The food here is just okay- I'm still searching for a good Thai place in Chicagoland. This place is close to my house, and I come here for my Thai fix. The egg rolls are my favorite menu item here. The curries are watery, and there is not a strong flavor to them. Last downside: no beer, sake, or alcohol of any sorts! On the upside, service is quick and friendly. You don't have to wait very long to get your food. They once did not box up all of my food, and when I called the next day to say that half of my meal was mixing, they replaced it with a fresh order! Pretty good customer service once you can speak to someone who understands English (this took three phone call attempts, after being hung-up on several times by the ladies who couldn't understand me).

Ordered first time was great, but the last two times has NO FLAVOR! Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Would love to find something with flavor in the area. Too much $ for quality....might as well go to Panda Express, yuk but has more flavor and more for your $.

Excellent meal. Each dish was well crafted and balanced with memories of Bangkok with each bite.

Our favorite restaurant! I always order Almond Tofu, my vegan version of Almond Beef. It is amazing and always makes me happy! They have wonderful curry dishes, and the staff is very friendly.

Wow this was gross. I felt like I should get a pedicure there due to the fumes from the nail salon next door. I ordered pad Thai with tofu. It smelled old and just didn't taste good at all, and I have low Thai food standards. The portion size was not worth the $9.80 for the meal. I would never go back under any circumstances.

Portions are huge, take out was fast. But the chicken pad Thai I had lacked flavor. Wasn't terribly bad but with Basai Thai so close, I would choose the latter. If you are a big lunch eater though. That their pad Thai and lunch specials come WITH fried rice. Most Thai places have the fried rice by itself as its lunch special! Lunch mate had the fried egg rolls which he said were tasty.

I went here myself for a late lunch. The service was great! I was sat quickly and the waitress was friendly. I ordered beef pad Thai, spring rolls, and Thai iced coffee. I loved the glass that the coffee came in. I also placed another order of pad Thai to take home. I will gladly come back here. Yummy stuff!

If you like americanized Thai food go here, the food really inst any good. Wait the food is NOT GOOD. The noodles stick together.

Great food....mediocre service...outdated decor...bathrooms need to be cleaned and renovated ...
(4)David N.
Good sized portions. Had the Woosen Pad Thai and my girlfriend ordered the BBQ Pork Noodles. We both really enjoyed our meals. For desert, we had the taro pearl and the banana wonton. These were also very good. Saddly, the mango sticky rice was out of season.
(5)Jeanette M.
Green curry and curry fried rice ok. Stay away from the Panang Curry! It was honestly disgusting. Like I was eating peanut butter sauce.

This spot is pretty good for a Thai place, but nothing spectacular, and there are better options nearby. They do have some vegetarian options which some places tend to lack, so it's good. The portions were pretty good for a lunch menu and the food came out quickly. It's a casual atmosphere so if you're just looking for a quick place to grab a bite this is probably a good option.

Just got takeout - Panang curry and massamon curry. Both were dishes were awesome. Will definitely be back. 1 dinner is probably enough for 2 to share. Staff was very friendly.

Today was my very first thai food experience! Can you believe it? 9 years as a vegetarian and I've never had a Pad Thai? Ever? I sure can't imagine how I've lived without it after today. This is my last week at my summer job (sniff) and we decided to do something fun before the program ends. This meant ordering out from "not one of the usuals." The boss suggested Mama Thai and we all went with it. Everyone's food smelled delicious- unfortunately I had a business disregard my lactose intolerance earlier in the day which lead to a migraine. That meant I could only take a few bites. However, I had the remainder of my food just now for dinner. Awesome! I had a pad thai and one vegetable egg roll. In addition to my first thai food experience, it was also my first experience eating tofu. I know...I know... I'm a sucky vegetarian. But I've seen the light and I'm not going back! My boss said they also make a mean spicy pad thai. I had no idea there was such a thing and next time I will definitely be ordering that. However, I'm glad I looked at their website online before I went in to work today and noted that vegetarians need to specifically request their food not be made with chicken broth. I wouldn't have known otherwise and would have been very upset if I found out I was eating chicken broth. So, I think that's a very important thing to know if you're vegetarian/vegan!

Take out items ordered for the family: Tofu Khee Mao--great flavor, I liked how they asked if we wanted it Mild, Medium Spice or Heavy Spice. Opted for the Medium and it was great. It was spicy but didn't over-power the dish. Chicken Asparagus--to be honest, I didn't try this dish but it was made with fresh veggies and hubsbie liked it. Said the Asparagus wasn't over-cooked and the dish had a good flavor. Rama Chicken (Chicken and broccoli in a peanut sauce)--I loved this. if you like peanut sauce, this is one for you to try. Lots of chicken and broccoli and again, the broccoli wasn't overcooked, still had a nice snap to it--the way I like it. Shrimp Fried Rice--very good, not greasy, big pieces of shrimp. Take out service was fast! Even though I ordered in the restaurant. I didn't have to wait long--oh perhaps 10 minutes. Maybe because the the restaurant was empty--only one table was occupied. It was very nice inside. I'd definitely come back and dine in.

So having gone from living in an area with about 6 great Thai joints, it was part of our mission to find a great new haunt. The burning questions: Where is there a good bowl of tom yum? And where can I get a good pad thai? Mama Thai turned out to be a good middle-of-the-road to better in show, Thai place. The Tom Yum has enough flavor going on to keep it interesting (get it extra spicy for a good freak show) and the Pad Thai is definitely up there in quality. For something fun and a little different the Vietnamese Shrimp Roll is one of the better ones I've had and the BBQ pork noodle is a really subtle but delicious alternative to the pad thai. I'm definitely a fan and order there about two times a month
(4)Kelly M.
The peanut sauce was amazing and just a hint of spice! The chicken rama and pad thai was very delicious. The delivery service was quick and efficient. I would order from here again especially because they deliver and the delivery fee was reasonable.

"Simply Asian" from Dominick's is by far cheaper and 10x better than what I got. Horrible service. Don't understand what you're ordering. And the food doesn't taste anything like Thai food. The vegetables tasted like they weren't washed in the mud they were in. I'm a huge Thai food fan, but this should not even be classified as Thai. Horrible food. Ended up eating McDonald's.

I travel to the Lombard area each week. I was looking for a decent Thai place to order food from and tried Mama Thai on a whim. The Pad Khee Mao and cucumber salad were both delicious. Their spicy is not very spicy (by comparison to my go-to Thai places in DC). Definitely enjoyable.

where's the spice??!! very fresh, good food...but it's not Thai without it. The Tom Yum with shrimp was tasty, and the shrimp, super fresh. eggrolls were worth a try..super cute served on a mini canoe. Ordered up the ginger chicken, but ended up swapping with my husband, for his noodles - quite good! took some Pad Thai home for my daughter, of course had to sample! Good...but wasnt as flavorful as it should have been. Not to say we wouldn't eat there again...place has a lot going for them. decent food, good service and bargain prices..and it's byob, which we'll do next time. ;)

Very disappointing experience. I read reviews and it sounded pretty good so I decided to try it out. I dined in and was surprised at the empty restaurant because it was 6:30 on a Saturday night. I was impressed with how quickly my appetizer of egg rolls came out until I bit into it. It was frozen in the middle! I sent them back and did not want a replacement since the food should be done soon. I debated leaving but was really hungry and was hoping dinner would be better. Although it was fully cooked it was almost equally disappointing. The chicken was rubbery and slimey at least the noodles were decent. Service turned slow because the two people running the place were busy playing games on their phones. My advice- don't dine in at this restaurant!

Delish little Thai place hidden away in a strip mall. All the favorites served quickly and neatly. Convenient small parking lot.

We went there last sunday around 3. The restaurant was empty, which was a bad sign to begin with. We ordered chicken wings, chicken satay and tom yum tofu soup. The chicken satay was good, but the chicken wings had a strange smell. The Smell was so pungent, that we could not eat it. The tom yum soup order was messed up and she brought chicken instead of tofu. The soup was good, but the chicken smelt and I informed the waitress about it. We then ordered padkeemow as our main dish and it was good. We ordered a kao soy to go, and when we had it at home, again the chicken was so bad. They just put the chicken in it, half cooked. I will not recommend this restaurant.

Vegetarians beware! While the portions were satisfying, the food was not exactly up to par. The spring rolls were less-than-fresh. We ordered the red curry with tofu because I was with a vegetarian. When it came out we asked if there was any meat stock in the dish and we were told there was chicken broth in it. When we told them we can't eat chicken broth, they told us there actually wasn't any chicken broth in it (saying they got confused). Make of that what you will.

I decided to give this place a shot and got take out from here. I ordered crab rangoon and beef pad see ew (sp?). My total was a 15 and change. My fav thai place is Thipi Thai in Glen Ellyn (and LaGrange) and I think Mama Thai's is pretty comparable. Mama Thai is also a little cheaper than Thipi Thai - a definite plus (entrees are about a buck or two cheaper). I thought the crab rangoon (6) were tasty and I enjoyed my pad see ew however I would have liked a tad more sweetness. The menu says their pot stickers are chicken instead of your usual pork so I passed on ordering those...maybe next time. The restaurant is not that big but it looks nice enough. It was not busy when I went (sort of early) so I was getting the stink eye from the gang of Asians sitting at the corner table. I read that this place is BYOB...which is nice b/c there are not a lot of those in the burbs. I think Thipi Thai is SLIGHTLY better (mostly due to those damn heavenly deep fried pot stickers) but will definitly try this place again.

The food here is delicious! Great service and a nice variety of dishes to choose from. Drinks are excellent also. Definitely give them a try, I love this place.
(5)Bradley S.
The food has more flavor than most stripmall Thai places I have been to. Definitely would go again. Service was very good and atmosphere is about what you would expect from your standard nonfancy Thai restaurant.
(4)Pierre D.
I would give Mamathai a solid 3.5/5.0. The pad khee mao beef is very good. Very tasty, fresh ingredients, however they do charge a little too much for additions, such as egg and when they do they don't put a lot in the dish. The spice level can really vary depending on the day you visit. The curries are a little too watery, however the flavor for the most part is good.

3 stars. I went during the lunch hour and decided to eat in rather than get carry out. For $6.95, I got an appetizer, soup, and entree. I chose the egg roll as my app. It was just okay. Waaaay too much black pepper for my taste. You don't get a choice for the soup; they offer a soup of the day. It smelled good. Looked weird. The server never came over so I didn't get to ask her about the ingredients, so I passed. My entree was pad see ewe with chicken. Not bad. But not delicious either. I ate it but didn't fully enjoy. Definitely won't be rushing to get back here anytime soon. Sorry!

My review is a compilation based on recently eating at this Lombard location after always eating at the one in Oak Park for years. Friday nite, and I'm picking up my takeout order of tofu pad see eiw, and it's empty! That's really disappointing. The Oak Park location is always near capacity, lunch or dinner time, whenever they are open! Food is always spot on. This tofu I'm munching on right now is perfectly done (not tough/overcooked or slurpy/undercooked). It tastes exactly like I would expect from Mama Thai Oak Park. I'm only here for one nite, so I don't have time to sample more of the food, but basing this review on my experience w/ a lot more of the menu in Oak Park, it's really a shame this place isn't full. It's worth the craziness of Roosevelt Rd to taste great Thai food. There's either a far better Thai food in this neighborhood or maybe you don't know how this place is tucked away on Roosevelt. Either way, fill this place up Yelp!

First of all I drove by and the restaurant was empty and closed. The last time I was there, about 6 months ago the restaurant smelled like mold and mildew. I questioned it but no one could understand. I adore Thai food and this place at one time was just fair but obviously hit hard times. Bathroom was filthy and moldy also.

Can't beat the good deal for weekday lunch special. $6.95 for 2 potstickers, soup, and chicken Khee Mao, but there was a good number of typical Thai dishes to choose from. Asked for it to be spicy and the waitress told me it was. Food came out and turns out the Khee Mao is not spicy. Asked for hot sauce and she brought out the caddy of chili sauces. It was still delicious and the portion size was surprising big for the price. 2nd time we ate here, the lady had her hair up in rollers and shower cap. Wondered if we walked in a salon. Pretty unprofessional. Reason why I gave it a 3 star was cause of the service. Or lack of service. The hostess/waitress looked so unhappy! While we eat and wait for her to refill our water glass she was on her phone. We had to wait for her to look up from the phone to get our check.

Egg roll apps were good, Mongolian beef not so much, needed seasoning'. If you had to go here I would recommend the curry dishes

Lived in Oak Park for 10 years and would frequently go to that location. Service and food was good. Moved to the Western Burbs and the Lombard location is about 10 minutes from our home so we thought we would try. The girl on the phone was incredibly RUDE. Asked for Cashew Chicken but said I would like Tofu instead. The attitude I received from her because I should just say Cashew Tofu. I do not order Thai food every day and you are not Starbucks. Do I need to know how to place an order the way you think is proper? The conversation continued to go south from there. Never was able to try the food, which is sad. My advice for the girl on the phone....... Good Luck!

I was really in the mood for some tom yum soup, which is always good for what ails me. Mama Thai was on my way home, more or less, so it seemed like a logical place to try. While I was at it, I threw in some tofu pad thai, which was big enough that I had, score, leftovers. (I appreciated that when I ordered tofu, he asked if egg was OK -- presumably in case I was ordering for a vegan.) The restaurant itself is cuter than you might think, although I was a little put off by the cluttered-up bar area and visible HVAC ventilation. But I was going for take-out, so no matter. My food was ready pretty fast and packaged well. Still nice and hot when I got home. The tom yum soup was overall pretty tasty, with that lovely hot-sour combination (though not as spicy as some I've had). It was jam-packed with mushrooms and not much else in the veggie family, and had three large pieces of lemongrass in it. Now, I love the flavor of lemongrass, but it's not something I really want to chew on. The pad thai was about average, I'd say. The tofu was a little dried out and the sauce wasn't super peanutty. But it had a good amount of veggies and the noodles were well-cooked. I would be happy to give Mama Thai another try, especially since I'm not sure how many other Thai restaurants are nearby, but I wasn't blown away.

These 4 stars were earned fo sho! My BTF's and I dined here on Friday night. We were feeling like some Thai food and not feeling like getting all dressed up so we decided to hit up Mama Thia recommend by Candice G. It located in a tiny sort of shady strip mall but what the hell its worth being scared for a second.Once you enter its a nice clean restaurant. We were seated right away.At that point we realized by the bottles of wine on fellow customers tables that its BYOB! Damn we missed out but not next time. We started out with the vegetable egg rolls and the cucumber salad. The egg rolls were very good but tiny and only 3 came in an order. We were some hungry honeys so it didnt really cut it.The cucumber salad was unique usually cucumber salad is just sweet and delicious but this was sweet, delicious and spicy! Luv it! For my entree I got the khee ma with tofu extra spicy and we shared the red curry fried rice. The entrees each came out at different times a little weird but they made a good decision to bring out the fried rice first, which was outa this world! Seriously probably the best I've had.Actually Ive never had curry fried rice but I can almost guarantee this is the bestest. My entree was really good coulda used a couple more veggies but I was so full it didnt matter. My friends was so hot she drank a whole pitcher of water herself! The wait staff was super sweet! The one lady was chit chatting it up with us and continually complimented me on my hair so right there I loved her.The prices were great also I highly recommend trying this lil place out.Oh yea they also have carry out and some great lunch specials
(4)Michael R.
Based on the two times I've eaten at Mama Thai I can say the food is good but not great. We've tried the Pad Thai tofu which was a bit noodle-heavy and while the tofu was tasty there wasn't quite enough of it. Also while the flavor was good, it lacked kick. The peanut sauce was very good but on the oily side. We also tried the Mama Thai Noodle, which is crispy noodles, seafood and veggies with gravy. The amount and variety of seafood was very good and the crispy noodles a nice touch, but the flavor borders on bland. Again, no real kick to it. Service is very friendly and attentive. The interior is comfortable but nothing special. We prefer their Oak Park restaurant.

I was gonna dish out 4 stars 'cause the BFs Green curry with tofu kinda rocked my socks off but I'm not ready to forgive for my not-so-spicy basil. Here's the deal, I'm sick and I need some f*cking Thai food like it's nobody's biznast. Screw chicken noodle soup, screw ginger ale... okay, I didn't mean that, don't screw ginger ale. It's a delicious and refreshing beverage and the fine people at Canada Dry have worked very hard to perfect it. But I stand by my screw chicken noodle soup statement. Anyway, the BF was nice enough to pick up some Thai food so we could be happy and well nourished for the LOST season premiere tonight (Team John Locke 4 life!). Why not try somewhere new and a little more convenient for the drive from Lombard to Naperville? We normally always get Thai food carry out on Wednesdays from Bangkok Village in Naperville but finding parking to pick up is a pain in the azz.... though my BF does love making convo with his "girlfriend" who works there. Nothing gives him a glow like walking in, seeing our bag 'o Thai waiting, and having her recognize him with open arms and call him by name. Lucky for him, the Tuesday Gods were smiling upon his soul because as he walked into Mama Thai, from which we've never gotten food before, he sees his lady standing there. Turns out, she works at Bangkok on Wednesdays and at Mama Thai on Tuesdays. What a serendipitous reunion. Please note that they don't have the same owners, the food tastes different, and the prices are cheaper... in case you were wondering. Anyway, the fried tofu was okay but the peanut sauce that came with it was great and they give you a decent portion. For dinner I got my usual, spicy basil with tofu. It was kind of a let down... okay it was defo a let down. There was a crap ton of tofu, 3 uber thin (skinnier than a pencil) slices of red pepper, 4 uber thin slices of green pepper, a couple mushroom pieces, and no where near enough of the chili sauce. PS- it was not spicy, not at all... in fact I almost thought they just put in a spoonful of chili sauce and added water. So sad was I and so dry was my spicy basil. I mean, maybe this dish is a good deal if you get it with meat and they load it up, but for tofu it just wasn't all that and actually would have liked a bag o' chips afterward. And there's no way that side of rice was fresh... but then again, the meal was way cheaper here than at my Wednesday night place. I'll defo try it again, maybe I'll be very specific next time and ask for extra chili sauce, more veggies, less tofu, and please DO NOT forget the spice.
(3)Matine Y.
I love this place. I've been coming here for about 3 years now. The prices are good and portions are big. They have a dine in lunch special for around 7 bucks you get your main dish, appetizer, and soup of the day. Its a pretty good deal. On a sour note though I stopped in on saturday 01/07 and picked up some food and it was very bland. I'm wondering if they had a new chef in the kitchen. If so I might not be a fan of this place anymore. I'll give it another shot later on this week.
(4)Miriam W.
This is very average Thai...I've had worse, but had alot better. We ordered the Pad Kee Mao and Pad Thai, and both felt they were just so-so. In the area, Thai Sawasdee and Basai Thai are both much better.
