I took my Nanny and 2 year old daughter for dinner. The atmosphere was great and everyone had a smile on their face. Our server, Jessica, was a Rock Star. She was very friendly and attentive. Come to find out it was her first night. I would have never guessed, she served like she had been doing it her whole life. I have been to quite a few Lone Star's and have always liked the food. This was exceptional with great service along with the food. If you want to get your Cowboy on (or just have a decent steak), visit Lone Star and don't forget to ask for Jessica. You won't be disappointed!

I took the family to dinner at about 4pm on a Sunday night. If you are looking to get in and sit fast, that is the perfect time to go here. Our food came quickly. The food was cooked perfectly. It was seasoned perfectly and the 7oz filet mignon was cooked exactly medium rare like I ordered. I had grilled shrimp with with and they were also cooked to perfection. Who ever the cook was that night I would like to shake is hand. The staff was extremely nice. The restaurant was clean and looked well taken care of.

We eat here a lot. Its a good solid chain restaurant that has consistently good food. Its on par with Chilis and Applebees so if you are expecting a gourmet meal...you will be disappointed. But if you want a great burger...you will be happy. Their sirloin steaks are tough, but that is because sirloin is a tough piece of meat to begin with. You aren't going to find a tender sirloin anywhere. Their other steaks are juicy and tender and well seasoned. We love their buffalo wings too. I do miss the old Lone Star, with the peanuts on the floor, the blaring country music and the dancing staff in cowboy boots.

The service was ok. Until we were the last booth in the section. The servers and runners had no problem with cleaning, but that made us wait. The menu is changed, and not for the better. My friends burger was ok. I got country fried steak it was ok. The country fried steak at The Big Apple is better, cheaper, and you get more food. As everyone was busy cleaning, we had to sit and wait for our server to pick up the check since I was paying with my debt card. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Thought about and was ready to dine and dash because I should not wait. Oh, and trying to get the attention of another employee was not happening because they were cleaning. But, she finally came by. I have left overs. I think the dog might get them. That is how impressed I am with the food. I spent close to $37. Save your money and go to Aldi down the street and by food from there and cook a better dinner.

Food was excellent. Waitress was just ok did not listen well causing her to run back and forth. Cant figure out why they sat three tables right next to each other with entire place empty.would have preferred an empty table inbetween Good value for money

I've dined at this Joliet location several times. Great food and service every time. I prefer going here for lunch, as you might have a wait for dinner. I sat at the bar today, which was a first. I was happy to see the bar was well maintained clean glasses, full liquor bottles, no dusty bottles/shelves, no sticky looking floors, etc.... There are still nice, clean, places in Joliet. :)

My wife and I used to eat here almost every Monday for dinner because they honored our veterans with a 20% discount. It was great going from being spit on coming home from Nam to being appreciated. Well, they got a new management team who decided the hell with the vets. So, we haven't been back since. It's a shame because I think they had good food and it was comforting seeing the vets.

Oh, for the love of God! The first and last time my boyfriend brought me here for dinner was in the Fall of 2012 and we had an enjoyable experience. There was a family of 8-10 people dining near our booth. What I saw encouraged me to rant and rave about how this restaurant chain would best accommodate us for my birthday. When my sister asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday dinner in NOV, I thought this was the restaurant chain being built on the perimeter of Woodfield Mall. You'll have to read my review about the Long Horn if you want to know what the consequences were for making that embarrassing mistake and why no one in my family or I have been back to the one in Schaumburg. Fast forward to the other night when Jason and I finally made it back to this Lone Star in Joliet. Nothing about the country theme, good food for its value and excellent service has changed. I hope my sister and her family have the opportunity to have her own dining experience at this location.

Went here a few weeks ago. Been to other Lone Star locations and enjoyed them. So, I was looking forward to coming here. ...I won't look forward to coming here ever again. Ordered the sirloin (like I always do at Lone Star). It was the single toughest piece of meat that I have ever eaten. We're talking almost "sole of a shoe" tough. The service was good, but the food left A LOT to be desired. Like I said, been to other Lone Star locations before and the food was always good...but not here. I gave this 2 stars only because of the service. Otherwise this would be a 1 star rating. I'll be looking elsewhere for a decent steak.

Ten years ago you could get a steak here that was almost as good as fancy joints in downtown Chicago. Now it's honestly horrible. Nothing against this location specifically but as a whole this chain has taken a nose dive in quality. This place jumped the shark the moment the corporation outlawed the hourly song and dance break. My girls used to clap and whup it up. If you are the kind of person who puts lots of ketchup on their steak, this place's for you.

From a former employee: OK, the food is good WHEN it is prepared properly. Cooks that don't read or speak English can't read the order tickets properly. Horrible management styles that have been going on for years has made this chain a joke. Management comps at least 10-15 meals a week. "Please cut into your steak to see if it was cooked properly"?????? I was so embarrassed to have to ask people to do this. That is the companies policy that was when its cooked wrong they can make you a new steak right away and throw the old one out. They knew there was 75% chance it was cooked wrong. I was hired for full time and then only received about 15 hours a week. Then management would call me on a regular basis to covet shifts or come in early?? Once I realized they lied to me during the hiring process about hours I went and found a different job and gave a 7 days notice and sent 2 emails and gave up all my shifts to other servers. I never heard and still have not heard a word back from management. I can possibly suggest eating there but I highly suggest not working there.

What kind of steakhouse doesn't serve Prime Rib on a Saturday!?! I grew up going to Lone Star because my parents loved to go for mother's/father's day, birthdays, etc., and the best thing for my mom was always the prime rib. We haven't been able to go in so long, but I was finally able to take my mom to a nice birthday dinner and where else to go but our old favorite for her favorite meal! Until we got there and were informed that there was no prime rib being served, and even being told so in a tone like we were morons for even asking. Looks like our old favorite won't be our favorite going forward.

Was surprised that my meal wasn't up to normal quality. Texas rose wasn't cooked enough some batter still raw, steak had a lot of fat, and the loaded bake potato wasn't loaded. The salmon and shrimp my wife had was good. Also, had a coupon on my iPhone wouldn't accept because it wasn't printed out.

We went here for a Saturday evening dinner. The waitress was prompt and courteous. We placed our orders, mine for a medium steak, my friend for well done. The food arrived, hers was cooked well done, and so was mine. Mine was even crispy on top. I told the waitress it was over cooked and her reply was, "Do you want them to make it again?" Duh, yeah. Of course, by the time mine came out cooked correctly, my friend was done with her meal. the manager came over and gave us a free additional meal to take home of what my friend ordered. I think next time we will go across the street to Texas Roadhouse. It is nice to be able to eat your meals together when at a restaurant.

Haven't been to the Lone Star on Plainfield road since probably 2004 or so. This time I went there with a group. Overall the food was good. The butter rolls and sweet butter to start were very good. I ordered the chicken fried steak sandwich and fries as well as a side of fried okra. The sandwich itself was pretty good, but against my better judgement I put the gravy on it and screwed it all up. I usually don't trust gravy unless it's my own or somewhere I've been a few times and this gravy made the sandwich taste like crap. Without it, the sandwich was fine by itself. The fried okra side was very good. The service was pretty good. Our waitress was very attentive.

This was surprisingly good. We had tried to eat here once before, but hit a wall of people. Last night, we were looking for something new, and we settled on Lone Star. When we hit the door, we saw a lot of people waiting. The hostess took our name (no pagers) and said it would be around a 10 to 15 minute wait. I set my optimism for LOW and was surprised when they accurately hit that mark - I was seated within 15 minutes. Now that we had a booth, could the service keep up? Yep, we had a waitress at our table within a minute or so, and she took our drink orders and returned with them promptly. We skipped the appetizers (not that they weren't appetizing, but it's so hard when you're on a date night and have 2 people to finish one AND dinner - perhaps they need to order "half-attizers?" Anyway, this place with the name of Lone Star, is cowboy chic. You have long horns over head, a kind of country-campy decor, and the wait staff is in flannel and blue jeans. Let's talk about the wait staff - uniformly pleasant and smiling. Not "Stepford wives" smiles - honest smiles from people who enjoyed their work. I went with their bacon wrapped filet, and my wife had the sirloin and shrimp combo. Both steaks were served at the requested temperature, and more important to me, arrived nice and hot at the table. This was better than I can do at home with the barbeque - this was pretty much from the grill to the table. Yum! The baked potatoes were hot and cooked properly - I can't tell you how many times (you can look in my reviews and count if you want) that I have had under-cooked baked potatos in my life - these were cooked properly and had their skins salted. We had drinks with our meal - my wife had the Rawhide Rita Rocks Margarita, and I went for a beer. The margarita was good and nice and smooth, and my beer was served with a chilled glass, which was nice because my beer was still cold at the end of the meal. Other stuff: Full bar, limited on tap beers, lots of bottles. No WIFI

Looks like they didn't have enough money to finish building the ceiling :( * The booths make me feel a little claustrophobic!! And I had a mini panic attack from it!! :( * The food is SO filling one bite and I was full * The room was so busy from the pictures to the TVs to the designs on the booths!! Not a good experience. So, I normally go to Texas Roadhouse but were really crowded. I thought maybe lone star would be less busy and they were. I ordered a beer and it came with a cracked mug, I informed waitress and the manager came to the table with a draft beer instead of bottle, not a big deal but they didn't even comp the beer. So, I ordered ribeye with Cajun spices, ribeye tough with no spices. My wife ordered fried okra which didn't show til we were almost done. The waitress was slow and seemed like she didn't have a clue. She came to the table to take our order and ia replied ypu already did. We waited with our coats on for the waitress to take or tab when another waitress related I have seen you waiting for I while I can take your payment. Wish we would have had her, at least the service would have been better.

The steak was done perfectly. The first "texas rose" we got was not done properly. It was not cut enough and all that came off was the breading. It was a real mess. The manager was nice and took it off of the bill in addition to bringing us a new one. She explained they had a new employee and that the employee was now properly trained how to make the rose. The 2nd one was much better. Overall, I was pleased with the service and level of attentiveness from the staff.

I have never been to this place before, so Thursday night was a first for me, It was for a birthday party, they were pretty crowded, but had enough staff to handle the crowd, our Waitress was breaking a new girl in, so we expected a little delay that happens, well over an hour went by and we still had not gotten our food, I even made a joke to our waitress about did they have to butcher the cow first, to which she replied I think they're still trying to find it The manager walked by and saw that we did not have that happy camper look, and stopped to inquire if everything was OK, when I told her we decided to skip dinner and were waiting for breakfast menus, I was impressed by the way she took over our table, it seems our order somehow got lost and our food had not even been cooked I can't even begin to explain she gave us everything we wanted for free and was willing to give more, Now I know mistakes happen but I have never seen someone care this much that six customers were happy I will go back and I hope this lady still works there, The only reason I took a star away is because of the wait, you ever tried to keep a six year old birthday girl happy and quiet for an hour and a half?

A Western styled restaurant which has been nicely updated. The food is good and reasonable. Receive many e-mails of coupons, so it is a very food value for the money. The salads are ice cold and fresh. The steaks are good, not the best quality, but they are quite tasty. The salmon is good, chicken sandwiches are great. The steak fries are fresh and tasty. Good baked potatoes. Wonderful service and Managed well.

I gave this 2 stars only because of the service. Otherwise this would be a 1 star rating. I'll be looking elsewhere for a decent steak.
