The pies here are great. They are inexpensive and I recently just tried one of their new pies apple cheesecake. Soo good! Their menu however, another story. I dont think their food is that good. Ive had their soup, chicken potpie and sandwich. I was not crazy about any of them. This place is well known for their pies, and thats just what im sticking too. Try their silk pie and apple cheesecake

I don't know why I like this place so much. Not big on chains in general. I guess it's the pies. Now I need to lose 20 pounds. The staff is always nice, and the food always comes out efficiently and love the carafe of hot coffee they leave on the table.

12 of us went to lunch today. Got there around 11:30. Our servers name was Maria. Have to say, service was really bad. Her attitude needed an attitude adjustment. At times she was rude and very short with people. She took our drink order. It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks, all at deferent times. We all put in our meal orders at the same time, however the meals started coming in about 15 minutes and probably about 30 min later we all finally got our meals. Again, the service was really bad. On the other hand the food was mostly good. I had the pot roast and it was probably the best I've had at a resturant. One person loves their chile. Most liked the food. One person had the patty melt & said it tasted odd. Only ate half. Place was clean. Prices were very reasonable. Oh yeah! Go on Wednesday, order a any meal, and they give you a free piece of pie. I would go back again and put up with the poor service.

I'm assuming you are reading this review because: 1. You are contemplating going to this particular Bakers Square and are curious as to what other reviewers have said. -or- 2. You have already visited this Bakers Square location and are now writhing in pain due to an acute gastric problem from the less-than-stellar food and the questionable sanitation standards they appear to embrace, and are attempting to write a scathing review between frequent bouts of aforementioned gastric distress and pounding shots of Pepto. I feel your pain. ::urp:: I ended up at Bakers Square for my dad's birthday dinner. Personally, I was hoping for a different venue, but it isn't my birthday so...whatchagonnado? This store is most definitely an older store, and definitely showing its age. I can overlook some wear-and-tear and threadbare spots--it happens. What I cannot overlook is the decades old layer of grime on the tables, chairs, and every other surface I touched. When the table top looks like the sole frying pan in a frat house kitchen--you know you have a *big* problem. I should have skipped dinner. I should have started chugging Pepto before our drinks hit the table. I should have run across the street to Walgreens for some bleach and a scrubber sponge. Instead, I bowed to familial pressure and ordered a veggie burger and crossed my fingers for the best. I should have stuck to my guns. Fortunately, the Walgreens *is* across the street for your post-Bakers Square-gastric-emergency needs (don't forget the ginger ale). My advice? Pick up a pie to go or skip this location entirely. Your stomach with thank you for it.

Baker's Square - for my money - has a tendency to be hit-and-miss, depending on when you go. This particular location is showing its age, and the decor is on the worn side. The women's bathrooms, while clean, have smaller stalls than most restaurants which I find a little weird. Nine times out of ten, the service is friendly. The food can range from "just okay" to "really good". I think part of the reason the dining experience varies so much is because they are counting on their pie to lure customers in. Baker's Square pie is good - love the pumpkin - but it is not the best pie I've ever had. That honor goes to the pecan pie at The Cajun Connection in Utica, IL. I don't find Baker's Square prices terribly competitive. In fact, it borders on the "too expensive" end, especially when you consider what it is you are getting for your money. Having said that, when the food is really good I feel like it is worth it, but only occasionally. If the food was more consistent and the prices weren't quite so high, I would probably dine here more often.

This place is starting to get a scuzzy "we don't clean much" vibe to it. I've been here twice in the past month, and both times saw obvious sanitation problems and both times did not enjoy my food. The first visit was for dinner, and I ordered a pasta dish that had WAY too much sauce on it. After I finished that, I ordered a cup of coffee and proceeded to take a sip without looking and ended up with somebody else's lipstick on my face from the rim of the cup. The second time was for breakfast. It took 20 minutes to get a skillet and some french toast, and the french toast was undercooked along with my bacon. I then proceed to look over to the entrance to the kitchen and see one of the waitresses take another person's pancakes and move them from one plate to another with her bare hands. Needless to say, I will not be going back here.

Bakers Square is one of the few chain restaurants that recognized they were going "down the tubes" and actually completely renovated their property(s) along with their menu to completely turn it around. The Lansing, IL location is a completely different place than it was even a year ago. What a pleasant change. The building is very nice inside and even has a ventless fireplace for a bit of visual comfort. The food was heads and tails above the Bakers Square of old. I noticed business picked up as well. The food was very good and the service was good as well. If you were turned off by this particular restaurant in the past give them another try - they did a lot to earn it.

This location is hit or miss. Some days the food is okay, others just meh. My concern is the kitchen. My last visit when I was leaving, I walked by the kitchen and from the space I saw it didn't look clean. There was trash on the floor and the counter didnt look clean.

I found a booger in my napkin as I was unwrapping my silverware. If someone picks their noses while wrapping silverware, God knows what else they are doing.

I ordered 4 slices of pie to take home. When I got home the one pie slice looked as if it was the last of the crumbs left in the batch and they scooped it up and boxed it. So I called and spoke to a manager her name is Riva! Worst Worst manager I have ever dealt with. Extremely rude and very unprofessional. She sounded like some 16 teen year old street girl with some major attitude that was probably a waitress and was next in line for manager position since she worked there so long. After her attitude and seeing that I was not having it, she just says to me "Please hold"? Just like that and puts me on hold for 5 min. The a man gets on the phone and says "hi this is Bill the manager may I help you?" Well who the H@#L was Riva! Yes unfortunately she was a manager. A poor excuse for one. I never met, well spoke to someone so rude before in my life! I wish I had the power to fire her! Please if you ever have a problem make sure Riva does not handle it!!! I'm just appalled as to how she spoke to me on the phone and the attitude I was given. Just the way she acts as a manager makes me never want to go to this location EVER!!! EVERYONE BEWARE OF RIVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
