My girlfriends & I went on Fri night. We were told it would be 30 minutes. An hour later I ask the the hostess when will we be seated & she said soon. Another 30 minutes later we are finally seated but not until I complained! You would think that after waiting 11/2 hours that we would get good seats, but they took us to the bar area with wall to wall people standing. They had the nerve to try & seat us in the middle of a crowd! I complained & demanded to get better seats after waiting so long. After all that, the food was below average! My fish was overcooked & their rice was awful. My girlfriends were not pleased w/ the dinners either. And our calamari was rubbery!

*Ratings and Highlights* Ambiance: 4.5 / 5 - Casual yet cozy Service: 4.5 / 5 - We were helped by 5 different staff members Food Quality: 4.5 / 5 - Fresh, flavorful, satisfying Value: 4.5 / 5. Dinner for two, consisting of soup, two heavy appetizers, a burger, and a slice of cake, with 3 alcoholic drinks, totaled approximately $50 before tip. Overall: If Yelp offered half star ratings, this would have definitely been a 4.5. *The Juicy Details* After seeing the brightly lit sign many times in passing along my travels, I finally made plans to check out Wheatstack last week. I brought along my Better Half (BH) to serve as both my dinner companion and as my specialist for all things spicy and beer. The restaurant is adjacent to the River Bend golf course. The exterior/interior of the building are visually appealing, with emphasis on pastoral colors (green, gold, brown) which complement the wheat theme and pair well with the golf club atmosphere. The interior layout offers both a pub section with a sports bar setup and a dining section with an open dining room containing a combination of booth and table seating. There is also outdoor seating on the back (West facing) deck. I would describe the atmosphere as a mid-range casual setting; jeans/khakis, t-shirts/polo shirts/blouses all mix well in this crowd. The lighting in the dining area is not very bright, but is compensated by several large windows which just weren't showing their full potential on this rainy evening. The dining area had Top 40 music playing softly in the background while on the bar side, the sounds of sports from the television rose above the din of bar chatter. We arrived at approximately 7pm on a Wednesday. The hostess asked us whether we would prefer to be in the bar or dining area, and we opted for the latter. When we selected the one vacant booth which had not yet been reset from the last customers, the hostess promptly cleared and reset the table herself and we were seated that same minute in our desired spot. Within 5 minutes of being seated, our drink orders were placed - I ordered the red blend, while my BH selected a pre-prohibition beer on tap. Both were suitable choices based on our personal preferences. For dinner, we ordered a cup of the homemade chicken noodle soup, 10 chicken wings with the spicy thai sauce (capitalizing on the 49-cent wing special), an order of the (loaded) nachos w/ beef, and the buffalo burger. The soup arrived within 60 seconds of our order being placed and tasted newly made, as the menu purported. It was refreshingly simple yet satisfying with chunks of white meat chicken, carrots, celery and a unique spin on the traditional noodle - a thin (possibly angel hair) pasta. Next up were the wings. These wings were the highlight of the evening in terms of cuisine - meaty and juicy chicken perfectly glazed in a savory, sweet yet tangy sauce. The heat in the sauce was perfectly paired with the neutralizing creaminess of the homemade peppercorn ranch dip that accompanied it. I could continue gushing about the wings for several paragraphs but suffice it to say, I could make a worthwhile trip to Wheatstack for these wings alone. At the point that we finished these delicious wings, we entered the one and only break in the service continuity of the evening - for about 8 minutes, we were left with nothing but our waters and each other to focus our attention on, which in the scheme of things is minuscule. In any event, that tiny blip in the flow of the evening was easily overcome by the otherwise outstanding attentiveness and pleasant demeanor of the servers, manager and staff. When the main course (burger and nachos platter) arrived, they were served hot. The burger was adorned with traditional produce toppings, sans sauce. Being a native New Yorker, I naturally tried ketchup first, but ended up requesting a side of the peppercorn ranch and applied that instead, to my taste buds' delight. The burger was cooked to juicy perfection and the waitress' medium rare recommendation was most certainly the right call. The nachos platter, fielded by my BH, were less noteworthy - though a generous portion of tricolor nachos with all the fixings, they did not possess the same wow factor as the burger, and paled in comparison to the wings that had stolen the show earlier in the evening. The vanilla bean cheesecake, on the other hand, turned out to be very creamy and rich, though not overly so, and definitely provided a nice finale to a satisfying dining experience. *Bottom Line* Wheatstack provides a great setting for a casual date night or social gathering. The separate bar and dining areas offers the ability to calibrate your experience either towards a more sports bar vibe or a more sit-down restaurant feel. Overall, Wheatstack delivers solid service and quality food at a reasonable price in a convenient location. My BH and I will definitely be back to explore the menu further, and to experience those wings again.

They have a fish fry on Fridays, ok? So I asked for it. The waitress brought over fish and chips. I noticed around the other tables that everybody else had fish and fries and a lemon wedge with their fish, not chips. So I asked, why don't I the same? She said I had to ask for it. Really??? I have to ask for a lemon wedge??? I never heard of such a thing. I gave her a $1.95 for a tip and got the hell up out of there! I won't be returning. I rather go to Long John's Silver!

Service was great! Both the hostess and waitress were very friendly. Good selection of tap & bottled beers. Several of us also enjoyed the sangria. I'd give the food a B. Crab cakes - tasty but not very warm Bruschetta - excellent! Wheat Stacker sandwich - pulled pork, ham, provolone, spicy mayo on ciabatta - pork was a little dry, could have use more mayo in general, the bun was perfect Steak sandwich - yum!!! Lemon chicken - good, could have used a little more flavor

Noisiest place ever! Waitress told us the loud mouths were local firemen! Very disappointing.

Disappointed. First of all, I thought this is the place we had Mother's Day brunch at 2 years ago, but the minute we walked in this morning I realized we were at a different place. I now realize that 2 years ago we were at Seven Bridges for their Mother's Day brunch. At Seven Bridges 2 years ago, when we walked in, we were greeted by 2 smiling staff members who handed all the mother's a rose. That would have been a nice touch today at Wheatstack. At Seven Bridges, the room where people dined was huge and very spread out and there were so many choices of food at different stations spread out through 2-3 rooms so you never had to wait in a line. However, today it felt very tight and cramped today at Wheatstack. Our waitress never even said Happy Mother's Day nor did she appear too thrilled to be waiting on us or to be there this morning. Perhaps if Wheatstack allowed their servers to earn their tip by good service instead of implementing an automatic unwritten/unspoken 18% service charge on the bill, their servers would try to work harder at earning the gratuity. Instead, it appeared like they were treating the day like a cafeteria and our server clearly wanted to have no interaction. There was a blonde server with straight hair pulled back into a pony tail that seemed to be doing really well with her tables and talking/being friendly. Unfortunately, we had almost not communication with our server. She even scolded my mother for leaving her fork on her plate when she was trying to clear it. God forbid she had to give her a clean, new fork. Today, there were 25 large tables at least in the room and you had to squeeze by people to get out of the room to get to the food room. There was only a u-shaped row of tables put together for the food. So you had to wait in a line for food every time. The eggs benedict container was empty at it was only 10 minutes after the 9am seating and didn't appear it was known it was empty by staff. Now here is what irks me the most. Below is the description from Wheatstack's website about what is included in the price. OK, they don't mention OJ is included (I realize that now.....but come on.....we were charged for 4 OJ's which were in small tumbler glasses for $2.50 each). It is brunch. I have NEVER been to a brunch where OJ and Mimosa's were not included. We also ordered 3 mimosas which we found out were $5.00 each. I see that is in the description below, but we didn't realize it until we got the bill. On top of it, they added 18% gratuity (they called it a service charge). When we were at Seven Bridges 2 years ago, we had a dedicated waitress who was constantly refilling water, coffee, OJ, plates and checked on us. Today at Wheatstack, our waitress was not very friendly and took our initial drink order and we didn't see her again for at least 30 minutes at our table. We had to flag her down to get refills on drinks. I asked for an OJ and she started to walk away without asking the others at my table if they would like anything. My sister attempted to ask for a coffee 3 times before I finally practically yelled it as she was walking away. So you can imagine my frustration for a $25 service charge being applied when I don't feel it was earned. At Seven Bridges 2 years ago, we gave the gratuity we felt was deserved and we gladly gave our server $25 (and we only had 4 people then). Our bill with their service charge plus 3 mimosas, 4 OJs, for 4 adults plus one child came to $162. Had the food and service been good, I would be happy to have paid this amount. Today was very disappointing. The food was just OK and the service was severely lacking. Around 11am I could tell the wanted people to clear out. It got really stuffy and hot in there which it was clear they had the A/C off and were trying to smoke the 9am seating out. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for brunches. I would never attempt to dine at their restaurant after this experience. Even the grounds/lawn at Seven Bridges are so much better kept. --------------------------------------------------Â--------------------------------------------------Â---- TREAT MOM! Made reservations for New Years Eve the person who answered the phone assured us they would have plenty of prime rib at 7:00. Needless.to say they were out we had a hamburger which was nothing specisl. The server was nice but not very attentive Will not go back.

We moved from the city to the burbs a few months ago and we have been trying new places to eat. Tonight we based our decision on a coupon from the Clipper Magazine. We were immediately seated in a booth which was nice. I had a rough day and told the girl I was in need of a cocktail. She brought me one and it was great. My boyfriend and I commented that the menu had quite a bit of options we were interested in. We weren't sure what to order and decided on a wedge salad, 2 cups of soup (chowder and chili), nachos, and calamari (weird combo we realized, but it was what we wanted). We got the salad it was great. We didn't get the soup for about another 15 minutes, my boy friend asked for no onions and it was piled high with onions and my clam chowder was cold. We then proceeded to wait about 40 minutes for soggy nachos and extremely salty and cold calamari. During this time I got another martini and we barely saw our waitress. We then had to wave down another waitress to get our bill. I went to the car and luckily I did because when my bf gave the girl our coupon she proceeded to say within ear shot, "They barely spent $50, ordered appetizers and have a coupon!" I worked in many restaurants while in college all of them much nicer places than this and I would have never given such poor service and at the very least wouldn't have topped the evening off with utter rudeness. The only reason we went there was due to the coupon, this is the point of marketing with coupons, to draw new people into your establishment and then you treat your patrons with such poor service and disrespect. Never again, too many options in the Chicagoland area for this mess.

You can never go wrong with this place! I've been here may times for lunch, dinner, and just for drinks. There are drink specials every day of the week such as half price bottle of wine night, and the food is always tasty, and the service is always up to par. They also have a decent selection of beers on tap and a nice selection of martinis to choose from. I've been here all hours of the day/night and I've never had to wait long to be seated and be served. Some of my favorites are the goat cheese salad and buffalo burger. It's nice to sit outside on the patio with a nice view of the golf course during the summer and sip their awesome sangria, and in the winter there is a fire place in both rooms which makes for great ambiance. You can almost always stumble upon a coupon for Wheatstack too in the clipper magazine or elsewhere.

My husband and I go regularly for their specials which are wonderful. Ribs, burgers, fish all very good. Once, I had the lemon chicken with vegetables. Chicken was tender, but veggies...seems to always be green beans and carrots...and taste like they were seasoned with butter flavored oil that you use to make popcorn. Not overcooked, but would rather have them plain than in this greasy oil. Outdoor patio is very nice, but facing west, so at dinner time the sun is in your eyes. We will continue to return. All staff very personable and attentive.

One of the best outdoor patios in the chicago area.

I stopped in here for a drink and appetizer with my husband. We were golfing at River Bend and Wheatstack is the perfect place to stop before a round of golf. We sat on the patio overlooking the golf course. Our server came to our table right away and explained the specials. We told her our tee time and she said she would put our order in right away. We ordered the blackened chicken quesadilla. It was a good size appetizer and perfect for sharing. Wheatstack has great drink and dinner specials. The patio is the perfect place for dinner or just drinks after a round of golf! I will definitely be back for the crab cakes!!

I don't really understand the appeal of this place. We have a lot of office "farewell" or "new employee" lunches here, I guess because they have a lot of space and take reservations. The food is nothing exciting and the service is terribly slow. They advertise that they have gluten free items, but when one person in our party was aking about options the server told her "anything white has gluten, right?" and then told her that some items that don't have gluten (rice) did have it, and items that do have gluten, don't. I ordered the "fresh garden pasta" and I don't know what goes on in that garden but it was extremely oily. The outside patio is nice, though last time I was out there, they were having a bit of a wasp problem. I know nature happens and is difficult to control, but it was pretty bad. The inside feels kind of scrungy. Their photos show while tablecloths, which I assume is for banquets because it's certainly not the norm, just old sticky wooden tables. This place wouldn't be a place I would choose to go.

Just adding to a previous review! We attended the dueling pianos event this weekend and had a blast! Food and service were stellar and really enjoyed the entertainment of the dueling pianos. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, is we were not made aware of the fee or ticket options. I called a few weeks early to make our reservation, but at no point told about the coat of the tickets. Not too big of a deal except we brought guests and hadn't given the heads up of extra cost.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch today. It was our first visit and we will definitely be back. I had the lemon chicken and my husband had the ribs and both were really good. Our server was Dina and wow! She was racing around between the inside and the patio yet had time to talk to us. She is a keeper. There are so many places to eat in the surrounding area but this experience will not only keep us coming back but we will recommend it to our friends.

Stopped in for lunch one day through the week. I ordered the potato soup to start, and it was thick and creamy and seasoned beautifully. I usually find soups to be too salty, but not this one. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with vegetables. What I really enjoyed about the wrap was that the chicken was grilled, and it was served with lots of lettuce that had a delicious dressing on it...almost like a salad in a wrap. Very tasty, and seemed healthy. The vegetables were green beans and carrots. They were drowning in butter, and way over-cooked. That was the only part of my meal that I did not care for. As for service, our waitress was fantastic. She was also the bartender, and she was the only person working. She had the bar area and the tables. Granted, it wasn't busy, but she was very attentive and helpful.

Came here last week for a family dinner. Everything was perfect except my mother in-laws salmon. I had the ribs and my boyfriend had the meatloaf which were both excellent!! We love that this place is just around the corner from our house and can't wait to try some of their specials either! :)
(4)Gail P.
We had dinner there on Friday night, my friend and I both had the "Fish Fry" special, which was all you could eat Lake Perch for $17.00. It was lightly battered, fried, but not greasy and the fish was flaky and excellent. My husband had the hamburger and my friend's husband had the stuffed burger, which they both enjoyed. I had the homemade chips, which were also very good. The clam chowder was the only thing that I did care for because it was too watery and lacked flavor. The service was very good amd we never waited very long for the two extra servings of the fish. The atmosphere was very good and the outdoor patio/deck have a wonderful view. The restauarant was full as well as the outdoor dining area. We will DEFINITELY go back!!!.
(5)Carol H.
Had a girls weekend, and one of the girls recommended this for lunch on Saturday. Sat out on the terrace. Awesome view, great wait staff (Sara), and the best tuna melt EVER!!. Love the specials that I see are offered. With good marketing, this place should be a new favorite. Thanks for a new memory with old friends!!

Came here with a book group recently and was really impressed. I have weird cravings sometimes, so what I ordered was admittedly bizarre, but all of it was great. I got the chicken noodle soup (very chock full of meat and noodles and perfectly cooked veggies with still a bit of crunch). Bonus points for two packs of oyster crackers on the side. Then I got an order of fries. So good! Perfectly crispy, not oily, none were mushy! For dessert I went with donut holes! Why not? The order is huge - it would easily feed four people. Freshly done, perfectly puffy and not oily either! Raspberry and chocolate sauce on the side and the holes have an expert dusting of cinnamon sugar on them. I'd haul out here again in a heartbeat! And - the staff graciously put all of our orders on separate checks, which is very unusual (and a pain, I know).

Just held a corporate dinner for 45 people. The manager Todd was great to work with. He helped me stay within budget with some nice pairings. I was a bit disappointed that their dessert menu was so pricey. I had a great dinner with an appetizer and it ended on a dull note because all my budget could handle after that nice meal was assorted cookies. My night manager or event director Kim was super!! I found I had to gentleman who needed glutend free meals and she was able to adjust their entrees without making them stand out or feel uncomfortable. The servers were great. Always on top of things and making sure that coffee came out right after dinner plates cleared, which was important. Just a few things shorted them that last star. The ambient lighting was too dark even with the lights up all the way. We had a few speeches and we needed to move the person around until they were properly "lit" so everybody could see them. My final gripe is that they won't set up a direct bill. I work for a university and the events I through even though they have RSVP s I still have surprise guests and to through a $1500 dinner on my credit card, which I know I will be reimbursed in two weeks still is a strain on my financial state, when the university could cut them a check by the end if the week if we were set up to direct bill. What stinks is that, I love using intimate and neighborhood restaurants, but the more they shy away from direct billing the university won't let me and other event planned use great places like wheatstack! Then I'm stuck with hotels and chain restaurants which doesn't boost our local vendors. I wish we could find some kind of halfwat point so we can still use them and they are equitably paid for their services. Done with my musings....PS my sister ate in the main room and had the crab cakes and she said they were moist and oh so good. She also brought home a piece of their chocolate cake...it was divine. Too sweet for one person but just right for two to share. The frosting wasn't gooey and the cake had nice thin players that were light and airy. The cake itself wasn't sweet, which was nice, the creamy frosting brought the sweetness. Yummy!

I was here for a luncheon and I was so impressed by how warm and welcoming the staff was throughout our afternoon. Everyone's glass was always half full, the food was excellent, and we had a beautiful view of the golf course. We enjoyed the chicken, mashed potatoes, and steamed vegetables. The chicken was VERY SPECIAL! Great crust, deep garlic and citrus flavor, and very moist. While we were there we all agreed that it would be a great location for a bridal shower, baby shower, or any luncheon for a large group. The room that we were in comfortably sat 50+ people, had a fireplace, and the view would be even more impressive in the spring.
(4)Michelle H.
I am not a fan of outdoor dining. Perhaps it is because the extent, up until now, of outdoor dining included a few lunches in the loop, accompanied by a bunch of homeless guys asking for food and change, and the wonderful smell of city bus exhaust. So when my dining companions decided on outdoor seating here, I did an inward cringe. Mistakenly so, since the patio here was absolutely charming. I'm no country-club type, but I must say that the view here was magnificent, overlooking lush and well kept greens, and a beautiful lake (or water trap, depending how you look at things.) It was at the end of August that we went here for a late lunch, and there were umbrellas over the tables for shade, and just enough breeze to keep the bugs at bay. So, if all outdoor dining could be like this, I'm game! Our server on this day was not only wonderfully nice, she did a great job keeping up in drinks. I always had a full glass of iced tea at the ready! The food matched the service when it comes to excellence. The 1/2 Reuben was just the right mix of meat, kraut, cheese, and 1,000 island as not to be too sloppy, nor too skimpy. I really enjoyed the grilled marble rye it was served on. I also had a cup of chicken soup which was homemade and delicious. By far the best part of the meal was my red-skinned potato salad. Something so simple, but yet delightfully delicious; quite possibly the best potato salad I have ever had. Since this place is fairly close to home, I need to try it out more often. I'm looking forward to trying out their seasonal Friday night fish fry, to see what it's like to eat inside, since I already know they have the patio down pat!

Always a quality meal for the price...but never certain on the service quality or how long it will take for someone to take the order or food to arrive
(4)Karen G.
It doesn't seem any different from when it was the View. See my review of that for outing of the secret forest trail. Stopped in on a saturday for quick drinks. Sangrai was only 5 bucks and it was really good. and the martinis were 8.50 and yummy. I had the rasberry lemon one and it was 2 tone pretty. It was odd to be told at 10 pm on a Saturday that it was last call. We would have stayed longer but why hang around anywhere without liquor?
(3)Jason O.
Another great meal here. The lemon chicken was awesome. Erin loved her vodka pasta as well. Kids also loved their food. We'll be back. Calamari was adequate for being bagged/frozen. Portion sizes and quality match the price.
(4)Joe D.
The outdoor patio is really nice and very large too. It has a great view of the golf course, with only really one small problem in that it faces west, into the afternoon sun. But the food was really a problem. As was the service. I was served an undercooked burger that was still cold to the touch. I informed our waitress and her response was that she would tell the kitchen. She left the burger on the table. She didn't ask if I desired another or something else. My date had a steak salad and her steak was over cooked. So one under cooked item and one over cooked. When we were finished eating our waitress asked if I wanted my under cooked burger wrapped to take home. Perhaps our food experience was unusual. But there is never an excuse for poor service. It's not worth trying a second time.

Great food. The service was amazing and there are plenty of options. The scenery is amazing as well. Great prices that are perfect for a date or a family.
(5)Yvonne M.
I've been here a couple of times and each time, it was good. Not 5 stars because it wasn't really anything special. The food options, taste, and service was good...not great. I like this place and will be back.
(4)Mike M.
This place has fast friendly service with a casula atmosphere.

After seeing a post on Chicago's Best TV and a Yelp ad... I thought I'd give their Friday fish fry a try. I was mislead to think they served perch for $10... it was nice juicy cod instead, I'm not a fan of their fresh potato chips and you barely receive 2 tablespoons of their bland coleslaw in a little plastic cup, this was not what I had envisioned. Their tarter sauce was nothing special and $2.50 for one pop was a bummer. It would have been nice to see a server check on you for a refill, before it's time to leave. Parking lot was packed near the building with golfers and the few spots marked for a 2 hour limit were full too. I have a hunch those premium spots are not monitored. The trek from the remote lot for dinner is a bitch. They need to shuttle you with a golf cart or at least valet. Dining outside is always a plus but I find service is often compromised. We were on a time line, we had decided on an early dinner with an early show. You'll be sitting out in the evening sun here, as the awning or umbrellas offer no help from the setting evening sun. Not what I had pictured and I'll probably avoid their other weekly offers.

I'm sad to give this place 2 stars because Lisle is my hometown and I'm always hoping some great restaurant will swoop in and paint the town red. However, I just don't think Wheatstack will be it! I went here for lunch once and got the Chicken Tender salad. It was great and huge. It better be for $14 dollars (which is ridiculous), I live in the city and can get the salad cheaper there! Anyways, I came here Friday with my family (party of 6) for the fish fry. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait. 50 minutes later...we were seated...ridiculous. We were STARVING by the time we got seated. 2 people ordered the fish fry, 3 just ordered the perch dinner, and me (not being a huge fish fan, but it's Lent so no meat) decided to get the chicken finger salad but asked for just 2 pieces of fish on top. I was told this would be a $6 up-charge. Your kidding, right? You just made me wait 50 minutes for a table and now you want to charge me $20 for a salad? Of course, I asked to speak to a manager. The manager (a man, can't remember his name) came over, explained why service was so slow and then said "What can I do to make this right, you name it" so then I asked for my salad with no up-charge. He said they would still have to charge me $2 extra dollars?! Why did you ask me what I wanted if you weren't going to give it to me? This is honestly the entire reason for the 2 star review. I hope the 2 dollars was worth it! He did end up comping our appetizers, but I was still annoyed. The fish fry was the slowest fish fry I've ever been to, my boyfriend had to ask for his beer 3 times, and the service was lackluster. They gave us a coupon to come back next time, but honestly, I will not return. If you want great reviews you need to have the customer service to go along with it.

I just had a baby shower for my daughter and fifty guests at Wheatstack. Everything was better than I could have imagined. From the food to the exceptional service, I could not have been happier. I highly recommend Wheatstack for any special event or just a lunch or dinner. Thank you so much for making my daughter's day so very special.

This is the replacement for The View. It is still working out the kinks, but it seemed like there was a better variety offered on the menu. The limited salad dressing selections was a dilemma for me. It is cozy and the fireplace is really great on a cold/cool night. They are offering movie night on Mondays starting June 6, so I think they are trying to become more family friendly. I'd be willing to go back and try one of the specials and check to see if things are now working well.
(3)Dan Z.
Once upon a time this used to be a great place to eat. We even had our office Christmas parties here several times over the years. Maybe i just can't get it out of my mind that this is not the same place it used to be, which was called The View. That was then and this is now. Now it's called The Wheatstack. Last night's dinner experience scarred me for life. The cod fish was rubbery, cold and undercooked; the coleslaw was awful the service was bad - oops, make that horrendous - wrong drinks were served, and the margaritas were were bitter. My wife said the potato salad should be renamed the onion salad. One gets the impression that young school children were let loose in the kitchen, creating their Easy-Bake masterpieces for all to enjoy. On the pro side it was close to home and this is a free country so I don't have to go back again. Trust me, I won't.

I was here for a private event recently, so this review is for their banquet food/service, but I have a hard time imagining the restaurant is much different. Everything about Wheatstack was unremarkable: the food, the service, and the view (which, from the banquet room off to the side was partially of a parking lot and then of the patio). We started off with bruschetta and stuffed button mushrooms. Neither were bad, but both added nothing special. There was no need to go up to the buffet for seconds. They were just...ordinary. The main course was lemon chicken, tilapia, and a plain, mixed salad with choice of 2 dressings. Again, not one of these was offensive, but not one of thee was particularly good. I'm not going to say the food was out of any box, as I'm not in the kitchen, but if that is all their culinary team has to offer, it's probably more cost efficient to get frozen lemon chicken and stuffed mushrooms at Costco and warm up some chafing dishes at home. The staff, while not rude or inattentive, exuded very little effort and wasn't always around to order drinks from when needed. I would not go there for any reason, unless it was, like this, the chosen venue for a friend/family's special occasion, and then, I would eat before I arrived.

Really good menu, and I've had some good beer there too. We've gone for lunch in the middle of winter, and also eaten on the patio during summer. It's a great place to go for a nice dinner or lunch that you may not have considered. It was also never too busy when we've gone.

We stopped in here over the weekend as we were looking for a place to have dinner before seeing a movie over at Seven Bridges. We stopped on a whim as all the places near the theater are terrible. I'm hoping this is our new go-to place. We had Chicken Parmesan and Pot Roast. Both were surprisingly good. The golf course was a nice view to.

I came here before when it had a different name, but didn't have a chance until recently. It was fantastic. I would have given it 5 stars back then. We tried a couple of dishes. The pasta dish was bland and had this weak watery sauce that just collected at the bottom of the dish. Between the two of us, we probably finished a quarter of it. I hate watery marinara-type sauces on pasta. The Portobello Mushroom sandwich was equally disappointing. It was also very bland and way too watery, but we split it and salted it up and was able to get it down. It'll be quite a while before I try this place again. On another note, it was loud as can be inside, so we opted to sit outside viewing the golf course. It was quite lovely and quiet back there and it is a shame the food was bad because it would be nice to eat out there from time to time. I thought my server was fantastic. It is also quite expensive. Add $5-10 on top of what you'd expect to pay elsewhere for most dishes.

Went here for first time on a Saturday night just for drinks. Great service, very friendly and attentive. They had dueling pianos going in the dining room and the Bulls game in the bar. Here's where they shine: my wife noticed the bartender making a special drink that looked good. We asked and were told it was a root beer float made with root beer schnapps. We commented that it looked good. Five minutes later the bartender brought a sample to our table in a short glass. We didn't ask for it. Now that is brilliant customer service.

We had Wheatstack catered in for a happy hour event in my office, and it was delicious! The meatballs were super juicy (I would assume that's how everyone likes them) and the soft pretzels were, well, soft! Can't wait to try their location in Lisle!

Very disappointed! We used to come here a lot when we lived in Lisle, even back when it was The View. This time we had a bad experience. Seven of us went for Father's Day dinner and only two of our group liked their food. The fish was cooked poorly - two people got the salmon, which was raw and had to be sent back. Unfortunately, my 10 year old got one of these and took several bites before I noticed. The tilapia was gray and flavorless, and the ribs were rated a "5 out of 10" by my father-in-law. Our server was nice, but the service in general was slow. Half our table's drink orders were brought out but it took another 10 minutes for the rest, even though it was just wine and soft drinks. The only good things about the meal were the view and the cupcakes! Sadly, we won't be coming back any time soon.

This place has a little bit of everything for everyone. It has beautiful outdoor seating as well as a bar and dining room. Food, drinks, and service well exceed your expectations! I highly recommend this place.

My husband and I have family in Downers Grove, IL and decided to try Wheatstack with some friends after the holidays with a great Groupon deal we found. We could not have been more impressed with the friendly service, delicious food, and warm ambiance. We all enjoyed dinner together on the evening of 12/28/11 where a waitress and trainee provided us with wonderful and attentive service. We had the blackened tilapia and vodka penne pasta along with a couple of appetizers and everything was absolutely delicious with generous portions. Although we enjoyed dinner at a leisurely pace, service was prompt and professional. We genuinely felt welcomed throughout the evening - never rushed. It is also a great place for families as we had a young child with us. I hope this Groupon deal attracts many new customers to this establishment as they have certainly won us over. We will definitely be back!!

Great view while sitting on the patio.

We used to eat here when it was The View - not because it was our favorite restaurant, but because its 1/4 mile from our house. The View couldn't decide what it wanted to be, and Wheatstack is closer but not quite there. It seems to be geared to American heartland type food - heavier food and beer (but who isn't focusing on that now?). The menu changed more than I expected, but it would be nice to see a couple of staples (grilled chicken salad etc) and some real innovative standouts. Even better would be to focus on local food. Service is better than The View - probably because the same manager who managed The View in its last couple of years is still there. Decor has been mildly revamped and reflects more arts and crafts style. We'll have to try this place in summer and see if the drunk golfers still dominate.

Went on a Friday with a large group that included a toddler. Because of the fish fry and the fact that it was a Friday night at dinnertime, we expected a wait, but were sat in the bar at a large table. The waitstaff was friendly. Some people might characterize the frequency of her service as "slow", but again, having worked in restaurants and bars over the years, I would just consider it busy. As for the food, I was happy with the steak sandwich I got. It was tasty and done exactly how I asked for it. There really is nothing more disappointing than having someone ask you how you want something cooked and then have them bring it to you the way the chef wanted it done. But I digress. Everyone was pretty happy with what they got. Two people had burgers, two others went with the stuffed pork loin special. All in all, a good visit. I'm sure we'll be back, next time I'll probably try to fish fry.

Pot roast is awesome. No wonder it is their house specialty.

My wife and I drive by Wheatstacks frequently and from the looks of the parking lot we thought this place has to be good. Well, I can only describe Wheatstacks with one word. "DISAPPOINTING"! This is a club house off the first tee. Thus all the parked cars. Prices are high and the service from the wait staff is poor at best.

I've been here on many occasions. I've never had a bad meal yet. The staff is more than accommodating and fun to be around. The reason Wheatstack really shines is their handing of my mothers funeral luncheon. The food was fabulous and Todd and his staff were more than sympathetic to our needs. They went way above and beyond what they need to do. I felt like family the way they treated us. Whether your looking for a place for lunch or dinner, or you have a banquet need, I can't speak highly enough about Wheatstack and Todd and his staff.

We went here for a late business lunch and the place was empty. There were a few tables full, a few people people at the bar and a few people sitting out on the patio. We took a table right by the patio. It offered a magnificent view of the adjacent golf course. The service here was top notch. Our server was very friendly and made us feel like we were in her dining room at home. The manager took some time to chat with us also treating us more like friends and family than patrons. Just by them going out of their way went a long way with me! I ordered something simple as I was only mildly hungry. I ordered a half chicken caesar wrap with a cup of soup. The chicken soup was very good and the wrap was also very good. It came on a wheat tortilla and was presented very attractively and filled with the right amount of stuff where it wasn't too skimpy or not falling apart. To make a great meal there are dozens of "little things" that need to taken care of with each table. Wheatstack carried each one out flawlessly!

First time visiting Wheatstack. Recommended by friend. Service was friendly and prompt. Very neat and clean table and floors.Server was friendly and efficient. Good menu choices.Excellent burger-homemade potato chips. Atmosphere -overlooking golf course, cozy fireplace. A comfortable home like feeling. Manager stopped at table to check on food and service. Not rushed to finish and leave. Plan to return. Friend who recommended Wheatstack raved about shower she attended there recently. Will consider for future events.

Great artichoke app nice and cheesy I had the swordfish. It was Ok not great. They topped it with cold ceveche which chilled the hot fish. Decient beer selection for a small bar.
(2)Brittany B.
Poor atmosphere, sub par food, undrinkable martini, and they wouldn't honor the value of my expired Groupon. It clearly states the amount I paid ($32) never expires. Regardless, there is no reason to go back to this place.

good food and chill atmosphere with a fun beer selection

I wasn't a fan when it was The View and I'm still not. Bad service and misleading on the half price burgers on Monday, which was our whole reason for going.

I was at the Wheatstack in Lisle about three weeks ago for a rehearsal dinner for a wedding in which I was an attendant. On the way to the restaurant, I realized I forgot my wallet but then quickly realized I wouldn't need it because the groom's parents were paying for the evening. My date and I were two of the first to arrive - right after the groom's parents. Much to their dismay, they had reserved the bar, the patio, and the small dining room in between the two, but the bar and the patio were filled with other patrons. Instantly their possibility of their vision of hosting the perfect evening for their son, daughter in law to-be, and their friends and family became clouded with doubt. The staff's solution to this was to set up flimsy screens between the dining room and the bar area. The screens hindered our parties seating space and kept falling over and hitting guests. But mostly, the screens did not resolve the problem that our hosts only got 1/3 of the area they reserved for the evening. After some chitchat with our server about what wines and beers were available to us, my date and I placed our drink orders, and then our server asked to see our IDs. I was shocked because we are in our 30s and also was hit with the realization that I did not bring my wallet. The groom's parents vouched for me, but the server refused to serve me. I called someone to have them email me a copy of my ID, but even with that evidence in tow, the manager very brusquely told me "it's not happening." What started out to have the potential of a lovely evening celebrating a wedding party quickly became a cramped and unfriendly dinner (with average food) environment because of the lack of care and consideration from the staff at the Wheatstack in Lisle.
