My in laws suggested this place for breakfast. I was worried this would be a greasy, quantity over quality type place. But we were pleasantly surprised! The kids said we should give the review 10 stars! They really enjoyed their chocolate chip pancakes and Mickey Mouse pancakes. The adults all enjoyed omelets, crispy bacon, and pancakes. My wife loves Mexican food and she had the breakfast tacos which she really liked. Very flavorful, with fresh lettuce and tomatoes on the side. Service was friendly but maybe a tiny bit slow, which is understandable because they were very busy on a Sunday morning. My in laws said the menu has been expanded recently with lots of new options. Don't let the bad reviews sway you - this is a good choice for breakfast.

I just had breakfast at Omega in Lombard. I have eaten their several times for breakfast and lunch. Their food is excellent. What's not excellent is the owner of the restaurant who has 0 customer service skills and a horrible attitude. When My food came I had fruit on my plate: 1 little piece of watermelon and 1 little slice of cantelope. THIS was to substitute for my hash browns. When I confronted the owner as he walked by me, I said to him that I eat here all the time and the fruit on my plate was tiny. A normal person with any brain would say that this is how much fruit you get But let's see what I can do. His response to me is that's what we always give and walks away. Because of the way he handled the situation how he runs a restaurant is beyond me.My major complaint is the way he handled the situation. GRANTED if you get 2 pieces of fruit which you do that's fine. The 2 pieces that I got was a joke. Because of his great attitude I'll pass on this place as there are some other excellent restaurants near by.

I really wish I had checked Yelp prior to going to this restaurant - I would not have gone! I am not going to say this restaurant was bad but I'm going to say it was not really good either, the food was average. The restaurant was clean though. Also, my waitress was very nice and attentive. She also placed my order accurately. I am in Kentucky girl, so the fact that there were no grits on the menu hurt my feelings. I ended up ordering the Alanta pecan pancakes with bananas added. I also ordered sausage and scrambled eggs with American cheese. Let me just say that portion size will not be a problem for you at this restaurant, the portions are huge! Let me first discuss my pancakes. I believe my plate had 4 (8 inch diameter) pancakes. They were huge and fluffy but the taste was overly sweet! Add the syrup and they were pretty much inedible unless you like overly sweet pancakes. It was obvious that sugar and plenty of it had been added to the batter. I was unable to even finish one. And the syrup did not taste buttery or mapley - it was sweet and watery. The syrup had no texture or flavor. The sausage and egg plate came with eggs, two large sausage links and hash browns. The sausage links were awesome! I asked for American shredded cheese in my eggs, there was literally a half inch thick layer of melted cheese covering my eggs. It was just too much! The hash browns were nice and crispy but they had no flavor or seasoning. I did like their texture though. This place reminds me a lot of the diners up in New York - large portion but poor food flavor. Again I am from the south so I know breakfast - from now on I will cook it myself while I am up here.

Took my son for breakfast this morning to the Omega (traveling for work has its bene's) before his football game. He had the pigs in blanket and I had the combo with scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy. Scrambled was perfect with some volume in the ages, bacon was crisp and thick but the gravy was awesome. The biscuits where fresh and light. My was good but the pigs in the blanket was awesome. The pancakes are light fluffy (not dry at all) and had a great sweet malty taste to them. The coffee was strong and not watered down like in NJ. When I come back this will be my breakfast place.

Good coffee... good soup... good lettuce... good tomatoes... Omega!!! I look forward to many more Greek family-style restaurants in the near future, now that Greece is being evacuated thanks to Tsipras and friends.

I love breakfast foods and Omega knows how to do it right!! The skillets are fantastic, so are the omelets. The pancakes, french toast, and creepe menu is mouthwatering. And their portions are enough to feed this broke student for the rest of the day. They are also really fast and the take out is fast too, even on a Sunday morning! They do a great job with presenting the food too. So delicious! I only gave 4 because the service could be better, the ladies seem miserable and are a bit inattentive and the older man who seems like he is the boss was rude to me. But I don't care, those skillets are awesome.

I always love coming here to order a cream of chicken rice soup, a sprite, and the longer bread roll (not sure the name). For some reason this combination hits the spot. I also really like their salad that comes with the meal. Always fresh and I love the creamy garlic dressing. I always order off the specials page, I had ribs- they were pretty good, a lot of sweet sauce. Don't miss out on the real treat. The rice pudding with cinnamon, you can add whipped cream but I don't because I usually take it to go. It is delicious! Good customer service. They ask about your meal every time. Will be back soon.

My most recent visit here was my last. Food was not prepared well at all. Service was almost as bad - but not quite. Upon expressing concerns to the night manager regarding the food and service, I was told "Don't come back here." No, I'm not joking.

Had breakfast here a while back. Standard "Greek diner" fare - nothing surprising, but the usual suspects. Had a corned-beef hash skillet (one of the things I judge breakfast places by) and it was good - not a standout, but good.

  • Tom M.

Had breakfast here today. Service was okay and the corned beef skillet was okay. Way too much food. The toast was undercooked. We had to wait for quite a few minutes for refills on coffee and water. All in all a pretty typical Greek restaurant.

OMG! What have they done to this place? A friend and I couldn't get into Juicy-O's for breakfast on Labor Day and decided to come here. BIG MISTAKE. The food tasted like they hadn't cleaned the grill for a month or more and I was sick for the next 24 hours. The doggy bag got THROWN OUT in the parking lot -- why would anyone do that to a beloved pet? Never again, my friends, never again.

My wife and I live in the area and over the years stopped in . Today we stopped for breakfast . It was 10:00 am and the restaurant was not overly busy . Our waitress was uninspired . She barely spoke to us , food was good with very large portions . I had a lox and onion omlette that was very good . My wife chose ham and eggs , she enjoyed it as well . Again the waitress just barely spoke . As I paid the bill I found out why , the older man sets the tone . Never asked if everything was ok nor did he thank me ! Business must be good that this behavior is tolerated . I think I will choose another spot to spend my hard earned money .

Some of the best cure a hangover breakfast food I've had in a while! The portions are humongous, come out quickly and with friendly service, and at low prices! I had the veggie skillet w/bacon and pancakes and it was awesome (and only $8!). I couldn't even eat half of what I was served, and it was full of yummy goodness. I will eat at Omega anytime I'm in Lombard in the future.

I've only been for breakfast, but the service was good and the food was tasty. I had the black berry blintzes which were delicious. Not too sugary or too cheesy. The husband wolfed down a skillet. Worth the visit.

I grew up eating at the Kappy's, Omega, Seven Brothers, and Arvey's in the near north suburbs, so I have over 30 yrs experience eating at Greek diners. There are only two criteria for me for judging the quality of the restaurant: first, how good is the breakfast? And secondly, how good is the hot beef sandwich? This is the shibboleth by which you shall know the true power of a diner's cooks. The hot beef sandwich is a marvelous thing when done right. To begin with, there should be a soup or salad choice, with a bread basket, and then the main event itself: a generous pile of thinly sliced roast beef, well done, coated in an unctuous brown gravy that hints of demi-glace or red wine in its best form, draped open faced over two triangles of white bread, served with a domed scoop of mashed potato on the side, also covered with gravy. The best version of this sandwich could be found at Arvey's in Niles, which sadly has been gone now some 20 years. At Omega you can get a very close approximation, exactly as described, in very generous portions at that. The Niles/Des Plaines location is the same.

This place serves reliable diner food, and I've been to their other locations since I was yea-high (holds hand perpendicular to hip) and it's always been a reliable name in quick diner fare. A-ok standby, if you're looking for a quick meal I'd say skip the chains up the street by the mall and just stop at Omega.

The bf and I rarely go out for dessert, but last night we were on a mission! Unfortunately there aren't many options at 9:45 pm, but Omega was one of the few. We scoped out the dessert case, but weren't totally sold, though I was contemplating the tirimisu. We each ordered the ice cream sundae ($4.95). I got the hot fudge and he got strawberry topping. Ok, the sundaes were ginormous! I was thinking we'd get ours in fountain-type glasses, but that wasn't the case. I can't tell you how many scoops they were (at least 3? 4?), but they were generously covered with whipped cream, syrup/topping, drizzle, and a cherry. Yum. The bill (with 2 coffees) was $15 before tip. Service was attentive - we were checked on and out coffees were refilled. I left with the sweet tooth satiated. :)

First, I will register my chief complaint. The menu is diverse and has several dishes that are extremely unique. One of them is the Baked Apple Oatmeal, which comes as a full meal only. I arrived in Chicago at 7 am and dined with them and was very impressed with my breakfast. As promised, The Frugal Socialite brought more people back to the restaurant to experience the food. I wanted to sample the baked apple oatmeal dish, because I would not sure I wanted to order an entire meal. They hit me with what I called the "restaurant excuses". They said it is baked in a square pan and cut to order. For that reason, there is nothing extra they could spare as a sample. Really? Not only have I owned a catering business, worked for corporate and private restaurants as a marketing & Catering Manager, I'm also an international food journalist . Please don't tell me that in cutting and getting the first slice out, there are no crumbs, there are no pieces that don't look good enough to serve, and etc. . Sampling something to a customer, who may become repeat business, is not worth comping off one square? the profit margin on a dish comprised of oatmeal, applesauce and fillers is so high that it will impact revenues that much? I think not. Such a turnoff for me.

When I think of Greek style pancake houses, the first place that generally springs to my mind is Omega Restaurant. While I'm most familiar with the now closed (though apparently re-opening soon) Downers Grove Omega, the one off of Highland just across the street from Yorktown Mall is very similar in terms of the menu and food. In visiting Omega I walked in and within a few moments was greeted by an older gentleman who brought me to a booth. Within a couple of minutes a waitress came by, took my drink order and was promptly back at my table to take my order for breakfast. I decided to go for the Omega Skillet, in visits here and the other Omega I generally stuck with the Omega Skillet, the Hobo Banquet or the Gypsy. The skillet I received had well done eggs, a lot of cheese and crisp potato on the bottom. Overall it was exactly what I expected. I also got pancakes (instead of toast) with my skillet, these were well made as well, no burned or grizzled edges and there was more than enough syrup for both of them. Overall I liked this Omega enough to return again, though it doesn't stand out from the pack of breakfast places enough to make it a place I'll regularly visit. I give the Lombard Omega three stars.

My boyfriend and I live walking distance from this Omega. The people up front are TERRIBLE. The older man behind the host stand is rude. One day, he was staring at the tv watching women's tennis (creepy) while a customer stood there waiting for him to acknowledge her for about 5 minutes. I recently called to place a pick up order, and he was so rude I hung up and ordered elsewhere! We have also ordered just a plain cheese omelet. They charged us for a full-priced meal?? $8 for just a plain cheese omelet without ANY sides (hash browns, toast, etc)?! The servers here are the only reason they will get more than 1 star. They have always been great anytime we've decided to sit down and eat. The food is mediocre (not that I can expect much from a Greek restaurant). Like I said, we live walking distance from here. I am refusing now to return here. There are plenty of breakfast restaurants in the area I'd much rather go to anyway. Simon's, Maxfields, Egg Harbor, Juicy-O...MUCH better than this place..and better service!!

Had an Omega skillet here. Sausage and Bacon was excellently cooked. The potatoes are very good, cubed. The cheese is shredded and mixed among the dish which made a nice spoonful each time. The really bad part came when my brother got corn that was sour. They replaced it with broccoli. The fried fish special they had was ok, beer battered, not the best I've had. The tartar was good though. The pancakes had great flavor and texture. The service on the other hand was a bit slow and lack luster, by no means bad but just not inviting? The ambience is quite bleh, small dingy looking place. Nowhere near as nice as the one in Schaumburg I normally go to. Or is it Hanover Park? I always forget where that corner is.

Place was terrible! Do not visit here. I order some stupid combo platter.... The eggs were slimy from god knows what, the pancakes were not only some cheap pancake mix but also not done, the bacon, although I asked for it to be made crispy, was underdone and extremely fatty. Then upon complaining about the meal and how I could only eat the bacon which was barely edible, they took my meal off the bill but charged me 3.95 for four slices of bacon. Terrible food, terrible service, terrible cooks, terrible managers, terrible place.

I've been putting off reviewing any Omega restaurant for years, because I know they are beloved ... by everyone but me. I only eat at the Omega when dragged there by friends or family. It happens more often than I'd like. I survive by ordering potato pancakes. They come with sour cream, applesauce, or both (if you ask). I think they are pretty tasty. I've also had good French toast at Omega, but I'm usually not inclined to order something so ooey-gooey-sweet. If you're going to do Omega though, breakfast / brunch is the time to go. Coffee is passable. I hate going here for lunch or dinner. If there's any scratch cooking going on in the kitchen, it certainly doesn't taste that way. Seems to me it's mostly from frozen or cans. It all tastes the same and it's all bland. There is nothing new, interesting, creative, fresh, or seasonal. HOW OLD is that basket of bread, by the way? Even more bland are the desserts. They look beautiful, but taste only of sugar. With so many other dining venues nearby, I don't understand the appeal. To save $5? Well there you have it. Enjoy! Just please don't ask me to go with you.

amazing breakfast!!! I love this place, I want so badly to give 5 stars but the service has it's days. My last visit the waitress was so rude, I dislike that more than anything. The food though is on point.

  • Andrew L.

BARF!!! This was awful! What breakfast joint screws up breakfast?! Omega, that's who! I went in for breakfast and ordered eggs and sausage with pineapple juice. Eggs are eggs... Whatever, but when I order sausage, I sure as hell didn't expect a daggum HOT DOG cut lengthwise! Big turnoff, and if that wasn't enough, my "pineapple juice" was that syrup crap from the can! Take all of that, add an attitude from the server when I suggested disappointment and you end up with a big fat case of NOPE! Never again. I'll go to Maxfield's on Roosevelt! There I'll get real food that tastes good and I'll be treated like a human being, not a payout.

Don't eat the bread here. I took a bite and flip over the bread and there was hairy mold on it. I told the waitress, she told the manger and he said he doesn't know what it is they don't make the bread, it's from a different company....That's nice they don't back up the products they sell. Horrible! Never again.

  • Angela P.

My favorite dishes here are the chicken melt, cream of chicken & rice soup, and the hobo skillet. I have been to other Omega locations many times throughout the years, and their dishes are consistent. The service is decent, and the prices are fair. My last visit was the morning after our wedding - we were hungry, and we just so happened to have a little extra cash for breakfast! Not sure why it attracts a big elderly crowd. My girlfriends and I used to go here and have long talks over lunch - think "Sex and the City" lingering chats in the cafe.

  • Dinah T.

Greek diner for sure. Huge portions and I enjoyed my corned beef hash skillet for breakfast. Potato hash was fully cooked not still raw in the middle like some places that I've been do. Friendly service. I'd go back.

  • Kelly R.

Bad attitudes! Is the word for this place I never waited 30 minutes for pancakes and salad! I find it very uncomfortable when the 6 other waitresses were standing and watching us when they should've been cleaning! When we asked a question are waitress already had a answer before we finished asking so all in all it was a BAD experience and I will never be back! The customer service is horrible to say the least when the hostesses asked "how was everything" we said not good and they didn't care to ask why or to fix the problem. Good luck getting a smile or a hi from anyone that works here!

Does this place have any relation to Dapper's in Addison? The menu is exactly the same, even down to the font. Not sure which came first, guess it is a classic case of the chicken vs. the egg. Service here was extremely poor. Visited early afternoon on a Saturday. The place was busy but there were still empty tables so it wasn't slammed. Our server was very cold and not very friendly/warm. Barely said a word to us. When he brought our food he slammed the plates down and didn't even place them in front of the right person. Not once did I receive a refill on my soft drink (nor was I asked if I wanted a refill). My bf had coffee and he did refill that a few times. His whole demeanor made me anxious to eat and leave. Also, took him forever to get back to us to bring us a box for leftovers and our check. Oh, and he never came by asking how our food tasted and if we needed anything else. I ordered the chicken philly since I get this at Dapper's all the time. Omega's version was OK, I prefer Dapper's chicken philly so much more (Dapper's is on a garlicy bun, Omega's seemed to be on a regular bun). Omega did serve a slice of fruit though with the sandwich. Based on the poor service and mediocre food, I won't be back.

This is NOT like the other Omega restaurants nearby, this doesn't even feel greek. Breakfast was ok, a little bit greasy. Decor is very dated, reminds me of Robert Irvine's description of "GLASS AND BRASS". Food seems a tad pricey too, $14 for lox and bagel really? Even my Omega skillet was $9, seems about $2 too high. Probably one of the rare times I didn't finish my plate, and I was pretty hungry too.

This place is beyond amazing! I was hesitating to come here since I was looking forward to go to Egg Harbor but OMG the food is delicious. Like I died and went to Breakfast heaven.

  • Nina A.

Had lunch here with my family after the recommendation of a friend. The bill for 3 people to eat came to $42 (with $4 tip). I felt this price was extremely expensive for 2 adults and 1 child to eat. The food was ok but nothing fantastic for the price. The waitress wasn't very good. I don't know if she was having an off day or what. She over charged us for 2 of our items, which was rectified. It took her a while to bring us our coffees and only 1 at a time, 5 mins between receiving them. Also, be aware they have no kids orange juice. We were not told this and paid $4 for 1 small cup of juice. This was pricey for average food and the service wasn't the best. I doubt I would be returning to Omega any time soon.

The breakfast is delicious at this place, the coffee, the skillets, the hash browns, the eggs Benedict. But I have to give a special shout-out to the Swedish crepes. OMG. They are melt-in-your-mouth buttery deliciousness. Crisp around the edges and soft and fluffy inside. They are HUGE, sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with a generous side of chilled lingonberries. There's probably enough for 2-3 people to share, but I wouldn't know because I won't share mine. If you're in Lombard, make sure you hit this joint for a very special, delicious meal. Skip the I-Hop. And ask for Dolores- she's fun, cheery, quick with a smile, and an attentive server. I've only eaten here in the mornings, so have not witnessed any evening-manager-shenanigans. Highly recommended.

I was doing a job in the area and my boss wanted a Greek salad so...he buys I fly that usually how it works. The ladies at work recommended that we try Omega, they told us the food is great!!!! Sure I give it a try since they gave it such a great review. When I got there I noticed right away that there were a lot if elderly people eating in the restaurant. Which means that's great!!! The food is good and they've been going there for years. I place my order for turkey club (just to be safe) and the Greek salad. It took 25min for the food to come out. "Because there so busy". The people seem friendly so I can't really say too much but.... I do recommend this place if you're into nursinghome food.

I can confidently recommend Omega as a great choice for any time of day. We've been back several times for dinner and they have some good stuff. It's a huge menu, so give me awhile to work my way through it. :) Delicious soup, huge salads, tasty gyros, all so good. Our most recent trip was more late-evening snackage, and while our friend was restrained with soup and chicken salad sandwich, we noshed on the biggest basket of onion rings (garlic-parmesan, no less) that I have ever seen. I also had a pineapple milkshake. Just because. It was huge, a little messy, with fresh (canned?) pineapple chunks in it! If I did have one criticism, it's that things tend to be underseasoned. I get that the clientele probably skews a bit older, but a dash of salt, pepper and maybe a little garlic can go a long way. Still, better to be able to add your own salt than have something so salty it burns, right? This will continue to be a frequent dining choice for us as I try something from every section of the menu.

I honestly cannot remember another restaurant that has given me such a huge portion of anything! Called in a lunch order from here the other day and got a bowl of cream of potato soup along with one of those leftover tins that is big enough to fit a small pie filled with a grilled cheese sandwich....buried under a mountain of french fries. Talk about CARB-O-LOAD! I love it! Genrally speaking, food is pretty standard diner fare, food is CONSISTENT (which is a huge thing), and staff are always friendly. I remember dining here once when I was little and the power went out. The staff brought all the children in the restaurant free ice cream. I think that is a solid example of how cool Omega is.

Had Gyro Omelette, not that good as the gyro meat was like that you get in a box from the grocery store, and the center of it was undercooked. Though the hash browns and pancakes were good, so I was able to eat something.

Not as good as the location on Ogden in Downers Grove but this place is still pretty good. You always get fed well at a decent price. I noticed the service here was not as good as the DG location but still a pretty good place. 3.5 stars!

  • Christy L.

This was a great find. The restaurant is a half mile from the hotel, the food was tasty and reasonably priced, and good grief, if you leave hungry it's totally your fault. Service was quick and efficient, very pleasant but not hovering. A very enjoyable experience.

  • Jay N.

The place is a little smaller than other Omegas but about the right size for its location. I don't think it gets a large volume of traffic but there usually isn't a wait here. Getting out of here onto Highland can be a little difficult but traffic is usually ok. There are other Greek restaurants and diners nearby but this is pretty solid. The menu options are pretty good for breakfast and lunch/dinner. Along with all of the normal items, they give you the option of pancakes instead of toast, as well as charging only 50cents for cheese on any omelet. The standard sandwich gives you a soup or salad along with fries and the bread basket for about $8. They always have some specials and service is pretty friendly and takes care of the little requests (lemons on the side with water, giving you new glasses of water instead of just refilling with ice, individual syrup servings and fresh butter, etc.).

Sweet cinnamon goodness. Their cinnamon apple waffles are the best! You won't find artificially sweet, ooey-gooey crap. They nicely slice and well season fresh apples. The waffles are cooked to perfection. Service is also a strong point. I sampled the waffles that my friend ordered, but I had already had dinner and only drank water. They didn't bug me or pressure me to get anything. Not many places are that chill about freeloaders these days. I'll be back soon to get my own food.

If you're looking for a good priced breakfast dive with good food and large portions, this is the place. Excellent and friendly service, and they are open LATE, so super convenient if you want a skillet after midnight :)

We went here the other day after my nieces recital. The food was fine as usual, nothing spectacular but predictable. The waitress however was TERRIBLE. She was incredibly rude and seemed inconvenienced by our presence. She even made us feel bad about our request. I don't know if we will be returning.

I visited tonight and had a normal meal. When I left I could not believe that the manager was yelling at us. We had waited a few minutes to pay and finally a waitress helped us. She stated that the manager was playing games on his phone and was too busy. When he got up we mentioned the same thing jokingly. He started yelling if we were his boss. Getting angry with regular customers that were in a good mood to begin with is such poor taste. What a jerk!! We will never go there again. We will tell as many people as we can as we live and work in Lombard.

You will leave overstuffed and your ears ringing a little from the noise, but it's very much worth your hard earned cash and lunch-rush-hour time. The waitresses are always very professional and the owner and his son are always ready to sit you quickly. Not a lot of variety for vegetarians though, I usually stick to sides most of the time. This location also has a smaller version of the refrigerated dessert case that the Ogden location is famous for - yum!

Omega is delicious. It's a standard Greek-type family restaurant, but they go above and beyond to make sure all of the food is wonderful. More expensive than some, but the portions are very large so you'll have some to take home. Even the boring, run-of-the-mill stuff is tasty. Makes you wonder why toast can't be that yummy at every restaurant. It does get packed for breakfast on the weekends, so be prepared for a long wait if you go then. They have adorable cookies at the cash register that look sweet, but don't actually taste very good. One day I'll be brave enough to order their Tummy Buster sundae that's been calling my name for years. Definitely try the sweet and hot cabbage soup if it's on the menu - it's like golabki in a bowl.

Wow just WOW! so my wife and i went in there last sunday to buy a couple quarts of soup to go home with. the owner overheard me asking the host if we could get more croissants then the other rolls that come with it and snapped over that they dont give croissants with to-go orders even though they are brought out to every table. i politely commented that the other Omega locations that i have frequented have always accommodated us and he snapped back that they are not affiliated and that i could pay $1 each for croissants, we decided to pass. i waited at the register to pay for my soup as the owner rung out 4 other customers (that we were ahead of), even reaching around me to grab their bill without acknowledging that i was standing there. when the owner finally did finally ring us out, i politely said to him "you might want to work on being more personable because you make me not want to come back to eat here", he responded by telling me "i dont like your fucking face!". I stood there stunned because of how inappropriate he was and he repeated again "i dont like your fucking face, get out of my restaurant". i told him i will not leave until i was ready and he proceeded to make a huge scene in front of the entire restaurant where he continued yelling obscenities at us until we left. The customers, mostly who were 50+ were totally stunned by his behavior. Ive dined at Omegas dozens of times in my life but my wife and i will never be back here again. the owner is absolutely psychotic! From what i see, that location cannot afford to turn away the business.

This is our regular joint for breakfast on the weekends. The hosts will always get you sat as soon as possible. The service is good and fast. They actually care that your food is cooked the way you have requested, that is a first. The only problem we have encountered there is the cleanliness of the coffee cups. But if you bring it to their attention, it is fixed immediately. The busboys make a lot of noise when clearing a table. Other than that it's not a noisy restaurant. We love it there and haven't been able to find any other place for breakfast as good in the area.

i like omega, been going there for years now. mostly for breakfast and lunch, ive never really eaten dinner there. the breakfast is really good, omelettes are huge, and service is very good. they also make homemade soups every day of the week, i had a sweet and hot cabbage soup on a friday, it really was outstanding. huge menu, there is something for evryone, they also serve beer, and have a wide selections of pies and sweet breads. omega is a staple, let's face it, even when it's bad, its still pretty good.

My husband and I wanted to eat a casual Friday night dinner out. We hadn't been to the Omega in probably over 6 years. Unfortunately, tonight's dinner was a FAIL for us. I went specifically for the cream of chicken with rice soup. The menu says that they serve this soup every day. Well, it should have said that they serve this soup, everyday except for Friday night. As our server explained it "We never have cream of chicken rice soup on Friday because that is the all you can eat fish day. No chicken on fish day." Ok.... that makes no sense to me because the other soup option was chicken matzha ball soup. But it is what it is, so I chose the matzha ball soup and my husband chose a salad instead. The chicken matzha ball soup was fair. There was exactly one 1" piece of chicken in the small bowl. My husband's entree was the macaroni and cheese. I'll admit the first time ordering macaroni and cheese at a restaurant can be a bit of an experiment. There are so many different ways the mac and cheese can be prepared; creamy, baked, crunchy topping, no topping, etc. The mac and cheese was an utter failure. We should have sent it back. I have never had macaroni so over cooked. The noodles were basically mush. They were covered in more of a white cheese sauce and then 2 slices of American cheese were laid on top and melted. It did not even look appetizing. We will not be returning.

I used to come here when I was a kid. Great big menu, decent prices and good overall quality of food. Hope they are as good today as they have always been, as it's been a few years since I frequented this location.

Breakfast here is very good, not amazing, but much better than average. They have HUGE portions; one entree is easily enough for two people. I had the chicken fried chicken, which was in the top five I've had. I'm a gravy hound and theirs is delicious. Wife had the strawberry crepes. The crepes were perfectly cooked and the strawberries fresh, but the syrup was a little one-dimensional. Not bad at all, just simple. Their pancake batter is very sweet, almost like yellow birthday cake. They were also cooked just how I like them (crispy), but the sweetness just isn't my thing. Our service was extremely prompt, professional, and courteous.

This is your standard "Greek-style" diner. I've actually been to other Omega's and this one is kind of lacking in comparison. The other locations I've been to have had an EXTENSIVE dessert section and really great bread selections in their "freebie" baskets. This one had neither. I think they had jello and rice pudding (as opposed to the other locations that had an eye popping display that made me want to say "forget about dinner, let's just have pie") and the bread was just a couple of dingy rolls and cracker packs. I had the Omega skillet and added broccoli. It was really delicious, although I kind of grumbled for being charged $1 for the addition (Yeah, I'm cheap, so what?) It came with buttermilk pancakes that were pretty mediocre...in fact, they had an odd, almost dryer-sheet flavor to them...which was weird. It was faint and not overpowering, but I didn't finish them. I did, however, finish the skillet, minus a few bites, it was really filling and delicious. I felt the service was kind of hit or miss. I was a lone diner, and I understand that sometimes waitresses don't pay as much attention to us, but I noticed a small group of people who had another waitress really got much higher quality service. They got told specials, a smile in the waitress's voice and attention when they needed accommodations. I asked for some hot sauce, once from the "nice" waitress (from the other group) since mine was MIA, and then again from my own waitress. I felt like by the time I got the hot sauce, I was nearly halfway done. Also, I could have probably "dined and dashed" in the time it took "the guy" to come to the register to finally ring me up. But I showed restraint and paid for my meal. I might give this place another shot at a different time of day, this was around 8:30 at night; or maybe if I had friends joining me. Perhaps I might get a better experience in other circumstances.

Ordered a veggie omelette & the amount of food that came out was huge! I could only finish half my plate. The omelette was bland, even after adding salt and pepper. Slightly disappointed but I'd be willing to try a different plate. Hash browns were exceptional, though! Done right. Cute place, I'd give them another try.

I can't say that I'm a regular at Omega but I have gone there enough to know the low-down if someone was asking me about it. Omega is your run of the mill/neighborhood diner. It's not going anywhere soon and I think that to be a good thing. If you're looking for something easy, not pricey, and decent...you go to Omega. The service is average and the food is pretty average. Possibly a little above. Walking into Omega, it looks a little like an old fashioned diner. There's not always someone there to greet you when you first walk in, which is less than satisfactory, but it's not like you're in a suit and tie waiting to be sat at Girl and the Goat or something. The servers are usually very nice and helpful but they can be a little distracted and not helpful sometimes. But- everyone has their bad days so who knows...regardless, my service here has been overall good every time I've come here. Not gonna complain on that too much. All in all, Omega is a standard breakfast/lunch/late night spot with a ton of options. If you're looking for something everyone in your group can go eat at - even the picky eaters - go to Omega.

Went for Brunch w adult siblings and parents. Dad ordered Large Granny Smith Gourmet Pancake for $17 that takes 30min to make and is said to be enough for two. It was enough for all six of us! Full of apples and good flavor. Husband ordered Belgian waffle w Bananas which was good. Rest of us ordered skillets & my sister and I could have shared, they were very filling. Everything was reasonably priced. Pleasant wait staff. Restaurant was nicely decorated for Easter. But infrastructure was dated. Tabletop was peeling and caught my sleeve a few times. Nothing so bad to detract from a good time though. Bathrooms were clean. This is a diner, with unhealthy diner food. Don't expect anything else. Wouldn't come here for a salad. It is great for what it is. We would eat here again for sure.

This is a typical Greek owned restaurant very similar to the other Omegas or Dappers. Staff is not rude but not very friendly. Big portions at decent prices. Great for lunch, They attract an older/retired crowd. Their Paninis are incredible and the Monte Cristo sandwich is loaded with great tasting turkey and ham.(around $8.00). Food comes out pretty fast. All meals come with a big bread/cracker basket and bowl of hearty soup. You can't beat the value here.

Nice staff, large menu from breakfast to dinner and even desert. I had received soup as part of the meal. I pick cream of broccoli. It was good. I had a "famous chicken fajita wrap". It arrived in reasonable amount of time. It was hot and the chicken seemed plain. The veggies were fine. I had ordered rice for a side instead of fries. It was white rice with some mushrooms and had seasoning on it. My girlfriend had ordered a regular burger. She had fries on the side and a full pickle. She thought the burger was still plane and only ate Half of it. I don't see myself going back any time soon. But I will try it out again.

Rating: 3.1 Short description: Standard SGR - S****y Greek Restaurant Pluses: They have amazing hours, a HUGE menu of options to choose from, their French Onion soup is solid, and they do breakfast all the time. Negatives: They do a lot of things okay, and not a lot perfectly. It's pretty standard in this style of restaurant. I'd rather they do one thing perfectly. Recommendations: French Onion Soup is great, get it if you can find a meal that can accompany it.

Greek diner for sure. Huge portions and I enjoyed my corned beef hash skillet for breakfast. Potato hash was fully cooked not still raw in the middle like some places that I've been do. Friendly service. I'd go back.

3.5 stars!

This was a great find. The restaurant is a half mile from the hotel, the food was tasty and reasonably priced, and good grief, if you leave hungry it's totally your fault. Service was quick and efficient, very pleasant but not hovering. A very enjoyable experience.

Had breakfast here a while back. Standard "Greek diner" fare - nothing surprising, but the usual suspects. Had a corned-beef hash skillet (one of the things I judge breakfast places by) and it was good - not a standout, but good.

Don't eat the bread here. I took a bite and flip over the bread and there was hairy mold on it. I told the waitress, she told the manger and he said he doesn't know what it is they don't make the bread, it's from a different company....That's nice they don't back up the products they sell. Horrible! Never again.

Greek diner for sure. Huge portions and I enjoyed my corned beef hash skillet for breakfast. Potato hash was fully cooked not still raw in the middle like some places that I've been do. Friendly service. I'd go back.

  • Edward B.

  • Carmella P.

  • Jessica D.

The Niles/Des Plaines location is the same.

i like omega, been going there for years now. mostly for breakfast and lunch, ive never really eaten dinner there. the breakfast is really good, omelettes are huge, and service is very good. they also make homemade soups every day of the week, i had a sweet and hot cabbage soup on a friday, it really was outstanding. huge menu, there is something for evryone, they also serve beer, and have a wide selections of pies and sweet breads. omega is a staple, let's face it, even when it's bad, its still pretty good.
