So, this is not an angry rant but more of a suggestion: today while shopping in downtown LaGrange, we decided to have lunch here. While yes I know it is a Sushi place, it was somewhat empty, being that I have 2 year old twins (one of which has a slight learning disability) we went in for lunch. My son does get a bit loud when he gets excited but today he was not too bad. He yells yay and claps but nothing too disruptive. I try to be considerate of my surroundings, since there were maybe 3 other tables and he wasn't being too loud we ordered. Our waitress brings out the soup and asks if we can keep our son quiet. I was shocked since this has never happened before and we have been to much nicer places where he has been in full on excited mode. We immediately leave to avoid any further embarrassment. So my only suggestion would be to please place a sign letting your customers know children with disabilities or any excited child for that matter is not welcome at your establishment. I am not upset or even offended as the young lady was very nice about it as was I. Had I known children who unfortunately cannot be controlled due to disabilities would be of issue, I would have saved you and myself the time and embarrassment. I have ordered food from here and it is overpriced ( Try Chiba in Darien $8.99 3 sushi roll lunch specials with soup and a delicious cucumber salad). Please save your rude comments as I am not being rude or dissing the place, just suggesing as a heads up to let potential patrons know of your "slightly loud kids not welcome, with or without disabilities" rule.

The Sushi House is great! Their restaurant is clean and they have a very attentive wait staff. I personally think that most of the rolls are small, so I usually have to order more so that I am full. I always start with Miso soup and Edamame! Try it out!

Was looking for a sushi place nearby my area and I am glad we found this place. I love the fact that is a small but cozy and quiet atmosphere, nice for having a conversation while enjoying dinner. Service was great and always attentive. Always been picky onTeriyaki sauce, but the one used here was great, not over sweet and tasty. Dragon roll was delicious. Portion are just fine, do not like jumbo size plates. Will definitely come back!

I had a hankering for sushi and this hit the spot! We met some friends and ordered a variety of maki rolls to share. I don't remember the names of everything we got but I do remember that the veggies were fresh and the rice was nice and soft. Not dried out. The flavors went well together and each roll was distinct from the other. My husband ordered the terriyaki steak and enjoyed that as well. It was a good portion of meat and came with rice. My only issue is that the rolls are small. Much smaller than other places I have been. If you go, try to reserve the sunken table by the window. It looks like a very fun and intimate spot for a group.

After months of walking by saying "we should try this place", my family (+!) decided to check out Sushi House. We made a reservation for 7:30 and were immediately seated when we arrived. I ordered a Kirin Ichiban lager beer and we perused the large selection of dinners, sushi rolls, bento boxes, and appetizers. I decided on the Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box (Salmon Teriyaki, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and a California roll). My wife ordered the Vegetable Tempura, our son the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box, and his girlfriend ordered the Beef Negimaki (slices of beef artfully arranged "spoke-style" around green onions). As an appetizer we ordered the Gyoza (Japanese dumplings) and the Sashimi appetizer. We also took the advice of the waitress and ordered two sushi-style pieces of the salmon that was the daily special. We were served some of the best Miso soup I've had, and were then blown away by the beautiful presentation of the sashime appetizer. Everything, from the white fish to the tuna and shrimp, was incredibly fresh, firm, and delicious. The Gyoza dumplings were perfectly prepared and very tasty. The salmon sushi was creamy, delicious, and melted in your mouth. Main courses were another wonderful surprise. The Bento boxes were a treat for the eyes as well as the stomach (and the soul). The Negimaki was tender and delicious, and the tempura were lightly breaded and perfectly fried. The batter was delicious and took absolutely nothing away from the taste of the fresh vegetables. Everything was perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. The waitstaff was very attentive to our needs, and the result was a very enjoyable dining experience. My only regret is that we hadn't tried this place sooner! We will be back when looking for great sashimi, sushi, or tempura.

I do not give one star reviews lightly, I assure you. I think we have a responsibility as Yelpers to give the benefit of the doubt and state our experiences objectively. ... The excitement of Japanese food is in the artful presentation, delicate flavors and gracious service. This place offers NONE of that. I have tried Sushi House more than 6 times because of the convenient location, and it has only gotten lazier. Oh, prices are high and they act like they are doing YOU a favor, also. The only thing I can figure is that they are staying afloat on locals who are jonesing for sushi and don't want to drive far to get it. It's an insult to this thoughtful cuisine.

This is by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to! One night some friends and I wanted to get some sushi. We didn't feel like making the drive to RA in Lombard, so we went here. We ordered the fried tofu as an appetizer, and I can say without question that it was the worst single dish of my life! It was not edible, and we could not get the smell of rotting garbage out of our nose for the rest of the meal. I will never go back!

We have been eating here for a few years and noticed that the quality of food is getting worse. The sushi no longer tastes fresh, the rice falls apart when you pick it up with the chopsticks. We have also ordered the bento boxes which comes with teriyaki steak or chicken. The past 3 times that we came here, the steak is full of fat and cooked rare even though we have asked for medium well. Our last time here, I decided to order chicken and was horrified by the quality of chicken that was served. They douse it with so much sauce that you can't even see what type of meat your eating. I had plenty of leftovers and brought it home, couldn't even think of eating it, I rinsed it to just give it to our dogs and discovered that the chicken pieces were so nasty. All dark meat engrained with fat that i couldn't even serve it to our dogs, it looked like chicken by-products (for ~$15!) This place is so close to our house and have given it so many chances for our cravings, but now we will have to find someplace else. We will not be back!

The decor is beautiful and the service prompt and attentive. The quality of the fish was above average, however the prices are quite high. I ran in for a quick "snack" with my 11 year old son, and after one iced tea, and several rolls, the bill totaled $40 dollars. Not sure if I could afford to return for a family dinner, which I would assume would end up in the hundred dollar range.

Okay, I'm giving it four stars, but I would have to do 4 1/2 if there were half stars on here. The reason? It's really cold in this place...so cold, I got a headache eating there last week. Bring a sweater! My boyfriend and I love sushi, but we haven't been everywhere for it. We have been to about 10 or so places. Of the places, we've been, this is one of the best for sure. They have the freshest fish we've ever encountered at any sushi restaurant around. Particularly, the macarel and the yellowfin. Lastnight, we brought his family and they all agreed, it was some of the best they had ever had. One of us got a hot dish. Something with pork and peanuts and noodles. It was very good. We had 3 huge platters of everything you can think of. We ordered the Chicago Fire Roll, the Godzilla, some spicy tuna rolls and a couple others, I can't remember. We also got a plate of sashimi (yum!). It was so damn fresh. I imagine they have a difficult time selling dessert, because Tate's homemade ice cream is right around the corner. We left feeling satisfied and really good and full. Then we completely did ourselves in (to the point of sick) with the ice cream. Oh well, we don't see these people everyday, thank God.... I don't live in the city, so it's not a big deal to drive out to LaGrange. It is worth it if you are farther away. The atmosphere is really nice, not too crowded and you don't have to shout across the table to be heard. The service is also consistantly excellent. I think the bill came to around $260 with tip included for 6 people. (They did NOT add the tip into the bill, which is really cool.) We pigged out and ordered drinks too. Not too bad for a great time.

I have been going here for years, I am always skeptical to try new sushi places hearing horror stories of food poisoning. So yay for never getting sick from the La Grange Sushi House. I have also tried the Naperville location and pretty much the same in quality only difference is Naperville location cuts their veggies a little thicker which i don't like. I have tried the appetizers, sushi, and hot dishes. And all have been satisfying. I actually recommend their chicken fried rice or any combination of the fried rice you prefer. Their steak terryaki is also a favorite of mine, I tried the chicken and something about the way they cooked it left me never wanting to order it again, the texture was like the chicken wasn't cooked all the way through, though that is not a problem with any of the other chicken dishes just the terryaki. I always get the bento box its the better deal if you want a little of everything. You can choose between Steak, Chicken or Salmon and you also get a miso soup, shrimp and veggie tempura, and a california roll. Great deal and lots of food if you ask me! If you do take out from here make sure you have everything you ordered including all the little extras like soy sauce and so on they always forget especially when they are super busy .

Visited here on a whim for some sushi. The place is neatly tucked in a downtown area of Lagrange. The sushi was extremely fresh and delicious. You have to try the Lagrange roll! Would return again, but very pricy.

I've been to the one in Westmont, but ordered for delivery here. The delivery was quick even though grub hub said 70 to 80 minutes. I ordered the Tempura Udon, kids bento, sashimi, some nigiri, and the chicken teriyaki bento. I had no complaints about the udon. They give a lot of seafood and a great variety of tempura and two shrimps. The sashimi was delicious, but the portions were so small... I only had two nigiri, the tomago and ika. The tomago was plentiful but the ika was so tiny. The other sashimi was good as well, it's just the portion sizes that don't make it seem all that worth it. Lastly the two bento boxes, they also seemed the same to me except that the kids had only sweet potato tempura. If you're not a tempura person, I suggest you just get the kids bento.

My go-to place to come for sushi. It's never loud or crowded, and the sushi is always a great quality. The fatty salmon is always melt-in-your-mouth delicious. They have a lot of really creative rolls in addition to the more traditional ones as well. When you order a la carte (is that the correct term for sushi?), there's always a good sized piece of fish and rice. Non-sushi menu items are also pretty decent. We always get the cold spinach or the seaweed salad, which is tasty, and vegetable tempura. Bento boxes are a great deal for a taste of everything! Overall, I love Sushi House, and I know I will be back!

I work just down the street from this place. I'm quite the regular. The staff is always friendly, the pricing is decent and the food is always fresh. They also offer lunch specials until 3p. Monday thru Friday. I usually order the spicy tuna and sweet potato rolls with a hot and sour soup. I've also had their spider dragon rolls. Their chocolate molten cake is also delish. Not terribly impressed. We ordered to go since we have a baby and didn't want to be 'those parents' with the screaming infant. We figured there'd be a bit of a wait so we ordered and took our bundle of joy for a walk for the prescribed amount of time. We even gave them a few minutes extra. We return to the restaurant to get our food, nope, not ready...but...but it's been 20 minutes, you told us 15. Ok, well, I guess we'll wait. Oh, but you only have 2 chairs, both of which are already taken (one nice guy did give me his seat) in your tiny waiting area. So then we got to be 'those parents' that take up the entire waiting area with our stroller. Of course, that could have been avoided had you been accurate in your time frame. I think we must have waited at least another 10-15 minutes. The sushi was fine but not worth the wait or the cost. Woow on La Grange is better.

Reviews above 2 stars here must be from relatives and/or investors. Portions are minuscule, expensive and just production...not even approaching a sushi ethic or vibe. Go to Sushi House in Westmont within the same corporation but vastly different....or go to Standard Market,get excellent take out sushi and get a bottle of Cho Chi Kubi saki and watch Netflix for a delightful fraction of the cost!

I love the various Sushi Houses around Chicagoland. This is the one closest to where I live, and we've eaten here about 3 or 4 times. Always had good service, usually able to sit right away, and, as always, the eating is delicious! I'm a big fan of their "Volcano Roll", something they do at the locations I've been to, but various other sushi restaurants have something they call a volcano roll which is something different. This one has salmon, whitefish, & crabstick rolled w/ mayo then baked, topped with a spicy mayo. Yum! all the other Maki I've had were great, and the various individual sushi pieces are always a treat. It may be a chain, technically, but it's a small chain and all but one are in the Chicago area. Give them a shot.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and seated promptly. The restaurant was not that busy when we arrived and there were two servers working that had this system going where they both waited on all tables. It was a bit confusing at first but once we learned it made no difference who we placed orders with, it was fine as both were very pleasant and accommodating. The jalapeno hamachi appetizer presentation was fantastic! Served on a platter with a glowing red glass of dry ice, bubbling and smoking like a volcano, the fish was served with slices of jalapeno on top and was very good. Other appetizers of gyoza dumplings (fried vegetable and sausage) and tempura combo were good as well. Bento Box "C" with the salmon and tempura shrimp and the vegetable fried rice entrees were very good, sweet heart roll was excellent but the mackerel sushi special and terryaki chicken were disappointing. The mackerel, while very tasty, seemed very skimpy on the portion size for the price (only two razor thin slices served over two tablespoon sized balls of rice) and the terryaki chicken was horribly overcooked and served floating in lots of excessively sweet terryaki sauce. Overall, our group scored Sushi House a 3.5, which would have been a solid 4 if not for the two dishes. We will be back for another try though.

A favorite lunch stop for me. although I have not had dinner here, the lunches at the bar are consistently excellent. The fish is high end fresh and prepared in the traditional manner but with a modern twist. The lunch chef is a plating master. This is our go-to sushi place. We never have to wait to get a table, and usually sidle up to the bar at the back. We can enjoy the clown fish and other aquatic friends as a sideshow while we stuff our tummies with their cousins. The food is really fresh, and there are nice options. We always bring our coupon from the last dining check ($5 off), as the selections add up to a pricey total rather quickly. Bento box (B) with the teriyaki chicken is a usual favorite. My husband and I can share what he has in his, and order a couple of extra rolls and we're good to go. We always have chicken leftover for a second day snack. Favorites: Volcano roll, spicy tuna, rainbow roll, godzilla roll, and dragon roll. They also have nice specials to break up the 'usual'. Unfortunately, the extra star missing is attributed to one downside that translates into two: I find the tap water that they serve is highly unpalatable. I won't say what I think it really smells and tastes like, but it is a strange, off-putting experience that not even the lemon floating in it can erase. Because of this, I either have to abstain from the water or order a $6 Voss water. Two, if we both want to quench our thirst. What we probably should do is just have a beer or glass of wine. I do wish they would investigate the water---could we be the only ones who notice this? If they fixed that, I might be inclined to have an extra roll to take home for that $12 and be a bit happier when I leave---although I am usually pretty pleased with the food. We're extremely lucky that it is so close by that we can go on a moment's notice.

Nope. My wife and I have given Sushi House a few chances, but have come up unsatisfied and significantly poorer each time. The kicker was today when we ordered take out. The woman on the phone wasn't very polite. In fact, she was irritable and hung up so fast that she didn't get my name (which caused a bit of confusion later). I could rant about how important it is to be polite to the customers who provide you business, but being rude on the phone in itself doesn't constitute a poor Yelp review. What does is the sushi cost/sushi quality discrepancy. It comes down to this: every time we've ordered Sushi House (maybe a half dozen times over the last 5-7 years), it's always been so-so. Not terrible, but certainly not worth the premium price they charge. This time, though, we didn't even finish our food. It just didn't taste good. Not rotten, or anything. Just not good. If you have the time and the means, head to Maki Sushi in Park Ridge. The cost is the same, but the rolls are hands-down more satisfying. Sorry, Sushi House. I really, really wanted you to come through, but you fell flat. Incidentally, we're now looking for a quality sushi restaurant in the La Grange/Hinsdale area. Any suggestions?

I'm seeing a lot of hate on this restaurant. Here's the deal folks. I think if you stick to one and only one thing here, you will love this place. That one thing: Nabeyaki Udon. They follow it in the traditional manner here- inside a hot pot (even including the pot's top). Benito broth, various sea food (crab meat, fish cakes, tempura shrimp), cracked egg that poaches in the broth, spinach, green onions, wakame (a deep green type of sea weed) and of course those thick cut noodles. Served alongside the tempura prawn are some various tempura'd vegetables. In my experience with Udon, this is the best I have ever had. That includes trying it at various places in LA, Seattle and around town here in Chicago. Things can get a bit pricey here, but if you stick with ordering the Nabeyaki Udon you can keep your costs down. They also have a few reasonably priced maki rolls that you can order a la cart. Being the bland American I am, I have always been a fan of the California roll, and think it compliments my big bowl of hot soup quite well.

The Sushi House is an intimate Venue in La Grange, IL. There is plenty of parking as there is street parking and a lot across the street (for those of you who are afraid there will never be a space in La Grange where there seems to be no recession - to quote my father "What Recession?!?!"). On another note, there is a lovely fish tank at the bar area for kids and adults alike. It seems as though Friday nights are deemed family sushi night leaving Saturday as the quieter night, so if you're not a fan of kids go for Saturday. I highly recommend the PINK SUSHI ROLL. It is a specialty and it's pretty special.

I"m usually a Sushi House-er of Wheaton. Then was it fate....kismet..or that i just can never get the hang of the one way streets in LaGrange...but there it was and I SUPER HAPPY one is so close to my home :) 1) The atmosphere is beautiful and not the hokey look but clean and elegant. 2) Our hostess/server Li Lei was the ABSOLUTELY the best! She was super nice when greeting us and chatting with us and teasing me that i should have known they were there (for the past 9 years!) She also made a fantabulous suggestion - the sweetheart roll. YUMMY! 3) They always have in house a High Chef and two regular Chefs (no helpers) The High Chef wouldn't stand for it :) Their artistry in plating is what makes eating a joy. Yesterday I was working late and had a craving for sushi. I was in Brookfield and had no idea what sushi places were near. A quick internet search led to Sushi House in LaGrange, a mere five minute drive. I decided to try some rolls I never had before. I tried the spicy salmon and the diablo roll. Both were delicious. The spicy salmon was seriously spicy, but it was really good. The Diablo roll is my new favorite. Tempura shrimp, lettuce, and eel with a spicy sauce. It was amazing! I wish I got two of those. It was so good I already went back for lunch today. I had the sushi lunch. The california roll was yummy and the fish selections were very fresh and each had a little dab of wasabi which I actually liked. All in all, this is my new favorite sushi place and I really wanna try eating there for dinner.

That said, I have been to this place several times and have always had great service. My tea and water are constantly refilled and the waitresses stop by to ask how things are going. The sushi, sashimi, and maki rolls are all fantastic. I've never had anything else so I can't really speak to them. The fish is always fresh and the rolls well crafted. In addition to the standard fare, they have some really creative options. I was a big fan both of the La Grange and Mexican rolls and would recommend them to anyone. I even went there recently with a friend who doesn't really eat sushi and she was won over. The decor of the place is very low-key and they have a traditional sushi bar setup. The atmosphere is casual but nice and quiet for good conversation. I would definitely recommend this place.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some sushi - and this place knows how to do it. The sushi quality and freshness is unmatched - and I've been to alot of high-falutin' sushi bars. Of the many favorites that come to mind are the fresh salmon (it's like a rich pat of butter in your mouth. Well, that's kinda gross, who would eat a pat of butter? But you know what I mean.), the Green River Roll (unagi - delish!), and we always get the salmon roe with quail egg on top, and a few Uni shooters. Unnnnnhhhhhhh......(that's the sound effect of my eyes rolling back into my head with wanting.) We have never been disappointed, never ever. The service is great and the atmosphere is nice. It is pricey, however. But....addictions are expensive things to feed.....

The place has been upgraded since my last visit. The decor has been subtly improved and the menu has some added pizzaz. Food presentation has been upgraded also. The Chicago Fire roll arrives to the table literally flaming, and some other rolls have colored LED lights to increase the drama of the presentation. We had the Black Spider roll which is a black rice roll with tempura soft-shell crab inside, and eel (Unagi) on top. Delicious. A new item is a urchin (Uni) shooter - chunks of urchin in a small glass with a shot of soy-vinegar. It's a briny-vinegary treat. The star of the evening though, was the fatty salmon. I have never eaten a piece of fish like this. So decadent, creamy and subtle, almost like eating a fine pate de foie gras. Wow. If you ever get a chance to try this part of the salmon, go for it!

I've been called too easygoing with restaurants. This place takes the cake. First, when my party of 1 walked in, there was no other customer. It was a VERY cold day, so when they asked me what I'd like to drink, I asked them for Warm Water AND Green Tea. Right away, they started with the attitude... in their language of which I understood every single word. Then, I proceeded to order my Entree. I asked to Substitute a roll for a roll. Yet again, ATTITUDES. For the money you pay to receieve the food, you should also get some respect. All in All, if you don't understand the language, consider yourself lucky. You CAN'T listen to all that abuse.

Why sooo freaking expensive? 1 satay app, 2 glasses of wine, two bowls of soup, 3 rolls -- dum dum dum -- $75. WTF? There are plenty of quality sushi places in Chicago that don't cost that much. I had a $13 roll that was, like, 7 skimpy rounds. Why such tiny rolls? Why. so. skimpy. I mean, it was tasty, but soooo not worth it. I would never really go back unless, hrmmm.... Sushi House....our first date with Reuben...so of course I am sentimental about the place! I like their rolls but we were mostly going there for their udon. We moved in the city now and not going over there as often as before but it was one of our staples for quite a while. The ambiance is nice even if the music gets a little bit annoying when you are a regular (it's basically the same CD they play over and over again. Don't know how THEY can deal with it!!). It's a very pleasant experience - and parking is never a problem!!

I will forgive the staff of the Sushi House for last night's experience, because we just happened to pick the worst night to go to LaGrange because there was so much going (benefit concert, what looked like a commercial shoot). We waited for over a half hour to be seated when there were three open tables that just needed to be cleared off. But it's okay... All was made up with their delicious food. I had the Dragon and Godzilla rolls, and both were delish. The Godzilla roll melted in mouth and had a great crunchy/creamy texture (yes, it was both). My boyfriend had the Spider and Spicy Tuna rolls. The Spicy Tuna was slightly bland, but I've had worse. We definitely plan on going back, but will probably get take out next time.

Ate here for lunch before doing some shopping a few days ago. Seated immediately, was only one other table and myself with my sleeping 1 yr old. Took awhile for the waitress to come back after seating me. Ordered the 2 roll lunch special. Tuna and King Kong. Was delicious. Only complaint... Which is a huge one... Apparently caught a bug. I have been very ill for the past 2, going on 3, days. Considering this was the only thing I ate Monday, I am assuming this is the source. I love sushi, and eat it quite frequently, and this was a very good place, but I will not be going again because this has been the worst illness I have had.

It IS pricey. That said, it is a quality establishment with none of the chinese/thai madness that seems to creep onto other sushi menus in the city. Their lunch bento boxes compare favorably with bentos ive had nationwide, and the daily special box sneaks some more interesting Japanese cuisine into the mix. The fish is decidedly top notch here, while items such as the teriyaki and tempura are solid and light. I haven't gone for the rolls, but I've found that decent rolls tend to cost a bunch anyway. Overall its a good experience, the staff is very professional and courteous. Since it ends up being a $11-15 lunch, it isn't a place I frequent on a regular basis.

The best service and sushi money can buy. I am a sushi snob and couldn't believe how great and fresh the sushi is here. Moreover, the non-sushi items are great, i.e. the streak teriyaki, tempura, etc. If you don't mind driving to La Grange OR in the neighborhood and want great sushi and a great atmosphere that isn't loud or a place to be seen...go to the Sushi House. I reallly think it is better than most sushi restaurants in the city.

This is by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to! One night some friends and I wanted to get some sushi. We didn't feel like making the drive to RA in Lombard, so we went here. We ordered the fried tofu as an appetizer, and I can say without question that it was the worst single dish of my life! It was not edible, and we could not get the smell of rotting garbage out of our nose for the rest of the meal. I will never go back!

We have been eating here for a few years and noticed that the quality of food is getting worse. The sushi no longer tastes fresh, the rice falls apart when you pick it up with the chopsticks. We have also ordered the bento boxes which comes with teriyaki steak or chicken. The past 3 times that we came here, the steak is full of fat and cooked rare even though we have asked for medium well. Our last time here, I decided to order chicken and was horrified by the quality of chicken that was served. They douse it with so much sauce that you can't even see what type of meat your eating. I had plenty of leftovers and brought it home, couldn't even think of eating it, I rinsed it to just give it to our dogs and discovered that the chicken pieces were so nasty. All dark meat engrained with fat that i couldn't even serve it to our dogs, it looked like chicken by-products (for ~$15!) This place is so close to our house and have given it so many chances for our cravings, but now we will have to find someplace else. We will not be back!

The decor is beautiful and the service prompt and attentive. The quality of the fish was above average, however the prices are quite high. I ran in for a quick "snack" with my 11 year old son, and after one iced tea, and several rolls, the bill totaled $40 dollars. Not sure if I could afford to return for a family dinner, which I would assume would end up in the hundred dollar range.

Yesterday I was working late and had a craving for sushi. I was in Brookfield and had no idea what sushi places were near. A quick internet search led to Sushi House in LaGrange, a mere five minute drive. I decided to try some rolls I never had before. I tried the spicy salmon and the diablo roll. Both were delicious. The spicy salmon was seriously spicy, but it was really good. The Diablo roll is my new favorite. Tempura shrimp, lettuce, and eel with a spicy sauce. It was amazing! I wish I got two of those. It was so good I already went back for lunch today. I had the sushi lunch. The california roll was yummy and the fish selections were very fresh and each had a little dab of wasabi which I actually liked. All in all, this is my new favorite sushi place and I really wanna try eating there for dinner.

So, this is not an angry rant but more of a suggestion: today while shopping in downtown LaGrange, we decided to have lunch here. While yes I know it is a Sushi place, it was somewhat empty, being that I have 2 year old twins (one of which has a slight learning disability) we went in for lunch. My son does get a bit loud when he gets excited but today he was not too bad. He yells yay and claps but nothing too disruptive. I try to be considerate of my surroundings, since there were maybe 3 other tables and he wasn't being too loud we ordered. Our waitress brings out the soup and asks if we can keep our son quiet. I was shocked since this has never happened before and we have been to much nicer places where he has been in full on excited mode. We immediately leave to avoid any further embarrassment. So my only suggestion would be to please place a sign letting your customers know children with disabilities or any excited child for that matter is not welcome at your establishment. I am not upset or even offended as the young lady was very nice about it as was I. Had I known children who unfortunately cannot be controlled due to disabilities would be of issue, I would have saved you and myself the time and embarrassment. I have ordered food from here and it is overpriced ( Try Chiba in Darien $8.99 3 sushi roll lunch specials with soup and a delicious cucumber salad). Please save your rude comments as I am not being rude or dissing the place, just suggesing as a heads up to let potential patrons know of your "slightly loud kids not welcome, with or without disabilities" rule.

The Sushi House is great! Their restaurant is clean and they have a very attentive wait staff. I personally think that most of the rolls are small, so I usually have to order more so that I am full. I always start with Miso soup and Edamame! Try it out!

Visited here on a whim for some sushi. The place is neatly tucked in a downtown area of Lagrange. The sushi was extremely fresh and delicious. You have to try the Lagrange roll! Would return again, but very pricy.

I've been to the one in Westmont, but ordered for delivery here. The delivery was quick even though grub hub said 70 to 80 minutes. I ordered the Tempura Udon, kids bento, sashimi, some nigiri, and the chicken teriyaki bento. I had no complaints about the udon. They give a lot of seafood and a great variety of tempura and two shrimps. The sashimi was delicious, but the portions were so small... I only had two nigiri, the tomago and ika. The tomago was plentiful but the ika was so tiny. The other sashimi was good as well, it's just the portion sizes that don't make it seem all that worth it. Lastly the two bento boxes, they also seemed the same to me except that the kids had only sweet potato tempura. If you're not a tempura person, I suggest you just get the kids bento.

My go-to place to come for sushi. It's never loud or crowded, and the sushi is always a great quality. The fatty salmon is always melt-in-your-mouth delicious. They have a lot of really creative rolls in addition to the more traditional ones as well. When you order a la carte (is that the correct term for sushi?), there's always a good sized piece of fish and rice. Non-sushi menu items are also pretty decent. We always get the cold spinach or the seaweed salad, which is tasty, and vegetable tempura. Bento boxes are a great deal for a taste of everything! Overall, I love Sushi House, and I know I will be back!

Not terribly impressed. We ordered to go since we have a baby and didn't want to be 'those parents' with the screaming infant. We figured there'd be a bit of a wait so we ordered and took our bundle of joy for a walk for the prescribed amount of time. We even gave them a few minutes extra. We return to the restaurant to get our food, nope, not ready...but...but it's been 20 minutes, you told us 15. Ok, well, I guess we'll wait. Oh, but you only have 2 chairs, both of which are already taken (one nice guy did give me his seat) in your tiny waiting area. So then we got to be 'those parents' that take up the entire waiting area with our stroller. Of course, that could have been avoided had you been accurate in your time frame. I think we must have waited at least another 10-15 minutes. The sushi was fine but not worth the wait or the cost. Woow on La Grange is better.

Reviews above 2 stars here must be from relatives and/or investors. Portions are minuscule, expensive and just production...not even approaching a sushi ethic or vibe. Go to Sushi House in Westmont within the same corporation but vastly different....or go to Standard Market,get excellent take out sushi and get a bottle of Cho Chi Kubi saki and watch Netflix for a delightful fraction of the cost!

I love the various Sushi Houses around Chicagoland. This is the one closest to where I live, and we've eaten here about 3 or 4 times. Always had good service, usually able to sit right away, and, as always, the eating is delicious! I'm a big fan of their "Volcano Roll", something they do at the locations I've been to, but various other sushi restaurants have something they call a volcano roll which is something different. This one has salmon, whitefish, & crabstick rolled w/ mayo then baked, topped with a spicy mayo. Yum! all the other Maki I've had were great, and the various individual sushi pieces are always a treat. It may be a chain, technically, but it's a small chain and all but one are in the Chicago area. Give them a shot.

I don't remember the names of everything we got but I do remember that the veggies were fresh and the rice was nice and soft. Not dried out. The flavors went well together and each roll was distinct from the other. My husband ordered the terriyaki steak and enjoyed that as well. It was a good portion of meat and came with rice. My only issue is that the rolls are small. Much smaller than other places I have been. If you go, try to reserve the sunken table by the window. It looks like a very fun and intimate spot for a group.

I ordered a Kirin Ichiban lager beer and we perused the large selection of dinners, sushi rolls, bento boxes, and appetizers. I decided on the Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box (Salmon Teriyaki, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and a California roll). My wife ordered the Vegetable Tempura, our son the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box, and his girlfriend ordered the Beef Negimaki (slices of beef artfully arranged "spoke-style" around green onions). As an appetizer we ordered the Gyoza (Japanese dumplings) and the Sashimi appetizer. We also took the advice of the waitress and ordered two sushi-style pieces of the salmon that was the daily special. We were served some of the best Miso soup I've had, and were then blown away by the beautiful presentation of the sashime appetizer. Everything, from the white fish to the tuna and shrimp, was incredibly fresh, firm, and delicious. The Gyoza dumplings were perfectly prepared and very tasty. The salmon sushi was creamy, delicious, and melted in your mouth. Main courses were another wonderful surprise. The Bento boxes were a treat for the eyes as well as the stomach (and the soul). The Negimaki was tender and delicious, and the tempura were lightly breaded and perfectly fried. The batter was delicious and took absolutely nothing away from the taste of the fresh vegetables. Everything was perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. The waitstaff was very attentive to our needs, and the result was a very enjoyable dining experience. My only regret is that we hadn't tried this place sooner! We will be back when looking for great sashimi, sushi, or tempura.

I do not give one star reviews lightly, I assure you. I think we have a responsibility as Yelpers to give the benefit of the doubt and state our experiences objectively. ... The excitement of Japanese food is in the artful presentation, delicate flavors and gracious service. This place offers NONE of that. I have tried Sushi House more than 6 times because of the convenient location, and it has only gotten lazier. Oh, prices are high and they act like they are doing YOU a favor, also. The only thing I can figure is that they are staying afloat on locals who are jonesing for sushi and don't want to drive far to get it. It's an insult to this thoughtful cuisine.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and seated promptly. The restaurant was not that busy when we arrived and there were two servers working that had this system going where they both waited on all tables. It was a bit confusing at first but once we learned it made no difference who we placed orders with, it was fine as both were very pleasant and accommodating. The jalapeno hamachi appetizer presentation was fantastic! Served on a platter with a glowing red glass of dry ice, bubbling and smoking like a volcano, the fish was served with slices of jalapeno on top and was very good. Other appetizers of gyoza dumplings (fried vegetable and sausage) and tempura combo were good as well. Bento Box "C" with the salmon and tempura shrimp and the vegetable fried rice entrees were very good, sweet heart roll was excellent but the mackerel sushi special and terryaki chicken were disappointing. The mackerel, while very tasty, seemed very skimpy on the portion size for the price (only two razor thin slices served over two tablespoon sized balls of rice) and the terryaki chicken was horribly overcooked and served floating in lots of excessively sweet terryaki sauce. Overall, our group scored Sushi House a 3.5, which would have been a solid 4 if not for the two dishes. We will be back for another try though.

A favorite lunch stop for me. although I have not had dinner here, the lunches at the bar are consistently excellent. The fish is high end fresh and prepared in the traditional manner but with a modern twist. The lunch chef is a plating master. Many of his creations have hit my Facebook page and he seems delighted to continue to out do himself with each visit. This is our go-to sushi place. We never have to wait to get a table, and usually sidle up to the bar at the back. We can enjoy the clown fish and other aquatic friends as a sideshow while we stuff our tummies with their cousins. The food is really fresh, and there are nice options. We always bring our coupon from the last dining check ($5 off), as the selections add up to a pricey total rather quickly. Bento box (B) with the teriyaki chicken is a usual favorite. My husband and I can share what he has in his, and order a couple of extra rolls and we're good to go. We always have chicken leftover for a second day snack. Favorites: Volcano roll, spicy tuna, rainbow roll, godzilla roll, and dragon roll. They also have nice specials to break up the 'usual'. Unfortunately, the extra star missing is attributed to one downside that translates into two: I find the tap water that they serve is highly unpalatable. I won't say what I think it really smells and tastes like, but it is a strange, off-putting experience that not even the lemon floating in it can erase. Because of this, I either have to abstain from the water or order a $6 Voss water. Two, if we both want to quench our thirst. What we probably should do is just have a beer or glass of wine. I do wish they would investigate the water---could we be the only ones who notice this? If they fixed that, I might be inclined to have an extra roll to take home for that $12 and be a bit happier when I leave---although I am usually pretty pleased with the food. We're extremely lucky that it is so close by that we can go on a moment's notice.

Nope. My wife and I have given Sushi House a few chances, but have come up unsatisfied and significantly poorer each time. The kicker was today when we ordered take out. The woman on the phone wasn't very polite. In fact, she was irritable and hung up so fast that she didn't get my name (which caused a bit of confusion later). I could rant about how important it is to be polite to the customers who provide you business, but being rude on the phone in itself doesn't constitute a poor Yelp review. What does is the sushi cost/sushi quality discrepancy. It comes down to this: every time we've ordered Sushi House (maybe a half dozen times over the last 5-7 years), it's always been so-so. Not terrible, but certainly not worth the premium price they charge. This time, though, we didn't even finish our food. It just didn't taste good. Not rotten, or anything. Just not good. If you have the time and the means, head to Maki Sushi in Park Ridge. The cost is the same, but the rolls are hands-down more satisfying. Sorry, Sushi House. I really, really wanted you to come through, but you fell flat. Incidentally, we're now looking for a quality sushi restaurant in the La Grange/Hinsdale area. Any suggestions?

I'm seeing a lot of hate on this restaurant. Here's the deal folks. I think if you stick to one and only one thing here, you will love this place. That one thing: Nabeyaki Udon. They follow it in the traditional manner here- inside a hot pot (even including the pot's top). Benito broth, various sea food (crab meat, fish cakes, tempura shrimp), cracked egg that poaches in the broth, spinach, green onions, wakame (a deep green type of sea weed) and of course those thick cut noodles. Served alongside the tempura prawn are some various tempura'd vegetables. In my experience with Udon, this is the best I have ever had. That includes trying it at various places in LA, Seattle and around town here in Chicago. Things can get a bit pricey here, but if you stick with ordering the Nabeyaki Udon you can keep your costs down. They also have a few reasonably priced maki rolls that you can order a la cart. Being the bland American I am, I have always been a fan of the California roll, and think it compliments my big bowl of hot soup quite well.

The Sushi House is an intimate Venue in La Grange, IL. There is plenty of parking as there is street parking and a lot across the street (for those of you who are afraid there will never be a space in La Grange where there seems to be no recession - to quote my father "What Recession?!?!"). On another note, there is a lovely fish tank at the bar area for kids and adults alike. It seems as though Friday nights are deemed family sushi night leaving Saturday as the quieter night, so if you're not a fan of kids go for Saturday. I highly recommend the PINK SUSHI ROLL. It is a specialty and it's pretty special.

Then was it fate....kismet..or that i just can never get the hang of the one way streets in LaGrange...but there it was and I SUPER HAPPY one is so close to my home :) 1) The atmosphere is beautiful and not the hokey look but clean and elegant. 2) Our hostess/server Li Lei was the ABSOLUTELY the best! She was super nice when greeting us and chatting with us and teasing me that i should have known they were there (for the past 9 years!) She also made a fantabulous suggestion - the sweetheart roll. YUMMY! 3) They always have in house a High Chef and two regular Chefs (no helpers) The High Chef wouldn't stand for it :) Their artistry in plating is what makes eating a joy. Not to mention the fish is super fresh (even when I was there at 8pm on a Tuesday) 4) New Lunch special 2 Rolls $9.99 (going back for that soon I hope) 5) Sapporo was lovely and Li Lei talked me through the sakes and i tried one that I like and now cannot remember. **next time I want to order the fire dragon rolls** It's a bunch of spicy rolls made to look like a dragon and they bring it to you ON FIRE!

I've been called too easygoing with restaurants. This place takes the cake. First, when my party of 1 walked in, there was no other customer. It was a VERY cold day, so when they asked me what I'd like to drink, I asked them for Warm Water AND Green Tea. Right away, they started with the attitude... in their language of which I understood every single word. Then, I proceeded to order my Entree. I asked to Substitute a roll for a roll. Yet again, ATTITUDES. For the money you pay to receieve the food, you should also get some respect. All in All, if you don't understand the language, consider yourself lucky. You CAN'T listen to all that abuse.

Why sooo freaking expensive? 1 satay app, 2 glasses of wine, two bowls of soup, 3 rolls -- dum dum dum -- $75. WTF? There are plenty of quality sushi places in Chicago that don't cost that much. I had a $13 roll that was, like, 7 skimpy rounds. Why such tiny rolls? Why. so. skimpy. I mean, it was tasty, but soooo not worth it. I would never really go back unless, hrmmm.... Sushi House....our first date with Reuben...so of course I am sentimental about the place! I like their rolls but we were mostly going there for their udon. We moved in the city now and not going over there as often as before but it was one of our staples for quite a while. The ambiance is nice even if the music gets a little bit annoying when you are a regular (it's basically the same CD they play over and over again. Don't know how THEY can deal with it!!). It's a very pleasant experience - and parking is never a problem!!

I will forgive the staff of the Sushi House for last night's experience, because we just happened to pick the worst night to go to LaGrange because there was so much going (benefit concert, what looked like a commercial shoot). We waited for over a half hour to be seated when there were three open tables that just needed to be cleared off. But it's okay... All was made up with their delicious food. I had the Dragon and Godzilla rolls, and both were delish. The Godzilla roll melted in mouth and had a great crunchy/creamy texture (yes, it was both). My boyfriend had the Spider and Spicy Tuna rolls. The Spicy Tuna was slightly bland, but I've had worse. We definitely plan on going back, but will probably get take out next time.

Ate here for lunch before doing some shopping a few days ago. Seated immediately, was only one other table and myself with my sleeping 1 yr old. Took awhile for the waitress to come back after seating me. Ordered the 2 roll lunch special. Tuna and King Kong. Was delicious. Only complaint... Which is a huge one... Apparently caught a bug. I have been very ill for the past 2, going on 3, days. Considering this was the only thing I ate Monday, I am assuming this is the source. I love sushi, and eat it quite frequently, and this was a very good place, but I will not be going again because this has been the worst illness I have had.

It IS pricey. That said, it is a quality establishment with none of the chinese/thai madness that seems to creep onto other sushi menus in the city. Their lunch bento boxes compare favorably with bentos ive had nationwide, and the daily special box sneaks some more interesting Japanese cuisine into the mix. The fish is decidedly top notch here, while items such as the teriyaki and tempura are solid and light. I haven't gone for the rolls, but I've found that decent rolls tend to cost a bunch anyway. Overall its a good experience, the staff is very professional and courteous. Since it ends up being a $11-15 lunch, it isn't a place I frequent on a regular basis.

The best service and sushi money can buy. I am a sushi snob and couldn't believe how great and fresh the sushi is here. Moreover, the non-sushi items are great, i.e. the streak teriyaki, tempura, etc. If you don't mind driving to La Grange OR in the neighborhood and want great sushi and a great atmosphere that isn't loud or a place to be seen...go to the Sushi House. I reallly think it is better than most sushi restaurants in the city.

I have been going here for years, I am always skeptical to try new sushi places hearing horror stories of food poisoning. So yay for never getting sick from the La Grange Sushi House. I have also tried the Naperville location and pretty much the same in quality only difference is Naperville location cuts their veggies a little thicker which i don't like. I have tried the appetizers, sushi, and hot dishes. And all have been satisfying. I actually recommend their chicken fried rice or any combination of the fried rice you prefer. Their steak terryaki is also a favorite of mine, I tried the chicken and something about the way they cooked it left me never wanting to order it again, the texture was like the chicken wasn't cooked all the way through, though that is not a problem with any of the other chicken dishes just the terryaki. I always get the bento box its the better deal if you want a little of everything. You can choose between Steak, Chicken or Salmon and you also get a miso soup, shrimp and veggie tempura, and a california roll. Great deal and lots of food if you ask me! If you do take out from here make sure you have everything you ordered including all the little extras like soy sauce and so on they always forget especially when they are super busy .

Okay, I'm giving it four stars, but I would have to do 4 1/2 if there were half stars on here. The reason? It's really cold in this place...so cold, I got a headache eating there last week. Bring a sweater! My boyfriend and I love sushi, but we haven't been everywhere for it. We have been to about 10 or so places. Of the places, we've been, this is one of the best for sure. They have the freshest fish we've ever encountered at any sushi restaurant around. Particularly, the macarel and the yellowfin. Lastnight, we brought his family and they all agreed, it was some of the best they had ever had. One of us got a hot dish. Something with pork and peanuts and noodles. It was very good. We had 3 huge platters of everything you can think of. We ordered the Chicago Fire Roll, the Godzilla, some spicy tuna rolls and a couple others, I can't remember. We also got a plate of sashimi (yum!). It was so damn fresh. I imagine they have a difficult time selling dessert, because Tate's homemade ice cream is right around the corner. We left feeling satisfied and really good and full. Then we completely did ourselves in (to the point of sick) with the ice cream. Oh well, we don't see these people everyday, thank God.... I don't live in the city, so it's not a big deal to drive out to LaGrange. It is worth it if you are farther away. The atmosphere is really nice, not too crowded and you don't have to shout across the table to be heard. The service is also consistantly excellent. I think the bill came to around $260 with tip included for 6 people. (They did NOT add the tip into the bill, which is really cool.) We pigged out and ordered drinks too. Not too bad for a great time.

So, this is not an angry rant but more of a suggestion: today while shopping in downtown LaGrange, we decided to have lunch here. While yes I know it is a Sushi place, it was somewhat empty, being that I have 2 year old twins (one of which has a slight learning disability) we went in for lunch. My son does get a bit loud when he gets excited but today he was not too bad. He yells yay and claps but nothing too disruptive. I try to be considerate of my surroundings, since there were maybe 3 other tables and he wasn't being too loud we ordered. Our waitress brings out the soup and asks if we can keep our son quiet. I was shocked since this has never happened before and we have been to much nicer places where he has been in full on excited mode. We immediately leave to avoid any further embarrassment. So my only suggestion would be to please place a sign letting your customers know children with disabilities or any excited child for that matter is not welcome at your establishment. I am not upset or even offended as the young lady was very nice about it as was I. Had I known children who unfortunately cannot be controlled due to disabilities would be of issue, I would have saved you and myself the time and embarrassment. I have ordered food from here and it is overpriced ( Try Chiba in Darien $8.99 3 sushi roll lunch specials with soup and a delicious cucumber salad). Please save your rude comments as I am not being rude or dissing the place, just suggesing as a heads up to let potential patrons know of your "slightly loud kids not welcome, with or without disabilities" rule.

I don't remember the names of everything we got but I do remember that the veggies were fresh and the rice was nice and soft. Not dried out. The flavors went well together and each roll was distinct from the other. My husband ordered the terriyaki steak and enjoyed that as well. It was a good portion of meat and came with rice. My only issue is that the rolls are small. Much smaller than other places I have been. If you go, try to reserve the sunken table by the window. It looks like a very fun and intimate spot for a group.

I'm a chick. I like pretty food. To be fair, I should mention that I've only had their vegetarian sushi, since it's always been carry-out sushi with mixed-company eaters. My vegetarian friends loved it, and this meat-eater found it to be satisfying and delicious. And quite pretty.

We have been eating here for a few years and noticed that the quality of food is getting worse. The sushi no longer tastes fresh, the rice falls apart when you pick it up with the chopsticks. We have also ordered the bento boxes which comes with teriyaki steak or chicken. The past 3 times that we came here, the steak is full of fat and cooked rare even though we have asked for medium well. Our last time here, I decided to order chicken and was horrified by the quality of chicken that was served. They douse it with so much sauce that you can't even see what type of meat your eating. I had plenty of leftovers and brought it home, couldn't even think of eating it, I rinsed it to just give it to our dogs and discovered that the chicken pieces were so nasty. All dark meat engrained with fat that i couldn't even serve it to our dogs, it looked like chicken by-products (for ~$15!) This place is so close to our house and have given it so many chances for our cravings, but now we will have to find someplace else. We will not be back!

Okay, I'm giving it four stars, but I would have to do 4 1/2 if there were half stars on here. The reason? It's really cold in this place...so cold, I got a headache eating there last week. Bring a sweater! My boyfriend and I love sushi, but we haven't been everywhere for it. We have been to about 10 or so places. Of the places, we've been, this is one of the best for sure. They have the freshest fish we've ever encountered at any sushi restaurant around. Particularly, the macarel and the yellowfin. Lastnight, we brought his family and they all agreed, it was some of the best they had ever had. One of us got a hot dish. Something with pork and peanuts and noodles. It was very good. We had 3 huge platters of everything you can think of. We ordered the Chicago Fire Roll, the Godzilla, some spicy tuna rolls and a couple others, I can't remember. We also got a plate of sashimi (yum!). It was so damn fresh. I imagine they have a difficult time selling dessert, because Tate's homemade ice cream is right around the corner. We left feeling satisfied and really good and full. Then we completely did ourselves in (to the point of sick) with the ice cream. Oh well, we don't see these people everyday, thank God.... I don't live in the city, so it's not a big deal to drive out to LaGrange. It is worth it if you are farther away. The atmosphere is really nice, not too crowded and you don't have to shout across the table to be heard. The service is also consistantly excellent. I think the bill came to around $260 with tip included for 6 people. (They did NOT add the tip into the bill, which is really cool.) We pigged out and ordered drinks too. Not too bad for a great time.

Good sushi for the money. Service was also very good. We had the Unagi, Spicy Tuna, Philadelphia roll and the La Grange roll. The spicy tuna wasn't very spicy and the La Grange was a little bland, but overall it was quite good.

I have been going here for years, I am always skeptical to try new sushi places hearing horror stories of food poisoning. So yay for never getting sick from the La Grange Sushi House. I have also tried the Naperville location and pretty much the same in quality only difference is Naperville location cuts their veggies a little thicker which i don't like. I have tried the appetizers, sushi, and hot dishes. And all have been satisfying. I actually recommend their chicken fried rice or any combination of the fried rice you prefer. Their steak terryaki is also a favorite of mine, I tried the chicken and something about the way they cooked it left me never wanting to order it again, the texture was like the chicken wasn't cooked all the way through, though that is not a problem with any of the other chicken dishes just the terryaki. I always get the bento box its the better deal if you want a little of everything. You can choose between Steak, Chicken or Salmon and you also get a miso soup, shrimp and veggie tempura, and a california roll. Great deal and lots of food if you ask me! If you do take out from here make sure you have everything you ordered including all the little extras like soy sauce and so on they always forget especially when they are super busy .

Visited here on a whim for some sushi. The place is neatly tucked in a downtown area of Lagrange. The sushi was extremely fresh and delicious. You have to try the Lagrange roll! Would return again, but very pricy.

I've been to the one in Westmont, but ordered for delivery here. The delivery was quick even though grub hub said 70 to 80 minutes. I ordered the Tempura Udon, kids bento, sashimi, some nigiri, and the chicken teriyaki bento. I had no complaints about the udon. They give a lot of seafood and a great variety of tempura and two shrimps. The sashimi was delicious, but the portions were so small... I only had two nigiri, the tomago and ika. The tomago was plentiful but the ika was so tiny. The other sashimi was good as well, it's just the portion sizes that don't make it seem all that worth it. Lastly the two bento boxes, they also seemed the same to me except that the kids had only sweet potato tempura. If you're not a tempura person, I suggest you just get the kids bento.

This place has gone very down hill. Went for Valentine's Day - cold soup and literally frozen salmon. Everything was nasty and expensive. Love sushi but wouldn't go back if you paid me. Also waited forever to get the frozen salmon. New management?

My go-to place to come for sushi. It's never loud or crowded, and the sushi is always a great quality. The fatty salmon is always melt-in-your-mouth delicious. They have a lot of really creative rolls in addition to the more traditional ones as well. When you order a la carte (is that the correct term for sushi?), there's always a good sized piece of fish and rice. Non-sushi menu items are also pretty decent. We always get the cold spinach or the seaweed salad, which is tasty, and vegetable tempura. Bento boxes are a great deal for a taste of everything! Overall, I love Sushi House, and I know I will be back!

Always good for sushi. I take my children who love the Bento boxes. Tried the front room with pillows and while fun, a bit difficult with children and crazy cold in February. Staff is very polite and patient and my yelp check-in coupon was honored without a thought.

I work just down the street from this place. I'm quite the regular. The staff is always friendly, the pricing is decent and the food is always fresh. They also offer lunch specials until 3p. Monday thru Friday. I usually order the spicy tuna and sweet potato rolls with a hot and sour soup. I've also had their spider dragon rolls. Their chocolate molten cake is also delish. Highly recommend stopping by.

Not terribly impressed. We ordered to go since we have a baby and didn't want to be 'those parents' with the screaming infant. We figured there'd be a bit of a wait so we ordered and took our bundle of joy for a walk for the prescribed amount of time. We even gave them a few minutes extra. We return to the restaurant to get our food, nope, not ready...but...but it's been 20 minutes, you told us 15. Ok, well, I guess we'll wait. Oh, but you only have 2 chairs, both of which are already taken (one nice guy did give me his seat) in your tiny waiting area. So then we got to be 'those parents' that take up the entire waiting area with our stroller. Of course, that could have been avoided had you been accurate in your time frame. I think we must have waited at least another 10-15 minutes. The sushi was fine but not worth the wait or the cost. Woow on La Grange is better.

Reviews above 2 stars here must be from relatives and/or investors. Portions are minuscule, expensive and just production...not even approaching a sushi ethic or vibe. Go to Sushi House in Westmont within the same corporation but vastly different....or go to Standard Market,get excellent take out sushi and get a bottle of Cho Chi Kubi saki and watch Netflix for a delightful fraction of the cost!

I love the various Sushi Houses around Chicagoland. This is the one closest to where I live, and we've eaten here about 3 or 4 times. Always had good service, usually able to sit right away, and, as always, the eating is delicious! I'm a big fan of their "Volcano Roll", something they do at the locations I've been to, but various other sushi restaurants have something they call a volcano roll which is something different. This one has salmon, whitefish, & crabstick rolled w/ mayo then baked, topped with a spicy mayo. Yum! all the other Maki I've had were great, and the various individual sushi pieces are always a treat. It may be a chain, technically, but it's a small chain and all but one are in the Chicago area. Give them a shot.

I am yet again a fan of sushi house! I received a yelp message from the owner apologizing for any previous inconvenience and invited me to try the sushi house again. I went yesterday and I can honestly say I noticed the difference right away. No more digestive tract in their shrimp and the sushi even seemed to taste better. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and seated promptly. The restaurant was not that busy when we arrived and there were two servers working that had this system going where they both waited on all tables. It was a bit confusing at first but once we learned it made no difference who we placed orders with, it was fine as both were very pleasant and accommodating. The jalapeno hamachi appetizer presentation was fantastic! Served on a platter with a glowing red glass of dry ice, bubbling and smoking like a volcano, the fish was served with slices of jalapeno on top and was very good. Other appetizers of gyoza dumplings (fried vegetable and sausage) and tempura combo were good as well. Bento Box "C" with the salmon and tempura shrimp and the vegetable fried rice entrees were very good, sweet heart roll was excellent but the mackerel sushi special and terryaki chicken were disappointing. The mackerel, while very tasty, seemed very skimpy on the portion size for the price (only two razor thin slices served over two tablespoon sized balls of rice) and the terryaki chicken was horribly overcooked and served floating in lots of excessively sweet terryaki sauce. Overall, our group scored Sushi House a 3.5, which would have been a solid 4 if not for the two dishes. We will be back for another try though.

A favorite lunch stop for me. although I have not had dinner here, the lunches at the bar are consistently excellent. The fish is high end fresh and prepared in the traditional manner but with a modern twist. The lunch chef is a plating master. Many of his creations have hit my Facebook page and he seems delighted to continue to out do himself with each visit. This is our go-to sushi place. We never have to wait to get a table, and usually sidle up to the bar at the back. We can enjoy the clown fish and other aquatic friends as a sideshow while we stuff our tummies with their cousins. The food is really fresh, and there are nice options. We always bring our coupon from the last dining check ($5 off), as the selections add up to a pricey total rather quickly. Bento box (B) with the teriyaki chicken is a usual favorite. My husband and I can share what he has in his, and order a couple of extra rolls and we're good to go. We always have chicken leftover for a second day snack. Favorites: Volcano roll, spicy tuna, rainbow roll, godzilla roll, and dragon roll. They also have nice specials to break up the 'usual'. Unfortunately, the extra star missing is attributed to one downside that translates into two: I find the tap water that they serve is highly unpalatable. I won't say what I think it really smells and tastes like, but it is a strange, off-putting experience that not even the lemon floating in it can erase. Because of this, I either have to abstain from the water or order a $6 Voss water. Two, if we both want to quench our thirst. What we probably should do is just have a beer or glass of wine. I do wish they would investigate the water---could we be the only ones who notice this? If they fixed that, I might be inclined to have an extra roll to take home for that $12 and be a bit happier when I leave---although I am usually pretty pleased with the food. We're extremely lucky that it is so close by that we can go on a moment's notice.

Nope. My wife and I have given Sushi House a few chances, but have come up unsatisfied and significantly poorer each time. The kicker was today when we ordered take out. The woman on the phone wasn't very polite. In fact, she was irritable and hung up so fast that she didn't get my name (which caused a bit of confusion later). I could rant about how important it is to be polite to the customers who provide you business, but being rude on the phone in itself doesn't constitute a poor Yelp review. What does is the sushi cost/sushi quality discrepancy. It comes down to this: every time we've ordered Sushi House (maybe a half dozen times over the last 5-7 years), it's always been so-so. Not terrible, but certainly not worth the premium price they charge. This time, though, we didn't even finish our food. It just didn't taste good. Not rotten, or anything. Just not good. If you have the time and the means, head to Maki Sushi in Park Ridge. The cost is the same, but the rolls are hands-down more satisfying. Sorry, Sushi House. I really, really wanted you to come through, but you fell flat. Incidentally, we're now looking for a quality sushi restaurant in the La Grange/Hinsdale area. Any suggestions?

I'm seeing a lot of hate on this restaurant. Here's the deal folks. I think if you stick to one and only one thing here, you will love this place. That one thing: Nabeyaki Udon. They follow it in the traditional manner here- inside a hot pot (even including the pot's top). Benito broth, various sea food (crab meat, fish cakes, tempura shrimp), cracked egg that poaches in the broth, spinach, green onions, wakame (a deep green type of sea weed) and of course those thick cut noodles. Served alongside the tempura prawn are some various tempura'd vegetables. In my experience with Udon, this is the best I have ever had. That includes trying it at various places in LA, Seattle and around town here in Chicago. Things can get a bit pricey here, but if you stick with ordering the Nabeyaki Udon you can keep your costs down. They also have a few reasonably priced maki rolls that you can order a la cart. Being the bland American I am, I have always been a fan of the California roll, and think it compliments my big bowl of hot soup quite well.

The Sushi House is an intimate Venue in La Grange, IL. There is plenty of parking as there is street parking and a lot across the street (for those of you who are afraid there will never be a space in La Grange where there seems to be no recession - to quote my father "What Recession?!?!"). On another note, there is a lovely fish tank at the bar area for kids and adults alike. It seems as though Friday nights are deemed family sushi night leaving Saturday as the quieter night, so if you're not a fan of kids go for Saturday. I highly recommend the PINK SUSHI ROLL. It is a specialty and it's pretty special.

I"m usually a Sushi House-er of Wheaton. Then was it fate....kismet..or that i just can never get the hang of the one way streets in LaGrange...but there it was and I SUPER HAPPY one is so close to my home :) 1) The atmosphere is beautiful and not the hokey look but clean and elegant. 2) Our hostess/server Li Lei was the ABSOLUTELY the best! She was super nice when greeting us and chatting with us and teasing me that i should have known they were there (for the past 9 years!) She also made a fantabulous suggestion - the sweetheart roll. YUMMY! 3) They always have in house a High Chef and two regular Chefs (no helpers) The High Chef wouldn't stand for it :) Their artistry in plating is what makes eating a joy. Not to mention the fish is super fresh (even when I was there at 8pm on a Tuesday) 4) New Lunch special 2 Rolls $9.99 (going back for that soon I hope) 5) Sapporo was lovely and Li Lei talked me through the sakes and i tried one that I like and now cannot remember. **next time I want to order the fire dragon rolls** It's a bunch of spicy rolls made to look like a dragon and they bring it to you ON FIRE!

Yesterday I was working late and had a craving for sushi. I was in Brookfield and had no idea what sushi places were near. A quick internet search led to Sushi House in LaGrange, a mere five minute drive. I decided to try some rolls I never had before. I tried the spicy salmon and the diablo roll. Both were delicious. The spicy salmon was seriously spicy, but it was really good. The Diablo roll is my new favorite. Tempura shrimp, lettuce, and eel with a spicy sauce. It was amazing! I wish I got two of those. It was so good I already went back for lunch today. I had the sushi lunch. The california roll was yummy and the fish selections were very fresh and each had a little dab of wasabi which I actually liked. All in all, this is my new favorite sushi place and I really wanna try eating there for dinner.

I love this place. I am a latecomer to the world of sushi, only really starting to like it in college so my knowledge could be lacking. That said, I have been to this place several times and have always had great service. My tea and water are constantly refilled and the waitresses stop by to ask how things are going. The sushi, sashimi, and maki rolls are all fantastic. I've never had anything else so I can't really speak to them. The fish is always fresh and the rolls well crafted. In addition to the standard fare, they have some really creative options. I was a big fan both of the La Grange and Mexican rolls and would recommend them to anyone. I even went there recently with a friend who doesn't really eat sushi and she was won over. The decor of the place is very low-key and they have a traditional sushi bar setup. The atmosphere is casual but nice and quiet for good conversation. I would definitely recommend this place.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some sushi - and this place knows how to do it. The sushi quality and freshness is unmatched - and I've been to alot of high-falutin' sushi bars. Of the many favorites that come to mind are the fresh salmon (it's like a rich pat of butter in your mouth. Well, that's kinda gross, who would eat a pat of butter? But you know what I mean.), the Green River Roll (unagi - delish!), and we always get the salmon roe with quail egg on top, and a few Uni shooters. Unnnnnhhhhhhh......(that's the sound effect of my eyes rolling back into my head with wanting.) We have never been disappointed, never ever. The service is great and the atmosphere is nice. It is pricey, however. But....addictions are expensive things to feed.....

My husband and I have eaten at both the Oak Park and the La Grange Sushi House locations, and we have been thrilled with the service, the food quality, and the atmosphere every time. The service has always been very polite and helpful, and we have always finished every bite, no matter what we order. We love having such a delicious sushi restaurant in our neighborhood!

The place has been upgraded since my last visit. The decor has been subtly improved and the menu has some added pizzaz. Food presentation has been upgraded also. The Chicago Fire roll arrives to the table literally flaming, and some other rolls have colored LED lights to increase the drama of the presentation. We had the Black Spider roll which is a black rice roll with tempura soft-shell crab inside, and eel (Unagi) on top. Delicious. A new item is a urchin (Uni) shooter - chunks of urchin in a small glass with a shot of soy-vinegar. It's a briny-vinegary treat. The star of the evening though, was the fatty salmon. I have never eaten a piece of fish like this. So decadent, creamy and subtle, almost like eating a fine pate de foie gras. Wow. If you ever get a chance to try this part of the salmon, go for it!

The best service and freshest sushi I've ever had, bar none. This coming from someone who has been all over the country (trying sushi restaurants along the way) too. I got a chef's special sashimi platter and it was killer. EVERY SINGLE PIECE practically melted in my mouth.

The sushi here is always fresh and the portions are generous. The Sushi Pyramid is my favorite but the Fire Dragon roll is great too. The house Saki is amazing and they never microwave it. The service is just wonderful and the family in this place is just a delight. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is it is pricier than other places in this category.

I've been called too easygoing with restaurants. This place takes the cake. First, when my party of 1 walked in, there was no other customer. It was a VERY cold day, so when they asked me what I'd like to drink, I asked them for Warm Water AND Green Tea. Right away, they started with the attitude... in their language of which I understood every single word. Then, I proceeded to order my Entree. I asked to Substitute a roll for a roll. Yet again, ATTITUDES. For the money you pay to receieve the food, you should also get some respect. All in All, if you don't understand the language, consider yourself lucky. You CAN'T listen to all that abuse.

Why sooo freaking expensive? 1 satay app, 2 glasses of wine, two bowls of soup, 3 rolls -- dum dum dum -- $75. WTF? There are plenty of quality sushi places in Chicago that don't cost that much. I had a $13 roll that was, like, 7 skimpy rounds. Why such tiny rolls? Why. so. skimpy. I mean, it was tasty, but soooo not worth it. I would never really go back unless, hrmmm.... I lived in LaGrange and wanted sushi so bad I felt like I was dying.... and there was a blizzard... and I couldn't go anywhere else because of the snow... and I won the lottery... Yea... then I may go back.

Sushi House....our first date with Reuben...so of course I am sentimental about the place! I like their rolls but we were mostly going there for their udon. We moved in the city now and not going over there as often as before but it was one of our staples for quite a while. The ambiance is nice even if the music gets a little bit annoying when you are a regular (it's basically the same CD they play over and over again. Don't know how THEY can deal with it!!). It's a very pleasant experience - and parking is never a problem!!

I will forgive the staff of the Sushi House for last night's experience, because we just happened to pick the worst night to go to LaGrange because there was so much going (benefit concert, what looked like a commercial shoot). We waited for over a half hour to be seated when there were three open tables that just needed to be cleared off. But it's okay... All was made up with their delicious food. I had the Dragon and Godzilla rolls, and both were delish. The Godzilla roll melted in mouth and had a great crunchy/creamy texture (yes, it was both). My boyfriend had the Spider and Spicy Tuna rolls. The Spicy Tuna was slightly bland, but I've had worse. We definitely plan on going back, but will probably get take out next time.

Ate here for lunch before doing some shopping a few days ago. Seated immediately, was only one other table and myself with my sleeping 1 yr old. Took awhile for the waitress to come back after seating me. Ordered the 2 roll lunch special. Tuna and King Kong. Was delicious. Only complaint... Which is a huge one... Apparently caught a bug. I have been very ill for the past 2, going on 3, days. Considering this was the only thing I ate Monday, I am assuming this is the source. I love sushi, and eat it quite frequently, and this was a very good place, but I will not be going again because this has been the worst illness I have had.

It IS pricey. That said, it is a quality establishment with none of the chinese/thai madness that seems to creep onto other sushi menus in the city. Their lunch bento boxes compare favorably with bentos ive had nationwide, and the daily special box sneaks some more interesting Japanese cuisine into the mix. The fish is decidedly top notch here, while items such as the teriyaki and tempura are solid and light. I haven't gone for the rolls, but I've found that decent rolls tend to cost a bunch anyway. Overall its a good experience, the staff is very professional and courteous. Since it ends up being a $11-15 lunch, it isn't a place I frequent on a regular basis.

The best service and sushi money can buy. I am a sushi snob and couldn't believe how great and fresh the sushi is here. Moreover, the non-sushi items are great, i.e. the streak teriyaki, tempura, etc. If you don't mind driving to La Grange OR in the neighborhood and want great sushi and a great atmosphere that isn't loud or a place to be seen...go to the Sushi House. I reallly think it is better than most sushi restaurants in the city.

This is by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to! One night some friends and I wanted to get some sushi. We didn't feel like making the drive to RA in Lombard, so we went here. We ordered the fried tofu as an appetizer, and I can say without question that it was the worst single dish of my life! It was not edible, and we could not get the smell of rotting garbage out of our nose for the rest of the meal. I will never go back!

We have been eating here for a few years and noticed that the quality of food is getting worse. The sushi no longer tastes fresh, the rice falls apart when you pick it up with the chopsticks. We have also ordered the bento boxes which comes with teriyaki steak or chicken. The past 3 times that we came here, the steak is full of fat and cooked rare even though we have asked for medium well. Our last time here, I decided to order chicken and was horrified by the quality of chicken that was served. They douse it with so much sauce that you can't even see what type of meat your eating. I had plenty of leftovers and brought it home, couldn't even think of eating it, I rinsed it to just give it to our dogs and discovered that the chicken pieces were so nasty. All dark meat engrained with fat that i couldn't even serve it to our dogs, it looked like chicken by-products (for ~$15!) This place is so close to our house and have given it so many chances for our cravings, but now we will have to find someplace else. We will not be back!

The decor is beautiful and the service prompt and attentive. The quality of the fish was above average, however the prices are quite high. I ran in for a quick "snack" with my 11 year old son, and after one iced tea, and several rolls, the bill totaled $40 dollars. Not sure if I could afford to return for a family dinner, which I would assume would end up in the hundred dollar range.

Yesterday I was working late and had a craving for sushi. I was in Brookfield and had no idea what sushi places were near. A quick internet search led to Sushi House in LaGrange, a mere five minute drive. I decided to try some rolls I never had before. I tried the spicy salmon and the diablo roll. Both were delicious. The spicy salmon was seriously spicy, but it was really good. The Diablo roll is my new favorite. Tempura shrimp, lettuce, and eel with a spicy sauce. It was amazing! I wish I got two of those. It was so good I already went back for lunch today. I had the sushi lunch. The california roll was yummy and the fish selections were very fresh and each had a little dab of wasabi which I actually liked. All in all, this is my new favorite sushi place and I really wanna try eating there for dinner.

The place has been upgraded since my last visit. The decor has been subtly improved and the menu has some added pizzaz. Food presentation has been upgraded also. The Chicago Fire roll arrives to the table literally flaming, and some other rolls have colored LED lights to increase the drama of the presentation. We had the Black Spider roll which is a black rice roll with tempura soft-shell crab inside, and eel (Unagi) on top. Delicious. A new item is a urchin (Uni) shooter - chunks of urchin in a small glass with a shot of soy-vinegar. It's a briny-vinegary treat. The star of the evening though, was the fatty salmon. I have never eaten a piece of fish like this. So decadent, creamy and subtle, almost like eating a fine pate de foie gras. Wow. If you ever get a chance to try this part of the salmon, go for it!

So, this is not an angry rant but more of a suggestion: today while shopping in downtown LaGrange, we decided to have lunch here. While yes I know it is a Sushi place, it was somewhat empty, being that I have 2 year old twins (one of which has a slight learning disability) we went in for lunch. My son does get a bit loud when he gets excited but today he was not too bad. He yells yay and claps but nothing too disruptive. I try to be considerate of my surroundings, since there were maybe 3 other tables and he wasn't being too loud we ordered. Our waitress brings out the soup and asks if we can keep our son quiet. I was shocked since this has never happened before and we have been to much nicer places where he has been in full on excited mode. We immediately leave to avoid any further embarrassment. So my only suggestion would be to please place a sign letting your customers know children with disabilities or any excited child for that matter is not welcome at your establishment. I am not upset or even offended as the young lady was very nice about it as was I. Had I known children who unfortunately cannot be controlled due to disabilities would be of issue, I would have saved you and myself the time and embarrassment. I have ordered food from here and it is overpriced ( Try Chiba in Darien $8.99 3 sushi roll lunch specials with soup and a delicious cucumber salad). Please save your rude comments as I am not being rude or dissing the place, just suggesing as a heads up to let potential patrons know of your "slightly loud kids not welcome, with or without disabilities" rule.

I love this place. I am a latecomer to the world of sushi, only really starting to like it in college so my knowledge could be lacking. That said, I have been to this place several times and have always had great service. My tea and water are constantly refilled and the waitresses stop by to ask how things are going. The sushi, sashimi, and maki rolls are all fantastic. I've never had anything else so I can't really speak to them. The fish is always fresh and the rolls well crafted. In addition to the standard fare, they have some really creative options. I was a big fan both of the La Grange and Mexican rolls and would recommend them to anyone. I even went there recently with a friend who doesn't really eat sushi and she was won over. The decor of the place is very low-key and they have a traditional sushi bar setup. The atmosphere is casual but nice and quiet for good conversation. I would definitely recommend this place.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some sushi - and this place knows how to do it. The sushi quality and freshness is unmatched - and I've been to alot of high-falutin' sushi bars. Of the many favorites that come to mind are the fresh salmon (it's like a rich pat of butter in your mouth. Well, that's kinda gross, who would eat a pat of butter? But you know what I mean.), the Green River Roll (unagi - delish!), and we always get the salmon roe with quail egg on top, and a few Uni shooters. Unnnnnhhhhhhh......(that's the sound effect of my eyes rolling back into my head with wanting.) We have never been disappointed, never ever. The service is great and the atmosphere is nice. It is pricey, however. But....addictions are expensive things to feed.....

I've been to the one in Westmont, but ordered for delivery here. The delivery was quick even though grub hub said 70 to 80 minutes. I ordered the Tempura Udon, kids bento, sashimi, some nigiri, and the chicken teriyaki bento. I had no complaints about the udon. They give a lot of seafood and a great variety of tempura and two shrimps. The sashimi was delicious, but the portions were so small... I only had two nigiri, the tomago and ika. The tomago was plentiful but the ika was so tiny. The other sashimi was good as well, it's just the portion sizes that don't make it seem all that worth it. Lastly the two bento boxes, they also seemed the same to me except that the kids had only sweet potato tempura. If you're not a tempura person, I suggest you just get the kids bento.

My go-to place to come for sushi. It's never loud or crowded, and the sushi is always a great quality. The fatty salmon is always melt-in-your-mouth delicious. They have a lot of really creative rolls in addition to the more traditional ones as well. When you order a la carte (is that the correct term for sushi?), there's always a good sized piece of fish and rice. Non-sushi menu items are also pretty decent. We always get the cold spinach or the seaweed salad, which is tasty, and vegetable tempura. Bento boxes are a great deal for a taste of everything! Overall, I love Sushi House, and I know I will be back!

Not terribly impressed. We ordered to go since we have a baby and didn't want to be 'those parents' with the screaming infant. We figured there'd be a bit of a wait so we ordered and took our bundle of joy for a walk for the prescribed amount of time. We even gave them a few minutes extra. We return to the restaurant to get our food, nope, not ready...but...but it's been 20 minutes, you told us 15. Ok, well, I guess we'll wait. Oh, but you only have 2 chairs, both of which are already taken (one nice guy did give me his seat) in your tiny waiting area. So then we got to be 'those parents' that take up the entire waiting area with our stroller. Of course, that could have been avoided had you been accurate in your time frame. I think we must have waited at least another 10-15 minutes. The sushi was fine but not worth the wait or the cost. Woow on La Grange is better.

Reviews above 2 stars here must be from relatives and/or investors. Portions are minuscule, expensive and just production...not even approaching a sushi ethic or vibe. Go to Sushi House in Westmont within the same corporation but vastly different....or go to Standard Market,get excellent take out sushi and get a bottle of Cho Chi Kubi saki and watch Netflix for a delightful fraction of the cost!

I love the various Sushi Houses around Chicagoland. This is the one closest to where I live, and we've eaten here about 3 or 4 times. Always had good service, usually able to sit right away, and, as always, the eating is delicious! I'm a big fan of their "Volcano Roll", something they do at the locations I've been to, but various other sushi restaurants have something they call a volcano roll which is something different. This one has salmon, whitefish, & crabstick rolled w/ mayo then baked, topped with a spicy mayo. Yum! all the other Maki I've had were great, and the various individual sushi pieces are always a treat. It may be a chain, technically, but it's a small chain and all but one are in the Chicago area. Give them a shot.

I don't remember the names of everything we got but I do remember that the veggies were fresh and the rice was nice and soft. Not dried out. The flavors went well together and each roll was distinct from the other. My husband ordered the terriyaki steak and enjoyed that as well. It was a good portion of meat and came with rice. My only issue is that the rolls are small. Much smaller than other places I have been. If you go, try to reserve the sunken table by the window. It looks like a very fun and intimate spot for a group.

After months of walking by saying "we should try this place", my family (+!) decided to check out Sushi House. We made a reservation for 7:30 and were immediately seated when we arrived. I ordered a Kirin Ichiban lager beer and we perused the large selection of dinners, sushi rolls, bento boxes, and appetizers. I decided on the Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box (Salmon Teriyaki, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and a California roll). My wife ordered the Vegetable Tempura, our son the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box, and his girlfriend ordered the Beef Negimaki (slices of beef artfully arranged "spoke-style" around green onions). As an appetizer we ordered the Gyoza (Japanese dumplings) and the Sashimi appetizer. We also took the advice of the waitress and ordered two sushi-style pieces of the salmon that was the daily special. We were served some of the best Miso soup I've had, and were then blown away by the beautiful presentation of the sashime appetizer. Everything, from the white fish to the tuna and shrimp, was incredibly fresh, firm, and delicious. The Gyoza dumplings were perfectly prepared and very tasty. The salmon sushi was creamy, delicious, and melted in your mouth. Main courses were another wonderful surprise. The Bento boxes were a treat for the eyes as well as the stomach (and the soul). The Negimaki was tender and delicious, and the tempura were lightly breaded and perfectly fried. The batter was delicious and took absolutely nothing away from the taste of the fresh vegetables. Everything was perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. The waitstaff was very attentive to our needs, and the result was a very enjoyable dining experience. My only regret is that we hadn't tried this place sooner! We will be back when looking for great sashimi, sushi, or tempura.

The excitement of Japanese food is in the artful presentation, delicate flavors and gracious service. This place offers NONE of that. I have tried Sushi House more than 6 times because of the convenient location, and it has only gotten lazier. Oh, prices are high and they act like they are doing YOU a favor, also. The only thing I can figure is that they are staying afloat on locals who are jonesing for sushi and don't want to drive far to get it. It's an insult to this thoughtful cuisine.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and seated promptly. The restaurant was not that busy when we arrived and there were two servers working that had this system going where they both waited on all tables. It was a bit confusing at first but once we learned it made no difference who we placed orders with, it was fine as both were very pleasant and accommodating. The jalapeno hamachi appetizer presentation was fantastic! Served on a platter with a glowing red glass of dry ice, bubbling and smoking like a volcano, the fish was served with slices of jalapeno on top and was very good. Other appetizers of gyoza dumplings (fried vegetable and sausage) and tempura combo were good as well. Bento Box "C" with the salmon and tempura shrimp and the vegetable fried rice entrees were very good, sweet heart roll was excellent but the mackerel sushi special and terryaki chicken were disappointing. The mackerel, while very tasty, seemed very skimpy on the portion size for the price (only two razor thin slices served over two tablespoon sized balls of rice) and the terryaki chicken was horribly overcooked and served floating in lots of excessively sweet terryaki sauce. Overall, our group scored Sushi House a 3.5, which would have been a solid 4 if not for the two dishes. We will be back for another try though.

A favorite lunch stop for me. although I have not had dinner here, the lunches at the bar are consistently excellent. The fish is high end fresh and prepared in the traditional manner but with a modern twist. The lunch chef is a plating master. This is our go-to sushi place. We never have to wait to get a table, and usually sidle up to the bar at the back. We can enjoy the clown fish and other aquatic friends as a sideshow while we stuff our tummies with their cousins. The food is really fresh, and there are nice options. We always bring our coupon from the last dining check ($5 off), as the selections add up to a pricey total rather quickly. Bento box (B) with the teriyaki chicken is a usual favorite. My husband and I can share what he has in his, and order a couple of extra rolls and we're good to go. We always have chicken leftover for a second day snack. Favorites: Volcano roll, spicy tuna, rainbow roll, godzilla roll, and dragon roll. They also have nice specials to break up the 'usual'. Unfortunately, the extra star missing is attributed to one downside that translates into two: I find the tap water that they serve is highly unpalatable. I won't say what I think it really smells and tastes like, but it is a strange, off-putting experience that not even the lemon floating in it can erase. Because of this, I either have to abstain from the water or order a $6 Voss water. Two, if we both want to quench our thirst. What we probably should do is just have a beer or glass of wine. I do wish they would investigate the water---could we be the only ones who notice this? If they fixed that, I might be inclined to have an extra roll to take home for that $12 and be a bit happier when I leave---although I am usually pretty pleased with the food. We're extremely lucky that it is so close by that we can go on a moment's notice.

Nope. My wife and I have given Sushi House a few chances, but have come up unsatisfied and significantly poorer each time. The kicker was today when we ordered take out. The woman on the phone wasn't very polite. In fact, she was irritable and hung up so fast that she didn't get my name (which caused a bit of confusion later). I could rant about how important it is to be polite to the customers who provide you business, but being rude on the phone in itself doesn't constitute a poor Yelp review. What does is the sushi cost/sushi quality discrepancy. It comes down to this: every time we've ordered Sushi House (maybe a half dozen times over the last 5-7 years), it's always been so-so. Not terrible, but certainly not worth the premium price they charge. This time, though, we didn't even finish our food. It just didn't taste good. Not rotten, or anything. Just not good. If you have the time and the means, head to Maki Sushi in Park Ridge. The cost is the same, but the rolls are hands-down more satisfying. Sorry, Sushi House. I really, really wanted you to come through, but you fell flat. Incidentally, we're now looking for a quality sushi restaurant in the La Grange/Hinsdale area. Any suggestions?

I'm seeing a lot of hate on this restaurant. Here's the deal folks. I think if you stick to one and only one thing here, you will love this place. That one thing: Nabeyaki Udon. They follow it in the traditional manner here- inside a hot pot (even including the pot's top). Benito broth, various sea food (crab meat, fish cakes, tempura shrimp), cracked egg that poaches in the broth, spinach, green onions, wakame (a deep green type of sea weed) and of course those thick cut noodles. Served alongside the tempura prawn are some various tempura'd vegetables. In my experience with Udon, this is the best I have ever had. That includes trying it at various places in LA, Seattle and around town here in Chicago. Things can get a bit pricey here, but if you stick with ordering the Nabeyaki Udon you can keep your costs down. They also have a few reasonably priced maki rolls that you can order a la cart. Being the bland American I am, I have always been a fan of the California roll, and think it compliments my big bowl of hot soup quite well.

The Sushi House is an intimate Venue in La Grange, IL. There is plenty of parking as there is street parking and a lot across the street (for those of you who are afraid there will never be a space in La Grange where there seems to be no recession - to quote my father "What Recession?!?!"). On another note, there is a lovely fish tank at the bar area for kids and adults alike. It seems as though Friday nights are deemed family sushi night leaving Saturday as the quieter night, so if you're not a fan of kids go for Saturday. I highly recommend the PINK SUSHI ROLL. It is a specialty and it's pretty special.

I've been called too easygoing with restaurants. This place takes the cake. First, when my party of 1 walked in, there was no other customer. It was a VERY cold day, so when they asked me what I'd like to drink, I asked them for Warm Water AND Green Tea. Right away, they started with the attitude... in their language of which I understood every single word. Then, I proceeded to order my Entree. I asked to Substitute a roll for a roll. Yet again, ATTITUDES. For the money you pay to receieve the food, you should also get some respect. All in All, if you don't understand the language, consider yourself lucky. We moved in the city now and not going over there as often as before but it was one of our staples for quite a while. The ambiance is nice even if the music gets a little bit annoying when you are a regular (it's basically the same CD they play over and over again. Don't know how THEY can deal with it!!). It's a very pleasant experience - and parking is never a problem!!

I am not a sushi eater. My husband is. This place is close to home and makes my husband SUPER happy (he's "in the biz" and can be particular). Everything is super fresh. Tasty non-sushi options. Great service. You cannot go wrong stopping in here if you are in the area, and if you live around here, just go already!

I will forgive the staff of the Sushi House for last night's experience, because we just happened to pick the worst night to go to LaGrange because there was so much going (benefit concert, what looked like a commercial shoot). We waited for over a half hour to be seated when there were three open tables that just needed to be cleared off. But it's okay... All was made up with their delicious food. I had the Dragon and Godzilla rolls, and both were delish. The Godzilla roll melted in mouth and had a great crunchy/creamy texture (yes, it was both). My boyfriend had the Spider and Spicy Tuna rolls. The Spicy Tuna was slightly bland, but I've had worse. We definitely plan on going back, but will probably get take out next time.

Ugggh. Such a waste. The service here is soooo bad. The waitress woundn't stop "playfully" hitting my sister-in-laws shoulder. Rediculous. I've been here 4 or so times and always left with a feeling of "wow, that is nowhere as good as the Westmont Sushi House." Apparently I'm a glutton for punishment as we went back but never again.

Ate here for lunch before doing some shopping a few days ago. Seated immediately, was only one other table and myself with my sleeping 1 yr old. Took awhile for the waitress to come back after seating me. Ordered the 2 roll lunch special. Tuna and King Kong. Was delicious. Only complaint... Which is a huge one... Apparently caught a bug. I have been very ill for the past 2, going on 3, days. Considering this was the only thing I ate Monday, I am assuming this is the source. I love sushi, and eat it quite frequently, and this was a very good place, but I will not be going again because this has been the worst illness I have had.

It IS pricey. That said, it is a quality establishment with none of the chinese/thai madness that seems to creep onto other sushi menus in the city. Their lunch bento boxes compare favorably with bentos ive had nationwide, and the daily special box sneaks some more interesting Japanese cuisine into the mix. The fish is decidedly top notch here, while items such as the teriyaki and tempura are solid and light. I haven't gone for the rolls, but I've found that decent rolls tend to cost a bunch anyway. Overall its a good experience, the staff is very professional and courteous. Since it ends up being a $11-15 lunch, it isn't a place I frequent on a regular basis.

The best service and sushi money can buy. I am a sushi snob and couldn't believe how great and fresh the sushi is here. Moreover, the non-sushi items are great, i.e. the streak teriyaki, tempura, etc. If you don't mind driving to La Grange OR in the neighborhood and want great sushi and a great atmosphere that isn't loud or a place to be seen...go to the Sushi House. I reallly think it is better than most sushi restaurants in the city.

I have been going here for years, I am always skeptical to try new sushi places hearing horror stories of food poisoning. So yay for never getting sick from the La Grange Sushi House. I have also tried the Naperville location and pretty much the same in quality only difference is Naperville location cuts their veggies a little thicker which i don't like. I have tried the appetizers, sushi, and hot dishes. And all have been satisfying. I actually recommend their chicken fried rice or any combination of the fried rice you prefer. Their steak terryaki is also a favorite of mine, I tried the chicken and something about the way they cooked it left me never wanting to order it again, the texture was like the chicken wasn't cooked all the way through, though that is not a problem with any of the other chicken dishes just the terryaki. I always get the bento box its the better deal if you want a little of everything. You can choose between Steak, Chicken or Salmon and you also get a miso soup, shrimp and veggie tempura, and a california roll. Great deal and lots of food if you ask me! If you do take out from here make sure you have everything you ordered including all the little extras like soy sauce and so on they always forget especially when they are super busy .

Wow. This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been into. Yes, it's not "trendy" like their rivals in the city, however, this place rocks! From the minute you walk in, the service is the best of any restaurant that I've been into. Staff is quite gracious, helpful, and attentive. Food is excellent, and is prepared quickly. I will be back here at least once a week!

Okay, I'm giving it four stars, but I would have to do 4 1/2 if there were half stars on here. The reason? It's really cold in this place...so cold, I got a headache eating there last week. Bring a sweater! My boyfriend and I love sushi, but we haven't been everywhere for it. We have been to about 10 or so places. Of the places, we've been, this is one of the best for sure. They have the freshest fish we've ever encountered at any sushi restaurant around. Particularly, the macarel and the yellowfin. Lastnight, we brought his family and they all agreed, it was some of the best they had ever had. One of us got a hot dish. Something with pork and peanuts and noodles. It was very good. We had 3 huge platters of everything you can think of. We ordered the Chicago Fire Roll, the Godzilla, some spicy tuna rolls and a couple others, I can't remember. We also got a plate of sashimi (yum!). It was so damn fresh. I imagine they have a difficult time selling dessert, because Tate's homemade ice cream is right around the corner. We left feeling satisfied and really good and full. Then we completely did ourselves in (to the point of sick) with the ice cream. Oh well, we don't see these people everyday, thank God.... I don't live in the city, so it's not a big deal to drive out to LaGrange. It is worth it if you are farther away. The atmosphere is really nice, not too crowded and you don't have to shout across the table to be heard. The service is also consistantly excellent. I think the bill came to around $260 with tip included for 6 people. (They did NOT add the tip into the bill, which is really cool.) We pigged out and ordered drinks too. Not too bad for a great time.

Good sushi for the money. Service was also very good. We had the Unagi, Spicy Tuna, Philadelphia roll and the La Grange roll. The spicy tuna wasn't very spicy and the La Grange was a little bland, but overall it was quite good.
