Loved the garlic butter hoagie with American cheese was the best I've had . Fries were good . Turtle Sunday , I thought at first was light on the Carmel and hot fudge but actually was just enough . Staff was very nice .

This place has become summer night destination in Joliet, but I've never been a huge fan. It's fine for what it is.... an ice cream parlor with junk food. The service isn't great and the tables and counters are always sticky. I suppose that's to be expected, to a certain degree.

The ice cream was good but the service was terrible. You can order either inside the restaurant or outside at the ice cream window. Stood outside for just under 10 minutes and was passed bye 4 times by the girls working there and twice by a man. Understand it can get busy, but one of the girls should have stopped taking customers that were arriving after I did and came over to take my order. Very poor customer service.

Moved across town and expected to miss Walt's terribly, and drive over there on the regular. Not so fast! We're so glad we discovered Sonny's. Great ice cream, fast service, and all those terrible for you but delicious snacks like breaded mushrooms My favorite is when their sign reads "fat and sugar free combos". Obviously missing a few words there, but hilarious.

We've been coming here for years. Today was the worst & I doubt we'll be back. No one in here but us. The chick at the counter was rude. Told me I had to order a hotdog with everything on it~ no I don't. Then when I got her to put what I wanted on MY hotdog she told me it couldn't be a basket. I just walked away. If my kids weren't with & excited to eat here we would have walked out! I told her to forget my hotdog but she still rang it up?!? This place has gone to shit over the years. No wonder why there's a for sale sign out front!

This place is jumpin' in the Summertime! They also offer fat free frozen yogurt & fruit/yogurt cups for those trying to behave. Then there's people like me that get a small loaded turtle blended ice cream but immediately noticed that there's a gym to the left of them & a batting cage behind them~all great reminders to watch my portion control or hit their surrounding activities (I'm definitely taking advantage of the super inexpensive batting cage)! ; D The staff was very friendly & fast. I can't wait to try more! Great idea awesome boyfriend! XOXOXOXO!!!

Out of chocolate ice cream. Slow service. Small portions. Keep on trucking and don't wast your time or $

Went for ice cream & batting cages for the kids. The people here not only moved slow but had a nasty attitude. Tried the batting cages but they were constantly getting jammed or ran out of balls. Had to go in at least 3 times to have someone come out and fix them. Maybe the person suould have focused on moving quicker and doing his job properly as he was on smoking his cigarette. I won't be back.

Can't believe no ones reviewed here yet. Has been in the area since 1986 and was probably one of the very first businesses to be established along Essington rd. While it might be known for ice cream treats, they also have a large menu of other typical fast food sandwiches. I ended up with the poorboy sandwich basket combo ($7.29 with fries) since I heard that's what they're known for and overall, a Joliet specialty. While waiting, I treated myself with a small turtle sundae ($3.49). It was very good and for its size, it really didn't seem small at all. Fries were really good. Taste, size, and generous amount of salt were spot on with McDonalds. For the sandwich, it was just ok. After the first bite, the garlic butter gave me that feeling in my stomach that I should of went for a healthier alternative since its such a greasy sandwich. Overall, its no Merichka's poorboy, but in general, I don't think anyone expects anything spectacular from a non-dessert item at an ice cream place. At least they accept credit cards and service was great. Seemed like a family ran business, which is great in my book.

In my opinion, there is nothing different about this hot dog joint in Joliet (of which there are many) except for the fact that it offers ice cream. It's quaint and dingy, nothing at all spectacular about the food. There are daily specials, but most places have those. I was a bit thrown off by the fact that I seemed about twice as old as ANYONE in the place, including both cashiers, two cooks, and two booths full of patrons. Being 29, that was a tad depressing. Since the food wasn't impressive, I'm giving them an extra star for not messing up my order, which, given their age and demeanor, I definitely expected them to. Also, extra star for having a batting cage out back. Not open for anyone to utilize in December, but that's neither here nor there.

Milkshakes are the best here.
(4)Jen B.
Great family place for dinner on the go or ice cream sundaes on a warm afternoon. We like to order take out and bring it back home. They even have a fat free yogurt option. The rest is purely good ole' burgers, fries, ice cream and shakes. If you haven't tried it, you are missing out!
(4)Kayleigh L.
I used to go here all the time when I was a kid & get the ice cream with the candy eyeballs! Its still great even as an adult!
(5)Kevin R.
Joliet classic that can't be beat. Best place for soft serve in the area!
(5)Nicole F.
This place has the worst customer service ever. They are abunch of kids working with no adult supervision and obviously no training on how to treat customers. This place might be a long standing business in the community, but I will never go there again.
(1)Sean R.
I have been coming here for years the shakes are great so is the food I usually get the banana shake the poor boy I recommend this place
(5)Shekky G.
great food- always hot. love the poor boy basket and turtle sundae. good service too. been coming here for 30 years- J-Town classic.
(5)Adri R.
I've been coming here since I was old enough to have an ice cream cone. Delicious food and even better ice cream. I was surprised at how great the food is when I first had it. Their burgers and fries are very good. Hot fudge sundae and dipped Cones!
