I first tried Surf's up when they were located on Austin in Chicago. The portions were generous and the food was cooked fresh to order. I have since ordered from Surf's up in Maywood twice and I was not a huge fan of the portions and the food wasn't made fresh to order. Our shrimp were cold and the portions for the price left me unsatisfied. I did not like the hot wings at all, they were extremely salty and cut in a weird way (I am not sure what that was about). The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is clean and they offer free coffee and tea. I will continue to order the grilled shrimp on occasion, but will make sure to ask for fresh and hot shrimp.

My friend and I ordered from Surfs Up in Maywood and we were so disappointed. We waited over an hour for the delivery only to find that the driver went to the wrong address. The food was overpriced, the shrimp were fried too hard and barely warm. The greens were good but the thin slice of cornbread fell apart when I took it out of the bag. Don't even get me started on the pathetic onion rings!!!! I won't call the restaurant to complain bcuz they might offer me more of their garbage for free or at a reduced price which I would absolutely refuse. I could've gotten a better meal on the dollar menu at Mc Donald's.

I would like to offer a review on the food but I didn't get the chance. After seeing ads on both Restaurant.com and Groupon I wanted to try this local cajun place. But before I could order he saw my coupon and said "we stopped taking those". Clearly, they were active on both sites and getting the promotion. Groupon was even featuring them that day. If you want to stop the program, pull your ad and honor what has already sold. That crap annoys me and speaks to the owners ethical standards. I left and decided to go to Don Alfredo up the road in Melrose without a coupon as they previously honored certificates they offered happily. Too bad. I love Cajun food and can't always go to Loop for Heaven On Seven. Remember, what goes around, comes around. That's karma baby!

I came here to try the fried lobster, I'd heard from a few people and read reviews that it was a dish to try. I decided to come to the newer location in Maywood. I ordered two fried lobster dinners, a half pound of shrimp, and a side of fried green tomatoes. My total was around $46. The fried lobster dinners were 13.99 each, the shrimp 9.9 and the fried green tomatoes were 4.99 all taxes were additional. First, I do like that the food is made to order and the staff works together efficiently. The wait wasn't very long either. Now I knew with ordering lobster that it's a speciality item, but when I got my meal home I did not expect such a small portion. The meal looked more like a snack and not worth $13.99 in my opinion. The side of dirty rice was 3/4 cup full and I got a roll along with the 3 nugget-like pieces of lobster. I know we're not in Cali where you can get huge portions of seafood but I still expected more. The rice was on the dry side, so I didn't eat it. The lobster was good but I just wish there was more. I really liked the shrimp, they are huge and you get a good amount of them. The fried green tomatoes were also good. I could've bought 2 pounds of shrimp and would've gotten a better value. I think I'll stay away from the lobster next time and try other menu items.

Oh lucky day! I just happened to pass this location on my way to take my mother to physical therapy. When I first saw the sign I thought I had to be dreaming but when I turned around and went back past it, I realized it wasn't a mirage. And I must admit I got very happy. Having heard about this place and their wonderful food, I said I had to try them. Unfortunately I hadn't gotten the time to go to their other location in the Austin neighborhood, even though its not that far from me. When I saw this location I said I had to try it, but it was not open yet. So I ended up going someplace else to grab something to eat, I was too famished to wait. I did return though and tried the fried green tomatoes, and they were delicious. I am looking forward to my mothers next appointment with the physical therapist so that I can try some more of their delicious food. I will definitely do an update when I get to try more from their menu. They have gotten off to a great start with me, because I absolutely love fried green tomatoes, and even more when its done right.

Food is excellent. Cooked to order so be prepared to wait. It is worth the wait. I've had the chicken, catfish(fried and grilled), lobster bites, and shrimp which were all seasoned, hot, and yummy. They also have turkey greens that are cooked like you grandmother made them, not from the can like other soul good restaurants!

Chicken tastes like I fried it myself. So it was very tasty! The only thing that got me was when I saw some feathers. I hate seeing feathers on my chicken. Praying that this was just an oversight. We'll see next time.

I eat here too much, love those FRIED GREEN TOMATOES and that dust they put on the chicken wings is to die for. They got the best fries, I have gained a lot of weight eating here....cant help it, they're just that good

Great food. Roosevelt Rd congested hard to get in parking lot. I love this place. Glad Surfs Up is in Maywood. Hey please consider adding hush puppies to the menu. I'm having a half pound of shrimp.
