Hit and miss. Sometimes they keep the food fresh and sometimes not. I guess sometimes they're too busy chasing after their toddlers they allow to run around the place and sometimes they're busy waiting on tables while talking on their cell phones at the same time. They DO have frog legs! Unfortunately you have to ask them to replenish them on the buffet, otherwise they won't. The sushi is pretty decent as far as Chinese buffet sushi goes. My recommendation would be, keep the food fresh, keep your kids on a leash if you insist on bringing them to work and stay the hell off your cell phone while waiting on customers. OOHHH, one last thing. This establishment does not carry insurance that covers accidental injuries to customers. Soooo, keep a close eye on your children. If they get hurt due to a broken table and chair the bills will be your responsibility.

Had been here several times over the last 7 years and always good. Not tonight, came with a local group and wondered why was this place dead on a Saturday night, soon found out why. I tried every chicken dish and none were even good, some blah, the black pepper chicken was cold, the rest barely edible. Egg rolls were great by the way, rice was good, but hard to mess that up. Shrimp, meh, even the cookies, just okay. I'm from Chicago and have had my share of just ok Chinese food and this is barely in that group. Had to go to Wendy's later to get full.

Food is good if you go at the right time, I don't recommend going right before they close, as they don't have the buffet fully stocked. They are clean and tidy. They also have a good selection of sushi, though I would be careful to check and make sure it hasn't been sitting out for a while. It's nothing special but as far as Chinese buffets go I think it's pretty good. Definitely the best in mattoon.

You will NOT go thirsty in this place. Don't look a waitress in the eye, they will definitely ask you if you need a refill when your cup is still half full. Great service and even better food. If you want Chinese food, go here.

Basing solely on Mattoon area, this place is the best Chinese Buffett I have found. If there's one complaint to be had, it would be that a lot of the food tastes the same. What seems like a good variety turns out to be misleading. Staff is always nice.

I have all ways went to QQ Buffet over any other Chinese Buffet in town since it opened. I went a little after 1 o'clock today and will NEVER go back. I as usual tried a little bit of most things on the buffet so my plate was very full. I did not realize I was not quite as hungry as I thought I was and didn't eat much of what I got. I was horrified when the waitress came over to the table asked if I was finished and after I told her yes I was done she told me next time if I wasn't going to eat all of it not to get so much! I paid the same price as every one else and did not get more than most people as I am a very small person and I paid just as much as everyone else! I got into an argument with her about me having paid like everyone else and if she didn't want me to get so much then I should not have been charge like everyone else. She still told me several times I should not have got so much. I then paid my bill and left. I have never been treated so poorly in a restaurant! I am a waitress (have been for over 6 years now) myself and would have been fired on the spot for doing this!

I went here with Kwoky L. and we slightly disagree on the approval of QQ Buffet. I am actually from Mattoon, IL and did not know what great Chinese food should taste like until I moved to Chicago. For a small 19,000 population like Mattoon, I would have to say that QQ is an okay place to eat Chinese food, if not the best place in the Mattoon/Charleston area. I found their selection to be much larger than other buffets in the area. I was astonished to see the sushi table as part of the buffet and it tasted somewhat fresh to me. I cannot stand any fishy taste in my seafood (that's why I love San Francisco). The sushi and the mussels were good enough for me to eat. I really enjoyed the crab rangoon. I know, I know. Crab rangoon isn't Chinese. I still like it. So, overall against Chicago, QQ Buffet may not be the best Chinese restaurant, but for Central IL, it is one of the best. I would go here again and again. Have Fun!!!

My family is a regular of the QQ and we think it is super tasty. The food is always hot and delicious. There is a good selection of food on the buffet, the staff is super friendly, plus there's sushi and a make your own stir fry bar. Out of all the Chinese places to eat at in Mattoon, the QQ is the best!

Very rude staff. I wanted the mongolian grill and made my plate. The owner said it would be ten minutes before she could cook it. Ten minutes turned into 25. We were done eating and waiting for the check when she finally brought it over. My 4 year old son was eating ice cream and wanted to take the rest with him in the car. I asked for a spoon and she gave me a dirty look and said they usually charge to take ice cream with. Really he is four and the ice cream was half gone. I paid and she the informed me that we wasted her time and food because undid not eat all my Mongolian grill food. Very very rude. We will never go back. The food wasnt the greatest either.

There is a reason why I don't expect anything spectacular out of a Chinese buffet. Because I never had. The selection is pretty big for a restaurant in a tiny town. They have a lot of chicken dishes, some seafood, salmon which people hardly touch and surprisingly, sushi (with cooked fillings). We are in meat and potato central, so I was disappointed with the seafood. Well, disappointed with the taste in general. Not coming back anytime soon, if not ever.

Great amount of food for a good price. Nice and decent service and friendly owners. I think that our favorite are the crab ragoons and also the rice noodles.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
