Well it may fell like you're stepping back into 1966 when you enter... but that's not a bad thing IMO. Another great spot discovered from Chicago's Best TV for some old fashioned donuts like I remember as a kid. As their episode reveals, their signature item is the chocolate covered eclair filled with a great angel cream. The coffee was good and the jelly filled, topped with white icing, took me right back to the familiar spot I remember as a kid growing up in Cincinnati. Just had to go home with some pumpkin spice donuts, (one glazed, one iced) a buttermilk and a toasted coconut. Prices were great and I even spotted a great deal for mixed random dozen donuts for $4.14 on my way out, maybe next time! Enjoy some shots from the video or see it here... youtube.com/watch?v=iIkt…

Great donuts! I ordered one dozen of a mixed variety for my family and we ended up sharing everything so we could all try the different varieties. I really enjoyed the cherry coke flavor and the chocolate glazed. I had coffee too and that was also quite good. The atmosphere was old school breakfast place with employees who know their job and can perform it quickly and pleasantly. The customers that were there all seemed to be regulars and held the door for me (I can't guarantee that they will do that for everyone but they seem to attract a polite sort of person.) Overall, I totally recommend! Small business over huge chain and better donuts!
(5)Lacey N.
Super cute, open 24 hours, great coffee and award winning donuts!! What's not to love?
(5)Ricardo S.
Great Coffee Great staff! It would be nice if Wi-Fi was available.
(5)Nicholas B.
Best donuts. Open 24 hours a day 363 days a year. If you haven't been here, stop what you're doing, and go here now.
(5)J H.
I just wanted to put a shout out to Ale (pronounced Ah-Lee) who works behind the counter. Always smiling and happy to see us come in. It's so refreshing to see people in a good mood. We look forward to seeing her at the shop. Keep smiling Ale! :)
(5)Ruby S.
Best donuts and coffee anywhere, hands down. I grew up here, so this has spoiled me in regards to expectations of donuts and coffee. Next best thing is specialty bakeries, but that's not even the same category or price range! I know of people that move away and miss it terribly. If they visit, it's a must stop. And they can be seen on social media begging for someone to ship some to them!
(5)Tania G.
The absolute best fresh donuts! huge variety, the glazed donut is so soft and super tasty. I always get a dozen donuts. 6 glazed and mix the rest. I love the german chocolate donut! I love coconut and I love chocolate! The just plain chocolate one is so rich and delish! Home Cut Donuts has a huge glass window inside where you can actually see the donuts being made. I think that is very cool! It always smells so good in there. I highly recommend anyone to go there and get yourself a dozen donuts. (6 glazed because you'd be able to eat them in one sitting) hahaha
(5)Karen B.
Angel Cream Donuts. That's all you need to know. I've never had anything like them. They are soft and flaky, dusted with sugar, then filled with heavenly sweet cream. There are a few places to sit inside, but I recommend ordering a baker's dozen with a few coffees to go and spread the love with friends. Home Cut is one of the few food landmarks in Joliet, and definitely one of the best.
(5)David H.
This is like crack for Donut lovers. I stopped by last weekend and enjoyed their jelly filled an coconut covered donuts, and didn't share them with anyone. The coffee was piping hot and the place is a fun throwback with it's architecture to a simpler time. The smell coming out of the place is intoxicating. Yum!
(5)Daryl B.
Simple as: these are fabulous donuts. Period. It has to be said, one of the reasons I miss working at my old job in Joliet, is that I could always count on Homecut Donuts being brought in by somebody at some point during the week. There's just nowhere else that comes close for donut quality in this area, so if you like donuts and happen to be within easy driving distance of here...make it happen.
(5)Johnny T.
I'm somewhat embarrassed that I waited so long to come here. I was aware of many that say Donut Den was better, which might have deterred me from coming sooner. I ordered an assortment of eclairs and cream-filled donuts. You can easily sense the high quality, from the light texture and flavor that's not lackluster. I particularly liked the cherry cake donut, which isn't your traditional flavor type. Donuts were cheap at $.78 or .88 depending on what you get. Employees were very lively and polite when I was there.
(5)Lexy V.
Y'all doughnuts be flame n all but I think one of your employees robbed my friend of a dollar and the weirdest old men are seen in there every time I go there
(4)David S.
The doughnuts were good. They were not good for their handmade quality because these doughnuts are made with mixes, but their unique texture. Definitely not bad.
(3)Alixx C.
These donuts are awesome. Always fresh. They don't have a fancy decor but when you have donuts this good you don't need all the frills. Absolutely delicious. Love the jelly frosted.
(5)Grace K.
Possibly the best doughnuts I've ever had. Doesn't matter which doughnuts you get, you won't be disappointed. If you do just get 1 though, I definitely recommend the angel cream. I wish there was a location closer to the Chicago area, but it's probably for the best there isn't b/c I'd be going there just about everyday.
(5)Mitch C.
This place is so good. They are, without question, the best doughnuts store in the world and their prices are very reasonable. The french curler was amazing and the sprinkles on the other doughnuts were so good!
(5)Joan L.
Sheer heaven in a box. These are some of the best donuts that I've ever had. No small feat considering that I love to vacation in Canada, the international donut capital of the world. While I haven't tried everything yet, my favorites thus far are the taffy apple and cherry cake donuts. I'll get around to sampling the rest of them eventually :) Great place; if this isn't a Joliet icon, it should be.
(5)Sonia O.
Best ever! They have many varieties and taste really fresh. Dunkin donuts is child's play compared to these donuts. The sour cream ones are my fav! And they have the old diner feel which is a plus for those people that get nostalgic. Overall a great donut place !
(5)Robert M.
I've been to this 24 hour location several times during this past year (day and night, early and late) and I have to say the consistency of their donuts is fabulous. They literally have had me waking up in the scary hours of the morning craving for the delicate bite into heaven that they provide. I'm addicted to the glazed cherry cake donut. It's simply a perfect creation and I have yet to be disappointed time and time again. Thanks for a truly wonderful product Home Cut Donuts, I know I'll be back for years to come!
(5)Rod G.
I took my now 19 year old daughter here every Saturday morning for at least 3 years (until we moved out of town). I'll never feel anything but good toward this place for how well they treated her. Their donuts and coffee are righteous too!
(5)Michael S.
Amazing lil shop. Good donuts great coffee good conversation good company Went every Friday for my weekly treat when i lived in Joliet the satalite on Washington St was more personable the one guy there (George) was a stooges nut and he had a few soupy customers too lol
(5)Matthew K.
How far will I go for cherry cake donuts? If I'm driving down I-80 or I-55, I WILL stop for these donuts. I brought these to a camping weekend, 3 hours away, for breakfast the next morning and had everyone asking me where they get these donuts. While writing this review, my mouth is watering, and I'm tempted to drive down there from the north side to get the donuts. I can literally call them the best donuts I've ever had. By far.
(5)Melinda H.
You know how some husbands bring their wives flowers when they screw up or want to celebrate? Mine brings me donuts. From Home Cut. And a big iced coffee. Because he's awesome. These are my favorite donuts.
(5)Jillian H.
Sometimes something is soooo good that you can't stop thinking about it. The angel cream donut is my new obsession. It's light, soft and fluffy with a whipped cream type filling. I've tried a few of their other donuts the powdered cinnamon is good. The chocolate lacks a rich chocolate flavor. The angel cream is the best donut I've ever had. I think I could probably pound down 1/2 dozen without even thinking about it. I lack control so I'm glad I don't live to close to Home Cut Donuts.
(5)Jeff P.
Best doughnut shop around the joliet area. Doughnut den and dunkin does not compete, I been coming here since I was a kid and still will. The coffee is ok, kind of watery in my opinion but come for the doughnuts and you will be happy I support the ma and pop shops to the fullest.
(5)Brian C.
3.5 stars to be honest, just short of earning a 4th star. I don't know how much arriving there at 11:30a on a Sunday made a difference, but that said, here is my impression: I wasn't floored, but I certainly wasn't dissappointed. There were many reasons I liked Home Cut. -good selection, several creme-filled, short but good variety on the jelly -apple caramel with nuts was fantastic. Totally. -frosting deserves special mention because they are not sugar bombs -the jelly-filled are also easy on the sugar coating -the chocolate angel was like eating a donut filled with mousse Why not any higher? As good as the donuts were, I just wasn't wowed. -the crust of the plain cake was on the soft side- a little more crust like the blueberry cake donuts had would add some serious sumptuousness. -the inside of the cake itself was good- not I-can't-believe-it, (but good) -the yeast donuts were short of melt-in-the-mouth soft, (but still good.) -I was let down by the apple fritter. It could've used a bit more moistness. -the cocoa flavor on the double chocolate cake was very mild Coffee was a little better than average. They have seating inside, parking lot parking. Prices hovered a little above average. Overall, I wasn't wowed, but I wasn't disappointed, either.
(3)Laney V.
We stop here on our way back home in the morning. We try to eat the whole dozen before we hit the border but usually have a few left. Amazing.
(5)Doc M.
Best donuts around. They provide a huge window so you can see the bakers in action. Blows away D____n D____ts . But, then again, so does day-old grocery store cakes. Open 24 hours in a neighborhood that's turning worse. So, late at night, beware of who's hanging out in the parking lot.
(5)Erikam M.
Yummy yummy in my tummy. Love their donuts. Their donuts are always fresh and the place is filled with delicious aromas. They have a small seating area inside. It is definitely a good place to go to in the winter.
(5)Nancy H.
Donut lovers must try the angel cream! Here's how I'd describe it... take the jelly filled donut from Dunkin Donuts (wait for it...), but the donut is softer and fluffier with fewer air pockets, the sugar that it's rolled in is finer, and the jelly inside is not jelly - it is white, mousse-like buttercream perhaps or marshmallow fluff? It is like sinking your teeth into a sugary cloud!
(4)Darla W.
We were in the mood for donuts, which is rare, and I stumbled upon this on Yelp and decided to give it a chance according to the reviews. Glad we did so! We were overwhelmed at how delish they were and had to stop ourselves from eating the whole box for the sake of our waistlines! We will be back!
(4)Bobby S.
Best place ever. My cousin and I went here yesterday to get the kids some yummy sugary heaven. She remarked that she was been looking forward to getting the donuts here since she now lives in Texas. The staff is friendly. There is not much space inside but you are not in here more than 5 minutes and out the door heading home with the greatness that is Home Cut.
(5)Alison V.
I had the chance to stop in here Saturday night to try the donuts for the first time. I would have never stopped here if it wasn't for the great reviews, so thanks to my fellow Yelpers for turning me onto this place. It seems like they had about 30 different flavors when I was there. On the left side was predominantly the yeast and superfine sugar-dusted donuts and on the right was everything else. I went with the bavarian cream and apricot filled sugar donuts. Both were fluffy and had a wonderful texture. The apricot filling was delish (but it's only in the center, not a lot of filling). The bavarian cream was excellent too. My husband had a toasted coconut donut that I took a bite of, it was more of a dense cake dough, very flavorful. I cannot wait to try some more. I'll try to snap a few pics next time. The building looks very retro!

Home Cut Donuts, aka "The Cut" is a fixture in Joliet along with the likes of Joe's Hot Dogs, Merichka's poorboys, and Cemeno's Pizza. I must admit my review is a little biased as I've been a customer since about 1971, when I was a very little. Donuts are very good as they are supposed to be. They are not overglazed like some chain donut places. The cake tastes very good. There is some variation from soft to firm depending on the time of day and when the last batch came out. Donuts naturally lose moisture as a few hours tick on. I especially love the Angel creme eclair- a light delicious filling, and the double chocolate donuts. The place hasn't changed in the 40 years I've been going there except for the name (Mister Donut) in the 70's. Still owned and run by the same family. It's a great experience for kids and adults alike, looking through the glass wall into the kitchen to watch them make the dough, cut and prep, fry the donuts and finsh them. Also a great old tradition are the stools and counters, like old soda fountains but lower. Perfect for sitting and having your coffee and donuts and reading the paper or talking. Great Coffee. The regular customers can sometimes be characters too. No single thing earns 5 stars, but the combination does in my opinion. A classic joint.
(5)Fe S.
Great donuts! Love the variety., and the option to buy day old donuts. German chocolate was amazing and moist!! I bought a dozen for work and now theres only 3 left...
(4)Jake R.
My kids and I love this place
(5)Xavier D.
Open 24/7, this place has a magnificent selection of donuts. The best, in my opinion, are the angel cream donuts. On a normal weekday, I would not recommend coming between the hours of 9pm-12am because they are packing away the "day old donuts" to be sold at a ridiculous low price for the morning rush. So your selection for the night will be limited, but still delicious. However, if you come in after 12am, they will have fresh, hot, donuts available. The coffee is nothing to wow over, but it is decent. They also offer hot chocolate and a few canned soft drinks. Parking is plenty and it is rarely crowded at night. The morning, however, is a different story since retirees and 9-5ers are eager to get their sweet tooth satisfied.
(5)Paul G.
Saw this spot on a Chicago tv station so we live not to far away and made a trip there. The donuts are great and the selection is over the top we had a few fritters, there angel cream long johns, and a sour cream glazed, all great. There coffee though has to be some of the worst I ever had, stop and get good coffee before enjoying these wonderful donuts.
(4)Meg S.
Been going here for years, mostly in the fall for pumpkin donuts. BEST EVER. So moist and yummy. Defintely the best place for donuts around. If you live in the area, go now!
(5)Kyleigh P.
Best donuts ever. They're great AND amazingly cheap. I've never had a bad experience here, and it's one of my must-go places whenever I'm in town.
(5)Richard C.
These are TOP-OF-THE-LINE DONUTS from a family buisiness and in my personal estimation, the best Donuts within a 50 mile radius. If a city had a " Voted Best Donuts Contest", Like they have with Pizza Contests, these Awesome donuts would win hands down. Besides a large variety of hole dounuts, their specialty donuts, Angel Cream eclairs, frosted coffee, rolls, and "Sundaes" (comes complete with choclalate, mimicked whipped cream, and a cherry on top) are absolutely the best!!!
(5)Carl A.
Decent donuts, but perhaps a bit overrated. Been waiting to try them since seen on tv. Finally in area and stopped in on a Monday evening. Good quantity on hand but not a huge variety. Tried a Swiss chocolate which is a chocolate cake donut with glaze on it. That's my goto benchmark. It was ok, but I've had better. Crust was soft; I like it crisp. Then tried the highly touted angel creme. It's a cream filled stick with chocolate icing. Again, it was good but didn't super impress me. It wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciate, but filling was a little wet. Overall, they compare to like a good Dunkin or Amy Joy. (It's a crap shoot at either outstanding or lousy donuts at those places.) But I was expecting more of an artisanal taste sensation from a local non-chain joint. No wow factor. For that, a little disappointing. Nevertheless, a good basic donut.
(3)Matt K.
I love to eat donuts but this is by far and away the best donut spot on the planet. Their 'Angel Cream' donuts are what Jesus eats in heaven... Not really but if I was him I'd have them on Sunday's. They make everything from scratch here and it really is a mom and pop joint. Its fun just to sit at the counter eat and drink a cup of coffee and people watch / read the paper. Wish there was one of these in every major city. Worth the trip to Joliet. Order This: Angel Cream Donut Angel Cream Eclair Chocolate Iced Ring
(5)Angela F.
After noticing it on Yelp!, I sent Hubby on a Home Cut Donuts run early on a Saturday morning. He returned in no time with two boxes full of little pillows of ecstasy. The yeast-raised are absolutely the most tender donut I have ever eaten, and the superfine sugar they're dusted with (think one step away from being powdered sugar) is the crowning glory. Angel Cremes were excellent, as were the cake donuts and the eclairs. My son liked the coffee (cinnamon?) roll; I thought it was heavy and flavorless. I was a little disappointed with the cruller, as well. It too heavy and greasy for my liking, but I will try it again in hopes that the bad one I got was an anomaly. The bonus was that these donuts were SO fresh, that we were able enjoy the leftovers on Sunday morning without them tasting like day-old donuts. Very glad we found Home Cut Donuts, and that it's so close to home!!
(4)Vincent J.
Anytime I'm back in Joliet, I try to stop here and get some doughnuts. Still haven't found a doughnut shop like it in Chicago.
(5)Kayleigh L.
These doughnuts are the WORST thing every to happen to my diet.... that being said they are wonderful!!!!
(5)Alex M.
Best donuts in town. A must have!!! Joliet's finest!! Open 24 hours a day, tons of donuts to choose from. Good, quick service.
(5)Sandi P.
The best donuts to be had in the SW burbs! Scored the last 6 pumpkin donuts this morning - a fall family tradition. Home Cut has a great variety of flavors year round though. These are donuts that actually taste like more than the cardboard box they came in. My favorite are the coconut - both raised and cake varieties but everything I have tried (for research purposes) has been fresh, moist and flavorful. Head on over before the pumpkin donuts disappear!!
(5)Gregory G.
Ok...if I were one of Joliet's Finest, you would always find me here. I was driving home one night and saw this place, upon entering the fresh smell of donuts cooking made my mouth water. I purchased a dozen and ate the chocolate cake and almost slapped somebody, it brought back memories of my childhood when Daddy Walter would bring donuts home after work. Krispy and Dunkin look out you have just lost another customer, no more plastic taste for me.
(5)Robert P.
good place angle cream donut and coffee late nite
(5)Michelle M.
Completely Ridiculous!!! This place is amazing! I was out in Joliet last night for a show and stopped in about 11pm at night. I wouldn't dream of going to dunkin donuts at that time for donuts because I know they would not be fresh. These donuts were so fresh that they were even busy baking at that time of the night. Obviously the Angel Cream Eclairs were to die for. I also got coconut and jelly filled which were outstanding. Highly recommend if you are out that way!!!
(5)Babs H.
Let me give it to you straight. These are the best donuts in the world. Period.
(5)Jose G.
I had a couple friends who use to bring donuts up from here to Chicago, and I always really loved them. Among the best donuts I've ever had in Chicago, which, no offense to any Jolieters, means they HAVE to be among the best in Joliet. I miss them, and will be sure to drop in if I'm in Joliet ever.
(4)Christopher H.
Fresh at 3am on a Friday, incredible! This is a must stop for any donut lover!
(5)Heather C.
I have been going to Homecut Donuts for almost 30 years. I currently live out of state, but every time I go back home I can't resist. I have lived in numerous states and have not found anything that competes with Homecut. They have an amazing jelly donut with smooth jelly that is to die for and the Angel Cream, yum! I wish they had other locations. . .but glad that the quality there never falters.
(5)Sarah W.
The selection is tops! The donuts are perfect and fresh! I HAVE to stop every time I pass the place. I think my doctor is glad I don't pass the place to often. The coffee is what you'd expect.
(5)Thomas T.
Was in the area and the gf wanted a donut. Check on yelp and this place has 4.5 stars. Sets the bar pretty high. I only taste tested the donut and coffee that she bought but based off of her reactions, this place lives up to the hype, so 5 stars! Forgot which donut she got, but the bite I had was pretty good. I also liked their coffee, it was a different taste than dunkin or starbucks. The inside looks like an old school diner which is neat and they say day old donuts at a discount. Score!
(5)Debra D.
The coffee is better than Dunkin Donuts, and less expensive. On weekends the line can be out the door, but it moves very quickly. A fun, unique place, even though I'm not a fan of pink. (The whole place is pink!) It's been around forever, a cool place to go, sit at the counter, read the paper and enjoy your doughnut and coffee. Oh, yeah.. They're open 24 hours.
(5)Jessica M.
I've gone to this donut shop for years, ever since I was a little girl. They have excellent customer service that make you feel welcome. It's a great family place as well and they have the best donuts in town. I will continue to go here as long as they're open.
(5)Ryan M.
I have never ordered from here but my co-workers sometimes bring in morning donuts from Home Cut and they are fantastic.
(5)Jen M.
I was a hardcore DD fan til I had Home Cut. I used to live within eye sight of this little slice of heaven and when the wind blew in the right direction you could smell donuts (in the other direction, whiff of the river...brrrrp). I'm fairly certain they put crack in their coffee and this is the only place I can drink it black. Haven't had a bad donut yet!
(5)Anthony U.
I was amazed by the selection of donuts available late on a Sunday. Some 24 hour locations cut back on a Sunday evening but not here. With full donut racks I had lots of options available. While most everything I got was good I would have liked to see a fuller blueberry flavor in the blueberry cake donut and a richer (more eggs?) flavor on my Crullers. The employee was very nice and answered questions on what was in some unique flavors easily and was fast in ringing me up and getting me on my way. They also have a nice dive diner like seating area if you're just looking for a donut and coffee while on the run. My 1/2 dozen donuts were under $5 and I would surely return if I were in the area again.
(4)Jacqueline C.
Always a classic favorite! I used to live close by and would casually get the chocolate covered pecan cinnamon roll & the angel cream eclair. TO DIE FOR!! Always open 24 hours :)
(5)Dan C.
I love this place! I don't know what kind of sorcery they're using to make their donuts, but they are delicious! Everything I've had here has been really good, but the angel creme donuts are probably my favorite. Try this place out!
(5)Kelly K.
Made the trek to Joliet on a Saturday morning with a promise to my son of a fresh donut. We were not disappointed. The place was crowded when we got there, but the line moved quickly. I wish I had more time to decide but didn't want to hold up the people behind us. We settled on a toasted coconut (divine), chocolate long john (ok), vanilla long john (ok), and a donut on a stick (so cute, and tasty too). The prices are super affordable, and the staff was friendly. I plan on coming here again to try the honey and sugar donuts.
(4)Allan M.
Really great local donut place in Joliet. Loved the cherry cake donut(thanks for the recommendations on that donut, yelpers), the chocolate one was pretty good, and their apple fritter is pretty good. I'm still convinced nothing can top the apple fritter at Old Fashioned Donuts on Chicago's south side, but this was a great one. Can't deny the fact I longed for slightly more apple pieces, in Home Cut's apple fritter. If my 2nd visit is as really great as my 1st one, I'll likely push up this review to 5 stars. I'd say I like them a little more than Spunky Dunkers, as far as independent suburban Chicago donut places go. Still need to try Country Donuts in Crystal Lake and Elgin, at some point.
(4)Allison F.
I once had a religion teacher who would surprise his second period class with a box of donut holes from Home Cut. (It's no coincidence that he was one of the favorite teachers in the building.) This was my introduction to the true breakfast of champions: a donut so soft and fluffy, so sweet and glazed, so loaded in carbs. Home Cut gives you 24/7 access to some damn good yeast and cake donuts. It doesn't matter what time of day: fresh, delicious donuts are always ready to be devoured. There are also pastries worth checking out, but I think the donuts always trump. I would definitely choose this spot first over any other donut shop in Joliet.
(4)Kathleen M.
I love donuts and a fellow Yelper read my donut list and told me I should go here. I was stunned, a fabulous donut place 20 minutes from my town and I hadn't tried it? Was the universe punishing me? A couple of Fridays ago I told my hubby I needed a mini adventure. After terrific Asian food we set off for Joliet. I expected the joint to be overflowing as I had seen a segment on this establishment on Windy City Live that morning. Luckily, hordes of Windy City watchers had not descended on the place so we got some space and time to pick out our treasures. We each got 3 donuts, 1 for that night and 2 for the next day. Ha, are you believing this story because we actually ate all of them that night. I had a super delicious honey dipped, a blueberry and a chocolate. Plus decent coffee. I don't think 3 is enough to really judge a donut. I think I need a repeat mini adventure. Sigh of pleasure.
(5)Jessica S.
This place is a nastalgic blast from the past from when Joliet was once a bustling metropolis. Toasted coconut and donut holes are what you come for. If your asking for glazed and infused, your not going to get it but instead you'll receive a healthy dose of Joliet glory. Open 24 hours and only closed 48 hours of the year. They are not going to win any James Beard awards, but they've earned a spot in my heart forever.
(4)Clifford S.
Do you know what the perfect donut it? Well, I do and I found it here! I urge you to get into your car and come here. Right now. Or at least today, any old time will do as it's open 24/7. When you do come, order the cherry cake donut. Or maybe two. Possibly three. Close your eyes and eat it and know you have tasted perfection.
(5)D W.
Nice and yummy.!! You must try the buttermilk,& the honey dip.!!! So very tasty.!! My husband and son love their Boston cream & powder jelly donuts.!!
(5)Kayla K.
Cutest donut place around. Nice and cozy. Very busy establishment. The ladies at the register are always nice when I go in. Amazing coffee.. Awesome homemade apple fritters.. Great prices. Could it get any better?
(5)Chyna M.
Home Cut is my jam! This is the best donut spot I've been to, hands down. Adorable small business vibe, super friendly staff. The fact that they're open 24 hours means they have a full selection at all times! So for any one like me who isn't out and about super early in the morning, this is your place. I hate going for donuts just to find out that all the good stuff is gone already. The cherry cake and the apple and spice are my all time faves. I tried donut den cause I heard it was better but no way! Home Cut all the way!
(5)Courtney C.
I don't even like donuts, but I've been dreaming about the Home Cut variety ever since trying them earlier this week. At 8 at night, there were still so many wonderful, sugary choices that it made it hard to pick. I figured that a half-dozen was plenty for two people to split. I went with sour cream, glazed cherry, glazed blueberry, apple, lemon jelly donut and an apricot jelly donut. On Day 1, I devoured sour cream, glazed cherry and glazed blueberry. All 3 of them were exactly what a real donut should taste like. I'm a fan of THESE kinds of donuts (I guess I've really only had nasty gas station and DD donuts before.) The glazed cherry was my ultimate favorite and I'll make the hour drive for a dozen of those alone with no hesitation. Day 2, my husband ate the lemon jelly and apple donuts. He said both were delicious but I didn't get to try those ones :( I ate the last remaining one, the apricot jelly donut. I've never been a fan of jelly donuts but this one was faaantastic. It was so sugary and light on the outside and then you got the flavor explosion on the inside. I will no longer go around telling people "I don't like donuts" because the truth is, I don't like crappy donuts. These donuts? - I like.
(5)Yvonne I.
I've lived in Joliet for several years now, and I just came to this place recently for the first time. So many different donuts to choose from. I bought a few donuts for my family to try, but since I was in no rush, I decided to have an apple fritter and some coffee at the counter. This was probably the best decision of the day...or week. The fritter was huge ! it took me forever to finish it, but it gave me a chance to soak in the environment. I came around 2 in the afternoon and the place had a steady flow of business, and a couple other people sitting and chatting. I liked the older feel of the place and counter set up. I'm glad this place is not on my way to work or not too many places period because I would be here weekly.

I am mystified by all the positive reviews for this place. I tried 7 different donuts here including apple fritters and was not impressed by any of them. Several were lacking flavor and others were overcooked and dry. Given the stack of premix buckets that greets you at the door, I should not have been surprised. There's nothing special about this place. I'd buy donuts in a box from a grocery store before coming here again.

K, so my boyfriend knew I was on the hunt for a damned great doughnut ever since my favorite Waukonda place closed (they used to make an old-fashioned cinnamon apple cake doughnut that was out of this world good). He took me to Donut Den first & was a very happy camper. This weekend, he got me these doughnuts & I gotta tell you...I was wowed! They weren't too sweet & they were awesome! They were slightly smaller than the other places we have been to, but they had a better quality to them. I'm not sure yet on what their variety was like in comparison, as I didn't get to go there myself but I plan on doing so

I tried both Home Cut and Donut Den as we live in Joliet now we have many people talk about both but I feel this place is better. And the guys making donuts behind glass are so nice to my kids every time we go. Definitely going here from now on and the coffee is so good here.

Open 24hrs and great donuts. If you like an old timey coffee counter feel in a donut place, this one is very much like that.

My family gets dounuks (as my youngest calls them) about once a month. They are always fresh. My fav is the taffy apple (caramel and nuts outside and apple filling inside). I recently tried the cherry coke and was happily impressed. If you are in the neighborhood stop in and give them a try.

This place is where donuts dream of being made! Homecut has been a Joliet area landmark for many years, and for good reason! You absolutely will not find a better donut in the area. I've been visiting this location for over ten years now after being introduced by co-workers. Like most donut shops, the best time to go is in the morning while everything is super fresh. My favorite thing is hands down the cinnamon rolls. If you go early, they'll even glaze them fresh for you! Pair that with some coffee and even the grumpiest of people will smile. They offer seasonal donuts in addition to year round favorites, don't be afraid to try them, nothing weird here. With so many other donut stores such as dunkin donuts who no longer bake in house, it's nice to find a fresh offering you can watch being made through the side windows. Friendly attentive staff, unique donuts, and an old time atmosphere make this a go to place.

This is seriously the best donut place around. What's DD? Lol I feel like I'm going bananas because I haven't had a donut from here in months! Just might have to stop in today after work to grab one or a few!

I will whoop some ass over a frosted cherry cake donut!! Don't play! I've had every flavor donut at Home Cut, and I have to say they are all good! I recently tried the sour cream donut which sounded so nasty to me, but I wanted to be able to say I've had every flavor. Omg was it good!!! I totally recommend the taffy apple, cherry cake, and sour cream, Jelly, Bavarian creme, and long johns whether chocolate or vanilla! They are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and make donuts around the clock so you can always enjoy a fresh donut. I don't know how people of Joliet can go to Dunkin donuts for those stale cigarette pie tasting donuts! The coffee is actually pretty good as well. Until next time!!

Grabbed 20 donut holes for $4.95 Variety is much better than Dunkin Donuts; they had coconut, peanut, chocolate, angel creme filled, raspberry filled, cinnamon, glazed and powdered. I snuck one before heading to a client's office....the angel creme-filled munchkin was good...creamy yet light & airy. I also bought 3 donuts on a stick for my kids....sort of like a cake pop, but with the whole donut. $1.22 each They bake all goods on premises, which I hardly see anymore (at least not at the Dunkin by my house). Service was quick & friendly. I will stop by again if in the area.

OPEN 24 hours on Jefferson. The absolute BEST DOUGHNUTS in the world!!! no it's not an exaggeration. The variety, good price, freshness is all here. The inside is a cool little old school diner feel. Great to stop by with the kids, or a friend, or alone to have a fresh dough out with a coffee and read a bit. The girls that work here are always attentive and in great spirits. A family favorite and tradition to get dough outs weekends early in the morning.....Or late at night.... Or during lunch.... ANYTIME IS GREAT!

The lines are long but they are sooooooooooo worth the wait - some of the best donuts you'll ever have!!

Nice litte place. Donuts taste great. The begal sandwiches are also good. Though i do always have to ask them to "toast them extra" as the are never really toasted. They are out of a lot of donuts whenever i go in. But, good for them. I only go there late mornings. Clearly after their peak hours. I would rather see them out than be sold something subpar. I have had the coffee a couple times. It's never very good. Which is a shame because that would having me come here alot. I would recommend this place if in the area.

Best donuts in Joliet. If you're in town make sure you stop here and get a dozen. Girls at the counter are nice too!!

Been here 3 times and I got to say they are pretty solid. I'm a south sider so my standards are pretty high, s/o to Dat Donuts and Old Fashioned Donuts, but this place ain't bad. I feel like this is what DD probably used to taste like before they started getting frozen donuts sent to the stores. Bonus points for the fact that every time I went here there was a guy rolling out and frying fresh donuts. They also get points for boxing day old treats up for cheap. The fact that you don't know what your getting in the mixed boxes is awesome too. It's like playing donut roulette.

A classic in town that hopefully always stays the way it is now. Delicious donuts, fantastic coffee, and unbelievable French crullers!!

Five stars for the Cherry Cake donut alone. Get it frosted, or get it glazed, it's going to be donut heaven in your mouth either way. Home Cut Donuts is not a frou-frou bake shop selling the latest trends in pastries. They are a local business churning out delicious, classic donuts and pastries. Inside and out it's an old-school diner. There's a long countertop with a few stools, but most customers were taking it to go. My favorites are the Cherry Cake, of course, and the Angel Cream. I can't explain the flavor, but it was sugary, sweet and fluffy. The lemon filled and pumpkin glazed were also very good. These donuts are definitely better than Dunkin or the grocery store, and for 88 cents each, I would definitely be stopping in here more often for coffee & a donut if I lived in (closer proximity to) the neighborhood. I was disappointed by the chocolate-filled. I expected a gooey chocolate filling, but when I bit into the donut the filling was the consistency and color of chocolate mousse. It wasn't terrible, but it was a barely detectable chocolate flavor. The taffy apple was good with the crunchy peanut topping, but there was hardly any apple filling. The apple filling was really, really good! The neighborhood is fine. I felt totally safe here during the mid-evening, and I see no reason to feel unsafe here at any hour. Take a drive down Raynor, where the homes are old but stunning. The parking lot is small and the lines are faded, there's historic Route 30, a black guy crossing the street minding his own business, and a K-Mart on the corner - these are not signs of a neighborhood making a turn for the worse. It's open 24 hours, and I'd be careful no matter where I was if I was out in the late night/early morning hours. It would be a disservice to yourself if you didn't stop here if you happen to be in the area. And every Joliet/Shorewood/Crest Hill/Plainfield resident should give them a try at least once. If you happen to be dining at Truth across the street, skip their dessert menu and come here instead!

Since moving to Joliet from Chicago, I've been looking for a donut place and I've found it!! Delicious donuts and staff is always friendly! Would definitely recommend

Best donuts place in joliet by far. The workers are nice and the pastries amazingly tasty.
(5)Eduardo A.
We do have another donut place nearby that's supposed to have the best of the best, but I like to mix things up a little. Besides, this place has the best apricot donuts! If you visit, it's a must! Get some, in fact a lot! You'll thank me! It's the only reason I drive from Aurora to Joliet!

Came here today for the first time and I must say that specialty donut shops such as this one defiantly beat your local Dunkin donuts by a mile. I had three different kinda of donuts my favorite was the long john with the cream in the middle. And there coffee is too notch also.

Home cut Donuts is right around the corner from us. My 4 year old daughter loves going there for a treat and my 2 year old loves their donuts on a stick. Even the discounted day old donuts are delicious.
