service was great; the food was pretty good. Their drinks were nice & comforting. We went one day before the boyfriend's birthday & they still gave him his birthday ice cream. I thought that was rather sweet

The following is the same message i sent to the Outback Steakhouse concerns email. To whom it may concern... Me and my family stopped by your Joliet location after a day at the nearby movie theater and the experience we had was so disappointing...enough for me to come home and send this message. First off we ordered an appetizer and our server never came back to check on us and we needed more chips. We had to flag another waitress down to get the chips after almost 15 mins went by...I bragged to my Fiance about your burgers so we both ordered burgers that both came out way too raw and mine was actually cold in the middle and super bloody....they took both of our burgers back and mine was slapped back on the grill even after i took a few bites witch i think was odd that a place would take an already eaten burger and put back on the grill instead of making a fresh one....and my wife's was brought back remade but was a totally different size patty..Thin like the burgers on the kid's meal.. We were brought our bill and i mentioned that the burger was not the same juicy thick patty and the manager then proceeded to argue with us and even sent the cook out to make us feel like we were wrong. The manager "Matt" was very rude and not courteous at all..Instead was very short with us and didnt try to make us feel better. After all the problems we waited for nearly 20 mins and all that was done was $4 comp off a $50 bill. And our waiter didnt even have the balls to bring us our bill instead sent another waitress to give it to us. We left feeling confused and angry about the whole situation. I have been a returning customer for years but after this experience I may never step foot in at least that location or any to be honest. Ruben Del Angel

Went on an early Sunday afternoon. Not crowded at that time. Got the house burger with onion blossom pieces on it. Grey through and through, although we ordered med. rare. Huge bun helped make it look worth the $10.00 for a burger. The sweet potato side was the best I ever had. Not sure where they got those or how they were prepared. All in all, just....meh. Had to use up a gift card, but won't go back.

I have given this Outback several chances to redeem itself but, they seem intent on disappointment. To start off I will say that the service is not the problem. The servers have been fine is the food that disappoints. I had the 10 oz ribeye and ordered it medium. When my order arrived I questioned if it was even a ribeye because it was cut so thin. Mine was not done medium, it was well and dry. Another at our table had the same issue. The table next to us also had the same problem. The flavor was also nonexistent on my steak. Both steaks at our table that were over done were replaced with properly cooked meats but you know how that works. Everyone else is about done with their meal while we get to start again with ours. The replacement steaks did taste better but still a very weak cut. Easy to overcook. My daughter's veggies were undercooked and tasteless. I'm sorry but there are no more chances left for this Outback.

Sunday night 7 p.m. modest crowd, and after eating there I know why. Ouback 's a franchise chain. THIS is one location that I won't stop in again. Steak salad was disappointing. The steak was not freshly cooked, and even though it was ordered medium rare it was tough. The signature sirloin was ok, bur really just a piece of seared meat, nothing to brag about. Coconut shrimp were overly breaded, and missing all but a hint of coconut. Service is unique to each server but still the manager sets the expectation. Can't say for sure because we never saw the manager on the floor, but the expectations are set low. Bread was brought once, and no offer to bring more. No refills ever offered on water either until the check was brought, and I had to ask a 2nd time for the special discount offered. Can't recall being asked if everything was ok. So, all in all it was meal, not a dining experience, no need to give this location a second stop until other Yelper's write about some improvements. Not saying stay away, but don't expect to see that fun lovin' staff from the TV here. BTW, I do share my reviews with management and corporate offices. I WANT them to improve.

I recently ordered take out from this place and while I was eating my food I found a chunk of glass about a half inch in size. I couldn't believe something like this was in my food. Thank goodness I saw it and didn't take a bit. When we went back to talk to the manager all he did was first try to offer us a 20 gift card. That didn't even cover the cost of our meal. Then he decided to give us a 40 gift card but why would I ever want to eat here again! For your own safety eat somewhere else.

We frequent this restaurant, although the meals are pretty darn good. The shrimp is absolutely delicious and I found out it was the sauce they made. Now they stopped making it (cost I was told) and now they have a green runny sauce that looks like just what is sounds like. Also, the creamy onion soup, no more! What is going on Outback people! I will not be going back. The steaks are delicious and the Alice Springs Chicken is great, but when you start taking things off the menu due to cost, then I wonder what you will be cutting back next.

Not bad. Not great. Drinks: The draft Sam Adams was good. My wife ordered a martini, and it was pretty good. The salads: good. The service - very good. So, why three stars? The food. My steak was fine, but my wife's looked like it was cut from the gristle sirloin. She had a heck of a time cutting it with the excellent steak knives. And my garlic mashed potatos were served slightly on the cold side. I don't even know how that can happen, but it did.

It is what it is- They (almost) always serve a very good steak, its available usually without a wait for a table. When they do make a mistake they always apologize and make it good with a gift certificate or a replacement. They are right down the street and very convenient for take away. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars for service, 3 1/2 for the food- and for a chain that's pretty damn good; but they do screw up an order occasionally or overcook a steak, so a solid 3 it is.

Delicious! We are really loving the new bar menu with $4 drinks and appetizers. I was too lazy to cook last night, but I didn't want to blow a lot of money on dinner either. The snag? I really wanted steak, which never happens, but the steak at our friend's wedding last week at Bobak's was so good. The answer? Outback! We had a coupon for a free appetizer from the Yelp Outback event, and we had a $15 gift card. We started in on the $4 drink menu. I had the crisp red apple martini which was like fall in a glass. It's a wonderful alternative to all of the pumpkin drinks that are everywhere. It isn't sour like an apple martini, which is something I really dislike. My martini was like biting into a crisp, boozy apple without the awful Jolly Rancher after-taste. Our drinks took awhile. At first I made a "WTF" face at my husband when I saw four servers standing around the bar, all seemingly doing nothing. This was around 6:00 p.m. on a Tuesday with maybe 6-8 tables full in the restaurant and one patron at the bar. I was later relieved to see our drinks being made, and I could see that the bartender was carefully looking at the drink list. Looks like they are still working out the kinks since these were just put on the menu two weeks ago. Our server was very apologetic about the wait. So we started with the brisket nachos which were delicious! We both really liked these, but without the coupon I don't know if I'd be willing to spend $7 on a plate of chips and a somewhat small portion of brisket. That's kind of how our whole meal went - very delicious, but would we pay full price for it all? Keep reading to find out! We each had the Outback sirloin, me the 6 oz. and him the 8 oz. Both steaks were quite large, and the horseradish crumb topping ($1 upcharge) is a must! The steak really wouldn't have been as flavorful without it. The steaks were served with either soup or salad, and one side. I had the potato soup which was very creamy with potato chunks and cheese. He went with the blue cheese topping on his steak (another $1 upcharge) and a fancier salad that had yet another upcharge. Both steaks were cooked medium / medium rare as we requested. Mine was a bit chewy and difficult to cut through, but I am not a steak expert so maybe my jaw is just lazy and they need new knives? At the end of the night, our check was $45 before our coupon/gift card. Our meal was fantastic, our server was great, but I kind of think that next time I have a steak craving I'd just bite the bullet and go to Wildfire and spend slightly more. While we were eating, we overheard the table behind us complaining to the server. The customer wasn't communicating the problem well, and the server wasn't exactly super professional in the way he talked to the customer. You could tell he was getting frustrated and needed a manager to intervene. It really just made part of our meal a little awkward. There's no reason to knock Outback. It's a nice chain restaurant, and a good place to get a steak especially if you're out with the family and footing the bill for multiple people. And for $4 drinks and appetizers I'll definitely be back for at least one more.

I read the reviews ,which were mostly bad, but took a chance cuz we were hungry! We did the call ahead seating and actually waited at the bar for about 15 mins..which is great because when we walked in she said 30-40 min wait time till I told her we had called ahead :) so we ordered our food the same time whe ordered our drinks(much faster if you do that so be ready to order next time) the food was there in about 15 mins and it was delicious! Steak and lobster and baked potato with a wallaby darned on the side? Priceless! I would've given 5 stars but this restaurant is so much smaller than others...We travel with the oil boom and go to every outback we see and this one is the smallest I've ever been to....great food and great service tho!

Not one to review, but this review is based on my takeout experiences on multiple occasions... 1-Each time they forgot to include a side, and had to return to pick it up, which then my dinner was cold. 2- When they say "petite" sirloin they should say minuscule. 3- The other steak I ordered the ribeye was sized right but not cooked to liking. (I like medium for the juices, and each time was over cooked) 4. I signed up for their "dine rewards" and didn't get credited for my 60$ trip. I get that I'm not going to a top chop house, but to spend 60$ on take out and still be disappointed on multiple times shows their some lack of consistency... Honestly I wouldn't put this place above a lower tier competitor in terms of service and quality... Maybe the dine in experience is better, but after my experience(s) I'd rather take my appetite to the steakhouse that's across the street.

Fabulous value for lunch! We enjoyed the creamy onion soup based on recommendation from our server (wish I had the receipt to tell you her name as she was excellent! She had blue nail polish if that helps Mgmt to ID her as she should be recognized!!!)

I have been a customer of restaurants since I moved back to Illinois in 1998. You've just lost a loyal customer as you yesterday. We were out celebrating my daughter 20th birthday and she wanted to go to Outback (Joliet, IL). I called ahead to this location for seating for 13 (1 booster and 2 high chairs). I was put on hold so the hostess could speak with the manager. When the hostess cam e back to the line she stated that the manager said it was ok. We arrived at 1:30 and there was 11 out of the 13 people there. The restaurant was completely empty at this time we arrived and was seated was seated right away. My daughter wanted to wait for her stepfather and uncle to arrive. The server (name unknown due to no introduction) came over to get our think orders but had a rude answer to every question. 1. We were given the lunch menus and when one our guest asked for a dinner menu the server rolled his eyes and had an attitude. 2. He brought 4 dinner menus for 10 adults. So, we all were passing the dinner menus around. 3. Then a member of our party received a call stating that there we going to be 2 additional guest and he stated that we could not add another table. 4. I asked for a booster seat 3 times and was ignored. 5. Any question that was asked he either rolled his eyes or gave us a "ugh" sound. 6. There was a spill due to an infant and we asked for napkins but did not get them until 20 minutes later. So the other guest finally arrived and they saw how upset we were and asked us what happened and we explained. One of our guest asked the server if we could get another server due to the fact that we were upset with his service. The server stated "Whatever! Yeah! If you all move to another table and out of my section." I was ready to leave, but my daughter wanted to have a steak for her birthday. I have never had anything remotely spoken to ever. The manager comes over and apologized but without remorse or sympathy. We did get a new server (Melissa) she was great. We were there 2 1/2 hours. Some of us still left hungry because everyone was disappointed and just ready to leave. The birthday girl left without a song or dessert. After this experience we will not be returning.

The waitress was NOT knowledgable about the menu (or the type of steaks to recommend), the manager was definitely NOT gluten free prepared. Dirty fork!! Raw ("steamed") broccoli. Save your money, go to Chucky Cheese instead.

One of our favorite restaurants! Always in the rotation! we generally sit at the bar and the bartenders are always very friendly! they seem to be overworked at times, but are able to maintain conversations and also keep up with all of the orders coming in! Very good food!

Here I sit waiting on a soda refill at about the 10 minute mark. Appetizer here and gone. Salad ditto. Steak seems to he Mia Our server can be seen occasionally wandering back and forth between the men's room... To be continued. They just earned another star. He brought sodas when he delivered the steak and the steak was perfect. As I think this through it is the end of the shift and I think he may have been pacing because the kitchen was dragging ass. So overall a decent experience. I've had better and worse so middle of the road for you Outback of Joliet.

This Outback is hit or miss. Last time we went, our server, Cally, was ridiculous, she messed up nearly everything, took over 32 minutes (and counting) to fill a drink, and refused to take our coupon. The latter would not have been a big deal, but we heard her take it off for the people behind us. When my grandmother ordered the blue cheese wedge salad with extra dressing, she gave a cup of balsamic, and blue cheese crumbles. We asked for the dressing, and she claimed there was none on the salad.... okay then what is that white stuff? For the remainder of our meal, she was rude and short with us. I'm unsure if I will return if she works there.

If I had reviewed this place several years ago, after they first started appearing in the Chicago-land area, I would have probably given it 5 stars, but after my last two visits, I felt I had to write this review. Its really sad to see places that were once great go downhill. Is it the economy? Probably. The problem is that once you get a bad reputation, its hard to come back. I ordered the steak and lobster tail, my wife had the steak and shrimp. The steak, though cooked perfectly, was so tough, it was actually a chore to cut it. The lobster, though small, was the only bright spot of my visit. This is the only steak house restaurant that I know of, where a soup and/or salad is not included with your meal. Granted the salad is only $2.99, and it is fresh and fairly large, but if you don't order a salad, you won't be getting anything except a baked potato. I ordered the french onion soup and it was okay, nothing special. The service was very good, the waitress was attentive and friendly, but I probably won't be going back. When I dine out, I expect something more than mediocre food. I can make better food than this place at home.

I went here on 8/25 in the evening for my birthday. The service was awesome, to bad those same wonderful servers aren't cooking! Because the first round of steaks were under cooked, then they became over cooked. I sent my steak back, my husband didn't care at that point and just ate his because he was starving. I just wanted to leave, fast very very fast. It was the worst birthday dinner I've had in a very long time since my 30th birthday when my name was spelled BRAIN on the cake icing. The potato soup was pretty good, lord knows I ended up eating enough of it because of the steaks going back and forth all the time to the kitchen. But I wouldn't go back here to spend money after this incident.

This place is not good for steak and they should consider changing the tittle. The only good thing we had there was the awesome blossom. Everything there taste fake or not fresh. Kinda like going to taco bell but more expensive.

We did carryout last night. AWFUL. they gave us FIRST the wrong soup. Second then they over charged us. THe manager came out and didn't really apologize or care. We had to remind her about hte over charge. Then I get home to check my soup and literally there is ONE SCOOP in the bowl I paid $4. I hate this entire company -the food is really never that great.

Kangaroos will roam the 'burbs before we'lll head back to this Outback. Third strike and they're out. On our latest and final visit, we landed about 45 minutes before closing time. The place is virtually empty; two other tables and some folks at the bar. I ordered a horseradish crusted filet w/garlic mashed; the DH got a BBQ combo plate Aaaaaaaannnd - we waited. And waited. Small cup of overpriced soup arrives. And, more waiting for our entrees, which as it turned out, were slow getting to us because they were probably cowering in the kitchen, ashamed to show themselves in public. $20+ for a petite filet that was mostly gristle. Sadly, a Saws-all didn't arrive as a emergency backup cutting tool. As an extra bonus, the horseradish "crust" wasn't crusty at all - it was tasteless and the consistency of toddler snot. After a word to the waitress, the owner/manager arrives with excuses and lots of attitude. Obviously, I wasn't playing the eat 3/4 of it and send it back game: it's there, looking nasty and most non-filet-like. After semi-arguing with me about the high quality of their food for 15 years (the place hasn't been there that long) he offers to cough up a new steak. I accept the offer, but wonder if it's going to take the same 20-25 minutes to show up. Plus, since it's now closing time, I'm fearful about what body parts and fluids will be dredged across my replacement meat back in the clueless kitchen. Owner/manager pops back out in 5 minutes and says the kitchen is closed. Filet comes off the bill, along with an additional $5.00. Oh boy. Now I have $5 so I can hit the Burger King and get something semi-beeflike. The very nice waitress and some tasty complimentary bread and butter are the only things keeping this out of one star land.

I suppose you get what you paid for. At $18-22 (can't remember exactly) for a ribeye, I should not expect too much. after sending the first medium rare steak back because it was still mooing, the second one came back well cooked. However, the taste was non-existent and way too much fat for a restaurant-cooked steak. At least the side orders/ appetizers are tasty. The Tuna appetizer was actually excellent, the french onion soup was very good, and both the garlic mashed and baked potatos were good. Also, the kids meals were a good value. Too bad the steaks are their signature item. You'd be better off saving the money and going half as often to a good steakhouse.

We just went to this steakhouse for a birthday party , the only reason I gave it two stars is they were friendly, and our waitress was pretty good, The food was not good at all, we got two blooming onions they were dripping with grease and burned, both of them, well I guess everything we ordered was burned except for the soup, I got the shrimp and steak. the shrimp was tasteless except for the strong spices, which were so strong you could not even taste the shrimp, the little piece of meat was so tough you could not hardly cut it, it also was pretty tasteless, My daughter had the chicken and it too was burned and tasteless, lets just put it this way no one liked the food and there were 9 of us, $ 180.00 for bad food is terrible, I won't go back to this place.

Absolutely horrible.... From the food, to the service to the management. My boyfriend, daughter and I came here for dinner. Figured we'd try the sirloin with endless shrimp since the red lobster in our area is pretty gross (they have endless shrimp going on right now) We both ordered the 5oz sirloin with the garlic shrimp. He had mashed potatoes as a side and I got the rice as I knew my daughter would like it. My boyfriend ordered his steak medium and I ordered mine well done. I ordered my daughter the chicken fingers and broccoli. When we got our steaks, and cut into them, my boyfriends was rare. Like bloody. He sent it back. The manager returned with it, was rude and rolled her eyes and asked him if it was fine. Still red with Red juices oozing. He told her and she said well do you not want any red because we can do well done for you. To avoid more conflict and bad service he kept it. When I cut into my steak, it was still pink. I order my steak well done at joints like this because well, they aren't fine dining restaurants with good quality cuts. I err on the side of safety. If I was eating at wildfire or a place like that I'd order medium rare. Our shrimp tasted so fishy and we're not piping hot at all. My rice was bland and dry, and my daughters broccoli was cold. Now I don't look for perfection at places like this because I know I won't get it, but I mean cmon. We paid 68.89 for our meals and drinks, and not once did we get an apology or offered a discount. To top it off, our waitress underlined the part on the receipt where it said tip not included, and than starred next to the gratuity amounts.... Why she did this I have no idea... Maybe it's because we are in our mid to late twenties and looked like we didn't know how to calculate a tip... Whatever the case may have been, it left a bad taste in our mouths.... If we didn't have the money to tip properly we definitely wouldn't be out to eat... We aren't stupid.... Just awful.... I will never come back here again.

We went here on a Saturday evening for dinner. The parking lot was just over half full, so we were able to park near the door. When we went inside, there were about 4 people waiting. Looking around, we saw several empty tables and booths and a couple waitresses walking around and one standing near the hostess, so we thought we would be seated quickly. When we went to the hostess to give our name, before we had a chance to say anything, she said it'd be at least a 25 minute wait to be seated. "Really? I asked looking around to which she replied "Yes." I guess the manager likes only having a partially full restaurant. We turned around and left. I've been to other restaurants that were packed and have been seated in under 10 minutes. There is no reason for a restaurant with several empty tables to make people wait 25 minutes unless they don't want business.

The family (7 of us) stopped in for lunch. I put the kids on a budget so it was $6.99 combo meals with water all around. I was feeling gracious so we split a blooming onion as well. We love a blooming onion and this one didn't disappoint. It arrived hot and unusually fast. The bread rolls were warm as well. This waitress was on the ball! Food served fast and hot! And she was super friendly and didn't let on her potential fear of me being a tightwad and not tipping as much as I should. (I'm an over tipper by the way) The meal, however, wasn't our favorite. We ordered the chicken tacos and while the picture looked good, it was bland and unappealing. The chicken barely had any taste. Service was excellent but chicken tacos were not very tasty. We'll come back. But either try something different or stick to steak dinner with adults only.

Service was poor. Food was cold or warm not hot. Ribeye melt I ordered had as much fat as meat. The other order the burger was small and cool in temperature, fries were cold and soggy. Waitress only stop by table once and that was right after it was served never saw her again until we decide we were done. Never did ask why I didn't eat most of my sandwich.

This is the worst Outback I have ever been to. The first time I went was like 2 years ago to celebrate my husbands bday. That day I promised myself that I would never come back. Well we went back yesterday and we started getting flashbacks of why we didnt miss this place for 2 years. The service was horrible. The steak taco was freaking COLD like it was sitting in the kitchen for awhile and the steak was so dry I had a hard time chewing on it. The steak my husband ordered was supposed to be medium rare but came out as well done so we had to ask them to re do it. Came out better the second time but the waiting time again made our side dishes go cold. Super annoyed!! They took the taco off from our bill but charged $40 for a $19.99 steak my husband ordered. I dont know if they did that on purpose so we asked the waitress and even she couldnt understand the bill. What a mess!!! Horrible night out on Friday! Never ever will b recommending this place to anyone!

Chains that have been around for a long time can have a hard time keeping fresh and appealing while still maintaining the classics that people like, all while not looking like they're trying too hard. Outback is a successful example, and a recent experience at this location proved to be enjoyable. We gorged on the old favorite, the (gotta have it, completely unhealthy, hate yourself later) Bloomin' Onion, which they have down to a science. Then I had one of the cocktails for their summer theme of "moonshine and bbq", composed of bourbon and lemonade. I won't pretend I tasted much booze, but still yummy. Continuing the BBQ theme, everyone in the crowd went with one of the specials: steak and bbq glazed bacon-wrapped shrimp. You know how often on the commercial/menu the special looks so great but on the plate it ends up disappointing? Not so here! I can only wish they'd add this to their menu of standards, because I would order it every time. Patrons err on the loud side, but we were tucked into a corner booth so it drowned it out; carpet and acoustic tiles do help too! Our server, Chloe, was eager and hardworking. Overall, this is the sort of place that gives chain restaurants a btter reputation. Look past the cheesy "Fauxssie" decor and the goofy commercials and just enjoy Outback for what it is: good steaks at a good price.

The staff was competent and friendly enough, as was the environment and the drinks, but I absolutely cannot reconcile paying as much as I did for such tiny portions. Happy Meals are bigger than what they give you here.
