Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Did they ever replenish their flour tortilla supply? I gave up going here after being told three separate times they were out of flour tortillas. I haven't been back since early spring. I go just down the street to another amazing locally owned place.

Hands down best Mexican food in K3 area. Great portions, not expensive, and good variety. This place needs to be visited. Do not be thrown off by the tiny dining room.

Hands down they have the best Guacamole around! Super fresh, large portion for the price and the tacos pastor are unbelievable. When I order for pick up I always order extra ones for the next day. I could eat their tacos pastor for breakfast, lunch and dinner. So addicting! Oh and the prices are crazy cheap, great mexican food!

Best guacamole I've ever had!! The carne asada tacos are what dreams are made of, and I find myself always wanting more! Tiny little place but totally worth checking it out you won't want any other Mexican food again!!

Best guacamole anywhere. The tacos are great too. Excellent staff. Smaller eating area. I usually get guac and chips to go.

Overall very impressed with this little spot (room for no more than a dozen people to sit, and that would be cramped). Friendly service and delicious food. We tried a total of four different tacos, four different tamales, and a tostada. All were very good but the stand outs were the fish taco, green sauce pork tamale, and the al pastor tostada. In fact the tostada is likely the best one I have had anywhere. All that and very reasonably priced at around $1-$3 per item! If this place were close to home I would definitely be a regular.

Stopped here while passing thru the area based on other reviews. I ordered a steak taco with onions and cilantro and a small steak quesadilla. Both were great! The salsa verde they brought to the table was fantastic too. Just enough heat! The service was friendly and polite. I also brought 12 tamales home for the family - they were awesome! I hope to make it back here at some point!

Hands down best mexican food in Kankakee county. Very simple menu. Their guacamole is awesome. Food is keep and lots of it. Try the doritos nachoes. Space is limited inside. Food is alway fresh and hot.

In town once in a while, but i had this twice while i was here. Amazing hole in the wall restaurant. The prices are great, 2$ for tacos. And the guac is some of the best i have ever had. Make sure you get the large! Atmosphere is great, but kind of small. Probably like 10 seats for sitting. But service is great and people too. Solid place in a small town!

We live in downstate Illinois, but anytime we pass through Kankakee to visit family we stop to pick a couple packs of frozen tamales. They reheat really well and are great for a quick meal. I haven't tried the dessert tamales yet, but I've heard good things.

Best place in Kankakee county. Phenomenal food, excellent and friendly service, great prices. They keep busy so I'd recommend calling in your order ahead of time.
