This bar has atmosphere in spades. 1940s retro if that's your thing, it's a very cool place, From the vintage bar to the Schlitz breweriana everywhere, it's a classic. Service was great, the draft Schlitz was poured from a vintage tap handle, and Irish coffee was served in a fancy glass mug. The draw here is the classic family recipe tavern food, including more exotic seafood such as frog legs and turtle, which they have neon signs for, likely the only ones in Illinois. I was told the turtle is harder to source these days, and it wasn't on the menu tonight. The frog legs were very tasty, with a light batter. Mushrooms and chicken were also good, the real star was the homemade dill tartar sauce that was so delicious I was dipping fries in it. The fries were better than Rip's, even if the chicken wasn't quite in the same league, it was still good. Overall, Lanuti's is a great place for a meal or a drink, in a classic tavern setting.

Went here on New Years Eve. We ordered pizza and broiled scallops. Pizza was inedible. Crust was raw and toppings were worse than on a Tombstone pizza. I would have rather eaten a Totino's $1 pizza than this. Scallops were very bad as well. We asked for them to be broiled. Tasted like they came out of the micro-wave. It was the worst $50 meal ever

Step back into the era of BIG BANDS and black top tables & red chairs...that's Lanuti's. Homemade Cole slaw was excellent. Good lemonade. They were out of turtle. ..boooo. I really wanted to try it. We got the fried chicken. Fresh..hot.... d lish. Wi Fi password is top secret? ? Hmm

Visited Lanuti's last night! Had not been there since i was a kid and it was wonderful! really stepping back in time. they have taken the time to keep the old black glass tables and metal red leather chairs and were playing Sinatra music and old b&w popeye cartoons...what a hoot! professional bartendar was a nice touch that is lost in much of bureau county. the food is better-than-average however typical 'italian' food of the area; fried chicken, family style, chicken parma...the large broiled seafood is a nice touch. very friendly service and all at a great price. 'old formula' shlitz on tap and i was wonderful!

It was good food and a quiet atmosphere even though there was quite a few people there. Probably not worth a 1 hour drive too every week. But definitely a good place to stop by if your in the area.

My one regret was not trying the turtle, but the fried chicken was tremendous. I also enjoy not waiting in line for 2 hours, which I'm perfectly content with never doing. The pink gin fizz drink was tasty, but my manhood dictated getting Schlitz and avoiding the pink-hued concoction. So if waiting in a line at Rip's to try what I would assume is equally tasty fried chicken is as appealing as watching a reunion for the Jenny McCarthy show, go here instead.
