors! I would strongly suggest a trip here!

A group of us went to Chapins last night to see Nova Soul perform. We had never been to Chapins because we are not from the area. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu. The steaks and beef are gotten from a local farmer and the steak was fork tender and the taste awesome. My husband had the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. There was a huge crowd there and we were seated immediately because we had a reservation. We went for the music but will be back for the food.

I thought this place was great! Had fantastic service, and the salmon and oven-browned potatoes were outstanding! Will definitely go back.

This review is for their bar and the atmosphere. When I walked in on a weekend night, I was excited to see a band. The lighting was dim and the way the tables were set up made the restaurant look very elegant. I really enjoyed sitting at the big U shaped bar and watching the band. I asked for a martini menu. They had all kinds of martinis and offered to make some not on the menu if I just told them what was in the martini. I decided to just stick with the menu and ordered an appletini -- it was disgusting. It wasn't too much alcohol, it was just bad. I order appeltinis almost everywhere I go, so I feel I am a pretty good judge. Next, I ordered some sort of peach martini. It was also awful. I don't know if it was just the bartender or what, but I wouldn't go back there for disgusting $8.00 drinks... I looked at their menu and my mouth watered, but I was turned off by the high price. I'd probably go somewhere fancier for those prices... Their drinks are a 1 star and their atmosphere is a 5 star. Bottom line: If you are going out for drinks, this MIGHT be a good place to go because of the live entertainment. However, stick to beers and other pre-prepared beverages!

My husband and I moved to the area after living in Chicago, and have been on the hunt for good places to eat, entertain guests and people for business. I have now been there twice once for lunch and once for dinner, service was friendly, but super slow on a Monday (like we were about to leave slow) and the food was meh for dinner. The veggies, green beans, were mushy and brown-green. The duck appetizer was like rubber and the ratio of sauce to meat was bad. I had their ribs, which were rather fatty and flavorless save for the sauce, and my husband's ribeye was okay, but not great. The coffee was weak. I had their version of buffalo wings for lunch, and they were really good, meaty, crisp and well seasoned, with a lovely salad. My lunch companion enjoyed her trio of sliders. I had eaten lunch first, and I had hoped dinner would have been outstanding, but it was really fell short. Honestly, I was slightly embarrassed that I spoke of it so highly to my husband, I think he viewed it as a waste of money.

Well, the service has sped up the last few times we've visited Chapin's so I'm ready to up them to 4 stars. Everything else from my previous review stands - the food is darn good & they have a decent selection plus specials not on the menu regularly. It's good to have another nicer option for dining out in the area since The Rockwell Inn closed some time ago. The Pot Roast Sandwich is my favorite but everything we've tried there has been delicious. And both the Seafood Bisque & their baked French Onion Soup are amazing. I also like that with the sandwiches you have your choice of a side rather than having to go with fries (though their fries are good).
