We had an absolutely terrible time at this restaurant. Sat there 15 minutes with no water nor menus. Then a waiter came with the menus, we had to ask for the water, and he took drink orders. When they still hadn't come 10 minutes later, we called the manager and he took our meal order and drink order again, and still had to wait 5 minutes for the drinks. When the food finally came it was amazing, wonderful, but the service was bottom rung - below Dennys. They want us to come back to "show us how well they treat customers" - we probably will take them up on the offer, but so far we're VERY underwhelmed.

We had dinner here after a show at the theater; since this is a popular post-show spot since it is so convenient, there was a bit of a line to get in even with reservations, but it moved along pretty well. They seemed a little understaffed to handle the post-show crowd, and so service was a little slow, but our server was apologetic about this, and we weren't in a hurry. The food is traditional, but nicely done. I had a spinach salad with goat cheese, dried cherries, and pecans; the small size was perfect for a starter, and at $4, I certainly had no complaints! I had the grilled trout for my entree, which came stuffed with shredded vegetables and a hefty amount of fresh garlic. I like vegetables and garlic, so this worked well for me, but the menu does not indicate the fish is prepared this way, so just a heads up if you don't like garlic! The fish was cooked perfectly. The sides of green beans and parsley potatoes were good, and simply, but nicely, seasoned. The dessert menu was also fairly traditional but the item that was a little different and fun was the gelato. The menu does not state this, but the gelato, in whichever three flavors are selected, comes in three little cones. This is one of the cutest desserts I've had in a while. The flavors were all good, and our server noted the gelato is made in house. Our server was nice, and clearly working very hard to try to keep up with the post-show crowd. Again, since we weren't in a hurry, we had no issue with things being a little slow, but I'd suggest allowing at least 2 hours for a pre or post show dinner just to be safe!

Father's Day Brunch was horrifically overpriced & similar to the standard "free breakfast" you might get at a hotel with a night's stay. In fact, this WAS the free breakfast. We just had the misfortune of paying $20/per person for it. This place USED to have an amazing brunch. We won't be back.

Unless you come here for the convenience to the hotel or theater, I would not recommend. The service is lacking. I mentioned on our online reservation that it was our 20 year anniversary and they wanted to stick us in a crowded corner even though there were many better tables available. Our waitress was unattentive. And we were originally served another tables food.. Their only saving grace was that their food was decent. The NY strip was done perfectly... tender and flavorful. The mahi was also flavorful but a tsd overdone. Kudos to the chef.

Service is abismal. In the 45 minutes we were there we saw our waitress 2 times. The water was never filled. The wedge salad was only so-so. I've had a better Wedge salad at TGIFs. The New York Strip was a different story though. It was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. Unfortunately I cannot recommed this place.

I can only review this place as a guest and what I mean by that is I haven't had to look at the bill because I have been blessed to be taken each year with my sister's job. I have to say I love the food it has been very good and so flavorful over the last few years that I have come to this Restaurant and I don't expect any thing different when I go back! The staff is always so attentive and friendly. If this place was closer I would go back more often!

This was my family's first time having Thanksgiving Dinner out! My 58 year old mother was not a fan of this idea but quickly changed her mind (she wants to do this again next year!) There are seven food stations with something for everyone. They even had chicken nuggets and pizza for the picky little eaters. My family kept raving about how tender the beef was how amazingly juicy and well seasoned the turkey was! I don't eat meat but was satisfied with the many vegetarian options. They even served Mimosa with dinner. The desert table was decadent! Cookies, pumpkin pie, banana cream pie, pineapple upside down care, chocolate covered strawberries, the best bread pudding you could imagine plus so many more sweet treats! The food options are just too many to list, but trust me you will not be disappointed! We made these reservations last week of October and I requested a table with a view and we sat near the window with the most beautiful view. This place is about 20 minutes drive from Gurnee, IL (Great America location). Prices were good, $45 for adults, $20 for children over 6 and under 6 ate for free. Lynn was our waitress and she was awesome, very patient with three toddles at the table! She was attentive and kind. I will request to sit in her area when we return! I absolutely recommend!

Brunch Review: After stopping by here this past weekend, I am once again reminded of why all you can eat brunches are going away. The selection was limited, food was mediocre at best. Temperature of the food was off, as the place was relatively empty and the turnover was slow. This of course resulted in food spending way too much time in the warming bin; dying a slow painful death. There was not a single item off the brunch that stood out. The smoked salmon for example was a presentation of small rectangle cut pieces; the kind of odds and ends you see in those small $4 packages sold in most grocery stores. Service was attentive, but nothing could make up for the absolutely rip off price of $35/pp for this disaster.

We came here for a pre-theater dinner for a work event. I guess we guess we had the "dinner and a show" tickets a few other reviewers have mentioned. Because of this, we were given a limited menu from which to order. There was no choice of appetizer (we were given a salad) and choices of steak, a salad, a fish, and a vegetarian entree. The bread and butter that came out first were the highlight of the entire meal, which is sad given the menu prices for these items. The salad was...there. I don't think it was the same as any of the salads on the normal menu. I can't even remember what was on it, it was very forgettable. For my entree I chose the Tilapia Marinere, which is on the regular menu priced at $21. Supposedly this dish had a butter sauce and parsley potatoes. What was served to me was extremely dry and bland. I saw no discernable butter sauce and debated putting some of the butter from the bread and butter on my fish. I thought my coworkers might think me crazy, so I just ate it. This dish was in no way the quality I'd expect from an entree north of $20. Worse than the food was the service. Our reservation was 2 hours before the start of our show, so we thought we'd have no problem finishing up an would have time for extra drinks or dessert. Instead, we finished up about 10 minutes before the play began. Our waiter rarely showed up to the table and food took forever to come out. I'd emptied my glass of water about 15 minutes into the meal and it was never refilled, even after I did manage to flag my waiter down and ask for more water. I'm not sure if the food is better in this place outside the dinner and show package, but I doubt it. You can far, far better food in this area than what's served at King's Wharf.

We came here as a part of dinner and show package. We were seated as a group of 14. We had a couple of people who had to leave dinner early so the wait staff was able to bring out their food early in a box to go for them. After they left we waited some time for our food. The salads came but the food took a long time. So long that I might of eaten a whole loaf of bread and a stick of butter. When the food did come they had no idea who had what. The biggest problem they had was passing out the steaks. The didn't know how they were cooked or who ordered what type, medium, medium well, medium rare, they were clueless. Once they did finally get it straight we all ate. The food was not impressive enough to outweigh the mediocre service. I have had better steak at home and the tilapia was just ok. Then we ordered dessert and they messed that up too. We ordered two of the ice creams and one cobbler. These each were $6 but we were charged $9 for each them. This required us to stay around even longer to get it fixed. Not only did they mess up our bill but they had no clue and confused our table with another nearby. I don't think this was a isolated experience, people around us were receiving similar service as well. The overall make up of this location is nice with a ship like feel. They have boats hanging from the ceilings and a warm feeling throughout. But this does not make up for the service and the food.

Decided last minute to eat here after attending a show and were thrilled with the experience. The excellent service started at the host and continued with Abraham our waiter (who was superb) - everyone just wanting to make sure we were satisfied. The food was outstanding: we had a rib eye steak and the stuffed chicken with some a la carte sides (we highly recommend the mashed potatoes). Both meals were wonderful: taste, presentation etc. They have a nice craft beer selection. I'm pretty picky about my wine choice with meals and they had a solid white that went nicely with the chicken. The dessert choices were all tempting - we opted for the cheese cake flight: 3 mini cheesecakes in varying flavors. Very good. Whether you are attending a show (before or after) or just in the area, we highly recommend King's Wharf for a very enjoyable dining experience.

Here's your place if you are a seafood or meat and potatoes kind of guy or gal. My boyfriend and I visited the King's Wharf as part of a theater package at the resort which included dinner, show, overnight stay, and brunch the next morning. We enjoyed both meals here. Our dinner appetizer was tuna and avocado tartar, served with tangy sprouts and crisp wontons. Very good. We both had salads that were excellent; the spring mix with goat cheese and vinaigrette was amazing. For our meals we both had steaks, and although they were full of flavor, were overcooked. Dessert was included in the package, so we ordered different flavors of gelato, which kind of fell flat in comparison to the rest of the meal. Brunch is a champagne brunch. They serve a variety of foods: hot breakfast foods and pastries, salads, fresh fruit and veggies, shrimp and oysters, carved meats, omelet station, and choices of ethnic foods, and desserts. Everything we had was good, and our only regret is that we were too full for more. Even though the service was friendly, attentive, and timely, we suspect our steaks were overdone due to sitting too long at the serving station - although it didn't seem like we were waiting at all. The server for brunch had a good sense of humor, but annoyed me when he continually filled our coffee and champagne even after we told him we wanted no more. The nautical decor is dated and a little hokey, but I like the open feel and all the light from the windows. We will be back. 4 stars Visited 5/18 and 5/19/13

Love the filet and Mahi Mahi! The Martinis are great too. Perfect lake view. Friendly server too. Would gladly recommend this place. You can also attend a theater show next door after.

My boyfriend and I decided to try this steak and seafood restaurant for dinner and we were very impressed. He tried the mussels and I had the oysters rockerfeller. Both appetizers were delicious! For our entree we had the filet and to no surprise it was just as yummy as we expected. Definitely recommend this place.

Went here a few years ago before attending a show at their theatre. Food was very pricey and not especially worth the money. If I remember correctly the service was nothing to write home about either. Many other good restaurants in the area to try before going back to this place.

We came here for Valentines Day. First, I should say, we had reservations for 5:30, and got there at about 5:45 because traffic, and they were still able to seat us, which was great. The place was empty when we got there, and they wanted to put us in a corner next to the kitchen, I asked for different seating, which they accommodated. This is where the good ends. We had tickets to the 8pm showing of Cabaret at the theater there, as subscribers, we wanted to try it this place. First, the service was SLOW. Like, S. L. O. W. Add to it that our waitress was, at best, strange. Way overly familiar, and bordering on inappropriate. The salads, were so so, which to me seems bizarre, because it's kind of hard to mess up a salad. I ordered a medium well New York Strip with the Green Peppercorn Sauce, and a side of mushrooms. The steak was medium rare, at best, in spots. It's almost as if they had a bad spot on their grill. The sauce was fantastic, but since I couldn't eat 1/2 my steak, it didn't really help. The mushrooms didn't come out until I asked for them, and by then, they were cold, and OMG garlicky. Now I like garlic, and these were inedible. At best. Add to it that I had to raise my hand to get the attention of the person who had the mushrooms as she tried to give it to 3 other tables, and finally had to tell our waitress that she needed to go get them. When they came to pick up our plates, they offered to buy us dessert to make up for the 28 dollar steak I couldn't eat. I can see how 6$ desert makes up for the steak I couldn't eat. My husband's Jack and Diet seemed to not have much Jack, and mostly diet, but my wine was fantastic, maybe because all they had to do was pour it? Add to it that we finally had to ask for our bill at 7:45, so we made our show. I would not recommend this place, and that pains me to say, because it's so close to the theater. We told them 3 times we were subscribers, and didn't get the discount, and in the ended decided they were too slow for us to even fight it.

Are you kidding me? The prices are obscene. Terrible wine list - all the generic pharmacy stuff you go out to dinner to avoid drinking. There are virtually no salads or veggie options on the menu - it's either an a la carte meal - way overpriced - or a bunch of buttery mashed-up-food-like-substances for sides. I politely asked if there were any options with vegetables and fish - something fresh and light. The waitress RUDELY pointed her finger towards the window and suggested another restaurant. Then my husband inquired about the white wine list and the waitress looked at him blankly and said to me, "Do you know what he's talking about?" I was becoming very uncomfortable and both my husband and I were beginning to feel humiliated. We had sat down on September 16th and the waitress basically stood next to the table tapping her foot trying to badger us to order - it was thirty minutes before last seating and only 8:30 at night on a FRIDAY. We felt terrible and really awkward as tables around us started getting up to leave and suddenly we were the only ones in the restaurant. I walked up to the waitress stand as she was pouring my wine and asked, "do you want us to leave?" She said unashamedly, "Well, yes, it is 30 minutes til close. You know we do close at 9, right?" We had driven over there just to use a Gift Certificate we had been given and we were just badgered and humiliated - we even called ahead to let them know we were coming and NOBODY on the phone mentioned that there would be such a problem with the later seating. We walked out humiliated - especially because we had sat in traffic for twenty minutes longer than it should have taken to get to Lincolnshire due to construction on Half Day. We ended up at Cooper's Hawk in Wheeling - it was packed to capacity and DELICIOUS and we had the best server ever - Denny - a young guy with a huge personality who made us feel at home. Finding out it's our anniversary tomorrow he even brought out a mini dessert and two glasses of champagne. What a difference a classy restaurant with classy waitstaff makes!! BOOOOO King's Wharf.

I think this was the worst $90 meal for two I ever experienced. Service was "OK" if a little slow, as we arrived at a busy time after a show and we weren't in a particular hurry, so, it wasn't a big deal. However the food was mediocre at best and terribly overpriced. I ordered their $37 weekend special which included a soup or salad, an entree and a dessert. The salad was ok, but the entree was simply a piece of luke-warm prime rib (no sides!), that seemed like it had been setting a while. The dessert was pretty good. I've just had far, FAR better meals for 1/2 this price. Yuk.

Please, I'm BEGGING, update your menu! I'm a theater subscriber and for over 5 years the menu has been exactly the same -- no specials, no different soups, nothing. You are losing a huge captive audience, like me, who prefer your convenience but choose to go elsewhere for variety. Your food is good but we're so bored!

This place was great I thought. I like the variety they have in the buffet. The waiters are kind of slow with drink refills but it was ok. They have everything from salads, to meat, to pastas, to shrimp and oysters, to omlette's made to order. i thought the food was delicious, but some people in our group said the waffles were a little hard, but that's not me.
