Big fan of this place - we're here at least once a week in the summer. The gelato outstanding. Flavors change so you can always try something new. This place is worth a visit even if you have to go out of your way.

This is by far my favorite gelato place. Traviata makes their gelato fresh daily and the owner is so sweet. I love that it is a ten minute walk from my house. My mainstays are bacio (a chocolate hazelnut flavored gelato) and coconut, but if I am feeling adventurous I get the five bambino scoops with different flavors. My boyfriend is lactose intolerant, but will choose to suffer every now and then because it is so good. On most days he goes for the nice selection of sorbetto and Italian ice which are all dairy free. Most recently she made a chocolate sorbetto, which thrilled my boyfriend. However, we learned that there the little bit of milk in the dark chocolate hurt his tummy, so beware if you are dairy sensitive. They now accept credit cards, which is great, but may be a little pricey compared to Baskin Robbins. The gelato and sorbetto is super delicious, so you get what you pay for.

The 5 mini-scoop sampler is a great way to experience the gelato. It comes with a wafer cookie in the middle. My favorite flavor was the black cherry.

The owner, Violeta, is passionate about chocolate, and after attending a tasting of four grand cru hot chocolates, so am I. She prepared the chocolate simply with hot water and served it in tiny cups for a jolt of pure, intense, complex flavor. The Tanzanie Origine Rare 75% from East Africa was my favorite -- dark and fruity with an earthy overtone. Maracaibo 65% from Venezuela was a close second -- rounded and complex with a hint of cinnamon. She also stocks reasonably-priced gourmet chocolate truffles and omg turtles that she makes in small batches by hand. There was a good selection of gelato too and since I'd already exceeded a calorie record for the day I had a scoop of stracciatella that was deliciously full of tiny chocolate bits. Oh boy am I in trouble now that I've discovered this place.

this place should NOT be in walking distance to where I live!! haha Oh my gosh amazing Gelato! And the lady working is easily the sweetest person Ive ever met! this is a great little place, and I should stop going so much, or work out more haha

I read the reviews and all I could really understand was that there's a ton of hot chocolate, chocolate turtles, chocolate truffles, and gelato. So that's all the convincing I needed to drop by on my way home from work. Well, it's my new favorite hot chocolate place. I can't believe how complex, delicious, and aromatic the ancho chile hot chocolate was. I will never forget it and it has set the bar for all future hot chocolates. Since I was there I scoped out the gelato--wow that's a lot of amazing, creamy, delicious looking flavors! But since it's winter, I stuck with chocolate. I got a box of turtles and got a second one for half price, plus two baggies of candied orange rind covered in delicious dark chocolate. AMAZING. There's not enough good things I can say about their turtles: the delicately toasted pecans are perfect; the caramel is distinct, melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and slightly chewy; and the chocolate is pure, creamy, delicious, and rich. These have to be, hands down, the freshest turtles I've ever had. The mouthfeel, complexity of flavor, and varied textures make them perfect. I would consider purchasing these for any kind of hostess, girlfriend, birthday, holiday, etc., gift and giveaway. They're that amazing. I will definitely be back to try out all the other spiced hot chocolates, one at a time. Then later, in the summer, I plan on enjoying their famous multi-scoop gelato sampler. And I agree with the other reviewer: the lady behind the counter is one of the most charming, sweet, and graceful shop owners/attendants/managers ever. There is a private lot in this little strip mall/residential building. Prices are very approachable, enough to make visits often to my new favorite addiction!

We stopped here for a quick gelato treat after the Lisle Independence Day parade. We tried a variety of gelato and literally all of it was delicious! My personal favorite was the coconut. There were also chocolates that looked delicious, but we did not indulge. The service was very pleasant and quick. Definitely stop by to try some deliciousness!!!

Just need a little something sweet? Truffles, Italian pastries and various chocolates should do the trick. There's also full barista service, sandwiches and soup for carry out or dining in the casual cafe space. A must try if you are in downtown Lisle.

Small shop with a clear vision of what they are all about which is chocolate. I am not a huge chocolate guy but I have a weakness for hot chocolate however I am kind of picky about it. I want the milky not dark chocolately kind that I remember from my youth. Who knows if it really was like that but that's the kind I like. And that's the kind they have here. It's all I've tried but I would go out of my way to have it again. Hot chocolate for the kid in me and maybe in you?

I know next to nothing about the Opera La Traviata but I know LOTS about chocolate from years of eating it, YEARS I tell you! What I like about this friendly, cozy spot is that it has a vision and sticks to it. Basically they have gelato, truffles and drinks. I decided on a salted caramel latte which was divine! But heck, might as well make the drive there worth it so I got a small container of dark chocolate caramels with nuts, like Turtles only way better. I decided to try one before we left as we were sitting and chatting enjoying our drinks. I don't know what happened but before we left, the whole container was empty and I was in a chocolate induced coma of bliss. What impressed me even more about this cute place was the owner. A woman came in to ask what time they closed, 9:00 was the friendly answer. She asked if they could possibly stay open later as the underage students in the Lisle High School play were looking for a place to go for ice cream after their performance ended at 9:30. The owner agreed to keep her store open for them. I was stunned, talk about customer service. I think they should sing an opera about her! I have to go back to visit this wonderful woman's store and, fine, I admit, feed my chocolate and caffeine habits!

This was the most AWESOME little chocolate and Gelato Cafe!! We had the Gelato with Italian chocolate mixed in and Gelato with expresso!!! Absolutely AMAZING!! We also took with us a box of 12 homemade truffles!!! They are very nice here as well, AWESOME service!!

Definitely a hidden gem in Lisle! I'm serious, as the storefront is in a building with condos on top and not on the main downtown road. Gelato was cheap at $6 for a pint and $11 for a quart. Why even get a pint of Haagen Dazs or Ben & Jerry's? With that said, the flavors can be a hit or miss. Flavors I recommend are the stracciatella, the oreo, and something with giardino fiore in the title, not totally sure. Wasn't a fan of the burnt caramel or the cinnamon flavor. They even carry Italian Ice, which their version tasted a little more sweet than most of the lemon ice places that I'm accustomed to and it was around $8 a quart. The lady was very nice.

I just recently visited Traviata and I know that I will be in there at least 2 times a month...if not weekly! It's just too good and my kids LOVE it! On our first visit, they had banana fudge gelato, I had spumoni, a flavor I haven't gotten to enjoy since my childhood! I stopped to pick up some gelato the next time, a pint of white chocolate (reasonably priced at $6), and it was gone within minutes of my family opening it. Traviata also has wonderful chocolate treats, good coffee, and a very friendly owner.

This place has the best Gelato! I always get the chocolate! Try this place out! AMAZING and soooo nice!

Great chocolate truffles for a great price! The staff is very friendly, the chocolates are great and so is the Gelato, I wish we found that place earlier!
(5)L F.
LOVE this place for a small, sweet treat in a cozy little shop. The owner is always friendly and smiling. The gelato is delicious - haven't had a flavor yet that I didn't like. Definitely worth a visit on a warm summer night.

Have lived in Downers Grove for almost 3 years and just recently discovered this place and we love it! The truffles are amazing and the gelato is probably some of the best we've had!!! We go to this place a couple of times a week...sad we didn't know about this place earlier now that we're moving from the area. We'll be sure to drop in when we're around the area!

Gelato and sorbetto. The raspberry is excellent and the limoncello is nice. Scoops are ice cream size, which might be too big. Truffles are the golf-ball size with rather gooey centers.

Have been a customer for about six months. Liked the gelato, chocolates and apples. Most purchases were around 30-45 dollars. Recently purchased Living Social coupons. The owner who used to be friendly was really mad that established customers purchased the coupons. She constantly kept snapping at my family that we should not be using the coupon. We called Living Social and they verified the coupons were not limited to first time customers. We were surprised by her meanness over this because even when we used the coupon we spent a significant amount of money on other items that far exceeded her four dollars of free gelato. IF YOU USE LIVING SOCIAL COUPONS BE AWARE SHE MAY BE MEAN TO YOU!!!!!!!

Great place. Nice people. Gelato is great. ESPECIALLY the Apple cider gelato

I'm rarely ever in the Chicago suburbs, however, I love my friend dearly and I accompanied her for her first wedding dress fitting in Lisle. Afterwards, we wanted to catch up for a few and decided to walk a few doors down to this café. It was super cute and quaint. Two of my friends order warm drinks and despite the cold weather outside I got gelato! I tried the cookies and cream and white chocolate. It was definitely very good. The atmosphere of the café was cute and the person working (owner, staff, I'm not sure) was very sweet. We hung around for a while before getting back on the road. I can't say that I'll ever be on this part of town again, but if any of you yelpers are I'd check out this spot. They offer coffees, hot chocolates, teas, gelato, truffles, sweet treats... everything yummy. The only thing I'll say is that it's pricey. I thought about trying a little truffle but it was expensivo! I can't recall the exact price but I was shocked that whatever it was, was only for one little piece.

I absolutely adore this place. It's so much better than Baskin Robbins, Starbucks, or any other coffee and/or ice cream place. Why? Well... 1. Because it's not ice cream, it's gelato. AND it had similar flavors to the ones I had in Italy! Not quite as good, but as close at it can get! 2. The hot chocolate is SO AMAZING. Three words: Nutella hot chocolate. 3. The truffles trump Fannie May. More flavors, fresher, bigger, and more intense. 4. The lady behind the counter is the sweetest, nicest woman you will ever meet. If you haven't been to this place, go now. If you've been there before, go back. I don't want to see another downtown Lisle shop go out of business because of its lack of customers. Not this place, it's a real gem.

A delightful little spot in downtown Lisle. We live a lot closer to Downers Grove and Lisle than we used to, so I decided it was high time to start exploring. I brought an old friend here for some chocolate and catching up. As other reviewers note, it's in a little strip mall underneath a condo building, so not the most obvious location, but not too hard to find and easy to park. The atmosphere is whimsical and cozy. And everything looks and smells so wonderful. My friend and I both went for the 5-scoop "bambino" sampler. These are little baby scoops -- about the size of a golf ball -- so you can try a variety without feeling totally piggish. I tried banana, chocolate-hazelnut, heath bar, chocolate java and raspberry. Oh, heavens, they were all delicious. The banana and chocolate java really stuck out, but I would eat any of them again -- or try five new flavors, because they were all pretty tempting. (I did not see burnt caramel, which is a shame, that sounds great.) They also have fondue, truffles, various chocolate-covered goodies, espresso and espresso-based drinks, a variety of hot chocolates from standard to super-fancy gourmet, smoothies and hot tea. We sat and talked for at least two hours and never got any glares or really, any attention at all -- the sweet and friendly owner just let us be. It was never jam-packed but some other customers did come and go while we were there, and I'm glad to see it, because I want this place to survive, so I can bring more girlfriends here!

Gelato, yum. Too busy right now, Developing brain freeze. Check back later. Nomnomnom.

Seriously, This place is in LISLE? I've lived in Lisle for most of my life, but we've seldom had places like this. If we do get them (anybody remember Candies & Cones by Naperville Commons or DeRoquefort's?) they close. Visit this place now. Keep this place open. The marquee item is the gelato. All the flavors I have had have been excellent. The Italian ice is great as well. They offer a combo of 5 bambino scoops (like a tablespoon) if you are like me and have trouble deciding. It's right around $3 and well worth it. They also have chocolates and smoothies, so I have an excuse to keep going back. Make one yourself today.

Traviata Chocolate & Gelato Cafe where have you been all my life? I saw this place pop up on my friends check-ins and thought we would take a little drive and try some yummy Gelato. They had alot of different flavors to choose from Spamoni, to chocolate to everything in between. I had the Strawberry Cheesecake and the Banana both were delicious. Wife had Tiramisu and Spamoni she said both were great. I asked if they frequently changed flavors she said numerous are always there but a few that are seasonal. We then checked out the Chocolate display of hand crafted and hand painted chocolates and Truffles. We bought a few truffles and the Dark Chocolate Champagne truffle was terrific.. The owner said she doesn't make the chocolates a very talented friend does for their shop! The owner was extremely nice and the interior of their shop is very relaxing nice soft music in the background with comfy tables and chairs. This would be a great place to sit and relax maybe chat with a few friends and try Gelato and Chocolates. You should give them a try I'm sure glad I did and plan to add this to my rotation of go to places even though its a little drive!!

Took my kids for a treat. Had a variety of sweet treats and they were all delicious. Will visit again.

SOOOO TASTY! Traviata offers a fantastic selection of tasty gelato, chocolate treats, and coffee drinks. The shop is a block away from the train station and downtown Lisle. I regularly meet up with friends here to chat and relax after work. There is a parking lot right in the front. Violeta, the owner, is sweet and fun to chat with too! Favorite gelato flavors: burnt caramel, apple cider, banana fudge, pumpkin, tiramisu Yummy chocolate products: chocolate covered orange peels, chocolate covered giant marshmallows, caramel apples, Ancho hot chocolate (soooo good, but no longer offered. How sad!) Other Notes: I haven't used these services, but there is a party room available and off-site catering for chocolate fountains. You can also place large orders for chocolate/apples/treats for gifts and parties.

Amazing gelato, sorbetto, drinks, truffles and service! A gem in our little town. Try it, you'll see!!
(5)Christina K.
I love this place. I personally love the old fashion Lemon flavored Italian ice which is the best I have ever had. During the Summer they carry at least 8 different flavors of the Ice. The Gelato flavors are so good and so unique. The Gelato is made by the owners from my understanding. Once you are tempted look out, you will be back for more.
(5)Jenni E.
This is a cute little cafe by the Lisle Train Station and definitely worth the trip. They offer several flavors of Gleato and Italian Ice as well as coffee drinks, tea and other sweet treats. They also had a great selection of homemade truffles. I had gelato when I went; both the pistachio and black cherry flavors were delicious. A 2-scoop cup of smooth, delicious goodness cost me less that $5; can't beat that!
(4)Kristen S.
What a find! My fiancé and I are new to the area and this by far is one of our favorite finds. Awesome gelato and Italian ice.
(4)Ryan K.
Good stuff. Went there with my 2 year and had the mint chocolate gelato. I had to keep it away from him so that i could get a bite or two.

If you are the (Chicago) west-suburban, ice-cream connoisseur then take the time out to try Traviata in Lisle. The ice-creams are your standard gelato, fresh, great flavor selection. My favorite item is the Bambino-5-Scoop where you get a wide-mouth cup with 5 mini-scoops of gelato. It allows you to enjoy a variety of flavors and even the cross-variations. Three Side Notes: 1) The sorbet is excellent, sharp flavors. Try the lemon and blueberry. 2) They also serve chocolate candy - outstanding, take at least one small box home with you. 3) For some reason, people with lactose-intolerance who normally have to avoid dairy products altogether are virtually unaffected by Traviata's gelato.
