It is definitely old-school ambience here. Frank Sinatra music playing in the background with really, really dim lights. I kept thinking "classy joint." Nice if you want to impress your date and blow over $100.00 on a meal for two. They have quite a few upscale items on the menu (baked clams, escargot, frog legs, osso buco, lamb chops). My surf and turf plate was $75.00 - market price. If you want double-baked potato instead of plain baked, you pay an extra $2.25. The double-baked was simply browned on top in the shell - no cheese, no bacon, no chives - just plain mashed potato. The vegetable that came with our meals was buttered corn, which I am not going to complain about because I love buttered corn, but maybe others might expect more from a $25.00-$75.00 plate. White zinfandel was $8.00 a glass. Soda was $2.00 a skinny glass with no refills. Then again, that is what I expected price-wise when I walked in. The lobster portion was pretty ample. The steak was a ladies cut (fine by me because I would not have been able to eat a larger portion) with a smoky flavor - good but not oh-my-gosh-we-have-to-come-here-again good. Flavor-wise I'd say the surf and turf meal was worth $50.00 tops. My boyfriend got the lemon shrimp for about $25.00 which he said was delicious. He also loved the fresh-baked bread. The butter was molded into cold hard rose-shaped patties - kind of a nice touch but my butter fell through the holes in the middle of my bread - yikes! Absolutely no room for dessert so I can't comment on that. What I really liked about this place was the owner himself, Mr. Benny, walked around to every table to introduce himself and shake everyone's hand and say to let him know if anyone needed anything. Now THAT'S classy. You can't beat customer appreciation.
