This is my bar when I am not at work. I love the night crowd and the general goings on between patrons and the regulars. Two buck PBR drafts a) day every day and 3 dollar blackhaus!

Pub / dive bar next to the train station. Came here twice while I was visiting CHI for the weekend with my gf (who is from Lombard). Bartenders were nice, quick, and have a heavy pour. The second time we came Chris had more time to talk and he was funny and friendly! We told him we were from CA so he gave us options of music to pick lol. Just good relaxed environment. Good vibes. I'm about it. Met some good people in that bar too. I was actually sad to leave! On another note, drinks are cheap too haha. Stop in before the train! Hang out, have a drink, and some good conversation :)

This is the cleanest bar in Du Page county. I stand by this statement. It is also by the train. In my youth, yes I can say that, I loved this old man bar. They used to have a legendary bartender named Ozzie. He had Jazz nights and made the best Bloody Mary I have ever had. Ozzie was amazing and is long gone from good old Punky's. Punky's is still the best old man bar ever. I love it. See you there.

The second to last stop on my Mom's 50th Birthday Train Crawl, it was by far one of the friendlier places to go. Right off the train, they have cheap drinks, accommodating bar staff, and it is, best of all, clean! It's just one of those places that makes you feel at home.

Interesting place. Cheap drinks, kind staff, but it needs an outside bar then it is perfect.

You can be a dive bar and be a gem. Sometimes you want unpretention and a good beverage. This is a beer bar - if you want a drink with an umbrella, go to another place. You arent going to find a huge selection of amazing wines here either. But if you want to watch a game, enjoy a beer, have a shot of some sort - Punky's is your hometown hero. Prices are really good and they have some good specials.

Um yea, after reading the reviews I suggested this place to a friend. We went there for lunch and like Stefanie P said, it was just awkward. We walked in around 12:30 pm and there was one guy sitting at the bar and the bartender. So we said hi, no one responded, and sat down. We made eye contact with the bartender, a cook that came out, a waitress that came out and no one came to our table!? I didn't realize it was a self serve restaurant (Sarcasm). We waited for 15 minutes trying to get someone's attention and no one ever came! Needless to say, we got up, and left. Never again....I can't believe how rudely we were treated, or in this case not treated. I don't want to give it any stars but I have to.

Punky's is a dive. The beer is not expensive, there is nothing trendy happening within the doors of Punky's. You go here to drink with your friends after you get off of the train. If you are under 30 and female, you don't seem to pay for your drinks.

It's too clean to be a dive bar, so I'd just consider it a good local watering hole. Very non-pretentious, and the young folk haven't ruined it yet. Waiting for a train? Get a six pack to go. Cheers.

After reading all the reviews I thought it was time to try this place out last night Friday 11-7-09. I was extremely dissappointed. If you're under 25 this bar is not for you. There was not one young person in the entire place. Everyone was over weight, the music was terrible and the patrons rude. It could have been just a bad night but we felt WAY out of place. We left after 1 beer. I would NEVER say this is a GEM of Lombard. The place seemed like a corner dive. Steer cleer on a friday/Sat night. If you're lonely and over 40 this might be your place.

Hard to say what the best thing was about this place, but here are the top contenders: - The lovely bartender-owner. Very friendly and welcoming. You immediately got the sense that this was a local place where she knew the names of all her regular guests. - The colorful cast of locals. We arrived near the end of a Cubs game. While some patrons were actively following the game, others were delightfully random on their commentary. - Two dollar pints! Convenient when you make bets with Yelpers far more skilled at mini golf and subsequently owe them drinks. The special applied to all "domestics" (a label that somehow included Labatt but not Bells) but the lovely bartender-owner always let us know if we were ordering something not on special. If I lived in Lombard, this would be a regular stop on my way home from work (the convenient location right by the Metra station would only make my visits more frequent).

Yes, they sell beer and have some snack food hanging out in the corner to munch on, but the atmosphere is unfriendly. If you are not a regular, good luck getting a smile. If you want a simple beer and to sit alone at the bar, this is the place for you. Otherwise, find another place to have a few laughs with your friends.

Best bar in Lombard! Er, well, the only one that I've visited, but it can't get any better. This is a great example of a local/neighborhood bar: no frills, interesting regulars, cheap drinks, old-school ownership. On Saturdays, domestic pints are $2, although apparently this does not include Bell's or Sam Adams, although it DOES include Labatt's. I couldn't pass up a chance to drink Labatt's in honor of my cute little bunny rabbit. Labatt's is pretty rare on draft around here. Various signage around the bar advertises $5 and under sandwiches from 11-2pm and tall vodka lemonades for $3.50, plus a few new libations such as sweet tea vodka. They have electronic darts and a massively stocked jukebox: I counted five pages of A's, five pages of B's, and around the H's I got tired of scrolling. They have several Clancy Brothers albums, plus decent modern stuff such as Death Cab For Cutie and Cold War Kids, not to mention of course all the wretched modern and 90's pop music that you would expect. This is right in the middle of downtown Lombard, and there is abundant street parking out front, but watch out on Saturday evenings--there is a "Cruise Night" event and parking is not allowed, but the signs do not mention it. The lovely old-lady owner came around asking patrons if anyone was parked outside; if not for her, I would have been in for a rude surprise when I went outside to find myself ticketed and trapped by the festivities.

Until recently, I'd occasionally stop in here with a friend who lives down the street. It's not a destination bar you'd go out of your way for, but for us, it was a convenient location to have a few beers within walking distance from her condo. The last time a bunch of my friends came here, all sorts of shenanigans and drunken debauchery happened. Unfortunately, I was not present to partake in said shenanigans and drunken debauchery. All I know is that there was spitting on the bar, stuff was stolen from behind the bar, a sink in the bathroom got messed up, and the bathroom door got broken off it's hinges. My friends don't remember any of this happening. Apparently, they were operating in full on blackout mode. The only way they know of what happened is because they returned the next day to get their hoodies and to see if one of my friends left her shoes here. I don't come here anymore because my friends got banned from this establishment. Oh well, I guess I'll have to join my friends for shenanigans and drunken debauchery at another bar. Punky's Pub is a small bar, and a small bar is all that it is. It's nothing special and maybe it's a bit divey, but it's convenient if you live within walking distance or if you have time to kill before jumping on the train at the Metra stop just steps away. I'd normally say that I'd show my beautiful face here again, but, in this case, I have no longer have a reason to. Holla!!!â„¢

This place can be a little intimidating when you first walk in. Definitely a "regulars" type of place. The staff is very friendly. They are located right next to the Lombard Metra stop and this is a place to stop in for a quick drink. They do not take credit cards, so bring cash.

A hidden gem in Lombard! My best friends 30th was approaching and she wanted to celebrate. I suggested a few places to her I found on yelp, and Punky's was one of them. We got there around 11:30 or so and was surprised that the place had very few patrons so we obviously found a table. The place was very clean and well lit. The bathrooms was very clean and they had a chalk board above the toilet which was handy so we could write birthday notes to my friend. Ralph, the bartender was awesome. He was really nice and helpful. Unfortunately, some white trash skank couldn't hold her liquor and puked in the corner of the bar-on the floor and her purse and continued the puking party in the bathroom. Poor Ralph took care of the mess in no time. They also have a very extensive juke box that kept me busy, my five bucks was gone in a flash. The locals were super friendly as well. I wish that I found this place sooner but it's so well hidden! The specials that were posted looked awesome (free chili dogs on sundays!). I do believe that we have found a new watering hole in the heart on Lombard.

A nice bar where there are good prices and a to go menu for you flaskers out there. The owner is a nice lady who actually takes care to make sure no one is driving home completely wasted. Overall it is a good first or second stop for a night out. You aren't going to find a dance party going on, but the regulars are endearing, and the music is not lady gaga.

I love Punky's Pub!! I started going there a little over a year ago. My boyfriend used to live really close to it and it IS a great little bar. The staff and owner is very nice. Good crowd and great music choices! Nice to be right there off of the Metra line.

Given the lack of bar options around here, I'm really lucky that Punky's is just about perfect. It has everything I need in a bar: no poseurs, no creeps, just normal people and good drink specials. I've met the owner and I absolutely love her to death. If you're looking for a laid-back place to hang with your friends and not looking for a trendy scene, this is the place for you. If you drive here, there will likely not be any parking available right out front. But if you drive west along the tracks, there are more than 50 commuter spaces that are free after 3PM.

This is my neighborhood bar-2 blocks from home-easy stumbling distance. The drinks are stiff, there's Thin Lizzy on the jukebox, a cast of colorful regulars to keep you entertained, but if you want to be alone, no one bugs you. I usually head to Chicago for nightlife, but if I feel like keeping it low-key, I head to Punky's. It gets crowded on Cruise Nights in the summer, so get your seat while you can!
