Tasty goodness. We had the bbq chicken with apple chutney, reuben, and chicken tenderloins. We liked our dinner, and the desserts. Cobbler and pie, most excellent.

I give this place 3 stars. Some days are good, some days are horrible. My family and I often Go to the one in Mattoon IL. There are days when service is horrible. For example, when my daughter and I got seated, we waited 10 minutes for our waitress to take our drink orders. We even asked the hostess if our waitress forgot about us. She insisted that the waitress will be right out. Of course after waiting 10 minutes she finally took our order. I know that this place can get a little busy but on this day, it wasn't busy at all. There were only 3 other families in our section. The good days are when we get our orders in and our food is delivered to us in a timely matter. Even though service is slow at times, we still come back here because the food is great and the price is perfect. Also the staffs here are very welcoming and nice

This particular location has become so cheap with its portions it's beyond ridiculous. A chicken breastfeeding from and recipe on the menu looks likes it's from a damn pigeon. The pork chops are basically the same portion size as any chicken breast. $6.29 for 3...THREE god damn pancakes is absolute bullshit! Plain ass peppered gravy for the B&G and do not bother with any ham with any breakfast plate, you're lucky if you get an end piece that's more than 2 bites and dry as a bone. There are many more things to list. Cracker Barrel in Mattoon IL. just is not a good buy for the money.

What can I say, It's a Cracker Barrel. So, it's Delicious. The French toast I had was fantastic. The Hashbrown casserole was great, and the bacon hit he spot. They were friendly and accommodating to a large table of 10 and they have a Kids menu.

I've never been to a Cracker Barrel before this trip. The dinners are huge, I ordered the Country Fried Steak which came with 3 sides. The Country Fried Steak was deliciously seasoned and had the perfect amount of country gravy. The side dishes however were boring. I had the Whole Kernel Corn, Macaroni N' Cheese, & Turnip Greens. The corn was so overcooked that it was chewy. The Macaroni N' Cheese tasted like it was made with a cross between pump cheese and stale Velveeta. All was not lost, because the service was very good. Sadie was friendly and she kept our drinks filled. She did a very good job making sure that our needs were met. The store was charming and I saw so many things that I wanted to purchase as gifts. The rocking chairs they sell are comfortable and look great, they are also priced to sell. The people working in the store are super friendly and attentive. Food: 2 Service 4 Store: 4

I must admit, I'm not a big fan of Cracker Barrel, as they have a tendency to serve mediocre food, with poor service. After a long drive, we decided to give this location a chance and I'm glad we did. The service here was very good. The waitress was tentative, helpful and very cheerful. The food came out as ordered and presented well. Unlike other Cracker Barrel's where it is evident the food is just slopped onto the plate. Even better, my scrambled eggs were very good and I really enjoyed the country grave and biscuits. I was pleased with the overall results, especially considering with my family and I moving into this general area, it's good to see we'll have a good breakfast place to eat at.

Service is awful! We waited 15 minutes just for a server, another 10 for2 weak iced teas, I thought about leaving-should have. Food finally came overdone, dry pancakes/bacon burnt. I won't be back and I'm telling everyone I know. Cracker Barrel is not fine dining, but you usually get something decent to eat; not in Mattoon, il.

I've never really been a big fan of Cracker Barrel but our prison ministry trips that take us downstate results in us visiting one on occasion. The two starts doesn't mean it was bad it just doesn't excite me like a Thai or Indian cuisine or simply a blood pump clogging joint. I usually have the chicken tenders which are good but ho hum in craving. This time I went with the pot roast and for a gravy saturated dish it was nothing to make a A-OK about. The service has always been 'Yay I'm a fan' but you can only enjoy the service so much it's the food, the chow, the grub that determines a 'Woohoo' verses an 'Eek' The others in the group seem to always enjoy it since they chose it often (I'm one who prefers to go with the flow so as not to feel I need to have my way) so perhaps for the not fussy bears it is an A-OK but me I've had better. So if your in to simple and good service go for it if your in to stuffing the gut perhaps not

A cracker barrel is a cracker barrel right? I mean they all have the same menus and things in the store but it's good. The service at this location was great and our nice server made sure my coffee cup was always full! My BF had never been to a cracker barrel so what better place to take a man who loves to eat. He got a pork chop with his breakfast!! HELLO!! ahahahaa! So yea! It was good and we went twice on our trip to Mattoon. Keep up the good work Mattoon CB

This is my first visit to Cracker Barrel and I am quite pleased with the experience. The store is well stocked and plenty of gifts to choose from. Upon entering the restaurant, there's a fireplace to the right and it makes the entire place warm and cozy. The service was great and the food was good. At this time of the year, they serve apple cider, which was what I had. I also ordered the sausage with hash brown casserole. The potatoes were a little dry though, probably left out for too long. I love their apple butter and it goes really well with the biscuit. When we're done, the server didn't give us a hard time for splitting the checks even though we're a big group. So, a big plus to that. If you want to check it out, make sure you go early because they are extremely popular in Mattoon. 3.5 stars for me.
