Breakfast was good. I had the breakfast burrito. It was enough for 2 people. The iced tea tasted like instant. They use the fake sweet and low. They sat us in a booth by a window. There was air vents blowing cold air from the ceiling right on my ear. Now my ear is feeling clogged. I'm probably going to get sick. No need for cold air blowing when it's in the 40's outside. Place was busy but service was ok. It gets 3 stars because of the cold air.

So today I had the occasion to visit a pancake house with two babies, an eleven year old, and two exhausted parents. The corner booth we occupied was perfect for the older little guy who instantly became fixated on the curtain blinds...simple pleasures. The other youngster maintained a consistent slumber even with the multiple check ups and conditions of the entire room. I will say that the hash browns and eggs are what knocked this review down to a three star experience. The best part of this place is it's hesitated and the unspoken understanding of keeping the babies occupied. The eleven year instantly had a strawberry milkshake ten minutes into our visit and was silent throughout the meal. Getting back to those burnt hash browns and dry eggs. I ate everything, It is the custom of my house to clear your plate always. I ordered the Greek sizzling skilet and was also given a side of the cinnamon swirl pancakes...these were great! I wish I had known this was actually a thing sooner. Definitely something I'll be looking for the next time out for breakfast. I know this review is all over the place but if you eat here, it might make sense. This is a place for the weary who need a good meal and considerate service. The good might not be the most amazing thing in the world but it definitely gets the job done. Bring your babies, bring your kids, bring your parents and some hopes for peace of mind. Cheers, still have another pancake to finish.

After moving north from the O'Hare area, I came here on my search for great pancakes. I was sat rather quickly by a woman who seemed like she couldn't be less interested in her job or the fact that the restaurant was rather dank feeling and smelled of urine and mop water in need of changing. My order mercifully came rather quickly. The coffee was tastless, which wasn't helped by the spoiled half and half. The leathery, barely warm pancakes that tasted just like the surface they were cooked on held their own against the frozen pads of butter and resisted soaking up the flavorless maple flavored syrup. I don't remember much else as I must have blocked it out. Don't do it. Just don't.

Their food is okay to good. BUT their wait staff and tattooed hostess will kill their business. We have been there three times and each time it gets worse. The waitresses really need some training. Who would hire a hostess that looks like she should be at a biker bar??? This will be the last time, there are way many restaurants around to choose from.
(2)Guy R.
Our food was very good. It came to us very quickly, hot and full of flavor. The staff was very courteous and attentive. This was our first time joining them for breakfast but I do know that we will be back soon to try other items on the very large menu.

We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning, so I was expecting a wait and delay in getting our food, but we we're sat right away and the food came out pretty quickly. The dining room was clean and my wife and I both enjoyed our breakfast. Going to a diner I never expect fine dining quality food so I wasn't even so disappointed that some of the food was frozen prior to being cooked. The reason they don't get five stars is because the staff wasn't very engaging. The hostess did a drop and go with out menus, the waitress kept everything strictly business, and when I went to the register to pay my bill I didn't even get a "how was everything this morning?" Emily, you should expect more from your staff, especially on your busiest shift.
(4)Steven B.
Not coming back here anymore. The place was understaffed and no one stepped in to help. Ordered loose scrambled eggs that were anything but loose and had to be sent back. What a waste of food. And whoever heard of $5.00 instant hot chocolate?
(1)Emily J.
Only breakfast I liked there I gave 3 stars for it but for the service I gave them 2 stars they are somewhat good but not great, they into there 20's but don't have a dame.

I often come here for breakfast with friends, family or by myself. My $16 breakfast including my $3 tip consist of hash brown, corn beef hash, eggs, toast, and coffee. All this food should be able to hold me till 2pm today because I have a long day and will not have time for lunch, however, the only things I was able to consume was eggs, toast, and coffee because the hash brown & corn beef hash was burnt like charcoal. I notified my waitress & she did offer to have them redo it, however, I don't feel comfortable because I never know what the cook or staff will do to my food. I don't expect a lot but I did somewhat expected a discount. Since my family and friends did not like the place and they only come because I want to. I think it's time to listen to them.
(1)B A.
This place has not improved. Cracked coffee cups with lipstick stains, and used old looking coffee dispensers (looks like it was picked up at a garage sale) is ridiculous. Breakfast for $30 including tip is too much!
(2)Paul O.
Usually they are good, but they are slow and non responsive today. The food came out cold and they can't even refill the coffee. I asked for some salsa and it took five minutes to get some. The pancakes were cold and hard. Go somewhere else. This place now sucks.
(1)Bob C.
We came in on a Sunday morning @ 11 AM. The place was full. We were seated within 5 min. and placed our orders within 10 min. The wait staff was all pleasant. All the food was great. A good simple place to grab a bite in the morning
(4)Sarah S.
Great service today. New server who was great with the menu. Great price for the food that you get. A lot of it. Couldn't finish.
(4)mark f.
Clean, pleasant staff. Nice local place. Good selection of all sorts of entrees. Lots of parking. Easy to find.
(4)Odranre B.
restaurant located in the middle of no-where...stopped in for weekday lunch...ordered 1/2 lb. burger medium...what i got was two 1/4 lb. patties well done and dry...it came with side if coleslaw in a plastic to-go container even though i'm dining in...chicken noodle soup was salty (too much instant bouillon)...the price was a bit on the expensive side considering the mediocre quality food...the server was friendly and attentive...huge empty parking lot, probably because everyone else went to ihop...
(2)Nicole H.
What happened to this place?!?! Used to be good service, good food at a good price. Now, not so much. Took 15 minutes for someone to take our order (not our waitress), even longer to get the weak coffees and 1/2 our food order. (everyone's dishes would have been too easy and predictable, right?). Prices have crept up and service standards dropped. Waitress who brought food apologized for taking so long as she's "really sick". That's when I realized I just bought breakfast and a virus for my family. While this place is close, we won't be back. Make the drive to Walker Bros instead.
(1)luke d.
Can do better, service short many times, young lady at door sometimes has attitude, food is very plain and not very comforting, been here many a Sunday, probably had enough. Don't think we'll be back. Thanks anyway
(1)Shawn D.
This restaurant is very close to home. We rarely venture out of breakfast on the weekends, but we decided what the heck. Service was good. Our waitress was nice and available without being intrusive. Menu is pretty large. There is a variety of sweet or savory options. Did not look at the lunch portion of the menu. The food was good. The prices are a little on the high side, but you get almost too much food. I'd rather see a lowering of the prices with a little less food. I mean do you really need to make a FOUR egg omelet? That said, if I wanted breakfast I'd stop here again.
(3)Jason B.
Every time I drive past this restaurant it is packed. I have been there five times now, wondering if I am missing something about this place. I am not. The food is consistently below average, and the service is poor. I don't understand what others see here that I do not. At least many other Yelpers on here feel the same way as I do or I would think I was mad.
(2)Judy W.
I now know why the place wasn't packed when we arrived on a Sunday morning at 10 a.m. I visited Emily's with my friend and her 14-year old daughter. We found a close parking spot, walked in and were seated immediately. The menu was pretty standard for a pancake house. My friend and I ordered skillets and her daughter ordered an omelet. Two of us had pancakes with our meal. We could have made better tasting pancakes at home. They were very bland and tasteless. The syrup offered was also NOT maple and tasted more like a sugar-free market brand. Yuk! The skillet meals were just o.k., but not seasoned very well. The waitress was very polite and attentive enough, but the track marks on her arm offended my friend and her daughter, since they recently experienced a tragedy related to drug use. My friend and her daughter also used the bathrooms, and stated they were very disgustingly dirty. Not very likely we will return.
(2)Mark D.
I've been here a few times. Mostly because there are so few options in the area. And it has never been even mediocre. The food is bad. The service is inconsistent. You are truly better off going to McDonalds or Burger King. You would know what you would get and it would always be better than Emily's. I won't go back to Emily's again. Three times was more than enough.
(1)Keith E.
Have been at the businesses that have been there before. Nicely surprised. Service was very nice and attentive. Having over 3 options for has browns was nice. I asked for well done and it was nice having well done Shredded has browns. Emily's also had Grits and knew how to make them too. My eggs and ham off the bone was done well. I can see why it is my nephews favorite place. Thank you Emily's
(5)Dan S.
Omelet was good, Saw picts on menu of real potatoes hash browns so Ordered them well done. The hash browns where kind out of a carton or box so they where too brown or charred. Waitress and hostess nice. Food was quick ordered a simple omelet. And soft drink Bill was almost $12.00 for one person.$$ ....Would be a small fortune for the family to eat here.
(3)Naomi Z.
I've been here three of four times before this experience and the food and the service were both very good (consistent). I don't enjoy breakfast food so I am thankful for restaurants who will serve lunch food at breakfast. That said I usually order the same thing: Cowboy burger. Used be be a big juicy burger cooked to requsted temperature (I like my burgers medium rare) with gobs of cheddar, shoestring onions and bbq sauce. I order the same thing today. My husband ordered a bunch of a la carte items as usual which all came in a timely manner together. In the past (at least 4 times) he had ordered 2 eggs over easy and had received 4. Not sure if they were double yolks which I would find hard to believe 4 times in a row or just generous. Today he received 2. The burger I ordered comes with a cup of soup that came out with the burger at the same time. Hard to decide what to eat first? Not really. The soup was micrwaved so hot I burnt my mouth. So on the my usually favorite thick juicy burger. Not so much. My burger had been replaced by to miniature (literally a mc double is bigger) burgers with a little cheese burnt to heck. There is no way this burger could be cooked any way other than well done do to how thin it is. (So why ask me how I want my burger cooked) The waitress who was very nice and apologetic came back and I explained I get this all the time and this was not what I was expecting. And it was burnt. She took it back and said they were going to re-make it. (Okay......right????) So clearly she brought it back to the chef who got pissed- because the next thing she brought out was a thicker RAW burger. I am not talking undercooked- I am talking RAW. I took my fork to the middleopened it, called the waitress back and needless to say, that one went back too. No breakfast for me. If a chef gets pissed off enough to serve a raw burger I don't want to find out what he'd do if you sent it back again. On a side note- if waiters/servers etc with exposed tattoos (lots of them) piercings bothers you, avoid this place. The table next to us was having similar issues. Not sure if this place has new owners, new managers or what- but I will NOT be returning.

I rarely leave reviews and I never leave negative reviews. I work in the food industry and I know how ridiculous people get. However, don't waste your time with this restaurant. I've been there a few times, but this experience was by far the most disappointing. We ordered $8 crepes and received lackluster "crepes" with about two strawberries cut on top. The woman attempted to clarify the difference between crepes and blintzes to me to validate the lack of anything substantial in the food. I love when people are patronizing. I know what a crepe is. That's why I ordered it. I know it's just breakfast and it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of life, but who wants to be ripped off? I've lived in this area for a long time. Go to Mrs. V's if you want to pay the same amount with decent food. Go to Dino's Den if you want cheap, available food. Avoid Emily's. At this rate it'll probably go the way of las Palma's and rigby's before it.
(1)Dan R.
Emilys has good food, great breakfasts if you can get the waitstaff to bring it to you. Seems they are more interested in chatting w each other, primping or spending time w the reception folks. All in all, better options elsewhere. Too bad, could be nice experience if management didn't care more about their appearance than their service.
(2)Kate S.
Good food. However they serve the food in deep bowls. For anyone with arthritis in their wrists it is incredibly painful to manipulate your hand to eat the food. This is not trendy this is cruel punishment of their customers
(1)Brian F.
We were seated right away and the place was pretty packed (good sign). The food was good but not great. I got the eggs benedict and I was assured that the hollandaise was made from scratch. It did seem pretty close but the sauce had almost zero flavor. A little salt helped but I can't imagine the chef tasted the sauce before sending it out. The other food we got was also pretty average. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but if in the area its not bad.
(3)Elena E.
Immediate seating, fairly large breakfast place. Ordered the barcelona omelette. Omelette was very good, potatoes and pancakes were good as well. Honestly, i was not expecting much. Considering its location, it exceeded my expectations.
(4)Kyle G.
Great breakfast and the portions are large! I love the biscuits and gravy special, comes with a 1/2 order, 2 eggs and 3 pieces of meat.
(5)Clare L.
Food was OK, specials for lunch were really dinner specials. Not a great variety of lent specials. Cup of soup with so big that I could not even finish it and barely touched my lunch. Rolls didn't come out till the end of lunch which made mydad angry, because he had to ask if they even served them. (I didn't need them but he did). Server was way overwhelmed. While others were just cool and calm.
(2)Amy L.
If you don't have high expectations for your breakfast meal...this is your place. I live about 3 blocks from here and was excited to have a close-by breakfast place in the neighboorhood. I have been there about 4 times since they opened and don't have any plans to go back. The food is not great. I could make it better at home. There are obvious short cuts that are taken with instant/boxed ingredients. For a breakfast/lunch only restaurant, I would expect more - especially for the prices. The prices aren't over the top, but not worth what they charge. What I have ordered: Biscuits & Gravy = The gravy tasted like it had chalk in it. The waitress confirmed, it was a box mix. No fresh meat in it at all. Greek Skillet = this was basically fried onions on a dish with oil everywhere. There were 2 little overcooked strips of gyro, overcooked (from frozen) hash browns and feta. The eggs on top (sunnyside up) were so UNDERcooked you could see the white of the egg running down into the rest of the food. Pancakes = This was probably the best of the meals I have had here, but again, nothing spectacular. Just like making pancakes at home from a Bisquick box. Breakfast Sampler (Eggs, Toast, Hash Browns, etc...) = This was similar to a Grand Slam at Denny. Sadly, Denny's is better and less expensive. Again overcooked (from frozen?) hash browns that are charred on the outside and chewy/dry on the inside. What is funny, is there is generally always a line and wait to get into this place. I don't get it. Maybe they have something fantastic that they do make, but I have no idea what it may be.
(2)Andrew P.
One of those restaurants that's ideal for breakfast and lunch. Every possible thing is on the menu, and from what I've had it's all been good - Greek scramble, for example. Wonderful comfort food, large place for quick seating, good service. Can't complain!
(4)Tava B.
The food was pretty good,....my husbands skillet dish was given a thumbs up, and my mother-in-law said her omelet was great. My father in laws corned beef hash was very dry and overly salty. The biscuits and gravy i had where excellent, however i asked for my hash browns well done and they were not, more like cold......and the server never came by until the meal was mostly done, so by then, everybody would have been waiting on the check and me to eat my hash browns. We had all also needed drink - water and coffee-refills that never happened. I debated giving this place 2 stars for the service and the ignored hash brown request then up to 4 stars for the food that was good......therefore 3 stars bottom line, service needs help, food is decent

Save your time and money!!!! Family of four (adults, pre teens) came in for breakfast/lunch. Seated right away, near the front door. Cold blast comes in from the front doors. (10 degrees outside, winter) We're troopers so we lived with it. Servers were polite and positive. We placed our order. Salad, waffle, gyro omelette, kids cheeseburger. Confused when the waitress asked me if I wanted gyro meat in my gyro omelette? Yes, but green pepper instead of onion please. A little pricey for a greek-type restaurant. FYI, small orange juice is 5 oz. and costs $2.69. Really??? Dishes came in a reasonable time. Wife's salad had ingredients in it that were not on the menu. Waffle appeared to be fine but served without syrup??? Gyro omelette and toast served luke warm at best. Peppers were raw, eggs barely cooked. Kids cheeseburger burnt and served with an obvious moldy, rotten pickle, that had blue glitter on it. (Saved from a previous guest?) Had four different waitresses during our meal. We politely asked for a non-moldy, non-rotten pickle. The waitresses were in too big of a hurry to listen to our other concerns. They were arguing with each other behind us over some credit card transaction from a previous customer. Waitress gave me the bill, no apology for the moldy food. Went to pay the bill and responded to the question "everything ok?". ummm, no! Told the hostess about the moldy food. The hostess graciously offered me 10 % off the bill. Wow, thanks! . I called and disputed the credit charge. Avoid this place like the plague!
(1)Andrea M.
Just as the stars say. Average. Nothing special. The service is horrible, we say one server when we got there and then saw her again when the bill was dropped off. The coffee was not filled and it was horrible. We have tried it more than once. Don't waste your time or money you will be very disappointed.
(3)Duane S.
Food was good but nothing great. French toast was bland as was sausage link. This place is 10 minutes from hotel so I wouldn't make the trip here again for it. Not bad its above a egg mcmuffin but not a place you're going to talk about and miss after a trip. One pet peeve, never offered a drink refill though numerous wait staff passed by the empty glass on the edge of the table.
(2)Rachel B.
The food wasn't the problem here- it was the service! The food was decent- although slightly chilled when it arrived. We sat for almost 20 minutes before anyone took our order and then it was another 20 minutes before our food arrived and another 20 minutes before we saw our waitress again to get our check. It wasn't crowded or anything, it seemed our waitress was the only one working! There were plenty of other staff hanging around chatting.
(2)Farrah H.
I've been to the Emily's in Waukegan several times and we really liked it. I was hesitant to try it after reading the reviews here but we gave it a shot. It's less than 5 mins from our house. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was great. The food was really good. The size of the portions was great. I had a special omelet with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach and 2 cheeses. It was great. My husband really enjoyed his skillet and we ordered the pancakes for our daughter. 6 silver dollar pancakes and a milk for $3.99 is a good deal. We will definitely go back again.
(4)Nicky S.
Not a fan. I was so happy a pancake house was coming. I have tried it twice and will not go back. For my runny egg white omlette that was suppose to have bacon in it, not sure what the chunk like objects were but they were surely not bacon. The hashbrowns tasted funny and the $4.99 orange juice was warm. My son got some crispy bacon and it was like dust. Another person got a paninni, which was basically toasted bread that they threw on the grill to get the lines with really gross looking cheese. Nope not a fan and won't go back. For the $40 for the 3 of us that was high for the quality of food. Not to mention I was sick to my stomach for the rest of the day from chunks of whatever bacon substitute was in my omlette.
(1)Tom H.
Their pancakes are quite fluffy but if you ask me, this breakfast joint doesn't make breakfast better than I can do it in 10 minutes because I'm usually late for work.
(2)Paula K.
Great service! Tasty food! Staff was friendly and attentive. We were seated quickly even though it was busy. We ordered and our food came in literally 5 mins. And the food was great! We will be going back again and again.
(5)Steve S.
My daughter and i went there for breakfast last week , i ordered the Frotata, it was amazing. MY daughter had the crepes with cream cheese and strawberries . she liked it alot and the oatmeal i had was really good to . The bill was reasonable, our server was on top of her game asked me a few times for coffee refills and aske how the food was and if she could get us anything else .. Nice job Emily.. will be back
(5)Chai K.
Good breakfast place. Big portions. The menu said 2 eggs, but got 4. Bonus! Maybe double yolked eggs. Either way, it was a pleasant surprise. Ana had a calzone-sized omelette, which she thought was decent. The best part for me was the pancakes with whipped cream.
(3)Jenny B.
Delicious breakfasts!! Plenty of options for whatever you're craving. The staff has been consistently nice!
(5)Benjamin S.
Impressed and pleased with decor, atmosphere and cleanliness. Biscuits & Gravy (my staple test for breakfast) was superior and the Greek omelette follow up fantastic. Little pricey overall but great service, good teamwork, so worth it.
(4)Christine U.
Great breakfast & friendly service! Can't wait to go back!
(5)Koko C.
I really like the other 2 locations. The service is something to be desired. I gave them the benefit of the doubt after my first visit, but my second visit was the same. Our table was forgotten about the first visit ordering after sitting for at least 30 minutes. Then my order a turkey club (simple order) was a mess 2 different breads white and wheat. My second visit the server brought my soup 20 minutes after I ordered so a few minutes after the food arrived she pushed my soup (as I was eating it) out from in front of me. They need more people to bus tables and focus on customer service. I won't go back to this location until they pull it together even though this is my closest location. The manager at beach park is very sweet and the service is awesome. They should pull servers from other locations to whip the new ones into shape if they want people to come back. Quality control people and the hostess are kids that are not managing things very well.
(1)R S.
Had lunch with my sister--she ordered a beef burger medium-rare, I ordered a turkey burger, we both had soup. There's nothing appealing about the place or the food. They've done a nice enough (but boring) job with the remodel of the seating areas, but I don't know why we would ever go back. The soup was a cream-of-something that tasted like nothing, had the consistency of glue, and was served in far too large a portion. Why not give me a small serving of something made from real ingredients that actually tastes like something? The fries were cold and unappealing. My sister was happy enough with her beef burger, but I barely ate any of the turkey burger. It seemed like it had been taken, pre-formed, from a frozen package, slapped on a griddle without any kind of attention to seasoning (heard of salt and pepper even?), and then slapped on an equally unappealing, untoasted white bun. I can easily make better at home, and I will instead of stopping here. People with positive reviews here seem to be praising the large portion sizes. I agree: they're large. But I'd much, much rather have a smaller portion of something that actually has flavor and shows effort than a large pile of homogeneous food.
(1)Andrea G.
Cheap place for breakfast and lunch. Run of the mill diner food. Friendly service. Large portions...1 egg ordered means 2 on your plate.
(2)Erika W.
I guess I am one of the first for a great experience here. I just moved back from the city, so I am used to some of the greatest brunches known to man (ever see the line for Bongo Room on a weekend? There is a reason for that) So consider me a lover of fine breakfast/lunch food (also having been in the industry for over 14 years, I am picky to a fault). We went on a Saturday late morning (around 11:30am) It was not packed, maybe 3/4th's full. We were greeted and seated right away. The menu seemed to cover all of the basics, and being starving, I was having one of those moments where everything looked delicious. Our waitress was sweet and efficient, and although obviously new to the job, we never felt neglected. I was with my parents (very much senior citizens) and she was very helpful with my father, she leaned in closer so he could hear her, and was good about talking slow and making sure he understood everything. Dad got the Barcelona Omelet, and probably would have licked his plate if we had let him. Mom got the Emily's burger, and enjoyed it, not the greatest burger, but a solid good effort. The fries were super crispy, and lightly seasoned, which we all enjoyed. I opted for the chicken fried steak. Which if done right can be heaven on a plate. If done wrong, is dog food. This one was AMAZING! and huge. Slathered in gravy, it still managed to stay crispy till almost the very end. It was not over breaded, or over cooked. The meat was juicy and tender, the gravy was well seasoned. I opted for eggs, hash browns, and a fruit plate on the side (fruit because I need something to justify my gluttony) I will say the four egg accompaniment was to much (Two would have been fine). Hash browns were crispy, but under-seasoned, and the fruit was just OK. The watermelon and grapes were actually tasty, the honeydew, cantaloupe, and pineapple were bland and the orange should have never been allowed to be put on a plate and served to a customer. The total bill, including tea and coffee was only $33. I consider that reasonable (remember, city girl, you would pay twice as much for half of that at some places) I would have gone for 5 stars if it wasn't for slight disappointment in my side dishes. All-in-all I will definitely be back (I just hope I have the same experience!)
(4)Holly B.
good service, fast and friendly, but the food was only so-so. Pricy.
(2)Karina A.
Less than average food. My skillet was comprised of over-cooked, chewy hashbrowns and very skimpy on the cheese. I took one bite of the pancakes and didn't have anymore. They tasted way too sweet - like straight powdered sugar. I will take Bisquick over Emily's pancakes anyday - pretty sad seeing as this is their namesake. The service was fine, but nothing noteworthy. There were a couple of mistakes, but nothing to ruin a meal. I definitely think the menu could use more selection. I was actually hard-pressed to decide on anything I wanted and ended up just creating my own skillet because nothing really appealed to me. I would have gone for crepes, but I didn't see any fresh fruit going around on the crepes being delivered to other tables and I was not interested in a pile of canned pie filling on my plate. As a busperson filled our water glasses, she saw something in/ on the glass and wiped it off with her finger. When she noticed that we saw her, she did go to another table and replace it, but ew! All in all, I would have given this place two stars until I got home from brunch, only to discover a large stain on the back of my sweater, which could only have been from the back of the booth I was sitting in. Obviously some work on cleaning is needed. Thanks Emily's for a sub-par breakfast and for ruining my sweater!!!

Emily's just opened up after the last restaurant, Las Palmos, closed a few months back. I'm used to doing Sunday brunch at Wildberries or Walker Bros so I was excited that we got something for brunch closer to Lake Villa. I have to admit that I was moderately impressed. The decor is a blah brown and theres nothing unique or kitchy about it that stands out. The menu selection was moderate - again nothing unique but the regular old omelettes and eggs and pancakes. It was busy but it felt even busier as the wait staff they had was new and fairly frazzled. Our waiter was herself brand new to waitressing, as she told us several times, and we were quite willing to be patient with her learning curb but it was way too over the top as every time she came to our table she would apologize for something that we didn't even notice until she pointed it out. It became a little tedious. I do think she probably should have had more help in her beginning stages. Everyone was nice enough and the food was ok - I guess it was just food. Nothing that impressive or over the top. I think I'd just go back down to my other breakfast place, The Swedish Cafe. The food is definitely better and cheaper and the atmosphere is more pleasant and relaxing.

This is part of the Emily's chain in Beach Park and Waukegan. Breakfast on a Sunday morning at 11:00, was seated within 5 minutes...awesome. They did a nice job with the old Las Palmas restaurant building but they took all the huge plants out so it looks empty by the windows. Makes a nice coat shelf though! Loved that the coffee carafe was left on the table, why don't more places do this? The server can save some foot time and I don't get cranky waiting for a refill. The 4 egg omelettes were okay, husband's looked bigger that that while mine looked much smaller. Pancakes just okay, kinda tough and I can make better ones at home. Kid's chocolate chip pancakes were standard. Kid's mac and cheese was Kraft already turning gross as it had been sitting for a few minutes already. This is a standard breakfast/lunch diner joint in this area...a cross between an Avalon(Gurnee) and a Wildberry(Libertyville). Would also say the prices are a bit high for a family restaurant.
