Great little neighborhood bar. food and service have always been good. Their beer garden in the summer is a comfortable favorite spot of mine. My only negative is parking, there isn't nearly enough. There are maybe eight spots in back, aside from that you are parking in the neighborhood. There have been many times friends have been unable to find parking and we've ended up somewhere else.

Are you kidding? This is one of the best bars in Chicagoland! The food is fantastic, but getting better! There should be some kind of law that you are required to add bacon to their patty melt - talk about a bit of gooey, dripping down your arms, taste of heaven... DANG!!! Beer? They have one of the widest selections I've seen AND they'll serve them to you without a beer snob attitude! You will not be sorry.

I have never been to this establishment, but after talking with the owner on the phone for all of 10 seconds before he H/U, i never will. Chris the owner has no business owning any type of establishment. I normally never do any type of reviews but with his attitude on the phone, i just had to. Go else where and spend your hard earned money. With an ownership as Lassen's has, they don't deserve your money.

Excellent service with this local bar and grill. The parking can be difficult at times but the food and the portions are well worth the effort. The recently updated the inside of the pub - it looks great. Try the Big Babe BLT and the homemade chips.

I've been here once and it was for a friend's birthday party. It was a blast! We came on a Thursday so it was 2.50$ mason jars of Bud Light and we hung out in the basement, played pool, and listened to music the entire time. The food was pretty good and the sauce on the pizza was great. My favorite part was they made the Jaeger bombs with Monster. Wasn't expecting it but it was so good. The only complaint that I have is that the 1st floor is very nicely furnished while the basement looks like they pulled the leftovers out of a church.

Ordered takeout this past Saturday....I had Good wings(large and fried well), Caesar Salad with grilled chicken (seasoned Cajun style by request) that could've used a better dressing( Go Homemade, leaves a greater impression!). Their ranch seems homemade, and it very good. Fried pickles were pretty good as well. I picked up, and it was a decent crowd for a blizzard type of night. I would grad a drink there, seemed pretty cool. I would order from the again, nice bar fare menu when you're looking for that type of thing.

I haven't been to Lassens for years and I was pleasantly surprised with all of the changes. The updated decor was great without losing the history. The updated food was great. While the appetizers were the typical fried bar food, the burgers were very good and the price is right. The atmosphere was good but very loud so if you are looking to have a quiet drink and dinner probably not the place you want to be. Will definitely go back!

I kept going back because I hoped I would find at least one decent bar in Homewood, but Lassens always lets you down. If you like sports, then that is one plus to be found, assuming you're into that. Multiple monitors, all-sports, all-day. I've never had so much trouble getting a drink before. It takes several minutes just to get the bartender's attention, and then get treated like an inconvenience. So after finally getting your drink, don't expect to take a sip before they want their $5. These people can't be bothered to deal with setting up a tab or billing you once. As for the atmosphere, a sports bar obviously. Not very many people to talk to unless some sort of important game is on. Billiards downstairs, but the only people down there will be brought by you. Prices are tolerable, $2 beers and a bit much for anything else.

So I've been going to Lassen's for years, I've even shared the spot with friends who appreciate good beer, but, after Thursday's, 4/30, experience, I won't mess with them ever again! I got to the bar at 10:30 and ordered a beer, unfortunately Mr. Meany Bear took my beer order (that's what me and the girls call him because he's always in a shitty mood), well he was actually decent, good sign right? Uh, no! So I was never asked if I wanted to see a menu or if I wanted to place a food order, nor do they ring a bell or provide you with any warning as to the latest call for food orders. When a bartender finally asked if I wanted another beer, I asked if the kitchen was closed and he got an attitude! He sighed, looked at his watch and said I cant go back there after they have cleaned the grill and shut things down, 2 minutes before 11 and ask them to make a burger, pizza, or anything that uses the grill. He then said, I mean you can do anything fried and I asked what would my options be and after another sigh, he got a menu and sat it in front of me. Needless to say I wasn't going to order anything, even though two other patrons were like if you're hungry order something. He never came back and asked if I wanted anything, that was purposely done because it was after 11PM at that time. I asked for my check, paid it (tip included), and left. All he had to say was, the kitchen is closed. You don't need to belittle and berate customers with your dramatic sighs and gestures. I would have been okay with hearing, the kitchen is closed.

I have been coming here for almost 13 years. Back then it kind of sucked. People have been trying to convince me how much better it is. I'm so glad I finally listened to them. The lighting is better. I think they did a decent job on the remodel overall. The only area that could use a big improvement at this point is the sound system. The food is actually good now. It's still bar food but tastes really good. The pizza, Italian beef and grilled cheese are my favorites. The beer list is insane for the area. A good beer within 5 miles of this place is impossible. My friends and coworkers are here all the time so I'm sure I'll be stopping in regularly. The prices can't really be beat either!

The only thing I've been told by those in the know is to never, ever, eat the hoagie steak. Lol. I've had most of the menu and its AMAZING. This city boy is definitely impressed.

Great beer! Great burgers! Great service! I haven't been to this bar since the renovation. It's a completely different look and feel. No more rickety tables and bad black vinyl seating. It's definitely worth checking out!

A great place to go if your a local. It's like a high school reunion every time you go there. They have great specials most nights of the week...especially "Thirsty Thursday" where they have $2.50 mason jars. The food does much more than take care of business and is priced good. In addition to multi flat screens they have a big drop down screen w/ projector for the big games. when the upstairs fills you can move on downstairs or evan go out to the beer garden. Plenty of things to do besides drink from darts and pool, to golden tee tourney's and the fun hunting game. Did i mention they have bags? anyway check it out if your in the area, you wont regret it

Went to Lassen's for the first time to check it out after their remodel was featured in The Patch. And we weren't disappointed. Went on a Friday night, during the NCAA tournament. They had all the games up and the place was hopping. We ordered a bear from the bar and were standing there. I believe the owner/manager asked if we wanted to sit. We said sure. He thought there was a table opening up so had the waitress make certain to tell us when it did. Well, we never had to. We wound up getting a seat at the bar and eating there. The food was quite good. Not knock your socks off, but for a bar like this is was quite good. And we have been back a few times since. It is VERY reasonable as it relates to the qualify of food you get. For two of us, 3 beers each and food we got out of there for about $35. Hell of a lot cheaper than other bars in the area. All in all we like it and will make it another regular haunt. I can't believe we have lived in the area for almost 8 years and never been. Glad we found it though.

Lassen's is a great bar to go to for food and beer. The bartenders are very friendly and quick. Their food is excellent, especially the pizza. Everything is fresh and nothing comes from a can. It rates up there with Aurelio's. Fridays the pizza is half priced too. On Thrusday's they serve Mason jars of beer for only $2.50. There's several choices of beer on tap or by the bottle, including Three Floyds Alpha King. Downstairs there's another bar and a room for private parties. There's also an outdoor patio when the weather is warm. The only downside is parking can be difficult since it's very limited behind the bar and it can get very crowded and loud and the night grows longer. It's one of favorite bars. Check it out!

I love Lassens. Great burgers, fun place and GREAT servers!!! The winter menu was delicious; beer selection is good and the the service is one of the friendliest around.

I didn't go to HF so I could care less that several people who went there frequent the bar. Here is what I do know they have several quality large televisions for your game viewing. They are all situated high enough that you can look right over your classmates heads if that's such a problem. Great staff who knows a bit about the craft beers they have in stock. This is the place that started me on my craft beer journey and I thank them for it. Better than average bar food at better than average prices if you cant get it in at Lassens something is wrong with you. Also if you drink bud or bud light (why the hell you would I have no idea) they have a special a few days a week where you get a mason jar full for $2.50. I personally wouldn't drink it for free but hey it takes all types and who am I to look down my nose at your choice of swill. A beer snob that's who.
(5)
Mandy S.
First time here for the Bears game. The bartender was excellent and she made sure that you always had a drink. They provided food at half time of the game. The bar was full, but not so crowded that you were getting pushed and pulled every direction. Would go back again for game time!
(4)
Chris H.
The bar is lame, full of town folk and sub par taste in music. The servers are usually really good and they have a decent beer selection. It's really just not my scene though.
(3)
Katie H.
You know that part in the movie The Hours when Claire Danes says to Meryl Streep: "All the ghosts! All the ghosts are assembling for the party!" That's Lassen's. You'll see everyone from H-F, and they'll be drunk and nice, and you'll be drunk and nice because they serve beer in mason jars.
(3)
Steve P.
I've had nothing but a great experience at Lassen's. The staff is very friendly and the food is quite good (especially the pizza and wings). Like many else have suggested, be sure to go on Thursdays for their wings special.

A terrific place to watch the game...ANY game. Nestled in a quiet spot of Homewood, this little Pub is cozy, but has plenty of TVs to see the action of whatever sporting event you may be here for. You'll be welcomed by an ornate wooden bar with a HUGE mirror when you "belly up" to place your order, and a friendly smile from the bartender as they greet you. I was surprised at the size of the menu, and the choice of burgers is quite impressive. I had the "Cuban" and it was so good, I purposely took my time eating it so as to savor every single bite. If I lived closer, I'd definitely make a point to come back here more often just for the grub. The only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is because it was a little understaffed for a big event (we went there to watch Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals) making the wait for drinks a bit longer than we would have liked. Also, the Hawks lost...so unfortunately, as every superstitious hockey fan knows, I can't return to watch Game 4 and chance losing another one. We need that Cup here in Chicago! Final word: Go.

Lassen's has been one of the bedrocks of Homewood having been a small family business for decades. The food is still good and reasonable and it will always be "old home week" headquarters. However, I mistakenly ordered a glass of wine on my last visit. The new interpretation of "glass" is closer in size to a shotglass -- seriously! It is worth a look when you go in there to see the sherry glass now used as a full wine glass. Certainly this ain't the Ritz but the value is about the same. The tap beer prices are equivalent to any city bar. Yet the atmosphere is just average now. The staff seem world weary and resigned, giving the place a sad affect. When it was a certified dive bar it was enjoyable, reasonably priced, and generally happy. Now this place needs a transfusion because it is on life support. Depressing.
(3)
Courtney O.
Great place for a reasonably priced beer and decent food. I used to go to Lassen's all the time for the open mic nights which were well organized and always interesting as well as entertaining. Not a bad choice to stop here if you're in the Homewood area. Bartenders are always pretty nice, too.
(4)
Peter D.
Lassen's is a great small pub. But don't just come here for drinks. The food is damned good. Wings are my favorite. I'm not a regular, but have tried the wing night (Thursday) and Taco night (Monday) and both were great food for a good price. But what impressed me the most was the salad. I ordered a small dinner salad and it was crisp and fresh and delicious. Completely unexpected for a little bar that you would even guess serves more than popcorn. They have Guinness and a friendly wait staff. I'm all in with Lassen's
(5)
Loren H.
This is the best bar. They have really great food and a good beer selection. Prices are reasonable and the staff is really nice. I can't say enough good things about it. Oh and their kitchen is open until 11pm all week. So if you are night people like my husband and I, you will love this place. We rarely decide that we would rather go out to dinner before 9pm when most places close. So we end up there a lot and I have never once been disappointed.
(5)
Deirdra G.
Dive bar to say the least. That's great if you like that type of atmosphere. I have been here a couple of time...just to have a couple of drinks before going out etc...musics decent....crowd in mid twenties and early thirties...nothing to shout about...but if ya wanna get a few drinks in you and watch amusing social interactions...this might be a spot to try.
(2)
Bob G.
Great prices. Great food. Great specials. Love wing night on thursdays. I have heard from many people that the kitchen is not clean. Kink of a buzz kill since I do like going there.
(3)
Mopsie B.
Warm, hospitable, plenty of popcorn and really good service...what's not to like? Add a dash of nostalgia for those of us who cut our drinking teeth here when home on break from college and you've got yourself a great little spot to reminisce with friends from years ago for a bargain buzz. Even top shelf liquor is cheap here, which is such a great bonus. It's definitely a mini high school reunion for those of us who grew up in the area. Not everyone may know your name, but you'll usually run into somebody who does, and that is not to be undervalued in this cold, cruel world!
(4)

Lassen's has been in Homewood for years. It definitely serves its purpose as a decent sports bar. The chicken wings are okay but make sure you go for wing night on Thursdays. If you are an HF alumni, expect to see not only most of your graduating class there over school breaks, but also a few of your teachers. Don't be surprised if you cozying up to the bar and your gym teacher is sitting next to you.
(2)
R T.
The menu while small was varied. I had the wings once and didn't like them. The burger I had, on the other hand was awesome. The tequila was expensive and the seating sucks. I would definitely go back for the burgers.
(3)
Martin V.
This place is alright, and like everyone else has posted if you grew up in the Homewood Flossmoor area and went to HF you will see at least 1 person (and 1 teacher) that you knew in school. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is really up to you. I find myself stopping in here every time I go home for no other reason then the fact its close to my house, it's a relaxed place to have a drink (or 5) at, and they have a popcorn machine and a bags set. Haven't ever tried the food, but the drink specials are usually pretty good, and if nothing else you can entertain yourself with a longneck and people watch It's a bit of a dive, but I'll take that over the boring as hell 5th quarter any day.
(3)
Keith W.
A nice suburban dive bar where drinks are inexpensive. There was only one bartender working. Other than that, I enjoyed the place. The patrons were respectful. We didn't order any food but there's free popcorn.

Best bar in the area. They do great specials throughout the week, $2.50 mason jars on Thursdays are solid. Their wings are great, and their pizza is pretty solid. Their menu is really great for a bar, and the food is much better than the standard bar foods. The bartenders are great and service is friendly and attentive. In the basement there are pool tables and a jukebox. The patio is open when it's warm, and there's even space to play bags. During Bears season they serve a special buffet on Sundays. They remodeled, and the inside looks really nice. They now carry quite a few really great beers on draft. Lassens is a great place to throw back a few with friends.

Seating was limited when we arrived around 9pm on a Thursday, but a table opened up within 5 minutes. Our waitress was fun and checked on us a few times. Craft beer selection was decent, but leaned towards IPAs and other hoppy ales. Need to try other bars in the area, but would definitely come back.

My favorite bar in the south suburbs of Chicago. Great beer selection and great service. They change up their beer menu on the regular and they always have something that I like on tap. They also have an outdoor beer garden (with tiki bar) and another bar in the basement. Not overpriced, either.

I love me some Lassen's. Ever since the renovation, their kitchen has also gotten much better. Was in this past week, and they had no draft beer...because they were upgrading their back bar to have THIRTY taps. :-)

This tavern and grill recently received a huge make over from head to tow and it looks great. Lassen's has one of the best burgers in the southland along with delicious nachos and now you can pair them up with a cold refreshing craft beer. LED TV screens are everywhere above your head for games and occasionally live entertainment is available. We love it!

This bar is awesome! Not only is it a small walk from our home, but the food is awesome! The wings are our favorite. These are not small little wing dings with some bottled sauce poured on top. The wings are a decent size and cooked to order. The sauces are made in house. The price makes them taste even better! I recommend the spicy garlic flavor. My husband loves the beer selection here. I enjoy their peach long island. It is not on the menu, but they make a pretty good one. we, also, like to frequent the beer garden on certain days. Earlier in the evening, it is really kid friendly...our children always order the pizza , and we enjoy the free popcorn while we wait. You can also play beanbags (our son loves this).

First time here for the Bears game. The bartender was excellent and she made sure that you always had a drink. They provided food at half time of the game. The bar was full, but not so crowded that you were getting pushed and pulled every direction. Would go back again for game time!

The bar is lame, full of town folk and sub par taste in music. The servers are usually really good and they have a decent beer selection. It's really just not my scene though.

Depressing.

Great place for a reasonably priced beer and decent food. I used to go to Lassen's all the time for the open mic nights which were well organized and always interesting as well as entertaining. Not a bad choice to stop here if you're in the Homewood area. Bartenders are always pretty nice, too.

(2)Bob G.
Great prices. Great food. Great specials. Love wing night on thursdays. I have heard from many people that the kitchen is not clean. Kink of a buzz kill since I do like going there.

The menu while small was varied. I had the wings once and didn't like them. The burger I had, on the other hand was awesome. The tequila was expensive and the seating sucks. I would definitely go back for the burgers.

(3)Keith W.
A nice suburban dive bar where drinks are inexpensive. There was only one bartender working. Other than that, I enjoyed the place. The patrons were respectful. We didn't order any food but there's free popcorn.
(4)Emily Z.
A great experience! We made a great choice to try it out! Great food, good drinks, amazing and friendly service! We would definitely come back if we were in the area again!
(5)Rob J.
Very nice local establishment. Good selection of craft beer as well as great food. Wings and burgers are excellent!
(5)Eric H.

(5)Sarah F.
Love this place! The staff is super friendly and food is great! Reasonable prices on food and alcohol, my only complaint is I wish it was bigger :)
(5)Lore S.
I love Lassen's, their wings and cheese fries are great! And you can't beat the $2.50 Mason jars of beer on Thursdays.
(4)Adam C.
I love me some Lassen's. Ever since the renovation, their kitchen has also gotten much better. Was in this past week, and they had no draft beer...because they were upgrading their back bar to have THIRTY taps. :-)
(5)Chris H.
We love it!

I go here to meet up with ex-co workers every now and then normally on Thurs. and its a good time mason beer is the special along w 35 cent wings OMG they are INCREDABLE best wings i have ever had
(5)Crystal J.
