When you see three words Route 66 diner you should expect a throwback diner atmosphere, great food and a friendly staff. Anything less and you should be disappointed. I was not. I tried a blue plate special. The hot beef plate was as solid as the Mother road. Large tossed salad. Real mashed potatoes smoother in Bowen gravy, a healthy portion of beef and a nice serving off green beans and peas. Breakfast or lunch 24/7. Breakfast looks good too. Stop in. Plenty of nostalgia on the walls to warrant ia name sake.

Stayed at Harrah's and was looking through yelp for nearby breakfast restaurants. Route 66 was within walking distance and was unexpectedly delicious. The wait staff was attentive and welcoming. The meal portions are pretty large with an inexpensive cost. We ordered the ham & cheese omelette, French toast, eggs and sausage with hash browns. All were awesome! Would recommend to anyone looking for a quick bite in the area. Don't let the exterior fool ya!

I was in town for something that i dont want to mention on yelp, because it is not important to the story. Man, you are noisy. And no, it was not a court apperance. Anyways stopped here about 130 and had an omlete with fruit. It was delcisious and a pretty good sized omlete. The service was very friendly and good. Next time i am in Joliet, would definitely stop in here for breakfast. Had everything you would expect from a dinn

Great place for breakfast or lunch, great selections in the menu and service is fast. In regards to the 3 refills of coffee, I've never had an issue with getting coffee while sitting eating or waiting for food. The coffee is fresh ground and not bulk, so if you want cheap unlimited refills go to Dennys.

I wouldn't normally give a place like this 3 stars. It is what it is though. I can't really compare them to places I normally go. This is an old school diner from the 50's. Nothing has changed since they opened. Have pretty low expectations is what I'm saying and you'll be pleased. We were "under the weather" after a crazy night at the casino and ended up in here for coffee and breakfast. It hit the spot and I'm pretty sure saved my life. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and coffee. It certainly wasn't the best breakfast I've ever had but it was far from the worst. The staff was really friendly. We were in a hurry and they got us in and out quickly. I will probably just stop here after all-nighters at the casino, but overall its A-OK.

Only been once so I'm basing my review on this one visit, but I really enjoyed myself! The place has the road side diner feel. but not cluttered or dirty. The wait staff were very friendly and engaging. Good sized menu, not too small not too large. I had a Monte Cristo sandwich with fries, a salad and soda. The sandwich was fantastic. One of the best Monte Cristos I've ever head. It was a very good size with fresh turkey and ham with fluffy French toast...all for under $11. This place is right around the corner from the Will County Court House and they give a small discount for jurors. If I'm in the area again I will definitely pop in. Of course I need to try something else to make sure my 5 stars are legit.

This was a nice diner. It reminded me of the 50's era. It was very spacious inside. I was a little put off with their sign 3 refills of coffee per customer. Food was plentiful and cheap. I would come back to this diner. Don't expect a 4th cup of coffee.

The Joliet Restaurant changed the name to the Route 66 Diner. I go there for breakfast every week. The staff is friendly and hard working, and the food is great and the price is right. When I or my friends have brought kids, they have been welcomed warmly and well fed. Hits the spot every time!

This place has an old school, family-owned vibe. My table enjoyed eggs, bacon, pancakes, biscuits and gravy. All were fantastic, just like I'd expect from a diner that's been perfecting these staples forever. Service was friendly and capable. Every seat, fixture, counter and table looks like it's been there for decades, but meticulously cleaned and maintained every day of its life.

Listen to your mother, don't skip breakfast. Lunch, however, is a miss here. This is a hot spot for Will County jury duty folks. They remember your face when you return a second day, which is sweet of them. First day, had the chicken salad and the cream of chicken soup. Chicken salad was just okay, in the sense that I had buyers remorse and would've rather had breakfast. The soup was standard, again just okay. Second day, breakfast! Biscuits and gravy with eggs. Joliet Restaurant can do breakfast - and believe it or not, my breakfast was only $6 (without tip). Another day, another diner, but it's good breakfast and an impressive price.

If you like old-fashioned diners you should try this place. Food was very good and the employees friendly and efficient. A great place if you enjoy re-living Route 66. There is also a Route 66 museum a block away. The place was very clean as well.

So This place tried to change its name to the Route 66 cafe or something like that, but will forever be the cursed with the name The Joliet Restaurant. I hadn't been here in years! I mean seriously the last time I ate here was like 1995. The decor has changed. I don't like it! It was much better before when they had the televisions, and the tables weren't so open. Now there is just this wide open space with a wall between the diner counter and the rest of the restaurant. But hey Im not there to eat the damn tables it's the breakfast that I remember that I loved. I ordered three eggs sunny side up, with pancakes, sausage patties, and grits. The pancakes were great just like I remembered them. I kind of like my pancakes on the heavier side. If I want lighter I will order crepes. The sausage patties were good also. The grits were a nice throwback cuz it's been some years since I had those. The worst part of my meal were the eggs. I ordered my eggs sunny side up, and my eggs looked like they were cracked and put on my plate. I thought to myself hmmm I will remain open minded and try them. Omg they were disgusting. I thought I was going to puke on the table. Now when I don't eat food something is wrong. Dead wrong because I will eat anything and always empty my plate. I felt the urge to puke an hour after I left this place. I might venture back here sometime between now and death, but I will not EVER eat eggs here. Until the next review!!!

Cool place...dig the pics inside. When I first walked in...the waitress by the cash register somewhat acknowledged me, but when I ask to place my order, she just pointed to the other waitress. (Maybe she was cashier only?) Anyway, I got served, heh, food was awesome and went into a food coma shortly afterwards. I was parked at the Harris bank for a gig so I don't know if the lot next door was their parking, but there is also street parking.

This is the spot for a good breakfast in Joliet. You can tell a lot about a place by how they cook your poached eggs... and they got it perfect the first time. Check this place out for a laid back breakfast with friends.

I was early for an appointment and I saw this place. I was the first in the door at 10 in the morning. I would have waited more than half and hour for my club but I opted for the hash browns instead of the fries as they didn't turn the fryer on until they were sure they were going to have customers. The slaw looked a little green on the second fork full so I stopped eating it. The sandwich was not to flavorful. The bread looked as though it had been nuked! No toaster? This place is a 50's throw back as nothing has been changed. Just new tape for whatever is broken. The prices are a rip-off as the rent in downtown Joliet can't be more than 50 cents a sqaure foot. If I am going to pay more than 10 dollars for lunch I want to be able to recognize what I am eating!

I have always liked this place because it has been a major staple of Joliet downtown eating for a long time. People from every walk of life are there enjoying their meals. You can find nice, hot breakfast or a quick and satisfying lunch. The servers are nice and attentive. I remember coming here with my parents and then with co-workers in the legal field. This is the meeting place for attorneys, judges and police officers. Good coffee and good conversation. Give it a try!

Had breakfast here this morning. Great eggs and potatoes. Friendly staff. Comfortable setting. Felt like a step back to a simpler time. Really enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for breakfast in Joliet.

Well, I was stuck in downtown Joliet for a meeting and was looking for breakfast at 7am since Harrah's had no choices. Decent eggs and omelets. This is clearly a meeting place in downtown Joliet for lawyers and workers. If I find myself here again, definitely a choice (since there are not too many others!)
