Me and my wife went there Friday 9pm The miso soup was served to us cold! Told the Waiter and it took about 10 min to get it warmed up , the sushi was terrible and would recommend it to my worse enemy

Where to start. The waitress was just cute but lacked social and customer service skills. After we ordered our appetizers, she must have walked passed us a dozen times before we had to get her attention to place our order. (Btw, flannels jackets are not cute for a hostess) I had asked her about a particular Maki roll and instead of showing me on MY menu, she was showing my gf on hers. She really lacked eye contact with me every time I would ask her a question, bad customer service. When she refilled our water, instead of putting the glass in the general area she got it from, she would place it on the other side of the table. Do I look like stretch Armstrong? The food was subpar, though the presentation was nice but I rather my food have quality. The tempura was greasy and heavy, the Maki rolls were mediocre and lacked freshness and were not made the way I had ordered them. The waitress, who reminds me of someone I've seen on the Internet before, did not bother to tell me that it would be extra for a tablespoon of tempura flakes and spicy mayo, I got the minor surprise when I got the check. The only decent thing about the food were the spring rolls and the price (2 star worthy). If it wasn't for the great company of my gf, the entire visit would have been a bust! Tempura suppose to be lite and flaky, not riddled with grease and batter. I guess you never know until you try and this place I will never try again

I have never had a bad piece of sushi or sashimi at Zuki. They have many very creative specialty rolls and we usually order about ten of them between the two couples. We will usually have a large hot saki that we all share and their house hot saki is very pleasant. I would give this restaurant a perfect 5 stars but the service is usually slow and there is almost always a language barrier. Sushi (A) Seaweed Salad (A+++) Miso Soup (A) Ginger Salad Dressing (B) very runny. I need a sushi fix at least once a month and this is my go to!

Had the Kobe beef roll it was good except for the slight propane flavor from using a torch. Same comment for the Toro. I have been there previously for sashimi, sushi, hibachi and have enjoyed the meal. Presentation was nice as always but I don't care how it looks, I do care how it tastes. I will have to ask them next time not to torch my food.

I've been to most of the Hibachi places in the suburbs and I have to say this was the most under seasoned food that I've tasted. The staff was super friendly, we didn't have to wait at all when we walked in. The soup came out piping hot, the salad came out ice cold as it should be, but everything either had no real flavor or was really under seasoned. I ordered the steak and shrimp as did my wife. All of my kids ordered the steak. All of us were thinking the same thing when we started eating, where's the flavor? The place looks nice, staff is really friendly, but they lack the flavor that other Japanese houses bring (Tokoyo Steak House, Hamada, etc.). I might go back to try the sushi next time.

My first time here was a pleasant experience. Having sushi is a new treat for me. I enjoyed our choices and will return to expand my taste for sushi dishes. Food was good and venue was clean. The attention from the server left something to be desired, however I will return again.

I've had hibachi here about 2 yeara ago, it was fairly good. Fun chef, the food was good, good portions, can't complain. Around that same time I had sushi there as well which was good not great, rolls were pretty huge and americanized but still good. Zuki has never compared to some of the sushi places that can be found in the city, which have similar prices and are no more expensive. After hearing about their mon-tues half price sushi deal I decided to go back recently. Once in April I had their sushi and it was OK, nothing wrong though nothing that amazing, but the next day I was horribly sick. A month later I was convinced once more to try it again with a friend who said it was fine. After leaving zuki to grab a drink at a bar I became very ill at the bar. Still I did not learn my lesson, a month late I risked it again and after that never again. 3rd time is a charm. I'm not sure if the stuff they serve on the half price night is old or what, but I have become very ill from it. Twice dining in and one time doing take out. I eat sushi about once a week mostly at a few places in the city and have never become ill from any other sushi restaurant, only full. I would consider going there for Hibachi again...maybe, but certainly not sushi. I only ever ordered rolls from Zuki as I thought sashimi/nigiri seemed to risky. I will wait until I go to the city to satisfy any sushi craving rather than risk getting ill.

Fantastic sushi, sashimi and tepanyaki in the suburbs. Service can be uneven but the food has always been good.

Ive been here about 4 times. I've only done the sushi side of the restaurant, and the quality of the food is really good. I have a thing for the seaweed salad and plain "house clear soup". Although this last time soup seemed a little heavy on the salt. Sushi is always great. I like to pair is with their house saki, warm of course. The atmosphere is pretty good considering it's in a strip mall. Great decoration. Service is always super friendly, but can be a little inconsistent. Never anything bad though. The hibachi section is separated well from the dining area so there are no distractions. I'm interested to try the hibachi, the chefs looked like they were doing a great job. I don't think you could possibly get better sushi without going in the city- a real south side gem.

DO NOT GET THE TOFU STEAK UNLESS YOU LIKE BLAND, UNFLAVORFUL TOFU! Other than that disaster, everything was A-OK! ;) We also had the shrimp and avocado to start. It was minimal but delicious. Whatever that sauce was it was awesome!! The house salad was good. I put it to the side when my main entree came, and the server guy took it and ran with it---I was not done with it! :( I didn't want to yell for him to come back, but I was a bit disappointed that that happened. He didn't even ask if I was done with it. Ehhh. I ordered the shrimp and salmon teppanyaki combo dinner which also came with (from what I remember) soup, salad, your choice of white or fried rice, noodles, vegetables, and ice cream. The shrimp and salmon were fantastic...I loved the marinade. The house soup was a-ok...it didn't seem fresh. I ordered white rice, but they gave me fried rice. I didn't fuss about it. I was content with the fried rice--it wasn't too salty or oily, but it still had great flavor! Their steamed vegetables were great with the noodles. Aaaand for dessert, they offered vanilla or chocolate ice cream. We checked in with our phones on Yelp and got a free appetizer (the dreadful tofu). What really surprised me was the fact that our waitress took my boyfriend's iPhone and walked away with it to show her boss the coupon offer. I thought that was very unprofessional. I am aware that there are some businesses that do not allow their servers or workers to touch the customer's phone yet this waitress took his iPhone and walked away with it. LOL. Luckily we were able to keep an eye on her from where we were sitting. I mean I wouldn't care that much if it was some cheap phone, but it wasn't. It was an iPhone 4/our GPS system/calculator/camera/handheld computer/life. Cons: Tofu sucked. The busboy didn't ask us if we're done with our food before taking it away. Our waitress didn't write down whether I ordered white rice or fried rice and came out with the wrong order. Our waitress took our phone and walked away with it. They included the tip in our bill. [I hate it when restaurants do that! My boyfriend is a very generous tipper lol. This restaurant/waitress could have gotten more tip than what they asked for, but we just hate it when they include tip so we paid them whatever they asked for. I feel like restaurants that do that are CHEAP.] Pros: Most of the food was good. Their light fixtures were nice and creative. There's a hibachi section and a sushi bar.

I was delighted when Zuki opened because I finally had an option for sushi in the area where I work. I've never actually eaten at Zuki, but my coworkers and I enjoy getting takeout sushi and eating it at the office. They have two great sushi lunch specials: two rolls (from a select list) and soup or salad for $8 or three rolls and soup or salad for $12. I usually get the shrimp tempura, vegetable and avocado rolls and have never been disappointed. The vegetables are nice and fresh. I wish they would have someone who speaks better English working the phones when I call to place an order, but I guess I should just chalk that up to the place being authentically Japanese. They're also kind of stingy with the soy sauce packets, but will throw in more if asked.

  • Kelsey H.

I really like Zuki. I've always sat at a table and ordered sushi (which is very good), miso soup, tempera, etc. and have never tried the hibachi. The place always fills up though and the staff is friendly and attentive. I guess weekdays is half-off sushi?? I didn't see this advertised anywhere but we got our bill for 3 rolls, a soup, a salad and two drinks for under $20! I probably would have ordered their specialty rolls had I known they'd be so cheap! ;) I'd definitely recommend coming here for your sushi fix! There's always families with small children, so that's always good to know.

My husband and I went here for the first time on Saturday (Valentine's Day). I made a reservation and we were seated within 10 minutes of the time, which was great considering it was very crowded. They had a really great $5 cherry mojito drink special. Once we were seated (we did hibachi) the server came over almost immediately to take our drink order. We received our drinks quickly and then he took our food order. Our chef was amazing. Funny, friendly, he did a great job. The food was fantastic -- my husband had the filet mignon and I had the chicken and steak. The steak was cook perfectly and everything was great. The service was excellent. We will definitely be going here again!

  • Mary S.

The sushi tasted very good, but I will not be coming back because of the extremely rude service at the front desk. I got some half price rolls for the weekday special, and when I thought they had forgotten part of my order and kindly asked the lady to double check, she got so angry that you'd think I had killed her firstborn child or something. I literally have never been treated that badly and been made to feel like an idiot in a place of business. You'd think they'd want new customers who spend a decent amount of money to come back, but I guess not. They definitely skimp as much as they can get away with on the half price rolls, although they tasted good. Not impressed.

I came to Frankfort for a mini vacation with the boyfriend, and we were craving for something Asian for dinner tonight. The hotel we stayed at recommended Zuki, so we looked them up on Yelp. All the pictures of the food looked great so we gave it a shot. We were hoping to order delivery, but they didn't offer that option, so we got takeout instead. I'm kind of glad we had to go pick it up or I wouldn't have been able to see how pretty the restaurant was. It's not too big, but not cramped either. There is a side for sushi, and a separate room for the hibachi grill/show. I ordered a steak and shrimp hibachi combo, 2 sushi rolls, and an order of crab rangoon. My steak was cooked well-done when I asked for medium rare, and the hibachis was a little bit oily - but that's what hibachi is like - and it was delicious! The sushi was good, but the crab rangoon I did not enjoy too much. Overall, I think this place is great, and I'm hoping to dine in the restaurant next time!

This was our second visit to Zuki and everything was fantastic! My wife and kids were pleased with their selections, as was I. My steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare and the cook, of course, served also as an entertainer. We were seated next to a very nice couple: Greg & Vicky, and had a great conversation. We left with a bag full of leftovers, I'm good with that.

Went back for lunch after the manager assured me their fish and fresh and they follow the strictest sanitation procedures it was good. I would provably return back for half price rolls or for a lunch again.

I really like this place and have eaten here quite a bit. I almost always get sushi, which I find to be excellent.

  • Justin C.

Sushi was good and I'd go back for that. Service was fairly bad and they should really focus on that. So much takeout went by we waited 25 minutes for rolls? And our waiter forgot our appetizers and was going to bring them after our meal? Really? Apologize and say you forgot. Not a big deal, it happens. We'll go back and try again since the food we did get was good and reasonably priced. Hopefully it was just an off night. I'll update after the next time.

This place was pretty good when they first opened, but has really gone downhill the last couple of times we have been here. Sushi is not fresh and the quality of the hibachi food is worse. They won't get many return customers and may not last long now. Sapporo deja vu?

Tasteless food. Not worth parking the car I'd take a pass! There so many better Tepan Cooking places, so disappointed.

  • Ma P.

This used to be my favorite place in the area to get sushi. However, within the last few months this place has seriously gone downhill. The sushi never taste fresh and leaves you feeling sick. I would rather go to woow than attempt this place again.

  • Rachel B.

Fun! Come hungry, the portions are completely out of control huge. I always take my 12 year old cousin who orders the kid's portion and still...never finishes it! Major, major portions. Love the calamari teppankyaki. Cute small town restaurant. Try it!

  • Amanda C.

Horrible service, food was even worse. Ordered drinks that were not even drinkable, just burned your throat on the way down. Couldn't get a refill or order another drink as our waitress ignored us. Bento box came with desert that we didn't get. Food was tasteless, sushi was comparable to a grocery store. I will wait the 1.5 hours for Tribes next time. Not worth my aggravation.

Pretty good sushi and habachi. It does not do anything different then the other Japanese steakhouses but if are flexible on your days they have half price sushi on Monday and Tuesday and half price habachi on Wednesday. Hard to beat a full habachi dinner for like 10-15 bucks since you will end up taking home another whole meal. Overall, a good clean place.

  • Arun J.

Hibachi is pretty standard fare, nothing special. Sushi is subpar, would not recommend it for that part of the menu.

I have been to numerous Japanese Hibachi grill restaurants and Zuki is probably one of the cleanest and nicest ones I have been too. The "show" was the same that I have seen a dozen other times, but still entertaining to watch as they prepare your food. The service here was Very slow, so don't come here if you are pressed for time. The food itself was very good, but I feel that the portion sizes were smaller than what I am used to at Hibachi grills. I guess this was a good thing to help me from stuffing my face; but I normally like having leftovers as a second meal. Over-all Zuki was a very good, the quality of the food was good and the place itself was very nice. I would definitely come back.

Delicious! Very clean, and beautiful environment. The sushi is amazing, and very fresh. Spicy tuna rocks! Also the lunch bento box which includes, salad, sushi, hibachi & rice is worth 13$. Very good food.

The sushi was good, the hibachi was really good. We came for my daughter's birthday and the kids loved the show. They want to come back again for their bdays.

I love sushi and the boyfriend does not. He will, however, eat steak (if someone twists his arm). So for my birthday, he took me to Zuki. Our server was delightful. I like how they have sheets for the sushi (so many places don't) so you can circle and number exactly what you want. The boyfriend went in earlier that day to bring a birthday cake as a surprise for me. At the end of our meal, when our server asked if we wanted dessert, she said, "oh, yes, you brought your own." We thought it was adorable, but I can see how some people might be ticked that she wrecked the surprise. They came out with the cake and put candles on it and sang to me, which was sweet. They started us off with a small bowl of complimentary edamame. It was tasty, and luckily for me the boyfriend doesn't like it. This made my drink order easy-- although they have some interesting looking specialty cocktails, I ordered a Kirin because I love beer with edamame. I loved the sushi. I always judge a place by its spicy tuna roll. Sometimes it's grainy (yuck) or spicy for the sake of spicy to the point that you can't taste the tuna. Theirs is nice; it had a bite right there at the end, and it has cucumber, which I've never experienced in a spicy tuna roll and it gave the roll a nice crunch. I also had some yellowtail sushi (it's like butter) and the rainbow roll. The rainbow roll pieces aren't enormous like some places, which made it easier to eat. And it was all very good. The reason they lost a star is simply timing. The boyfriend ordered the chicken tempura appetizer and the filet, I ordered sushi. So his soup came first (good), then his salad (good), then his entree, then the appetizer, then my sushi. I ate the vegetables that came with the tempura (one each of broccoli, sweet potato, zucchini) which was very good, so I didn't mind waiting for my sushi. I had been having a stressful day ($1200 to fix my car, which still isn't quite right), so I was determined not to let anything bug me. If you're the kind of person who gets bent out of shape over timing, I would order your appetizer far ahead of our entree (we ordered ours at the same time). But definitely give this place a chance. I'll be back.

As soon as I walked in there was no mistaking that I was in a restaurant that served fish. We sat at the sushi bar and it took a while to get over the smell! I checked in to Yelp and got a free shrimp tempura. The shrimp were large, but after eating them as well as the vegetables. All that I could taste was grease. We ordered the special lobster nauto, It was served in a martini glass with a flashing plastic ice cube and a ladder made out of a cucumber skin. Nice theatrics, but I would rather they get rid of the fish smell and concentrate on the food. The amazing roll, dragon roll, fire dragon roll and tuna roll. They were very good, but as we were eating they sushi guy kept telling anyone that would listen that they had the best sushi in town! Um! Not even in Mokena dude! Now that I am writing this review I see that they charged us for 2 amazing rolls. (I took the itemized list that they had stapled to their receipt) They separated them so I wouldn't see the 2 next to it. I knew they were bent that we got the free appetizer!! Last time I darken your doorstep Zuki!!

The wife and I came here for dinner one night, and I'm glad we decided on this instead of pizza! We sat at the hibachi area next to a pretty decent group of people. The prices were in line with any other Japanese steakhouse. The quality and the hibachi show were great. There were complimentary noodles and rice with the order, which were very good. I had the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly. They make some really good drinks which are also priced about the same as other Japanese steakhouses. I think I would give the place five stars if the drink service was faster. You pretty much have to order your next drink when the first one arrives. I'll definitely be back and want to try the sushi next time.

Very good sushi, fantastic price (especially when the are running half off sushi specials), never have to wait to get seated. Was very happy to find sushi that I can get to on my lunch break!

My wife, oldest son, youngest daughter and I all just finished some car shopping, which means we definitely deserve a lunch out. My son and daughter have never been to Zuki before so this will be a nice treat. We start by ordering a Almond Shrimp for $7 dollars. Four large shrimp on Asparagus branches. They were very good, but expensive for just four. Next we ordered the Spring Rolls for $4 dollars. Again they were very good, but only four small rolls for $4 dollars. Now onto our main courses, we all ordered the Steak and Shrimp with Fried Rice dish. I upgraded mine to have Fillet Mignon instead of the standard steak. The addition was $3 dollars more. The regular price was $17 dollars. And in trying my wife's steak I think I could have saved the $3 extra dollars. There truly was no difference from their standard steak. We all also ordered drinks. The service is very friendly. The place is very clean and nice looking. The food is very good. Especially the fried rice and Japanese veggies. We had differing opinions on the shrimp and steak. Some thought tender and delicious and others thought harder and rubbery. We still definitely recommend Zuki for some fine dining Japanese fare. Remember this will not be a cheap meal out. As our total bill came to roughly $90 dollars.

I am always a little skeptical about new sushi places...and was pleasantly surprised with the ambiance, selection and prices here. I've mentioned it to others and all agree it is very good. We started with one of their daily specials...then ordered two more rolls. Half price on selected items during the day...even on weekends. Very good service too. I will be back to try their Udon noodles...one of my favorite dishes...paired with a roll or two.

Boyfriend and I went for a 2nd anniversary, and it was fantastic. Zuki isn't receiving a full 5 stars since the decor, tables, overall atmosphere wasn't the best. We started off with some dumplings and edomanma- both delicious. We received great attention from our waiter. He was attentive, but some language barriers could make it difficult for a novice sushi goer. Ended up getting 5 sushi rolls. Kobe beef, spicy tuna, California, fuji, and volcano. All were delicious. My favorite was the kobe beef, my boyfriend loved the volvano. I personally would ask for no jalapeño on my kobe beef, but bf loved it and it was extremely easy to take off. Finished with tempora ice cream, not very good... would absolutely return in future.

Zuki is outstanding. The ambiance is mello yet classy (fit for a date or just a relaxed dinner), the rolls are excellent (great miso soup and house ginger salad as well), and I heard that on mondays and tuesdays they have a discount as well. When I know i'm having Zuki for dinner my day is a happy one.

Sufficient sushi - nothing mind-blowing, but I definitely enjoyed what I had and left quite full! The sweet potatoes in my sweet potato rolls were a bit tough. Service was so-so. It was a busy Saturday evening, but I definitely went thirsty for a while during my meal. I'd certainly return, but I'm not in a rush to come back either.

We're here at least once a month, and have never strayed into the hibachi side. The sushi and rolls on the sushi bar side are delicious and many are an amazing value. Decor here is modern and pretty, with awesome lighting. Parking is right out the door, free, in the XL parking lot. Zuki is super clean, and has upscale bathrooms (at least the ladies' room is!) The sushi masters are wonderful. Service is usually quite good, attentive and courteous. Complimentary edamame is always perfectly salted. Sometimes there is an unusual lag time for the bill to arrive, but that might be the Zuki way of not making the diner feel rushed out the door. If you like sushi and rolls, you will enjoy Zuki. They will make any roll for you and substitute soy paper for the seaweed, so if you're not a fan of seaweed, no problem. The daily chef's special roll is, without fail, worth a try. The portions on most rolls are towards the high side from what we've found, so trying one sushi dish and two rolls is enough for two people. Some of the best menu items include the tuna tataki, which is always very fresh and tasty, and never a bloodline; paper tuna, a stunningly gorgeous concoction of spicy tuna and crunchy, wrapped in shaved slices of avocado and topped with frizzled sweet potato tempura; angel hair roll (apple, fried shrimp, crunchy stick and crab meat); and the shrimp tempura roll. They also have tasty gyoza dumplings and beef tataki, decent clear soup (but I did not care for the taste of their miso soup, I've had better). Full bar menu with some creative drinks, which they may or may not be able to make for you depending upon who is behind the bar! They have also recently added shabu-shabu, which is a tableside cooking experience. Can't wait to give that a whirl, it's not something you see every day, especially in the south 'burbs!

  • Paul D.

I'm not the biggest fan of Hibachi. Once you've seen one rice beating heart or onion locomotive, you've seen them all, but as far as Sushi goes, in my opinion, it's the best you can find in the South burbs. I usually just grab it to go, but it looks like a nice atmosphere. Still working my way through the special rolls, but so far my favorites are the Rock & Roll and the Fire Dragon Roll. There is a Yelp deal for a free app with your first check-in, so if you're on the fence...

Having moved to rural Manhattan, IL from the Schaumburg area about a year ago my husband and I were hoping a sushi restaurant would open up closer to our home since we both LOVE sushi. When we saw that Zuki was going to be opening in Mokena we started doing weekly drive bys to see when it was opening. Well they finally opened up and so we had to try it. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and has a warm and inviting atmosphere. We went for a late lunch (around 2:15pm on Sunday) and sat at the sushi bar. There were only a few other patrons in the restaurant which could be due to them only being open a week or the odd time we decided to stop in. We received a warm greeting from the hostess and this was a prelude to the service we would get throughout the meal. Both the waitress and the sushi chef were very attentive and had good senses of humor with out being corny. We started out with some edamame, which was very good and then ordered 4 rolls (Rainbow Roll, Angel Roll, Red Dragon Roll and Fire Dragon Roll) to split between the 2 of us. They were all very good, with the Red Dragon Roll being my favorite. I'm not going to say this is the best sushi I have ever had because I have had lots of excellent sushi, but it was VERY good sushi and if the service and the quality stays the same we will be regulars. They also have a Teppan-Yaki dining and other Japanese menu items, such as Udon.

  • Ronda P.

First off, the restaurant itself is very clean, modern, and beautiful. It looks like a downtown restaurant, but right in Mokena. One side has the grills (teppanyaki) where the chefs put on a show and cook your food right in front of you and the other side has more intimate tables and is more for sushi and other menu items. We did the teppanyaki (sometimes referred to by people as hibachi), so that's what this review is about. The soup is a little more spicy than I've had before at other Japanese restaurants, but still very tasty. Our chef put on a GREAT show and was very personable and engaging. Also, the waitress was very quick with the refills which is always very much appreciated. The chicken fried rice might be the best I've ever tasted. The noodles were a little more dry than I'm used to but they were still good and I have to remember that every place makes everything different. I ordered the steak and got quite a LARGE portion. My son ordered the kid's chicken and got a big portion also. Definitely a good bang for your buck here. I would definitely return and bring friends.

My husband and I are on a Japanese Steakhouse kick so we wanted to give this place a try. The food isn't bad, it just isn't really on par with the other places we've tried. (Hamada in Tinley Park is much better) Right off the bat, the gassy smell of the grills is overwhelming. I get that it is a hibachi place and some smell is to be expected but this was by far the strongest I had ever noticed it at a hibachi restaurant. The food was reasonably priced and there are plenty of options. I got the Chicken and Steak and my husband got the Filet and Scallops. The Chef was funny and put on a good show. I felt bad because my toddler was in rare form and was scared by the fire and loud noises so the chef did his best to tame down the show. That said, we still had a good time.

I've been going to restaurants like this for a long time now. I particularly favor Teppan-Yaki (hibachi) dining and/or sushi restaurants. So when I saw a new one opening in my back yard I was very excited! I decided I'd go check it out with a friend for dinner during the week. When we walked in the first thing I noticed was the effort they took to create a very nice atmosphere for their patrons. I was well laid out with a Sushi bar, tables near by and a separate Teppan-Yaki area. There were three grills filled (out of a total of eight) and we were asked if we had reservations and when I told them no, they told us it would be a 25min wait. I was a little taken aback by this but we decided to stay and try it. After being seated approximately ~35min later, we were offered a large plastic sealed handi-wipe (I expected the traditional hot towel). After ordering our drinks, appetizers, sushi, and entrees. We awaited the chef to arrive. We ordered the seared beef appetizer which was good but heavily peppered (not described as so in the menu). The sashimi was very good as were the several rolls we ordered. The salads with ginger dressing was simple but flavorful as was the clear soup (which has a but of spice which was a welcome surprise). Then the chef arrives, greet us all, and begins cooking. He was personable and did a good job with his table presence. We were served our fried rice which was good, and then our noodles that were a bit bland. The vegetables were decent as were the appetizer shrimp. When he began cooking our entrees (I had ordered the fillet and my friend the chicken) he asked the table how they liked their beef cooked (to which I and several other patrons ordered medium rare). As it cooks and he does some knife tricks and other showmanship I look at the meat and notice it's starting to go way past medium rare. He finishes up my fillet and the other patrons steaks and immediately I ask if he's sure this is medium rare, as do two other patrons. He says 'Oh yes, those are medium rare'. They were cooked all the way though to the point bordering on medium well. The fillet it self was a decent cut but could have used a bit more seasoning. My friends chicken was a little over cooked as well and a little dried out as a result. The remainder of the experience was ok. Had the Banana tempura dessert and was pleasantly surprised, my friend had the included ice cream (low quality but not bad). Given the level or service and the pricing (which was average for the style of place, but high considering being located in a strip mall in the far south burbs) my overall recommendation would be to give this one a pass. I may try it again after they work out some of their opening kinks but there are too many other offerings that aren't very far that offer a superior dining experience.

I went to Zuki with a group of 7 adults and 4 kids. Everything was awesome. The staff was very friendly to everyone in our party. The food was great and the chef was very entertaining and had our kids laughing the whole time. He even got my 10 year old son to catch a piece of broccoli he flipped in his mouth. The steak was my favorite and reasonably priced, upgrade to the filet, it's great.

yes the food here is good and fullfilling. HOWEVER, me and five others went here for New Years. We (100% sure) scheduled our reservation for 8:30 and were not seated until 10:30! We had also seen several groups get seated before us even though they came in later and had substantially larger parties.(In essence, the entire staff there was clueless to recognizing our needs as customers). We went to the bar for some drinks and the prices were absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. After being seated, the struggle continued as we got paired with some belligerently drunk couple. Aside from that whole issue they only took half off the groups drinks orders which forced us to wait, YET AGAIN, another 30 minutes for 2 waters and 2 beers. It was honestly the worst display of service the 6 of us have ever seen in our lives (this is not exaggerated). You can tell it was horrible service since this review is five months after the fact. Very disappointed since it has such good food to. The horrendous service does not counter the good food and entertainment of it being made. I encourage you to go anywhere else but here unless u have 3 hours to wait for a table. I swear to god the bartender stared as us at least 56 times and ignored us every single time and we had to borderline yell at her in frustration to get our drinks finally.

My boyfriend and I go to Tribes frequently, but we got a late start on a Saturday night and there was already at 1.5 hour wait for a table at Tribes. We decided to go next door to Zuki and give it a try. We normally go to Hamada (Tinley Park) and Fuji (Orland Park) so we aren't strangers to what to expect. After telling us there was going to be a 30 minute wait, we only waited about 5 minutes, so that was good. That was the only good thing in fact because once we actually sat down, it took them 10 minutes to get our drink orders, and after another 15 minutes, still never received our drinks. The alcoholic drinks came eventually to the other members at our table, but then the waitress turned to us and asked us if we got anything to drink. We told her again and she wandered off (we got a water and a diet Pepsi!), but they never came. 25 minutes had gone by at this point without the waitress bringing our drinks or even taking our order. We finally made the decision to leave. As a former waitress of 7 years, these are small things that should be addressed right when the guests sit down. If it's busy and hectic, you need to at least make sure the guests have drinks or make them aware that it is extremely busy and offer an appetizer. You don't just leave them sitting with nothing on the table for 25 minutes or any kind of acknowledgement. Unfortunately, I did not get to try the food I saw everyone raving about because we never got the chance so I cannot comment on that, but we were highly disappointed with the service and will not be returning.

I love this place. The best hibachi dinners I've had. We sit at the hibachi table , or a quiet table on the other side of the restaurant by the bar. The food is fresh and plentiful. Not too expensive. You can stay local and have a Chicago type of experience. Zuki is better than Benihana ever was. You get noodles and fried rice with the meal. Bigger portions. You bring food home. The best.

Gone here numerous times for the sushi lunch overall a decent price for the amount of sushi you get. Have been for hibachi only twice had mixed experiences the first time we had tons of food and were even able to take home leftovers. Second time the food was still good although the portions were a different size considerably smaller. All in all reasonable for lunch and I would recommend coming for lunch as the prices go up significantly for dinner. I will definitely go back here again.

We really enjoyed Zuki. Honestly I think it's the best Japanese Steakhouse in the area. I like that they don't charge extra for fried rice. We go with our 17 month old son and the chefs are very friendly and when they see me feeding him from my plate they cut a bit to put on his dish. We've thoroughly enjoyed going and need to try the sushi! My one complaint that keeps it from getting five stars is the last time we were there they changed their chicken teriyaki and it just wasn't as good.

I came to Zuki for a family birthday dinner on Saturday night. We had a reservation for the Hibachi table and thank god because this place was crowded. We sat down and unfortunately noticed right away how slow the waitress was. And by the looks of the family sitting next to us they didn't look very pleased either. They were actually going up to the bar to get their drinks because she was so slow. On top of that they had already had 2 drinks before even ordering their food. Unreal. We all had drinks from the bar and it took about 15 minutes to get the drinks. My boyfriend had the steak & shrimp combo, my brother had the chicken and my mom, me and my other brother all had the filet. The chef was awesome! Great personality, really funny and entertaining. The meal started with soup - which was just broth but flavorful (salty) then a small salad which was boring and watery, then fried rice which was very good and then noodles, the veggies came next, then the meat came last. The meal was so good, we all loved the food. I thought the filet was very good and the shrimp wasn't bad either. We all got ice-cream for dessert. We used a restaurant.com $25 off so that was a nice little deal we had. The bill wasn't bad and we all walked out completely stuffed. I will be back for sure, between Hibachi and sushi I am one happy girl. Not many options of restaurants in the Mokena area so this place should be a gold mine for the owner.

Both hibachi and sushi are great. I eat here pretty frequently and have never had a bad meal. My only complaint is being charged extra for a little dish of eel sauce...really? But the food and service are great.

Their sushi has always been pretty good. They have well priced 2 or 3 roll special for lunch.

We went to the steakhouse. The food was cooked perfectly, but the meat portions were small for the price. Our cook wasn't experienced enough to fling the stir fry in our guests mouth with his spatula though he kept trying. He beamed everyone in the forehead or eye, and oh after missing the second time, you think he'd quit. It got a little embarrassing. The worst part was the service. The place was empty, yet our waiter couldn't get our initial drinks to us for at least 20 minutes. He had an angry disposition to him too. Again, very uncomfortable. I can't imagine this business succeeding with this kind of service and these prices. A shame.

I have been to Zuki 3 times now. Twice for sushi and once to the steakhouse side. It is clean & the food is always amazing. They also offer a great deal thru restaurant.com . I have never had bad service or seen anyone complain there. I would highly recommend it. It's by far one of my favorite spots for girls night out!

I have been here three times for hibachi. The food is great, including fried rice and noodles which i usually think are bland at other japanese restaurants. We went during the holidays and the wait was long but once they got the ball rolling everything was great. The chef puts out a fire with a toy boy who pees on the fire with water of course. the couple at our table with their six tear old son was mortified when the chef had the toy whizz on their kid. If you are uptight stay away from this place. or not, because we laughed more at the mom's facial expression and reaction than from what the chef actually did. Two of the woman in our party missed the whole thing, so we asked the chef to play along when the comeback to the table and he played along and we never laughed so hard. My daughter loves scallops now, even more than shrimp. They are super tender and drained just right. I also recommend the filet. Haven't tried the sushi.

Overall, I found my experience here better than when I dined at some other teppanyaki joints in the area. I went here with a total group of 4 late on a Saturday afternoon. We were met at the door by a friendly waitress who informed us that there would be a short wait because they had a couple reservations to seat first. After about 20 minutes, we were seated at a hood, ready to go. After ordering the drinks, we placed our orders. First suggestion I have is, when asked about salad dressing, go for the ginger one. I had ordered the ranch, but I tried some of it from a person in my group and it was excellent. The soup was delicious, and left me definitely ready for what was coming. The show that the chef put on was great, at least what I could see of it was. I ended up at the table facing his back, so it was hard for me to see all he was doing. That being said, he really did a good job ensuring that I could see most of what he was doing. After the really technical display, it came time to go head long into my steak entree. It was perfect. I ordered it medium, and it had just the right balance of dead and red as I put it. I would definitely consider coming again. This time, I will remember to make a reservation. I also hope to be in a better seat. After that, maybe I could bump this up to 5 stars.
