This is the best sushi buffet I've ever experienced thus far in Iowa. I'm sure there are better sushi buffets out there, but the value of this one is hard to beat; I had lunch on Saturday for $9.25 including tax. I first experienced the buffet here on a road trip around 2 years ago, and I have been wanting to eat here again ever since. I've been here twice, and I would go more often if I didn't live ~1 hour away. Bottom line, this place has good sushi (for Iowa) at a great price. Sushi: The selection is very large. Whether you like basic rolls, fancy rolls, more Americanized rolls, or sashimi, there's something for everyone. The taste and quality is also above average for buffets. Most buffets with sushi is just not good, but this place has good sushi. Not amazing or the best sushi I've ever had, but quality is great for the price. Buffet food: This looked like the typical Chinese buffet food. Lo mein, sesame chicken, rice, soup... I usually just get sushi here, so I'm not sure how this compares. There is also a salad bar. Mongolian grill: I'm not sure if this is available at all times, but here is also a Mongolian grill here. I don't think I've tried it before, but it is here. Ice cream: The ice cream is behind class, and scooped by an employee. This means you don't have to worry about little kids getting their dirty hands in the ice cream buckets. Other desserts: There is the usual melon, small pastries, etc. And also fresh strawberries and pineapple! Which are more expensive than the usual melons or cut bananas covered with red sauce at typical buffets. Decor: Typical Asian buffet place. Fairly clean though. Birthdays: If you tell a server it's your birthday, the restaurant will get dim, and a very entertaining/embarrassing birthday song/rap plays. Someone also plays a small drum.

Good sushi selection, one of the best Ive seen in Iowa. You won't be displeased I promise

Traveling through town and stopped because the sign says "Kids eat Free". Best Stop on the trip!! The Sushi was as good as any sushi restaurant I've had. The rest of the bar was fresh. Kids had plenty of choices as well. Wife loved the crab legs. The staff was fun and attentive. Pricing was appropriate. Overall, a great experienced. Wish this location was in my hometown.!

Highly disappointed! 7pm on a Thursday. A lot of food had sat for so long it was crusty. Crab legs looked dirty and the butter to go with it was just disgusting! I could not even try them. The egg drop soup had something green and moldy looking in it. Some of the sushi tasted a little off. Have been here many times and noticed lunch or the busy weekends food is good. Other times........ Bit tonight was the worst!

Love coming here. They have tons of food to choose from and huge sushi bar . Yummy. Will be back again

Greatest deal ever! Not top quality sushi by any means but still very good for the money. Usually 1 plate of nigiri out at all times, and a whole bar of nigiri and sashimi on Sundays and for dinner, making the extra cost (9.25 for lunch and about 10 or so more for dinner and Sunday) worth it unless you're just looking for rolls.

This is the best Chinese/Japanese buffet I've been to in Iowa. I may have had better food (which is why I didn't give it 5 stars), but if we are comparing to the rest of the food I've tasted in Iowa and the price, I would give it 5 stars. FOOD: 7/10 I just visited this place for a Sunday night dinner. For dinner, they have the buffet style Chinese food (which they have for lunch), a wide variety of sushi (which they also have during lunch), all you can eat sashimi, warm crab legs, and a grill which you can ask for steak, pork chops, fish, calamari, and shrimp (those are the only ones I've tried at least). I'm not quite sure if all these are offered for lunch, but I do believe I've had a pork chop during lunch time before. The food in the Chinese buffet section is very good and they have a wide variety of things to choose from, but my favorite here is the sushi and sashimi. The quality of the sushi is comparable to a good sushi buffet. It's not the best sushi I've ever had, but definitely better than any sushi I've had at a Chinese buffet. My most favorite is the all you eat sashimi. I haven't had this too much at other buffets. The sashimi tastes fresh, they let you take as many as you want, and they replenish the buffet line quickly for this. You should definitely try their steaks and pork chops on the grill as well. Usually my favorite is the pork chop, which is seasoned just right and has a great texture, but once in a while, we get ones that have less taste or are too chewy. I guess it's a hit or miss thing for this part of the restaurant depending on who is cooking it, so that's another reason I'm not giving it the full 5 stars. For the grill, they ask you to come back in 5 minutes to pick up your order. I've been to other restaurants that bring it out to you when it's done (you leave your table number with them). I think this could make the experience better since sometimes I didn't know how long to wait, and by the time I go back, my dish isn't hot anymore. PRICE: 10/10 The amount of sushi at this restaurant tells me that it's a Japanese buffet, but the price is as cheap as a Chinese buffet. For $13.99 per person on a Sunday night, this is probably the cheapest Japanese buffet I've ever been to. Especially on a weekend night. It's definitely worth the price. I think Saturdays may be a different price, but I'm not sure how much. The quality of the food is definitely worth more than $13.99, so it's a great steal. CUSTOMER SERVICE: 10/10 Our waitress was very friendly, talked to us a bit, and made sure our water was always filled. She even brought steak knives to us when she saw that we ordered steak from the grill, without us even asking for it. The same happened when she saw us eating crab legs. She brought over an extra plate with an extra crab leg cracker for us without us having to ask. As we were exiting the restaurant, we saw another worker run after another family that had just left. It seemed as though he was giving something to them that they left at the restaurant, and when he handed it to them, he said that there's probably a lot of money in it. With a sigh of relief, they thanked him and he ran back in. It definitely gave me a better feeling about the honesty of the workers and how they do the best to serve their customers. ATMOSPHERE: 8/10 The interior design of the restaurant looks like an upscale Chinese buffet. It's fancier than most other Chinese buffets, with two stone lion heads at the entrance outside the building, a beautiful fountain (that has colored lights, smoke effects) right at the entrance, and elegant and sophisticated, comfortable furniture inside. The only thing that takes away from the atmosphere is the number of birthdays that are celebrated here. When it's someones birthday, the lights turn off, the disco lights start, and on the loudspeaker, an upbeat 'happy birthday' song gets played. A few workers come by the table, beating a small drum and sing happy birthday to you. It's pretty nice (especially with a good drummer... we've had off-beat ones before) and makes you feel special, but sometimes since so many people celebrate birthdays there, 1) it's not a surprise anymore since there may have been 2 birthdays before they came to celebrate yours at your table and 2) it gets a little annoying to have the lights turn off and disco lights come on 3 or 4 times during your meal. This doesn't always happen, but it's happened a few times we were there. I would definitely come back here (and have been quite a few times already), even though I live over an hour away. We always leave here stuffed and satisfied.

I stopped in before my return flight home to Huntsville, Alabama. The food was very good and so was the service. In some buffet style restaurants I tend to notice that the fid is either cold or Luke warm, but that was not the case with this one.

I've been to this buffet many times. I love the sushi bar. It is a great value and a great variety. Last time I went though, I was sick for a week. Literally - a week. It was bad enough that I had to go to the doctor. I have no hard evidence that it was Osaka that did it, but after a large lunch on Friday, I felt sick on Friday night. Saturday and Sunday I was miserable. I wasn't back to normal until the next Saturday. I hate to disparage a place without reason, because I've been several times with no problem. It will be very difficult for me to go back.

Osaka Buffet has so many choices for sushi, it is phenomenal for the price you pay to eat here. They even have sashimi! The fish is really fresh and delicious, unlike other buffets that have poor, sketchy sushi. Their regular buffet items are good too but not something to hype about. I usually come here to eat tons of sushi and finish off with their fruits and dessert. I never leave this place disappointed. I wish I could come back if it weren't for it being so far from where I live. I would come here on my way to or back from Augustana College.
(5)Holly N.
Great sushi for an amazing deal. All you can eat option when there are other places that charge for one roll what you pay here. I try to go once a week! Highly recommended for the Quad Cities area.

I live far away from the Osaka Buffet but try to visit every time I am in the area. For a buffet, which I have experienced all over the U.S. and overseas, this one does it the best. Best service, best food. Once I was at the Osaka Buffet with a traveling companion who happened to be a Japanese citizen and he gave the sushi his seal of approval. Not much else to say. It is hard to do a wide variety of food and do a good job. Again, well done. Hope to get back before to long.

Excellent fresh sushi. Great buffet. Friendly staff, reasonably priced. Great place to eat.
(4)Bruce D.
It's simple. Being mediocre doesn't make good food. You don't lower the bar when you open a new restaurant. Bland and boring, that appeals to grandma and kids, is just a bad representation of the Quad City area. Cheaper grades of fish. Low quality beef and chicken. Tons of sugar and salt to cover the lack of creativity. My mother could make anything taste amazing with spices and love. McSushi is the story at this place. If your just worried about getting stuffed with anything, stop on in. If you want amazing, go somewhere else.
(3)Greg R.
Love the sushi buffet. Huge selection. Quality seafood for the QC. Good price considering the boat loads of sashimi I can consume. Very quick service. Clean for an Asian Buffet.
(4)Jody C.
Love love love this place. HONEY CHICKEN is great. :) huge selection and kids love it also.
(4)Mike H.
I didn't know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. In a building that used to be a run down old country buffet I was fearing the worst but the inside now looks great. Awesome buffet and a lot of sushi options.
(4)Stephanie Y.
I was pleasantly surprised. My expectations were quite low, being that it was a buffet and all. I found the Chinese food to be of good quality. The veggies were all crisp and the sauces were flavorful, but not overly sweet. I did not try the sushi - my guess is it's on par with what you'd get at a supermarket, if you are expecting a sushi master at this venue I think you need to look elsewhere, after all it is a buffet. Do yourself a favor though - skip the desserts. Yeah I know, but I'm a creature of habit, I want to finish my meal w/ something sweet so I got some sort of cut up, still frozen cheesecake. Not good at all.

Came here twice during the week I was back visiting family. This had the best sushi I have encountered in the Quad Cities...very fresh and the regular buffet food was good too...definitely recommend the Osaka Roll, Mongolian Beef, Coconut Shrimp, and Crab Rangoons. I would definitely recommend this place. Sunday lunch was $14.99...Weekday dinner was $17.99 (I think). VERY appropriately priced!
(5)Stephanie S.
Food is good, great variety, they rotate food types often BUT our waitress made a small mistake and charged us for lunch not dinner. The manager was going to make her pay the difference and told us not to tip her. I will not come back to a restaurant that treats their employes like that.
(2)David K.
Great food, young wait staff but everything was great. The food is wonderful and the selection was tremendous. Food ranged from Osaka beef, crab legs, clams, muscles, shrimp, plenty of desserts and hand dipped ice cream. Best yet they dip the ice cream so you don't have to worry about how many kids have had there hands in it!
(5)Joshua W.
I was thinking a sushi buffet was going to have only California rolls and a few other things but I was surprised by the selection they had here. It was my first time at an Osaka but definitely not my last! PS..I don't know why there are disco balls and club lights in the place...???
(4)Justin J.
They may give you a dinner AND a show but unless Osaka translates to "overpriced crap on a plate" than I would recommend going elsewhere and asking your waiter there to do a backflip for you. At Osaka, you are seated with complete strangers at a hibachi grill, you enjoy a 5 min show, and you act like you are enjoying a $50 bite of undercooked dinner. NOT A GOOD TIME !!!
(1)Melissa Z.
BEST Asian buffet in Iowa. hands down. I went for dinner tonight and they had UNI (sea urchin) as well as a chef shucking fresh oysters! That was just an extra bonus to the 30-40ft long sushi bar, fresh dim sum, hibachi grill, and fresh Chinese food. $13.99 for dinner. I love this place! My very chinese parents have been frequenting this place at least 2x a week since it opened. GO.

The best Japanese Buffet I've ever seen in Midwest rural area (Obviously, Chicago does have better ones). It has abundant seating and food. I like the Sashimi and fish eggs (It really surprises me that most people there don't touch them), which most of the Japanese buffet restaurant in Iowa don't have. It's really amazing that I can find a restaurant like this in such a small town like Quad Cities. I'll definitely go there again at some point.

I crave sushi... it is an expensive craving to have. I also had problems with buffets in my youth. The problem when you crave sushi is that you get to try different types and qualities of sushi. Going to an authentic sushi restaurant is different then going to an all you can eat buffet. So, I have been here twice and the service is actually quite nice. I usually stay away from buffet, because I seem to have a lack of self control and usually leave having difficulty breathing which is really bad... so, here's my review: Food = 7/10 there are several sections and I only can comment on the hot item buffet section and the sushi section (I think there is a possible tapenyaki (big griddle area) where they cook food for you and an ice cream area). The hot item buffet area has a lot of buffet style Chinese food on it, with occasional pizza and wings thrown in (I think for the kids). Most of the items are seen at other Chinese buffets. The sushi is not bad, but the quality of the sushi is ok. They have a variety of different rolls (no hand rolls or Nagiri sushi). Price = 9/10 usually go during lunch time so I usually spend around $10 with a drink. Which is not bad. Service = 10/10 Service here is great. I was eating a rib and forgot a napkin. The waitress brought me a napkin without me even asking. Also, they seem to be pretty up to speed when clearing out dirty plates and refilling water. Setting = 8/10 looks like a Chinese buffet with a sushi area... Overall I really am trying to stay away from buffet. I have that horrible syndrome where my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I also feel like poop when I eat too much. The food is decent and if yo go for lunch it is worth it (don't really know what the price is for dinner). I would say the quality of sushi is definitely better then supermarket sushi (might be a battle with Wegmans (in buffalo) sushi), but the variety is limited to rolls only. As for the hot buffet item... it's not bad, it's just not that new...

Very nice selection. Sushi variety was amazing. Will return and bring a bigger appetite. Seemed like a good value to me.

I was here when they first opened and didn't care for it much then, but went back recently and they've improved. There's a nice selection of food and sushi, and unlike many places, the food is consistently hot. My only problem with this place is that it's called Osaka buffet, clearly a place in Japan, so I expected mostly/all Japanese food and found just another Chinese buffet with some sushi and hibachi.

I made a trip back home to the Quad Cities 2 weeks ago for my mother's 70th birthday celebration at Osaka. We had the private dining room and the manager & staff were more than accomodating with our group of 25+ guests. Being in the F&B industry in Las Vegas, I was totally blown away by Osaka's food offerings and that they actually had staff making fresh sushi rolls & sashimi right there in 'lil Moline, IL. (Not the pre-bought bento box product that I had expected for the price.) The service was attentive and appreciated that they even did their birthday "beat the drum" and song complete with a disco ball! LOL! No wonder my Mom raves about this place and it will be on my agenda for future trips home. Thanks to the Osaka Buffet team for adding something special to my Mom's momentous occasion.

I'm reviewing again because I finally went for the dinner service. I expected more and wasn't disappointed. Crab legs on the buffet, a heartier selection, and sashimi made the difference worth the extra cost.
(5)Trav S.
The only reason I'm giving this 5 stars is because I was blown away by the quality and selection of sushi for the $7.99 lunch buffet. The selection includes both regular and special rolls. Then to top it off you have an entire Chinese food buffet to choose from and a hibachi grill. What?!?! Crazy good deal. Makes me wonder what the catch is. In comparison, I pay $18 for a sushi buffet in Chicago. Service and decor were good too. Only complaint: some of the Chinese food was a little cold. But oh well, not a huge deal.
(5)Vanessa R.
Whenever im in town i'm stopping here... there is a great selection of rolls and the hibachi grill is included in the all you can eat fee. There is something for everyone. Lunch time is the best time to go, you get more for your money.
(4)Pam H.
Wow, a huge variety of rolls, a hot table with various dishes, kani salad, seaweed salad. They also have a hibachi grill and ice cream near the back. I've seen crawfish and crab also. Everything you want is here.
(4)John B.
All you can eat sushi, rolls, hibachi entrees, huge variety of other Japanese and Chinese food for a low price. This is now my son and mine's favorite place to eat.
(5)Kristin S.
I've like sushi since before it was cool. And the Osaka Buffet offers exceptional selection at a more than fair price. My boyfriend and I decided to try out the buffet shortly after it opened a year or two ago. We had had a very nice sushi dinner at the original Osaka Steak House and thought the buffet might provide the same quality food for a price that would be affordable, unlike our steakhouse sushi dinner which cost about $60 for two of us (I have a very nice bf)! We tried it out and wow! The sushi was fantastic, fresh and ample. Not only was the sushi great, but the rest of the buffet offered dozens of fresh, hot favorites and numberous cold ones too. There is something here for everyone, even picky kids who just want pizza and 'American' food. It is the perfect place to try sushi for the first time or have quality sushi for the sushi lover. My bf and I go back again and again and we recomend it to anyone who will listen! About $10 for lunch and $15 for dinner and all day Sunday.
