Burger or Hamburger is savored as the most desired fast food meal in the United States. A hamburger is basically a sandwich prepared by stuffing ground meat patty, generally beef, between two slices of a bun cut in half. Hamburger is also famous for its seasoning. Most popular condiments used in hamburgers in the United States are mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup. Besides ground meat patty, hamburgers are also stuffed with lettuce, onions, tomato slices, pickles, and cheese.
Hamburgers are also categorized into two types in the United States. Fast food hamburger and individual hamburgers served at restaurants are two basic types of burgers served in the United States. The individual hamburgers served at restaurants are prepared using everything including lettuce, onion, tomato, and sliced pickles as well as melted cheese on the patty or crumbled on top. American restaurants also serve veggie burgers for those who don't relish meat. Cheeseburgers are also hot favorite in the United States.
McDonalds is the most popular fast food burger restaurant serving different types of burgers in the United States. On the other hand, there are several restaurants such as Burger King are famous for serving the best hamburgers in the United States. Most burger restaurants in the United States often serve hamburgers with French fries and other condiments. If you have a liking for burgers in the United States, then you won't be disappointed. Amazing burgers, fries, shakes and even better service -if you can imagine! Build your own burger is great but the meat itself is so tasty just the original as it comes is yummy!!! Don't miss the shake either!

I came for the ahi tuna burger recommended by a friend. I only gave it 4 stars as I thought it was a small size for the patty. If it were a better sized portion, it may have received the extra star. You pick the type of bread and toppings you want on it. I had it with a multigrain bun with no cheese and wasabi mayo spread instead. For under $3, I added a side of Caesar salad. The salad had perfectly crunchy house made croutons.

First impression after ordering my food, lack of customer service. This was my first time at this restaurant so I had no idea how the number system worked. The lady behind the cashier asked if I knew how it worked so I replied "no" so I could find out. Apparently no meant yes that day because she moved onto the next customer leaving me to figure it out on my own. The numbering system is not hard, but why bother asking if you're not going to respond. Next came the food which I will agree the burger was good, but the coat was higher compared to similar establishments. I was really disappointed with the onion rings, they were more like onion strings. They were soaked in oil which made them not enjoyable and left on the plate for the trash. I will not be so fast to return.

Brian it's a shame you are the manager at this store. Something either college or training forgot to teach you was exceptional customer service. I'm sorry I inconvenienced you by placing an order by phone, where you had difficulties hearing me speak at a decent pitch. I'm sorry that when I came into your establishment after moving here for only my 2nd T&E experience I asked they be placed in separate bags, because I was thinking it was like a grab and go and I didn't want 6 orders crammed in a bag. Then when I realized it and we rebadged into two bags I asked for help carrying 2 bags of burgers and 2 carrying cases to my car, I was told to take 2 trips! Are you kidding me!!!??? Who says that. I am blown away, and not in a good way. In fact, I will never be back to this location because of the way you behaved. I was picking these up for clients, there are so many other options where they go the extra few steps. The sad thing is, one of your subordinates saw your failure and offered to assist in which at that point it was too late. You're a horrifying manager and disservice to this location.

I love how you can create your own burgers or choose from their creations. You can choose your own bread, toppings and cheese. I had one of their creations with chorizo and it was ok. The friends I went with created their own and it tasted better. So if you do go try creating your own. The burger patties are medium so you can load all the topping you want.

After many months of lifestyle eating changes, I had just bought 3 pairs of size 34 waist jeans and decided to treat myself to something special. I am in the food business, make millions of burgers a week amongst other stuff and love burgers, thought I don't eat them very much. So tonight as a reward, I decided to pig out and treat myself to a delicious burger, fries and a shake as I heard so much about Tom and Eddies, much of it true. Yes, the people are exceptionally delightful, charming, friendly and accommodating. Yes, the restaurant, fun welcoming and very clean. They have a fun condiment bar with exotic some locally produced exotic mustards, hot sauces and other stuff. There is a book and toy rack, a contemporary retro diner feel, big windows and easy parking. The chocolate malt shake with chocolate ice cream and sweet potato fries were excellent. The fries were hot, crisp, and not greasy They have about 8 exotic custom burgers on the menu (and I believe chicken and other stuff) they are on trend with a simple menu board and burger build profiles such as truffle mayo, caramelized onions, exciting cheeses, spicy flavours, fun ingredient combos etc. I couldn't customize, or if so I wasn't aware of that but that was ok cause the choices looked delicious. But what about the burger? Well, maybe I have eaten too many burgers in my day, set my expectations too high or got there too close to closing when people were getting tired but I found it to be interesting but didn't get the "whoa" wow factor I was anxiously anticipating. While overall quite tasty, I found the burger a little too thin, crumbly and the bun too chewy, overwhelming the flavor of the meat. Toasting the bun may have helped but that may not have been the texture or mouthful they were going for with this build. That said, what I ordered was a special burger of the month and not their core menu so maybe they didn't dial this burger bun pairing as tightly as they do for their regular items, not that that's an excuse, for what I paid, it should be. Given the explosion of outstanding gourmet burger joints all over Chicago, and the country, I would rank them solidly in the middle of the pack on the burger and towards the top on other components of the total experience. But, when you tout yourself as the "Greatest Burger in the World", you need to deliver that 24/7 I will be back with an open mind as I believe they deserve it.

I absolutely loveeeeeethis place! It's super clean, the staff is sweet, and the food is beyond my wildest dreams! I will definitely be going here more often and I will most likely recommend this place to everyone I know indefinitely!

I went in on last Friday and was welcomed by a gentleman named Brian. I told him that it was my first time and wanted a burger. He proceed to explain in detail the different burgers and what side options I could get. I sat at the counter and watched the staff cook my Classic Burger. An employee appear with my sandwich and asked if I needed anything else. I said yes, I forgot to order extra pickles, the person went back to the kitchen and returned with a cup. The burger was cooked perfectly and was very juicy. I was so satisfied with my meal, I decided to order a chocolate shake to go, which was delicious. I am coming back next week for the sweet potato fries.

My mistake for coming here after having Butcher & the Burger for my previous meal but Tom & Eddie's serves a decent bite if you're looking to satisfy a rumbling stomach while shopping. I got the regular sized Blue Chip burger and it was more than enough for a late brunch. The patty is seared nicely but lacked the juiciness and flavor of B&B. My main gripe is that the bun comes non-toasted and overwhelms the flavor of the patty, so I ended up taking off the bottom half of the bun. The potato chips added a nice crunch to each bite while the fresh avocado slices and creamy bleu cheese brought everything together. The onion straws were thin, delicate, crispy and packed with flavor (extra black pepper?). The sweet potatoes were also good, but standard. Great service, by the way!

I've been meaning to try this place. So I finally got over by Yorktown and took the plunge. I liked that you could build your own burger and you had a lot of choices. I had a pretzel bun with cheddar cheese and lettuce. It was pretty good. Very greasy though. I didn't like that. I also chose the sweet potato fries. They were much of the same. I feel like I could have made the same thing at home. The soda fountain had some weird choices but it was a nice mix up from your usual coke and Pepsi. I would compare this too 5guys. But I like five guys better. It is not as greasy and I like the Cajun fries better. I probably wouldn't go back just because it was a little expensive. I would rather take my money to five guys.

Had a very nice lunch with my wife on a Friday. The set up is you walk in, give them your order, fill up your drinks, and find a table. They bring you your food and find you with the # they give you. To eat we both had the Sriracha burger on special and shared large fries. The burger was pretty good; grilled onions along with the Sriracha sauce - a type of hot sauce from Thailand. Maybe they can add more meat to the patty. The large fries are for 2-3 people, they are traditional hand cut. One funny thing about where we were sitting was the fireplace is just for show, it doesn't turn on. We were cold and the nice bus boy turned up the heat for us in our area.
(5)Michael R.
This is a terrific burger and dog joint with a lot of flair and options. There's even a terrific edamame veggie burger that my wife loves. Experiment with all the toppings and have fun. Plus you can take your food to go and walk over to the Beer House.

Wow. So impressed. Burger was delicious - I built my own: double meat, Swiss and American, egg sunny side up, bacon, and house BBQ sauce. Fries were pretty good. Build your own float was great, they have some excellent sodas, made with real cane sugar. With all my extras, my meal came to almost $20... A hair under $15 is probably more the norm. They also have a great selection of fairly unique condiments. Service was crazy-fast. There weren't too many people in line, and I got my food in about 5 minutes. Staff is really friendly, too. I also like the cleanliness and cool touches like a tower of toys to keep kids busy. Definitely recommend.
(4)Nathan S.
Great burgers! I had the blue chip burger, and it was great. I walked away after ordering and said to my group, "hummmm i dont remember telling them how i wanted my burger to be cooked" someone replied "they cook all burgers to medium well if not told otherwise". So i thought i was going to have an overcooked dry burger (I like medrare or medium at most). The burger turned out great though! I like how they have a shared condiment rack with a ton of options. I think the building needs a little upkeep though. It looks like it is starting to see some Wear and tear.
(4)Jenny D.
The Baby Bella & Swiss was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Customer service was excellent. If I were staying in town longer, I would go there again very soon! Also, I like the selection of quiet toys and books to keep young kids busy at the table.
(5)Jeff K.
Walked up, ordered the Tried and True burger combo with the sweet potato fries, grabbed a table, food delivered, food devoured. Burger done perfect, not dry, just juicy enough to be messy in a good way. Enjoyed very much. The sweet potato fries which again were fried perfect, no ketchup needed. There we're a variety of condiments offered in their own section, with what I ordered, no additional condiment needed. Topped off the order with a salted caramel shake which was good but not oustanding. I will absolutely be back.

Tom and Eddie's offers a great burger for not much more than you'd pay at any other sit down restaurant. Along with a number of burger concoctions on the menu, every diner has the option of building their own burger, choosing everything from the ingredients, the slab of meat (you can order a veggie patty or a chicken breast for the more health conscious) to the type of bun. I ordered a cheeseburger with fresh mozzarella, and it did not disappoint. The burger was juicy, and the fries were very good too, albeit a little thin for my liking. My total for a burger, fries, and fountain drink came out to just under $15- considering I got my food in just under ten minutes and everything was hand made, it trumps any chain sit-down restaurant as a viable lunch option. The serving staff is always very friendly and makes a real effort to make sure your visit is a satisfying one. I work about 5 minutes away from here and would highly recommend it to anyone who happens to be in the Yorktown Mall/Oakbrook vicinity.

The Blue Chip Burger -- big and delicious! My first time. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Stopped in on a whim as it was late and just needed something, anything, to eat. Wasn't too impressed by the set up -- ordering at the counter and the dining area was a bit sterile....but boy, was I won over the minute I had that first bite of burger! Amazing! Would definitely return!

Tom & Eddie's is a trendy looking upscale burger joint that reminds me a lot of Smashburger and Meatheads. Right on the inside you see ugly green chairs and an attempt at "trendy" decor on the inside. Located in the food area of Yorktown mall the place is very clean on the inside and extremely stylized. Having been tipped off that they have a hot dog here, I was anxious to try it. In visiting there were two different kinds of hot dogs a "Windy City Jaimacan" dog which seems closer to a traditional Chicago style hot dog, and a Holy Hot Dog which is an attempt at a spicy dog. I decided to go for the Windy City style. The hot dog I received came on a poppy seeded bun. The bun appeared to be toasted and had the texture of it. The hot dog was actually cut in half so a lot of the juices you typically find in a hot dog were missing. This dog appeared to have been skinless prior to being slices in half. There were regular hamburger style sliced pickles on it rather than one long pickle, good relish, nice tomato slices and sport peppers. Overall this wasn't a bad flavor combination though the sausage itself suffered from having been cut in half. The big problem here was the price, this regular size hot dog was over four dollars with tax, if it were an amazing hot dog that might be acceptable, but it wasn't. If it came with fries or something else, it might be okay, but that wasn't the case either. Overall I was not at all impressed with Tom & Eddie's. The entire aesthetic of the place was very sterile and I found it to be quite off-putting. One other noteworthy complaint I have is that when you sit at your table you push a card into a pager which produces a rather loud high pitched beep repeatedly. Why they chose to use an ear piercing, migraine inducing system for determining where patrons are seated is beyond me. While my food was decent enough, it seems like you're paying a premium for their ugly decor and location. Considering the price I'd say avoid the hot dog here unless you're wanting to try an unusual variation on the traditional dog that doesn't knock it out of the park. Two stars for Tom & Eddies, it might be some people's cup of tea but it's not mine.

Just the history behind how this place got started is amazing! Our staff ordered take out which is always a gamble because its not super super fresh. I ordered a Tried and True burger and it was cooked to order just for me! There are so many different options to choose from like putting a fried egg on your burger which blows my mind every time! Oh, and you have to get the sweet potato fries as well. Serious YUM!
(4)Mandy A.
I love everything about this place. GREAT FOR KIDS! They have amazing burgers and fries. They even have toys for kids to play with. Love it!
(5)Grace I.
I had a great time here today. I went with my 3 friends for lunch and we were going to see a movie afterwards. First off, the price was pretty reasonable: 25 dollars for the four of us. Then there was our food.I ordered the build your own burger which was tasty, but when I took a bite, a bunch of grease poured eout into a puddle. (I guess this proves they cooked it well.) The fries were crunchy, but not too crunchy, which is the way I like it. One of my friends said her mac and cheese was good, but very thick. I'm probably going to come back here next time I'm in Lombard,
(4)Josh M.
Overpriced and underwhelming is what comes to mind. Everything look delicious until you sit down and it gets served to you. I get the whole diner style burger with gourmet toppings but for this price its a bit of a rip off. Two burgers a shake and fries for around $30 is the outer limits of what ill spend and it just fell short. The mushrooms should have been flowing and they were just lifeless texture that added little to the burger. The primavera was slightly better with the flavors melding together and a lighter touch. The sweet potato fries and shake are standards and were neither bad nor great. Overall it seems like a franchise that has to stick to what the recipes says. Not that I ask you to be heavy handed but come on man for a burger that price give me a little more especially when everything is ala carte.

I think it's time to update my review since my first review was on opening day! I'm impressed with the upgrades/updates to their menu. I've always thought the staff of Tom and Eddie's were especially good at gathering customer feedback and I think they really listen. I've had trouble finding what I really love here so this hasn't become a regular place for me. My husband and parents love it, though. I like the look and feel of the restaurant. It's unique, comfortable and cool. I kind of miss their old french fries- they now offer fresh cut fries which I know they are better for you but I'm just not into them. I still love their haystack onions and think they are my favorite anywhere- they aren't too spicy which I like. The selection of sauces near the drinks is pretty cool and a nice touch. My husband likes the spicy ketchup. I like the assortment of drinks and love Boylan's root beer. My husband tried a new shake- Irish Creme Coffee shake- and thought it was delicious. I tried a new sandwich I'd never had before- the Dixie Fried Chicken Sandwich- and really liked it. It's a thin breaded chicken breast (I think it's marinated in pickle juice?) and had house-made dill pickle mayo which was unique and added great flavor, topped with lettuce, tomato and onion and served on a soft and tasty sesame seed bun. Very good! We were really impressed with the person who took our order- Sara- she was very helpful and had a great attitude. Excellent service! Overall, we had a good experience here today and I think we'll be back more often!
(4)Rasmus N.
The place is "OK" .... Very nice and clean looking, good service, and i like the kid friendlyness - But the burgers are just little above average.
(3)Ryan S.
Phenomenal food and drinks! My girlfriend and I stopped by just to get a quick bite to eat and had never been here before so we thought we'd give it a shot. And we were not let down. We both opted to build our own burgers and I'd have to say this is the best BYO burger I've ever had. If you've ever had truffle fries or chips before and like them, you HAVE to add the truffle mayo to your burger. The fries are also delicious, they tend to pile on quite a bit so we were barely able to make a dent in the pile, but they were delicious. Their selection of drinks is pretty awesome as well. We went with the Black Cherry Cola and the Red Cream Root Beer.
(5)Renita M.
It's been 2 1/2 years since my initial review, so it's time for an update. Tom & Eddie's remains a bastion of quality and deliciousness, and is a top pick for a quality burger anywhere -- and especially in the quick-service category. They've revamped the menu some since first opening, so sides are now separate but you can make it a combo for pretty much the same price it was before. They've also added both some lower-cost (smaller?) and higher-end (not much more) options. But never fear, you can still build-your-own to your heart's content. (And, I forgot to mention, they DO have pretzel rolls now! Yay!) I've experimented with both their ideas and mine, and pretty much everything has come out delicious. I recently tried the "Philly Mess" -- the "mess" being their new takes on sloppy joes. I always hated sloppy joes as a kid, but this was very tasty, none of that fakey sweetness, just flavor, plus caramelized onion and provolone. Yummy. Their salads are full of delicious fresh ingredients and the milkshakes are awesome (and came in handy when I had a wisdom tooth out recently). All in all, Tom & Eddie's remains a winner.
(5)S K.
This place is great! Have very friendly staff who are willing to help you through the menu and wait on you. The food itself is pretty tasty. I prefer the grilled chicken and my partner likes the ground beef burgers. Both are cooked well and the toppings are fresh. I like that you order at the counter and don't have to wait for anyone to bring the bill at the end. Also they use peanut butter sauce (like friendlys) in their milkshake!!
(5)Yvonne B.
I normally only eat half of a burger. And I LOVE burgers. Crave them even. Still, I can only manage to eat about half. And that's without the bun. Tom & Eddie's changed that. I ate the whole thing. Bun, fries, and milkshake. All of it. I'm not sure if it was the friendly staff that made my stomach such an inviting chasm. Or maybe it was just that gosh darn delicious. I'd have to say it was a combination the two. Parking was easy. The space was bright and cheery and clean. The people were genuinely pleasant - welcoming. The food was good. I was able to walk off some of the meal in the Yorktown Mall afterward. I had the Blue Chip Burger although I think I would have preferred some of the others instead. They all had scrumptious descriptions. Even though I somehow managed to devour all of my food, I can't honestly say that it was the best burger of my life. Naw... But it was good and somehow inspiring.
(4)Dinah T.
A nice burger joynt. choose from their line of special burgers or build your own burger. The taste of the beef itself is ok, not too flavorful. You get your flavors with the condiments that's displayed on a wall next to the drinking fountains. I do like their main table that faces the open kitchen. You can watch people cook while you're eating. I won't go out of my way for this place, but I would stop by if I'm in the area for a burger.
(3)Heather B.
Good juicy burgers. I split an order of homemade chips which were excellent because I love homemade chips and these were perfectly salted (not over salted). Black cherry fountain soda was excellent.
(4)Payal G.
So I had the privilege to go to the VIP party at Tom & Eddie's and man was that a treat!!! Thank God for a loose dress cause I ate. ;-) I don't even know where to start with what I ate and what I loved. I tried the Islander, the Blue Chip, the Yin & Yang, the Bushel & Peck, the Create My Own Float, the Cookie, the Wine, and finally the Milk Shake and I can not wait to go back! (BTW - everything was the mini version so I'm that huge of a pig ;-) and I shared a lot of my food. The game plan was one bite for me and the rest was for my friend and the only thing I would not share was my wine!) I'm smart like that! Thank you very much! Either way, everything was worth trying but my favorite was the Islander (Ahi Tuna Burger) and the strawberry milk shake. Man they were both beyond amazing! I could not believe my taste bubs; they are flying off the chain. A kick of wasabi (which made my eyes tear up) with some yummy cold avocado; I could not ask for anything more. The sandwich hit the spot. Perfectly cooked tuna, a kick of heat, and a slice of cool avocado; who would want anything more! Really!?!?! Then to wash the sandwich down with a fresh made strawberry shake. Yummy!!!! So hats off to the Tom and Eddie's chefs. They sure know what they're doing. Plans for my next trip: A HOT DOG! Yes, I said a hot dog!!! And I can not wait!!! The name - Holy Hot Dog. The ingredients - Melted pepper jack cheese, hot giardinera, sriracha sauce, and haystack onions!!! Talk about amazing and different. I can't wait to go back and try the hot dog. And if you're wondering why not try a burger. Well, we know their burgers are good. I mean Tom & Eddie's know burgers. I mean really; how can we question that! That's a hands down yummy eat; its the other stuff I want to try and write about! Now my one and only request for Tom & Eddie's - please open up in the city so I can have a few drinks and taxi it home! ;-)
(5)Collette Y.
Tom and Eddie's have one of the best burgers! I love burgers and they must be really really good because I get them plain - meat and bun! Fries had a really great taste I'd say they were one of the BEST! At first one thinks this is a place like the other burger joints, but it had a more upscale atmosphere with fire place and outdoor dining area.I found the soda selections interesting because they had a brand of soda I had not heard of but tasted really good. (Yes, the regular brands were also there, as also tea.) I saw people with onion straws that looked delicious so I'll go back to try them. Parking is right outside the restaurant in the Yorktown Center, people were happy to help and happy to be there and everything was super clean!
(5)Jenny V.
so far im fan! i got the baby bella burger sans onions (raw not grilled) with sweet potato fries. sooo good! i also got a vanilla milkshake, standard. nothing too special. the place is small and cozy and i like that they have many many sauces to choose from by the fountain drinks. i definitely want to come back and try other burgers
(4)Benjamin G.
This place is mind blowing. Edamame burgers? Tuna burgers? Potato chips on your burger? This place is like the ultimate hamburger joint with a touch of gourmet but none of the attitude and none of the price. They have pure cane sugar sodas on tap and awesome milk shakes. Go now! You won't be disappointed. Take a look at their website to see all the cool burger combinations you can build.
(5)Vodka Sauce C.
Very good burgers . The Ampersand was amazing . The onion ring things were very good . We went for lunch , so it was not as busy , I can imagine the line at dinner . The chocolate shake was also very impressive .

Hello Yelpers! Well, I saw this place on Chicago's Best and I was at Yorktown shopping and my stomach started to growl. I wanted something lite, but filling since we are experiencing a heat wave. So we head to Tom and Eddie's. I guess you are wandering something light from a signature burger joint. Well, I ordered the Yin and Yang edamame burger, it was good, but te sweet potatoes fries were disappointing. I guess I expected the sweet potato fries to be seasoned with something other than salt, like another burger joint I reviewed in the past. My friend had a burger and he LOVED it. I will visit again and try the burgers and update this review. The staff was friendly.

I ate at Tom & Eddie's for the 1st time last night it was FANTASTIC. The Hambuger & bun were great & I also had the homemade chips. I did try the sweet potato fries and they were good, I usually don't care for sweet potato but I have to say the were good, I will have them again. I worked there last night it was their Family Night as a Magician & I will be there every other Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 PM more info @ paulleemagic.com

I loved Tom & Eddie's! Reasonable prices, and a great selection of toppings, sides, and the sandwich itself (beef, turkey, edamame, tuna, chicken...YUM!). The option to build your own burger sure satisfies the picky types! I had the Town and Country turkey burger with Pepper Jack instead of the feta. It was delicious. The meat was tasty, the portion size was perfect, and the garlic aioli is to die for! The sweet potato fries were OM NOM wonderful. Crispy on the outside and squishy in the middle. I can't wait to go back and try their other sides, but I'm not sure if I can resist these puppies. I've had good burgers and sweet potato fries before, but what I had NEVER experienced before was the BIRCH BEER. It was love at first sip. Though it is not a full service restaurant, the service was excellent. People would come by and ask us if we wanted refills on our drinks (YES. YES I DO.) and if we had everything we needed. They were just about to close, but they didn't rush us and treated us like old pals! I can't wait to bring my boyfriend and my family to Tom & Eddie's!
(5)Mai L.
I love food! I really do. I enjoy when someone decides to open a restaurant and get;s it right. That's where these guys come in. A little background info: Tom Dentice and Ed Rensi, both long-time McDonald's USA executives, opened Tom & Eddie's in Lombard after hosting an eight-week test restaurant at College of DuPage, where they served more than 1,100 meals in exchange for feedback on the food and service. Folks take a cue. When in Chicago is it a good idea for you to pay a visit , especially if you love burgers. This place is extremely clean. The choices are endless. The burgers are big, juicy and tasty. From the first to the last bite I could not help but to make noises, did not care that I was not alone. The staff is professional and friendly. I am going to tell you this was the best burger that I have ever had in my LIFE! Hats off to these guys.....They got it right! With their background it would be hard to not to.

This is a very OK burger joint. I came here on Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy for a late-lunch/early-dinner. You can tell they were working out the kinks, alot of people standing around watching other people work. But that's the way things start off. Pluses: LOVE ME 'DEW, I loved the spicy mayo. Specialty soda in a fountain! Lots of condiments beyond your traditional Heinz 57 Great decor The little machine that you "check in" at your table so they can find you and bring you your order - very cool! Minuses: Price point - a big expensive for the concept. The burger wasnt so amazing, I've had burgers since and remember them more than this one. The French Fries - they reminded me about those little fries you get from Steak and Shake - blah. There was nothing special about them The runner who brought our food was awesome, he checked up on us, made sure our sodas were filled and asked if we had a good time. He made this place memorable. I will be interested to see how this place fares with so many restaurants around it. Its a bit pricey for a family on a budget and not a place I'd go for an "event" meal (aka a birthday, holiday, celebration, etc).

The place was alright, wouldn't considered as "amazing" or "great" as others may say. The burgers were a bit greasy and the food wasn't worth the price, a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Recently found this place from WGN TV's Chicago's Best! We drove right over there and LOVED the cheeseburgers & haystack onions! If you're counting calories, then this place is NOT for you! They use the best ingredients... period! Like I said, not low cal but really good food. Tom & Eddie were once executives with McDonald's Corp. In fact, there is a pond named for Eddie next to the McDonald's building in Oakbrook. By the way, active duty military, police & firefighters can eat there for free, once a week! Way to go Tim & Eddie! I'll be back!

We've only been here once, but it's a clean, modern atmosphere and variety of food with healthy options. Salads, veggie burgers, diet root beer. Place your order up front and it's brought out to your table, with additional service available by pressing the button on the table. My parents raved out the sweet potato fries.

Meh plus. Being the McDonald's aficionado that I am, I was thrilled to learn that Tom & Eddie's is the brainchild of former McD's execs. Either I set my expectations a little too high, or they're still working through the glitches, but ba da ba ba baaa...I'm not lovin' it. We visited early on a Friday evening, so the restaurant was relatively empty upon our arrival. Maybe I was looking to draw parallels from the outset, but I couldn't help but feel like the decor & layout was gleaned from The Water's Edge restaurant on the McDonald's U campus. The menu is relatively simple, which I always appreciate but particularly so when being made to order at a counter - a few signature burgers, a build-your-own burger with several meat choices, some salads, a few sides and desserts. We decided on the 'Blue Chip', the 'Love Me Dew', a side of Haystack Onions and a hot dog Kid's Meal. Things headed south as soon as the food was delivered. At this point, the restaurant was really starting to fill up and there were no open tables for people to sit at once they'd ordered their food. From the moment our plates hit the table, we were constantly harangued by the staff & management - "Can I take that plate?", "Can I bring you anything else?", "Are we finished here?" We gave up and left after a busser started wiping the table down before we'd even stood up. Another McDonald's parallel, perhaps - eat and get the hell out! Service issues aside, the food is worthy of 4 stars. The burger patties themselves were overcooked, but the accoutrements were zippy, flavorful, and worked well together. The Haystack Onions were a real winner - don't miss them. The hot dog was split & grilled, which I found unusual. Our kid is a die-hard fan of the steamed Chicago dog and wouldn't touch it, bless his heart! Somewhere down the road we may give Tom & Eddie's another shot...perhaps on a Tuesday night.

Over priced burgers. The burgers are good, but not as good as you would think you would get when you get your bill.
(3)Beverly W.
My husband & I went to the Naperville location after being out for the day. I was impressed by the burger (which I never usually order meat). It was flavorful and I added mushrooms. Thought I would go back with my sister who loves burgers. I thought that I would try the grilled chicken sandwich and I built my own. Very disappointed as it was not juicy. The prices are too high to just get AN OKAY SANDWICH! The choices of soft drinks are fun and I have yet to try the shakes which look awesome. I doubt that I will go to this location again, since there are too many restaurants in that area I like. For the quality & quantity it is not worth it. I would rather go to Portillo's. At least the food is fresh and you get a lot for your money.
(3)Bridget C.
I love this place. We have two small boys, so dining out can be stressful, but something we do enjoy. Tom and Eddies is super kid friendly, the ingredients are quality, food is good, they donate money to charity, and they have beer! It is the perfect place for us when we want a night out with the kids. The manager at the Lombard location is super friendly and attentive. I really love this place!

Tom & Eddie's was better than average, but not outstanding. We split two burgers, and both were pretty good. the standout on the "Love Me 'Dew" (spicy mayo, pepperjack cheese, and peppadew peppers) was the spicy mayo, which I kind of wanted to just drink, because it was amazing. The "Bushel & A Peck" (granny smith apples, walnut butter, brie cheese, and caramelized onions) had a nice sweet/sour combo with the apples and caramelized onions. Though it was enjoyable, I'm glad we split, because I'm not sure if I would have been able to handle that particular taste for an entire burger. We weren't asked how we would like the burgers prepared, but they came out with a little pink in the middle, which we were surprised about, in a good way. The fries and sweet potato fries were average, but the large selection of condiments was pretty exciting. Other than the burgers, the highlight of Tom & Eddies has to be the soda fountain. I've never seen Boylan's Soda outside of a bottle, and I seriously got a half-chub when I saw it in their soda fountain. I would think about coming back specifically for their black cherry soda, and getting a burger as an added bonus.
(4)Elisabeth S.
Wow! The burgers here are amazing. I had the one with walnut butter, apple slices, cooked onions, and brie and all of the flavors worked perfectly with each other. I look forward to going here again! As others have said, they also have a huge selection of toppings to make your own creation. For what you get, the prices are very fair.
(5)Carri H.
The burgers are scrumptious! The only problem my partner and I had was that there was no line and we made the poor girl at the register wait while we read the entire menu. There are so many options! You choose your protein, your bun, your toppings, and condiments. I thought the toppings were a well-thought-out list- i LOVE carmelized onions. Usually, when a restaurant lets you "construct your own" it turns out more expensive than the set combinations they offer, but not here. I was really impressed that the two beers they had on tap were from Two Brothers Brewery in Warrenville. They also had a nice selection of domestic craft beers. We decided to sit outside under the bright orange umbrellas, watching the sun set and giddy shoppers bringing goods to their cars. When we were just about through enjoying burgs and crispy fries, one of the owners came to talk with us. He was down-to-earth, very proud of his restaurant, and genuinely cared about our experience there. The price is right, the atmosphere is fun- a sophisticated adult take on the excitement I remember having when I was a kid and my family went out for burgers.
(5)Patrick J.
I've had better burgers. They were very skimpy on the fries; that were very good. I paid about $12.00 for a burger, fries, and drink
(2)Jenny K.
My co-worker and I were searching for a place to eat for lunch, and noticed Tom & Eddies! Why not give it a try? We were slightly overwhelmed from looking at the vast menu choices. Eventually, I ordered the chicken capri sandwich with a side order of fries. You get a card to slip into the mechanism at the table, so the servers can find you. The sandwich didn't take too long to arrive. Presentation was nice, and the flavor was good. The place is a bit pricey; however, the quality of ingridients was pretty good. I will be returning again.

We always have a great experience when we go to Tom & Eddie's. We will go to this location and the one in Geneva and they are both excellent. The first time we went to the Lombard location Eddie came by our table and said hello! I usually do a build your out burger and it is on the money every time. I am a fan of having a fried egg on my burgers and it is perfectly cooked on every burger I have ordered. Some places seem to lack the skill to get the egg right, it is either too raw where it runs all over or it is over cooked. Not Tom & Eddie's. They never fail to please. And their cream soda is amazing. Not too sweet with no sugary after taste. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great burger experience.
(5)Patrick B.
Solid stop for a quick bite. Kinda fast foodish, but the food is very good. Better than a corner bakery.
(4)Matt Y.
Not worth the money. The burgers need a key ingredient, SALT, to give it flavor.
(2)Luke S.
I have now tried almost every burger and you have to try the Ahi Tuna! OMG it's out of this world. I know I rave about a lot of places, but I'm really really impressed!
(5)Amanda S.
Tom & Eddies was awesome! We were stating at a hotel nearby and stumbled upon this burger joint, and we're lucky we did! You can tell that they take great care to make each burger to order, and there are healthy options too. I had a build your own grilled chicken sandwich and my brother had the Ampersand, two thumbs up for each!
(4)James T.
Wonderful gourmet burger place that I wanted to try during my short stay in town based on the Yelp reviews. I had the Islander (the Ahi Tuna burger) and sweet potato fries, and highly recommend them both (although the fries may be a little salty). The wasabi and the avocado on the burger shine through, highlighting the flavorful tuna burger. Think of a spicy tuna roll, Americanized in a good way. The portions are spot on, and for the gourmet food and presentation, I think the prices are fair. They get extra points for the craft beer on tap (2 Two Brothers when I was there) and some crazy craft beers in the fridge (Moose Drool!) I went in on my birthday for a quick dinner before heading to the airport, and they gave me a complimentary ice cream and cookie dessert. This was not necessary, but just gave them extra points in my book. My dad, who is usually anti-new places, and kept asking me if I was sure I didn't want to go to a sit-down dinner place, ended up liking this place. I think that is as good an endorsement as any.
(5)Ryan W.
For a burger I'd say this place may be a bit on the pricey side (about $9 each on average), but they are also on the unique side. I had a fried egg and bacon on my burger which was excellent, and the haystack onions are a welcomed replacement to the standard fries. We did manage to get a seat when we went on a Friday night around 7PM, but I'd say we were fortunate. The place isn't necessarily lacking in seating, but there are surely a lot of people enjoying what Tom & Eddie's has to offer. So you may want to walk in with the intent that you'll be doing carry out if you're trying to have a meal during a prime time.

Let me get something out in the air. I'm not much of a mall guy and I'm not much of a mall restaurant guy. I like the low-key, hole in the wall type places that offer character and good bang for the buck. I also don't care much for lines. With that being said, when my wife said we had to go out to Bye Bye Baby, I immediately thought of the article about Tom & Eddies I had just read in the suburban Doings newspaper. I love a good burger and was very interested in the concept of a high-end burger in a relaxed atmosphere. Upon arrival at 1pm on Labor day, we were met with a line out the door. It was easy to see there were plenty of open tables inside and on the patio, so we decided to wait it out. I was willing to accept some inefficiencies during the opening couple of weeks of a restaurant. Once inside, we were met with a comfortable, modern take on a burger stand. One of the owners handed us a hand printed menu so that we could peruse all of the choices. I was impressed with the number of toppings as well as their chicken, veggie, and salad options for those not interested in a burger. The short 10 minute wait actually gave both of us enough time to construct our burgers. We ordered, made our way to the seats, and placed the number in the thingamajiggy that lets the restaurant know where we're sitting. This is a pretty cool little feature. I also like the fact that there is a service button in case we needed anything. As far as the burgers are concerned, they are just about the perfect size. Not too big and not too small and tasted good. The toppings were all fresh and very tasty and the buns were perfect, and toasty. The fries were a little on the salty side, same with the onion strings. On the plus side, both were included in the price of the burger. Also, I am a big fan of them having Boylan's soda on tap. It's a nice touch. Beer and wine is also available. I honestly don't know if there is enough to truly differentiate itself from some of the other higher-end burger chains that seem to be popping up all over the country, but I will certainly hit Tom & Eddies if I am ever in the Yorktown area again.

Ever since I heard about their Edamame burgers, I have been dying to try this place. The atmosphere is really great, chic design and their service is professional and streamlined. The staff is funny and very helpful. I went with a girlfriend and we were both in the mood for an alternative burger. I tried the Islander, Ahi Tuna burger and my girlfriend got the Edamame burger. The Ahi Tuna burger was good but the textures were off because the WonTons were a little too hard and the burger was a little overcooked. The Edamame burger was good too, however, the texture again was an issue. The burger was very mushy, if they had cooked it just a little longer I think it would have solidified better. Portion size is really great, not too big/not too small burgers and just the right amount of a side. Prices are up there for burgers but I guess that is what you get for "gourmet" burgers.

T&E was cruising towards 4-5 stars, then I went and tried to get a chocolate shake to go... We had the regular burger and the Ahi burger. Both were tasty. It was a bit surprising they didn't ask how we wanted the regular burger cooked as they are pretty thick and it came out medium. Fine for us, but just surprising. The fries are identical to McDonalds, apparently the former McD's exec's knew that recipe. The shoestring fried onions were great. Then I tried to oder a shake. They have a station on the table that says you can press the button and someone will come take your order if you want dessert or need anything. I pressed the button, and waited, and waited. Pressed it again, still nothing. After 5 minutes we decide to get in line and take it togo. So we order it and sit at the bar to wait. What we witnessed was mass confusion at the pass that made me wonder how they got anybody's order right. They were struggling to figure out which ticket went to which table and lost in the shuffle was our shake. We saw an employee put it in the blender and turn it on, then walk away for several minutes. Then another employee started making 2 more shakes. Finally there were 3 shakes sitting on the counter with separate tickets under each one waiting to be given to their rightful owners, and waiting, and waiting. I was tempted to walk behind the counter and get it myself but decided to instead just alert the kind woman behind the bar area that our we had been waiting on a to go shake for going on 10 minutes, and it was retrieved for us. It wasn't melted yet, in fact the wait probably made it drinkable. They give you a heavy duty wide straw, which is nice. The shake itself was good, but the whipped topping they put on top wasn't, and I usually like whipped topping. I don't know if it was spoiled or what, but it made the shake worse. Morale of the story? Go there and get a good, albeit $9, burger. And for the love of god, order the shake up front.
(3)Kris B.
The burger was great. I ordered the Ampersand because I'm a fan of fried eggs on burgers. It was very juicy and just tasted very high quality, I was impressed. The sweet potato fries were good as well. Nothing special though. The selection of drinks was nice. I tried a sample of everything; the cream soda, the root beers, the diet root beer. All were very good tasting. Plus they have the usual Coke products. Service was good. Everything we ordered was received. Dropping the card in the device on the table was a little weird but whatever. Now for the reason I won't be coming back so much: the food is too small (for me)! $15 for burger, fries, and drink and not being near full, I had to order a vanilla milk shake. The shake was very good, and was actually a decent size for the price. I was expecting a small glass from the amount of food I got. I also stole a piece of an Ice Cream Sandwich Trio from my friend which was awesome. All in all, I'm not a fatty who likes to stuff himself, but I am a weightlifter with a big appetite, and I expect a bit more with the price paid. Good food you guys, just won't be seeing you that often. I still want to try the hot dogs sometime.
(3)Ross O.
Really good burgers. The menu isn't huge, and that's the way I like it at a new restaurant. They're not trying all sorts of funky stuff and experimenting. They're sticking with what they know and guaranteeing that whatever you order is good. Sweet potato fries and reg fries are both great. Love that they have two different Two Brothers Brewing beers on tap.

I saw a piece about Tom & Eddies on TV, so I was pretty excited to check out one of their locations. This lonely heart decided to treat herself on Valentine's Day in 2011. The decor was pretty nice for a fast food joint. I liked that there was an area of seating that was secluded from the rest, but had a window view. Apparently, a cuddly couple agreed because they made good use of it. I went for the lean alternative to beef, since I don't eat beef. I chose the following: ~ THE ISLANDER ("Sushi-grade ground Ahi tuna burger, topped with fresh fried wontons, crushed wasabi peas, wasabi mayonnaise & Hass avocado slices on a gourmet roll"), which came with a side of ~ HAYSTACK ONIONS ("Thin cut onion slices marinated in buttermilk, fried, and seasoned with a homemade spice blend"). ~ Then, I added the SIDE SALAD ("Mixed greens, red onions, shredded carrots, tomatoes, and croutons with champagne dressing"). ~ I quenched my thirst with a fountain soda, which were a step up from the norm. In this case, it was a BOYLAN BLACK CHERRY SODA. All of the above came to a total of about $16. Since it was Valentine's Day, they had a promotion where they were giving every lady a chocolate-covered strawberry later in the day. Without any prompting, they made an exception for me. That was a nice surprise. IT WAS HUGE! Almost every staff person asked me if everything was okay too. So, the service was attentive, which is unexpected in a fast food spot. Then again, it was not bustling with people at about 1:30 p.m. Unfortunately, the food did not really live up to the hype for me. I elected not to send anything back, since I really had been too leisurely with my time that day already. Yet I found the Islander to be unappetizing. The appearance was strange to me. It looked gray. The actual taste was on the lukewarm (cold side) and I could tell the toppings were the saving grace of the seasoning. The side salad was of a good size and okay taste, but there was browning lettuce that I had to leave on the plate. The haystack onions were pretty tasty and plentiful, but I think I probably prefer thicker ones. The black cherry soda was memorably delicious. So, the soda wins. That's not usually enough for me to recommend a restaurant though. I could have gotten a better meal at a non-fast food joint for that price as well.
(2)Adam K.
The food was very good, that is a fact. I had one of their burgers and the taste was excellent. Personally I think the "humane" thing is a little bogus and everybody is doing the "organic" thing these days so that's not very novel, but Tom & Eddie's offers something a little different and that's what would bring be back there. The service was good, you order at a counter and then your food is brought to you table. I had a cup of their chicken noodle soup and it was fantastic. The atmosphere of the place is pretty laid back though I did notice a lot of kids, so if you're looking for a date spot or quiet dinner, this probably isn't the place. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars in my book was the prices. Someone else pointed out that in the Yorktown/OakBrook area, there are A LOT of choices, and this one is on the expensive side for what you get. Other than that, I really enjoyed myself.
(4)John B.
The food is overpriced for the quality. The restaurant advertising suggests it is a gourmet hamburger place and the quality is a step above McDonalds. Our experience was that the quality was not noticeably better than McDonalds, even if it offered a wider range of hamburger toppings. My daughter's shake was expensive and not better than what she has had for less at other chains. Our fries were oversalted and bland. Also, what is with cooking the burgers to medium well? The restaurant says it is done for flavor, but I'm guessing the restaurant is more concerned about food safety. In my opinion, and in my experience there, the result was a dryer less flavorful burger. The restaurant was not awful, there simply are much better options at similar prices only a mile or two away.
(2)Andy S.
Their fries are thin and crispy and awesome. All of their burgers are excellent with an extra nod to a very well prepared turkey burger. Sweet potato fries are very good too. The staff is extremely friendly and prompt. have eaten here four or five times and have had a great experience every time.
(4)Efrat A.
Great burgers and great selection of interesting toppings to choose from. Love the Ahi Tuna burger, but the Turkey and the regular burger are big favorites too. A little too pricey, but I still go there often and enjoy every bite.

So this is my first time visiting Chicago, I am from LA and I promised that I would on eat at places, that weren't available in Socal. I happened upon this resturaunt by chance because it is in walking distance from the hotel that I am staying at. Can I say yummmmmmmy. I had the me, myself and I burger, it was the first time that I had potato chips on my burger. The staff was really friendly and the atmosphere is laid back. They also have a semi-vegan menu for non-meat/poultry eaters. My friend had the edamame burger, very different but quite yummy. I so wish they had this spot in LA.
(4)Joe Z.
I had high hopes for the place, but was pretty much disappointed. The place looks nice, the menu looks pretty diverse and interesting, the people are super friendly, the drinks are unique.... The burger was boring. And overpriced. Sorry, guys, I don't get it. For ten bucks I better get a burger that blows me away and doesn't need layers of exotic things on top of it to taste good. It also should be larger than a Quarter Pounder when it arrives at my table on a fancy (plastic) plate with barely-warm side dishes. Like others have said below: you can do better than Tom and Eddie's both in quality and in value. You don't need all this technology. Really, guys, the silly table locator thing? The little survey computers? Flat screens everywhere? Five Guys is doing it lightyears better with a microphone and a box of peanuts.
(2)Christine M.
The food and service is exceptional! I am not always a fan of hamburgers, but I could eat these burgers everyday!!!!
(5)Sarah C.
Tom & Eddie's moved into Yorktown in Lombard, IL and we had been excited to try it out. This is one of those establishments where you order at the counter and have the food delivered to your table. They give you this nifty table number, which you push into a device on your table, alerting the waitstaff to just where you decided to seat yourself. The device also has a button you can push to call a server over to the table - which makes me think, why isn't this just a normal sit down restaurant? Oh well, at least I'm not paying out a tip. I ordered a chicken sandwich. I was a bit miffed at the prices ($9.99 for a chicken sandwich?) but it did come with a side (I chose the amazing sweet potato fries) and the sandwich itself had not one but two grilled chicken breasts on it. It was actually too much food, albeit good for what it is. I recommend the peach ice tea to top things off. Tom and Eddie, if you're reading this, a few notes: 1. Stretch your imagination. If you're charging $10 for a burger or sandwich, I expect the ingredients to be great (which they are) but also to be creatively put together (which they aren't). 2. Consider smaller portions. I'm more likely to come back if I pay less and get a reasonable portion. 3. Keep charming your customers. The wait staff was attentive as were the owners.
(3)Andrew H.
This was my first visit and I am instantly a fan!! The fact that they've gone lengths to use organic and locally sourced foods and natural products wherever possible puts them very high on my list. I had The Ampersand burger with their chips and a chocolate shake ... and everything was richly flavorful and delicious. The staff was super friendly and the whole place was very clean which I get picky about when I'm eating. Tom & Eddie's is definitely on my list of go-to gourmet burger places and is really a good value for the quality of ingredients.
(4)Cheryl S.
This place is awesome! About the best customer treatment I've had at any restaurant...EVER, especially for a "fast food" place. You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to your table. They constantly come around to refill your drinks and make sure you're enjoying your food-which you WILL be! I've had both the turkey burger and the Ahi tuna burger, both of which are amazing!!! If you like sushi or tuna, you absolutly have to try the Ahi tuna burger, it's unlike anything I've ever had and it's out of this world!! Great fries, too. And if you really want to splurge on calories, try the milkshakes made with Haagen Das ice cream-completely decadent, delicious, and totally worth the extra hour you're going to have to spend on the treadmill to work it off! Love this place, can we get one in Chicago, please?!?
(5)Michael W.
WOW. Pretty busy place, but well worth five minutes in line. Had the Blue Chip burger (topped with bleu cheese, avocado and some kind of insanely good sauce) and it was so awesome I had to go back and have another one a week or so later. Sweet potato fries are amazing. Great atmosphere... about ten bucks for a burger and a side. Unusual fountain drink selections/flavors are a nice change-up, too.
(5)Christine D.
ok so yeah, I'm a vegan, rating a burger joint with 1 star....but give me a chance. I saw an edamame burger on the menu online, so I called and asked if it was vegan without the cheese. I was told it was. We stopped in and let the cashier-boy know we could not have dairy. He was so kind to run in the back and make sure the eggplant sauce on the edamame burger was vegan. He came back and said it was. We placed our order and found a table. Our food came, looked great and we started to dig in. Luckily I started with my salad. We couldnt help but overhear a host speaking with the next table proudly proclaim...."everything here is cooked in beef fat and if people don't like it they shouldn't come here!" I went back up to the cashier to inquire and was told the sweet potato fries on our table were indeed fried in beef fat. I was also told there were eggs in the edamame burger....despite the fact that I went to great lengths to clarify this stuff before we ordered. I almost never go the unhealthy veggie burger/fry route but if I do i'll stick with Red Robin. They have a list of everything vegan down to every last spice in the place.

My wife and I decided to stop here instead of DMK, which is in the area approx 2-3 minutes away. We've dined here before and were impressed, but tonight that was not the case. We both had burgers with the normal dressings she added cheese, I added bacon. The first thing I noticed when I cut into my burger was how much blood ran from it. Now I know they say the burger is cooked medium well unless well done is requested, but this was medium rare. We asked for the manager, who apologized and promptly took our burgers. After 5-7 minutes he returned with two new burgers, apologized again and asked if we wanted fresh fries...we accepted. The new burgers were thoroughly cooked and tender, however mine lacked the bacon I had paid for and my wife's didn't have cheese. By this time we were dissatisfied with the whole experience and full from the milkshakes that we had, which I should add were VERY good. We left the burgers there along with the overcooked fries. Despite the politeness of the staff I don't see us returning to Tom and Eddie's...unless its a hot day and we're in need of a good milkshake.

Gourmet Burgers from 2 former McDonalds employees? You bet! Try the Ahi Burger!
(4)Kevin K.
Awesome burger with side of haystack onions. They also just expanded the menu for more choices, my wife really liked the Mongolian Mess on our last visit.
(5)Cristina T.
I had been wanting to come to Tom & Eddie's for a while, so I was ecstatic when a friend suggested it for lunch. Right when you walk in you are greeted and welcomed in. The decor is cute and trendy and the menus are easy to navigate. I settled on the edamame burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was topped with goat cheese & an eggplant spread, served on a multigrain bun. I really enjoyed the flavors of the burger since it wasn't trying to pretend to be a "real" burger. It tasted like ginger & wasabi, which were the prefect pairing with the edamame. The only minor comment I have to make about the burger was that it fell apart a little, but I am sure its hard to keep little pieces of edamame together. The sweet potato fries were great too-just crispy enough! I will be back again to try some more freshly made burgers!

2 mcdonalds execs opened this Fast casual burger joint excellent soda choices from Boyer burger so so. frie very mcdonalds like lol

4.5 Stars: What a great spot, I just love this place! What sets Tom and Eddie's apart is definitely the service; just little touches that you don't see other places. While the food is a little expensive, it is consistently delicious. I love that you can build your own burger from a wide range of fresh ingredients. I also love the Baby Bella & Swiss Burger. The Sweet Potato Fries and Chocolate Milkshakes are also AMAZING. I am also a big fan of the Zinfandel. There really is no substitute for great customer service, and this place not only delivers, they go above and beyond. Tom and Eddie's puts a smile on my face.
(4)Tyreena J.
Excellent food great service ! I will definitely be back.
(5)Gerri H.
Visited around 11 am on a weekday with my grandma. The restaurant was pretty empty, which we enjoyed. We both ordered the standard cheeseburger to ascertain whether the actual burger was good. I thought the burger was good, not the best I've ever had, but good. I actually think that Labriola down the road has a better burger for the area, but the burger additions at Tom & Eddie's are nicer. My grandma must really have liked it as she almost finished the entire thing (she's a light eater). The seating is very comfrotable, especially for a burger joint. Next time I will try the more exotic offerings.
(4)Karen W.
I love this place. It is a burger joint with a twist. Great atmosphere, great food great price. Go for the sweet potato fries!
(5)I. J.
What the heck is this garbage, why can't i give 0 stars?! Burgers were "eh" and even that is being generous. My boyfriend got the "bigger" burger 1/2lb or whatever they call it and it literally looked the same as mine but thinned out to appear larger. There were about 7 fries that came with our orders GEEEE thanks. Price was a complete joke. The place was almost completely empty yet there were a bunch of "reserved" signs on all the large booths. The guy behind the counter was on his cell phone leaning over the edge as if he was gonna take a nap. We walked out right past him and I wish he would of taken a moment to get off his personal call and ask how the meal was so I could tell him my thoughts. It was so bad save your money and go else where!

Burger was good, but not worth the money. 2 adult burgers and 1 kids burger was $28 and the 2 adults drank free tap water. Add another $4 to that if we had both ordered a cola. Fries were just okay but they need to triple the amount they give you, just so you don't feel like you were totally ripped off. The burger was good, but not worth me ever going back to considering Portillo's still better. Judging by the lack of customers there on a Friday night, I doubt the place will make it long-term. And the Wi-Fi was a pain in the rear too. Had to register with username and password to use it.

This place is amazing!!! They have interesting burgers that are SOOO delicious and their other items look really good too. My burger was perfectly cooked with blue cheese, avocado, and homemade potato chips on it with a side of sweet potato fries (YUMMMM). Our food arrived with the perfect temperature and was delicious. I can't get over how excellent the service was - they operate like they've been open for years yet they opened their doors less than a month ago. They opened the door for us as we arrived, greeted us and gave us a menu to study. Someone came by several times to see if we needed anything. The interior design is very cool and well done (yes, even the bathroom walls match the rest of the restaurant). What attention to detail! The owners were in the restaurant talking to customers which was really nice to see. I look forward to going back again and again!

Good food. Enjoyed the chicken finger sandwich. Service just okay. Long & slow line to order food. Go early because tables fill fast and the line is out the door at peak lunch times!

As a hamburgerholic, I really wanted to like this place, but really have to tell you that you can go up the street to Rockwood Tap House (former Finley's Grill Room) and get a much better burger for less $$ AND get waited on while your tush is parked in a comfy booth! Don't fall for the hype - this is strictly an overpriced mall food joint.

Went to the Yorktown location last night for a quick dinner and was really impressed. I've been craving a good tasty burger for a while and Tom & Eddie's (TE) definitely hit the spot. Me being the usual FA (fat-ass) that I am went for the Sliders Trio, just so I could try three different burgers, and I made my wife get one of their chocolate haagen-dazs milkshakes... she had a sip and I finished it (it was Anyways, I got the following burgers and all were very tasty: 1) Bushel & Peck w/ Granny Smith apple slices, TE's handmade walnut butter, melted Brie cheese & caramelized onions; 2) Love Me Dew w/ TE's signature spicy mayonnaise, melted Wisconsin Pepper Jack & Peppadew™ sweet piquanté peppers; 3) Town & Country w/ hand formed ground turkey burger, crumbled Feta, TE's roasted garlic aioli, lettuce, oven roasted tomatoes & red onions on a multi-grain roll. I can't tell you a favorite, since I liked all of them and they were all different, I'd go back for any one of them as my main burger. My wife got the Edamame Burger (veggie pattie) w/ Grilled cremini mushrooms, roasted garlic aioli, Wisconsin Swiss cheese and sliced red onions on a gourmet roll and from the speed which she finished it, I'd say she was a fan. They had sweet potato fries as a side (or a bunch of other options), and my favorite was that they had Black Cherry soda on tap (5 stars for that choice). They also have a neat little table number system, where they give you a "coded" number which you then slide into a sensor at the table, that way the server knows exactly where you are. I like "techy" stuff, so thought that was kind of cool. So, I'll be back here probably very soon.

Came here once with my father and brother. It is a more expensive burger but it is very tasty and I enjoy the trendy decor. The manager was taking the orders to the tables and he noticed the yolk of the egg for The Ampersand burger had broke during cooking and told the kitchen to cook another egg. I liked that attention to detail and the friendly service.

Tom & Eddie's has a very unique menu! There are many beef burger options and also an edamame burger, a turkey burger, and an ahi tuna burger. I enjoyed a delicious turkey burger that I customized this evening with a side of sweet potato fries. The cost was $9.79. All burgers and sandwiches come with a choice of side - fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, homemade chips, salad, soup. The sweet potato fries are some of the best I have ever had out. They are a perfect combination of sweet and salty. The menu is a bit pricey, but I thought the food justified the price. The atmosphere in the restaurant is clean and nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I will revisit again soon!
(4)Kris B.
The food was good. I had the blue chip burger and the onion strings which I split with my daughter. My only complaint would be the cost of a kids milk. I think it is crazy to charge almost the same price as a half gallon of milk. I liked that they are trying to be kid friendly with young kid toys, and a fun atmosphere. I would them again, but I am not seeing a big difference from Five Guys or the other "gourmet" burger joints springing up everywhere.
(4)Monica F.
Very good burgers, very good sweet potato fries. Been here several times and always leave pleased. My order is usually missing something but I attribute this to the young staff at the register. Other than that, I'm a fan.
(4)Tim L.
So went here for lunch and expected a lot better burger. yes they have several interesting burgers, but once we got them our table agreed that they are mcdonalds quarter pounders with some special topings on them. Except for $12. Service is good and the drinks are good, If i have to go back i would try the tuna burger cause their beef burgers are really just Quarter pounders from mcdonalds with extra topings.
(2)Doug M.
Stopped by their Yorktown location for lunch. I'm a medium rare kind of guy but this was one of the finest medium well burgers I have had. I built my own 1/2 pounder. Watch what you select to put on your burger while they're preparing it as there is a great selection of condiments at the drink and condiment bar. Had chips as my side and they were great too. They serve beer and wine! Will be back to try more burgers, especially the ahi burger!
(5)Alex C.
I had heard a lot about this place from friends and 5 of us decided to try it out. I was pretty impressed with the flavor of the food, but a bit disappointed with the price. I opted for the $1 upgrade to the 1/2 pound burger. The problem was they didn't upgrade any of the toppings with that so it just didn't have enough. I was also pretty disappointed that I witnessed 4 wrong orders, one of them being my own. Great shakes, good burgers, be prepared to put up with some of the "new place" woes.
(3)Jason B.
Went with my wife for the second time. First visit was about 6-8 months ago. The menu looks to be the same as the first time that I visited which is good as they have some creative stuff on the menu. We both had burgers which were good (store policy of cooking everything medium well does prevent the burgers from being truly great, darn food safety regulations.) The only problem is that if the restaurant is going to have a gizmo on the table that let's you call for service if you want to get something else, the staff actually needs to respond to it. That's the danger of adding an extra service, if you don't follow through, then customers get a negative impression they wouldn't have had if you didn't have the service at all. My wife and I felt like having a milkshake at the end of the meal but nobody came over for over 10-15 minutes so we started to leave. The staff was kind of standing around so that just made it more frustrating. Somebody came over as we were walking out but by then we had made up our mind to leave so it was too late. My suggestion is to lose the gizmos and people can just go back to the counter to order more stuff.
(3)Finz L.
Yummy the best burgers and onion strings ever! I was hesitant because of the price but it is well worth it and they give you more than you can eat! Juicy burgers, cheeseburger with grilled onions was perfect! And the onion strings...I haven't had them so good since Rascals closed in Naperville years ago. Give them a try, you cannot go wrong! Can't wait for Naperville to open!,
(5)Deanne D.
Very disappointed. Burgers were overcooked, nothing memorable. Better places nearby.
(2)Kolin J.
For a fast casual restaurant, Tom & Eddie's nails it. They have developed a concept that places food first while providing an inviting dining atmosphere. Tom & Eddie's also has done there part to incorporate fresh, seasonal, and organic items into there menu. The staff was very attentive and helpful throughout our entire dinner. The edamame burger fulfilled my craving for the old (beef) burgers i used to enjoy, served with a side of sweet potato fries, left me more than satisfied. I had a memorable experience and can't wait to return for another meal.
(4)Kari S.
It's our "go to" burger place! Very friendly staff and even a possibility that Tom or Eddie will stop by your table for a chat! The burgers are very tasty and filling with ingredients that aren't always considered for a burger. Favorite burger is the Ampersand...mmmm. Sadly the Lombard location doesn't have the cool Coke machine, but the pop options are still good. Birch Beer is the best. We found our new favorite mustard and even went on a scavenger hunt to find it in stores. Mustard Girl Sweet Honey Mustard. Go here. It's good.
(5)John J.
It's a high quality, modestly sized Angus burger with creative and fun toppings -- brie cheese, onion straws, a fried egg, etc.. If you get a soda and fries with the burger, you're talking a $15 meal for one person. The foodies may really like Tom & Eddies for the quality and creativity. For a person who wants a good 'ol fashioned burger, Five Guys is the answer.
(3)Tim K.
Tried Tom & Eddie's on a Friday evening. It was very busy. I had the Baby Bella and Swiss burger and my wife had the Tried & True burger. They have some bizarre order identification system which the cashier has to explain to every guest. This makes the wait in line longer than it should be. Our food arrived in just under 15 min. The burgers were OK. Cooked med-well but still a little juicy. The fries were greasy as were the haystack onions. The buns ARE NOT gourmet buns. You can buy the same thing in a package any day at Jewel. Busing was excellent. Two burgers and two soft drinks came to $23.77. For the same price, or a dollar more, the burgers at Gordon Biersch are much better. Caution: Watch out for the soft drink dispensing machine. You have to hold the glass at an awkward angle or you will get soda all over your hand. Speaking of the glasses, then are all heavily water spotted. Unappealing at best. Bottom line: If you are passing by give it a try but don't go out of your way to get there. Tom & Eddie have some fine tuning to do.
(3)Yvonne A.
Nice, casual yet elegant atmosphere but a smaller restaurant. The burgers were super juicy and flavorful. Great selection of unique toppings. The condiment bar leaves you wanting for nothing and includes different ketchups and mustards along with a wide variety of hot sauces. I also had a Gingerbread milkshake that was out of this world. I was told they use Haagen Daaz ice cream in the shakes....yum! One of the owners stopped by the table to see how we were enjoying ourselves; nice personal touch.

Big Fan of Tom & Eddie's. My co-worker and I stumbled onto it the first week it opened. We met Tom and Eddie that day and appreciated that they took a couple of minutes to work the floor. The food is excellent. Let me say that again. The food is excellent. I have had many items on the menu and love the Blue Chip Burger. Bleu Cheeese with potato chips on the burger, very good! The shakes are fantastic! I went to treat myself with a shake and my 2 year hold had about half of it. Nothing funnier than seeing a 2 year old and his dad both with brain freeze because we can't stop. I love the selection of hot sauces and seasonings you can add to your meal. I found a new one there that I bought for home. I really enjoy the burgers. It is the first place in a long time that the burgers taste like they did when I was a child. Most burgers have very little flavor, but these taste like they are fresh off the backyard Weber. The electronic table service is nice too. If you need anything, just press the call button on the table unit and a bus boy is there in minutes. Great for when you need more napkins or a side of mayo. Great food, great atmosphere. Two negatives. The sides are ok - the onion rings are not very crunchy and the size of the restaurant is too small. If you have a large group, there is no way you can find enough tables to sit together. There is always a wait to find a table, but that's not a bad thing if you are the owners. Overall, this is quickly becoming our favorite restaurant in the area.
(5)Cameron F.
One of the best burger joints in the chicago land area. Great Burgers and desserts. Highly Highly Recomended!!
(5)Brian R.
Finally a place to get a real good burger! In fact most of the other burgers at dine-in chains are miserable in comparison. The haystack onions are awesome and the fries and chips are the same, real fresh cut (not frozen). I've tried just about everything on the menu and the salads, chicken tenders, milkshakes, soups, and even hot dogs are great. The only thing that is less than great is the grilled chicken (dry, bland). Some good fountain drinks are on tap as well. The service attitude is uneven - some very friendly people, but others are not so outgoing. It's slightly overpriced but the servings are big enough to split - and you save the tip!

I went here the other night and was excited to try a new burger place. I ordered a Bella burger with aioli sauce. I really didn't like anything about it. I normally love aioli, but this tasted peculiar. Maybe instant garlic ? Not sure. But it gave the entire burger an off taste. The burger itself was a little too greasy for my tastes, and the mushrooms tasted rubbery. Fries were ok, shake pretty good. Price was way too high for quality. Won't be going back.

My best friend and I went here a few weeks back. We have a standing rule that we have to try new places we've never been to as often as possible. We decided on Tom and Eddies because I'm relatively new to the burger scene and have been spreading my proverbial burger-loving seed all around the Chicagoland area. When we first arrived, the place was looking a little on the slow side. By the time we ordered, the kitchen was really backed up, and our food took quite a long time; about 20 minutes. However, the staff was very nice and attentive and realized that they had quickly become overloaded. Also, both the store's manager and area director were working the grills - that was refreshing. Once things settled down a bit, the manager came and personally apologized; we told him we saw he was working hard. There was an older man walking passed us with a couple younger guys in tow; we were informed that the older guy was Tom of Tom and Eddies. He gave me and my friend a glass of wine - on the house! I got the Ampersand, which was to die for, and my best friend got a Build-Your-Own. All in all, by the end of the night we were quite satisfied! The reason I am giving 4 stars was because of the delayed service, but the customer care that followed made the night great.

You know what? After a few subsequent visits, it's getting its fifth star. It's just that damn good.
(5)Sarik A.
Save your money and go to McDonalds. 2 burgers and one drink...$23 and change. The regular fries are McDonalds french fries. Sweet potato fries were not bad but for those prices and being "gourmet", I expect WAY better. The overall seating in the place is just odd. Huge U-shaped booths and strange placement of 2-person tables that have a feel of being in the way or something. I will not go back here and honestly can't recommend this to anyone considering the number of places close by with decent burgers.
(1)Joan K.
Overpriced!! Tiny burger for big price.
(3)merit m.
Don't waste your time or money. Stood in line for 15 minutes at lunch time, only to spend over $10 on a very disappointing meal. At that price, I figured the burger would be huge and i would have left overs. NOT!! the burger did not even meet the edge of the bun. yes, it was tasty (had the one with the cremini mushrooms) but in addition to it being so small, the bun was cold - seemed like it came right out of a bag. I will not venture back there, not worth it at all.
(2)Always on the look-out R.
i got the bushel and a peck. the walnut butter was absolute heaven.... but i thought they were pretty chintzy on the brie (one 1" slice for the whole burger) and apples (three "half-slices" for the whole burger) and a very small portion of sweet potato fries. while it was delicious, i felt for the $8.99 there was no reason they could not have made sure that i had a taste of brie and apple for each bite of my burger. i was kind of bummed out that i was disappointed as i was looking forward to really liking this place. don't think we'll be back for the simple fact that it's not a value burger- i can get more from my money at a local pub.
(3)XTina E.
I went to T&E for the first time, Yorktown location. Burger was good, I had Tried & True. Didn't care for the sweet potato fries, however my boyfriend had regular fries which were good. A little pricey, $9-$10. They have good craft beers which I was impressed with. Nice atmosphere and outside seating. I would go again and try one of the meat alternatives such as Yin & Yang, an edamame burger! They also have a turkey and ahi tune burger. Service was great! I would recommend and try other menu items.
(3)Barry F.
Been here probably half a dozen times with my family (and sometimes extended family). This is a solid destination if you are looking for a more upscale interpretation of burgers and fries, but still keeping the family friendliness of a fast food type destination. In other words, burgers with fork and knife. The line always moves along nicely and wait times to get your order in have been reasonable. You can go as "old school" as you like with your burger, or get funkadelic with gourmet entries like eggplant spread, roasted garlic aioli, ahi tuna patties, and goat cheese. In addition to burgers, they also offer chicken sandwiches, salads, and a kids menu. Service is usually pretty punctual - they bring it out to your table. And you can also order from your table if you realize you want more, or want to order desert afterall. Sweet potato fries, as has been written previously, are awesome.
(4)d l.
You have to try this place. It's new. The food is good. Choices are plenty. And the staff there is incredibly friendly and willing to go out of their way to may your visit a success.

The gourmet burger concept is verging on overkill in the city but in the 'burbs, it has barely appeared on the radar. When I read about Tom & Eddies in my local newspaper, I was eager to try it because I love a good BYOB (build your own burger). I went there on Friday with a gal pal and immediately loved the decor and atmosphere - bright oranges and greens, modern lines and dark woods, lots of different textures. The concept is very Noodles & Company-esque, where you walk up to a counter and determine from the menu overhead what you want to order. They have a build-your-own section where you can choose the patty (veggie - edamame, turkey, ground beef, hot dog, ahi tuna or chicken), the bun, and then all the fixin's, which are plentiful. I ordered a cheeseburger with sharp cheddar, red onion, tomato, avocado and spicy mayo on sesame seed bun (Burger King anyone?). No pretzel rolls here, which is a shame - only ciabatta, sesame seed and multi-grain. My friend ordered the blue chip burger with no avocado and pepper jack swiss instead of blue cheese. We each got sweet potato fries on the side. I'm so happy that places are beginning to pick up on the sweet potato fry trend! However, they give you the equivalent to a small order of fries from McDonalds and these particular fries are nothing to write home about - which is how the burgers were as well. They were cooked to medium well (you are not asked how you want your burger cooked). Neither of us were very impressed with our meals. They were good, but not great. For people who drink soda, they have Boylan on tap, which is pretty awesome - don't know of another place in the 'burbs that offers that. Labriola, which is right down the street, still wins for best burger in the 'burbs. Even though they don't have all the condiments and toppings that Tom & Eddie's does, the pretzel bun and overall better quality of ingredients make it a much tastier option (and they cook your burger how you want it cooked). Even their fries are a knockout. Tom & Eddies is an excellent concept, expensive for what you get (my order - a burger and fries with no drink was $10.45), but the food wasn't anything special and if I want an inexpensive burger in the suburbs I'd rather go to Labriola, Alfies or even Fuddruckers over this place.
(3)P S.
Love the food and love the concept. Gourmet Burgers and sandwiches, out of this world milkshakes (the Gingerbread Milkshake made with Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream available during the Winter Holidays was just phenomenal) and malts, Boylan soft drinks (love the orange creme soda). Everything they make is with the best ingredients and prepared with style and flair. Ordering at the counter is sometimes a little slow, but well worth the wait. Told all my friends about Tom & Eddie's. Hope to see you there. You will glad you found this gem!
(5)allison d.
They have unique burgers that taste great. I had the ahi tuna and my husband had one with apples, which he raved about. Great service, unique fountain drinks. We went on a Saturday for lunch, right around noon, and didn't wait too long for our orders. The regular fries and the onion rings were both very good. We will definitely be back.
(4)Kurt K.
Wow! My first time here today and it's just amazing!! I ordered a build your own burger: regular beef with bacon, cheddar, & lettuce on a pretzel bun. It did not disappoint at all. Just amazing and very tasty! Loved it. My wife had a mushroom and Swiss burger (her favorite standard burger) on a pretzel bun and she loved it as well. I love their regular fries too. Tasted just right and perfect! Will definitely come back and try their other samplings! :-)
(5)Vishal B.
In another review I wrote that similarities dont sell, differences do. Tom and Eddies is different. A fast casual with a fresh approach to burgers and sandwiches. They seem to know how to make something familiar into something new. Like the buffalo chicken with coleslaw. Chicken Capri is great too! The only way you know is when you know.
(4)Cyn P.
My first time there and I am a happy camper... Stopped in and needs a quick bite to eat. Ordered a salad with chicken. Here is what I thought of my experience and meal. CONSIDER THIS IS A FAST FOOD PLACE FOR THE MOST PART MENU - nice options but limited choices = 4 stars PRESENTATION OF FOOD - a nice surprise with the real cutlery and plates = 5 stars GREEN attitude - love there is little waste - less for landfills - 5 stars PROGRESSIVE attitude - organic ketchup on the tables - very cool - 5 stars CLEANLINESS - very clean and tidy - 5 stars DECOR / ATMOSPHERE - 5 stars --- they even have toys for kids and books for solo diners. PRICE - decent sized salad with chicken for under $10 - = 5 stars FOOD QUALITY and TASTE = 4.5 stars - again this is FAST FOOD and my salad came with a perfectly cooked egg on top, with a sliced roll and a parmesan chip - so pretty and good! My overall is 4 stars because it's not fine dining .... but for fast food it's pretty worthy. Again - based on 1 experience ... I will be going back for more. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GOOD FOOD IN A NICE ENVIRONMENT WITH REAL CUTLERY AND PLATES AND SO MUCH LESS TRASH TO PROCESS!!!!!!!!
(4)Anthony M.
Okay we are on a roll...this is our third visit to a Tom & Eddie's location in the last few weeks but our first visit here. We happened to be in the area and remembered that there was a location nearby...luckily our GPS did not let us down. We walked in for a late lunch and service was really fast. We ordered our burger medium rare but it came out well done. I talked to the manager and he had them make us a new burger. I would like to say, "Thanks to Trevor (the manager) for making everything right with our visit here!" Customer service is so important and Trevor went out of his way to keep us as happy customers. In all of my visits to Tom & Eddies the customer is very important to them and it is this kind of attention to service which is going to make this business successful. We also learned that this location is going to start serving fresh cut french fries. That sounds so good...I love fresh fries...this is going to take them up another notch in the quality of there food. This locaiton did not have the cool 120 plus soda machine like Deerfield and Vernon Hills but that did not matter to me becaue I did not order a drink. They did have the Boylan's flavored soda's which are amazing on there own too.
(4)Allison T.
I had Tom & Eddies delivered to the beer house. It was pretty good! I just had a burger with spicy mayo and cheese. We ordered garlic fries and they weren't messing around. Very garlic-y! I'd like to go back to try it in their restaurant.
(4)Gina M.
Great place! Stopped here to grab a quick burger. The potions are just right and the food is excellent!
(5)Chris K.
Just had lunch at Tom and Eddie's. Yesterday we went to DMK Burger Bar which was a huge disappointment. So, we decided to do a burger-tour. Prices are a bit high for burger and fries. Burger was juicy, no gristle, cheese nicely melted on top, bun was toasted (and homemade), fries were good. Two Negative comments: The burger was not seasoned with salt and pepper so tasted bland, despite all the toppings. You need to season before cooking, guys. We ordered a root beer float - they brought a tall glass with a little scoop of vanilla ice cream and you chose your soft drink. When we began to sip the root beer, we noticed a wee little spoon half-way down in the float glass that I guess you were supposed to use for the foam. GUYS - get proper sized spoons for your glasses. All in all, we will return.

I frequent the Beer House across the way from tom &eddies. Beer House allows us to order from T&E and have food delivered. I really enjoy their food. Always Tastes fresh and go great with a cold craft beer!!
(4)Robert G.
I've been to this location twice. Overall, it's pretty good, but it seems a bit pricey for burgers that are lacking that... "oomph". I've had the & burger, which was good, and their mushroom and swiss, which was also good. The last time there, I also had their s'mores milkshake, which I did thoroughly enjoy, as I expected to. The sides taste good. I can't really put a finger on why I don't like this place more. I do like the free kids' toys and wall of fire sauce. I just think there's more flavor that needs to be in those burgers.
(3)Jacki A.
After walking by this place dozens of time en route to Forever 21, I finally decided to stop in and get some take out burgers. This place is great if you love a lot of choices, but it's downright horrifying for someone like me who likes everything and who wants everything on their burger but knows she can't so she has to make a decision! Yikes for me. I cannot recall what I ended up getting, probably a burger with goat cheese and tomato...typical me. I was instructed to wait at a small table nearby and it felt like I was waiting a long time but in reality, I wasn't. What confused me were the little cards they give you for your table, still unsure as to what they do...But I wasn't a sit down guest so that's probably why I wasn't really instructed on how to use them. All in all, I'll probably return when I can actually sit down and enjoy the atmosphere because it feels like a fun place.

I'm at Yorktown so much that Google thinks I work there. I might as well try to review every place I can in this fine mall. I've been to Tom & Eddie's several times, and even when they forget to put something on my ridiculously complicated (and slightly expensive because I like fancy ingredients) burger, I always have an incredibly enjoyable meal. I have a tendency to create my own burger, because they have so many of my favorite ingredients that I want to include them all. So I do. What's that you say? Turkey burgers? The best in town. These flavorful beasts of meat are loaded with juicy tasty goodness. The regular burgers are just as delicious. But the real show stopper is the toppings. You want it? They've got it. Goat cheese? Basil pesto? Grilled onions? Dried tomatoes? Flavored aioli? Smoked gouda? Other assorted cheeses and toppings? Yes. Yes. and Yes. Ciabatta buns? YUM. The service? Unbeatable. Everyone is smiling and offering assistance or suggestions. The drink machine? Totally awesome. They also have a rockin' iced tea. And I don't even like iced tea. So go. Check it out.
(5)Nicole M.
This place is inconsistent. The first time we came I remember it being really good, but this time not so much. I should have known that I would get a hockey puck when they didn't ask how we wanted it cooked. The burgers were overcooked and dry. I had to give a couple of stars for the milkshakes (they were really yummy) and the service. Unfortunately we won't be coming back.
(2)Somchai S.
Turkey burger w/ garlic aoli = DELICIOUS Sweet potato fries= totally awesome Atmosphere = very pleasant Totally a win win lunch spot. i went with my company...perhaps that why it tasted so good! But my only con is that it is more than I would want to pay for a burger from my own pocket. around $10.
(4)Tamera B.
We've had the pleasure if eating here twice and it was fabulous both times. Between the 2 visits we've tried the Dixie Chicken sandwich, build your own burger, fresh cut fries, sweet potato fries, and a chocolate shake. The chicken sandwich was AWESOME! It's fried, but not greasy. The burgers were excellent. We saw the bad reviews for the burgers, but the ones we had were really good and not greasy. I would say their burgers are better than Five Guys. The fries were really good as well. The chocolate shake was WONDERFUL! You can taste the high quality ingredients. We'll definitely be revisiting Tom & Eddies on many more occasions!
(5)Tony H.
Alright, I'm through nitpicking. Tom & Eddie's is worth every penny, hands down. The best service award of the day goes to Tom & Eddie's because the staff is so goshdarn stinkin' nice, and they're starting to recognize me, which is pretty dangerous territory to tread. The WOW moment for me happened on a recent visit with my cousin and his wife. We were waiting for his brother to show up, so we ordered for him, because he was supposedly right behind them. Half an hour later, no brother in sight, and a plate of rapidly cooling burger bliss. Tom himself stops by, pretends to sit down and nosh on the mystery diner's dinner, and then promises to re-cook my cousin's food when he actually does show up. When he did actually show up, we told tales of his tardiness, and sold him out to Tom, so that Tom would know who was responsible for the burger redux. Thanks Tom, and thanks Cousin Pat for failing to follow directions.
(5)Susan B.
My most recent visit was extremely underwhelming. I think this is due to the fact that I hyped this place up way too much. I've been wanting to try it for quite sometime but never got around to it. For starters, it isn't cheap. For 2 burgers, 1 fry and 2 soft drinks it was $25. The burgers themselves were good, just never very memorable or outstanding. I had the Baby Bella and Swiss burger and my bf had the Tried and True. Both were tasty but extremely greasy. Each time I took a bite, big globs of grease dripped onto the plate. We both split an order of fries and honestly, they were the worst fries we've ever had. They tasted old, almost like they were sitting out since 6pm (we visited around 8:30-9) but this wasn't the case. They were made fresh but they were super hard and not really hot. Guess that is just their style? Not a fan. Also, do you leave your dirty plates on the table when you leave? Do you tip someone? OHHHH, and the women's bathroom...no soap in either of the dispensers. Lovely. Unfortunately, nothing really wow'ed me, so I doubt I will be back.

So there's always 3 "burger" places that my fiancé and I refer to, Tom & Eddie's, Meatheads, and Smashburger. Sure, there's 5 Guys (I'm just not a fan) and DMK (neither of us eat red meat..and I haven't been there). Every time we go to any of the "Big 3", we always talk about which one we like best. And frankly, I'm not sure. This was the first time I've been to this location. I like it better than the Geneva location. I'm a huge fan of tall tables and chairs and even though it's a lame reason, it can sometimes make me really like a restaurant a little bit more. Anyway, the food is good. The staff are friendly and nice and deliver the food to your table even though it's not really that kind of restaurant. This time I had their "thanksgiving special" burger. Turkey burger with brie, cranberries, caramelized onions and greens with fries on the side. It was good..really good. A perfect infusion of flavors. I had 2 sips of my fiancé's pumpkin pie shake which was also good. Enough pumpkin flavor, but not overwhelmingly sweet. The only problem with Tom & Eddie's is that I always manage to get sick after eating there. I don't know if it's the oil they use or maybe it was the cheese (that's usually ok, but maybe it's just not ok here). I'm not lactose intolerant, but sometimes milk products due me in (usually when I'm out to eat..that could be a problem, too). And trust me, it's not food poisoning. That happens more like 8-16 hours after you eat something, not 45 minutes later. Overall, a good restaurant though.

I used to love you, Tom and Eddie. But you done me wrong. Folks, if you haven't heard, they took away the Bushel & A Peck. They didn't just take it off the menu, they stopped carrying each individual ingredient so, as a loyal customers and adoring fans, you can't even build your own. You want answers, I know. I want answers, too. I mean it's cheese and apples and walnut butter for God's sakes. It's not plutonium. It can't be that hard to keep in the fridge. They scorch the earth on which they stand. They stab at our hearts. Or something else equally melodramatic . And until they bring it back--my burger, OUR burger--I will take my business elsewhere. Join me brothers and sisters!

Just happened upon this place while looking for something else in this restaurant strip at the west end of Yorktown mall. It wasn't very crowded on Sunday at noon, which I guess isn't unusual. My wife and I glanced at the menu and decided to give it a shot. Wow. I had a great burger (three kinds of mushrooms, swiss, truffle aioli, and some other stuff). It may have been the best I've ever had.
(5)Colleen D.
I love a good burger. I had a regular with pepper jack onion tomato and it was pretty good. The sweet potato fries are ver good too. Lunch for two was $22 so sort of expensive ... For that price I think they should give you a choice on the meat temperature.

I really, really like this place. I saw it on TV, decided to give it a try, and I've been back three more times... and I don't live anywhere near it. The burger is outstanding, the fries are crispy and yummy, and the shakes... thick! The concept: order at the counter, get a number, find a seat, & your meal is delivered to you. The soda and seasonings are self-serve. Very nice looking place (not your typical fast-food joint) including outdoor seating. The menu has a decent variety including a "build-your-own burger" and also a kids' menu. The only thing I would suggest is that they explain the menu a little better to new customers. Now the question is: When will they open up one on the north side?
(4)Kim B.
My new favorite place! It's a clean, classy burger joint. The staff is welcoming and friendly with a high attention to detail. The food is fresh and tastes great. I had the edimame burger and loved it. My husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich and my 2 year old ate the grilled cheese. We shared some fries and everything was great. We will definitely be back and have already recommended it to friends.

KevM - High praise from a harsh critic! I don't post much, but I had to bcz this place actually exceeds the hype of its reviews; for it really shines in soo many areas (see list below) ... - nice, CLEAN and comfortable decor... - high Quality and TASTY food , with everything freshly cooked (& you can tell!)... - variety of awesome burgers and grilled chicken ... - great fries and shakes, & gourmet soda pops... - really fresh crisp lettuce on salads... - excellent customer service ... - so much variety, and all with reasonable pricing ! Been there numerous times in Deerfield and Lombard - NEVER disappointed! Kevin

Nothing special about the burger and fries. Nice place for kids.

I am conflicted. We hadn't been in in quite a while before tonight. It looks like the menus have changed, and fairly significantly. No more soup, which the husband always did like, and now there are two sizes of burgers and the sides, which I thought were included in the price before, are not any longer. It felt like it cost more than it used to. And I also am a little annoyed that we had to pay extra, basically, to swap the type of burger being used. Not sure why it is any different to build a veggie burger from the ground up with the same ingredients as the actual menu item that just has a beef patty but whatever. That said, this was one of the first times we've been in where there were no issues with our orders getting messed up or not cooked properly. The girl who took our order was very snarky but in a good way. And my food was pretty good. The Hotgarian is a darn tasty burger, to be sure. We'll be back but I feel like this spot was a bit better before. Oh and the Lombard location doesn't have the Freestyle machine for beverages, if you are going for that. They do still have the Boylan's - and the diet root beer is pretty delicious.

Tom & Eddie's is a newly-opened gourmet hamburger concept restaurant opened by two retired former McDonald's executives. Care and creativeness can be seen in all aspects of Tom & Eddie's, and we did not leave dissapointed. Since this is a new concept for everyone, having menus to read while waiting in line would be great! We snagged some take out menus that happened to be lying on the windowsill, but everyone seemed to be asking where we got them from and where more could be had! Burgers come with your choice of a side and sadly they were out of sweet potato fries, but their thinly cut Haystack Onion slices were still excellent! Besides their signature burgers, you can build your own, or order a healthier edamame or turkey burger, nice salads, or try their Hawaiian Chicago Hot Dog, which looked great on paper. We decided to split two of their signature burgers and neither disappointed: Love Me 'Dew- w/spicy chipotle mayonnaise, pepperjack cheese, and sauteed peppers (the Star! Could not put this one down!) The Bushel-and-a-Peck- w/Granny Smith apples, walnut butter, brie cheese slices and carmelized onions. (Amazingly tasty, but very rich). I'm a big fan of not having to think when I order and sit down, and Tom & Eddie's is trying out cool new table seating locators. You get a number and slide it into this futurisitic thing with slots at your table, easy enough. But then our server came by with our order looking confused, and asked if we had moved tables and made us feel bad. Not sure if I put the thing in the wrong hole or whatnot, but the restaurant has been open a week, and it's everyone's first time, right? The owners (who must be in their 70's) were out talking with customers and clearing tables. I mean, the owners are retired and they decided to open a specialty burger joint in a tough economy! They seem to have a winning formula and I would place a bet that a second location will open up within a year. Until then, I'll be knocking off the rest of Tom & Eddie's signature burgers and hot dogs and having a conversation with my doctor about Plavix.

Tom & Eddies is the first place I will go when I'm craving a good burger. Their blue cheese cream changed my life. I pair that with their sweet potato fries and they go so good together. I always opt to build my own burger, usually with tomato, pickle, and fried egg. They use very fresh ingredients and you can really tell that within the flavor of their burgers. Their peaunt butter cup milkshake is perfect. I only took off one star because their menu used to offer grilled pineapple for the burgers, but they took that off of their menu :(
(4)Sarah S.
It is not very often that I want a cheeseburger, but Tom and Eddie's can tempt me when I drive by. They have a nice selection of delicious burgers sandwiches and salads, but the milkshakes really steal the show. GET THE MILKSHAKE. They are amazing! You wait in line to order, then have a seat with your number card and wait to be served. I usually just get a regular old cheeseburger (boring, I know). It's always juicy and flavorful. I've tried a few of the more exotic flavors and they are tasty too. The food quality is really good for the price. This is not the best burger around, but considering the price and the milkshakes it is a winner in my book. They are generally pretty quick too. There is comfortable seating, with an airy and clean dining room.

I've been trying to make it to Tom & Eddie's since shortly after they opened. For one reason or another, it just wasn't happening. Then, like a stroke of magic, we ended up across the street on a Tuesday evening looking for a bite to eat. Finally! There was plenty of parking available which was a nice start. Then again, it was a Tuesday night, so that may have played a role in that perk. We walked in and I was immediately overwhelmed. I have recently started counting my calories and found that it was next to impossible for me to decide what to order. Thankfully, a regular customer walked in to pick up a carry out order. He gave us a few pointers and we were on our way. My hubby ordered The Ampersand. He chose a 1/3 pound burger that came with bacon, Gouda cheese (that he surprisingly liked), BBQ sauce and haystack onions. The gal at the counter helped me narrow down the field a bit. Once she knew I was counting calories and hadn't saved any extra for dinner, she suggested a kid's burger. 3 ounces of beef on a scaled down bun. Perfect! I had BBQ sauce on the side, an apple juicebox and some fries. Somehow we added a side salad with dressing on the side. My hubby loved his burger! He didn't finish it and our 15 y.o. son made short work of it when we got home. The fries are thin and well seasoned. I had a few and thought they were a nice treat. My kid's burger was the perfect amount of meat for me, but so dry. That's kinda how it works when you are working with such a small portion of meat though. The bun was nice. The salad was not your average green lettuce on a plate. There were a wide variety of greens, onions, chopped tomatoes and croutons. My husband really enjoyed the variety of soda at the fountain machine. I think he chose cream soda. Getting a box to wrap up our leftovers was a breeze. The restaurant was clean and I would go back in a minute. Here's my plan for next time... -Order the fruit and nut salad with chicken and eat half of it sans cheese. -Convince my dining partner to indulge in the ice cream sandwich trio and snag a bite (or two!). -Hope for nutritional info soon, so I can guess less and come here more!

My first experience at Tom & Eddie's was about 8 months ago. I came, I ate, and I didn't think it was anything special...especially since the menu items seemed so promising! Cue this evening. Since I was on babysitting duty with my nephew, I told him I would take him ANYWHERE he wanted for dinner. He said "Tom & Eddies...I want sweet potato fries and cheeseburgers!!". I secretly cringed inside. However, you can't tell an excited 7-year old "no", so off to T&E's we went. I dig the atmosphere. It's fairly classy for being a "fast food" type of place. The service is great, and I love the old fashioned sodas available. However, the food was just okay. I wasn't sure what to try. Afterall, my previous experience wasn't top notch. So here I was torn between a Tried & True burger, or the Ying & Yang (edamame) burger. In the end, my nephew and I both had cheeseburgers and sweet potato fries. The burger was okay - slightly overcooked and slightly overpriced. The fries tasted good...but sadly they were slightly on the luke warm side. I prefer my french fries crisp and piping hot!! After leaving with a raging stomach ache, and a loss of my last 25 bucks, I'm not sure if I'll give T&E's another whirl. Then again, I'll never turn down the request of one of my nephews. Perhaps next time I'll give the edamame burger a try. Hopefully that will change my opinion of T&E's. Otherwise, three strikes and you're out!
(3)Dave M.
really good food and super friendly atmosphere. it is a little more towards the pricy side but then again they do call themselves a gourmet Burger place. I work near by and eat here about 1 or 2 time's a month and never have had a messed up order or bad experience. A+ for Sure (^^)
(5)William B.
The burger competition is fierce these days, and T&E really didnt stand out to me. I tried THE AMPERSAND. While it had a lot going on w.r.t. toppings, I felt the meat was rather tasteless, and the bun was not 'gourmet', also tasteless, and barely held together. I don't think I tried the fries, as the price of the burger was higher than expected, and didn't really need them. I did like their soda offerings. Boylans. I may or may not bother to go back.
(2)Gina W.
If you want a fresh, perfectly seasoned, juicy burger look no further. Create your own or choose from their unique combinations. Fresh cut fries accompany your meal. The only reason I could not give 5 stars was on two of my visits they were quite skimpy on the grilled mushrooms for my burger and on one other occasion, they forgot them altogether.
(4)Howard L.
I tried the 1/2 lb portabello and swiss burger. I forgot to specify temperature, and it came out well done, and too much so for me. The garlic was also quite strong. OK to try, though still pricy, but I won't be having it again.
(3)Fatimah M.
So full!!! I absolutely love T & Es! Today I got the make your own, regular whole grain bun, White cheddar, garlic Aoli, BBQ sauce, ketchup, all 3 types of onions, pickles, Cole slaw and avocado (I skipped it this time, but adding the fried egg makes it even better). Some say its a little pricey, but its 100% worth it! The service also deserves recognition. The guy clearing the tables is so sweet! I'll be back soon!
(5)Judy L.
The fries, burgers and all of the topping choices are fantastic! Unfortunately the manager (?? - middle age gentleman with a button down shirt at the register) was not accommodating, friendly or aware of pricing. Bad customer service is a major turn off. The menu board states that craft brews are $3.99 and draft beers are $4.99....I think domestic bottles are $2.99. Sounded reasonable. I asked which beers are the craft brews and we were shown 6 cans. We picked the Supper Club and Modus Hoperandi and were charged $4.99. I told the manager that these were listed at $3.99 on the menu board. He said that there isn't anything he can do about it because that is the price they are in the cash register....ummm, okay. So which craft beers are $3.99 then?! He had no clue and was not willing to comp the $2 off of our bill. Our total was $29.92 for 2 burgers, 1 large sweet potato fries and 2 beers...PRETTY PRICEY FOR BAD SERVICE and a place that you order at a counter. The edamame burger was fantastic! The Love Me Dew was also a winner. Love that you can order potato chips on your burger and all kinds of other specialty toppings.
(3)Spencer B.
Gettin' a little pricey Tom. Ingredients are a little lacking Eddie. Though this is still a good place for a burger, the restaurant feels like its in a bit of a rut. The burgers do not taste quite as fresh or maybe I'm just growing critical in my old age. There was a bit of a price bump too. As an example, when they opened their Ahi tuna burger was a tiny bit charred on the outside but a bright pink on the inside, a sure sign of great caliber tuna. The tuna isn't as brightly colored anymore, which implies a less fresh fish. I reserve going below 4 stars until my next visit.
(4)Adoley J.
I am down with the gourmet burger trend. Sometimes you want a simple burger and sometimes you want a burger that's gonna knock your socks off. After hearing rave things about Tom and Eddie's I headed over for lunch with my food partner in crime. The first thing I noticed about this place was the decor and the friendliness of the staff. That is plus to me. I got the blue chip burger and my partner got the Chicken Capri. My burger was pretty good although a bit tiny and my side of fries were not enough for over 2 dollars. The chicken Capri was really delicious as the chicken was moist and flavorful. Overall a good burger place.
(3)Theresa C.
Blue Chip Burger. You won't regret it. Onion strings are tasty as well as the sweet potato fries!
(4)Dawn B.
This place is terrible. The food is not impressive and expensive for what you get. I won't be going back.
(1)Jeannie O.
If you ever visit San Diego, this place reminds me of Burger Lounge. Same set up where you walk up and order, get a number and sit anywhere you feel comfortable. They even have the same soda cups. Both are premium burgers. I had the burger with mushrooms, cheese and red onions. It was delicious but not as juicy as Burger Lounge. I didn't try the fries but had a cup of chicken noodle soup. My friend got a strawberry milkshake and it was so good. Overall, I really like it and I would come back again. Although if I had to choose, Burger Lounge wins. But this will do :)
(4)Xiaoxi L.
I was very happy with my meal. I had the chicken Capri, which is pretty simple. Chicken, roasted tomatoes, pesto, and mozzarella. I had it with the fresh cut fries. Very, very, good, though I was jealous of the build your own chicken sandwich my dude got. He had spicy chipotle mayo atop a patty with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The chicken is really big (no bun overhang here) and juicy. They charge you at the register and have a little table ID gadget they use to bring your order to you. You leave your plate at your table when done. It looks to be a family business and staff was helpful and attentive. Their drink selection didn't appear to be the widest. I got an unsweetened peach mango tea which was great. They had a variety of root beers. I want to return to try a burger next time.
(5)Boon K.
The ingredients are fresh and you can tell that take the time to make your meal. I also like the taste bar as they have spicy ketchup and all types of hot sauce. The Milkshake are great, I like the tried and true( cheeseburger) but when i am in veggie mode they have an awesome edamane burger. My hubby also like the tuna burger too.
(4)K C.
I've eaten here several times and never had a bad meal, that being said, I've never left thinking "wow that was a great burger" either. They have lots of topping choices and a few non beef burger options ( turkey and ahi tuna ), paired with sides of reg fries, sweet potato fries, or fried onion strips. The burgers are not some huge patties of meat that you can only eat half or stuff yourself just to finish. Good service and consistent food keep me coming back.
(3)G R.
I'm not sure what everyone is excited about ! You probably like this place if your wife drove you here in your Lexus 470GX, she ordered for you both while were putting the baby in a booster near a table you were about to wipe down with disinfectant wipes that you carry with you. Way over priced No seasoning on the meat... None All 'ingredients' come in little plastic cups, eg avocado, blue cheese, etc Pretty unremarkable in terms of food. Nice staff ( but messed our order for 6 people up 10 ways ), nice interior, real plates, and fast. We had high hopes... Fluke...? No... just designed for posers who think living Lombard is living in Chicago.
(2)Amy M.
My fiancé and I have been here a few times. It is a little pricey but the food is delicious. I like the option of building your own sandwich or burger. They don't really have a wide variety of sides, but the burgers are so filling you don't need a side. The very first time we went, I ordered my burger. When I received it, it was cooked medium (reddish/pink) I was comply disgusted bc I HATE meat that isn't cooked completely. I didn't know I was suppose to specify when I ordered. When the staff member came by to ask how our order was I explained to him the situation. They made me a new burger, no charge. Great customer service!
(4)Jen K.
I was a fan of this place before I even went there to eat. The menu is great, with several options for burger and sandwich lovers of all kinds! My husband and I ventured here on a Friday night. It wasn't super busy, probably because many people go to sit-down restaurants on the weekends. You walk up and order your food, then sit down and they bring it to you. They didn't have an ENDLESS amount of burgers/sandwiches to choose from, but they did have a fair amount, and this is what they specialize in. They have salads and chicken fingers, but other than that, they don't have entrees of any kind...just sandwiches. The burgers looked phenomenal (I want to go back and get the "Blue Chip" burger), but I opted for the Ahi Tuna burger. If you like the flavor of tuna and sesame together, this is the real deal. It didn't taste fake or like it was canned tuna, it was flavorful and juicy. My husband got the 3 Mushrooms burger...holy truffle. It had a very truffle-y flavor. If you like that sort of thing, this is right up your alley! He did complain that the burger was a little too greasy...I took a bite and agreed. I like greasy burgers though, so I wouldn't call it a bad thing. He just likes his burgers lean. My tuna burger was not greasy at all. It did taste like it would be healthier for you, without tasting like a "healthy" option, ya know? My hubby's sweet potato fries were just "meh." I've certainly had better. I ordered a side of the onion straws. They were very thin and fairly greasy, but I liked them. More breading than onion. It was the largest pile of a fried side I've ever seen, I couldn't even finish. They had great soda options!! Hellooooo Birch Beer! I've never seen birch beer served in a restaurant before. Not only did they have it, but it was in the fountain area, so unlimited refills were at your disposal. You didn't have to pay a stupidly expensive price for a bottle. All the brands were Boylan's, so they had rootbeer and creme soda as well. Well played, Tom & Eddie. Well played. The staff was very friendly and enthusiastic. The manager came over 3 times and asked if there was anything else we needed. It was a little much...but better than nothing, right? After eating here, we were stuffed to the gills. We walked around the mall for about 45 minutes afterwards, just to "walk it off." We didn't exactly feel refreshed or healthy afterwards...but that's to be expected when ordering burgers, fried crap, and soda. I didn't feel fat and disgusting like if I just ate at Meatheads (which I do love, don't get me wrong), but I did feel like I had majorly cheated on my diet. Whoops. In all, I would definitely go back! There are some unique options there for sandwiches, and I love the soda fountain choices. It definitely has a leg-up on Five Guys, in that you get can get some more robust options for burgers, rather than just piling on standard toppings.
(4)Dianna R.
When nothing can quench that hunger but a big, old, juicy burger, this is the place ya gotta go :) Don't get me wrong, I love Sushi, Mediterranean, Thai, and Indian food as much as the next person, but I don't think anything makes me happier than good, old fashioned comfort food. It must be that Midwestern girl in me or something. Even more so, I love places like this that take an American institution like the hamburger and turn it into something even more awesome. They even offer options for the non-red meat eaters and vegetarians, and, these are also fantastic. Seriously, both their Town and Country turkey burger and their Yin & Yang edamame burger are out of this world, and some of my personal favs on the menu. Oh, and they do make a mean milkshake here. Get one!!! You won't regret sacrificing the calories...well, at least not while you are eating it :)
(4)Abhay S.
Very average all around. I really didn't know what to expect since I hadn't read any Yelp reviews, and we had a Groupon to use. My wife mentioned the restaurant was very kid friendly, which is a huge plus in our book now. The restaurant itself does not have waiter service. It's kind of like a Panera where you order and pay at the counter, receive a number and sit down for somebody to bring you the order. The dining area itself is great - a lot of Melissa & Doug toys for the kids to play with (we opted not to because of the ongoing flu season), and ample number of high chairs. The service was great too - our food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time for the food being served and the staff visited our table and area several times during our meal to make sure everything was great. I ordered the Ampersand burger, my wife ordered a build your own, and we got some chicken fingers for our son. The food itself though was average. For our son, his meal included some apple slices, which were good in theory, except the apples were not peeled and we got what looked like a quarter of an apple cut into deli slice thin pieces. We really would have liked a peeled apple and slightly larger pieces. We also ordered fries which were average, maybe a little on the burnt side. I really didn't care for it too much. All in, our meal cost about as much as a Five Guys, and I think we'd much rather visit there than Tom & Eddie's.
(3)Kia P.
This place was just ok to me. It is way overpriced for what you get and my burger wasnt seasoned well. Save your money and go else where
(2)Tenea H.
I stopped in this Tom and Eddie's, because I was on my way to a networking event with my job. I'd heard about Tom and Eddie's many times before, how the burgers are very exotic and juicy and the milk shakes are addictive. So when I saw a Groupon for them, I jumped on it. I ordered a lamb burger and a strawberry milkshake. Verdict? Tom and Eddie's was found guilty as charged! That burger was so juicy, the sauce was fresh. Their milkshakes are thick, just how I like them. This place deserves all the great reviews they're getting, because they live up to the hype!
(5)Kristina B.
My second visit to Tom & Eddie's did not disappoint! This was my first time at the Lombard location, and the only thing that made me sad was - no coke freestyle machine! :( But it did force me to try one of the Boylan's flavored sodas - I went with the black cherry, and it was so good! I almost immediately went back for seconds. I am always blown away by their level of customer service. Everyone is very nice, and is so happy to be there. The great thing is, it's not fake at all, it's totally genuine. I went with a burger that I had already tried, the Bushel & A Peck. Nutty walnut butter, crisp apples, creamy & nutty brie cheese, and sweet caramelized onions - the textures and flavors are absolutely perfect together. Paired with the sweet potato fries, it's perfection! The BF went with the classic cheeseburger, loaded with toppings. He loved is meal as well, which is great for me, because I'll be dragging him back whenever I have a hamburger craving! Maybe one day I'll try somethiing different ;) If you haven't checked this place out yet, please do. A little pricey, but totally worth it!
(5)Gina L.
Okay, kept true to my word to give this place another shot. As soon as I walked in, again, I look for the signs specifying where the meat is from, nothing. I ask the guy taking my order, not a clue. He calls over his manager who proceeds to tell me they get their meat from Wolverine. Seriously? One thing I dislike, no detest, is dishonesty. I was written to after my initial review regarding where their meat was from and was told, in writing, Meyer Ranch. Nope folks, its not. It always seems that while a place starts out with good intentions, like Chik Fil-A, who claimed naturally raised chicken and actually serves factory farmed now, they always revert to what makes a profit, the factory farmed version, which I refuse to touch. Again, this place is nothing more than a glorified McDonalds. I will pass.
(1)Grant A.
Went tonight for dinner with my 2 kids and my wife and in laws. The food was great and the service was fantastic. My wife and I ate here just over a month ago and decided we had to come back. Food is very tasty and affordable. We have only had burgers there, but all 4 different burgers have been very good and we love their chips - crispy and delicious. We can't wait for the new Tom and Eddies to open in Naperville. Very excited!!
(5)Shin M.
I got a burger fiesta which was really good! I wish within the $7 fries would be included but it is not. Also, there were 2 cashiers. One guy rang up my two girl friends and was super friendly, asked for their names, commented on their names, and asked if they wanted to join the loyalty club. Both of my friends said no thanks. The girl I had did not ask me any questions and instead just took my order. I would have said yes to becoming a loyalty member...
(4)Jonathan E.
I'm definitely a fan of Tom and Eddie's, but I was sad to see my favorite burger was gone from the menu on my last visit. I'm probably the only one ever to order the Honey Dew burger, but still it was sooo tasty. The sauce was something special and I hope some day they bring it back. I wasn't too big of a fan of the other burger I had which the cashier thought i might like as a replacement. The haystack onions are wonderfully seasoned and delicious and I enjoy the soda they offered. I think it's Boulans. The service has always been great and I really like their story. The burger world is a tough one and I hope they continue to build a better burger. Maybe hopes for seeing a Chicago location in the future? They just leveled the McDonald's in my neighborhood... Jump on that real estate!
(4)Sarah S.
This place is a bit intimidating for newbies... I suggest you read the menu prior to attending so its easy as you stand in line to order. I ordered the Big Chip burger with haystack onions. Onions were a tad too greasy for my liking and the burger was a solid good, but under done which is rarely a problem for me, but just pointing it out. The garlic mayo that was on the burger was very muted and that was a tad disappointing. I had to jazz it up from the condiment bar which I loved. They have kids toys which if you have kids could be helpful.. they also have a little outside area to eat which is nice if the weather permits. decor is clean and modern.... bathrooms were GREAT :) I would go back if I was in the area and possibly build my own
(3)Stacey C.
MadDog & I absolutely love the burgers here. The menu changes sometimes, but our favorite burgers are always there. MadDog loves the Ampersand and I'm a Tried & True lover. The burgers are always juicy and fresh tasting. The new potato chips are addictive (try dipping them in the bbq sauce...yum) and we love that they have Boylan's birch beer. It's not a cheap burger joint, but it's always been worth it. Since it's in close proximity to the mall, it can get crowded during peak times but the staff has always been super nice at this location. They're opening one up in Naperville, so we'll have to give that one a try soon.

The burger: Giving Tom & Eddie's 5 stars simply because of the awesome turkey burger I had last night. I mean...the flavor, the juiciness, and the overall burger was absolutely delicious. I built my own with just ketchup, mustard, mayo, and pepper jack cheese. When I go back I'll have the pre-made turkey burger they make to see how that combo matches up (garlic aioli, red onion, etc.). I am sure it is out of this world. The atmosphere: The restaurant is stupid small! After we placed our order at the counter we walked a lap around the restaurant (which took 6 seconds) and finally spotted a table over by a window. Whew...otherwise where would we have sat to eat? That's a problem so I think we will get carryout the next times that we go. Also, liked the quirky addition that the other reviewers mentioned: the little gadget that you put your table number in so that the wait staff know where to bring your food. The soda: Mmmmmm....cream soda. The fries: Tried the sweet potato fries and the regular ones. Meh...not too great. I'll have to try the haystack of onions straws next time because one was attached to the underside of my burger (!) and it was really good, haha. Overall, I am satisfied with the experience that I had and I will definetly be back...for carryout!

This is a great burger place, probably a micro step below Five Guys, but still very fun and fast casual cuisine. The burger I had was outstanding with an egg and onions on top. My parents and I were looking for a quick bite to eat at Yorktown after Thanksgiving and a burger seemed like just the ticket! Tom & Eddie's had a great selection of sandwiches and sides, while I chose to build my own burger. I would definitely stop in here again, because we all know about my love for burgers!!!

Was on our way somewhere else and for some reason we just decided to check this place out not knowing what to expect. Initial reaction was the place was super clean, almost like a crisp feeling when you walked in. I noticed that had books and toys to keep our one year old entertained. There are many things to choose from, I knew I wanted a burger, even though the salads, the sloppy joe's looked intiching, I kept with what I wanted and ordered the classic burger, with onion, lettuce, tomato pickles, ketchup and mustard. Our food was served pretty fast and it was so good! We have been to many burger places and I have to say, I loved the flavor of this burger. Way better than some other places I have been to. Just the regular bun that they gave me was so soft and delicious! I would highly recommend this place to anyone and we will be returning customers. My husband got a vanilla shake and I thought it was one of the best vanilla shakes I had in a long.

It takes a lot for me to give one star (I've only done it once before.) I don't understand why so many people like this place! I went and had three main problems with my experience... 1. Burgers only made "juicy medium well"??? The obvious contradiction in that statement made me really worried at the ordering counter. I was saddened to see my burger cooked to super grey. My daughters kid's burger however had the pink center I desired...why do you ask? Me thinks it's because the adult burger was PERFECTLY ROUND and there's only one reason for that... Also, if you're going to overcook a burger for safety, overcook the kids burger! 2. Could you pack MORE seats into your very tiny dining area?? I HATE this! So there's no traditional waiter...does that make it ok to force us to sit on top of eachother?? BTW, I have the same issue with many restaurants that add extra tables on Valentine's Day just to maximize $$$ while sacrificing dining experience. 3. Most Important...there is no way anyone should EVER pay $10 for one of these burgers and $6 for a kids burger. It was simply the worst kids burger I'd ever seen. SOOOO SMALL. I actually took a photo with my camera phone and will try to upload it here. Apparently two McDonalds execs own this establishment. The kid's burger was literally HALF the size of a McDonalds single cheeseburger. The adult burgers are in no way worth $10. My husband and I both ordered the Ampersand, both came our lukeward....ummmm warming light much...and both uber well done. In all, I mistakenly thought this was a higher end "burger boutique" when it's really just slightly better McDonalds food. High end fast food. There are many restaurants that offer FAR BETTER BURGERS FOR $10. My favorite $10 burger remains at Cooper's Hawk Winery in Burr Ridge but there are so many others...even in the Yorktown shopping area itself! Rock Bottom Brewery.....Claim Jumper... Seriously, put your the $13 you would have spent at Tom & Eddie's back in your pocket and drive somewhere else.

I mean, who doesn't love a little T & E? Between the veggie burgers followed up with coconut macadamia and chocolate chunk cookies, the humble staff, the to.die.for milkshakes, and the cute story behind the restaurant, I couldn't help but fall in love with Tom & Eddie's. I was among the lucky few who got to try out Tom & Eddie's in their test kitchen at COD last Summer. I remember leaving and being so excited about having a great veggie burger option so close by... especially since it isn't your standard tofu or mixed veggies and peas burger. This one's different... better. It's made of edamame and I love to put low sodium soy sauce on it with a zig zag of sriracha and then I douse my fries in malt vinegar and shake sea salt to my tastes. I'm a build your own kind of gal, I guess. In all honesty, I could probably give T&E's 4 stars and it'd still be fair since the ordering system and menus can be a little confusing on your first visit and I still have a few questions about tipping, but the service here is spectacular (I saw a super friendly employee get major 'tude from some lame-o lady who just wanted to take her bad day out on someone and he was oh so polite in dealing her, even though she didn't deserve his kindness) and the owners seem sweet as pie and genuinely concerned in what their customers want and have to say. Plus, I love this as an option for not only dine in, but take out and not just dinner, but dessert, and I hope they stick around for a looong while.

My parents and I went here on a Friday night. None of us were particularly impressed. The decor is nice, and the cashier was very nice and friendly. My mom built her own burger, which turned out to be the best idea because the they don't prompt you for extra toppings if you get a signature burger. They also don't ask how well you want your burger done, so I assume they just do one temperature. I had the Love Me Dew burger and it was very sparse - just meat, cheese, a little bland sauce and a bun. The patty itself was good, but no better than any comparable burger joint. Compared to Smash Burger, 5 Guys, or Meatheads, I'd take any of the three over Tom & Eddies. Smash Burger is the best of those four, IMO, but I'm still looking. Fries were average. A few fun soda flavors. The big disappointment was when I asked for a Resee's shake and was told they were out. How do you run out of a candy that's available at any drug store, and surely in good supply at the mall in the same parking lot? Overall experience...meh.

Nice atmosphere. Modern design but still a walk-up-and-order fast food restaurant. I had the Bushel and a Peck burger which sounded very promising from other Yelpers. A grass-fed beef burger topped with housemade walnut butter, granny smith apples, and a slice of brie. Some report that there are caramelized onions. Either they forgot to add them to mine, or the onions were just... forgettable. At any rate, the idea was great, but the execution was very poor. First off, I have to agree with other Yelpers who noticed that Tom&Eddies overcooks their burgers. Mine was horribly dry. Granted I flirt with danger and like mine medium, but this was the dry end of medium well. Secondly, the toppings were in conflict. It was a love triangle between the walnut butter, apple and brie. The butter and apples were amazing together. And from past experience I know that apple and brie is quite nice. But the apple was being pulled in two different directions, and it didn't work for me. The service was poor. Despite the modern wireless numbering system, we constantly saw the staff walking around with lost orders. And when I ordered a shake after the meal, it never came. Never. I had to go back up and order it again. Add to this the high price (for what you get) and I don't think I'd go back. The only redeeming factor was the local brewery craft beer on tap. Tom and Eddie, keep on serving Two Brothers!
(2)Tracy L.
offer 1/3lb and 1/2lb burger patty! had the ampersand and sweet potato fries bf got spicy hot dog, and we split the chocolate shake all delish! I wanted to get a cookie but I already knew I had diabetes after the shake haha! Definitely will come back. ps. they give you a table number, you slide it into a check-in at your table so they know where you're sitting! pretty cool idea! no way your order will go to a different table on accident!
(4)Tim L.
Inconstant. My burger was very well done, but seemed to be room temperature by the time it got to the table. My daughter's was medium rare if not rare. I wish it had been the other way around. The apple slice side was less than 1/8th of an apple. My potato chips were smashed with hammer after cooking. No piece was bigger than 1/2 inch in size. My wife's sweet potato fries had two or three that were sweet potatoes, the rest were regular potatoes and very cold.

This update makes me so, so sad to write, but having gone to T&E's about once per week for just under a year (yay Silver Spatula!), the hubs and I have slowly watched the place go down the tubes. The food is still very good, so if you want a good burger and fantastic fries, totally still eat here. But if you care about the rest of it -- the decor, the employees, etc. -- know that this T&E's has significantly declined in quality. The current managers here are mostly middle-aged, grumpy males who don't tend to smile very often, and the rest of the employees (with a few exceptions like the Latino guy that clears the tables and this cute short girl with light hair who is the only person that remembers us from week to week and genuinely acts happy to see us) don't work very hard (e.g. we watch tables sit un-cleared for the length of time we're there which is waaay too long -- unless that awesome Latino guy is there in which case they're cleared instantly) and don't seem very interested in helping you. They seem to make silly mistakes with our orders almost every week (not putting things on the side, or forgetting to add the extras we asked for), which is a small thing but is kind of annoying when it happens on a regular basis. They used to have some awesome managers, cashiers, etc., but they seem to have all gone. Quit? Moved to a new location? Promoted and transferred? Who knows, but they definitely don't work here anymore. They also recently made some updates that just aren't changes I would have made -- fewer high top tables, less seating near the windows, a far less fun-looking menu (it looks ridiculously plain and stodgy now), stopped serving soup (even though it's still on the menu), etc. Maybe I'm just being picky, but these were all things that contributed to the place's character and are slowly but surely becoming more bland. So bottom line? We used to come here often b/c we loved the food AND had an overall awesome experience EVERY time. Now? The food is still pretty good, but it has lost that spark that made it stand out above other places for us. Sorry T&E's, but once our spatula runs out, I think we'll have to say our good-byes -- you're just not worth the trek out to the suburbs anymore.

I debated and debated with myself about giving a 4 or 5 star rating. Boylan's soda on tap was a solid surprise and a welcomed change from typical Pepsi and Coke fountains. However, Tom & Eddies is a highly priced for a burger joint! I would definitely go back. The burger has a crunch and the meat if flavorful. I very much enjoyed every bite. This is quality. You will wait in line and spend a few extra minutes sitting at your table. Note: Please pay attention when they show you how to use the order card for your table. It is strangely not simple. Anyway, the bun to burger ratio is perfect. The fries are fresh cut and perfectly salted and remind you of great carnival fries from that place that only comes in town once a year for the Municipal Fourth of July celebration. Crisp and delicious is the best way to describe the fries. I filled up on Boylan's for a third time and left with a smile on my face.

I had seen this space at Yorktown "plaza" as I like to call it. I think the area is really called "Shops on Butterfield" but I like to nickname things all the time. I'm quite impressed as to how this area has been upgraded, nice restaurants, specialty stores, brick paths to walk--careful, parts of that is really a "street" where cars can drive. Tom & Eddie's story is described well in other reviews. Former McDonald's execs that ventured out on their own to create a different burger experience. And a delicious experience I might add. For a burger place, the menu is quite extensive, between the specialty burgers and the create-your-own burgers. After placing your order at the counter, you can find a seat in the restaurant. I do like the "Jetson's" style metal box thing-y at each table where you slide in your order number card, that way the servers know where you're sitting to deliver your order. Service was very friendly and checked on us quite a bit (even without us having to press the "service" button on that metal box thing-y) My aunt and I shared the Islander--Sushi grade ground Ahi Tuna, (grilled) topped with fresh won tons, sliced avocado, crushed wasabi peas and wasabi mayo. This was amazing. If you like spicy tuna rolls, you'll like this burger. It was so fresh and every bite was flavorful. Very good quality tuna and the wasabi added a hint of zing. I'll admit, it was kind of weird to think of sushi when I tasted the tuna burger. But as an alternative to beef, this was quite nice. We also split the Ampersand--100% Angus beef patty, topped with Nueske applewood smoked bacon, Wisconsin smoked Gouda cheese, smoky BBQ sauce and haystack fried onions. I opted to have them omit the fried egg just because it seemed a little overwhelming already. This burger was also delicious. The beef, smokiness of the bacon and tang of the BBQ sauce went very well together. Flavorful in every bite. Another winner. The sides of sweet potato fries and haystack onions were very good--and quite a hefty serving. The only thing that seemed off to me was the bun itself. It seemed a little too soft for that kind of burger. So after a few bites, it got kind of "mushed". I've also come to love having my buns grilled (oh that sounds lovely). Yeah my HAMBURGER buns grilled or warmed when the burgers are put together--to me it makes a big difference. They do offer mulit-grain ciabatta vs sesame seed buns as a choice so maybe I'll try that next time. There will be a next time for sure! I think this would be a perfect stop for a bite to eat before heading to the AMC theaters around the way.

Had the "Love me 'Dew" and it was great. The burger itself was great and ell cooked but what really sold it was the mayo and peppers. Amazing flavour.

Great Location! Right outside of Yorktown mall but not connected. Ampersand and sweet potato fries - Great burger! Love the bacon! I'd get these fries over any other. Baby Bella & Swiss and haystack onions - MMM i LOVE the garlic aioli! I wish the haystack onions were a bit bigger like onion rings. Black Cherry Soda - great selection of soda! this was by far my fav Great customer service! Very helpful and attentive! I only knocked one star off because it is a bit pricey. $10 for burger and fries? The servings are just right but for $10 I expect to be stuffed beyond belief.

FINALLY. My search for the perfect (suburban) burger is OVER. After trying out what feels like a million places, my husband and I were BOTH satisfied after a trip to Tom & Eddie's. I assure you, this is hard to achieve. Let's start with the burgers. You start out with thick, juicy, and delicious hand-formed patties that are either 1/3 or 1/2 lb. of pure meaty bliss. Then come the add ons. My husband had a regular old classic burger (read: boring) and loved it. My burger though...oh man, it was awesome. I built my own (since I feel like I am a burger inventor extraordinaire) and piled on pepperjack and blue cheese (although there is goat and brie too! *swoon*), spicy mayo (again, super hard to decide between that and the wasabi mayo or the garlic aioli), pickles, and bacon. I was a little disappointed that there was no buffalo sauce or jalapenos to make it spicier and then I saw it: THE TOWER OF TASTE. This is how they have me (and my man) for life. On this magical tower, there are a million condiments. I personally freaked out when I saw sriracha, Tabasco ketchup, AND creamy buffalo sauce. The man was happy that he was not forced into "fancy condiments" (I'm looking at you, DMK) and I was happy to have a lot of spice and fancy stuff to choose from. The fries and sweet potato fries were good too. The only complaint(s) I have is that there are no pretzel buns and we were not charged for our haystack onions and thus they were forgotten, but if I wanted them that badly I would have just ordered them again. Problem solved. The drinks also made me happy. Quite a few craft beers for a snob like me to choose from (including some local Two Brothers on tap), wine, and a fountain machine with all kinds of T&E specialty non-alcoholic brews (root beer, birch beer, cream soda...). The shakes and malts are delicious too. Tom and Eddie's, I love you, man. I'd love you even more if you would hook up the pretzel buns in the future.

Finally I got to go to Tom & Eddies after months of anticipation. Not bad. It's like ordering at McD's with the added little bonus of getting your food delivered to your table. I was kind of rushed to order so I didn't see half the menu, I ended up getting a regular cheeseburger. To wash down my meal I got black cherry soda but they have other choices like root beer, cream soda, or regular pop. The place is small so good luck trying to find seating after you order. I overheard a convo between a customer and the owner, and the owner was telling them that they were trying to buy out the property next to them so they can expand. That would be very helpful and probably bring in more business. If you're looking for something fast but not TOO fast food-ish, this is the place.

I went here for an after work dinner with a friend. ehhh.... I know overpriced burger places are all of the rage these days, but I wasnt that impressed. However, I was impressed with the choice of sweet potatoe fries and drinking a glass of wine with my burger outside on a pleasant Summer evening.

Hamburgers. Those mainstays of Americana are moving up the food chain and this new restaurant does them really well. Of course- that's not surprising when you know who the namesakes are who created this concept. "Tom" is Tom Dentice- a former McDonald's executive vice president, who is partnered with "Eddie", Ed Rensi who was the CEO and President of McDonald's USA, for 13 years back in the mid 80's and 90's. I guess the notion of "ketchup in the veins" of most McDonald's people is true if these guys came back to start up a hamburger chain in one of the worst economies ever! The concept is quite nice. You place your order at the counter after waiting in a serpentine line. You are handed a plastic card that you are told to insert into a device on your table. This notifies the staff where you are sitting so that they can bring your food to you. We took a seat in a comfy booth and waited to see how long this would take. Within 11 minutes, our food was served on real plates right to our table. If you want real forks, knives, napkins- you have to pick them up yourself from the beverage bar which houses not only a drink fountain with Coke products on one side- but they have Boylan's soda on the other (root beer, cream soda, etc) They also have about 20 different types of sauces that you can spice your burger up with like Tabasco, chili sauce, etc. They have several "reciped" burgers (those that come with toppings already picked for you) like the "Tried and True" (a Lettuce and tomato burger with all the expected condiments) the "Blue Chip" Burger (a burger topped with Haas avocado, blue cheese and aioli sauce, and the "Ampersand" (which I think had an egg, BBQ sauce and onion chips on it) Or if you want to customize your burger- they have a listing of toppings so you can build your own. We went with three of the reciped burgers (those noted above) and these burgers were delicious. Perfectly prepared, juicy served on a soft roll. Just the way I would make it myself. The fries are thin- with the skin on- good- but will never compare to McDonald's fries. Sorry- Ed. And other sides include sweet potato fries or potato chips. As we were finishing our meal- we needed to take something back for another person at the office so we thought we would try the "Service" button that is on the gizmo on the table. We pushed it. And within 2 minutes a server was at the table asking what we wanted (it turns out it's a paging system and the staff and management wear pagers that alert them to what table needs help). We placed our order and were told to pick it up at the front counter. Here's a tip- that button- can be great for moms too - for if you forgot something- no need to wait back in line and leave the kids-push the button and someone will get it for you. Or use it to order dessert (root beer shake anyone?) The ambiance is a cross between a fast food restaurant and bar. There are high top tables, booths and even comfy chairs pulled up around a fireplace in one room. Want to sit outside? There are at least 10 tables out there. And speaking of details- they even have big orange umbrellas by the door in case it starts to rain. The only hiccup that we had during our visit was in trying to pick up the additional food we ordered. I went back to the counter and was told I had to wait in the serpentine line yet again. I did- but when I got to the counter- the counter person said he didn't know anything. Then my food came up and he said he couldn't ring that up on his register. So I had to wait until the other counter person was ready. This all took about 15 more minutes than I would have liked. I'm sure this is just a growing pain and can easily be rectified for future visits. (I wonder how they pay for those desserts they suggestive sell?) Might be a good idea to have the servers have credit card swipe machines so that they can just bring the food to you and have you pay at the same time. Just an idea, Ed! Burgers run about $10 each and include a side. Drinks are extra (they even have beer and wine). And parking is free (hey- it's the suburbs and this is located at Yorktown Mall) The funny thing? As I looked around on the day that I was there- half of the seats had to be filled with McDonald's executives. Hmm . . .wishing Tom and Ed well on their new venture? Or checking out some new competition? My guess?? A little of both!

OK So today I felt the urge to eat. And I mean really eat. Something yummy needed to be located, attacked, and devoured. So after gassing up my car I headed to Tom & Eddie's across the street from where I work. They're what I call a contemporary, fast-casual burger joint. Very a la California. It's great going here because they have an Ahi burger (Islander) which is spectacularly spicy and very Pan-Asian. I loved it last time I came. Plus they have spectacular meat burgers and other stuff like salads and milkshakes. Check out their menu. Their expertise in these fantastic, specialty meaty dishes makes walking in a sexy-dangerous line to walk if you're a pescatarian like me. Yes. Good food is sexy! om nom nom Today I opted to make my own burger, by selecting the Ahi Tuna, pepper jack, spicy mayo, fried onions on ciabatta with a side of french fries. The spicy mayo is oh-so-perfect with the onions. Oh, and their seasonal pumpkin pie shake. To.Die.For. It's also perfect to drown out any fire the spiciness in your selected entree might light up in yer taste buds. BONUS: Their takeaway box is biodegradable, which is AWESOME. Yep that's about a whole week and a half worth of calories. But I earned it!
(4)Connie B.
The Ampersand Burger is fantastic!! Gouda cheese, bacon, a fried egg, bbq sauce and fried onions....awesome combo! Juicy, delicious burger. And the staff is great there too.
(5)Dan K.
The burgers here are awesome. It's a little bit on the pricey side, but it's worth it. The chips are good and lightly salted with sea salt. Their words, not mine, but I believe it. Boylan's soda on fountain is pretty awesome. Root beer, birch beer, orange, cream sodas. Also have the typical coke/sprite etc for those who prefer that. I didn't try the shakes though they had the pumpkin pie shake. It also has veggie options, like an edamame burger. They have a nice little pager system, where you put the tag you receive upon ordering in a little contraption on the table. So they know what table you're at. No more having to wave someone down to get your food. The line moves fast even at lunch although seating can be hard to find. Good stuff!
(5)Scotch E.
A great value. Maybe the best value in the area. The food is very good prices and the prices are unbelievably cheap. The burgers are unique and always delicious we typically do the blue cheese burger and the edamame burger. It sounds weird but its actually really good.
(4)Kay B.
I'm giving this place only two stars because I hate when a place known for burgers and fries can't even cook fries correctly. My fries were way over-cooked and had no flavor. I kept adding salt to no avail, I finally had to douse them in good ole ketchup. It irks me that I paid 11 bucks for a burger and fries in which the fries were that awful! The burger was okay, but honestly not anything to write home about. This place is a little too pretentious than it has any right to be for the food they offer.
(2)Praveen P.
One of the best veggie Edamame burger I have tasted. The place looks very good and quick service. Only negative I can think of is they don't have Nutrition Facts any where!! Over all it's a good burger place!
(4)Yvonne O.
I like the food, not the place itself. The whole process of standing in line behind people who need to order slower than molasses pours is always aggravating, then, trying to find a table on your own, while some are obviously finished eating and just hanging-out (one guy had a four seater to himself with no food or drink left, just typing on his laptop) is an added aggravation. We ended-up having to eat at the counter and wondered why we waited in the line when you can apparently sit at the counter and press a button and order. For people who came from McDonald's executive jobs, there is nothing "fast" about the service here. Husband thought the burger and the fries were great here. I got the spicy burger (the one with spicy mayo and peppers and pepperjack) and sweet potato fries and thought everything was good, but the burger was a little too greasy for my taste. I also liked that they had condiments you could take to your table, so I was able to mix a siracha mayo on my own to dip my fries in - that gave them an extra star in this review that otherwise would have been two.
(3)J T.
I'm your typical meat loving guy and I love burgers. These burgers are not what you would expect from a fast food joint. It's probably one of the best I have ever had from anywhere. I also had a peanut butter and chocolate shake that was much better than I thought it would be. The stuff is extremely friendly, which is always a plus.

We had a great experience at Tom & Eddies yesterday. We went during the off-hours at 1:40pm on a Wednesday so we did not have to contend with any types of crowds. The restaurant is small but attractive. No doubt they will need to expand to the storefront next door. I was struck by the really comfortable chairs. Usually at these types of restaurants the chairs are hard wood but at Tom & Eddies, the chair seats are a really soft comfy seat. The burgers were sooooo good. I had the haystack onion rings. They were sliced very, very thin and were very spicy due to the black pepper seasoning on them. The service was very attentive. I didn't notice that we were supposed to pick up our own silverware near the beverages but the server went and got some for us. I liked Tom & Eddies so much that before we left I purchased a $35.00 gift certificate to give as a Christmas gift this year.
(5)Danny Y.
Wanted to try something new and landed at T&Es for lunch. I ordered the Ampersand because I'm a fan of BBQ burgers, and my wife had the Holy Hot Dog... or do they call it the Holy Dog. We also ordered a side of onion rings, which was quite unnecessary because it's part of both the burger and the hot dog... wish they would've told us that while ordering! The burger turned out pretty good... tastes like a slightly healthier version of the burger I usually get at 5-guys. Actually, the buns taste near identical to 5-guys. Verdict: It's like 5-guys minus the fast-food decor. Nice place to sit down and enjoy your heart-attack burger slow.

Tom and Eddie's is close to home and a great option for weeknight or weekend take out when you're in a pinch and are craving some comfort food! Or sit down and enjoy a meal during your trip to Yorktown Mall. My husband and I are big fans of this burger joint. I'm embarrassed to say how many times we've picked up food to enjoy at home--let's just say we're getting a lot of mileage out of the loyalty program. The food is great. I'm especially partial to the turkey burger (seems less greasy/fatty than the regular hamburger), and my husband and I both love the "haystack onions" on top of the burger and the unique gourmet sauces like garlic aioli, basil pesto and spicy ketchup that put a novel spin on the typical burger. I'm picky too, so I especially like the ability to customize your burger via the "create your own" option and come up with a seemingly endless amount of options. Last but not least -- the customer service is truly exceptional. There's a great group of folks here and we really appreciate their friendliness and accommodation.
(4)Nick S.
Well that's pretty gross. One of your cooks wiped sweat off his face with his hands and plated the food. Fortunately it wasn't mine.....sorry whoever ate last night around 7 and 8. Too bad that the kitchen is exposed. Because I'm not sure I want to eat here anymore. There was a woman cooking in the kitchen without a hat and hair pulled back. You think your hair can't easily fall into the food while you expedite it? Well from my last experience, my food was sent out TWICE with plastic fiber bristles in my chips.
(2)michael r.
Big fan of the food(great fries!) But even more so of management. Very friendly and proactive. They always come by to make sure everything is ok and offer a nice greeting/goodbye on the way out. We were even given some comp coupons when the kitchen got backed up when honestly we didn't even think it had been that long nor had we complained. This is one of our go-to spots when we are in the area and need a quick bite.
(4)Katherine B.
So good! I love all of the different choice burgers they have and the environment is nice.

Ive been noticing more specialty burger joints pop up in my area, so I decided to finally check this one out. The menu here is fairly concise, about 8 meat options, some non-meat and then the usual sides and desserts. I think i ordered the blue chip burger, 1/3lb. The meat and ingredients are high quality, minimal grease and overall the burger was very tasty. If you don't order fries i'd recommend upping to the 1/2lb, The 1/3lb didn't fill me up. Not much else i can say, interior was clean and spacious, nice decor. There is a very cool wall of sauces/condiments that you can use for customizing your burger to your taste buds. This includes unique stuff like Sriracha and MANY more. Other than that, i'm definitely game to come back and try out some other recipes.

So weak. I was leery of all the tepid reviews discussing the price point of their burgers on here. I'm generally ok with a $9+ burger if it's good. I totally get the gourmet burger trend and am on-board. This, however, is not a gourmet burger. It's highly average and their price point knocks them below average. Went with the wife and kids for dinner. Wife ordered the standard burger, nothing fancy, patty and cheese with the classic toppings and a side salad ($9.50). Burger, while tasty, was smallish and nothing special. Salad, while better than your average iceberg side, was just a salad. They go way off the rails with the kids meals. Ordered the junior burger and sweet potato fries for one kid (4yo), and the chicken tenders for the other (2yo). The burger was seriously the size of a slider, maybe smaller. We split it between the two kids, my older wolfed down his half and grabbed the other half off his brother's plate and ate it in two bites. The tenders, while above average in quality (not the typical frozen ones), were small. Three tenders that amounted to roughly 1/2 of an average chicken breast. The sides were pathetic. Sweet potato fries that were not better than what you can defrost and bake in the oven at home and paper thin, brown, apple slices that was probably less than 1/4 of an apple. Like everything else, the kids meal were expensive for what you got and the quality was meh. I promised the boys some milkshakes, so instead of giving T&E's more of my money, I drove them through Steak and Shake...where my 4yo asked if he could also have another hamburger.

Customer service a 10/10. Very friendly people. Amazing food, worth it 100%.

Pricey joint...more expensive than a sit down restaurant...tastey though! I saw the manager making food with his bare hands..no gloves.grabbing fries and buns...not sanitary at all!!

Love this place. The staff is very friendly and the food is outstanding. I'm not really a salad type of girl but I love their salad choices. I usally get a fried chicken ceaser salad with fried egg. It's crazy good - It can be a little expensive for this type of food - $10-$15 per plate (a salad and pop) but .. its a great place.

With all of the fast casual burger chains that have popped up lately, this one really stands out to me. The ampersand burger is a great combo of flavors, and everything on the menu is highly customizable. The fries are really good as well, and they have all sorts of fun condiments to try. They have organic Heinz ketchup, and other flavors including spicy ketchup (I wanted to love it, but actually didn't like it.) The pop dispenser has typical flavors, but also some fun craft sodas. I'll definitely continue to come back to Tom & Eddie's when I'm in the area!

I had the veggie burger - why, I don't know.... it was average. Needed more flavor -- it was edaname and lacking in the zing department. The sweet potato fries were slightly better than average. Good but have had better. My husband had a burger and said it was average. He said his first clue was they don't ask you how you want your burger cooked. Better than all other fast foods but not better than other speciality burger places.... would try it again though.

Am giving this restaurant four stars, because it doesn't have table service. Other than that I would have given it a five. The food was excellent. Their fresh potato chips were about the best I have ever eaten. The hamburgers were juicy and flavorful, the cheese choices were outstanding, and I highly recommend the smoked gouda. I went with a build your own burger, since I am kind of picky. They have a really great choice of fountain drinks.....Boylan brand rocks, and they had black cherry, YUM! The burger hound and I were very pleased with the whole experience and plan on returning.

I love you A bushel and a peck A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck Hug around the neck and a barrel and a heap A barrel and a heap and I'm talkin' in my sleep about yooouuuuu About yoooouuuuuuuuu A classic song from "Guys & Dolls"? Well, yes, but it's also the name of the burger that stole my heart. "Bushel and a Peck" burger, I'm talkin' in my sleep about yoooouuuuu. After sampling the heart-stoppingly awesome "Ampersand" burger at the Tom & Eddie's Yelp Event in Geneva, I knew a return visit to Tom & Eddie's was in order. Gourmet burgers, get in my belly! I was excited to try the aforementioned "Bushel and a Peck" burger: a juicy patty topped with caramelized onions, Granny Smith apple slices, melted Brie, and creamy walnut butter. The result was a sweet (but not TOO sweet) meaty treat. It can't be beat; nothing else can compete! After I finished, I was replete! ...Also, it was good to eat. Whoa, did things just get weird? I guess that happens when my mind is consumed with memories of that dreamy burger. I'll just be another few minutes, don't mind me. You can let yourself out.

Note - the Lombard location is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than the Naperville. I stopped by the Naperville one to order carryout (their computers were down so no online ordering that day) and it was a madhouse. The burger was nowhere near as good as Lombard's. If I had tried the Naperville one first, I highly doubt I would have been back to a Tom & Eddies. It's worth the extra drive to Lombard.

My cousins and I received a couple of coupons to eat for free during their pre-grand opening and we were very impressed. Since their opening, we go there at least once a week to eat their gourmet sandwiches. Each time we go (time of day all vary), the service is always amazing, the employees and managers are genuinely friendly, and their food is consistently delicious. They put a lot of time and thought into selecting the best quality ingredients and combinations for their menu. I haven't tried everything in their menu, but I'm sure I will in time. The portions are just right and will leave you feeling satisfied instead of feeling like you ate too much. I'm not a fan of onion rings, but their haystack onion rings are so good! Their sweet potato fries are my favorite. They're sweet and perfectly salted. I like to eat them with their Chicken BLT. I like to add their peppadew peppers (Note: grown in South Africa) to it [Chicken BLT] because they have sweet taste with spicy kick to it. At the pre-grand opening, we received samples of their desserts: hot fudge sundae and handmade milkshakes. The sundae was ok, but I'm not a big fan of them anyway. However their strawberry milkshake is great! The interior is cozy and very fitting with the food they offer. It's a place to sit down with friends to eat and maybe even study considering they offer free wifi. The place has peak times, but I usually go there when it's pretty slow so I can't really complain.

Went to visit with a friend who was in town visiting his brother and family and we were looking for a place to eat....he suggested this place after his brother took him there last year...I was not disappointed. These days I rate a burger place by their ability to make my alltime favorite -- mushroom and swiss...Tom and Eddie's version (Baby Bella Swiss) is very good...even with the garlic sauce (in lieu of ketchup). I chose the sweet potato fries as my side...very good as the fries were tasty and hot. The homemade sodas were a nice touch. I'll definitely try and get back here sometime if I am in the area....prices are a bit high but its worth a once in awhile treat...the decor gives it a very relaxed atmosphere (unlike Smashburger which looks very retro 70s). Their shakes looked very good but this time I didn't get one.

Tom & Eddie's has been talked about like it's the cat's meow. Friends and foes alike have graced this place as the next best thing. Not eating at Tom & Eddie's was like not eating at all. I've even seen the restaurant featured on Chicago's Best burgers so my expectations were high heading in. Let me say this...it's easy to do a good burger but hard to do a great burger. Tom & Eddie's does a good burger. The fries on the other hand are boring. I'm not sure what other side items they have but I'd recommend any of them over the fries. My problem with this place is that Portillo's is 2 blocks away serving a tastier and cheaper burger and fries. Not only that, the setting and music at Portillo's puts me in a great mood. Who doesn't want to stare at mobsters while eating delicious food? I like the stance they are taking with humanely treated animals but for me the bottom line is flavor. There's nothing in the regular burger that would make me come back. Tom & Eddie's motto is a decent burger for $10. They'll draw the business crowd due to the Target-style chic setting but much better food is found right up the street.

My husband and I came here with friends after church, upon their recommendation from friends. Walking in, we were overcome by lots of bright orange decor. Once you get past the orange, they have a great menu. Lots of burgers with all sorts of toppings, a caprese sandwich, turkey burger, and chicken sandwiches, and salads. Fries, chips, etc. come separately. I had the turkey burger, which came with feta cheese, roasted tomatoes, red onion, lettuce and a garlic aioli. It was delicious. My husband had the caprese sandwich, which he said was okay. We shared a large order of their fries which were good, though I would go for the sweet potato fries next time. Our friends had burgers and salads- the Caesar salad came with a fried egg on top! It's a bit pricier, as it's more gourmet burgers, but I thought well worth it. Now I need to go to Epic Burger and Smash Burger, and see which is the best!

This is one of my all-time favorite burger places in the west burbs. Gourmet burger places seem to popping up all over the place, but this place has a different take. Instead of serving up obscenely large, greasy burgers, this place has a very unique menu with options other than just beef patties. Despite all the options, I find myself ordering the same thing just about every time and I never regret it. The Bushel and a Peck has apple, brie, and walnut butter...perfect combination. Skip the sweet potato fries though because a lot of places do them a lot better. I strongly recommend this place for it's excellent food and always friendly staff.

Wow , wow , wow!! The Blue Chip Burger is amazing!!. It has Avocado, lettuce, tomato, Garlic Aioli, Blue Cheese Crumbles and the kicker is homemade kettle chips. The beef is so fresh.

I've been a vegetarian for eleven years and I'm always on the hunt for delicious veggie options. Tom & Eddie's has an Edamame burger that is to DIE for! My absolute favorite burger! I always get a custom burger with exactly everything I want on it. For a side dish, go for the sweet potato fries. They are amazing and taste great alone or with ketchup! Also, their milkshakes are made from Häagen-Dazs and taste heavenly! The people that work there are all very attentive and nice. They go out of their way to make sure your experience is great. I go here all the time! Definitely worth the price!

Hi, I'm Leslie and I'm a Libra. Fair and balanced, constantly seeking harmony. Sure it bothers me that that wasn't a complete sentence, and now my temperamental mind will not be balanced until harmony is sought. Remedies? I'll always have the assurance of a weekly grammar Nazi thread, but when trazodone withdrawals have left me with nothing but an abundance of energy, less time is spent staring at computers and more is spent outside interacting with the two legged masses. What I found on this humanitarian voyage: a restaurant that prides itself on homemade original burgers holds its veggie burgers to the same standards. Harmony was sought and achieved at Tom and Eddie's as countless patrons, veggies and meaties alike, sat across from one another without arrogant remarks toward the others life choices. Well, I didn't go table to table eavesdropping, but it's safe to say that after eating their veggie burgers, we might have converted some die hard animal predators. The edadame burger, quite aptly titles Yin and Yang, is the perfect burger consistency. Boca burgers, don't even try to compete. Normally, I'm suicide-sensitive, but boca, if you're listening, you really are worthless and have nothing to live for. Back to positivity and the worthy of living, Tom and Eddie's fries are just perfect. They're lightly salted, crunchy on the outside and feel just like a potato should on the inside. Lots of the old trusted Yelpers have suggested perusing the menu before entering the restaurant. The setup of this burger joint sort of like Panera except that your food is delivered to your table. As with most things that pose problems in my life, I avoid them, so takeout it was. Now I don't feel guilty for tipping or not tipping.

Ok so I had visited the Deerfield Tom and Eddie's but this was my first time at the Lombard location. I was extremely disappointed that they did not have the soda fountain to make your own drink like the Deerfield location, so maybe that will come soon I hope! Ok so on to the food portion, I made my own burger with a turkey burger, pepper jack cheese, onion and fried egg. Lets get forserious, that was by the far the best!!! I was a little disapointed that my side order of fries was so skimpy for $2 but I was so full from my turkey burger that I didn't even have room for more and should have probably saved my $2. The kids had a hotdog with apples and grilled cheese with apples, nice little meal and they seemed to enjoy it. I have seen people complain about the price but lets face it, if you want a $3 hamburger, go to Mcdonald's or Burger King. I tend to enjoy a great burger that didn't sit under heat lamps for a while before I ordered it and I don't mind paying a few extra $$ for it. I will return again but Tom and Eddie give Lombard the 130 something flavors!!!

I'm giving them 2 stars based on their Ampersand burger which I have enjoyed very much in my visits here. Even though it's a heart attack waiting to happen, I indulge every once in awhile and just eat salads for the rest of the week. However, where they faltered is in their service and that's always the cardinal sin for me. Last night, I was on a time-crunch so I decided to call up Tom and Eddie's for an Ampersand meal and treat myself (hey, it's $13, so I consider it a treat for fast food). I placed my order and the woman tells me it'll be ready in 20 minutes. I get in my car and drive over, but find out that they never placed my order so there is no food to speak of. She calls over the owner who tells me that they never placed the order and offers a free milkshake as compensation. Not needing the extra calories, I tell him thanks but no thanks. Plus, I didn't have another 20 minutes to waste since I'd already called the order in due to a time crunch. So while my love for the Ampersand burger was pretty strong, my love for good customer service and getting what I paid for is a hell of a lot stronger. So long, Tom and Eddie's.

When you have a price point like these guys do you have to be better than really good burger and green corn chili. I mean it was good but for a BURGER, soup and drink, almost $13... sorry burgers just aren't worth that much even if dressed in High end toppings. Couldn't even get a pickle with it...to the point I had to stop an hour later for a snack to get to dinner. I'll try it again if it is on someone else's dime but I can go to the Ale House a 1/2 block away for a burger just as good and twice the value.
(1)Amanda R.
Delicious hamburgers and fries! I never regret a trip to Tom and Eddie's!
(5)J H.
The wife and I ordered 2 burgers, 1 order of small fries, 2 soft drinks and the price, incuding tax, was just a few cents under $20.00, The burgers were a bit greasy and the fries were not hot. For something as simple as burgers and fries there are any number of other places where you can get more bang for your buck(s), such as Culvers, Portillo's, etc for 1/2 - 2/3 the price at T&E.
(2)James B.
Thought the food was great. Not just another big burger place, some great combinations that really taste phenominal.
(5)christine s.
Had a chicken burger (not the chicken breast sammie) w/white cheddar, wilted spinach, caramelized onions, avocado, and roasted tomatoes with a spicy mayo on a multigrain bun. A side of sweet potato fries. I wish I was having it again today. It's not as greasy as other burger joints, tasted fresh:)
(5)Tim H.
I gave them five stars because they are terrific at what they are and what they do. Tom & Eddie's is a kind of high end fast food place, so don't expect to see wait staff. You stand in line, read the menu, and place your order at the counter. Then they bring your food to your table. This IS fast food, but it is NOT McDonald's (even though Tom and Eddie used to be big shots there). FOOD: This is a burger joint, even though they do have some fish, bird, dogs, and greens on the menu. But what a burger joint it is! There must be a thousand combinations that one can order. The burgers are cooked to order and delicious! They also serve something they call "haystack onions," which are really tasty small cut and fried piles of goodness. They have a wonderful selection of fountain drinks and Haagen Dazs shakes and ice cream. In short, all the food and drink here is first class. Surprise: they also serve beer and wine. ROOM: This place is located near the west end of the Yorktown mall. The interior is kind of nice, with comfortable seating--maybe it's a little too close, but it's OK. Parking is easy, given its mall location. SERVICE: Here is where this place is amazing: I have never eaten at a place where everyone seemed to enjoy their work. Now they may be really miserable and sad, but if so, they are amazing actors. We arrived with a party of eight at prime time Saturday night, and they were packed. Notwithstanding that, the hostess went out of her way to make sure we all got to sit together. She moved tables and chairs and I suspect if it had been necessary, she'd have put an addition onto the side of the building! From the order taker to the busboy who cleaned our tables, everyone was friendly and welcoming. Are they on drugs? Or is it good training? Whatever, I like it, and they could teach a few lessons to some other places I frequent. PRICE: First class food means first class price. This place ain't cheap, with most burgers and a side going for around $10. So, in summary, I can highly recommend this place whenever you need a burger fix.
(5)Arnold L.
I was really hoping this place would be decent. To be fair, it is inside a mall so didn't go in with high expectations. I came away disappointed. Interior is nice, the ordering process is quick. Kinda between a sit down and a fast food restaurant. They have burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads. The descriptions of the items make the food sound really tasty. False advertising. Apparently Tom nor Eddie know how to make a good sandwich. My fried chicken sandwich was tasteless and salty. At least chick-fil-a has some seasoning to it and it s cheaper. Fries were okay. Might give this place one more chance, will opt for the burger next time.

We came to Tom & Eddie's because we were in the area and had a taste for a burger. Not knowing where to go, we saw its awning with a spatula icon and gave it a try. And glad we did! Overall, Tom & Eddie's patties are of the perfect thickness in proportion to the buns, which are delicious rolls like a soft pretzel but not chewy. The burgers are cooked well but maintain their juiciness. Not to mention, for such hearty, juicy burgers, they are not at all greasy and heart attack-inducing. We got the Tried & True, Love Me 'Dew, and Baby Bella & Swiss each with regular or sweet potato fries. The Tried & True was a classic all-American burger that you can never go wrong with. The Love Me 'Dew had an eclectic concoction of spicy mayo, peppers, and pepper jack cheese- a very nice kick. The Baby Bella & Swiss' flavor came out very nicely as it was contrasted with thinly sliced sweet red onions. The fries was of good cut, though a little salty for my preference. The sweet potato fries were amazing. Usually, I can't eat a whole plate of sweet potato fries but the cut was thin and flat, making the flavor really come out but not overpowering. The best part of Tom & Eddie's is its soft drinks bar. We tried nearly everything it had to offer. Our favorite was without a doubt the Birch Beer. Amazing. Don't even know how to describe this specialty root beer, but it was sooo delicious. Next time I need to get a Birch Beer float! We loved Tom & Eddie's so much we became loyalty members. Essentially every 12th burger is free. Yum! Love Tom & Eddie's!
(5)Jillian H.
I just wasn't impressed with the burgers. There are better places to get a good burger for about the same price. The burger was overcooked and dry. The fries were not very good but the chocolate shake was awesome. Once we got the food the server never stopped by again to ask how the food was.
(2)Rob R.
I had the Ampersand. Literally the best burger I've ever had, and I've had a lot of burgers. Every single ingredient on the burger compliments the others and the cheese was so good. Oh, and did I mention that they have gourmet sodas as well? Yeah. That was pretty darn cool too.
(5)Ches W.
These guys deliver. The "Blue Chip" (sliced avocado, garlic aioli, tomato, and blue cheese with fresh potato chips on a gourmet roll) was what my companion had, while I had the "Tried and True" (American cheese, mustard, ketchup, onion, pickles, mayo, lettuce, and tomato on a gourmet roll), which I thought was great. Decor: the layout was halfway between a Chili's and a Burger King (kinda quasi-self-servish), and the design was fresh, crisp, and modern. I loved the selection of crazy sauces and toppings to choose from. BTW, I finished off my companion's burger as well. :)
(4)Erick H.
Not the best burger I have ever had, but not the worst. I had the Blue Chip, which had a sliver of Avocado and a few bits of Bleu Cheese. Disappointed, to say the least. $12 for a disappointing meal.
(3)Wayne P.
You will not find a better "fast casual" burger place in the burbs than Tom and Eddie's. I got a chance to talk with Tom's wife actually and she said both Tom and Eddie started the restaurant because they were bored. Usually when I'm bored I turn on the TV, not start up an awesome restaurant. Food: I talked with one of the chefs who developed the burgers and she said the Ampersand is her favorite if you want something filling and meaty. It's got some of the best bacon I've had in a while and the burger was cooked to perfection with juices still flowing inside of it. There's also an egg over easy in it as well with some BBQ sauce. What I was told to do was slice it right in half so that the yolk spills over the meat. My oh my did I have a good time with that. Also, the sweet potato fries were delicious, although I did have a few that were too crispy. Shakes are solid as well and not too filling. TOTAL BILL: $15 The Pad: It's got a modern feel to it like something out of IKEA. Apparently there's a fireplace in one area. Cool right? There was outdoor seating for a nice day outside. The system for ordering and receiving your food was definitely using modern technology: 1) You place your order at the counter and can see what you order on the screen in front of you. 2) They give you a ticket with a number on it. 3) You find a seat and put your ticket inside some gizmo that reads it ( I think it's so they know where to go, like a tracking device) 4) They come and bring you your food Fun place with great food. It's definitely more expensive than McDonald's but well worth it.
(5)Janine H.
Best fries! Build your own burger or chicken sandwich...yes please! You just can't go wrong with Burgers, Fries and Shakes. If you liked Fuddruckers, this place is a million times better for sure.
(4)Amanda T.
Alright, Tom & Eddie's may one day earn another star, but the service left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, and first impressions are everything. Here's why: I ordered a custom burger with a fried egg on top. The burger arrived [25 minutes later...] sans the fried egg. So I told the guy that brought out the burger and he said he would bring the egg right out to me. No biggie. Fifteen minutes passed, my food is getting cold and still no egg. I eventually got it after asking a second time. However, other than the subpar service, I did like the place. The burger selection is nice and filled with heaps yummy sounding toppings. They even have an ahi tuna burger, which I really want to go back and try. There's also the option of creating your own burger and picking all the elements that go on it. I opted for that option and got a turkey burger, and it was a solid burger. The turkey patty was not dry and very tasty. I also don't drink soda very often; I haven't had one in months-but for some reason I got one that day. Very glad I did. There's a next selection of fountain drinks. There's the standard Coke, Sprit, etc., and then there's a selection of "crafty" sounding sodas. I tried the black cherry soda-fabulous. For the most part, it was a good experience. A little more fine tuning on the service and this place will be golden.
(3)Yukari T.
For me, this place screams "west Chicagoland suburbs". It has a modern feel and many thoughtful details that you definitely end up paying for at the register - organic Heinz ketchup and pepper mills at every table, thick, high quality paper napkins, and Boylan Bottling Co. fountain sodas. Cherry soda, cream soda, root beer, and even DIET root beer! What a treat. I do genuinely like this place and support the concept fully. It's kind of like Johnny Rockets meets Panera Bread. A burger place with higher quality ingredients, interesting menu items, not quite fast food but not quite sit down. I would be more of a fan if the food was more budget-friendly, but I understand that I'm not part of the target audience. When I stopped by on a Friday evening, there were lots of upper/middle class looking families. I'm assuming they are exactly the kind of folks that Tom and Eddie's is looking to attract. I had the Islander - a ground ahi tuna burger with interesting fixins. You can check out the menu online before you go so you know what to expect. There are a lot of choices and it can be a bit overwhelming if it's your first time. The burgers are kind of steep at $8.50-$10 but they come with a side. Not just fries or chips but salad or soup too. I had a side of soup - a green chile corn chowder that tasted like tortilla soup. It was really tasty and the portion size was perfect too. Not too small, not too big. I had my burger and soup and was full, but not stuffed. Just satisfied. Next time, I'll try a burger with the multi-grain bun. The sesame seed bun was really oddly yellow...and it totally reminded me of a Big Mac bun.
(4)Angry A.
Had the Blue Chip Burger (Sliced Hass avocado, Tom & Eddie's roasted garlic aioli, red ripe tomato, and crumbled blue cheese topped with fresh made potato chips on a gourmet roll). The closest competition is Labriola Baking Company's Burger. Sorry Labriola, but Tom and Eddie's burger wins by a nose. Yes, the burger is smaller than Labriola, but just as delicious (Labriola probably wins when it comes to the fries). Love the high tech paging system. The place is nice, the seats are comfy and I hope they succeed.
(4)Roselette B.
I've been to Tom & Eddie's twice - once for the Chicken Capri and once for the Tried & True Burger. The chicken sandwich was good, but the burger was absolutely delicious! Cooked to a perfect medium well and was surprisingly juicy without being greasy. I can't wait to try their Town & Country (Turkey) and Islander (Ahi Tuna). I think the menu has enough variety without being overwhelming, and I also like that you can build your own. The french fries leave a bit to be desired. They're cut small and don't hold up well to the burger and the serving size itself is a bit on the smaller side.
(4)Cheryl F.
Even a vegetarian can be a happy burger-eater at Tom & Eddies! Stuck in a weird western corner at the Shops on Butterfield (at Yorktown Mall), is a cute little burger joint, who knew? The decor is more of an upscale restaurant scene with a friendly staff who actually are helpful and friendly. I tried the Yin & Yang (Homemade ground edamame burger garnished with red ripe tomato, sliced red onion, crisp leaf lettuce, eggplant spread & goat cheese crumbles on a multi-grain roll). The eggplant spread was kind of odd, so I chucked the top of the bun with the spread and dove into the e-burger. The goat cheese provided a pleasant kick and I added some of the "Mustard Girl" stoneground from the condiments section to round out the flavors. The sweet potato fries were crispy and actually have real sweet potato flavor without a ton of overseasoning, which was a nice switch from most places who kill the flavor. All in all, I was surprised at how much I liked this place, I will try it again, but it a bit pricey so I will have to wait until payday.
(3)Frank C.
Just like the other burgers around, nothing special. Oh yeah, there is one thing that is different......to damn expensive, not worth it by a long shot. Save your money for something better. Another place that cares more about their lighting and furniture than their food. Frank Campeglia (The Food Club)

I really loved my experience at Tom & Eddie's! If you are looking for a great burger, I highly recommend a visit. Tom & Eddie's menu is the most diverse burger menu I have seen. Beef, Chicken, Turkey, Edamame, Ahi Tuna.....you can have all of those in the form off a delicious burger. On my visit, I chose a healthy option: the Yin & Yang Burger, which consisted of a homemade ground edamame burger garnished with red ripe tomato, sliced red onion, crisp leaf lettuce, eggplant spread & goat cheese crumbles on a multi-grain roll. Yeah, that thing rocked. Here are some other reasons why I give Tom & Eddie's five stars: 1. Unique electronic table flag system that tells the staff where you sat down (you order at a counter) and allows you to order more food while at your seat. 2. Excellent soda selection. 3. Awesome selection of hot sauces available next to the soda machine. 4. Outstanding service! Everyone was friendly, the table was bussed, and management was visible, greeting, and cleaning tables personally. If I had one critical thing to say about Tom & Eddie's, it would be that it is a bit pricey. I still hate buying a $10 burger, but Tom & Eddie's was the least painful of those purchases.
