My visit to Sonic has been a long time coming. . . . In Florida on TWO separate occasions our rental GPS has FAILED to locate a legitimate Sonic. On one trip it took us to four locations, each one was either the silhouette of what once was a sonic or literally a pile of dirt :( So after watching 1627,83,628,157,625,321 Sonic commercials, me and my bf decided to make the trip to one. 42.5 miles and 45 minutes later we arrived at this wonderous site. Mind you, I have never been to sonic before, so we actually had to pause before we entered the parking lot to figure out what was going on. So we drove up to one of the menus where you order and pay and took about 8.5 minutes to decide: - Corn dogs for 99 cents!!!! - can't beat that - Chili cheese tater tots - 2 large ones please - Super Sonic Cheeseburger - eh-okay - Super Sonic Jalapeno Burger - same as above but w/ jalapenos, eh - Jalapeno Poppers - mmmmmmm - Sonic Jr Hamburger - okay for a dollar - Small plain tater tots for a dollar :) There were no people on roller skates or anything - just a person in a blue or purple jacket that comes out with your order (they were nice though - the people i mean). I'm always shocked when teenagers work at fast food places (it;s like on tv and movies) it makes me think of the guy in the Simpsons with the pimples and high voice (since in Chicago, a variety of ages work at fast food joints). We didn;t know whether to drive away or eat there, we assumed you were supposed to eat in the spot you're in (or else you would've goine through the drive THRU - right?). We forgot to order more stuff for some friends who couldnt make the road trip there. We didn;t wanna cause trouble on our first visit so we didnt re-order there, we just drove through the drive thru hoping they wouldnt recognize us. . . . Was it worth the mini road trip? YES. Would I do it again? Not anytime soon but yes.

Four stars for the experience, but five stars for the patty melt with cheddar cheese and the banana cream pie shake. I won't lie - I was a little disappointed. The commercials create a lot of hype about the place, and it just seemed mediocre to me. Obviously, this was my first time at a Sonic. The cheese tots are ok, the cheese isn't melty enough! The biscuit dippers or whatever it's called (mini sausage patties on biscuits with gravy dipping sauce) were alright. The cherry limeade that my sister ordered wasn't what we were expecting. I got a watermelon freeze, which was my first win on choosing for the night. We all got patty melts with cheddar cheese - an extremely wise choice! It was super tasty. It kind of reminded me of Steak N Shake burgers. I then chose the banana cream pie shake which was my extreme win for the night! My dining companions covered their shakes back up and ordered on of those for themselves (after eating half of mine!). Overall, it was a fun experience. I would go back, but not for a while. That's why Sonic is so great - we can't easily access it!

I have never been to a Sonic so this was a first, This one is kinda in the boonies, so if you go at night it looks like the circus has come to town, with all the different colored lights and such, I went to the drive thru, and was treated friendly, even at the window the young girl was super polite, I ordered a cheeseburger and fries with a coke, about $4.00, I like the foil bags that they put the stuff in, it keeps them warm, The burger was the way I remember McDonald's used to be, when they still tasted like hamburger, It was very flavor full, The fries were like burger King not so good, the coke was acidly not mixed very well, but I would go back just for the burgers.

OK, so this was my first time at this Sonic and it was JUST alright. I didn't know they had a drive thru because I always sit at the drive-in. Anyways I went through the drive thru and the guy who took my order was really getting on my nerves. It took over 3 minutes just to have my order taken. While he was taking my order he just kept saying OK after everything I said which is really annoying. I asked for a cheeseburger he said OK, I asked for an ocean water he said OK, I asked for a snicker blast he said OK, and I asked for a 3 piece chicken strip and he said OK. He never once asked if I wanted anything else he just said the total and that was it. He never told me to pull around or never said thank you. By that time I was just ready to get out of there. When I got to the window the girl just took my payment, handed me my food and closed the window. She never once asked if I needed a cup holder and she didn't give me one of my drinks. I had to remind her that I had another drink. She just said 'Oh, sorry' and handed me the drink and closed the window again. It wasn't a total bad experience, but I definitely had better.

The kids that work here are always friendly and helpful so that is always a thumbs up in my book. Food prices are okay and the food itself is good. Overall good experience on numerous occasions. Only issue is last time I went there; there was about 100 high school kids from Lockport High swarming around for our duration there. No exaggeration - 100 at least. Most were well behaved but of course there were the dumbbell, goof off kids jumping in front of cars near the drive in side and running around screaming and yelling. It was so loud with all of them there so it was a damper on our experience.

Im in the middle, I had the coolest waitress here dining outside, and the most rudest person in the drive through, so bad I only do walk up now. Typical sonic food, catch their specials for good deals. sonicdotcom

I got a little excited to try sonic as I've never been. I suppose I should have tried the drive-in but I was on the clock so I went through drive-thru. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with fries on the side. The burger was alright, but I think I'll try something else next time. The fries were a bit greasy too, maybe I should of ordered onion rings instead. Overall, I think next time I'm in the area, I'll probably pass on Sonic and try another restaurant in the area.

My husband and I FINALLY decided to try a Sonic Drive In. What a time-wasted disaster! We both ordered the chicken sandwiches; I had french fries and he had tots. Both of our sides were cold because we literally waited a little over 30 minutes for our food. There were moments during this time that we were going to leave; but we figured we had already ordered and it probably would only take another short while. Boy, were we wrong. We should have left after 10 minutes. For our "troubles", we received a $5 coupon toward our next visit. We immediately gave it away to another Sonic patron. We won't be coming here again.

Got to Sonic at 8:30 pm and parked, then ordered a plain double cheese burger, tots, and 2 shakes for me and my girlfriend. At 9:00 we decided to call again and were told our food would be out soon. It was pretty busy so we thought it was just taking awhile. At 9:10 we got our food and the shake seemed a little runny, the burger was not plain, and both the burger and tots were cold. We sent the burger and tots back and then got new food and a $5 gift card at 9:20. So it took about 50 minutes for a pretty small amount of food at a "fast" food restaurant. They obviously just forgot about us and were not considerate enough to just give us the meal free or warm the first time around, definitely won't be returning to this establishment.

Have not been impressed with any of the Sonics up here in the Chicagoland area. This one is especially bad. Bad service bad food that's my opinion. only cool thing is the drive up service. Try it once and you will probably agree with me

Sonic is a nice change of pace from the typical fast foods around here. I took them for granted when I lived in TX, where they're everywhere; now that they're scarce in the Chicago area, it's a fun treat to go to the drive-in with their huge array of drinks, desserts and retro menu items. This Sonic has not only the usual drive-in experience, but also a drive-through, and also an outdoor seating area, so you've got many dining options. My boyfriend had never eaten at a Sonic so I felt the need to indoctrinate him in its ways. The huge menu board can be somewhat boggling with all its colors and combos, but gladly if you do the drive-in experience you get all the time you want to look before pressing the "Order" button; no pressure! We both got burgers (my boyfriend thought this was reminiscent of Whataburger, another regional chain) and tater tots, and I got my beloved cherry limeade (only saw after the fact that they now have a *cranberry* limeade as well -- next time!) and he tried a Pineapple Limeade Chiller, which was the win of the day. I thought this would be like a slushy thing but it's got soft-serve blended into it too. (The flavors would make for a good slush, though.) The one menu item I really miss that Sonic hasn't had for some years now is from their old breakfast menu: the Pancake on a Stick. Think breakfast corn dog (sweetened pancake batter dipped onto a breakfast sausage). Now everything on their breakfast menu pretty much revolves around eggs (breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches etc.) -- yuck. Wish there were more Sonics around, but for now they make for a nice treat. If you're in Lockport, swing in for a blast from the past.

Waaaaaaa, I love the Sonic commercials. Lockports newest of many to come fast food places is a huge hit. I was there when it first opened and the line to just pull your car in and eat at the pull up was huge! Drive thru not much better! I think that they offer a great variety of everything at a great price. I will be back!!!!!
(4)Andy M.
The food was cold and the service took forever. I think this place is better off staying away from the area
